So It turns out that Its a lot dirtier and explicit than I had ever thought. I always thought that It was a goody goody show and it is, but only because the translators made it that way. so the japanese version was a lot wose than i had ever thought. Oh, and who's Minako? I do not know the japanese names you'll have to forgive me.

Endymion was the guy that the greek goddess of the moon put in eternal sleep so she could lay with, spoon and admire him all the time. Not a real happy story.

I was very suprised by this the first time I saw the the uncut version, it was very graphic and dirty at times. Only having watched it in America until that point, i had alwys thought it was a kids show, something stupid to promote good values with the Sailor Says thing.

How wrong I was! :o

I did like sailor moon a lot! But I sort of grew out of it. It was the first anime I ever really watched. I stopped watching it when they took it off the air on FOX TV. And then picked up a different anime. But last time I saw it was on cartoon network, oh about, 4 or 5 years ago? Anyway, the series just isnt as exiting as it was when I was little. You know how you lose things after you grow up. Im not saying Sailor Moon is for little kids, its just when I saw it it was different for me. I was like 3 when I first saw it. So not that I really understood it all till I was 10. But over all, I give Sailor Moon two thumbs up!! (My inner child agrees with me in that one too.) :D
Sorry to go off topic, but I found an AMV of Sailor Moon called 'The Blossom's Lament', and it was for Sailor Moon R: The Movie. It revolved around the love triangle between Usagi, Fiore, and Mamoru (Roses as weapens, and no, that was not a translation, he used roses as weapons), and it was so touching that it made me cry...has anyone else seen it?
Since this is about sailorMoon it's not off topic

You mean the SailorMoonR movie? Yes, I've seen it. Actually I think I may have seen the AMV too, but I've definately seen the movie in both dubbed and subbed versions.

I have to disagree with your love triangle theory since Fiore (which is italian for flower BTW) and Mamoru only met when they were children so it can't really be theorized that they had anything more than a platonic relationship from the get go.

I think that the reason Fiore had such strong feelings towards Mamoru was because he was the first friends Fiore ever had.

But yes, the movie was touching. I thought it was so sweet in the end when
Fiore gave Mamoru that flower to bring SailorMoon back to life as a child then Mamoru kissed SailorMoon to give her the nectar
It was also a good way to explain why Tuxedo Kamen has such a lame power in the anime instead of his cool manga power.

I'm guessing that you're a bit younger than me. If you are around my age I'm guessing you're very sheltered since I don't think SailorMoon uncut is all that 'dirty'.

And it still promotes good vaules because it's got some strong women and good triumphing over evil.

Explicit? PLease sailormoon to me is about as explicit as a Reba McIntyre song. Unless you get offended by seeing outlines (very bad outlines) of someone's breasts and behind as they transform which is something else both DiC and CWi edited out. Except it was only on the planetary senshi and not on SailorMoon. SailorMoon was still mostly goody goody. It was just dumbed down for children in the edited US to watch.

Trust me Sailor Moon was never explicit. I've seen NEw angel, Sakura Diaries and La Blue Girl...that's explicit. And yes I have no problem admitting to watching anime porn. It's funnier than real porn.

Haruka and Michiru (Amara and Michelle) were never cousins or close friends or what ever else any of the European dubs (Or SOS) have turned them into. They were created as lovers. Naoko Takeuchi said that they were lovers and since she created them I'm willing to believe her.

I'm kind of tired right now, so I'll refrain from adding more on this post at the moment.

Chibi, I might not be younger than you, Im not 12, if thats what your saying, it was just very suprising to see some of that stuff in what I thought was an anime marketed to a younger crowd. In terms of them (the targeted audience) it was dirty.

That makes sense then since that's how the creater of the AMV put out his/her opinon and you haven't seen the movie.

Infact, I think my idea of how there couldn't be any real love triangle is also an opinion. Though even if there was some romance it would still only be one sided on Fiore's part since Mamoru/Darien only seems to be in love with Usagi/Serena (unless you want to get into some strange thing with Black Lady and the manga because that was a bit eery.

I can't believe it! I had an 'exchange of words' (I'd hate to call it a disagreement)
with an incredibly well-known Otaku, ChibiHorsewoman! *I feel so proud of myself*

And yes, that does make sense when referring to the Fiore one-sided love thing with Darien...also, that everyone is entitled to their own point of view and opinion. And yeah, it wouldn't be a love triangle as much as it was (based on the AMV, not the movie) an "I'm jealous of Serena because Darien loves her and not me, so I'm gonna take revenge" thing on behalf of Fiore.

Also, maybe Fiore had mixed feelings (Both love and/or deep friendship) for Darien because he had experianced (as far as I know) neither emotion, and this being (correct me if I'm wrong) his first friend, or contact with someone who was kind to him, he didn't know what to make of it emotionally.

Thank you for helping me become a bit more insightful and more aware of other's opinions. :D

:babble: ooh i love sailor moon! It''s one of my favourite animes and one of the first i watched. I wish they still showed it, even the dub. My favourite seasons are S and Stars. I loved the ending to the series even though i know a lot of big sailor moon fans didn't. My favourite character is Sailor Saturn because.....well i don't really know why. I always seem to like the kind of tragic characters of a series for some reason.

*sighs* I've finally been sucked back in...

Actually, I bought the first and second seasons a couple of months ago and have been slowly wading my way through all the introductory material. At first I was just mildly amused--I remembered absolutely nothing of the show, and for at least half a decade the only Sailor Moon-related stuff I owned were a couple of SuperS VHS fansubs (I can't even remember how I got my grubby little paws on those). It didn't help that Jadeite has got to be one of the lamest villains of all time. I mean, really--he was absolutely useless.

But when Nephrite came around I started thinking "Hmm, he's a big improvement." At least he could look good while bumbling around getting his butt whipped by a pack of teenage girls. All the same, I was relieved when he finally kicked the bucket (and mildly surprised that his death scene, though unspeakably corny, didn't feel horribly out of place).

Zoisite, on the other hand, freaking rocks. He's pretty, petty and (at the point I'm at, which is a few episodes before Venus comes into the picture) has accomplished more than Jadeite and Nephrite put together. I love his flower petals, his blatant gayness, his jealous fits, and especially how he always relished going out of his way to taunt Nephrite. Of course the most appealing thing about him is the fact that he cries "Zoi!" whenever doing anything that requires the slightest bit of magical or physical exertion. It's too darn cute for words. Additionally, he seems to have relatively good taste in men, and that earns him major points.

Oh, and is it just me, or is Mamoru about ten times cooler than that dorky Tuxedo Mask? I prefer to think of them as separate people. :p

Its funny cause I've only seen the dubbed version where Zoicite is a female. They dont allow gay people especially back then in the dubs -.- but I remember I use to like Nephlite, even with his mullet (ack what the heck we're people thinking?) and how he somewhat fell in love with molly...and she found out about him being evil but didnt care ^^ cheesy but it was still a nice touch. How she had her memories erased kind of ruined it, but yeah. There seems to be a theme with the different groups. (Zoicite, Nephlite etc.) (Fisheye, Tigereye etc.) that begans to create a pattern that annoys me. As far as live shows go Vash-san....O.o;;; I don't even want to know the horror. Hi. Ah, Sailor Moon. I remember watching it when I was a kid myself, it was the very first anime that I watched. The one thing I liked was their school uniforms. Actually, my older cousin at the time got me to watching it and he and I would watch it whenever he'd come visit us from LA. Hmmm...I liked all the characters but my favorite was Sailor Moon. Being that it was the first anime that I ever watched, I wouldn't mind having a few DVDs - or the DVD Box Set...geez, if I wasn't hooked on Lupin right now...meh, I'll never get tired of Lupin, I'm basically hooked on Lupin for life.

But yeah having the Sailor Moon DVD Box Set would be nice.

I am a huge fan of this anime. I'm not sure how the frenzy for it died away--I know it used to be really popular when I was around 4-6 years of age. And yes, I watched it then, too. I remember I would wake up at 6 am every morning JUST to see the show. I was so fascinated by it even though I didn't really understand the gist of it. I thought that Sailor Moon was so pretty, and I wanted to be just like her. ^^

That was then. After it was taken off tv, I lost interest in it. But, in recent times, out of curiousity, I picked it up again. Now, it is one of my favorite animes.

Of course, I understand it a lot more now than I did when I was 4. A bit juvenile at times, I can't help but applaud it for being awesome. It really punches feminism up a noch, and proves that girls REALLY can rock, while staying beautiful and sexy at the same time.

My favorite character would have to be Sailor Saturn/Hotaru. Our personalities are quite the same, and I admire how she is so different than the other soldiers. I'm not sure why, but I have always held a liking for the distant ones.

Besides her, my other favorites would have to be Sailors Venus and Uranus. Venus has the most adorable personality, and Uranus has the kick-*** atitude. Gotta love them. ^^

My favorite movie is Sailor Moon S. I love the plot and the little love story behind it.

Romantic, I am.

Astonishingly, watching this arc has made me like Mamoru more. I was actually very pleased with how
Zoisite's death was presented. For a second or two I was worried he would just evaporate, but he was able to die in Kunzite's arms, surrounded by flowers. He made his last request or whatever right when I was getting a little teary-eyed, haha. Although naturally I was very sad to see him go, I still found Kunzite's insta-garden hilarious. That's the kind of thing I love about this show. ^_~
I didn't think of
his death as being Mamoru's fault... I'm not totally sure I understand the situation, though. Why did Zoisite want to kill him, anyway? Was he trying to get revenge for his beautiful face? Was it because Kunzite gave him permission to? If so, maybe I'll have to revise my opinion of Kunzite. However, at the moment it looks to me as though the whole situation stems from the fact that Queen Beryl is a royal *****.
What really surprised me is that Kunzite appears to be a relatively straight-forward guy, at least in comparison to Zoisite--he doesn't pull any punches. In that sense, he's a much more respectable villain than any of the previous ones, and he also seems a lot more powerful.

I hope Mamoru eventually goes back to being his annoying, snarky self. It was always fun to watch him torment Usagi.
Uh... is Queen Beryl in love with him? Or is it Queen Metalia? Or, heaven forbid, both? ^_^;; Anyway, it's nice to see the guy get abducted for once.
I'm way too lazy to cut paste and everything, so I'll just space everything out in neat paragraphs in order. Yippee!
I think Zoi boi was trying to get revenge for his face...who wouldn't? As far as I could tell in the episode Kunzite just gave him permission to have the duel, not kill of Tuxedo Kamen/ Mamoru/ Prince Endymion. The kill thing was completely Zoisite's idea because he likes to play dirty.
I agree with you that Kunzite is definately one of the most powerful villains in the whole series and definately the most powerful of that whole season. But
wait until you see teh episodes where they try to get the guginshu back from Sailor Moon. It's a reather odd combination of sneaky tricks and backhandedness. Plus the episode with the Princess Seminar is kind of funny.
And as for your other question
It'll take a while, but after they all die and lose their memories Mamoru goes back to picking on Usagi and I believe BEryl is in love with Endymion. There's quite a bit more proof and explaination to this in the manga than the anime. Metallia is just an entity that Beryl revived
Now, what does everyone think about that infamous manga picture of the four shinteno (ie: Jadeite, Nephrite, Zoisite and Kunzite) with the four inner senshi (Mars, Jupiter, Mercury, and Venus)? Does anyone think it's possible that there could have been a romance?

Yeah, some of those episodes were really hilarious. Now that you mention it, I did
love the Princess Seminar episode--the whole frisbee schtick was just too funny for words. Speaking of funny episodes, though, my favorite comedic moment in the entire show has to be when Sailor Moon and co. were trying to chase a villain down an alley (Zoisite, I think) and then got completely tangled up because there wasn't enough space for all of them to pose at the same time.
This show is actually pretty good at self-parody.

That aspect of it reminded me of Final Fantasy VII, weirdly enough.
Beryl is to Sephiroth (or Hojo, perhaps) as Metallia is to Jenova.
Okay, that's a terrible explanation, but it made sense when I first thought of it. :p

One season down, four to go!

Speaking of funny episodes, what did you think about the one where
Zoisite is chasing that cat who is the last holder of a rainbow crystal through the sewers and he's feeling along the walls and suddenly they get fuzzy. Some how there's a light and Zoisite realizes that the fuzzy walls are a bunch of rats.
You know when you think about it those seven episodes in the first season were a great way to learn about rainbows and prisms.

Just wait until you get to the second half of R and CHibiUsa arrives.
You want to talk about incestrous behaivior ther's your character

Haha, that episode was classic. Especially the very beginning, when the
fat cat flung down a fishbone a la Tuxedo Mask before proceeding to "rescue" Luna.
I'm not quite there yet, but I've gotten pretty close. I reckon that right now I'm about five or six episodes away from ChibiUsa (what a name!). Anyway, I hope that R starts to pick up soon... Ali has grown on me a bit, but I still passionately hate En. As villains, they're just not terribly exciting. I wouldn't mind if only one of them was fickle, but having both be so romantically capricious kind of kills the believability of their relationship. Of course, I suppose I too would get bored after spending that much time drifting through space with the same one person for company.

Usagi's facial expressions are so cute. I almost want to make an animated avatar showing her crying, pouting, lusting after food, etc., but that would entail actually getting off my behind (figuratively speaking, of course) and taking screencaps.

I own all three movies but haven't so much as opened them yet... I think I saw either the R or S movie a few years ago, though I remember absolutely nothing about it. In any case, my question is: to adequately understand what's going on, do I need to watch the entire corresponding season before seeing each movie?

Okay, i've decided to restart my sailor moon watching again. Somehow, it seems a lot funnier this time around. I just finished the first arc of R, and I'm just starting where ChibiUsa joins the frey. Hehe, i forgot how much i liked this show.

In answer to your question Dagger, I'd say it's kinda hard for me to answer. I decided one day to show my friend the Sailor Moon movies. Now, she had a general idea of the story line, from what I'd explained to her, but she'd never seen an episode before. I thought you could get a general idea of what was going on from the movie, and she said she sort of understood it, but then again, she had no idea of the backstory of the characters. Which, you kinda have to suspect it being a movie and all. In a way, the movies kinda tie up, and reiterate the end of the series, so unless you want to know the ending, i'd suggest waiting till you watch the series first, and then endulging in the movies.

hehe, i just have to say, i think one of my favorite episodes is when one of the Cardians attack that Nursey School, and Usagi and Mamoru have to take care of the baby.

@duorocks17: I finally figured out who the person in your avatar is! I can't believe it took me so long... those eyes are quite distinctive.

Right now I'm only eight or ten episodes away from the end of R; at this point I guess I may as well just wait to see the movie. Thus far the show has covered both the distant past and the distant future--it really makes me wonder what the next three seasons have in store, heh.
Is Saphir actually the prince's brother? I've seen about a billion different spellings for the prince's name, and I can't remember which was used in ADV's subtitles, so I'm not even going to bother guessing. "Prince D" will do for the moment, I suppose. I assumed they were fully blood-related until Saphir started insinuating that he, like Esmeraude, is in love with D. At least I think that's what he was implying--my shounen-ai sense could be going haywire, but whatever. I'm oddly amused by the prospect that R is a veiled exploration of incest, haha (first Chibi-Usa, and now this!?).
While Rubeus was relatively cool, Esmeraude is rather annoying. Maybe I'm just naturally biased toward the male villains.

Okay, I have a question concerning the SM movies. Exactly how many movies are there. At first I thought there was five, one corisponding to each season, but then, as of late, I've only really seen three of them. I know if there's a Stars movie it probibly won't be released in the States any time soon. I've been trying to complete my SM collection (Very Slowly), and Monday I bought the R and S movies with some of my X-mas money, and it was this that got me thinking of this question. So if anyone could help me out here, it would be greatly appreshiated(sp?).

In answer to your question there are only three Sailor Moon Movies. R, S, and SuperS.

The R movie gave some insight as to why Tuxedo Kamen throws red roses-he holds stock in FTS-keh. It was a rather sweet movie. ChibiUsa actually said something nice about SailorMoon and the song Moon Revenge is one of my favorite anime songs ever.

The S movie was also covered in the manga between the Death Busters and Dead Moon arcs. Meaning Naoko wrote it herself. However as with every anime adapted from manga this one was slightly different. But both times the inners, Neptune, Uranus and Pluto (poor Saturn never gets to feel the love) are in it.
Tuxedo Kamen dresses up as Santa Clause and freaks out a Snow Dancer which is one of my favorite scenes
. This is also quite possibly the best movie of the three.

THe SuperS movie was pretty bad. It was mainly CHibiUsa centered, but it has a scene with USagi looking like she'll die from her cookies, priceless. Also, Tuxedo Kamen gets hit with a Bon Bon Babie-worth the money.

So there you have it, CHW's rundown of the movies. There are only three.

Thank you so much CHW. I think I may have already known this, but my info may have gotten corrupted thanks to years of going to poorly maintained and misinformed SM sites. And I've always thought that scene you mentioned from the Sailor Moon S movie was funny. Thanks again!
