1.
Originally posted by User Name Now , now, no need for name calling.
First of all, Sere called you a sad, sad, person... where I come from that's less of a name and more of a summary of opinions.. and if she was doing it just for the sake of name calling, then it was a pretty pathetic attempt.. so I don't think that's the reason..
The fact of the matter is, in todays society, it IS okay to have sex before you get married. And looking like a whore doesn't actually mean BEING one.
In today's society it may be OK to have sex before you're married. It's also OK to have sex with an offspring, in some countries. Does that make it any more right?? My point is you can't judge absolute rights and wrongs by the way that society views them at any one time.. and personally I think it's a good thing to have 'no sex before marriage' as a moral to stick to. The fact that I'm a Christian doesn't make any difference to that fact, as I've always felt that way on that issuie, and I've been a Christian for 5 months..
The point of videos like that is to . . SHOCK HORROR ! turn guys on, which means more guys want to see it, which means it gets more air play, sending it shooting up the charts, and selling millions of records in the process, so they can, guess what? Come on, somebody? What is it the music buisness is built on these days? Talent? No, that's not right, guess again. There we go, it's MONEY ! They make lots and lots of money.
I hate sarcasm.. it's pretty much a mechanism whereby stupid people can try to look intelligent. OK, the odd bit of sarcasm here and there does no harm but most intelligent people use it in an intelligent way.. I think we all know what the music business is built upon these days.. personally I doubt half the pop stars of today can even sing.. a lot don't even bother to sing in public, and just dance around miming for an hour or so. Because as you said, it's built around money rather than talent. It always has been, the difference now being that people like you care much less about the actual talent in the music and more on the way someone looks. Sere isn't stupid; I think she knows that music is built around money, and she never said otherwise, so don't go arguing about something that's not been said..
Now I'm not saying I think eight year old girls should go around tramping themselves in slutty outfits, but I'm sure it's the PARENTS job to moniter what their kids watch and wear, not Christina Aguliaras!
I don't know if you've noticed, but: 1- Kids don't look up to just any old person and model themselves around them- they look to someone that everyone knows about, and 2- When your parents told you that something was just plain wrong, did you ever actually listen? Kids are rebellious, and the only way to really stop kids watching this stuff is to stop showing it when kids are watching OK, a lot of kids watch TV even after they're supposed to, but that is the parent's responsibility, not what is actually on T.V.
She is doing what human nature makes us all do, use our best assests to get ahead in life, hers being that she is so goddam hot !
Human Nature tells us to do many things. Stealing is human nature: you see what you want and get it, even if it's someone else's. Rape is human nature in pretty much the same way. The only difference is, society hasn't bent it's moral code to work around our problems with these issues yet. OK, using your best assets isn't particularly bad most of the time, but certain 'assets', such as stealing to get ahead, cause more harm than not.
Hypothetical situation, you're trapped in the jungle, with an eight year old, and you're cornered by a hungry lion. You're naturally strong and know how to kill the animal. Do you A - Save yours and the kids life ? B - Die, because you might encourage the kid to kill pretty little kittys ?
Let me get this straight... you are comparing letting women dress up like whores while children are watching.. you're comparing that to saving a child's life by killing a lion?? That comparison just doesn't work.. for one thing you would actually be saving a life in the first example of your hypothetical question. In the case we are actually discussing, the women who are role models for these kids, whether we like it or not, are dressing up in ways which you say you don't want kids to..
Now, I could continue to totally obliterate every single arguement you throw at me, and fight your views of innosence and purity with the of gritty realism, and then retort to name calling, as you yourself have done, or I could just calm down and think that everybody has their own opinion, and just because it doesn't match mine, I shouldn't think of them as "sad, sad people". Ranting done .
You're not just sad, you're arrogant and self-absorbed too.. realism may be gritty but it's people that make it that way, rather than that being the way it's supposed to be.. Just try to destroy every argument I throw at you, and fight my views of innocence and purity, because I've developed those views from the same world that your views stem from, so I know how the rest of the world chooses to work.. And don't make yourself out to be so self-righteous "Everyone has their own opinion" after putting down Sere's opinions just because she said you were a sad person..

 3.
Originally posted by Arikel 2.A man walks up to you and says - "everything I say to you is a lie." Is he telling you the truth or is he lying? It's a paradox that cannot happen.
Arikel... Everything I say to you is a lie... There.. it happened..
 4.
Originally posted by James But you have to remember that if we delete every closed thread, some people will not learn. They won't see bad examples. And therefore, people are more liable to make mistakes more frequently. So obviously we have to strike a balance. It may not be to your tastes, but we can't please everyone unfortunately.
It's probably also important to bear in mind that the people who most need these example don't even bother looking for them, so we end up with an over-abundance of examples that no-one looks at before posting another thread, destined to be another example..
 5. a can speak a very vague form of russian... I won't even say that I can speak English.. I think you've all gathered that by now...
Originally posted by GundamGohan uh... am I the only one that gets annoyed when people from the U.S. are refered to as Americans?? because technically Mexican's, Canadians, Argentenians, Peruvians, Columbians, and a whole swath of other nationalities are "American" since they live in North AMERICA or South AMERICA.... I prefer United Statian or just Citizen of the U.S. ... no matter how dumb it sounds...
I believe you'll find that 'United Statian' isn't an actual word (Edit: although now that I've checked, there's a very obscure word: United Statesian), and 'U.S. citizen' is like saying 'U.K. Citizen' or 'Citizen of France'. There's just no point. People refer to citizens of the U.S. as 'Americans', so why change it? Generally, Canadians call themselves Canadians, Argentinians call themselves Argentinians, and Mexicans call themselves Mexicans, they don't call themselves Americans. If they do, they tend to say 'South American', and Canadians don't consider themselves 'American' anyway, so what is the problem.. By the way.. I'm not American, I'm British (just so you know that I'm not actually defending my own country here)
 6. I can't believe I missed this guy out: Justin- all round cool guy, and another Christian who stick firmly to his beliefs.. pretty clever too, and always respectful (not just while he's been a Christian recently)
 7. Winter actually comes?? I didn't know it ever left!!! (Just so you know what I'm talking about, I live in the UK..)
 8.
Originally posted by Solo Tremaine In psychological terms, what Deus is explaining is called 'demand characteristics'- we answer how we think the person asking the question (or anyone else) wants to hear it. It's not a conscious thing (most of the time), it just sort of happens, if maybe you're afraid of reprival.
Cool... I thought there may be some psychological term for it... being a physics and biochem student, I wouldn't have known it on my own though.. thanks.. I actually think it happens in a lot of opinion threads, but people just don't admit it..
 9.
Originally posted by Heaven's Cloud Of course I WOULD!! Strange awnser, huh? Well let me do some explaning. If it was true love, and I mean absolutly and unconditionally, I would trade anything for just one moment with that person...even if I had to risk losing them again. This is why. I would want to tell them all of the things I left unsaid and just let them know that I loved them, unconditionally, one more time.
Dude, I admire your honesty.. Not that everyone else isn't being honest.. but sometimes we can kind of answer in the way that we really should answer, rather than answer the way it really is.. Just so you all know, I'm not saying "you're lying", just that if you were ever given that kind of offer, you'd probably consider it a lot more than you think, especially considering what Heaven's Cloud just said about saying things that were unsaid and such. Now, I'm not necessarily saying that you would eventually accept the offer, but you probably wouldn't turn it down quite as quickly or as easily as you think. Personally, I'd be very tempted.. I don't know what the eventual outcome would be, whether I'd accept the offer or not, but I'd definitely consider it..
 10.
Originally posted by Mnemolth Explanatory note: Those who respect everyone, in fact, respect no one. PS: I would still prefer my initial statement because it is not explicitly self-contradictory. I can see how the use of the word 'claim' may be a bit of a red herring. However, the form of the statement and the juxtaposition of 'everyone' and 'no one' should give an indication what was intended. Still, the off-shoot discussion is interesting in and of itself, though very limited in scope due to its very narrow nature. :D
Exactly.. the use, or lack of use, of the word 'claim' makes all the difference in how you interpret the statement. I think that's why my approach was so different to CWB's.
 11. But surely they can't not log out, unless they want to leave their PCs on for a month or so with a permanent connection (in the UK we have to pay a certain amount each minute.. some people pay a certain amount each month, but they have to reconnect every hour..) Unless of course you can tell the difference between when they properly click the 'log out' button rather than just quit explorer..
 12.
Originally posted by Circéus #10 is wrong, deus, you draw a diagonal to transform the + in a 4, and you get 5+545=550 which is right.
I knew that my answer was wrong.. but at the same time it's right. an equals sign with a slash thru it means 'not equals', and 5 + 5 + 5 does not equal 550... so I was mathematically right.. though it wasn't the intended answer..
 13.
Originally posted by kagome 1. what is the most embarass thing you ever done? 2. what one thing that you said and you want to take it back? 3. What's your view or opinion of true happiness?
1- Getting drunk then wandering round for an hour, not sure how to get home. My house was 15 minutes away from where I got drunk: I ended up, after an hour, 5 minutes away in the other direction. My dad had to pick me up... 2- Most things I say without any thought: either I hurt someones feelings or end up looking like an arrogant idiot... 3- I'm truly happy whenever I lead worship- whether that's in our church youth group or at the Christian Union at uni..
 14. 1.How many letters are in the alphabet? 11 - or 7 if you don't count the ones that are the same 2.A man walks up to you and says - "everything I say to you is a lie." Is he telling you the truth or is he lying? He's lying- but it doesn't necessarily mean that everything else he says is true... 4.A farmer and his hired help were carrying grain to the barn. The farmer carried one sack of grain and the hired help carried two sacks. Who carried the heavier load and why? The farmer, because he had grain in his sack. 5.A boy was at a carnival and went to a booth where a man said to the boy, "If I write your exact weight on this piece of paper then you have to give me $50, but if I cannot, I will pay you $50." The boy looked around and saw no scale so he agrees, thinking no matter what the carny writes he'll just say he weighs more or less. In the end the boy ended up paying the man $50. How did the man win the bet? He was standing on the scale, so he couldn't see it when he looked around 9.A man was born in 1955. He's alive and well today at age 33. How is this possible? 'Today' is 1988 :D 10.How can you make the following equation true by drawing only one straight line: 5+5+5=550 Draw a diagonal line through the equals sign. The resulting sign means "does not equal". The resulting equation is: 5 + 5 + 5 does not equal 550 (I don't know how to do the equals sign with the line through it on a PC)
 15.
Originally posted by genkai_yyh well, uh... Ryan's is the same answer to the other switch one. but the easier answer is to:open the door. test each light.
If you could do that, it wouldn't be much of a riddle...
 16.
Originally posted by Son Goten And if you bring technology back into the future, it's true that we might have better technology now. Or it could just speed up the time it takes us to kill ourselves. So you could come back to find the world gone.
I was going to say the same thing... imagine this: 15th Century Soldier: *spots his target. He pulls the pin out of the grenade* Target: *Goes about his business* Soldier: *Throws pin, and blows himself and his buddies up* Target: what was that?? *shrugs, and goes about his business again*
 17.
Originally posted by OutlawDragon I honestly think that it should not be banned. It was a flag used by the Nazi's as with our American flag. Should people in Gemany or Vietnam ban our flag? Of course not. What about Japan? Should America ban the "Rising Sun"(I think that's what it called, the Japanese flag), they were apart or WW2. It just doesn't make sence at all to "ban" the Swastika. My 2 cents. Lataz -OD
Yeah, except you're talking about national flags. The swastika was the flag of the Nazi Party, rather than the actual German flag, and besides, I'm pretty certain that it's been banned (though not banned from textbooks etc., just banned from wearing it) in Germany itself.. Though I could be wrong on that..
 18.
Originally posted by MysticBabe I don't think anyone has answered the stick one yet, so here is my answer. The sticks weren't magic at all. the theif thinks they were magic, she cut her stick 2 inches short so that when it grows it will be equal with all the others.
...which all seems fine except the guy in the riddle just said that the stick would grow, not that it would grow a specific amount like 2 inches... so how did the theif know to cut it 2 inches?
Originally posted by Battlepoop Here's a pretty easy one if you think about it: A man walked into a bar and asked for a glass of water. The bartender pointed a gun at him. The man then said thank you, and walked out. Why?
If someone pointed a gun at me, I'd be polite too.. I don't want to get shot at, do I?:p
 19. "NO!! You've DESTROYED the SYMMETRY!!!!!" I don't remember why I said that.. something my brother did which destroyed some kind of symmetry.. :drunk:
 20. At my school, people used to make fun of the kid that watched power rangers, and that was when we were just 11. Then again, that was less to do with the fact that he watched it, and more to do with the fact that he acted it out (with himself) everyday. He'd walk up to a teacher, and he'd (seriously) say: "Miss!! Miss!! The enemies are chasing me!!" I don't know why I brought that up.. it just came to mind :S
 21. I used to be kind of like a yo-yo.. I did really well for half a year, then just couldn't be bothered for the second half and... didn't do as well. I don't remember how I actually did exactly in school though (It's been a while, we brits finish school at 16)
 22.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel Anthology was FF5 and 6... Chronicles was FF4 and Chrono Trigger.
In the UK, Anthology is FF4 and 5, and FF6 is sold on it's own. As for the chip, I don't risk it on my PS2, mostly because I'm not such an avid gamer that I actually need a chip, so I'm not going to bother doing anything dodgy for no reason (I'd imagine the PS2 is far easier to mess up if it doesn't work right, too)
 23.
Originally posted by Lady Asphyxia Deus: The holes in the envelopes. When you've posted in a thread, there'll be a black hole in the envelope. When I first came to the boards, I didn't know what they meant, because, although there are signs at the bottom, it doesn't tell you what the holes mean.
Aha!! Those holes!!! And that's what they mean!!!! Woopee! I learned two things at once!!!
 24.
Originally posted by Lady Asphyxia the holes in the envelopes
The whats in the what-whats?? I think I'll add a few more I've thought of. Lady Asphyxia and Sere Tuscumbia: The Newbie Forum Patrol. Not a single thread goes un-noticed in the Newbie Forum, while they're on watch. Sephiroth: I don't know if I put him in my last one (can't see it on the thread history), but he's a cool guy. DeathKnight and SuperSaiyan: Sometimes I think these two have a bit of an attitude problem, but despite that fact they are cool guys who usually know what they're on about. Pretty creative, too.
 25. Well, if you ever need cheering up with some really weird stuff, just look at my sig, and think 'it could be worse. I could be him'.. :)
