Well... the guy in my new avatar is me.. so no need to worry about that.. Of course, there's a few effects in there, so I look like some kind of flipped-out demon... but yeah, that's me.. or you can see the rgular version of my pic inthe pictures forum.. I always kind of imagined Sere to be some kind of yellow rabbit- like thing.. then she changed her avatar.. and Lady Asphyxia.. I dunno.. I kind of have this mental image of some pair of long teeth coming out of a black backdrop.. So yeah.. I tend to associate people with their avatars..

What OtakuBoards member are you? Take the test and find out!
Dan L replied to Mnemolth's topic in General Discussion
I took the test three times this time.. First I was LAdy Aspyxia, the Sara, then Sere Tuscumbia.. hmm.. I'm the newbie forum patrol and a really cool person all in one :toothy: -
heh.. I never did anything really bad.. but once I planned something funny.. I recorded something on my minidisk, which went like: "Help me, I'm stuck.." over and over, then we put it in the classroom cupboard and played it.. with about 20 min's of nothingness beforehand, so it didn't go off straight away.. the look on the teacher's face... classic..
Originally posted by Solo Tremaine I'd never heard of it before, saw it on the shelf in the shop and bought it, watched it and took it back. I think it was misrated as a PG. Some of the stuff made me feel physically sick (but I'm a lightweight when it comes to things like that- I can't remember much about Laputa but I remember I felt bad). I think that's the first proper anime I've seen. I did really like it. Great story, great characters and great music, and fantastic animation. But the wolf's head... eurgh.
I'm pretty certain it was rated a 15 over here in the UK.. so yeah it was probably mis-rated a bit..
Originally posted by Justin Perhaps I misunderstood your staement, Narius, but it America today it's the monority community that gets to crack all the jokes. Now, I think to a certain extent the white community asked for it, after years of slavery, segregation, and opression; but shouldn't it be about time to put a stop to hate, period? I mean, look at BET, for example: What does it stand for? Black Entertainment Television. Now, I'd like to what happenes to the guy who creates Caucasion Entertainment Television. Granted, that issue is not entirely one-sided, but you must at least admit that all sides have contributed more wrong than right. -Justin
Yeah.. that pretty much why I say "I wouldn't be impressed if a black guy said that either, but I kind of know where he's coming from".. I think the problem is, it's just a vicious cycle of hate between different cultures, and as you say, we really should stop it..

I like that latest one... more specifically, I like the whole black/white contrast you've got going there..
Originally posted by Mitch Flaws are what create chemistry, at least, that's what I've seen. I mean, if someone was perfect in every single possible way, it would be nice at first, but that person would end up being just a bore once you get into knowing them.
Actually, if you think about it, "boring" is anything but perfect.. so perfect shouldn't exactly be boring either.. "perfect" doesn't just mean 'not taking any chances' or 'doing nothing wrong', it just means doing everything right.. the thing is, we all have a pre-set view of what 'perfect' is.. whereas, in truth, none of us can really begin to understand what 'perfect' would actually be. The reason for that being that we simply can't be perfect. I try not to think 'this is what perfect is', because I, an imperfect being, can't begin to comprehend it.. So I think my point is: there is no perfect person, because people aren't perfect.. anyone who seems to be perfect, but boring, isn't perfect at all, because if they were, the whole 'boring' factor wouldn't be there. I agree with practically everything else that has been said- it's often flaws (so long as they're not dangerous ones) that actually attract people together, rather than how perfect a person is.

I've only briefly heard my dad's Santana CD, but I found it really quite nice to listen to.. *thumbs up*
Originally posted by Break Anywho.. tonight I am going as just a guy in a cloak with some props and stuff. I'm takin' my ol' wooden practice Katana out, for the costume (and beating people who egg/try to egg me). Oh yeah, I'm Trick-or-Treating by the way. :p
Oh.. I thought you went around as a guy in a cloak all the time.. You've destroyed the whole illusion :p
Originally posted by James I'm going to dress up as kuja and scare little girls.
o_O... I think the question for me is less "How much music do I have" and more "How much of it do I actually listen to".. Not a lot.. -_-.. and I don't download songs much anymore.. but when I did I think I got to about 40 then couldn't be bothered with more..
Originally posted by James Whoa...electronic music is my speciality. :) I don't really have time to go in-depth here (it's very late right now lol). What I will say, is that electronic music (because it is often not built with traditional instruments), is frequently misunderstood and labeled as "uncreative". However, the thing I love about electronica is the fact that there are no boundaries. Don't have the right instrument? Create your own from scratch. It's what I love about it...it's so flexible. It can do so much more than any other form of music on Earth. And as technology improves...it grows, expands and reaches new heights. In the right hands, electronic music can change your entire reason for being. :)
A lot of the time when I play around with my own music, I kind of end up inspired a little by electronic music.. Normal sounds can often sound a bit too flat, until you decide to distort them a little.. so yeah.. I actually tend to write worship songs, but I put a bit of electronic influence in there to make it sound almost unearthly..

I believe that maybe there is life on other planets.. maybe not.. unfortunately the stereotypical Christian viewpoint (stereotypical as in not necessarily true, so don't kill me if you disagree) is that "God never made aliens, so they don't exist".. whereas my viewpoint is "God never said he made aliens, but he never said he made dinosaurs either, so who knows..".. As for the guy in question.. depends where he was before he saw the UFO.. most likely a bar... but seriously.. no.. I don't think he saw a UFO..
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve TESTS don't prove anything. If they did, you should know there's a period after "done" and "they took six hours each" is a totally new sentence, which should be capitalized and punctuated appropriately
He doesn't necessarily have to know that.. he said "I know exactly how smart I am", which doesn't necessarily have to mean "I am smart" :p (no offence intended, cloricus.. I was just kidding ;) )
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve There are limits to everything, including the rights of a person. Equal rights and limited rights are two different things. Equal rights is insinuating that a person, no matter what gender, race, height, weight, this that or the next, will get the same treatment and the same rights as someone who is of another gender, race, etc... Limited rights is something totally different, that I believe needs to be in this world. If we, as people, were given total freedom, it would be anarchy.
Yeah, I agree with you on that, equal rights doesn't mean total freedom, just the same degree of freedom for everyone..
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve As far as I know, in England you basically become an adult at the age of 16, correct me if I'm wrong. This is what my boyfriend tells me at least. At 16, you graduate and you can leave or do whatever you want. In the United States, you don't become an adult till you turn 18. This is when you get all your rights. As a child, you still have rights, but when you turn 18, all of them now apply. The US may contain the first admendment; Freedom of Speech, association, press, and expression, just like anything, there is always a limit to that. You have freedom of speech as long as what you say doesn't cause harmful actions to be taken. If you talked in a public forum and said "Kill the president" they will most likely put you in jail for it.
Yeah, you're pretty much right on that.. at 16 you finish high school in the UK.. You can't actually drink alcohol until you're 18 (I hear it's higher in the US i think), but other than that you have pretty much every other right.. though I don't think you can vote until you're 18..
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve As far as equal rights go, ofcourse there needs to be that. It's stupid for the US to have in it's Declaration of Independence "All men are created equal" when we segregate and continue to be prejudice against so many. This isn't the land of the free, this is the land of the free for certain majority people. Equal rights is obviously something that needs to happen, and I truely can't figure out why it hasn't yet. The system has messed up somewhere.
It's a people thing- in general, everyone wants the same rights as everyone else, but the ones that can actually give them that want more rights, because they can have them if they want.. I may be wrong on that, it's just my interpretation..

One important point to know is that we can't even really understand what perfect is, because we're not.. If she wants a perfect mate, then she's going to have to be a perfect mate, too.. and that's just not in anyone's capacity..
Originally posted by Mystic's Knight hehe, so dang true...im affraid my godly band liking is limited to that band, i just dont have a firm grasp on wat me true beliefs are...its ok... i liked how many posts this generated over a single day...hehe..
Yeah, it's kind of died down now.. It's great to actually know of someone who's heard of and likes delirious.. I know that essentially they're trying to make Christian music more accessible to everyone, but I never really knew if it really worked.. so it's kind of good to know that it is working in a small way..

hmmm... I think censorship is all well and good, though they can sometimes get a bit carried away.. The media is a funny old thing- they'll censor some things which just seem stupid, and they'll let other things on the air which are pretty distasteful- like the recent Pot Noodle ads in the UK (but that's just my opinion on them).. I think a lot of the time the problem isn't necessarily censorship, but more 'editing stuff to say what we want'.. which is a kind of censorship, but you weren't particularly specific as to which type :p and I think at times the bigger problem with the media is they can be such a pain in the arse..

Halloween... Hmmm I'll probably be holding up my crucifix to all the trick-or-treaters that come round, and saying "away!! shoo!!" :D
Originally posted by James I think everyone should have equal rights, yes. But we're not talking about rights here. We're talking about a lack of good judgement in courts. This is partly why insurance rates have been going up; because stupid people who do stupid things bring stupid court cases forward...and stupid judges award them stupidly large amounts of money. Phew. That's it, in a nutshell. ;)
OK, I suppose a better question would be 'should these people have the right to do this'... :p I do see what you mean, it doesn't actually have a lot to do with rights at all.. but I think that alot of it actually stems from the fact that people feel that they have the right to anything- if you see what I mean..
Originally posted by Sara I wasn't even aware there were rules when I joined. Then again, if there were any, they weren't enforced, so I guess it didn't matter.
Well, I suppose if you count my joining on v.2. (as 'Dan Lucking'), then I blatantly went against the rules at first (having not read them, too).. by posting a post saying, essentially "You are all sad people".. but replacing "people" with something else.. The funny thing is, it was actually thimoc that changed my mind
Originally posted by Darkmoon I think I might've miss spelt that...
No, you spelt it fine.. a lot of people mis-spell it as "Monoke".. and I did at first, too.. It's been a while since I saw this anime, but from what I remember it was quite good.. I'll have to watch it again and get back to you properly.. What I do remember is that there seemed to be a lot of symbolism- I recognised that it was there but didn't fully understand it the first time (and I've yet to watch it again). Also, it was pretty odd.. at the end of the film I'd almost forgotten how it started..
