What anime do you wish you never saw in the first place?

Nightwalker was horrible. one of those anime where you sit there praying it will get better, 'cause the premise is fairly cool... and it just doesn't. ever. and you find yourself yearning to hear the opening music for the ending theme.

Magic Knights Rayearth. predictable, long, and boring. i liked the plot twist ending, but the set up wasn't worth the payoff.

El-Hazard OAV. one of those overrated series that involve a magical woman and a clueless man amidst a plethora of bitchy, violent women. i liked the fact that the series had lesbian characters that were treated as human beings, but in general it was just boring and predictable. a waste of time.

Love Hina. i actually own the whole series of this, because a misguided former friend bought it all for me over the course of a few birthdays / Christmases. i actually really enjoyed it when it first came out, but i was a young teenager then. it's an entertaining watch in short doses but i can't even sit through a whole DVD now. the accidental-groping gags get old pretty quickly, as well as the constant misunderstanding, and it doesn't have any of the high levels of weirdness or wackiness that better series with the same harem set up, like Ranma or Tenchi, have to keepit interesting.

Gundam Wing. i had an ex that was obsessed with this and watched several episodes ofduress. it's not enough action to be a good action anime and not enough sap to make a good shounen ai or romance anime, so really the presence of both giant robots and pretty teenagers is a gigantic letdown.

Planetes. i've seen a few episodes of this and it's quite beautiful and seems like a good concept, and i believe it's done by the same team who did Cowboy Bebop so i'd expect good things from it. however, despite the things working for it, i thought the series was far to much talk and not enough action, plus it was a little predictable. i wouldn't definitely list it as a terrible waste of my time, but it was definitely yawn-inducing.

as far as Inuyasha and Pokemon-- at some point i have at least found them entertaining, and even interested enough to watch another episode. none of these other series have done that for me, though in several instances i've still watched the whole thing (want to depress yourself? think of all the time you've spent watching anime... or rewatching anime... or watching anime that you thought was boring / crappy).

I don't really have one right now but don't hate me for saying this! xD Right now im borrowing Cowboy Bebop from my friend. From what I've seen online and everything it looked pretty cool and all, but now that im actually watching it, it's not living upto expectations, the CG looks all wierd and i dont think it really fits into the picture well. And the art style is a little different than what I like x) but some people seem to love it! I'm on about episode 5 right now and I dont see much of a storyline, I'm starting to regret watching it because if I get too far in i will have to know how it ends and then i will waste approx 650 mins.(estimated time on the box lmao) of my life watching an anime i didn't enjoy xD. Ya like it said don't snap on meh If you love this anime lol. Just my opinion :animeswea

Anyone try to sway my mind on this anime ?

And what anime(s) do you really hate or think smells worse than that one fat kid in your class who never showers..?

Welcome to OtakuBoards Dooxy,

Since your thread is essentially the same thing as this thread: what Anime do you wish you never saw it the first place I am merging your thread: our Most hated, worst, cheapest, suckiest anime? into it.

As it says in the stickly: IMPORTANT: How to Post in Anime Lounge
Before you post a new thread, please perform a forum search on that subject. Type in the name of the anime/game that you want to talk about and then see if it comes up on the list. If it does, use that existing thread to make comments. I guess one I could name would be Dragonball Z. I was discussing it with a friend the other day, and we're sure that each of the main characters has 'come back to life' at least twice each. Lol, Goku's probably come back to life ten times more than anyone else. I enjoyed Dragonball, but it just went OTT from DBZ onwards. I also wish I never saw Macross. Perhaps that's because I saw the dubbed version first, and I'm not into dubbed versions of anime (I'd rather read subtitles, tyvm). So I suppose that could have put me off it, but it definately needs an updating. I didn't find the 'plot' all too appealing, either. Meh, you win some you lose some -_-

One anime I wish I never saw... Definately BoBoBo-BoBo-BoBo (or however many "Bo"'s there are in his name!) I hate things that have no plot and if that thing has a plot than excuse me for not being patient enough to find it! :animeangr
Hmm... I was into Dragonball Z for quite a while... I do fancy the idea of resurrection rather much (you know, someone close to you dies, you try to bring them back, and it has horrible reprocussions-- that kind of thing. :animesmil) but I figure it should be something that costs the resurrectee (is that a word?) something. (Like in Fullmetal Alchemist, how Ed-kun loses his arm and Al-kun losed his whole body.) They get brought back way too many times and it doesn't cost those who brought 'em back anything (except the frustration and annoyance of finding the Dragonballs again.) I, personally, like things with combat (InuYasha, Fullmetal, etc.) but if it's purely about fighting, then there's really no point to it.

One Piece- It's just..kinda strange. The way the creator drew thier characters just isn't the way I like them...so tall....and most of them are butt ugly :animedepr

Bobobo-bobo-bobo- This can probably mostly explain it's self...such a strange anime....and...I don't really see the point of it. It's just so...random.

And I don't seek to offend anybody, it's just my opinion.

I know one movie that i wish i never seen and that "Once Upon A Time". That move sucks, i think it does. It kinda reminded me of Romeo and Juliet but a cheap anime version. i just could stand it i wish i had that hour of boredom back.

I have no idea why people are naming things like Dragon Ball Z or Pokemon, because in my opinion those are the two animes that made anime popular in the U.S. in the first place.

For me I'm going to have to say Digimon, I used to wach it I loved it whatever, then they changed all the main characters it's like ok.

BoBoBo-bo-bo-bobo looks so random I don't even bother with it.

I wish I had never seen FLCL, it was so weird and very short so eh.

As of Pokemon they need to relax, they have to be at like episode 800, there is no way someone could see it all they've been playing it for so many years.

Anime I Should Not have Watched

1.Kikaider--They switched the plot around and gave it a bad ending.

2.Inuyasha--How does Inuyasha keep getting stronger and yet he still can't easily kill most demons? If there were such strong demons, wouldn't they already rule the world? Why doesn't anyone give Kagome a kimono, or at least some clothes that would offer protection while fighting? Why don't they just let Sesshoumaru kill everyone in the series and then let him start a cosmetics and feather boa company?

3.Reign: The Conqueror--Freaky bloated midgets and grown men in codpieces with no pants. Enough said. :animestun

Now the following I completely agree with.

1) Why did they feel the need to ruin this series? It ended on a good note. Then they come back with the last 4 and destroy it.

3)There were so many things wrong with this show I diont even know where to begin. Animation terrible. Story past the point of confusoin. And like you said grown men in cod pieces.

Okay, lets see....animes I would have rather ripped out my eyeballs than watch (or even see a picture of in some cases) again.

1. Milk Chan - Can we say idiotic? I hated it just by looking at the characters. Then I had the unfortunate chance of watching an episode ~shudders~

2. SD Gundam - Chibi Gundams?! Is there anything more to say? They had bloody eyeballs! I didn't even bother to watch that one. I loved G Gundam, but I screamed when I saw that.

3. Reign the Conquerer - Creepy. Creepy. Creepy. Confusing. Oh, and did I say creepy? Could have lived without that one, thank you.

4. DBZ - My friend is in love with it, but I think that the only ones that were good were the Cell and Buu series. Before and after that and all the movies. Ugh. As pointed out in places, too much resurrection. Where are all these bodies coming from anyways?

5. Pokemon - Yes, I have a bit of an obsession with this one when I was young. NowI can't stand it though. The worlds just keep coming and the pokemon keep growing. Do they ALWAYS find these species in series of 150 or so? ~shakes her head~

6. Sailor Moon - Okay, don't hate it. Actually I'm still quite fond of it. It just annoys me because it puts girls in tight outfits and miniskirts and talks about morals. Ummm....contradiction?

7. Another one I don't hate, but think needs to be stopped: InuYasha - I like this one, I really do. But it just goes on and on forever. With no change! Inu and Kagome
don't get farther or closer
, there's no conflict other than the fights, and Naraku
never dies.
Heck, like 70 episodes in the jewel needed like
3 more pieces
so why does the quest NEVER END?! Rawr.... I have to give it its props though because it started my anime obsession, though Sailor Moon was the first show I watched almost religiously XD I didn't know what anime was then though.

And, to end, pretty much anything that has cards to go with it needs to die. This includes Yu-Gi-Oh, Duel Masters, and another few that remind me of them such as Rave Masters, Beyblade, etc. Except Digimon. When that came out it was original and the first season or two, maybe even three were good. After that, though, the just needed to stop. I hate when things get blown out of proportion like Digimon and Pokemon.

Now, on the opposite end of the spectrum, the really need to make a second Fruits Basket season. They ended at the oddest place and only went up to 8 of the manga. Now there are 19 at least available in Japan, 13 in the US according to Tokyopop. They must continue! We want closure dang it!

Edit: After reading a little farther on, I was reminded of things like Code Lyoko as well and any Tenchi after the one that had the cat
that could turn into a spaceship
. FLCL rates in the ones that make my brain explode as well, simply because I got 3 episodes in and had no clue what the plot was supposed to be other than there was a chick from
space
and things came out of a dude's
forehead
. I have more or less just stopped watching CN because I can't take any of the newer animes. Some of them just make me want to shoot myself, sorry. And if I offended anyone, well, you can complain but it won't change my mind about these. Admittedly, some have their moments and their props, but in all they just need to...stop....now....

i hate most commercial anime like pokemon, that craze went through my school and nearly drove me insane, but i guess that seems it be a pretty generally one.

but i must say i really wish that i never seen angel sanctuary, was that a movie a series or what there were only three parts but it had to be continued. it disturbed the hell out of me.
i hate most commercial anime like pokemon
To be fair, everything you watch out there is commercial. There isn't an Anime out there that doesn't hope to make some sort of profit. Pokémon was a marketing giant, but all the Anime you've seen has some sort of merchandise they want to sell.

There are card games, video games, keychains, plushies, posters, cds, tissue holders, chopsticks, and anything else you can think of for any anime you want to think of. I'm not saying that Anime doesn't have any artistic merit at all, but in the end the animators need to eat.

In fact, I think I remember reading something about Rumiko Takahashi being one of the most paid people in Japan. ...Here it is. ^^
As in previous years, Rumiko Takahashi is the highest taxed anime or manga creator in Japan. In fact she was the second highest taxed individual on Mainichi's list, paying 142.7 million yen (US$1.3 million) in taxes in 2004.
Link.

It was a three episode OVA which followed the manga until part-way through book 4. The manga goes much more in-depth, and the entire series runs 20 volumes. The "Game over or Continue" screen at the end of the anime appears in her books at chapter ends, but there were just 3 OVA eps.

Ok I known that every anime is commercial in the way that they seek profits for their work, but where I live there are really two types of anime the ?commercial? which has no age restrictions that is shown on TV all the time and you can buy the DVD?s, Manga?s, toys, cards, games, and books just about anywhere you go, and the movies will be shown in any cinema. And the second being ?Cult?, which is just basically anime for audience over 15, which is only aired on cult night specials on SBS unless you have pay TV and you have to go to speciality stores to find the DVD?s and Manga?s, and you can only find the merchandise in selected stores in major cities if you lucky. Trying to get to a cinema to see one of these movies is even harder. But of course I?m sure it?s always easier to find these in major cities. The other thing is that in the smaller towns and cities anime is nearly always seen as kids cartoons or porn, so where I live pretty much sucks especially when your one of only three otaku?s in the entire town.

Try watching the uncut version, there is no ?Sailor Moon Says? nonsense in the original. The first two seasons had about 15 episodes completely cut out. Maybe here in the USA or other countries outside of Japan you can only find tons of memorabilia for the popular kiddy shows. But once you get into Japan you can find all sorts of anime goodies for more than just the popular kiddy anime shows.

As for a show I wish I had never seen, I would have to go with NGE. I actually enjoyed it at first but I really disliked the ending. It just felt like it didn?t live up to what had been happening through out the entire show. Maybe I need to watch it with subtitles, or read the manga, but many parts of the series didn?t explain what was going on. So when it did end I was sitting there thinking why is this considered such a good anime? It had potential but didn?t seem to live up to it.
Perfect Blue .Why? Because that is the most horrificly scary thing Ive ever seen. I had to sleep with the lights on for a month after watching that movie. :animedepr .
oh i totaly forgot about that. that movie was very odd. but it wasnt as frightening as i heard it would be, thats why i didnt like it. needed more gore.

oh yes, another horrid anime that i regret laying my pupils on would be Rave Master.
that show made absolutley ZERO sense. was anyone else appauled by the snowman dog..thing that was walking around?

the weird thing was that before the anime debut i was big into the manga of rave master, but then cartoon network ad to smash my intrest in that to rubble by showing it on television, totaly ruining it for me.

same with one peice and naruto. i cant even enjy there manga thanks to cartoon network.

sometimes i think the world would be better if people would stop turing good manga into crappy shows
