Well, it took forever and a day to actually arrange, but I beat Flo's butt. :) Now, who's next? :smirk:

I already know what type of game I would want. It would be an RPG, but the biggest thing is that it wouldn't have an emphasis on combat. Sure, you could go along, increasing your combat oriented statistics, but the cases where you absolutely need to fight will be less than half a dozen. The game will emphasize on storytelling - thus, you will gain most of your XP through conversations. If you invest in 'wise' skills, such as Charisma, Intelligence, and Wisdom, you will open up new conversation options that will get you more XP than if you just killed. For the storyline, imagine an immortal. But he is not beautiful - his skin is dark gray, he has scars covering his entire body. His hair is like hay. He is dressed in a mixture of leather and bones. He does not remember who he is - and thus, he seeks to discover himself. The story is not epic - it does not revolve around saving the world. It is a story of self discovery, and that's it. It is not going to be revealed that by discovering your past you will save the world. The whole point of the story is to discover yourself.
I kinda do think the idea of a generic RPG idea being laid out and then seeing what we, the players, can do within that enviroment with or within the bounds of the story. Allow us to discover our memories, our abilities, maybe even have us be amnesiac immortals like in Lost Oddyssey, discover how we became immortal somehow, etc. I think it'd be an interesting plot point, explains why people are after us (maybe they don't want us day, but we don't know that), etc. I'd be down for that.
I don't want to do immortality as the plot point, because that is too similar to Lost Odyssey and Planescape: Torment. Like I said, we have varying degrees of amnesia - some could be a total blank, while others could just be the immediate years.
-
I think we need a synopsis first. Here's an idea: The characters are awoken by a voice. They find themselves in some ancient ruins. They have various degrees of amnesia - some are minor, while others are critical. They seek to piece their puzzles together. Mercenaries and religious soldiers alike are after them. Its very simple, but also very expandable. :)
Sounds like some education on your part is in order Matt. :p I'll even help you out since I spent far too long writing up a bit on one of my favorite composed pieces by Rachmaninoff: Piano Concerto No. 2
Okay, so maybe I skipped you by accident. Sue me. :)

Is Allamorph and I the only ones who like composed music around here? >.> Well, I've been having a fascination with the third disc opening track of the "Universe At War: Earth Assault" soundtrack. It was composed and written by Frank Klepacki, who you probably know as the guy behind the majority of the Command & Conquer soundtracks, as well as "Star Wars: Empire at War". Divine Intervention is the first song of the Masari race. It begins with this amazing chorus, and throughout the entire three and a half minutes, it is a beautiful mixture of chorus, classic orchestra, and techno. A beautiful song, and a great action piece. You guys should check the soundtrack out. It was released for free. Here you go.

Well, the sign ups are going excessively slow, so I am going to just start the RP. The last remaining two free spots will still be up for grabs - you'll just have to join the crew in mid RP. Expect the RP by Sunday at the latest.

...Huh? Say that one more time, but with more proper grammar, less exclamation lacks, and an utter lack of hyperactivity. You post a new topic by clicking the new topic button that is on top of every forum. Its pretty easy, actually. :)

All I know is that it was one of the first anime cons to really hit it big. Did it come out before OtakuCon? I can't remember. Basically, its one of the big name anime conventions.

Actually, Engel's character, Yarrick, was our designated mechanic. :/ Although, two mechanics may lead to comedic disputes here and there. =D

Its such a well written profile, I really don't have an excuse to NOT accept it. Sure, we already have 3 fighters, but we have room to spare. :) But I would like to remind all those interested that what the Saklaus needs isn't more fighters, but people of other trades. A religious speaker would be an interesting choice, or perhaps a fugitive? Anything beyond fighters.

But that's not the only thing the government controls. Libraries are universal. Everybody gets free books. I like my free books. Schools are universal too, and no one says that is communist either. And if you honestly think having universal healthcare is communist, then I guess England, France, and good old Canada is Communist too. Our healthcare system is broken. When our Healthcare companies have lists of illnesses they won't cover that is so long it could circle a normal sized house two or three times, when Hospitals will just put their patients in the streets because they can't pay their expenses, when the healthcare companies actually encourage their inspectors to deny claim (and they get a raise if they get the highest amount of that month!), you know we need something else. And those other countries have had universal healthcare since at least the mid '40s (England).
-
Yes, but isn't Healthcare as we know it more expensive? And what happens to when somebody gets cancer? Not everyone can afford cancer treatment, so what do we do? Just leave them hanging? It should also be noted that $120 a month is just France. It may be more or less expensive in other countries.

Well then something really weird is going on with my...whatever is going on. Because all the YouTube videos are the same! A really bad music video. EDIT: Its something to do with Firefox. IE sees the videos just fine. Weird. -
I know someone who knows someone who's somewhat acquainted with someone who knows where Lunox lives. Get the firing squad!

Is it just me, or are all of the videos Rick Roll? -
I survived 5 seconds of that stuff. How long did you guys last?

Who will I vote for? Well, that is a tricky question, considering I am neither Republican nor Democrat. I am effectively neutral, because for oh so many reasons, aligning yourself with any political party is a bad move. For the longest time, I supported Ron Paul. There was not a single thing that he said that made me think by supporting him I was compromising my beliefs. But of course, he's out of the race, like all the good politicians usually are. I don't support McCain because he's simply another Bush, and I don't like Bush as President. Between Obama and Clinton, I am somewhat drawn. I support Clinton %100 on her Universal Healthcare. Britain, Canada, French, the Netherlands, and even Cuba - they all have universal healthcare. France's cost comes to around 120 dollars a month. And you get free hospital treatment. Got cancer? No cost for you...except for the healthcare tax. No matter what you have, you pay only 120 dollars a month. America is ranked has some of the worst healthcare in the entire world, according to research conducted by the United Nations. We are the only western country without universal healthcare. But, I am not supportive of pulling out of Iraq. As one guy said, we already heave enough blood on our hands - why add more to it? In the end, I don't know who to support, mostly because I don't know enough about Obama and Clinton.

Duel of the Fates? Come on, Battle Of The Heroes would be so much more epic.

Just so you guys can know, all who have applied so far have been accepted. Can't be picky, what with being outlaws and living under the radar and all. :) Now, we just need free spots...so folks, be whatever you want, but ask yourself what we need. We don't necessarily need more gun savvy individuals.

Name: Jonathon Shepard Age: 64 (34 to us) Race: Human Homeworld: Caliphose ? Caliphose is a farming community on the Outer Ring. It has landscape very suitable for farming crops, making it the ideal landscape for a small community of three to four hundred. Physical Description: John?s brown hair is cut to being reasonably short. It is somewhat long in the front, but not close to cover his eyes. His face is built like it was made out of stone, with a wide chin and a stout neck. His skin is somewhat tanned. For clothes, he prefers to wear a leather jacket over some loose shirt cut low at the collar. Tips, tricks, and other sleek maneuvers: With him being a Speaker Captain in the Civil War, Jonathon is knowledgeable about a large series of weapons. He?s not as versatile as a weapon master, but he is certainly a good shot. He also knows a fair bit about piloting, but he doesn?t understand the much more advanced mechanisms of Saklaus. His most important ability is his stout leadership. How you came to be part of Saklaus: With him being the captain and all, it is quite understandable how John became a part of the crew ? he bought the damn thing! And it wasn?t cheap either ? six hundred more credits than he would of have preferred. If anyone asks him how he got the four thousand and nine hundred credits to buy the ship, he?ll just tell to hush up or jump out. The only exception would be if the asker was his vice-capt, and that was their little secret. After the war, John lost his faith in God, the law, and politicians. He would live under the radar, living off of what the Alliance survives off of. He, and his crew, would do whatever it took to survive, the Alliance be damned.

How long had it been since we’ve left Earth That Was Lost? Two hundred? Three? Maybe four? After Earth just became too dead – too much pollutions, too many toxins, not enough land or resources or anything else a decent civilization needs – we just left. Packed our things, stuffed as many people into as many ships, and we just left. We fired up our FTL (Faster Than Light) engines, and we reached the stars. Of course, we found more than just stars. We found life. The things of old sci-fi pulp magazines, of dreamers, of the nuts who would stare at radar all day. We found them – all by accident. They didn’t contact us, seeking peace. They didn’t come, warning us to never threaten their worlds. We just found them. Or maybe they waited for us. It’s anyone’s guess, really. There was shock, there was discussion, debates, the expected things. After all, we had found beings that were just as smart – or smarter – than us. After nearly a couple billion years of being on top of the intellectual scale, we were now on the same level as a couple dozen other species. It was a big deal, trust me on this. A hundred or so years passed by. We have, more or less, became accepted by the other races. Sure, some felt we colonizing more worlds than we had a right to, but in the general viewing of things we were accepted. Then a certain idea was proposed, and it would change everything. There were those who wanted all good natured intelligent life, ruled by one government. Colonies, inducted planets, they would all be ruled by this one government. To many, it sounded like a good idea. No more war, no more feuds between governments. A democratic society, made up by thousands of philosophies and ideals. A futuristic Venice, if you were. But there were those who didn’t like the idea of this ‘Alliance’. They were the Speakers – they spoke out against this idea like a mad zealot defending a dieing religion. It only took a few years for them to switch to guns instead of words. And the Alliance followed suit. Before you knew it, the entire galaxy was split in an Intergalactic Civil War. The war lasted a good five years. It would of ended sooner if the Speakers weren’t so good at planet hoping at the beginning. They really had little to no organization when all of the independent planets grouped together against the Alliance. But once they got an idea of how the Alliance worked their troops, the Speakers copied them. By the end of the first year, you had two equally powerful armies duking it out across a dozen star systems. Well, not completely equal. The Speakers were always outgunned. There was simply too many Allied planets. Their technology was the same, so it was really just five years of the Speakers just buying their time. Each victory of theirs would only postpone the inevitable. By the fifth year, the war was over. The Alliance had won. Now, nearly a thousand planets, in more than a dozen star systems, harboring a trillion citizens, were under the control of the Allied Planets of Interstellar Government. It’s been a good six years since. Welcome to the year 2652. This could be credited to their very limited patience. There is a saying amongst them – “We do 9 things at once, all of them annoying, all of them needed to be done yesterday.” They specialize most in the ways of intelligence – mainly, gathering it, and using it in the way that best fits the needs of the galaxy. They believe strongly in the ways of fighting for YOUR title, and for fighting to keep it. Quite expectedly, they make some of the best generals the Alliance has to offer. They specialize in war advisement and war in general. An all female race, the Nasuli reproduce through cloning. How they survived before they had the technology is anyone’s guess. It is a secret that was known only by the highest ranked elders, and when the Alliance wiped them out in the Civil War, the secret was lost forever. Eltarian – What exactly is hidden behind these masks is a secret that was even more closely guarded than the origin of the Cajavel. There are some who suggest that they are machines themselves, while others suggest just as wild predictions. No Eltarian has ever revealed the secret. In terms of skills, the Eltarian are a diverse. Like the humans, they can be good at essentially anything. They may incline to be more intellectual in nature, but the scale is never set to any way. It all depends on what the individual wishes to pursue. Despite their large structure, they harbor minds that are inclined to almost nearly passive ways of thinking. Nomor who would even consider a path of violence is the making of a bad horror movie. Their skills are mostly in the spoken tongue. Orgcin – Throughout galactic history, the Orgcin have been the warriors, the warlords, the soldiers of fortune; they have, and always will be, the best soldiers one can lay eyes on. Towering over most other species, these reptilian individuals are focused on one thing – fighting. Scientists and philosophers are non existent. They are certainly knowledgeable in the ways of machinery – that is their biggest strength. They aren’t the best of speakers, what with their ability to speak common usually means them speaking in hushed, stuttering voices. They are not the best of warriors either. They value etiquette, politeness, and chivalry. They rarely ever refer to themselves by name – they see this as being ridiculously rude. They usually refer to themselves as “This one”, or “It”. They will tell their name if requested. If you’ve got a job that’s just under the law, we can do it. Don’t care much what it is, just as long as we get paid. In laments terms, we do stuff that’s illegal. Wow, this is just sad as much as it is stupid. Of all the ways for a kid to die, to die from just playing is the most tragic. Although, I would assume that even 10 year olds would know not to bury themselves in sand. I mean, I was a big comic book reader when I was a little kid, but you didn't see me jumping off of rooftops! There has to be more to the story than is being told. I KNOW 10 year olds are smarter than this.
