Hack Helba - No need to be ashamed of R.L. Stine. Though I'm not much of a horror/scary story type person myself, my friend is, and I know he's written a lot of books for adults that are pretty good (accordign to my friend). Takuya - What's wrong with fantasy? =P One of my favorite authors ever has to be Dianna Wynne Jones. She writes for the "Young Adult" age, but I still find her amazing. Her endings are also somewhat crappy, sometimes, but I don't know, I just still like her sooo much! If you love JK Rowling, definitely try Diana Wynne Jones. Try the Chrestomanci Chronicles; I still find those her best works, followed by Howl's Moving Castle & Castle in the Air (the former is already a Miyazaki movie! Check out the Anime Lounge for details... Wow that was very advertisement-like. @-@). I also, of course, love J.K. Rowling & the Harry Potter series. I just LOVE it!!! And before I got hooked on Fantasty, I was always a big historical fiction freak, especially when I was little, and I love the Little House on the Prairie series by Laura Ingalls Wilder But back to Fantasy! Phillip Pullman and the His Dark Materials series were amazing, so he's definitely one of my favorite authors, too! ^^ I'm currently reading volume one (of four) of a series called "Otherland" (the books are massive @_@) by a man called Tad Williams. It was recommended to me by someone from another message board, and so far it's pretty good. I don't know if he's a favorite author yet, but I'm enjoying this book a lot! ^_^ The best way to describe it: "The ultimate virtual-reality saga, borrowing motifs from cyberpuk, mythology and world history." Heh.

So Firefox has 10.28% of a market hold. It still makes it a minority to the amount of people who use IE. I hope you were just stating statistic for the sake of stating statistics because it doesn't help your point whatsoever. lol. I don't think clueless is the right word for everybody, either (okay, in the following paragraph, don't include the MSBlaster thingy, which, according to my knowledge, attacks your system when you turn it on for the first time, or something like that). The thing is, computers are relatively new, and not everyone knows how to use them. And when I say relatively new, think about it. The first computers, (Colossus & ENIAC) were built in 1943 & 1945. We have WWII vets still living today. Not everybody has grown up with these things - so it's not surprising that not everyone knows how to use them; much less protect themselves from viruses & spyware. As there becomes more and more of a push toward a more computer-integrated society, it does force older people to start using the internet more. But, because they're older (and even people in their 50's and 60's), they have a harder time learning how to use computers and such, much less running a slew of programs like anti-virus & spyware, as well as setting up a firewall. And with those 50 - 60 year olds who are still working (like my mom; she's in her early early 50's), she doesn't have time to learn all that stuff and remember it. I mean, for me, personally, I've learned to use my computer by trial and error. I didn't even know what spyware was until I was googling something, and a website came up with the info I wanted. But at the top, it had a code programmed in it, and it told me all the spyware I had in my computer. It took me that long to figure out there was something called spyware, because before then, I'd never even heard of it. Why should I be afraid of the boogey man & lock my door at night if I've never heard of him? It's the same idea. The generation of people grown up with computers constantly in their lives - the way the telephone (a piece of "technology" if you will) was always there for those WWII vets, more people will know how to use their machines, and schools - even primary schools will have more of a chance to offer more and more computer 101classes and such. I mean, just recently, my school district for grades K-8 set up the curriculumn so that the teachers could teach their students how to properly evalutate websites for content & use databases of originally print material as more reliable sources. When I went through the system just a few years ago, I had none of that. So it will take some time before it's second nature for everyone to always run anti-virus, spyware detecting programs & firewalls, but they'll get there, eventually.

I didn't get to click on the other ones, but the archive link for Digimon doesn't work - it gives you the homepage for the archive, but brings you to the current Digimon page when you clicko n a link. Due to the fact that I save weird things, I was able to bring up this thread (I don't suggest you post in it or you'll get in trouble). And it provides a link to this website: http://www.archive.org where you can search for old theOtaku stuff, including information from the different anime sections, and it actually gives it to you. I wish we could have the information like we used to, but oh well. *sigh* At least you can still view it. =)

Okay, how come I didn't notice the replies until now? I'm retarded. Retribution: I didn't know that there were three Popes at once during the Reformation. Shows you what I know about my own religion. Now there's something they never taught in CCD. >__> But it's no big surprise to me that the Renaissance - political, scientific, and religious re-awakening - occured during such a corrupt time in the church's history (although some people would argue the church has always been corrupt...). Actually, the theme for next year's Academic Decathalon competition is the Renaissance, so I should be an absolute expert on it by next March! =D (I know, off topic - sorry!)

Actually, that's why our entire school district runs on emacs (the white ones). We have the white laptops too, but they don't work because the kids abuse them and they don't know what they're doing, either. But uh, yeah, they used emacs so they don't get viruses. =D God, I don't think I've ever really gotten a virus. My computer in general, is just a piece of crap. I've gotten tons of spyware, and I can't even get rid of it all. It drive me crazy! Argh! x_x You all say the people who created viruses need to die. Well, whoever invented harmful spyware should be tortured and killed. >:/

*shrugs* It just depends if cats like you or not. I guess they don't like you, Tigervx. XD (sorry, couldn't help myself.) My first pet was a cat, and I love them. I really do. They're so silent, and almost wise, in a way. And I always felt like, whenever I wanted to cry, I could cuddle up with my cat and cry. She'd jump up on my lap to be pet and to be there, as if to say it was okay. I never get that with my dog. I love my dog very much because he shows a lot more outward expression than my cat (who is ran out of her 9 lives on earth and is enjoying her time somewhere else), and I love taking him for a walk. He's very friendly, and so cute, too! I am allergic to both cats and dogs. I was allergic to my old cat, but not my dog, because he's a Shih Tzu, which as hair. And oddly enough, the only cats I'm not allergic to are my friend's cats. Everyone else's cats get my allergies going.... O_o; I guess cats and dogs both have their good and bad points. I just happen to like cats slightly more because that was my first pet. =)

I have to say, when I read your story, it's more as if you wrote it so it could be adopted into an anime/cartoon/TV series (with real people) format, with all the strange things going on. I keep equating "Wickersleeves" with The Night Before Christmas meets FLCL - neither of which I have seen, which makes my logic obscene! XD But it's a really good story. I like it a lot because the absurdity of how some of the characters - like the Accord & Radley (because I would never kidnap someone) remind me of how strange I can be, at times. ^^;;; The Troles (nice take on the word) remind me of the story of Hanzel and Gretel - being trapped by the witch for being lured into eating her candy house. Lastly, Radley reminds me of 1) Ron from Harry Potter because they share the same first letter in their first names, and Ron's last name is Weasly. His name is actually derived from a story of someone called "Running Weasel." And 2) A dog with the same name that belongs to two girls that I babysit. The fact that their Radley is a dog makes your Radley more plausible to be a weasel, for me. Of course, they named their dog after Boo Radley from To Kill a Mockingbird, but Radlemonious reminds me nothing of Boo Radley... I think your writing is getting progressively better along with the volumes of this story - I can picture things much clearer and and less confused than I was in volume 1 - which is a good thing. And now, well, I've said enough. I'm going to Las Vegas tomorrow so it'll be a while before I see the next volume, but keep writing! I await something good when I get back. ^_^ -Rox from a box

I used to choose one of the middle stalls because I had this thing against the tile (urgh - the tile in the shower of my own bathroom at home is gross - it's like... from 1930 and the grout make me want to crawl sometimes.). But now, I go for the first stall, for some reason. O_o; I don't understand why, but in my school, there's always icky-wet paper towels in the friggin' sink. Not to mention there's almost never any soap. I know that some people don't wash their hands, but I think I'm obsessive complusive, and I like to wash mine as much as I can, so I don't like it when there's no soap. >___< In middle school, there used to be a lot of graffitti on the bathroom stalls, but no one does it in high school. It's all good. I'm also perfectly fine with hovering, but some people find all the bathrooms so gross that they either hold it, or they'll walk all the way around the school to use the nurse's bathroom, which is the cleanest in the school. Heh. No gross bathroom stories from me! I'm very thankful for that. ^^;

You know, some of the kidns at my school, who aren't even Roman Catholic, mind you, are like "He's a going to be a horrible pope!!!!" Geeze. Just wait and see for goodness sakes. I don't agree with priesthood only for men, the church's views on homosexuality or abortion, etc., but it's the view of the church in general; not only the Pope. Those things about the church hasn't stopped me from being a Roman Catholic.
He's also supposedly infallible when it comes to the teaching of faith and morals because the Holy Spirit protects him from error. Pfft.
Just to clarify - that's for all Popes, not just Benedict - he's not concieted or anything. The Pope is technically suppose to derive his decisions on prayer, the bible, and the Holy Spirit. The idea in general is very laughable to me, personally, but I just wanted to clarify that it's not only Benedict that thinks that. And actually, I did not think of eggs benedict, because when I first heard his name, the people on TV said "benedictine" or something more Latin sounding. I also knew the suffix on his name immediately because my old AIM handle used to have those Roman numerals. >_> And whatever people are saying about him becoming a Nazi is utter crap. I'm not even going to explain why - refer to Retribution's post for it, as he summed it up better than I could.

Question: what is Risk and how do you play it? People are always saying how great that game is, but I have no idea what it's about.

I agree with Baron. It's a great idea, but rather implausable for the small-ness of the community. If you want to meet up with anyone, arrange it privately. I know that tons of OBers are going to Anime Expo, if you were interested. =)

I had to do some writing assignment for school. We're reading "The Catcher In the Rye" right now, and because of the way Salinger writes, she wanted us to do some weird assignment writing like him. We could either write a story about Holden told as Holden, or write a story about ourselves and use Salinger's language (made up story or real). Well, I didn't follow directions and I made up my own people and used Saligner's language. Of course, for all of you this is a made up story about me, but no one knows that my name is Roxanne, IRL. ^_~ We're only up to reading chapter four, or so, and with Stradlater and Ackley fresh in my mind, I meet up with Gavin (Dragon Warrior) in this story. I chose him specifically so I could use "Sexy Bastard" in my story. But I loves you Gavin!!! *huggles lots* And if you read this, I'm getting around to reading Wickersleeves - I've been real busy lately. Sorry! *__* (But tomorrow is Friday - I'll be able to read it then! ^_^) Anyway, read, critique, throw my own eggs at me, or whatever you may. Here's the goddamn writing assignment: Let me tell you about the time I went into the grocery store for a carton of eggs. A goddamn carton of eggs, for Chrissake! I had to make a cake, and all. It was for some fundraiser-type crap at school that they make you do so that they can raise money for all the students in your class. That way when important stuff, you know, like prom comes around and all, you don?t have to pay as much. It never made sense to me, because the kids buying the cake and crap were in your grade and all. It was like you were paying for your own ticket. But anyway, I had just picked up the cake mix and all, but when I got home, I realized I forgot the eggs. So I had to go back to the crappy grocery store to buy the eggs. All I wanted were the goddamn eggs, but as I turned down the refrigerated aisle I ran into that damn Gavin kid. He was one of those kids who were nice to you and all, but they always thought they were so cool and all, too. All the stupid girls at school with no brains always came up to talk to him at school and all, giggling like buffoons. Even worse, Gavin not only thinks he?s cool, but he knows he?s cool and all that crap, and he enjoys the attention. Sexy bastard. Like I said, he?s nice and all, but really annoying, too. I pretended not to see him. You know, sometimes you can avoid people you don?t want to see and all, by just pretending they weren?t there. But he was right in front of me and all, especially right next to the eggs and crap, so I couldn?t pretend to not see him. ?Hey Roxanne. What are you doing here?? he said with a damn carton of milk in one of his hands. I felt like telling him ?Well gee, I?m at the grocery store right next to the damn eggs. Why the hell do you think I?m here?? But I couldn?t just say that and all. ?Eggs,? was the single word I said. Pretty awful of me. Usually I can say lots of magnificent things and all, and I?m real good at giving speeches too, but whenever I get in an awkward situation, I clam up. It?s terrible. ?Why do you need eggs?? Gavin asked, shifting the crumby carton of milk to his other hand. I felt like telling him it was none of his business, but that wouldn?t have been very nice, either. ?I?m making a cake.? But I knew he was going to ask what the cake was for and all, so I added, ?It?s for a school fund-raiser.? Gavin ruffled his hair before replying. It made him look cool and all, and he knew it - that?s why he did it. Sexy bastard. ?I?ll be sure to buy some of your cake to support your class. I can afford to eat a whole cake if I wanted to. After all, I am on the track team - I can burn it off easily.? It was things like that that really bugged me. Not only did that crappy Gavin kid do things to say that he was cool, but he said things to rub it in your face, too. Bastard. ?Well, thanks, Gavin.? I was going to say more, and all, but you know, because I clam up sometimes, there was a pause. That?s when he said ?No problem. Glad to help.? Conceited stuff like that made me want to scream, but I smiled anyway. I waved to him and all, and then I paid for the crumby eggs that caused me so much trouble and left the crappy grocery store. All I wanted was a carton of goddamn eggs and I had to run into that damn Gavin kid.

Try http://www.20000-names.com/female_japanese_names.htm for some. I also have a list, but I'm pretty sure most of it is covered in that link. Why do you need to name your pet something Japanese? There might be other names that suit your pet just as well, you know. But it's your pet. ^^;

You could be right. I watched last night (today's?) episode of FMA, which has a brief appearance of that girl, and she sounds just like Yomiko. And she has glasses that look like her, and, of course, she loved to read. XD Dagger: With samurai Champloo airing next month, on AS, I'll get to watch it. Yay! ^_^

Gasoline; an interesting idea, please read.

*nod* Bleh. Corruption, corruption, corruption. Gosh, these people in power have no morals or ethics. And when you get a decent person, everyone walked all over them. >_>; Somehow, that information on GM didn't surprise me though. Heh. -
Gah. How did you watch the first episode? Am I missing something/being stupid? >_>; If you've seen it, how is that elongated-ness thing? I've seen some other screencaps from an xxxholic site: http://www.kimihiro.net/images/index.php?spgmGal=tsubasa_chronicle_anime/screencaps and it's driving me crazy. I mean, just look at how TALL Yuko is. I want to scream at how tall Maru and Moro are. They pratically mutilated Watanuki's legs. But this is about Tsubasa - not xxxholic. Sakura looks like she's drawn normally, and Syaoraon looks a little bit tall, but not bad. It's also interesting that I've never even read Tsubasa (I want to though - badly). Mergh. That's sad. (The guy with the blond hair looks really cute. ;_; )

Dragonboym2: Blegh G-Gundam could have been better, but it turned out really cheezy, almost Yu-Gi-Oh ish (I haven't given hope on it because someone told me the actual storyline un-dubbed is better. But that's also a biased opinion from that person). EVA Unit 100: I concur with you on Wolf's Rain. I saw that it was made by the creators of Cowboy Bebop, and I thought I was going to be good, and I ended up saying "what the hell went wrong?" It was just... O_o;;; I mean, I can even argue most of the episodes were alright, but that ending was just so retarded. Kawaii Seth: I resisted watching it at first, and a while ago, I was like "What? It's still on CN?" and then I did a little bit of digging and realized how friggin' long the thing is. It's not particularly exciting, either (I don't really know what the plot line is or what's going on - it's rather disorienting when you watch on and off). It's also really sad that CN is in season 4 out of SEVEN. v_v Or that there are seven seasons. >< Whatever the heck that Read or Die thing that was aired on CN around Halloween/Christmas (bah, I forget when it was) was disappointing. Not that I had heard rave reviews about it or anything, but it just wasn't good, to me. I bet if I saw it subbed, it would be decent, maybe even good. I started zoning out after the first half hour because the dubbed voice of the main character was so whiny. There's a big difference between high pitched (Jpns version), and WHINY (dubbed). I remember wanting to rip my hair out. Incidentally, I swear to god that the American VA of that girl was the one with the photographic memory in that episode of FullMetal Alchemist.

Wai! I just thought of that - Candy land!!! I loved it soooo much when I was little. But my mom, who cleans out EVERYTHING and ALL THE TIME, threw it away a couple years ago!! BOOO. >=( I want it so bad. I love Candyland. v_v

Mmm. Thanks for all the input, you guys. I appreciate the "silent" votes, as well, but I am especially thankful for those of you who posted your opinions on my cosplay options. I'm very very grateful. Anyway, I went out today to buy fabric and everything. I went with Yuko from xxxholic. Everything came to $20.35 because of a sale - thrilled my socks off. ^^ And the woman (young Asian, probably about college-age) who was cutting yardage of my fabric just looked at me and said "what costume are you making?" So I showed her the picture that I had printed out. She said, "holic. That's gonna be great" (referring to the costume). It's not even made and I'm already getting compliments? XD You guys were right! ^^ We talked about anime cons and stuff, and that was cool. So, yeah. Thanks again you guys! I'll be sure to send you some pictures if I ever finish it. ;_; (edit)P.S.: r2vq, I'm not tall, but I'm incredibly skinny, so hopefully that will make me appear taller. ^^;

I had Clue: Master Detective. I don't know where it went, though. I think my mom threw it out. What a jerk. I loved playing life, but not so much monopoly, because it took too long to monopolize over others. I hate scrabble simply because I'm not good at it. Everyone I know ALWAYS beats me, and then I just want to scream. *screams* ARGH!!! *chucks scrabble out the window* I've played "guess who" with other people's game boards (I've never owned one). I'm good at elimination, so.... yeah. ^^; Outburst is a lot of fun - I've even played it over the phone. It's a great party game. So is scategories. They're sooooo much fun, and I laugh a lot, every time I play them. I'd have to say they're my favorites. =)
My schools have always said the same thing. According to my highschool if you had more than 10 unexcused absenses you weren't allowed to graduate. I had 47 and I graduated with no real problems. Bunch of bluffers. I managed to rarely go to school and mantain a 3.5 gpa which is pretty impressive if I do say so myself. Take that public education system!!!!!!!!!!
I'd say you're quite lucky, then, to have a school that doesn't care. Our school used to not care, either, but we got a new principal, who, sadly, enforces the rules. *sigh* Lucky lucky you. v_v
-
Erm. What if there's a fire and the door locks? o_o Sounds rather hazardous.
I'm not even going to bother to explain. Go read the whole paragraph AGAIN. future girl mentioned attendance, which reminds me of something else at my school which makes it tougher to cut classes. If you have more than TEN unexcused absences from school (per year), they have this big thing where they call in your parents and stuff, and you either get something like academic probation, or you loose all credits for your classes (I've never had it happen to me). If you have more than 10 unexcused absences for a class, you get academic probation or something like that. The school used to not care that people were using more than 10 unexcused absences, but we got a new principal that enforces all of the rules, so only ten absences it is! ^^;;

Urgh. Unfortunately, Bloodseeker's suggestions doesn't work in my school anymore because we have cameras EVERYWHERE in our school. They're brand new this year, and the work. And while nobody hears too much about getting caught on one, I do know they've caught kids walking out of school, one rolling up a joint and smoking it, and some kids making out in school (and all of them got in trouble. Heh). The only good thing about the new stuff they did is that they installed a flash sensor so when you try and light up a cigarette in the bathroom, it locks the door on you. You can get out if you pull this thing right next to the door (it looks like a blue fire lever that you press to set off the school alarm), but it sets of a lot of noise, so everyone knows it was YOU who was trying to smoke. I'd argue that it's a waste of money for the cameras, but considering they spent thousands of my mom's tax dollars for plasma TV screens THAT WE DON'T FRIGGIN NEED, the cameras are the least of my problems. So er, yeah. It's hard to cut individual classes and stuff. Cameras everywhere, and our teachers have some sixth sense; they know when you're cutting. o.o;;;;

I used to d/l music. I don't anymore because programs like grokster totally screwed over my computer with spyware, and I'm more afraid of my mom catching me downloading music, really. >_> (It's a big no-no to her). ...I still have most of the mp3 files from the days that I would download songs. I agree that it's morally wrong, because it's stealing someone's intellectual property. So is piracy moral? No. But justifiable? Definitely, to an extent. Most of you have said "why waste money on an album when I can preview it before hand?" and I concur. I wish I could have downloaded some of the tracks from Muse's "Absolution" because the $17.00 I shelled out wasn't worth it for the couple tracks I like. On the other hand, I did download "clocks" and "The scientist" by coldplay, and ended up buying the entire CD in Borders, because I loved those songs. Another thing: most of us are big anime/Japan fans. There are some things that are just downright tough to find for an anime fan. I'm not really sure what DVD encoding for regions is all about, but if it applies, I guess it would make watching an import difficult? Also, I have tons of downloaded J-pop songs (before I stopped d/ling) because I didn't know where I could buy them, and my mom will never ever let me use her credit card online. When I get my own credit card, I've made a solemn promise to myself to buy the songs/ CDs that I downloaded, because that's only right. Not trying to take over the topic, but a question I just thought about: I have a couple (like, 3) Anime music videos (where you take images from an anime, put them to music, and make a video) made by anime fans who distribute it on their personal site for free. Where do you stand on that, since the whole kit-kaboodle was put together for free, and given for free, but the images and the music are "technically" stolen (intellectual property rights)?

Never skipped school without telling my mom (I've feigned sickness a couple times to "get an extention" on a school project). But I did go over a friend's house, without telling my mom where I was. Well, I didn't leave a note at home. I called her work office to tell her where I was, and after she found me, she told me she didn't go to her office all day - she was at some seminar, or something. -___-; That's how she found where I was - her secretary decided to check the answering machine in the office, and they heard where I had went. When she came to get me, my mom was like, "OMG I was so panic-stricken. I was just about to call the police!!!" The worst part is, I tried to tell myself it wasn't my fault, because I HAD left that message on the machine, but my mom still made me feel guilty. I hate it when she does that.
