1. Arg. I haven't had anytime to reply to this thread at all until now, and I haven't looked at any posts other than shy's first one, so forgive me for the lastness in this, and the fact that i might have repeated things people have said. Shy, your "friend" is not a friend, because, if he was, he'd know that your personal life is your personal life. I won't see you any differently, and neitehr should anyone else. You're still Shy who mods the anime section. You're still the same Josh/Joshy/Joshii/Yoshi/Yoshii that you always were, and always will be. As for the truth, there are certain times to tell the truth and tell a lie. I think smal white lies are okay. I mean, if you visit a sick friend two days in a row, and the second day, they ask you if they look any better, and they really don't, you aren't going to say "no. you look horrible." Most people would just smile and say, "yeah. you're looking better." I think that kind of a lie is alright.
2. I think I've seen four different spellings of Quatre's last name. O_o I was just wondering, what is his actual last name in Gundam Wing?
3.
Originally posted by BabyGirl And I was voicing my opinion. I didn't mean to sound like I was lashing out at your opinion :whoops:
Oh. I get it. Sorry about my response, too. ^_^;; anyways, I think we should get back on track. Just want to apologize.
4.
Originally posted by BabyGirl Foredaddy is not an ***. He's actually a veteran to these boards, and an extremely funny one at that ;) Roxie- I don't think super models are freaks of nature at all. Just because they were born with super beautiful features doesn't mean that we should discriminate against them and call them weird names :p
Sorry to say, but I find no humor in what Foredady posted at all. And I'm not discrimiating against them, I'm voicing an opinion about them. Sorry if it's not what you wanted to hear.
5. I read over what I said. I apologize for my outburst, Charles. I didn't mean it like that. I get almost distraught, though, when I hear about someone like this. I agree you were very compassionate. :) Once again, I apologize.
6.
Originally posted by Crazy White Boy Charles is a cool name. All the cool people have it. It's better than a boring male name like "Rob." Anyway, yeah, sorry for the bad ending. But, that guy's still on the street. Hopefully, he'll dig himself out of the situation he's in someday so I can do a happy update or something.
You do know, if you wanted to have a happy ending, you could always help him. Can't you tke him back to the homeless shelter, or help him get a job or something, even if it's just at the local Dunkin' Donuts. I suppose not, seeing as you're very busy. No time for anything compassonate.
7. DBZChickaGhan, don't tell yourself you aren't skinny enough, not smart enough, etc. You're absolutely wonderful the way you are, and I mean it. Everyone is different, because it's our differences that make us special. :) P.S.: Super models are freaks of nature, anyways.
8. Wow Kevin. I really like it. I see nothing wrong with it. Of course, if you really wanted some crisicism it, you'd have to take it to a beta reader, which I'm not. I hope the rest of it is just as good,if not, better, than this part! :)
9. I thought about this, and whether it was intended to be this way or not, it is very much appropriate for Thanksgiving (American Holiday tomorrow), because we're thanking people. Well, anyway, I'd like to thank my IRL friend, who was on OB for a while over the summer, Luminaire for always being there. Love ya like a sis! Rick Hunter (Kevin) - You're such a wonderful guy. Thanks for the Mod Job (It WAS fun), and thanks for not thinking I'm a dork. Yay! Crazy White Boy (Charles) - Hey, I haven't talked to you in a while, but you're always cool, and thanks for putting up with a lot of my insanity. Shy Guy (Josh) - Whether you realize it or not, thank you for all the laughs, man. AIM staff meetings were the best. *giggles*
10. See James' post for how it all got started. If you want a HISTORY of OB, ask an old member, like Sephiroth or TransticNerve, or Nerdsy. Nerdsy has documented the entire history of OB.
11. Odd title. Couldn't think of anything better. Anyways, I was talking to a couple members over AIM about this, and I was wondering do you ever think, if you hadn't found OtakuBoards, that your life would be different? Would you not have met some people, made some friends? If you've made some friends from here, do you think you could live with out them, or to you think you've become close to them, and that coming here was a good thing? Or, if you don't think it would have mattered, why not? Are you not here to make friends, or maybe you just see this as an internet forum, no need to get attached. And for you Moderators and SuperModerators, as an added, do you just see OtakuBoards as a job, and you're just here to do your job, or have you formed some friendships here, as well? Personally, for me, I don't think coming here was a mistake. I've gotten to know some great people, and I know I couldn't live, now with out some of them. Enough about me, what about you guys? P.S.: If you want to name some friends you've made here, go right ahead, but please do stick to the topic. Friends is not the primary topic of this thread.
12. I agree wholeheartedly. I think we need one more Digimod, because as people ave said, D_M can't possibly read all those threads(she does have a life), and Shy is busy reading through EVERYTHING in the Anime section. Admittedly, I haven't been posting as much in the Digimon section as I used to, but it doesn't mean I don't read the threads, and I know what you guys are talking about.
13. True, Mystic's. It would have been a lot easier, but if he had done that, then people would be screaming at James, "Why didn't you allow some debate for that idea?" Ultimately, youare correct, though. We all know his decision for this. I know that the forum must go. We all know. Logic proves so. And yes, I am aware that I have posted saying NOT to let the forum go. My logical mind tells me to let it go. I rarely visit it, and heck, I didn't even post an introduction. However, there's just something in the very back of my mind that's tugging at my brain, and it won't let the forum go. It just won't. I think the reasoning is something that has to do with psychology, but I haven't a clue what that reasoning is. I will be sticking to my illogical opinion until the forum goes down. :)
14.
Originally posted by James My point is, I don't think anything we do will change this. If we Moderate the forum, staff will only be accused of not letting people have their fun...it won't change.
Well, I'm sure it would be like that in the beginning, but in time, the members would change and stop complaining. I remember when Shyguy became themod for Digimon. Many people sort of got upset because he was ACTUALLY enforcing the rules, but in time things died down, and most is well over there. The only problem would be finding someone crazy enough to take that blaming and to Mod NL. ;)
I really don't think people need to post a thread to introduce themselves. I don't see why people can't introduce themselves within their first actual post on the boards. If My Otaku exists, newbies can read up on that info well before they post anyway -- and hopefully, they'll feel more comfortable to just jump right in and start posting.
The problem is, some of the time(I'm not saying all of it, but sometimes), when people meantion just once, at the very bottom of theit post, that they're new, half he topic turns into an intro thread. P.S.: If you couldnt tell, I'm against removing the Newbie Lounge. ;)
15. Oh. :( Blanko, is there any way you can get to the library or something to make it? And I?d really like to know if there?s a specific time for this thing, and if so, please include the time zone. Congratulations to the bride and groom, and Happy Birthday to Shauny. And lastly, I just wanted y?all to know, I?m coming. :D
16. OOOOOO! OOOOO! Change it to Yoshii, Shy! ^_^ *shy slams fist on coffee table, screams dammit, then kills Roxie* NOOOOOOOO! ACK! I WAS KIDDING!!!!!! KIDDING! Heh. Please don't kill me. ^_^ Well, we could name you Joshness. Isn't that what Tori calls you? Joshness? Or we could name you Josh, Joshy, Joshii, or Yoshi, which only has one "i" in it. No? AHH!!! *runs from Shy* P.S.: If anyone can't tell I changed my name. MUCH better.
17. I took it and I got Anna as well. YAY! ^_^ -_- second time I got wrist cutter. :) Third time I got AnimeLover aka Mitch. I'm sorta like Mitch and Anna. I don't really think I'm like wrist cutter. BTW, all you newbies who got Anna, You're lucky cuz she's really cool. :)
18. OOO. I really like the final version of this. I don't even see any differences than the copy I got, but whatever, I like it all the same "Mr. Oh my God, they liked my narrative". Well, I mean what's not to like, coming from such a great writer? (no, I'm not sucking up, I think you're a really good writer. A lot better than am, seeing as how you actually FINISH the things you start.) I'm starting to ramble so I think I'll just shut up now...
19. I strongly agree. First of all, banning the swastikamans forgetting WWII and the Nazi. Last year, in my school we spent a whole marking period on the Holocaust. The state law says you must learn abot te Holocaust before you enter High School. Why? So we will never forget what happened. So we will not repeat the same mistakes. And secondly, Hitler was very into the west and Native Americans and such. One of, I believe that Navajo's(could be another tribe, though) had the swastika as a symbol in their culture. It orginally meant peace. What about that tribe today? If we were to banthe symbol, they couldn't use it, which isn't fait because it's a part of their cultue. bah stupid curfew. I'll edit this later
20. Thanks, Hypershadow. I have yet to visit the site, but thanks. :)
21. No offense, but a friend of mine has known Pojo to be unreliable with some Digimon information, and I don't think some of that stuff is going to happen. I don't believe JWildfire for a second. It's apparent that he doesn't have a Japanese English Dictionary, or an online translator, because Yami means (and I quote from my Japanese English translator): "darkness; the dark; black-marketeering; dark; shady; illegal;" , no where the do I see evil. ;) Because of that, I do not find the rest of his writing credible. I did not bother to read the rest of the page because I'm lazy and because of the first uncredible writing, the rest is bound to be not credible, so why waste my time? In essence, I believe Pojo is lying. If it turns out Pojo is telling the truth, then I shall apologize, but for now, the coin shall remain tossed in the air.
22. I believe emotions are not a sign of weakness at all. Emotions are a part of humans and it is inevitable not to have emotions. If we did not have emotions, how could we ever laugh and be happy, as well as cry? How would we ever have compassion, or doubt? The world would be a messed up place with out emotions. It is MY BELIEF that emotions should not be kept bottled up, because there will be that ONE day where someone who's bottled up their emotions they will come gushing out. Some traumatics things may result in that. I hate to start talking about books, but has anyone read "The Outsiders" By S.E. Hinton? It's not a bad book, and there's this one tough character, Dally, and he really cares about this one kid, Johnny, who's very skittish, because he's gotten in lots of fights. If my memory servers correct, his parents also beat him. Johnny is the only person Dally ever really cares about, though he denies it and will beat up anyone who tells him that he cares about Johnny. One night there's this really big fight between the "Outsiders" and the "socs" (soh-sheh-s, not socks), the populars. Johnny gets badly hurt, and dies. Dally, the tough guy, Dalluy who's never cried, Dally, overcome with emotion, goes out and kills himself. So, you see? Emotions should not be bottled up like that, unelss you want someone dead.
23. Do you guys know any sites where I can find out where tournaments are going to be held?
24. Eh. Happens to me all the time. Pisses me off, too. People either call Yu-Gi-Oh Pokemon, or Magic the Gathering. I swear, every card Game and Anime is Pokemon to those ignorant people.
25. Yay! ^_^ I'm glad your days are going better, and you've gotten a promotion. :) P.S. Who was the one with the bright idea to call it "Lizard Lounge?" Well, I suppose it couldn't be worse than "Chit Chat Bubble Cat"...
