1. *is too excited to sleep now!*
2. I am a sort of average role-player. I tend to only participate in RPGs where I understand characters (if it is based off of a show/movie/book), or if I like the concept. Which isn't terribly often. I'm rather lazy, allowing writer's block to be an excuse, but I tend to be impressed with some of the stuff I churn out...I keep wondering, "Who the heck wrote that?!" A good role player is: --one who sticks to the plot. This, above all else, is definitely key. --one who writes legibly and makes sense whilst doing so. --one who stays in character. --one who, if using a specific type of format (in play version, novella version, whatever), remains in that version for the RPG s/he is in. Added plus: --one who uses proper spelling and language. If I can't understand what you are trying to say, how can I use your part of the story as I write my part? Added plus: --one who writes in an engrossing manner. Instead of just saying, "He attacked the orc with his sword," try "He lunged out with his silver katana, severing the orc's grotesque head from its earth grimed body." Mind, this is an added plus. I know everyone can't write like famous authors. Things that irk me: Several have been mentioned already, like: --not using punctuation...or using it improperly (I've seen way too many ellipses and the like that don't need to be there). --not using proper grammar. Leaping from past tense to present, then switching back--it's too confusing! --not staying in the story. "The main character was suddenly filled with god like powers and blew the bad guy away in a fireworks like display of bloody entrails." Nu-uh. If it doesn't fit, don't write it! A good way to stay in the story is to read the other people's posts. That way, it ensures they will use your parts (and not flame you for being OOC). --not posting simply to say, "Gosh I have writer's block." That's just a plain waste. --Excessive swearing. Good writers know the difference between using swearing to enhance plot and using it gratuitiously(sp?). If you are in character, fine. But I don't need to be reading swear words every third word. --using internet slang. It's plain annoying. Done ranting...for now! :devil:
3. Spoilers. Highlight. Blah blah blah. ;) *Basically, you need to go all the way to the top (and more to the left) of the map in Calm Lands. You should see a small ledge leading a little ways down. The first time around, there should be someone stopping you, telling you you cannot go down because the canyon is sacred because it was carved out by a fighting-to-the-death Sin, blah blah blah... Later on, after you get the Celestial Mirror, come back, and the guy should be gone. Then you are on your way to start the process of getting Tidus' Legendary Weapon.*

Well, as far as the Spoiler thing goes, I've been putting all my spoilers in white color, so that people have to highlight them to read them. I usually include a note to highlight and stars around the "empty" space, to let peeps know where to highlight. *Like this.* Kinda a hassle, I know, but does it work? It does on my computer, except for when I'm replying to a post...if you scroll down looking at previous posts, you can see the white lettering on the greyed boxes.
5. Well, FUDGE, Kneeko, I'm teetering between shaking your hand for having some sense and kicking you off a cliff for insulting one of my fab games. ;) :p How about Mystic Quest (it had the FF name on it, regardless of if it was one of them)? That one SUX major time.
6. *eyes K.A. and bites tongue painfully* The worst FF game for me was 8, definitely. Rarely have I ever come across a game that I would give up on out of pure boredom--on the first disk, too!! Also, the reasons you mentioned about 10 I direct at 8; 10, IMO, was more in the line of fantasy-based than 8 was.
7. I've answered your questions below, James, but I dunno if they are spoilers for you, so highlight at your descretion(sp?). ;) *AnimeLover's all over it. Stolen Fayth temple is beneath the bridge, and like I said, good place to level up. And by the northeast bit, you mean the tiny ledge that kinda grips the side of the canyon? Yeah, that's part of Tidus' Legendary Weapon bit. You need the Celestial Mirror to get it. If you've already beaten the Chocobo Race at Remiem Temple, then you are on your way to get the Celestial Mirror--you should have one kind of Mirror, already.* As far as leveling up, if you can get to either the Stolen Fayth Temple or Mt. Gagazet, you will be good for leveling up. If you can't get to either place, or you don't want to, keep going, by all means. But be warned, you have another few difficult bosses before you get to Zanarkand, so be ready.
8. Spoilers about Mystery Mushrooms You know the drill--highlight it if you want to see it. ;) *There's actually seven different actions, and here's what they do (or here's what I've gotten out of it, anyway): Shivering: Fire (this one I have the worst time getting) Taunt (bring it on move): Blizzard Light over head: Thunder Falls to ground, as if bowing to you: Cure Spins around: Aero Freezes in place (I think he tilts his head): Stop Floats: Gravity You DO have a time limit to strike them with the right magic--a tone will sound if you did it right. Three successful strikes causes them to drop the Mystery Goo. Sometimes they will also drop (magic) manuals...ie, I got a Thunder Manual for beating one with all Thunder hits. I don't think the manuals have any value other than just having them.* Do not confuse the White Mushrooms with the dark ones, which spit toxic stuff at you. There are also purple mushrooms with yellow hats--I've been told they are extremely rare, and you have to keep them in the air while attacking them for them to give you anything. Unconfirmed rumor for me, soooo....if you can prove it, let me know--I've only seen the Rare Shroom once, outside of seeing it in the Cups.
9. OK, time for some talk in FFX's defense. ;) Do you recall the first few games of each new system that comes out? I especially remember several of N64's--Mario 64, Zelda 64, etc. And you'll notice that the visual/audio aspects are generally paid attention to first. Content usually follows, and is altered accordingly. Or vice versa. What I'm saying is that FFX was the first FF of the PS2, and (somewhat unfortunately) more attention was given over to audio (mostly) and visual effects, rather than the content (IMO, the reverse was true for FF7--content over graphics). Even with the advent of the DVD technology, the massive amounts of graphics eats memory up faster than anything (I should know, I am in multimedia programming). I'm not completely excusing FFX. Squaresoft may have wanted to impress with all this flashy stuff on one disk, but it suffered as a result, as we can see by this thread. ;) As I said earlier in this thread, spreading the game over two disks wouldn't have been all that shameful--but how else would you extend the story? There is such thing as TOO much content *cough*FF9*cough* IMO, the switching out charas was fun, but probably the core of why the game was so easy. The FF crew could have done better, but regardless, I still love this game--always will.
10. OOC: I hope this isn't too out of continuity. And poor Auron, I keep knocking him out. -.-; ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Groggy, Auron stirred, forcing his one good eye open. Something fuzzy yet feathery brushed his cheek, and he rubbed at it. With his talons. Groaning, Auron remained still. He had hoped it had been nothing more than a bad dream. He stretched his hind legs, casually noting that his claws looked especially sharp this morning. ...what the Farplane...?! When did he get feline like legs? Auron mentally poked at Ditto, who didn't respond. Feeling a little more than frustrated, Auron got to his many feet, stretched his four wings (Oh Yevon, more wings...), then refolded them, the large across his back, the smaller across his furred chest. He moved to walk to the end of the room, but was halted by the shackles around his ankles. Shaking one experimentally, he leaned down to bite through the chain leading off of it with his lethal beak. "I would not'a do that if I were'a you..." "Mario?" The voice scoffed. "So you have'a met the pudgy plumber. PEH! Again, I say PEH! He'a is not'a worthy of'a his name!!!" Auron was ignoring the voice, which grew in accent the more it got agitated. He knelt to tear through the chain again. "I'a warned you, you oversized'a flying rat!" Something beeped and Auron watched as a wall next to him opened. He watched in apprehensive preparation as something stepped toward him....and nearly laughed when he saw it. A tiny metal mushroom man. It clinked with each step it took, and stiffly trotted up to Auron. "This is supposed to scare me?" "Eh...whatever'a works." The tiny mushroom man's hat opened, and noxious green gas came out, enveloping Auron's every sense. He grappled with the fumes, reaching out to Ditto again, with no better luck this time. "Scared'a yet? Well, just'a know that your little friend'a sold you out'a. The...Deeto? Peh! You can't stop'a me, any more than that'a pesky plumber! The world'a--she shall soon be MINE!" Auron's russet eye flashed once, before the fumes knocked him back into unconciousness.
11. The big golem thingy, yeah. Actually, now that I think of it, the Stolen Fayth Temple is another good place to level up. It is in the Calm Lands--you'll know it when you get there, trust me.
12. Looks pretty good... Auron: But? *eyes him* ...but...methinks the person on the right part of the left side should have a green edge to him too, to balance with the green edge on your DBZ chara. Auron: Hmmm.
13. Oh, I know!! All the Guado Guys + Morticus (you know who I mean) and the Gate Keeper (I think?) rank in the close call fights. The "Red Carpet" of Bevelle was a pain in the butt--but that was because I tried to stay as far away as possible the first time. That's right--the first time. Oy. Spectral Keeper was another pain in the butt, but only 'cause I wasn't using my head about the platforms. The 3-part Zanarkand boss was the worst...took me 4 or 5 tries to kick her tail. As for the final final boss? Pfft. First time, baby. Oh how I :love: Auron! (His was the final winning attack for my file.)
14. Ah, you're talking about Belgimine (sp). If you go by that store in the middle of the Calm lands, you can get access to a Chocobo, and Remiem Temple too. But I'll let you figure out how. HINT: You HAVE to have the Chocobo to find it. I am SUCH a doofus, James--I assumed that you were leveling up in the Calm Lands after the fact...anotherwords, after you had already gone to Zanarkand. Sorry, my bad. :blush: Mt. Gagazet is a good place to level up--after you get past Defender X. I don't recall if you can get to Remiem temple before Defender X, but I KNOW you can't get to the Stolen Fayth Temple under after you beat Defender X. Getting all the fiends for all the areas of the Arena is another good way to level up.
15. Does anyone know how I can get to those treasure chests inside the giant pumpkin statue in Guillotine Plaza, Halloween Town? I'm been gliding and High Jumping my tail off, with no effect. EDIT N/M, I figured it out finally. So, now I have all the puppies. Whee. Although I got some VERY nice stuff for doing so. ^_^ I uh...also found Sephiroth. O_o; I uh...got my tooshie handed to me on a silver platter almost instantly. :nervous: :faint: Methinks I have a LOT more training to do...
16. I think Mods and such aren't allowed to be in this...either that, or some sort of exemption. Somebody brought this up back on page 2...or 3. *has had a long day* Flash, when will this start? I don't care if I'm IN it or READING it, I just want it to start! :whoops:
17. Well, on some of the bosses, I just got cocky and too sure of myself and was toasted. My fault. But yes, some of the bosses on this game ARE hard. I've been in a few situations where I fight until I'm about to die, and I'm spazzing because I fought for sooooo long, and here we go, one last hit then I guess I'll let it kill me--then I manage to pull it off at the last minute. I love those kind of boss fights.
18. Which just goes to show it's a waste of money to buy the Herding Staff or the...whatever Lulu's version is. ^_^;
19. I forget, does that stand for PhotoShop or PaintShop? Anyways, in PhotoShop, if you still have the .PSD version of the file, then you can remove the text layer that way. Most people tend not to, as .PSDs easy run at least 1M per file. If it's PaintShop, then you're kinda on your own, I guess...I dunno anything about PaintShop.
20. Are you willing to go to the Omega Ruins, James? It's a secret location, and you have to guess the coordinates whilst on Cid's airship. (I know them if you want them, but that takes out the secret part, now doesn't it? ;)) Omega Ruins is the absolute best place to level up, although I'd recommend that every character is at least up to 3000 HP (give or take for Lulu and Yuna), and that someone has Flee. If you aren't careful, you will die. Stick close to the save point at the entrance--remember, save points instantly heal you, and give you a chance to run back to the Airship as needed. Spoilers About What Legendary Weapons Have (Highlight if you wish to read) For me, I had Auron's Masamune completely unlocked, giving him First Strike, plus the Flee ability. That took care of any potential dangerous situations. There's also the Double AP, Triple Overdrive, and Break Damage Limit, making Auron downright lethal. Yuna's Nirvana, once unlocked, also gives you Double AP, One MP, Triple Overdrive, and something else... Rikku's Godhand has Double AP, Gillionare (for you peeps who need money bad for Yojimbo), Break Damage Limit, and Triple Overdrive. I dunno what the others have...haven't powered them up yet...V_V End Spoilers If you don't want to go to Omega Ruins just yet, go for the Legendary Weapons (if you know how). This will not only level up your charas tiny bit by tiny bit (and yes, little bits do eventually add up), but allow you to get the abilities that will level up your characters that much faster. Catch 22, I know, but once you find, unlock, and powerup the Legendaries, it is beyond wonderful. Or search for the other Summons. What your characters themselves may lack, your Summons will more than make up for. Trust me.
21. :eek: THANK YOU, Duo!!! Is that the entire room of the fayth? Sure looks it. Wow...I never knew it looked like that!
22. That's a relief--I don't want to lose my place in the Project Gamer RPG.
23. OOC: FINALLY got past my writers' block. This post is gonna be weird, I warn you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ He was lost. Completely lost. Due to uninterrupted flying (Ditto had amazing regenerative powers, and incredible stamina) night and day, Ditto managed to carry Auron all over the place, without once thinking about looking for a village that might help the Warrior's...predicament. Not that it bothered Auron in the least. His taloned hands, however, did. Being who he was, Auron didn't need much sleep; still, it didn't explain how exactly he blanked out, for when he woke up, his arms--both the slinged and the gloved--were now large, scaled eagle legs, with wicked looking talons curving from the tips of what used to be his fingers. Farplane preserve me, he groaned to himself. If it didn't get him, being melded with the Ditto too long would. It looked as if it already had. With that thought, Auron instantly decided anything would be better than turning into...whatever he was turning into. He had come to this world for a reason...people needed his help. He was damned if he was going to be screwed before he got anywhere. "Ditto." "Dit?" "I need to rest." "Ditto?" Auron didn't, but Ditto didn't know that. If there was some way to lure Ditto into halting all its functions, then maybe--just maybe--he could escape. Not that the plan was without its problems. Offending the Ditto, for one; it had helped him stay in this world. Which led to the other problem--once he got free of Ditto, how would he be able to stay? "Please..." In his youthful days, St. Bevelle had offered drama classes. Due to the incessent badgering of a close friend, he had tried it. He hoped he still remembered what he had learned, as he faked fatigue. "I need to rest." Ditto felt the human's essence grow limp and squeaked in panic. It beat the large angel wings (now molting from white to a dark brown) for a few minutes, then folded them as it dived toward the ground. Wrapping the wings about them, the body rolled along for a moment and came to dead rest beneath a large bush. "...thank you..." Auron gasped weakly. Mentally, he was growling at what a ham he was being, and hoped to goodness that Ditto was buying it. Apparentally, it was; Ditto rested for the moment, everything at the lax. Now all Auron had to do was-- Everything instantly went black again. Ditto chuckled to itself as the human's face began to change into, what the Ditto would recognize as a Pidgeot, and the rest of us as an eagle. The nose pointed downward and took on a sharp, bone like quality, as the tip drew into a lethal point. The chin melted away as the mouth merged with the nose, making a yellowed beak. The stubble from the now nonexistent jawline grew longer, taking on a furry feathered quality that soon covered the entire head. The shades, no longer able to conform to the abrupt change, fell from the beak into the grass, glinting dully. This attracted a creature, part robotic, part mushroom person. It pattered through the bushes and leaned over to grasp the glasses, only to pause at the strange, half man, half beast creature before it. Ditto pulled itself up a little, its head extending from the back of the body. Chuckling again, darkly this time and so uncharacteristic for a sweet little blob, it squeaked a few times to the metal mushroom man. Nodding, the small man pattered back the way it came. Ditto glanced around for a moment, and, using Auron's mind, was able to read the nearby sign in the moonlight: Evil Villian HeadQuarters A small, handwritten note that had been scribbled hastely was taped to the bottom:
Evil Minions needed; Inquire within
Ditto chortled evilly. Things were going to plan. The human's unusual spiriting dilemna had worked to its favor, and his body was a constant source of transforming energy; once Ditto had completely changed the human into the beast form, the Pokémon could fulfill its every wish and dream--to no longer be mocked as a cute, squishy blob, but feared as the bloodthirsty Griffon creature that would soon rule the world!!! The added plus naturally being disposing of one of the annoying little heroes that had come to save the world in the process. Ditto melted back into the human's body, and blinked a beady eye, moving the beak in a diabolical grimace. "Eee hee hee hee hee to!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ OOC again: TOLD you it was weird. O_o;
24. Whoa, psycodelic (sp). I dunno what to say. *blanks out, stares at banner*
25. (OK, I dunno if this should go in this forum or the Art forum, but since I'm looking for Final Fantasy stuff, I figured I'd start here.) I'm writing my FFX fanfic, and one scene includes viewing the Fayths' statues (the circular ones in the floor found in each room of the Fayth). Does anyone know where I can get shots of the circular statues? It would help me a tremendous lot!
