Originally posted by Genkai China is only "officially" communist. None of the citizens are really all that unhappy, since they're not really bad communism right now. You can easily live off of 400 USD there. Really. I don't think them changing to democracy wil change much there, except maybe the TV,. Which 9/10 times is women dancing and singing about how much they love China, or members of theparty dropping their ballots into a box. for five hours. Of course, if you watch it too long you eventually begin to think that China IS the best nation in the world. Sheesh. Okay, so maybe it wouldn't change nothig, it would make for better-i-ness.. But mad capitalism isn't all that great for that huge a country like that.. Or something.. All I can say is saying "setting over 1 billion people free" is a ibt stretching it?it's not slavery or anything. Just a lot of poverty.
Capitalism isn't all that great? I don't think people understand the concept of capitalism here, because of China's exploitation of it, they are a leading power. You see approximately 128,697,547 are beneath poverty level. The GDP per capita is about $4,400 in china. This is on average. There's a 32% unemployment rate in major cities and an even greater rate in rural areas. Much of China lives in poverty. Sure you could live comfortably with 400 USD (actually it's more like 500 USD) , but good luck making that in China.... What's the problem with a communist society? The average citizen can't concievably improve his lifestyle or his family's. Sure, China does take advantage of competative capitalism. However most of the capitalism is provided by foreign business in China. Hell 9.8% of business in china is US, 18.1 percent is Japanese. No, most of chinese business is Communist controlled. Please remember, communism is an ECONOMIC system, not a government. In fact, chinese people have both elected parties, and dictatorships in various epochs... of course China is a "communist state", this means most of the government is part of said economic party, so it's half and half. How do you know the Chinese are happy? I don't think they really know what life would be like as an American, Brit, or Aussie... it's not like they can really protest without being killed. Their constitution doesn't allow the right to protest... As for Russia, well, thank the Clintons. The Clinton administration pulled almost 84% of foreign administration from the Russian economic office, while Russia was in infrastructure reconstruction. Russia's been a democracy for 20 or so years now, we've been one for 200; let's give them some time. Think about it, it takes alot of change in the infastructure to support such a huge economic shift, it's just taking some time. Remember the global crisis of 1998? Yeah, Russia was up **** creek during that time, central Europe's had a nice hand, I wish we hadn't pulled out of Russia so quickly. Now Vladamir doesn't want us back... thanks Bill....
Originally posted by maladjusted What is this, the Bash-China thread? The people in China are probably proud of themselves, and they should be. Saying that they have a brutal history is stating the fact that you belive one cannot change one's ways. /size]
I understand this may seem like a china bashing thread. No.... I don't hate china. Good for them for launching a person into space. As for their history. I'm just bringing up the facts because when people don't learn from history, it tends to repeat itself. China's brutality has repeated itself over and over again.... I'm not limiting the option that they can change. I just think it's unlikely. The U.S. until recently, aruguably, has only gone to war over fairly just causes or the defense of it's people. (I think veitnam was the main exception, and most people would veiw the new war on Iraq as unjust, that's not the discussion though, people.) We strive to better ourselves and prevent perhaps inhumane mistakes of our past. In china 1 out of every 174 baby girls is killed after being born by it's own family because baby boys not only bring family "honor", but money, and social standing. Having a boy means you can have more than one child, because boys serve in the military.
Originally posted by maladjusted I personally want to learn and understand the Chinese culture adn language, just because of the fact that they could very well become a world power sooner or later. You're not going to ignore them when they become a world power, right? So there's no need to ignore them now, either. Japan isn't going to get any more bigger than what it is now. And if the tectonic plates keep it up, Japan will soon be the country under the ocean. [I wonder where all the anime and video games are going to go...=_=] Technology if the only thing the country really has, and it's practically racing with Korea neck-and-neck over the particular buisness region. There's a good chance they're going to lose, too.
Anime and Videogames will probably go to the largest consumer... the united states. Do I belive anime can be drawn in the United states? Yes. That's a different argument. As for Japan sinking beneath the plates of our world.... well maybe in a few million years, I'm counting the seconds down as we speak. China IS a world power... With a purchasing power parity of $5.7 trillion, GDP, and an annual growth of 8%, I doubt it's going anywhere. The only problem is china's invested in mostly raw material or labor processing, wich may someday become obsolete with automation. I think the fact that China's standing army has a manpower of 10,973,761 people (according to CIA world factbook) and it's nuclear capabilities (thanks mr. Clinton!) make them more frightening to myself than economic growth. Alas, I stray off topic. I say congratulations to China, perhaps they are changing after all.
-
I agree with Break. Personally, I don't care much for China; considering they posess one of the most brutal histories in the entirety of human existence. I think I'll clap my hands once or twice at the fact China finally cought up with Kennedy-administration America... whoo hoo. James, I'd have to disagree with you on the richest country aspect. I think money is fairly relative, each dollar valued at some certain price. I'm no economics major, but I think the only reason China is really steaming in today's economy is their use of labor, cheap labor. I know they have some fairly exclusive, or monopolized resources in China's vast expanse, but US technology is driving alot of improvement in our marketplace. I mean, look at Japan, it holds ALOT of technology sources by the balls; a fairly resourceless country is one of the major economical powers of the world.

Honestly, this thread has lost it's novelty value way back on the first page. School's tough, cry me a river. I'd rather slave away for 12 years training to be a doctor, then make 6 figures for the rest of my life than piss and moan and quit. "Is it me, or does school suck?" It's you.

Do you live in Michigan, Genkai? (notice I've not checked your otaku/profile, so I haven't the faintest)

These last three posts are the reason I'll be closing the thread. You can thank them. Next time, please stay on topic and use good post quality.

Yeah, I'm sure you don't know much "bout the other stuff" considering your post quality is little better than what single celled organisms could rack of. There's around 13 grammar and spelling errors in here, as well as various syntax problems. If I find ANY post in the lounge with more than 10 errors, I will delete them. Honestly people, post quality has really got to improve here. I've only been gone for two days, and it's been declining fairly rapidly. Use MS Word to type up your post... it's as simple as a copy paste. I debated whether I should close the entire thread thanks to "elf_gurl", but upon reading the GREAT discussion of abstract thought, I decided to hold back. Don't make me regret my decision.

I've spent most of my life like any normal kid with his aspriations and varied friendships. This all changed at age 17 when on vacation in the beautiful city of Florence, Italy; I was kissed by a girl named Laura. A new profound purpose opened up in my life: women. I suppose I've spent most of my life trying to improve my relationship with God, acheive my Career Goal as a Doctor, and falling in Love. (now for the fiction) I've now moved on to UCSC to go to med-school, meeting up with Jenna on the way. And so I am.... here. Personality Traits: Like-Women, God, Friends, Joking around, dancing, outdoors, music, singing, fellowship. Humor. Dislikes- ego's, idiocy ( I doubt we'll see that here), mean people.... I'm care free and amiable. I suppose that's about it. Oh yeah.. I'm funny, or at least I like to humor myself in that respect. Appearance: *searches for a scanner* damn.

Firstly, I advise caution. Both myself and Adahn are michiganders and could probably join your little "gathering". However... this is where pedaphiles and extremists give internet websites a bad name. Where exactly would you plan to meet now? *snicker* No..in all seriousness, please provide some details or PM me otherwise..

Debo ahora parar.
Originally posted by craig8429 Airsoft makes them multicolored bb's that are really small and plastic right? they also make replica Uzi's and stuff >_<
The bbs are small and plastic. They are usually fired at a bit higher velocity, but they are far more accurate. Because of their smaller size, they pack less Joules, and therefore hurt a bit less too. However, using paint BB's is HIGHLY unlikely, as Airsoft guns tend to come in fully automatic replica's of real fully auto guns (careful about legal problems here, don't weild them in public, cops WILL think you have an automatic rifle..), paint BBs would break in the barrel and ruin the gun. The downside is that you have to have an honor system in Airsoft. Honor is incredibly important, because you don't have any way of verifying you've been hit except for some pain and a welt the size of a mesquito bite... And yes.. they make replica uzis. I reccomend the AK47, M16, or if you are sniper, you can get a bolt action replica M-24 (that's what I have). Basically any mainstream military weapon that's in service (mp5, aug), or for the more gaming crowd, any CS weapon is replicated in airsoft form..

Sorry, it's pretty taboo to be advertising other sites. If you wanted a DISCUSSION on japanese candy, that would be acceptible. Thusly, I must close this thread.
-
I prefer Airsoft. Far less popular, but I feel a hell of alot more intimidating behind the sights of a replica M16 than I do some Paintball gun. Plus, I'm into tactical simulation. It's fairly difficult to accurately snipe in paintball, but the dynamics of Airsoft guns allow it far easier. I'm not talking AIR rifles, just Airsoft.
Originally posted by AutoKill Drix D'Zanth.... You just don?t get it do you. You are just a subject of human reasoning. Am sure that you have no clue what am talking about. Seeing that most Christians don?t have a original thought in their head.
"Am sure that you have no clue what am talking about." Of course I don't have a damn clue at what you're talking about when you can't even use simple pronouns. You're right, Christians believe god created this wonderful, intuitive human brain and expected us to NOT have any sort of origionality. That's why the God I belive with doesn't change as civilization and epochs move onward. That's why God gave us free will, so we aren't machines mindlessly following some indoctrine... I enjoy your ignorant generalization right after saying I don't get it... lovely.
Originally posted by AutoKill Every one is subject to curiosity. You can find this out just by looking at little kids. Their minds are growing and in this time they make complete thoughts in their head on how things work. If they see a bird flying they probably aren?t going to make the conclusion that the bird can fly b/c its bones are hollow and it has wings. (Not unless they were told by their parents are teachers) So they may think about this and say, ?The bird can fly because it?s small.? That is a example of human reasoning. Making a hypothesis from your own observations.
Birds don't fly because of hollow bones and wings... they fly because they hold antimatter in their gullet. What does human reasoning have to do with anything? You generalized before by calling the christians unorigional and "bible-beating", and I called you on it. Now you think I don't belive we are subject to our own hypothesis?
Originally posted by AutoKill So is it to hard to think that humans made up religion just out of stupid human reasoning. Greek mythology is full of examples. So what makes the bible so different? People just seem so mystified by the bible, that they think it?s so remarkable. Every one seems to think 2000 years people were stupid. I will give you another example. People did not know if the world was flat or round. If any one 2000 years ago happened to look up at the sky they would see that the moon and sun formed a circle. And then a person used shadows to prove that the earth was round.
Greek Mythology claimed that hydras existed, terrorizing the plains. Please don't compare the two, Christianity does have plenty of history to back it up. It's suprising to me that you, a person obviously untouched by the Holy Spirit, can justify God. People weren't stupid 2000 years ago, they just didn't have time to care about a bird's hollow bones when Moses was trying to save them from Egypt. Actually none of them could "prove" anything. They could hypothesize , but not prove. Until we went out into orbit and checked it out from there, did we ever truely know. Of course, this doesn't mean we didn't belive it untill then. Once again.. you're straying FAR off topic.
Originally posted by AutoKill The bible said that the world was round. The bible is full of these little things that prove to be right. So people go along with human reasoning at its the best. I image it would be hard to prove something wrong that has been added on to for 2000 years.
* I look at my bible* Where? Where does it say the earth is round? I saw 'round the earth... but nothing on that. Who's trying to prove the earth is flat? I know it was subject for quite a bit of tension back during the Renaissance... The bible is written by people touched by the Holy spirit. You can't really undestand anything about the Holy Spirit until you experience it. Otherwise, you are left to your own explinations of God, which always inevedibly fall short.
Originally posted by AutoKill Please Drix D?Zanth, try to give me a little more of a argument other then quoting every thing I say. You falter me to much by doing so.
You're exactly right. I falter you quite a bit.... Try this: I called you on some random and vauge comment, and you replied with heavy vitrolic that seemed inredibly offensive but was, quoting you, "to be funny." If this whole thing's a joke , why are you taking it so seriously? I'm not taking this thread as a joke in the first place, don't try and all me on that . Let's see.. then I call you on your severe lack of knowledge on the Bible and you argue that humanity has a natural reasoning? I know that human reasoning is everywhere, who's to say it contradicts God? Apparently you, despite the fact it describes the human mind throughouht the Bible.... Then you continue to rip the topic away from it's source by spewing some random fact like "the earth is round" and saying the Bible proves it.... right. I don't need to post an argument as I agree with most of the people here as it is, I don't find the need to reply. As for you.. I think you provide more than enough idiocy to entertain me well enough here. From now on.. stay and argue on topic, stop trying to flame me on something you have absolutely no idea about. Ugh, now you've got me all hot and bothered.

Hmm.. my dog is diabetic. I give him insulin twice a day. You may just be a tad hypoglycemic at points.. is your diet fairly balanced? Do you eat on a regular basis? How many meals? I know you are in your later teens, judging from your picture... how many carbs do you have each day? Answering some of these questions would help, as you could just be a type two diabetic. This means it's just a dietary problem and could be remedied without insulin injection. I would, along with most people here, sincerely reccomend seeing a professional.
Originally posted by AutoKill I actually did that one while I was pondering over the subject topic. *Gives my self a cookie*
Ladies and Gentlemen, this is why I'm sarcastic, so I can read this.
Originally posted by AutoKill I made it "vague" to make people laugh. I would hope a good Christian church wouldn?t fall the to corruption of money and greed.... But when has that ever happened in history...:rotflmao:
You don't seem to understand. Jesus says, if you kill, you aren't Christian, you are detatched from god through your sin. If a Church is corrupt, it is no longer a church....
Originally posted by AutoKill The point of my post was to stress a point about how there is church and state. But the thing that angers me the most about Christians. Is their ever dying devotion to think that they have absolutely every thing right, and its their life work to save us non believers from going to hell.... Wait. you might say am being "vague" again. Only the Bible beating Christians do that.. Sorry
Your previous comment had pretty much nothing to do with "state"... right. So let me get this straight... You are pissed because someone doesn't want you to spend eternal torture and cares enough about you to offer salvation? That's pathetic. It's like telling a lifeguard to go screw himself AS you are drowning..... We've got everything laid out before us in the Bible and Holy spirit. Of course we think we're right, God's word is unchanging... What guidelines do you live by? No.. you weren't vauge this time, just mislead.
Originally posted by cloricus We don't have clubs, any one is welcome anywhere and there is no distinction between anyone. (Except hicks.) I don't see why you need clubs like this in the first place.
....Cloricus..*sighs* Why don't you think people need clubs? Do you know what clubs are for? Not to encourage being welcome or unwelcome to all social groups; but to allow a venue for people to enjoy something they have in common. Clubs allow people fairly easy acess to find friends, or peers that share the same interests instead of the man-hunt guess and check method to which we find ourselves in common with our friends (I know it took me a while knowing my friend before I found out he liked anime too). There's nothing wrong with clubs. As for the Caucasian club... well, I don't see how people can call it racist when there's a black union and latinos unicos in the same building. I don't have a problem with that. There's no offense towards african/latin/asian heritage, just a celebration of european heritage.
Originally posted by AutoKill This hole thing is just another way to get people back in the churches so they can have more people put money in the collection tray. ?Freedom of speech is one thing, but lets not speak to freaken loud.? -AutoKill
If you are going to critisize an opinion, or make your own, try to be at least a bit less vague. What evidenced do you have to support your claim? Sure christians want non-christians to go to church. I don't want anyone missing out on God. Money has nothing to do with it, in my opinion. The quote amuses me.. you must be so proud of yourself. I doubted it's origionality. But when I noticed you had spelled "let's" and "too" wrong, you conviced me.

Doukeshi---- Marcus stared deep into his progeny?s eyes, ?You shall? firstly control your hunger, resist the frenzy.. the beast? The word, beast. ?Soon you shall understand your nature, and embrace it like I have.? He rested his hand on your shoulder feeling your anxciousness, ? I must teach you the seven traditions that accord our law, then I shall show you to the select members of our clan. Your art shall forever live on, young one, forever? now we must meet the more important members of the Toreador.? He let the name of his Vampiric clan hang in the air like a red ribbon adorning a trophy, pride shining in his eyes. His smile dazzled you, as he took your hand and led you toward a side room. Inside sat a young man, not much younger than yourself, looking up obviously uneasy. Marcus whispers, ?Now about that hunger?? Adahn---- OOC: Because you are so recently embraced I have to roll to see if you frenzy? so just tell me what you want to roll instead of what will happen if you succeed or fail. I?ll describe what happens during the varied degrees of success. But I appreciate your initiative. Also, since you?ve only seen a hint of obfuscate, I?m going to have to roll an intelligence, self-control, or in the least scenario, willpower to see if you can even figure out the disciplines. Although they are fairly intuitive, disciplines aren?t usually ?fired from the hip?. Oh, and since we are talking about disciplines in general, and not just Adahn here, remember if you know the discipline name put it (in parentheses) or [brackets], this just preserves the mood. This is more general to everyone. So Adahn, I?m going to first roll self control, then if you succeed let you try your obfuscate at an increased difficulty because you aren?t experienced in it. IC: [Rolled 3 successes on self control, no frenzy] The urge to immediately feed is quickly satiated by your mind, you push back the tribulations of your heart, forcing yourself to hold-back. [ 2 successes on intelligence, +1 diff on mask roll, rolled 2 successes on mask] As the urge floods over you to hide your appearance you suddenly attune to your Vampiric abilities .. feeling the cool sharp pain of blood being used, you invoke a deep, almost arcane intrinsic power within you. Slowy your debauched hands begin to mend their wounds, and your face takes upon a separate visage, you take on some of your foreign appearance, only slightly marred due to the imperfection of your skill? [You put it well enough with what you posted ?1 blood point from using discipline] He then smiled at the woman, saying, "Ah, yes, I do believe I saw someone like him recently. Come, I will show you where." He held his arm out gracefully, beckoning her to lead the way out of the room. As she turned out, saying, "Thank ya, I can't wait to get my hands on him!" Gristle made an "ok" sign to his back, where he knew his sire was hidden, and walked out the door, closing it behind him. Gristle followed her out of the hall until she was about 10 feet ahead of the door, at which time he crept up behind her, lightly sinking his fangs into her neck. He only let a small amount of the sweet nectar run into him before licking the tiny wound shut. The woman was euphoric for a moment, and when she realized she had just gotten a very pleasurable kiss, her cheeks took on a hint of crimson, and her full-armed slap caught Gristle in the face. Gristle turned his head with the blow so as not to give up his disguise, and watched her storm away. Gristle turned back to the door letting a bit of the blood he had kept in a pocket in his cheek dribble down his face before entering the room. The creature said, "Well?" Gristle let down the mask and grinned, replying, "Well, what do you think?" Gristle then began to laugh, hoping his companion would join in his mirth. The darkened form crept towards you a bit.. eyebrow raised with significant suspicion, ?You kill with such ease? no guilt?? He smiles down at the crumpled body before him, ?Such a thing of beauty.. so fragile.? Grinning with similar delight he implores, ?You will come with me,? looking at a battered watch, ?Time?s a wastin? kid.? DouMax---------- The bartender eyes you over, ?I can?t believe it? you ain?t come here before have you?? You stare at him, uttering, ?No.. why?? He just smiles, his fat cheeks rumbling a bit, ?Holy ****, you just walked into the wroooong bar, you better follow me.? Gesturing commandingly to follow him, he walks towards the side of the bar opening the small door behind it, gesturing to a large door behind him, ?You should come now?? His eyes held a callous expression, cold? viscous.

Heh, broke my own rule. Sorry bout not posting yesterday.. LOOONG day. Doukeshi---- Marcus takes Jerith?s wrist, letting it face heaven. He smiles down upon him, as the Beast must smile upon the Fallen. With whim-less grace, Marcus? teeth glide towards your beating harm; you can feel his minty breath caressing the soft pulse. Slowly his teeth grow, enameled knives almost greeting your flesh with divine welcome. Plunging into your soft skin, the crimson evacuates its beating holdings, fluid racing down your arm. Only the vampire?s lips captured the descent. He stared at you fiendishly, unchanging as you felt the center of your being drawn to him. The initial pain juxtaposed against an immense fiery passion. His eyes glowed, like a stained glass window held to the sun, sparkling towards you? nearly tingeing his own features with their unholy light. The world turned black for a moment, your vision started to tunnel, the lightheaded sensation taking over your consciousness. The world slowed down.. you could see his veins bulge, blue, his eyes taking a bit of red flashing with a layer of blood before resuming their normal light. You saw your hand, frighteningly pale, until it writhed with it?s own ephemeral consciousness. Then you died, in the throws of your agony, your heart stopped, your breathing became superficial. As his blood trickled down your throat, your thoughts remained on it until it became the singularity. You lusted for the blood, as you writhed, feeling the change within your body. You felt all of your muscles fail, your veins no longer beat, and you let a deep sigh, your last human breath. ?What?..,? As you spoke again, your voice felt formless? disconnected. You felt the lusting; more of the precious vitae would be calling to you. ?Deus..? He sighed, staring at the creature that was born before him, ?You will now know me as Marcus Belial, your sire. I am your maker, I will now teach you the nights secrets.? You.. still concerned in your change, ignored him a bit. ? I pray you heed well, for the first lesson shall be the most important. This is what keeps our kind alive,? Marcus eyed you, ?I know your predicament, so this first of the seven Traditions shall be easy for you: no human may know what you are unless they are to be turned or killed. You will maintain our masquerade like any of us? you must obey this commandment.? Marcus stroked his cheek, waiting calmly for a response, ?Perhaps I?m rushing you?. Do you have any questions before we begin your learning?? Adahn------ The scent was soon overwhelmed by a sound. A heartbeat? it rang through your consciousness, sending your eyes reeling in conflict. You felt the constriction of your soul again. It was at this point.. she entered. ?Show the beautiful what they must know??, the terrifying monster stared at you, ?.. be quick.? He seemed to disappear in the shadows, silently, without effort. Somehow, you could still feel his presence. The woman was black, and fairly pretty. She carried herself with grace, and confidence striding into the room, ?Dante? Dante, you in heah?? She spoke, her words forceful. She looked at you crumpled in the corner.. the shadow. ?Hello? You seen a man about this high walk by? Cornrows? I been lookin for the bastard all day ..? Her hand gestures the postulated height, and as you look towards it, your only focus is on the pulsing flesh, the beating veins, and the orgasmic stench that wafted from her living fluid?. (what do you do?) DuoMax_----- You enter a bar, the Rusty Nail, or some vulgar incantation similar. The smoke dimmed room only helped accentuate the poor lighting, green pool-table lights cast an alien glow from one side of the room. Music is playing loudly to one side, and the constant husky speech of disgruntled drunks ebbed its way over the white noise. The seat you sat in groaned like the same Corinthian leather during the court case, just thinking about it seemed to induce nausea. The bartender stared at you, then your suit, ?Uhh? What can I do for you, sir?? The sir seemed to stick, sarcastically; he gave you a smirk before polishing a glass. The bartender looked in his thirties, fat, but muscled. His double chin jiggled a bit as he talked to you. Black flame tattoos encroached their way down his arm and partially bare chest like ivy. Seeing your disheveled appearance he sets the glass down, ? Off the tap tonight??
