Best Weapon: With the multitude of unique and often absurd weapons in anime, Ghost in the Shell's Tachikoma is something that'll come in really handy in any situation. You can use these agile little mates for transportation, surveillace and cover fire, and is as dependable as any other Section 9 agent. ...And who can resist blue robots who speak in cute, high-pitched tones? (R2D2, is that you?) Best Technique: Ranma Saotome's Kachu Tenshin Amaguriken, better known as Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire, hands down. No, really, it is. I've always imagined it to be the Amakakeru Ryu no Hirameki of bare-fist techniques; a succession of punches pulled so fast that one won't burn himself while picking up chestnuts from a hearth. Beat that, Tifa Lockhart.

^ Welcome back!
Do you ever wonder how big of a geek you are...
Yes. I feel comfortable using scientific jargon, I've a lot of Paleontology jokes and I balance chemical equations for fun. Thank you for asking, I finally believe that it's possible to become this geeky.
and....do you wonder how to get rid of the girl repelling (or boy I guess) Aura that goes along with being a geek?
No. My geekiness draws legions of eligible bachelors to my doorstep and is therefore considered a valuable asset. *cackle* Question: Do you think it's right for people to sue fastfood chains because food there makes them fat?

Hope you're still interested! Um, I wasn't able to stick with your first specification because, ah, their coats kept disappearing into the background. ^^ Something extra!: I was also planning to use this picture but I just saw the episode
where Paz gets caught in Tilt Rotor's explosion
and I *kinda* felt sorry for the old guy. So yeah, sorry for the delay! If you want me to changeanything in this set, please say so. *bows*

I'm afraid I didn't do the series justice. :P Please PM me if I hafta change anything in this set. Um, I'm also planning to do your second request so please wait for it.*bows* EDIT: As promised.

Wai~ Betty Boop! I meant to answer your previous request but I could't find any workable picture of one character. Um, I hope it's alright; I used the parameters you specified in your other request. If you want me to change anything in this set, do tell me. ^^

Anime Who do you think is the better zoid pilot, Bit Cloud or Van Flihyte
Delta replied to panzerzanaku's topic in Otaku Central
^ Oh yeah, but they were situated in completely different circumstances. If there ever was a war in Bit's time, he and Liger Zero would *probably* be that era's Van Flyheight and Shield/Blade Liger (maybe even better, considering the fact that Bit's an unusually lucky dog). But still, it's Van for me! It's mainly because I like Chaotic Century more New Century that I'm always rooting for Van. He's gotten out of pinchers much worse than New Century ever threw at Bit and it was very clear that Van evolved, making him look cooler and tougher. Now if Blade Liger was as customizable as Liger Zero... Mmm hmm. You'd be looking at a god-moder, ladies and gentlemen. -
Ending...sequence? Of the first season? The one with the really sexy sounding song? Hmm, I remember seeing scrollling images of the naked pilots in the ending sequence but they were mostly showing their bare shoulders and other PG-13 parts. As for Meia, yes, her personality's a bit cliche but she's one of the few characters in the series who actually evolved personality-wise (other characters would be Hibiki and, umm... Duero?).

Children, definitely. Unlike adults who, more or less, think the same way, I noticed that children have a different view on things which when revealed sounds really simple yet painfully close to home. They even have more profound ideas than adult villains (just compare GateKeepers's Kageyama to the other invader leaders)! Oh yeah, and it's always creepy to see children laughing at bloodbaths as if they were watching their Saturday morning cartoons.

^ The runaway bride, hmm? I suggest you ditch the blanket and use that multi-colored towel of hers instead. Then you can dress your daughter up in a police costume and have her walk you around the neighborhood.^^ Since no one in our house is really into Halloween (well, save for my little brother), I'll probably just drag chains around our second floor at the stroke of midnight. With a little luck, I might actually meet our house's resident poltergeist!

Oh yeah, but between SARS and bird flu, I think I'd go for the former. Bird flu's fatality rate is somewhere above the 50% mark, glaringly higher than SARS's 5-12%.
The 1918 Spanish flu, which caused 50 million deaths, appears to have been a bird flu that became a human virus with just a few key mutations. Pandemic flus in 1957 and 1968, which caused serious human illness, were launched when human strains picked up genes from bird strains.
source Them scientist may sound like Chicken Little but there really is a looming possibility that this particular strain may mutate into something else in the near future. Add to that the reports of a strain which has developed resistance to Tamiflu and we may see a fatality rate way beyond anyone dared to predict. Then again, the avian flu virus may just mutate into a more successful strain, one that won't kill its host off. Another strain to join the ranks of the cold virus, yeah?

First of all, I'd like to thank Revue ahead of time for a wonderful battle. To tell you the truth, I'm extremely nervous to be battling someone of your calibur.
Wai~ Same here! I really didn't think I'd stay long enough in OBGT for a round against you, Trib. I'm very sure ours'll be a match to remember! ^^ -----------+ The Year of Miracles Since I've yet to do something in celebration of the Year of Physics (Geek! Geek!), I thought of paying tribute to the papers Albert Einstein published in 1905. I'm not sure if that counts as great literature but to people in our field, it is. ♥ The text is set in Ringbearer, an LoTR-inspired font by Pete Klassen, Sylfaen and 1942 Report by Johan Holmdahl.
I hope they grow out of it by the time they're juniors. e_e
Oh yeah, everyone grows out of their obsession phases. They can't stay that way forever you know; surely in the near future they will notice how fanatical they've become. ...But then again, there are a few who remain as hard-core otakus in the later years of their lives. Meh. "Too obsessed" would be someone who habitually stays up 'til 4am just to catch replays of an episode she doesn't even remotely like. How she books you into her schedule depends on whether or not the hour of your meeting will coincide with the TV premier of a series. She puts the object of her obsession first everytime and is able to remarkably survive for days without sleep, food nor contact with other human beings. *sigh* If I hadn't gone through that phase then I'd probably have a good boyfriend by now.

Shin Hakkenden? I've watched a few episodes and I'm not i the position to say whether the series was good plot-wise. But I remember that the ending was excellent (I'd buy it for the ending alone) and that I rooted for the villains (although Chuji was adorable). The animation reminded me of Gundam Z, even though it was done in 1999.

Oh yeah, definitely! Well... if you're into drama (do-ra-ma? ^^) then you'd better get the OVAs first (a good move, considering that the OVAs happen before the anime series...I think.) Anyways, the series' has got a good mix of comedy, action, drama and a bit of *implied* romance. It's also divided into arcs so can watch it part by part. Hey, legndarybatosai, I heard that a second OVA set was released sometime last year~2 years ago. Is this true?

Anime "Do You Ever Think of Your Own Story to an Anime Show..."
Delta replied to a topic in Otaku Central
Yeah, sometimes series/episodes don't end the way I want it to so I make up an alternate ending (everyone lives, boy gets girl, all emos die gruesome deaths, etc). It doesn't hurt to make up scenes especially if what you've got turns out to be more entertaining than what the creators chucked at you. If you're weird, then Bebop here and I are, too. -

Then [somebody] do the following for me one day: -Pick an element, sample it, and chemically test the properties it has. -Alchemise one sample into another element -Sample this new element and test its properties chemically to prove that it is indeed another element
...Radioactive decay, amirite? 232U -> 228Th -> 224Ra -> 220Rn ->etc. happens naturally, that's why we have radioisotope dating. No need for alchemists! ^^ As for the thread title: nope, I haven't come across anyone who studies "true alchemy" yet (it's probably because they're all hush-hush about it, as Tyler Koregaten said) but give me a book on alchemy and I'll read it. Wouldn't hurt to study about these things, yeah?

Hurrr... another rare character. (Hurray for Visual Kei Kaze!) I found it hard to work with the picture you provided so I used other pictures of Kaze instead (Sorry!). The guy's got lovely eyes, doesn't he? Mmm hmm.

Anime Times that you've rooted for the "bad guy"?
Delta replied to Bloodseeker's topic in Otaku Central

Ayane (DOA):[/b'] Maybe not a full fledged antagonist, but Itagaki obviously intended for players to be on Kasumi's side in that rivalry. But how could I side with Kasumi on this one, when Ayane's 100 times cooler?! Kasumi's cute, but Ayane's got an awesome atitude! Intentionally pissing Helena off before their fight in DOA2, stating just about everyone's sentiments on Jann Lee, and seriously looking down on fighters after she's beaten them! Not to mention that she just looks cool.
Seconded for all the reasons above plus that awesome snowstorm scene with Kasumi in DOA2. The girl's got confidence in her abilities. Mmm hmm. I've always felt a strange affinity towards Wietoo of Eden's Bowy. I hated this guy when I first saw him, always egging his sister on into killing Jorrne. (Yes, yes! Kill him! Kill him so that Spike will become the true God Hunter!!! Ohohoho!!!) He seems like one of those selfish, stoic types one usually associates with unfeeling bishounen. But really, he's just keeping his feelings to himself and does care for other people, especially for his sister Hairra. -
^ True, true. More episodes are required to show the entirety of a massive world but in series like Naruto, there are so many sidestories that one loses track of the series' point. Not that I'm complaining; I love filler episodes but when the show finally veers back to the main plot, I tend to forget the last story-relevant thing that happened. Now there's a lesson for them creators: Don't make an anime out of an unfinished manga. Once the show finally catches up with the manga, you've got nothing to throw to your audience but filler episodes.
-
Unless it's an anime that follows no solid, main plot (You're Under Arrest, for one. Galaxy Angel is another), I'd say 50~52 is a tad too long. One hundred episodes is pushing it; take Slam Dunk, for example. Because of extensive backstories on each player (be it someone from Shohoku, Ryonan, Kainan, etc), many of its 20+ -minute episodes stretched only for 3 minutes (!) on the game clock. Twenty-six episodes, if budgeted correctly, allows for good character development and one's sure that the main plot won't be lost in the few filler episodes that may be incorporated into the series.
-
^ I'm with you on that. Only money can fulfill our wildest anime dreams! ^^ I do not wish to become a voice actor because the slightest strain in my voice can make me lose it for a week. What I really want to do though is to direct an opening/ending sequence in some adventure/ fantasy anime. It's the part that watchers see the most, yeah? I wanna make something like GITS:SAC 2nd gig's opening, something that'll give the audience an adrenaline rush everytime they see it.
-
"Hughes in Hawkeye's skirt!" ...Lisa does wear skirts, yeah??

Oh no... not really. For the women of Mejer, it's just a matter of filling up the role a male parent. They don't really have intercourse per se, but the "male" parent's DNA is seeded into the "female's" womb. See the sixth episode of the first season. I've no idea how them Talark mates reproduce but I distinctly heard a guy from First Season, Episode 1 invite another man to have a baby. Maybe it's similar to the Mejer method, only with an artificial womb. As for homosexuality... err, none. At least I didn't see any hints of homosexual tendencies from any of the characters (I wasn't following the three seasons closely enough). Oh, but there was with one itsy-bitsy thing with
Jura and Barnette...

For a while back, I absolutely hated using mechanical pencils. I'm used to drawing really heavy lines and them leads often snap under the weight of my hand. The good ones are pretty expensive so I started using standard Faber Castell pencils for drawing. Then Pilot ColorEno pencils (which have very good tips, IMO) came along and restored my faith in mech pens. I'm hopeless when it comes to inking so I use them idiot-proof Unipin drawing pens from Mitsubishi. The ink sinks fast into paper and the tips don't disintegrate no matter how many times I run them along the jagged edges of a very old plastic triangle.
