Favorite opening and ending themes?

There aren't too many opening themes that i really like in terms of worth mentioning, but i can honestly say that most anything by asian kung-fu generation is great, most specifically Rewrite from FMA, and Haruka Kanata from Naruto. Those 2 are definitly favorites. Also i'm not sure of the names, and im not particularly a fan in the anime itself but i like the opening themes from Ghost in the Shell.

I have more favorite ending themes than opening themes, Shinjitsu no Uta and Come from Inuyasha (shinjitsu no uta played from episodes 86-108 or 109 i believe and Come played between 128 to 146), Shiki no Uta from Samurai Champloo (the first ending theme i believe), Himegoto from Vandread, Viva*Rock from naruto (the third one, with the chibi characters marching on the bottom).

Well, in lieu of mentioning songs from a couple of dozen shows, I'll just go ahead and drop this one thing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oAUuDmRb1M

Good luck getting that out of your head, by the way. Ya-ku-so-ku yo!!~

Her "Onii-sama!" has always been my favorite part of that (and yet why does it make me feel so dirty?). I saw a great fan-animation that had Yoshino from Maria-sama ga Miteru going through the exact same motion. So infectiously cute. So moe!

Then again, this is one of those songs that I don't really enjoy listening to on its own. It's best when it has the animation accompanying it.

Awesome I have been waiting for this topic for a long time. Well my favourite would have to be Tsubasa wa Pleasure Line from Chrono Crusade because it is really catchy and i like the lyrics. Also Sakura Saku From Love Hina it is really cute and gets me bouncing in my chair . But i would have to say that my favourite of all time would be Merry Go Round Of Life by Joe Hisaishi From Howls Moving Castle its so dramatic and comedic aswell i really love it.

The opening theme to Last Exile is a lot of fun. The upbeat techno-iness of it totally opposes the classical music in the rest of the series, but I think it makes it all the more enjoyable. Somehow LE manages to make the two genres of music blend together flawlessly. The fact that the song is 6 minutes long doesn't hurt either- the repeat button on my MP3 player is broken. XD

While I also really like the ending theme to Last Exile (it has one of my favorite lines in a song: "If you are going to travel the skies, I want to become your wings"), I think my favorite ending theme is Smashing Blue from the Gravitation OVA. I love Kotani Kinya's voice, and I really love the arrangements in this song. It's the kind of song that stands up outside the realm of anime in the real world of music in general.

I love the first and second ending themes for Fullmetal Alchemist, as well as the second opening. I'm also quite fond of the openings for Shaman King and the first ending theme. The Hamtaro themes are fun, too. :animesmil And the Rurouni Kenshin opening and ending themes. And don't even get me started on the InuYasha themes. I got kinda bored with "Change the World", but I love "My Will" and "Fukai Mori".

My favorite openining themes, and music in general in anime are as follows:

Samurai Champloo: Hip Hop has never been used in an anime. In fact, it goes against alot of anime's base audience, who are mostly j-rock/j-pop fans. Then comes along Champloo with Nujabes, Fat Jon, and etc. with these organic, flowing hip hop beats and rhymes that are just soothing to listen to. I particularly enjoy the opening theme, "Battle Cry", and the ending theme for the show's last episode (could I get help with the title?).

Cowboy Bebop: I'm usually not a fan of Jazz music, simply because it is very old and very corny at points. But the Seatbelts and Kanno's arrangements are just beautiful. "Tank" and "Real Folk Blues" are great songs, and the individual songs for each episode are also amazing. Great music all around.

FLCL: The Pillows. Plan and simple the best J-Rock band in my mind. "Shooting Star" is a great song, as is the ending theme which's name escapes aswell. I love the music in the show all together, just like my previous choices.

I can't choose just one out of them all because their all so great and different. Their all just memorable and good.

Hmm... I can't really say I care too much about most openings of many animes, but I do have a few that I liked. 1st and foremost...

Ghost in the Shell: SAC - I think it's called Inner Universe or something like that. To be honest, I like almost anything done by Yoko Kanno, but I don't remember most of the openings.... "shrugs" Rise from 2nd Gig was a nice one as well. I can't think of the words right now, (just waking up so to speak) but I don't want to say they're soothing... it's more of a catchy thing if anything.

Vandread - Just the 1st Stage though. Both opening and ending themes were just very catchy.....

Hellsing - I could probably listen to Hellsings opening all day, everyday.

Other notables are: Cowboy Bebop, Inuyasha, Samurai Champloos ending themes.
Her "Onii-sama!" has always been my favorite part of that (and yet why does it make me feel so dirty?).
Yeah, I think that entire show was meant to make us feel completely guilty about ourselves. Well, when we weren't more disappointed with the poor production values.

Ah, what the heck, I'll drop a couple of others. '80s-themed this time!! Anyone not retro as all get out can probably skip this.

-Dirty Pair (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVGlh1OrE-4). That little foot-tapping bit at the beginning pretty much gets me every time. Plus, Russian Roulette is unbelievably catchy.
-Dominion Tank Police (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cU9SCjCaibs) The veterans probably saw this on the Sci-fi channel way back when. HOT DANCE IN CHERRY MOON!
-Macross (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRemIClpTn0). This theme is probably encoded in the national DNA of Japan at this point. ALSO: whatever happened to all those ops sung by awesome, vibrato-heavy baritones?
-Hokuto no Ken (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mttb-uaOOyU). Three words: you, wa, and S-H-O-C-K.
-Bubblegum Crisis (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVnz_-j6MQQ). I may be cheating on this one, since it's not technically an op but is in fact the whole opening sequence for the show. Still, what way to start your series. And it's a great song too, courtesy of Priss and the Repricants.

God, that's enough '80s for now.

I absolutely adore the opening to Witch Hunter Robin, Shell by Bana, as well as the first opening for Bleach, Asterisk by Orange Range! ^__^ For endings, I loved the ending "Life is Life a Boat" by Rie Fu, the first Bleach ending, as well as Wind from Naruto. FMA had great opening and closing music, but I think my favourite from the series was "Melissa" by Porno Graffiti.

The Fourth Avenue Cafe, Rurouni Kenshin Ending Theme

Even after a good 7 years since I first saw the anime, I still get really excited when I see this ending sequence. It finished off and featured many of the most memorable scenes in the series (Edo arc, Kenshin's departure and that brilliant fight sequence between Kenshin and Saito, to name a few) and saw the transition from a comic RK down to a more serious, drama-heavy theme. I also associate it with a major change in L'Arc-en-Ciel's career so it's a pretty special ending theme.

I definatly enjoy the opening of Kodocha, also known as Child's Toy or Kodomo no Omocha. The opening I'm talking about is the one with the song "Ultra Relax". It can be seen here: [click]

There was a spoof version of this opening made for the anime Naruto by someone on deviantArt that I ended up finding. If you want to watch that, there is a link for it: [click]

Another opening I liked was the second opening for Full Metal Alchemist. The one with the song Rewrite. That one is nice.

I enjoy the Princess Tutu opening, as well. :animesmil

Oh my! A favorites on anime opening and ending themes and I have yet to post in it? Although I have said it once and I am boud to say it once more, I think my ultimate fave would have to be Seishun Kyousoukyoku from Naruto. I just love the music in that song, I could care less about the lyrics (other than the fact that I don't understand them), but there is this one very small break of music right in between the line, "Soredemo boku wa shinpru na" "Omoi wo tsutaetai dake no no fukinukeru" I just love that part, although they have it more throught the whole song that part just has to be my favorite tune. The same goes for Nami Kaze Satallite. Love the guitar solo in that song, It makes me headbang. Tis fun, I can also tend to get the same effect with Ichirin no Hana from bleach, it may be because of all the rock like music in it but yeah. Its fun to headbang to J-pop.

Indeed. Looks like someone got there before me, heh. It defintly goes better with the ending sequence though, as opposed to just listening to it.
