1. The story couldn't get any farther to the series. See, The Vision of Escaflowne (series) has what I'd call an "un-sequel-able" story. The creators pretty much concluded the series with a closed ending so TVE is something that one cannot resurrect easily. Thus, to make a "sequel", one has to incorporate modifications like
dragging in a parallel world
or
overhauling the characters' personalities completely
. The good thing about the
parallel-universe idea
is that you can watch the movie without going through the series. Also, the animation and character designs look much much better (partly because it's a joint project of several animation studios from across the globe). I guess if you're looking for more of the same and/or a fan of any of the characters (Folken-samaaa!), get ready for completely different retelling of their individual stories.
 2.
#34- Law of Probable Attire- ...* Third Corollary (Probable Attire permanence)- The clothing on the hero is indestructible. Their capes, robes, (and if they are girls,) skirts, dresses, bows, or any loose clothing will just flap when they are in the middle of a fire or ice attack... Unless it's a hentai. It is believed that the clothes are made out of Anime Character hair. (re. Laws 32 & 48)
I disagree. Hentai-grade tube socks are highly resistant to fire bombs and show extreme resiliency to consummate blades. It is usually the last piece of clothing to disintegrate off a hentai schoolgirl's body. ...Regarding Matchstick City/Tokyo: Yeah, it seems to be the most prone to catastrophe but it's also the setting of many post-apocalyptic anime like NGE and... Akira? Tokyo may fall but it'll never die.
 3. ^ It's from Fruits Basket, an anime everyone's gotta watch. "Up, up, down, left! Antiseptic Fist of Fury! Ooooryah!!!"
 4. Down at Lowwell Base?s Hangar 14, Heavy Metal Queen was propped up in a corner labeled ?T32-CX?. People in olive jumpsuits worked around the mecha, now unscrewing bolts in the frame, now checking connections between boards and wires. A number of tubes extending from the ceiling twisted around what looked like a jumbled mass of crudely cut wires, busted pistons and crumpled pieces of yellow metal connected to HMQ?s broad left shoulder. Dismal. On the same shoulder stood HMQ?s pilot, Melissa Mao, who was then studying the blueprints taped to the side of the mecha?s head. Countless cigarette butts litter her workplace and somewhere in that nicotine mess, an old radio was crackling out a steady stream of chatter:
"I keep seeing them too, I'm not sure what to make of them." "Perhaps, they're playing around with us. I've heard rumors of cloaking devices, and I'm not about to let that go in one ear and out the other," "Right on. Vincent, Sakura, double-team on this wide load. Jules, Isaac, and myself will provide close proximity cover. Taka and Tobias, cover our rears and keep sharp on those squirrely pips on the radar,"
Just then, a not-so-crackly, most-definitely-someone-from-the-base voice broke through her teammates? signal and barked through the speakers: ?Melissa, are you listening to this?? Melissa sighed out a smoke ring and bit her cigarette. ?Yes, Colonel. As always.? ?Jules' heavy arms didn't even scratch it. What do you think, Engineer?? ?Maybe a new type of armor, may just be a holographic projection. Want me to go check it out, sir?? ?No, no. We?ll just wait for them here. Hopefully they?d have more data on it other than ?impenetrable armor?. Meanwhile, you?d better get your guys ready. Looks like a number of them got hit.? ?Roger that, Chief.? Melissa dropped her cigarette, stepped on it and slid down HMQ?s right arm. She then whistled to the hangar staff and picked up a megaphone from a nearby table. All heads turned to her as she cleared her throat through the megaphone and prepared for another short yet sweet pep talk: ?Alright, you bums! Leave HMQ for now and clean this hangar up! We?ve got customers coming.? OOC: Sorry it took me this long to post!

Congress began funding the obscenity initiative in fiscal 2005 and specified that the FBI must devote 10 agents to adult pornography.
Dare I say it?... Those lucky dogs. So it seems that Bush's to-do list is littered with entries like "War on " Oh wait. Perhaps the Bush administration/FBI released such a statement to give you guys something to laugh at, with all these calls for rehabilitation of those hit by the recent hurricanes. "War on Porn." Oooh. Scary.
 7. A) Which aspect of OtakuBoards do you find to be the most negative/confusing?
Um, it only has two skins, both of which are very blue. It would be nice if we had a wider selection, yeah?
B) What is your favourite aspect of OtakuBoards? 8. The influx of new ways of making a film (or whatever it is you wanna call it) has given directors and all those Hollywood guys a bigger playground. It's now a matter of who's got the best special effects, the most wicked stunts, and the most capital. And to secure blockbuster status, the story would have to be a tried and tested plot, kinda like the ones found in bestsellers and/or older movies that clicked. So you see, Hollywood just shifted its focus to the technical aspects of films. Perhaps when there is stagnation in moviemaking technology, Hollywood will once again come up with original stories.
 9. Get Texhnolyze. Yep. If that doesn't put you in a lousy mood, nothing will. It has no tinge of comedy whatsoever and the characters aren't exactly psychologically sound. Most notable are the colors and dialogue; get ready for a very depressing experience. But it's good. Depressing but good.
 10. PILOT:Melissa Mao
Age: 23 Gender: Female Bloodtype: O DOB: September 24 Hair: Black, Short Eyes: Dark Plum Height: 5' 7" Special Markings: -none- Psychological Profile: Best described as a foolhardy gambler, Melissa loves to tempt Fate and is apparently hell-bent on self-destruction. Her love for the unconventional has often landed her in trouble, although nothing too major that she couldn?t get out of. Melissa takes on her missions with an air of casualness. By detaching herself from the battle, she becomes a highly adaptable pilot and is able to compensate for her mech?s limited maneuverability.
MECH: Heavy Metal Queen Tyrant Class, Model T32-CX
It seems that HMQ?s designer had too much time on her hands. The Tyrant 32-Customized/Experimental is a hybrid of both second- and third-generation Tyrant-class models and is considered a motorized miracle by many mechanics. Thanks to a brilliant remapping of its internals, its parts now fit into the sleek and compact frame of a relatively dimunitive, 20-meter T31. True to its moniker, HMQ?s gross weight is over 10 metric tons and is one of the densest Tyrants around. An upper bodysuit serves as primary control to the mecha, supplemented by peripheral cockpit panel for the cooling system and lower limb handling. HMQ is readily identifiable by its rather ostentatious gold frame and red graffiti along its extenal thigh pistons. Weapons: ? [1] Second Generation Gatling Gun ? [1] Mecha-grade Grenade Gun ? [1] Burst-fire Rocket Launcher ? [1] pair of built-in Spark Gloves Specialties: ? 12-ton combined grip in both hands ? Multiple barrels and quick reload cycle makes it a excellent choice for fireworks displays

 14. Chapter 22: Alone, yes? Sanzo's solo pic is from a Zero Sum cover. It's not what you asked for, but I can't pass up a Saiyuki request! *bows*

 16. Young Cheezy: First up, if you were going for cynical take on the theme, then you have done very well in expressing it. Of the two pieces, yours was the closest to the theme, IMO. But the saturation level is too high and I think the subject's face is, umm, distressing. It would help if you at least centered the text. I see nothing in this piece that gives good measure of your artistic abilities. Also, it's of the wrong size. Sean: Your submission is rather unexpected as I didn't think anyone would come up with an abstract piece for the theme (snaps for you). I've yet to figure out the secret to making such a spiral, so I assume that you rendered it yourself. But there's too much stuff going on and I have yet to decipher what it means. Perhaps you should have added the title into the image. My vote goes to Sean. P.S. To the member who wins this round: Please prepare well for the next round. Show Baron Samedi/rokas what you're really made of, yeah?
 17. Hay guys! Who's to say that their pieces don't qualify as material for OBGT? No matter how brilliant or unsatisfactory the pieces turned out to be, if those were their takes on the given theme, then we must honor their submissions. If you have anything against those pieces, do say so in the voting thread.
 18. I've a pretty short temper but I rarely wreak havoc when I'm ticked off. What my brain would do is it would shut my nice persona down and go into "haughty *****" mode. Once that's on, I'll respond to every query or comment directed to my person with a raised eyebrow and a really cutting remark. Spread the hate, yeah? ...But I'm pretty sure I chased someone down with a knife back when I was in high school.
 19. Let's see... The best sub character for me would be that unnamed A.E.G.I.S. guy from GateKeepers who tows Ukiya's car (and nearly anything else Specs/Megane can't handle) to wherever it's needed. (Phew!) Aside from the fact that he's absolutely adorable (^^), he's one of the unsung heroes behind every successful operation. Sure, you can't defeat those invaders without them GateKeepers but if it weren't for the A.E.G.I.S. engieering staff, things like the armored bus and those gate-powered mechas will fall into disrepair. And that goes for Mobile Suit engineers too!
 20. And so the Picture Caption Game makes its way to Tokyo 3... Wonder why nobody has thought of it before? "This isn't some win-a-friend, save-the-Earth anime. This is real life!"
 21. Voltes V and Gatchaman (or G-Force). Yep, anime from that genre were pretty popular back when I was 5. They would always have this emotionally-strained "leader", matching outfits and just one girl. Coupled with sentai like Bioman and Shaider, you could say that I was babysat by five-member space police teams.
 22. Many [M-LVS]-rated RPGs I read down at the Square merit mere [PG]'s or [M-V]'s by the way the players are posting. Too tame for the [M-VLS] tag, yeah? I think it's not the creator's fault alone, why threads do not live up to their ratings; it's the participants themselves who determine the maturity of a story. I say a thread's rating should be decided after a number of posts into the game, when the creator has seen how the participants post.
 23.
Kyuzu from samurai7... actually his purpose is to kill Kanbei... so he joined the group to fight for good... but don't you think he's still on the other side...?

When Kyuzo died, I'm pretty sure what he felt about Kanbei was something along the lines of friendly competition. Episode 25, I think.
Kazutaka Muraki started out good. He just got frustrated with the fact that
humans are very fragilebeings. His broken dolls can be fixed anytime but it's not as impossible as resurrecting the dead.

 24. Ha! Azumanga Daioh! Inspiration from a unlikely source: the best way to cure PS block. Thank you very much for the banner, Katana! (I assure you that the aforemetioned quarter of your brain is in perfect working condition. ^^)
 25. ^ 'Cause rarely do we come upon this kind of request down at Art by Request. Pretty weird, but there's lovely logic behind the choice of theme and dimensions. Good job, Chief! The Astronaut's Song ♥ The lines are based on a translation of Maaya Sakamoto's Uchuuhikoushi no Uta. Haven't heard the song but its lyrics make me smile. Click click! ♥ The brush "Starfield" used to create those yellow stars in the background (what else? ^_^) is from brushes by pange. Go visit it sometime. Obviously it's a premade brush. Ohohoho! ♥ The text was set in Airstrip Four, a font by Vic Fieger. Absolutely brilliant work. ♥ Everything else (vectors, the dotted border and the little orange plane including) was done by me. I had a lovely time making this. *grins* Enjoy!
