Renaming?

heh.. I was feeling really silly when I first played FF7.. so I kind of gave them odd names: Cloud: Dan Actually, that one's my name, and not that odd Barret: Idiot What can I say?.. from the start it just seemed that he didn't like me, so my revenge was swift.. Tifa: Mrs X I have no idea why.. my brother thought it was a good idea Aeris: I forget exactly.. but I didn't call her Aeris Red XII: Fluffy ...You'd probably be better not asking Cait Sith: Cait Wow.. big change.. he lost a name *reeks of originality* Cid: Bob Yeah... heh.. I think Yuffie kept her name, and I never got anyone else past that (I kind of didn't play it after a while, cos I got FF7, 8, and 9 in a short time, without finishing either one.. heh) But the problem I had was that when people on here talk about the storyline, they always use the original names, so I got very confused, and the second time I used the original names
2. A lot of advancements are brought on by war, and sheer chance.. like the microwave oven. The heating properties of microwaves were discovered when a radar operator left his chocolate bar on the machine, and the microwaves melted it. Some of the ways things are discovered are quite odd..
3. In my opinion it's an incremental thing.. I wouldn't agree with a 7 year age difference when the younger person is 13, actually I wouldn't even agree with a 4/5 year difference there, but if they were 20 or over I wouldn't see it as a problem. My reason for that is that between the ages of 12-18 there's a huge difference in maturity between the two extremes. After that, there's not much of an increase in maturity.. you just kind of learn more. So yeah. I'm more against huge differences in matturity, than huge age differences.
4. second most likely to become a mod. That's certainly not a bad thing Congrats to all who won, and all who came second, and all who came third, despite not knowing who you are.
5. I actually fail to see the funny side. I mean, sure.. if no-one died, maybe it might have been slightly amusing (but I doubt it). but then, if no-one died, you guys would probably never have heard about this. Young kids generally have a very loose grasp of reality as it is.. You can tell them that TV isn't real all you want- they aren't necessarily going to believe you. You guys all seem so eager to blame someone. Just shut up. I'd put an expletive in there too but it's not my personal way of doing things. It's obviously not entirely the kid's fault.. if she had any perspective on reality she wouldn't have done that. So some of you now want to blame the parents. They were there too, so they seem the natural target. The truth is that you know NOTHING about what happened. You can't possibly keep your eye on a kid the WHOLE time as some of you seem to be suggesting, and unfortunately these things don't normally happen slowly. The kid probably didn't announce that she was going after spongebob, stroll slowly over to the side of the boat and jump in, while her parents said "yes dear, just be back before midnight". What's far more likely is that the kid said for a while before she jumped in that spongebob was probably down there, and jumped in to prove it after her parents told her he wasn't real. When someone challenges your personal belief, don't you try to prove it? It's bad enough that these guys lost a child, let alone that every goes around blaming them for the child's death. And of course, since they were probably the first ones to blame, for most people, they wanted to shift it onto someone else, which is a perfectly natural thing when you feel blameless about something, so they try to pass the blame onto the producers of the show that made their kid jump in the water. At the same time, the lawyers presenting that case will be after money, so they're unlikely to object due to the fact that the company is not to blame (look at some other law cases and you'll see what I mean). The company never actually intented to make kids drown by producing the show, and they couldn't possibly have thought that some kids would actually do it, but still according to Endymion they stated themselves that you can't breathe underwater. My points are: 1- Just because someone died, doesn't mean someone should be blamed.. so stop trying to 2- How anyone can find it funny when a life is lost, I'll never know
6. if you consider stealing £800 - ish over about a month, from a workplace to be worthy of a half-serious crime, let's just say I'm step beyond witnessing.. let's also say the £800 is back in the company's hands, and the guy commiting the crime got "dismissed", and never figured out why he took the damn money
7. I like it.. I don't think you did spring an injustice at all.. *ahem* *points to title* trying to conceal your "secret" identity, eh?.. heh
8.
Originally posted by Fire Star Does anyone know where you get Eden? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ He is a GF I don't know where to get him or who you draw him from if ya draw him at all.

When you get the ragnarok (spaceship.. if you don't know what I mean you can't get Eden yet, I don't think.. or maybe you can with the garden but I never noticed..), if you fly to the very left corner of the world map, you'll find a small island (I mean.. REALLY small, you can't walk about on it in the world map or anything), that you can land on, called the Deep Sea Research Centre (trust me, that'll make more sense when you try it). When you go in, there's a "path", lighter than the rest of the floor, that you have to follow in order to actually get anywhere. If you go outside it, you'll encounter an enemy (regardless of whether you turn encounter-none on or not), and get forced back onto the path. When you get to the blue light in the middle of the room, you have to fight a dragon, then you have the option of begging for mercy, but keep fighting (select the "never" option) then he says another question, and you have to select a hidden option (below the second) for your answer. Then you fight Bahamut, and he will become your GF if you win. Word of advice: there are two islands on the world map, one on the south-west edge of Galbadia's continent, the other in the north-east edge of esthar's continent. Both are packed with hidden draw points.. you'll know you've got the right islad (there are a few on the edge of esthar) when you can hardly move (pressing X, of course) without drawing some decent spells. These islands are packed with Ultimas, which, when you have 100 are VERY good to juction to: - Strength, or any other statistic, but strength is a good idea - Elemental defense. 100 ultimas gives you 100% defense against ALL elements. Then after getting Bahamut, if you go back to the deep sea research centre there's a big hole in the floor where the blue core was before. If you climb down there, you have to solve a little puzzle involving untis of steam pressure, to get to a floor, and then you get to fight Ultima weapon. Draw Eden from Ultima weapon.
(The last paragraph was intentionally more vague since he only wanted to know where Eden was and who you draw it from.. ;) )
9. When I was 15 or so apparently I looked like either Robin Williams or Harrison Ford (depending who you asked) but I don't think so..
Originally posted by Mitch I agree. Make it four...oh, you already have. Good Jeh-Rah.
*goes with the flow just for fun* Make that five Disclaimer: This man (Deus Ex Machina) has no idea what he's talking about. He has never seen a picture of James and therefore any comment may be disregarded as you may wish to do so.
10.
Originally posted by Mitch Actually, I do believe it would be not many times, but almost infinite times. Because, a moment wouldn't be the same exactly, our brains cannot remember every surreal, vivid point of something, and going along with that, a moment is never relived in the exact same manner, posture, thought process, and so on. Also, the new reaction you would cause in a situation would lead to a reaction of that situation to a seemingly different reaction and situation which would lead to reactions and situations from the other situations newly-made parameters and definitions. So basically, it would be an endless, spiralling paradox.
....I could have said that... I just didn't feel like going all intellectual... *grumbles* :p
Originally posted by Mitch So, baically, you'd just be ebbing in time, and just screwing around with pasts, and making them newly-forged pasts, which in turn cause advents upon the future and many consequences and other actions which never spiralled into your life and time on earth. Which would, eventually, lead you back to where you'd go back in time again, and start the process all over again, only in a different situation for you to mess with. As I said, one big, spiralling paradox.
Yeah but I'm sure you'd come to be satisfied with one of those alternate timelines... I suppose it all depends how picky you are.. if you were after absolute perfection then you'd be taking a while (where "infinity" is a while... a LOOONG while), but if you're willing to settle for something high enough to meet your standards but low enough to be less than infinite, then you're sorted ^^
Originally posted by James I could avoid some of the nastier events.
Yeah but the really nasty stuff is what builds you up... Much as I'd love to go back and stop myself from doing what I did at my last job, so I wouldn't get sacked, I know that if I wasn't sacked, I wouldn't have the faith I have today, which is far stronger than any concepts of strength I had before.
11. I went once with some guys from work (back when I actually worked.. now I'm just a student).. the only problem was that I wear glasses, and they steamed up. Not only that but the mask steamed up too.. at least when one of them does you can at least see something.. but I had two layers of steamed up surface between me and outside. Surprisingly, I didn't get "killed" all that often. edit: ooo... 999th post... *savours the moment*

Snow

I think we got a bit of snow (Just coating the ground) this morning, but it frosted over or something.. (It was hard by the time I walked on it anyway) Not a huge amount, but more than we've had the rest of the winter ^^
13.
Originally posted by James That way, I could avoid life's mistakes...and change certain things. Then my life would be perfect, I think.
Surely not.. once you avoid one mistake, everything will have changed and you won't know what to expect any more :p You'd have to do it several times to get it right
14. I have a little brother, 14 years old. Sometimes we get on OK, sometimes we don't. But I wouldn't send him away or anything like that...
15. "Electrical Storm" by U2.. it's fairly knew, but as soon as I heard the line "You're in my mind all the time, I know that's not enough" I just kind of.. clicked.. or something.. I dunno.. I just like that song and also "Good and Gracious" by Gareth Robinson.. which I doubt many (if any) will know.. but it's a very cool up-beat, fast, loud worship song.. and I think it's really cool
16. *doesn't actually believe that's what happens when you die but hey... assuming I did* I'd be me again... that'd freak SO many people out...
17. Bleh.. it was on on the morning news.. but I was way too tired to actually pay attention. Not that the speech itself was boring, but the second coming could have happened and I wouldn't have noticed.. OK.. that's not quite true but it gives you some idea of what I'm like in mornings.. so yeah... I don't know my opinion yet but once I do (i.e. once I see or read the thing) I'll let you all know.
18. (To my brother): "Don't even think about it..... YOU THOUGHT ABOUT IT!!!! *punches brother*" (General Common Language from me): "Heh"; "So yeah"; "Oh right" (I used to say this a lot): Mah brian am frazzen under (My brain has froze over-- but the kind of way you're likely to say it if it did) ... I know there's more.. I may add them at some point when I remember them..
19. Sounds like the company wants someon e new and less experienced, that they can pay less.. That's really bad. It's not even as if your dad was a slacker after lots of pay, like so many other people out there.. he seems a really honest guy who got screwed by the company.. which always sucks.. Just hang in there, dude..
Originally posted by liamc2 Sometimes you just have to wonder if God is really trying us, this turn of events has made me wonder if I'm being punished for some great unknown sin and will forever end up working as some stupid kid wondering what the hell went wrong with his life.
I assume you're Christian based on that statement.. this comment is based on that assumption ^^ Judging by a *possible* similar situation in my family (as in, it hasn't happened yet but it may do) I'd say Yes and No. No you're not being punished. One of the biggest misconceptions in the Christian religion is that you're put in situations to be "puniushed" by God.. that generally doesn't happen. At the most, you may be put in a situation to be directed away from something sinful, but I highly doubt this is the case. In Christian terms, I'd say either you're being directed towards something new, or you're being tested to see if you'll trust God to sort it all out.. which is really hard, but I know people who've been in similar situations, and trusted, and things worked out better than they were before. So yeah.. just don't start thinking that you're being punished for something, even if it is a very natural assumption to come to. All that leads to is self-doubt.
20.
Originally posted by Hybrid On the label to a milkshake: Contains milk. (well duh, thats why its called a MILKshake)
It's even worse when they label a packet of nuts: WARNING: CONTAINS NUTS!!.. .... (on looking, I realise someone else has already said it.. but my point still stands ;P)
21. What would you do if someone started on you? Only one person's ever started on me.. I kind of just.. stood there.. this was about 8 years ago. Anyway.. this is what happened: The school "hard man" thought it was a good idea to put the school "wimp" in the skip (an English "dumpster") and I didn't.. so I stopped him. Random insults flew by, which I don't remember.. then he punched me in the mouth.. and I stood there and laughed at him... no-one's ever started a fight with me since... and I don't really call that encounter a "fight" What is your style Standing there... (see above) What would you do, if you walked past a group of people beating up another group? Depends. mostly on if it was my group they were beating up, or if I saw the start of the fight.. if I don't know anything about the fight, it's not my place to get involved.

Fire alarms

A friend of ours died early last year.. at 4:30 in the morning. Every so often the house alarm goes off at night.. always at exactly 4:30 in the morning.. so yeah..
23. "Is your phone turned on?" (asked over the phone) Not quite the same as what most of you have said.. but that was just such a stupid question I considered sending the guy away...
24.
Originally posted by Boba Fett I would choose theirs without question.
It's not so much the "choosing theirs" that bothers me.. though admittedly it does.. what bothers me is the "without question".. o_O
25. All pretty accurate except "cold or aloof"... I think.. I...think that's way off ^^... I'm not particularly tragic. And I'm never motivated, and rarely determined.. OH YEAH!! UNPREDICTABLE! *jumps out of a high window clutching a steering wheel and a seatbelt* [img]http://guru.theotaku.com/mononoke/moro.gif kind of accurate.. Me? patient? Cheers.. that's really reassuring.. yep.. though I prefer to be called a "houseplant" ..... oh yeah.. I know it.. ;) (let's be clear on this... I'm kidding) that was vaguely fun-like..
