Oh my gosh, I just busted out laughing when I read that. It sounds like an advertisement for a talkshow, wanting you to call in.

I practically forced one of my friends into watching anime, and she likes it a bit. :P None of my other friends like it, though. In fact, they don't even know what it is. =_=

I know this girl named Kala I just met, and she told me she liked anime, but that's just two people. [one of which was forced]

I actually don't want everyone to suddenly start liking anime, it's actually something I'm afraid of. :3

My friends know and they think I'm stupid, but I'm like whatever. I'll like what I like! They can make fun of me but words can't bring me down! Hey, I wear my trigun shirt to school on free dress days. My friends think I'm weird because of it. It's really hard to find people to talk to about anime. That's why I love this site! I ask people at school about anime and everyone is like, "What's anime?" And I just say to forget it. I feel like a dork sometimes but everyone loves my drawings. (I'm a master anime drawer) Gosh, I love you people!

Hey don't laugh at Hack, that's kinda rude...Don't worry bout what your friends think of you watching DBZ, just be all like "so, and you haven't watched anything worse?" Who cares, everyone's entitled to their own opinion..if you like anime and they don't who gives a flying monkey? I like DBZ too man, so don't feel bad.....Most of my friends know what anime is, a few of them are indifferent, think it's pointless, and today at school a friend called it porno..hahahahaha, I laughed, cuz there are suggesting phrases and images but that's anime...That's why I love anime instead of american cartoons, they're just soooo boring

I have one good friend who likes anime. All he watches though is stuff on TV, like Yu Yu Hakusho and DBZ. Still fun to talk to about it though. And a few kids at my school like it, but that's about all.

I kinda hide my anime obsession from my freinds cuz i hang with what many would call the "Rap Crowd". So, they don't really know. But they have confessed in liking Kenshin and Big O. But they know nothing of Trigun or Cowboy Bebop, which i'm sure they would love. Especially Bebop.

Like the other day when I was wearing my ONE AND ONLY dragonball shirt my friend Sammy was like "your wearing DragonBall Z?!?! thats a cartoon" and I made me feel stupid sorta...
DBZ...a cartoon?!? Do me a favor and smack your friend the next time you see him.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. If your friends do not know about anime then I pitty them. They are missing out on shows that put American TV to shame (most of, anyway). My tip, just ignore them if they have a problem with it. If they truely are your friends they will not care.

My friends know what it is, but they don't get it. Cartoons are for kids, I guess. They don't recgonize the thought and character depth present in these shows that are missing in so much of American culture, not just the TV.

Don't worry if they make fun of you, there are a lot of other people who do relate to you.

I really don't care if anyone likes anime anymore. I'll have people come over to my house, see my anime next to the TV and make a comment like

"Dude, do you really like this stuff?"

And I usually reply sarcastically saying that I really don't like it, I am just oddly compelled to buy dozens and dozens of anime DVD's. Then I usually go into my spiel about how anime is just like any other movie genre, some are better than others...some are action, some are comedy...blah, blah, blah.

One thing is certian, I have never met anybody that didn't like Cowboy Bebop once I forced them to watch an episode...

I have never really told my friends that I even know what anime is, much less that I like it. Well, except for one friend (Fluffy), and I just told him recently. But truly, it's very different for me to actually be able to talk to someone about anime (Fluffy liked it in the first place). I have one other friend (Howl) who likes some of it (like Inuyasha and Vampire Princess Miyu), but she doesn't know that I like anime.
The conversations I have with Fluffy and Howl are very different, even when the conversations are not anime based. Perhaps this is because I chose to confide my secret in one of them, but not the other. Perhaps I was already closer to this friend in the first place. But I think that I'm only ready to tell someone who likes anime in the first place, for fear of some of the things that happened to the people above. So if Howl ever gets past her Toonami phase (yes, I love Toonami, I simply think that that's not all there is to anime), then maybe I'll confide in her too. I almost feel like I'm in a club, and am only willing to admit that I'm in it to someone who already knows.
People ridicule anime otakus because they think they can. The tease them the same reason anyone teases people- for control over them. Just don't let it get to you. Or, if you can't take the constant teasing, don't tell anyone. As they say, what they don't know won't hurt them ^_^

At school we have groups the anime nerds and the popular kids. I'm one of the popular kids but I sneak over to the anime nerds every once in a while and talk DBZ with them. It is really hard not talking to popular kids about anime because its such a big part of my life.

My best friend likes anime, but my other friends either think it's dumb or don't know what it is. My other really good friend got banned from watching anime(lol... that sounds funny)because it was to "violent" and her parents saw the 18 and over thing on Adult Swim. That was when we were 12... she has been banned from it for 2 years. And I was all,"THAT'S A BUNCH OF BS!!! IT ISN"T THAT BAD!" Lol. Now she trys to avoid conversations on anime... now I think she thinks it's stupid. She acts like I'm a weirdo when I talk 'bout anime.
My best friend is a big anime freak like me, but I can only see her once a year. That's in the summer, because she lives in Missouri and I live in Iowa. But in the summer I go see my dad in a different city and she comes to that city to visit her grandma. At least I can see her in the summer! ^_^
But one of my friends watches some anime, he likes Yu Yu Hakusho, DBZ, Inuyasha and stuff like that. But my other two friends have no idea what anime is.

Anime isn't really well known here. I mean, we do have DBZ, Pokemon, Beyblade and **** like that, and we even had Gundam Wing for a while, but that's about it. So most people here don't know what you're talking about when you mention anime, although the word manga may ring a bell... My friends know what manga is, (although they refer to animes as 'manga' too :| ), and thanks to me, 2 of them are kind of interested in it, others just like the style and the rest of em thinks it's childish and stuff...
But considering most people don't know anything about anime/manga here, they're doing pretty well :)

My freinds take advantage of the fact I like anime. When they ask me why I like it I just say "why do you like music?" or "Why do you like movies?" or something like that. There are some idiots out there who think all anime is hentai (Manga porn) so when I draw in class they always blurt out and say I'm drawing hentai.
All of them are idiots you don't need to keep it to yourself just come out with it. It doesn't matter what others think, all that matters is that your happy and that you enjoy it.

Just realize that there are many people that are afraid of revealing that they love anime, it is all part of this typical American stereotype that regulates all peer pressure in Schools. There may be many people that are the same as you, just not revealing their secret pasttime. I encourage you to get the strength up and ask them, there may be a couple in your group that watch anime, and are just not saying anything. Either way, if they are true friends, then you will have the same friends regardless of what you do, you may even gain a few by showing another facet of your personality.

I actually have a large group of friends that like anime. One of them is one of the best anime/manga artists i've seen! On the other hand, there are the people who haven't a clue what anime is, and always ask what it is, or when i'm drawing a pic, ask why i'm drawing cartoons.

>looks to MistressRoxie< 1
>looks around< er...1...
In my group of 5 friends, Roxie is the only one who may like anime and know what it is and others. I have one friend who sat and watched some of Escaflowne, but she doesn't like anything else. And, another who like Rurouni Kenshin, Inu Yasha, and Yu Yu Hakusho, but not any others.
But, in my school, I have found quite a few people who like anime. Yet, I don't have classes with them. >_<
To most people, that is like my secret life. >.>
