Originally posted by DarkOrderKnight "You're wrong about the whole God thing!"
*cheers*.. I've been waiting for someone to say that (in a joking manner, of course ;) )
Originally posted by DarkOrderKnight Is what I would say if I didn't have respect for peoples religious beliefs. But I do, so I really like the hymn. It's good. Not as long as most, but still very good. And I don't suppose you could put up a Mac copy of the midi. Damn 'Stuffit Expander' prog won't unstuff the zip file.
I'd love to.. but midi isn't a valid file type for attachments, otherwise I would've attached the midi file from the start, rather than a zip file. Sorry about that ^^ oh yeah.. and it's not really a hymn.. oh no.. heh.. hymns are something different entirely.. ^^ (hyms are a specific, more classical style of worship song)

Much as I'd love to edit that last post, I'm afraid I can't actually attach anything, since nothing was attached before. So yeah. Don't say "Deus, don't double post you evil evil spamming man" or something like that.. Well, not in a serious way, anyway.. bleh Here's the midi unfortunately it's a little rushed. I need to alter the piano track the second time through (it's not supposed to suddenly slow down again when you go back into the verse.. but I was lazy and just copied the piano track from the first time round)
Originally posted by Justin Last but not least, Deus; He's my brother in Christ, and I know I can talk to him when I need encouragement.
*breaks down and cries* I can't believe I missed you out, Justin. Both in this thread and in my sig. and I keep forgetting to PM you.. anyway. I repent of my evil ways and correct the mistake ^^ Justin: though I don't talk to him half, or even a quarter as much as I'd like.. he's a thoroughly cool guy ^^ and serious about his faith at the same time.. *thumbs up* No worries, buddy. I didn't even give a second thought to whether or not you had mentioned me. ^_^ -Justin heh.. I probably exaggerated a little bit with the whole repentance thing... mheh ^^ Another person I forgot.. Kittie: Damn cool. Slightly odd (but we all are..heh) and doesn't tend to have bad moods, to the best of my knowledge. Wants to start her own cult ;) heh
Originally posted by YamiLink90 On the adventure arena , whats it mean by recruitment ? If anybody could answer this , I'd be very grateful !!! :stupid:
If in doubt, go in and check. Of course.. that doesn't apply to all situations... mheh It means the sub-forum where you post your sign up threads for RPGs...
Originally posted by Mist Thanks DEM. I'm far from brilliant, but I'll take the praise. ^^
Brilliance is a very subjective thing. I loved the poem... someone else might hate it. I thought it was brilliant ;)

That was great. There's a very specific reason why I think that poem is.. well.. brilliant, and really touching.. but I won't go into it ^^. I'll just stick with "great poem" ;)
Originally posted by Devidramon This is very good. Though personally I always preferred the longer ones, but that?s just because I used to be in the choir and during practice, by the time we?d said the same thirteen words over and over and over and over and over again, slooooooowly, I wanted to shoot myself then and there. ?Kings and kingdoms, they shall all pass away, but there?s something about that name,? over and over sometimes for five or ten solid minutes. The lead singer (which ain?t me) got to say more, but it was like ?Jesus, Jesus, Jeeeeeeeeeesu-u-uhhhhhhhs, there?s just something about that name, master, savior, Jeeeeeeeeeesu-u-uhhhhhhhs, let all heaven and earth proclaim,? and onto the kings and kingdoms part. Veeery slooowly, of course. I literally want to scream every time I hear it, even to this very day. People think to be scarred for life, you have to have been locked in a freezer as a kid or something, but torture is torture and it will stick with you for years to come. I?d let Jackie Chan kick me in... a certain area... as hard as he could if it could ensure that I?d never hear that song again as long as I live.
If I ever caught anyone practising my songs in such a way I would.. um.. not be impressed. Anyway.. midifile should be up either tonight or tomorrow. I'm going home from uni at 6 (rather than like.. 10) specifically to work on that. And a few other midifiles, the songs to which I'll post up sooner or later.
Originally posted by S@bretooth Great Song Deus_Ex, I can't wait to hear the midi file to hear how it should be sung lol, maybe even a rock version of it could be cool too, most worship songs are a couple of veses or so, repeated over again, i like that alot because that's less words to remember :p
It does depend entirely on what you mean by "rock"... I have a very.. "unique" style of writing music, whether I'm writing a slow song, a fast song, a simple song, or whatever. Unfortunately it's the only way I can do it ^^; I've tried incorporating elements from other styles, but it doesn't work. When I write a song, I can't just set out to "write a rock style song" or something.. I just write a song and see where it goes. Once I've posted up a lot of my songs, you'll probably see what I mean.. I NEED a hosting plan of some sort at some point.. so I can upload and post links to MP3s of my songs.. I have a specific way of singing too, which you just can't really tell in the midifiles.. I've kind of mixed elements of how a few worship leaders sing (such as the "Gareth Robinson Growl", which one day happened by fluke), but at the same time, I don't really sound like them... bleh.. one day you'll see what I mean ^^ soon as I get a hosting plan..
Originally posted by S@bretooth I don't think I would mock my own religion Deus_Ex lol. BTW I'm glad you liked it :)
heh.. yeah that's why I said "which I'm sure it's not" mheh.. ;) Oh yeah, and about the Deus_Ex thing.. the underscore is gone now ^^.. mheh.. it always annoyed me anyway.. ^^

HEH HEH!!!! That is so funny.. so long as it's not meant in a mocking way towards Revelation... which I'm sure it is not ;) That was pretty good *thumbs up*

*opens up his notebook* meh.. I have going on 15 songs and 5 ideas in this thing.. today the featured song is "God of Heaven".. enjoy... or don't... either way.. just read it. and criticism is always welcome (so long as it's not the "you're wrong about the whole God thing" type) explanatory note: some worship songs are really short, and just get repeated to drive the point home. That's what worship is about at times.. so that's why these "songs" sometimes don't have a lot to them *gets to work on the midi file* ----------- God of Heaven, You came to Earth Took away our sin, gave us rebirth Lord Almighty, We praise Your name And give You thanks for all you've made You made us in Your image To Worship at Your feet And we are powerless but to praise You You are the Lord Almighty You were, You are, and You will be Our hearts are powerless but to love You To love You
Originally posted by SSJ5 Vegeta Haha... One time I got into a fight with a bathtub because it thought it beat up my friend the toilet. I was drunk as well. I stated the toilet was my friend because it took all my s*** and let me pee on it, and if I did that to any of my friends I'd get beat up...
mheheh.. that's probably funnier than mine.. I'll give a full list of drunken things I did in a "former life".. - Gave beer to a rabbit (which I soon realised was very cruel and not that funny at all..) - Walked a 5 minute distance, in the wrong direction.. and it took me an hour. - Fell over, intentionally, because it didn't hurt at the time - broken my watch.. somehow.. still haven't figured this one out yet So yeah. Essentially, in the UK we can drink when we are 18. And I did ^^;.. but I don't get like that these days..

I dunno.. um.. it just kind of "happens".. but don't pretend to be someone else. Roughly translating as "be yourself" (heh). There's two reasons for that- 1- We all have it planted into our minds so often that it's the first natural response :p 2- If you try to be someone else, eventually people will suss you out and.. well.. and then you usually have to go through it all over again..

You know someone likes you when their friend gives you a peice of paper saying "will you go out with this person" kinda thing. What can I say.. I was 12. I was really stupid. I wrote the peice of paper. My friend didn't realise he was supposed to read it out, and instead he handed it over.. and it was then torn up pretty quickly.. Needless to say I pretty much avoided the girl in question, and my friend forgot about the whole thing... ^^ heh.. so there you go. I don't really know what my point is here...

quality Well.. I actually looked at the site.. heh.. and I can pretty much say that it looks cool ;) *thumbs up*
Originally posted by S@bretooth Trust me, we don't burn witches at the stake ;)
No. We don't but we did. The point is that we're not supposed to. ;)
Originally posted by S@bretooth As a baptist, i disagree, while we may not roll around the floor, overpowered by the holy spirit as the Pentecostals are, we do believe in gifts of the holy spirit and speaking in tounges, we just had a sermon on tounges a couple of months ago.
Yeah, it's more the Catholics and Protestants, in my limited experience, which have a slight lacking when it come to the Holy Spirit. However, having said that, I know that there are at the very least, a few Catholics out there who aren't actually so bad. More about Catholics in the next point ;) I'm technically Anglican (Protestant), but I try not to limit myself to a denomination. Our particular church is brilliant- we have people of all sorts of denominations there, and we encourage absolutely anything that the Holy Spirit may want to do. Granted, not a lot of rolling around on the floor happens, because most people don't feel comfortable to do it, but at some Protestant-hosted Christian events, it happens. The only problem with rolling around on the floor and stuff is- a lot of the time it is God doing it. But at the same time, there's a lot of rolling around which is just a case of copying something which looks cool and seeing if you get anything out of it. So yeah. I don't discourage anything, but you should be wary of those who just want to look like God is doing something to them. If so, then it's probably not God. God only works in those who want to be worked on inside, rather than as a performance of sorts. At the same time, a lot of it is genuine, so you should really pre-judge any particular action, either.
Originally posted by S@bretooth As a former catholic, Another difference is that catholics answer to the pope, wehras I believe that God doesnt put orders through the pope, also, the bible I have says that angels do not want woprship, with the exception of one, but catholics believe in praying to angels, also they believe in praying to mary, the mother of god, this is why i got out, to me it was just a feeling of wrongness, not saying it is, it just felt that way to me
As my understanding goes, Catholics aren't encouraged to read scripture at all, and are taught certain bits by their ministers. This is only second- possibly third hand info though, so don't take it as absolute truth. Either way.. Praying to Angels and to Mary defeats the whole objective of Jesus. He came so that we could be unified with God and have a direct connection. It also directly goes against the first commandment: "I am the Lord your God... ...Worship no other Gods but me" Prayer is a form of worship, whichever way you look at it, so praying to Mary, or Angels is directly against that.

Kaam down, Kaam down!.. (another joke that UK people may understand) I just thought of an exceptionally strange thing we do... When something is something, we say it isn't, in some cases.. we rarely actually say this.. but we say it enough for me to consider it a "regional thing"... for example: "Quality, that isn't!!!" : that is quality "Sound guy, he isn't!!": He is a sound (generally meaning, OK to get on with, in this context) guy "Nice, this stuff isn't!!": this stuff is nice
Originally posted by Solo Tremaine 'Gorden Bennet'
WOOHOO!! Gordon Bennet!!.. I always wondered who that guy was.. we say that here a lot too. I think "duck" is a very local thing.. I say that because everyone who goes to university around here, from other parts of the uk.. hates the place because everyone calls them "duck" I thought of some more ones around here.. "Sound" (used in the same context as "quality") "Sorted" (as above) There's a very "famous" saying around here.. which comes from the way people used to talk around here, 50 years ago or so (we've toned it down a lot now): "Ken ye kick a boe agen' a woe til it go won bost" Which roughly translates as "Can you kick a ball against a wall until it bursts" Like I said.. that's how we used to talk around here..
-
Meh.. I was thinking about this a little bit. Anyone who talks to me for prolongued amounts of time on AIM/MSN will probably know that I say "quality" a lot. That's because in Stoke on Trent, "quality", means (in this particular context) "sweet", "cool", "great".. whatever you choose to say. I never use this on messengers, but around here we also call people "duck", for some reason.. and we greet people by saying "Ay up".. so a typical Stoke on Trent greeting is "Ay up, Duck".. What can I say.. my area is weird.. Anyway, I was wondering.. are there any really weird, Regional Syings, or Phrases, in your area?.. Cos it's kind of interesting, seeing how people actually talk to people in their area.. unless you live in a really boring place.. mheh..

meh.. I once told someone that my middle name was Ezekiel.. and they believed me.. but no.. it's not. I think I've already said my middle name ^^ if not, then my middle name is Christopher..
Originally posted by Morph Hey buddy, if your going to insult me, spell "hypocrite" right... And while we're on that matter.. he decided not to delete the thread because he wasn't really sure if there was anything wrong with it.. and to be honest.. there isn't..
Originally posted by Morph Unless of course I'm assuming correctly and your a lazy fool.... To say the least.
That's a terribly arrogant assumption to make..
Originally posted by Morph One more thing, I've deleted my post, but seeing as Mitch has said his answer that he'll just leave this "SUCK UP" thread here. I'm not trying to be mean but um, his words and actions were unacceptable in my opinion. --Mike
this thread may have been a "Suck up" thread.. if it went something like this: "James: you are the coolest person ever!! Yeah!! You rock!! Make me a moderator??" but since his post was nothing like that, I wouldn't really class it as a "suck up" thread. A little peice of advice: give it a rest. You're not achieving anything at all by trying to make it seem that you are above this thread in some way. There are a few people on here I'd like to give respect to.. Duo Maxwell: Really great person. And crazy.. but makes interesting conversations, seemingly from nowhere.. Sara: Another really great person. Great sense of humour, and you have a compassion which goes pretty unmatched by anyone I know.. Mystic's Night (Mike): A good listener. Whenever I have to say something, he's always there.. no matter how freaked out I might get. Lady Asphyxia: Very strange person.. but in a really good way. Has quite a sense of humour.. and says "lol" a lot.. well.. only as a silence filler.. Rain: *breaks down and cries* heh.. private joke. Kind of.. we do that a lot, in a jokey way.. Also a great person, who's fun to talk to ^^ Mitch: One word. "Devious". He knows what I mean ;)

That's kind of like asking me "how did you find otakuboards".. the thing is.. I really don't remember.. at all.. I mean.. one day I just ended up here.. insulting you all on my first post, and then growing to love the place. Of course.. I'd never think of making that kind of post again ^^;.. (this was way back in v.2. before I even knew that the words "Deus Ex Machina" existed..) Anime is kind of the same thing to me.. I don't really remember how it happened.. but I kind of blame the sci-fi channel for showing it.. (I think my brother and I started gradually watching it on there)

With great power comes great responsability
Dan L replied to vegeta rocker's topic in General Discussion
it's happened to me quite a bit.. but in the way that I've noticed that someone has a remarkably similar personality to me, rather than necessarily having a common interest. I think I made a few of my friends that way, but I can never remember exactly how it happened. What exactly is this "responsibility" which you talk about in the title.. or was that just a random quote with not a lot of significance..?
