How often do your parents smoke in front of you?

I have a work-study job at my college, it's great. I sit there and do homework and get paid 8$/hour for it. Dream job: working at an entertainment magazine.
Ehh, that doesn't work for me. Plan 9 was so epically bad it was amazing. :p
I know, doesn't that make it the worst movie ever, in a twisted sort of way? I think I laughed for 5 minutes straight when we first saw the saucers "flying" across the sky.
A common cry of those against tattoos is the sagging to be sure. But it depends on both the person's ability to take care of themselves, the size of the tattoo, the colors, and the position it's in. I'm getting mine in smaller characters in black and red ink most likely. Both look good on my kind of skin tone, and the size and position of them on my shoulder blades mean that the average person won't even know they're there unless I go to pains to reveal it to them. And whether you know this or not, that's the norm for many people who might appear otherwise normal to you. And eventually everyone will get old and sag and have pouchy eyes and crows feet and age spots galore so tattoos will hardly matter regardless.
I mean I wasn't really trying to tell anyone they shouldn't, I just personally wouldn't want to have something permanent drawn onto my skin.

I don't really approve of body mod... well to be more specific, I don't like tattoos. I mean eventually you get old and you sag and it doesn't remain that cool. TBH when I see people with tons of tattoos I cringe.

My closet is really diverse, I pretty much buy things I find aesthetically pleasing, whether or not they're trendy or not. Generally I'm partial to preppy clothes, like polos and rugby stripes and argyle etc., so I love stores like J. Crew, but I also like digging through stores like Urban Outfitters (even though their clothes are ridiculously overpriced and not even of great quality) and American Apparel. Basically I like anything I find good-looking, but there are some types of clothes I stay away from: 'bohemian' style (i.e. not a fan of the clear nerd glasses, or the "I just rolled out of bed" look that actually cost $200), Juicy (I HATE this brand), glam, punk/emo. 1. First-year at Emory University. 2. Right now, my Psych 110 class just kicks ***. Actually the class is known to kick students' *****, but the teacher is worth it. The first day of class all the students were totally into what we were discussing and it was legitimately interesting, and the professor was great. Also my English 212 class is cool, since the professor is also sort of kickass. But I'm still undecided on major. 3. I followed professors' reputations while picking classes, not necessarily what subject I was most interested in. But I guess I've always been interested in psychology and how it interacts with biology, and English has always been a solid favorite. 4. Dream jobs: magazine editor, publishing editor, tv/film production 5. The fact that COMPLEX JUST WON SONGFEST '08! Holla

Emory Songfest '08! Basically a competition between the dorms where we rewrite the lyrics to popular songs and diss the other buildings....all while dancing! lol. Go Complexxx!

The premise of this movie was so retarded that I just refuse to watch it.

Just remember that clubs are the way to go. I already have a good idea of what organizations I'll be signing up for and trying out- and any sort of small, specialized club (i.e. anime club, etc.) would probably let students bond very easily. Don't give up!

Yargh. I'm moving into college tomorrow. I just tell myself that everyone there is in the same situation- no one knows each other (other than random FB friends or something), and it takes time to find friends. Just force yourself to be social, I guess. Go to the school-sponsored events, join clubs/organizations (I've heard from many college students that this is the best way to make friends, classes don't really cut it).
-
You'll get used to it, real fast. Branch out, make new friends! You being in GSA and any performing club is a great start. Don't stress, freshmen and sophomore year were probably my best years of high school.
Me too, not so much the music(SOS is an exception), but looks....................not a fan of Miley Cyrus, though.
Funny enough, I'm not joking when I say their music isn't bad. Even critics (EW, Time, Rolling Stones, Blender, to name a few), for the most part, recognize that it's a solid album. Not awesome or groundbreaking or anything, but it's a catchy album with ballads, rock-infused pop, and nice three-voice harmonies. *shrug* And even so, Lovebug is one of my favorite songs now, the Jonas Brothers legitimately branched out of their comfort zone and just did it. I realize I'm going back on what I said earlier, but Nick Jonas is just serious jailbait. He looks like he's at least 17. His being and "15 years old" just do not equate to me on any level. Man, those boys are just well put together. I used to hate them for wearing skinny jeans but now I just love it, their stylist rocks.

So how legit is that script? I've read the beginning of it, and I'm just wondering I guess.

2001: A Space Odyssey: HAL is the greatest magnificent bastard, ever.
Ok, but this movie was just a total mind ****. The mind ****iest movie ever made. Especially the last thirty minutes of swirling neon colors and purple hills.
28 Days: An instant favorite for me. I loved this movie, although some people call it slow, I really enjoy how the director takes the time to build up the characters' relationshisp. Great plot twist (
Of Britain being quarantined by the rest of the world
), not because it was ZOMG AMAZING! but actually subtle and realistic. 28 Weeks Later: Meh. Plan 9 from Outer Space: Lol. lol. lol. Dubbed the "worst movie ever made", and rightfully so. Also hilarious. The first time I saw the saucers "fly" in the sky I could not stop laughing. The ending where
the aliens explain everything is just awesomely bad and hilarious.
Other movies seen: Be Cool (2nd viewing) Movies I'll Watch: Arrested Development Iron Man Paradise Now The Big Lebowski The City of Lost Children Knocked Up Movie Count: 61
Roger Federer won a gold medal in doubles today, but he's long been eliminated in singles -- he won't even play for a bronze. I like Federer, but Rafael Nadal won me over during their Wimbledon match, so I'll be rooting for him to win the gold (especially since Fernando Gonzalez beat James Blake).
Phooey. Nadal grew on me during Wimbledon but I guess I just love Federer. A girl is a girl. :3

Beijing 2008 Olympics (Should China Play Host?)
eleanor replied to vegeta rocker's topic in General Discussion
I haven't really read the thread, but I'll add my two cents: Protesting the fact that China is hosting the Olympics or discussing why shouldn't have been able to isn't moot or pointless. I know of several people who are personally boycotting the 2008 Olympics, and I find it admirable. A lot of people like to use the excuse of "but the Olympics is all about unity!" to stop the discussion, but really the fact that the world is recognizing the coming of a nation that has *terrible* human rights and wants to forget about it for a while because of the Olympics is sort of sad. I'm not anti-Olympics or anything, I've been watching parts of it but I recognize what China has been doing lately. Put the semantics aside- clearly we can't stop the fact that China is hosting it, but that doesn't mean it's a good time to raise these issues. I've discussed it before and during the Olympics- I never thought China should have been able to play host. -
Well I agree with The Decemberists, but The Jonas Brothers? Seriously... You are weird if you think they're just as good... Loony
I guess the answers the question to this thread for me. ;)

Talk about what you've watched, what you've liked, disliked, everything! I haven't been watching it every day, but I've seen all of Phelps's races (it's like he was made for swimming, I love it). Yesterday night's 50m was RIDICULOUS though, I think Phelps only won because of sheer luck. .01 seconds, that's gotta hurt for 2nd place. And gymnastics, with China's female gymnasts who suspiciously don't look 16 at all. lol I'm also excited for tennis, because I love Federer. He may not be #1 anymore but I really hope he wins the gold this year.
