Edit: Okay, the first Dossier is online. I've kept some parts of it fairly general so that the players can fill in the details as they go. I have just tried to provide a bit of background and context for the players. Although we will be putting up more Dossier items soon, this is really the main one I wanted to write prior to the auditions going live.
Ohhhh! A mysterious deck that next to nothing is known about. Hehe! It hasn't even launched yet and already there is intrigue! :catgirl: I'm guessing that we won't get to know what the letters refer to since I also imagine that it's something that the players would learn about as the story progressed. But! I can take a guess at what the new acronym NARSIA stands for. Considering what was posted in the first section of information - Along with the fact that they dragged the journalist out of the ship. And that would be North Atlantic Republic Security Intelligence Agency! ... or something like that. *shot*

I usually check my PM inbox which usually reads about 100,000 a day, you know trying to keep up with the fanbase and all.
You must have a special inbox then since mine says a member can only have 20,000 pm's total. :p Sadly, I have all of about 23 pm's total, though I suppose that's probably because I tend to talk to those I know via AIM. Or in Indi's case, I just wander over to her room and pester her directly. Hehe. Though that really is a part of my OtakuBoards routine... I'm forever asking her questions about this place. o_O

Illusion of Gaia.
Oh! That's the one with the boy who transforms into other types of warriors right? One with long blonde hair and the other a type of energy being. He has a flute he plays melodies on to unlock parts of the dungeons if I remember correctly. If I have the game right, my brother has it, along with his older SNES system. I never finished it, but the game was fun! I would like to see a remake of that or a sequel too. Though knowing my luck, they'd do it for a system that I don't have. XP Other things that I'd like to see have already been mentioned. :catgirl:

I sincerely hope that you do extend it, I've been feeling a little under the weather and haven't been online much at all in the last week. So though I'm feeling better, an extension for a few days would be appreciated.
I'm glad to hear you are feeling better. Now as for an extension on the voting, I am going to do that since so many people I know, after doing finals they were just burned out. Myself being one of them. o_O So I think an extension is more than reasonable in this case. So with that in mind the voting will remain open through Friday the 9th to make up for the bad timing of finals for people last week. :catgirl:

1. What do you think makes up a community (or makes a community a community)? (eg. is it common interest, geographical proximity, relational ties, etc.?)
Well traditionally a community is usually considered to be a group of people living in a common location who interact with each other. Usually it's a similar interest or relation that results in the contact. However, the definition of the word community has evolved to mean individuals who share interests, regardless of their location or degree of interaction.
2. Do you consider OtakuBoards as a community? If so, what are you reasons for this? If not, why not?
I haven't been around long enough to really say, however based on how long this site has been around I would tentatively state that it is. Usually if something isn't a community on some level... It just doesn't stick around.
3. Do you think online communities are valid? (I ask this because I know someone who thinks they aren't and that all who do are deluded)[/COLOR']
Why not? If you think about it, before the Internet and even in spite of it, other means of communication were used such as letters to keep in contact with people who shared similar interests. Online places like OtakuBoards are similar in that people are looking for contact with someone who has similar interests. Oh and for that person who thinks those who do believe that a place like this could be a type of community are deluded? I have a question for them. Have they ever been a member of a place like this? I'll give their words more consideration if that's the case. If not... whack them upside the head and tell them to join and find out! :p

Lions and Tigers and Bears.... *shot* Hehe. :catgirl: Why does the crime seem to fit? I mean I don't even know Raiha and yet I can easily imagine her doing something like that. o_O Now a few things! Only a few since Sir Allamorph is much better at grammar issues than I am. However I can point out a few format issues.
Chibi Master was Ace's assistant. While she was sometimes out there and a bit neurotic, she had a tendency to bring new light to a subject and make people think a bit more. Accidental or not, it was a useful skill.
Nothing major here, you've just somehow managed to put a line in separating the sentence.
"Court is now in session for the trial of State vs. Raiha Nuevo. I will accept no badgering of witnesses or perjury in my courtroom. This trial will be handled in a fair and just manner. Is the defense ready?"
Same thing here, just need to get rid of that extra line of space in the middle of the sentence. Anyway, as Indi said, it will be interesting to see if Raiha manages to not be in trouble for taking of all things... a lion to the theater. Hehe.

I haven't played the types of games you've listed Kenso, but going strictly by the definition of table top games then I've played... Clue! It's great fun. In Clue, players move from room to room in a mansion to solve the mystery of: who done it, with what, and where? Players are dealt character, weapon, and location cards after the top card from each card type is secretly placed in the confidential file in the middle of the board. Players must move to a room and then make an accusation against a character saying they did it in that room with a specific weapon. The player to the left must show one of any cards accused to the accuser if in that player's hand. Through deductive reasoning each player must figure out which character, weapon, and location are in the secret file. To do this, each player must uncover what cards are in other players hands by making more and more accusations. Once a player knows what cards the other players are holding they will know what cards are in the secret file. And that's the general idea of how the game works. Also... I haven't played this in forever! I need to fix that! :o

Well I had thought of doing something different if people wanted to do more than single elimination, but since that was not the case, I probably will be doing a three way final battle! It will be more than just a single assignment though since it will be the battle for the winning spot! It will still be just one round though. :catgirl:

Writing Another random OB Member fanfic? Yes Please!
Sabrina replied to The Spectacular Professor's topic in Creative Works

So here's the basic idea. It's pretty much a courtroom dramedy. Murder case. I haven't fully gotten a plot set up yet and I need some character suggestions. I need: A victim (anyone out there willing to get whacked?)
*raises hand* I read Dessy's the DailyOtaku the other day and considering the last article, a newbie to the boards makes the perfect victim! Silly oldies! *laughs wildly* Not sure how the rest would go but I'm sure you'll work it out. :catgirl: -
No! :p Not really, I read far more than I ever write. Homework yes, but little else. Though I did start rpging here a short while ago so we'll see. But in general, I have no interest in doing my own story, working with others to create one? Yes. Writing one on my own? Bah!
I only write for fun so it's just a hobby and nothing more.
And this is his idea of fun! Click! o_O *pokes Darren* :D

Firstly, does this seem like too much of a mammoth task for someone who has only just joined the OB? Will it be too much for me to handle without the assistance of other, more experienced members?
Never! *shot* This from a member who's been here all of a month and a half. Where does the time go? If feels like an eternity! o_O Anyway, Sir Allamorph already covered what I would have mentioned and I agree. I can't see why join date would even matter at all. I started a poetry contest here when I had only been a member just over a week so seriously... no need to wait at all if you want to look into running an rpg. So with that being said... once you've got more up I'll be back to take a look at it. :catgirl:

:p And done, well other than for my own, heh. Now we just need more people to vote and vote nao! Though I suppose the fact that many of the contestants have finals this week doesn't help. XP
True! Myself included since I took my last final yesterday. I'll probably set a time for the middle of next week to make up for people having finals this week. Right now I intend to wait until this weekend to see just how many votes are in. If by say Sunday it's still pretty slim I'll extend it at that point, after all, school comes first!

I'll say it again... Happy Birthday James and Adam! :catgirl: I use to have parties when I was a kid but now I just do stuff with friends. Like going out to dinner or a movie. It's great fun since I don't really care for the big party scene so just close friends and a fun evening is great. My parents retired and moved to Southern Utah last summer so I no longer get together with my family since I stayed in SLC to attend college. And since it's a six hour drive to get to where they are... I didn't go home last year. o_O My parents did send me a nice care package last September though, which was fun to get.

I'm sorry to all those I affend but I can't stand Fruits Basket!
No one expects you to like every anime show out there. However I am going to comment on these other erroneous statements of yours:
It's all lovey-dovey crap like that!
Uh, you're missing the point, it's not a show about killing nor about action scenes so it can hardly be called crap if it's true to the type of story it's mean to be. And that is a comedy, drama and romance with a dash of the supernatural tossed in for fun.
It needs more action and killing! Again: I am sorry to all those I affend!
No it doesn't need action and killing, because if you tossed that in... it wouldn't be Fruits Basket anymore now would it? I think the phrase you are looking for is, I don't like it because I prefer anime with action and killing in it. Saying something is crap/garbage/etc is pointless and really unnecessary; because that is opinion only, your opinion. Just as expecting a show to have it is unnecessary too, I really dislike pointless killing and slaughter, but why should anime producers only make shows that I would like, or that you would? Diversity in media is a good thing, because then everyone can find something to watch that they enjoy. ;)

Home? Phaidra had not expected to get such a strange response from Lucia over her using her kitchen to make some cakes and tea. Usually, other than an initial response of surprise, people were pleased with it. But this utter silence that was finally broken by her familiar was a bit unsettling and confusing. How could a familiar and their partner be so totally different? She had barely met her but Lucia was so withdrawn, hardly saying anything other than to explain things, while Ruby was very hospitable and social; making her feel welcome. It was so different from the utterly jarring effect of her partner’s silence. Even when Lucia finally joined them out on the balcony, accepting some of the tea and cakes she had made, the conversation was so short and to the point it still felt uncomfortable. I guess I won’t be talking with her very much, which was an odd feeling; Phaidra was not use to dealing with others who were so reserved. “What kind of place did you wish to look for?” The question came out of nowhere, startling Phaidra a bit at it's suddenness. Phaidra set the little plate she had been holding down on the small table between the chairs they were sitting on. “Do you mean for where I will be staying?” Lucia nodded. “There is no rush, but knowing what you want will make it easier to search for a place that will suit your needs.” “Hmmm.” Phaidra looked to Sarvel who cocked her head to the side and shrugged. “Probably something similar to what you have.” She was too busy running it through her mind to notice Lucia’s look of surprise. “I like to cook so a professional kitchen is a must.” She looked back at Lucia, “I also intend to work on arcane circle designs so having an open space like you do would be ideal.” “Arcane circle designs?” “Yes, if I’m to adapt or make changes so arcane circles will work more effectively on Earth, then that has to be done here. Theoretical work back home just isn’t the same, you have to test it.” “You’re a studier of magic?” “Yes.” Phaidra watched on as Lucia pulled out the strange device she had used earlier. What in the world is that? It doesn’t look like human technology. But then the question was lost as Lucia started asking her questions, firing them off rapidly as to actual dimensions for the amount of open space she would want. Then she moved to specifies for any equipment she would want in a professional kitchen, before she finally put the device away. “Tomorrow we’ll look into finding what you need. For now though I’m going to ask you to not create any form of circle here. Some of the material I work with is spiritually receptive. It is shielded, but it would be better to avoid any accidental reactions between the two.” “Of course, I... I wasn’t planning on it.” She stood up, gathering the dishes to take back into the kitchen to clean up; leaving Sarvel and Ruby out on the balcony as the two were discussing different types of fish and just which was the tastiest. It didn’t take her long to clean things up and carefully put everything away, she had been doing that for quite a long time too. The little bite sized squares of cake carefully put into air tight containers that were stacked in the fridge and the rest of the dishes were carefully stored away once they had been cleaned. Phaidra was heading back out to the main room of Lucia’s place when the unmistakable aura of another Shinigami could be felt coming toward them. Who? She turned to ask Lucia who was coming only to see her getting up from where she had been sitting at a computer terminal. Lucia seemed unconcerned and merely waited for whoever it was to knock at her door before moving to answer it. Phaidra watched as Lucia opened it to admit two strange individuals, or rather one, a Shinigami who not only was his hair and eyes blue, but every stitch of clothing he wore other than a spot or two was some eye glaring shade of blue. The woman had to be one of the species who served as familiars for the Shinigami; her aura was clearly that of one of the races capable of switching between forms based on their species. It was a little odd to see a werecat running around in human form, at least for Phaidra that is. The few she had run across had always been in their feline form. She had an elegant beauty about her and moved with an unconscious grace, her eyes taking everything in as she casually looked around at their surroundings. Her left hand resting casually on the hilt of the Katana she was wearing. Now that was interesting, a familiar with a weapon? I wonder if she knows how to use it. Her movements were certainly comfortable as if she did. Phaidra realized that she was staring rather rudely at the pair when Lucia, who had started off on something she apparently wished to discuss with Nathan, seemed to finally remember that she was even there and took a brief moment to introduce her and Sarvel; who along with Ruby had come back inside. “She was just assigned to the city earlier today,” Lucia was saying to Nathan, the blue one and Isen, his familiar. “Uh…” Phaidra felt a little uncomfortable as all eyes were cast in her direction, just as she realized that it was clear the two had business to discuss that did not include her. “It seems that I’m interrupting, but before I get out of the way, would the two of you care for some tea and cake? I made it only a little while ago so it’s still fresh.”

Well then... putting that bit aside... all entries are in so this round is officially open for voting! Excellent work everyone in getting your poems in within the deadline. :catgirl: Just a quick reminder though, don't forget that cohesive voting is required this time around! The instructions as to what that entails is included in each thread. For anyone who only votes in one thread, once it gets closer to the deadline I will be sure to pm the member in question to remind them that in order for their vote to count they will have to vote on the other entires as well. Anyway... start voting! :catgirl:

I was just reading your last post Beth and the part where Lucia sends the message back to let Nathan know she'll be free all evening... I have but one statement to say... to Nathan (Sir Allamorph) *takes a deep breath* You must have tea and cake or you die! *strangl'd* :D I swear, this is so unfair! Needing to have some substance to one's posts. *laughs wildly* Anyway, does this mean Sir Allamorph is next? Or can I sneak something in with Phaidra so long as I keep it to the same evening? I do have some ideas, more of stuff that goes a bit into what Phaidra is like, but at the same time, that stuff can go in a post that is later on in the story.

I eat breakfast. :D
Hehe! :catgirl: Ironically, that's exactly what I do. Nothing like a good breakfast to wake you up and get your day started. Now for the rest of the question... I don't drink coffee or soda with caffeine. If I need something to wake me up besides breakfast, I drink some herbal tea meant to help you wake up. It works really well and it's much healthier.

Fruits Basket is the newest series, at least new for me, that I am now watching. I've gotten through six episodes so far and it's definitely well worth taking the time to check out. I don't even know how to explain it since the idea of part of a family being cursed by the zodiac, so that some of it's members turn into
animals from the zodiac when either hugged by a member of the opposite sex or stressed,
is a big weird. And yet, the whole situation with the transformations and all is just downright hilarious at times. XD I really love Tohru Honda and her upbeat and cheerful personality, the way she always sees something good in life is refreshing and I love that. Her friends at school are fun too, Arisa Uotani and Saki Hanajima. I also get the biggest kick out of how poor Yuki and Kyo are always
fighting
Though at the same time it's rather ironic how deep down on some level they seem to
envy traits that the other one has.
And who could miss the perverted Shigure! XD Oh how his shenanigans just make me smile!
High school girls!
*laughs wildly* :catgirl:

You are correct. There are two more chapters. Well one after this one that is. ^_~
Aha! *pounce!* So this is posted in it's entirety and I don't have to wait for you to put up so many chapters up over at your world site for this! Whee! Uh... You didn't post that last chapter! So... Post it! That way it will be here once I finish reading chapters 11-33. o_O I had no idea this had that much of a back story to it. Fun! :catgirl:

For you down in Utah, maybe. I'm living in the middle of a frickin' desert up in Washington and we got snow last weekend. SNOW!!!! I ask you...
Ironically, we got wild weather today, hail, rain and SNOW! Though it's warm enough out that the snow pretty much melted on contact. XP Still, overall the winter weather is pretty much over. :catgirl: Also, you reminded me... getting out into the sun is a must! Once it's not freezing out... my day just doesn't feel right if I haven't been out side soaking up sun for part of the day. >_> I even managed to do that today in those rare moments when it wasn't storming.
