?*whistle* This looks promising.? Melissa leaned against Keegan?s doorway and watched the man pick himself up. ?Wanna get even, Captain?? The Captain wiped the blood on his lip with the back of his hand ashe shook his head in reply. ?Won?t even bother to. Violence is the first instinct of the ignorant.? He then ran his hands through his hair and looked out his window. It seems that the chaotic docking area was a soothing sight for him as it didn?t take long for his breathing to return to normal. Melissa smiled as she sat on the Captain?s chair and prop her feet on his desk. There he goes again, she thought. No use keeping those words to himself; that bastard of an officer was never good at hiding his feelings anyway. Still facing the docking bay, the Captain folded his arms across his chest and inhaled deeply. ?Engineer, what?s the status on their mecha?? ?A lot of ?em got busted up pretty badly but it?s nothing we can?t handle. But did I hear it right? Three days then Baskin?? ?Yes. I trust you know which components to install on those mechs.? ?The team?s equipping the parts as we speak.? With a flick of a wrist, Melissa produced a stick of cigarette between her fingers. She lit it with a lighter the captain was using as a weight for, ironically enough, the base commander?s new ?No Smoking? memo. For a while, the two didn?t speak to each other: one was immersed in his silent vigil of the docking bay as the other casually puffed out wispy smoke rings in time with some song in her head. ?You comin? with us, Harlin?? ?Not this time, Mel. After today?s mishap, I?m certain the top brass will want me in the base when you get to Baskin.? The tone of his voice gave him away; from the sound of it, it was obvious that he?d rather go to Baskin than report to his superiors. He told her once that he?d rather be a grunt than an officer, at least he?d be out on the field more often. ?I?ll sub for you if you want.? ?And pilot your tin-scrap HMQ? No thanks.? ?Keh. Your loss.? Melissa got up and gave Harlin a pat on the back. ?Call me when you get lonely, yeah??

Hope you don't mind; the font I used couldn't handle those special characters so I just used the traslation. ^^ Carolus Duran's The Triumph of Maria de Medici The verses are from a famous poem by Friedrich Schiller entitled "An die Freude" which was adapted into the fourth movement of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony (more commonly known as "Ode to Joy"). Ninth Symphony premiered in 1824, and by then, Beethoven was already deaf. It was said that halfway through the performance, the orchestra began to keep the rhythm he was gesturing with his hands instead of following the appointed conductor's baton. The fourth movement of the Ninth Symphony is currently the official anthem of the European Union. Parameters: Words: Farewell to the skyscraper's fairy tale Colors: Umm... how about violet, gray and blue?

I cannot believe that no one's mentioned Galaxy Angels yet. It is severely underrated in my book. You read that right: underrated. It's some sort of a joke really, the anime being an extremely entertaining sidedish/junkfood to the chunkier videogame GA universe. Those who have watched the any of the GA series know that it doesn't follow a graspable storyline nor provide a definite conclusion in some episodes, leading it to be dismissed as "utterly pointless" and "a complete waste of time". But truth be told, GA anime was intended to be utterly pointless right from the start. The highly-transformable and logic-deficient place that is the GA universe set the stage for a variety of events and instances that you will not see in other anime. It went for entertainment value and was more like a revue on 2D than a plot-driven anime, something that made it stand out in a plethora of more serious anime. A breath of fresh air, yeah?

I disagree. Power Rangers is still awesome. You should watch that episode in WildForce where
all 12(?) Red Rangers including Mighty Morphin's Tommy(..was it?) combined forces to defeat a handful of them monster-aliens.
I wasn't a fan of WildForce but that episode was sure something. And huurrrr... Wildforce wins over Ninja Storm anytime.

"The Science Warrior Appears in New York." is a caption of a cartoon (cel?) depicting a giant robot kicking down buildings while wielding mecha-size guns. As far as I (and Google)know, it's not an anime but rather a 1943 propaganda manga by Ryuichi Yokoyama. EDIT: Hope that helps! Sources: 1. Anime If you could be any anime character, who would you be?
Delta replied to Shadow Blade's topic in Otaku Central
Anime: It's good to be...Motoko Kusanagi of Ghost in the Shell. The girl's got a cyborg body built from parts so high-tech, they're illegal. Her l33t hacking and efficient processing skillz make her a sort of a mind-reader and an excellent leader/tactician. She drinks beer but doesn't get drunk and owns a great set of leather jackets.*sigh* Manga: I wanna be Tenku from Yami no Matsuei. Yeah, that shrine gate thing that the shinigami use to lock others up. Why? Two words: Imprison Touda. -
"Eeeek! Glowing Eyes is gonna punch himself!" O-kaay... that was corny.

Ah~ Are you referring to this thread? Perhaps it's just a matter of PM-ing the thread starter about bands you wanna pit against each other. Even Kamuro noticed that hardly anyone has heard of some of the bands s/he mentioned. Noone's responded to that thread for nearly a month now so maybe it's time for the members suggest bands to the thread starter... just to keep it alive, yeah?

Does a bishounen always have to be physically "good-looking?" Do unattractive characters [with really sweet, charming, suave, etc. personalities'] count?
In my opinion, yes. A bishounen must be, first and foremost, beautiful (hence the prefix 美 "bi", the character affixed to all things lovely). Never mind that he's a narcissistic prat or Malevolence made human; as long he can make girls (and boys) swoon, he's bishounen. Prime examples would be Hisoka from HunterxHunter and Nii Jienyi *swoons* from Saiyuki.

I loved how Gino's [spoiler']fantasies were smoothly interwoven with what was actually happening.

^ Agreed. I was pretty confused with the second episode myself but as it progressed, the difference between
Gino's murderous persona and his mild-mannered side
became clearer. It kind of preempted the ending, yeah? The script reminded me of Texhnolyze's first episode, only
instead of having no dialogue at all, most of talking was done by Gino. It felt like a simulation of how it's like to dive into somebody's mind.
BTW, Motoko looked rather lovely in that episode, don't you think?

I mean, take Dilandau for example. In the series,
Dilandau turned out to be a chick.
But the movie was a breath of fresh air for diehard Dilandau fans (like me! I got made fun of by my sister because it turned out that I liked
a girl!
>

^ Indeed. Her cuteness also helped balance out the legions of aesthetically-challenged characters in the show. How about Galaxy Angel's Normad? That mascot's pretty useless, yeah? He does nothing but mouth off useless side-comments, praise Vanilla and get shot in the head. He's easily one of those useless=disliked characters Bloodseeker was talking about.

Patient becomes listless after a bout of hysterics. Responds neither to sound nor eye stimulation. Date: August 1, 2009 After eleven days of observation, drugs were able to coax Patient #95168 into a brief state of mental soundness that lasted for an hour. He was able to communicate to us his name and his recent history, albeit with obvious difficulty. Military background confirms my diagnosis of a rather extreme case of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Patient/?James? then slipped into an apparent state of confusion. Date: October 2, 2009 I have instructed patient to regularly take a cocktail of MDMA and venlaflaxin two months ago to suppress the progression of his condition to full-scale Chechen syndrome. The prescription worked; the nurses have noted an appreciable change from an aggressive nature to a more agreeable disposition. It is the most unwieldy of the 50-caliber family with its recoil and locking mechanisms closely resembling those found in rifles. Deemed unnecessarily powerful for practical purposes, it has a reputation for causing sprained wrists due to its large recoil. OOC: Image courtesy of Falcoon. I'd choose something that will keep the anime-neophyte alert and interested. Something that's very anime but has elements that are from pop-culture. Something like... Cowboy Bebop. (Surprise! - _ -) Because of the variety of themes taken in by different sessions, action movie freaks and chick flick fanatics alike will find at least an episode that'll tickle their fancy. Yep, the opening sequence alone is sure to get 'em watching.

My rancorous side suggests elimination for both participants for failing to meet the deadline. But since we let something like this slide in the first round (Sean vs. Young Cheezy), I say we get a tad less lenient: let Kitty win by default.

A mix of both appeals to Delta the most. Showing new stuff won't hurt; they're what make good anime unique, yeah? But I'm very slow when it comes to following plots and it would be totally frustrating if the series I'm watching is just a barrage of the unfamiliar and unpredictable. I also like a good deal of logic in my stories so before the creators throw any plot twist at me, they should imply (and I should see) the progression of events that led to such a twist.

The beans that come in a velvet pouch, yeah? Hmm... The last bean I ate was blueberry, I believe. Yes, unlike those unpleasant and distinctly flavored trick beans, them blueberry beans don't taste like blueberries. What I really want to try are Fizzing Whizbees and Ice Mice, though.

Try to break things you wanna draw down to a collection of basic shapes (circles, ellipses and rectangles, for example). If you get their relative positions down right, you can play around with the images a bit longer than, say, copying the curves immediately. Then you can proceed to solid objects like cylinders and cones to add depth to your sketches. I cannot stress enough the importance of practice and patience; though talent counts, it's pretty useless when you don't have the skills, yeah? Also, it doesn't hurt to take engineering drawing lessons (I'm serious!). It'll help you twist 3-D objects in your head and figure out how they would project onto 2-D paper.

Of the three seasons that grace our side of the world (inundation/typhoon, hot and cold), I love typhoon season the best. Sure, knee-high floods rush into the city at least once a month but nothing beats chancing upon a cute guy with an umbrella when I happen to leave mine at home.
