I hope you realize that Poetry.com is basically one big scam. Tons of people enter, tons of people "win", and they all win the same thing, their poem published in some book you pay $50 for. My friends have done it. They promise you money, and all you get is your poem sold back to you in a stupid book. Doesn't sound so rewarding if you ask me.

Anime Church people saying anime is demonic and that it will poison our minds...
Fyxe replied to a topic in Otaku Central
Some people are a little too hardcore on the religion thing. Stay away from them. They get scary. But, the majority of the churches will be fine with the fact that you like anime, as long as you express your love for it in an appropriate manor. Saying that all people that go to church are all bad and bent on hating anime is a little extreme, don't you think? There are plenty of religious people that like it, too. I myself don't go to church, and I know why people don't take me. I'd probably stand up in the middle of a speech and start ranting about how the bloody hell could Mary still be a virgin. But, that's just me. Anywayyy... if I were you, I'd just talk to your teachers/principals about the situation. Maybe you can work something out, explain some things to them, etc. If they still say no over unreasonable things, totally go for revenge. Ha. But I'll leave what you do.. well... up to you. -
Ah, I love the CD "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge", I've had it basically since it came out. It really annoys me when people say that they suck because they are "Main Stream" and that they aren't a real band. Eh.. a lot of bands are "Main Stream", and last time I checked, it wasn't the end of the world for a band because they had a few music videos done. Anyway... I'm really sick of "I'm Not Okay... I Promise," too many people playing it, too many people acting like they are hardcore fans just because they've heard it. But I absolutely love the songs, "the Jetset Life is Gonna Kill You" and "Cemetery Drive," I guess those are some of their calmer songs. *shrugs* Not many people realize that they had a CD before this one. I haven't been able to buy it yet, with my shortage of money, but I will soon enough. I think one of the things that is really nice about them is that they are so dedicated to their fans. They aren't too stuck on themselves, which is always a definite plus. I tend to like bands that are more focused on their actual music and fans, instead of themselves.
Originally posted by AnimeFront Ah to me they are another wanna be Blink 182 band.
Uh... dude... they don't... sound like Blink 182... -__- Anyway, mmm, it totally helps that they have some hot people on board. I want a piece of Gerard Way(lead vocals) and that Frank fella. By the way, I hope you guys realize that Gerard just uses a lot of make-up... >> Lol.

Oh! Thank you so much! Hugs all around. ^.^ I'm glad you made this for me, no one really pays attention to the Claire anymore. Lol. Like I said, thanks a ton. I shall love thy banner. As the rules should go. Hee hee.

Tis lovely, Doc. Thanks a ton. It's so much better than my exrememly pixely banner I have at the moment. I ruined Raven. ;_; Anyway, the only thing is... that the picture of Larry to the far right looks... a tad out of place. I have a place where you can get tons of good pictures if you wouldn't mind changing it. Here are some good pictures I found: http://teentitans.toonzone.net/tt/reviews/x/29.jpg and http://teentitans.toonzone.net/tt/reviews/endpt2/05.jpg But here is just the website in general if it's any use to you: The World's Finest Well.. I'm completely fine with the banner. But if you have any time to make that change, that would be beyond awesome. Thanks again. ^_^ Edit: Damn, it won't let me use the avatar. That's what I get for having a dead computer. Come back alive, old friend! ;_;

Ah, I am being deprived of a computer and Photoshop right now, and I am dying to have a banner change. So I am turning to you folks. I would absolutely love a Robin banner. (The one from Teen Titans, of course, you silly ducks.) Anyway, yes, a Robin banner. I'm not being too specific on it. I want to be surprised and amazed... I know you guys can do it. No text. I feel it would ruin it. Perhaps. Ah, yes, a matching avatar would be great too. So, if there are any volunteers, you know my request... and good luck... and thanks ahead of time. -Lix

Bush Begins Crackdown on Internet Freedom - Starting with Porn!
Fyxe replied to Lafleur's topic in General Discussion
We should all become nudists. Then there would be so much nudity in the world, that pornography would be considered as something you would just see everywhere... no matter your age. Then it would be pointless to ban it on the internet. Ha. I knew an issue like this would come up some time. But in all honesty, I don't think there is much Bush and our government can do about it. It would take the work of all the world leaders to tackle something such as banning porn sites off the internet. With Bush's power, he can only ban so much. This is one of those things that is just even a stupid thing to waste your time on. Our dear president is biting off more than he can chew.
Originally Posted by Sage I still can't get over the fact that American government and officials - almost the whole society - thinks that nudity, homosexuality and pornography are something much more worse than violence, crime and guns!
Yeah, I never quite got that. It's like, so much more shocking and sinful if you're kid turns out to be homosexual, than if they go shoot someone. Well, to a lot of people anyway. Since a lot of people have been more open about being a nudist or homosexual, you'd think more people would get used to it and accept it. But I guess that will never be the case. Some people.... *shakes head* -
:O I still love Gwen Stafani. I loved her in No Doubt, and I still oove her in her "Gone Solo" act. Let's face it, she's still got her same fabulous voice... she just has gone for the "Poppier" sound. I read in some interview with her that she just wanted to make a album you could dance to. I think she definitely completed that goal. I have her new CD, and I have to admit, some of the songs aren't my style... a little annoying, if you please. But most of the songs that they have on the radio and have made videos for, those are some of the more annoying songs on the CD, though I do like the song "Cool". But, otherwise, she has some great tracks on their. It may be somewhat different from No Doubts sound, but it's still a great sound... if you look at the real songs on their. Gwen Stafani is still a hot woman, not to mention with a hot sound. You just have to appreciate the changes, not shoot it down because it happened. And, plus, she still has the all around same style, just mixed up a tad. Though, I do hate the new croud she's attracted... but, whatever sells, goes, I guess. You have to admit, she's been getting a lot of money for these so-called changes, m'dears. As for me, I still love the woman, she's one of the few female celebrities I like. And I can't wait for her new album... which, by the way, comes out around Christmas... >>

I have a simple sounding last name... Jacobmeyer. But, it can get annoying sometimes in different situations. Like, sometimes, when people ask me my name I just say, "Claire Jacobmeyer." Then they look at me and say, "So, Claire Meyer..." (this happened at the library a lot.. a lot of smart librarians there, I tell ya.) Like they thought my middle name was Jacob... yeah... sure. Another thing... two of my best boy friends are John and Jacob... so... whenever the three of us would be around each other a few years back, some smartass kid would sing, "John, Jacob, Jacobmeyer Shmidt!" Or whatever. Yeah... But, there aren't many Jacobmeyers in the world... I think about 16 or something. So, we are a dying species. Help save the Jacobmeyers! >>

I'm an alright drawer... but a lot of times, everything I draw comes out as crap. It seems like when I'm not meaning to draw something good, it comes out decent, but if I actually try... it's not so great. I've discovered that I draw best with pens and marks for some reason. My graphic art skills are just somewhat above average, I guess. I've had my share of good and bad art. I've never quite mastered any particular style. I just love messing around with Photoshop and seeing what I come up with. Normally it's pretty decent, but that's depending on who's looking at it. As far as I know, writing is my greatest art skill... and it's one of the few things I enjoy. Right now I'm mainly practicing my form with fan fictions and such. But I have a good amount of actual stories I have bouncing around in my head. Alas, I must wait until I get my lap top before I can actually start writing those things. My sister is getting nasty towards me because I enjoy writing... and according to some awards I've collected... I'm pretty good. She fights with me about it, saying that it was her dream first. I don't know why she has to be so crazy about it, though. Because, a few months before, she told me she was proud. But now her views have totally changed. Well, that's just another episode of getting shot down by my older sister. Go figure.

Come on, what about the Cowboy Bebop sadness?
When Gren requested Spike to place him in the space ship and send him off to Titan...
that totally broke my heart... I couldn't stop bawling. And whenever I see that episode, I still cry my eyes out for at least fifteen minutes afterward. I'm such a dork, but I can't help it... I love him, he was one of my favorite characters.
And Spike too, you just had to be sad when he died... or you just didn't have a heart.
Lol.
Anime is considered nerdy or dorkish because there are people like me who go out and cosplay, and there are folks who spend loads of money on the little figurines, and do all sorts of other "nerdy" or "geeky" stuff.
Exactly. For one, a lot of people that are interested in anime are those who also spend a lot of time indoors, on the internet, role playing... and so on. So, naturally, by looking at just those so many people, others get the idea that all people who like anime act that way. Unless you like anime and you don't act that way yourself. But it's hard to convince other people that anime is not geeky. And we should just leave it. People who stand up and say, "Anime is NOT just for geeks!" People will just tend to think you are a geek unless you are uber popular or something... then you just make it worse. It is beyond me how some people are so dense like that, though. But it'll always happen, so we might as well get over it. Also, some anime IS childish because of this simple fact: it was designed for children. Anime such as Hamtaro, Digimon, Pokemon... that sort of stuff, was created with the younger audience in mind. So, that's why it seems childish. Obviously. And I will completely admit that I am a geek, and damn proud, might I add. I love anime conventions, love cosplay, love to RPG. And if anyone has a problem with that, then they can bite my meatballs. Simple as that. People that are really into something don't have to defend what they like, because they know that they like it and they don't care what others think about it. That's how I view it, anyway.

I don't think I've ever had any huge cliffhanger moments... and if I have, they have long been drained from my mind. Since sometimes a bunch of episodes will morph into one in my brain. But, Cowboy Bebop has always left me on the edge of my seat. Those two part episodes made me crazy. Such as at the end of Jupiter Jazz, part 1, the first time I saw that, I think I almost kicked my t.v. for having it end like that. This was when Adult Swim only had the episodes on every Saturday. But, I almost drove myself crazy that week because of that cliffhanger. Same with when I watched the Real Folk Blues, part 1. Again, I almost kicked my t.v. But, I think those are the only cliffhangers I've ever really freaked out about, with me loving Cowboy Bebop to death and such. It was aweful. Lol.

I'm not the best swimmer, but I can swim. If I need to keep myself floating, I can. I was aweful at swimming before this summer, I couldn't do freestyle or anything, only breast stroke and doggy paddle. But, with some help from my friend(she's like, a friggin' swimming machine) I've been able to get better. I think the reason why I couldn't swim was because of the fact that I never went swimming when I was younger, and I was never taught. So, when I finally needed the ability to swim, I wasn't used to it, and neither were my muscles. And since I'm not exactly a fit person(muscle wise), it tends to be a bit harder. Ah well, that's life, my dears.

I hate my house. Absobloodylutely hate it. It's almost one hundred ten years old or something. And it just freaks me out. Well, it does at night. Which is unfortunate, since I have this weirdo insomnia thingy case right now. Probably because of the damn house. I guess it's not so bad in my room, though. Anyway, my family has had some messed up things happen in the past, so, we all hate the bloody place. As for me, once I was sleeping downstairs on the couch because it was cool downstair(twas the summer), and I woke up a few minutes before four a.m. for some reason, and I was lying there, trying to fall back asleep. Well, the stairs to the second level of my house are in a hallway right in front of the living room, so you could see them clearly from where I was. Then I heard something in the kitchen, and naturally thought it was my cat, since he was a big fella. But then I heard footsteps and thought immediately about robbers. The footsteps went from the kicthen into the hall directly in front of me, but there was no one there. I definitely would have seen them since there was light from the street lamps. Well, the footsteps went up the stairs and stopped. I was terrified and turned on a light and played video games until someone got up. I was scared out of my wits. I won't sleep down there anymore. >> That experience sort of kept me freaked out for awhile. Another thing that bothers me is we have this HUGE window in our kitchen, and our cat managed to tear down the blinds for it, so, if you are out on the street or something, you can easily see us if the kicthen light is on at night, but we can't see out. And if I am in the sunroom at night, I have to go through the kicthen to go to bed. And I hate it. I always am paranoid about one of the MHI patients getting out or some weirdo looking in on us. Argh. And since we don't have very good locks on our doors, I am so dang paranoid about having someone break in and murder us in our sleep or something. >> I also hate under my bed and my closet for those same reason. Good hiding places for those kinda people. I think paranioa runs in my family, because my sister and I are about the most paranoid people I know. Bah. But that stuff mainly bugs me at night. For all those obvious reasons. I mean, I love night, I just hate all weirdos that come out and all the things that seem to happen at night. Eh. I wonder if I'll ever get over that stuff. I practically have to run everywhere at night in my house when no one else is up. Or I get the feeling I'm being watched, them I'm to freaked out to check. Lol.

I picked up last months issue of Edge magazine in Barns&Noble. The cover had a wonderfully illustrated picture of Link completely covering it, so that immediately grabbed my attention and I snagged it. The only copy they had left was the display issue, so they wouldn't let me buy it, but, I was still able to read part of the article about the up-coming game. I just can't believe the graphics, though. Just seeing the pictures they had in the magazine got me excited. This is what I gathered from the article: For the Twilight Princess, Link (aka, you) start off as a normal teenager working as a cowboy on a ranch. When you start, the first things you need to learn are horseback riding skills and so on. As you set off on your adventure, you master your skills and grow, exploring Hyrule. Now, as far as dialoge, Link will NOT be speaking. The makers of The Legend of Zelda are keeping the way Link expresses himself. Since you are supposed to BE Link, he does not say anything. However, I don't know if they are going to have other characters talk, or if they are keeping the way they normally talk. All I was clear on was that Link is not going to be speaking. Those are the main things I gathered, since it was a rather long article and I had no time to read it. If I can somehow get my hands on it, I'll make sure to post up more information. I, too, am disappointed in the delay. But I guess it doesn't reall matter, since I don't have a GameCude... I really need to get one of those. >>

I am quite a Do As Infinity fan myself. I'm not sure if you can find any of their CDs in many stores in America. Perhaps if you look in the Foriegn Music sections you'll have some luck. But if you want to save yourself A LOT of time, just go to Amazon. They have alll the CDs, and for pretty good prices. I think your best bet would be to log on their and have one of your parents buy them for you with their credit card. If you can't do that... then, either, take a chance in the Foriegn Music sections, or, you're jusy not getting them. Also, you can always use Limewire or Kazaa to download music, but since that is illegal, and the government is suing people that use those program every which way, you might not want to chance it. But there are always those systems that you can pay for so you can download songs legally. It's all up to you and what you think is easiest. That's all the help I can give you.

People think a lot of things I eat are strange. Such as: - Potato chips dipped in chocolate pudding - French fries dipped in ice cream - Cheeto and jelly sandwiches - Baked beans and cottage cheese mixed together - Oreo and peanut butter milkshakes I honestly don'y know what's strange about ANY of that. It's definitely not the worst I've heard of. Some people just throw everything in their kitchen into a blender and drink whatever freaked up thing they create. Compared to that, I'd say I have normal tastes. Besides, it's natural that salty things and sweet things go together. Most people like that. Such as the chips and pudding, ice cream and french fries and so on. As for the oddest bagel I've had, the three cheese and olive bagel would have to top them all. The three cheeses were Pepperjack, Swiss, and Cheddar. then you have the olives. *shudder* It was not a wonderful experience for me.

Two words: Field Hockey I love hockey, no matter how you slice it. Street hockey, field hockey... I would try my hand.. more like feet... at ice hockey, but I just don't have the "skills" to use ice skates. >> You can only really get me to run if I am involved in that sport. Well, unless I am trying to dodge my ever famous "Squirtle Attack" (being used against me by my friend John, of course...)... then I'll run, only because I don't feel like having sticky pop sprayed all over my clothes. ANYWAY... Yes, field hockey... it's a shame we don't have a field hockey team in my town, I would definitely sign up. It's the only sport I enjoy and try at. Otherwise, I stay inside, pouring over a story I am writing, or a book, or a computer, or a video game... you get the point. I guess I like swimming too, but the problem is, I can't really swim.

I am definitely a "for the moment" person. I hate to do work early, unless I really want to get something done. This mainly gets me in trouble at school. People tell me I'm a great student, but I need to do my work more often... heh, being "smart" and not doing your work is not a good combo. Then I always get swamped with all the make-up work I have and it drives me crazy. I don't even use my Study Halls wisely, I just sit there and throw things at people or read... when I have about ten things to do. Then I end up doing all my work at the last minute, like, five minutes before I need to go to school. Which isn't smart. This year I am going to try and make an effort to actually do my work on time and to my fullest potential.. okay, maybe that's too much to ask from me, but I'll still try more. There is always something that distracts me, like, "Oh... well... this worksheet is easy.. and I'm really close to completing that video game... oh hell, I'll do this later." That's basically my attitude to work. Ha. I think when I get a job, I'll work harder at that, since you don't have many things to distract you there, plus, it PAYS. >> If teachers paid you to do homework, I'd be more enthused.

Writing Warning! This thread contains unmarked spoilers!: Harry Potter, Book 6.
Fyxe replied to Sandy's topic in Creative Works

Dumbledore is a possibility, and so, I believe, is a completely new character. Think about it. All of the titles so far deal with people or things that are introduced in each book, respectively. Sorcerer's/Philosopher's stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix.. none were titles that take something from a previous book and slap it on this one. I'm not saying it will definitely be a new person, as you can see from what I've told you before, but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

Yes, I wasn't saying that it couldn't be a new character. But from the way J.K. Rowling has been putting it, the last two books are going to be digging deeper into the characters we already know. And because of that, I am assuming that the half-blood prince would be someone that's been in some of the books, atleast, already. But, at least Dagger has confirmed that it's not Tom Riddle, so, we can put him aside of the possibilities. At least we are going to get to know more about his past very soon.
Gosh, this thread is getting me even more riled up. XD Well, only about a day and a half left. Now all we have to do is get ready for those crazy midnight parties. To bad I don't have robes... but I can totally put on my Slytherin or Malfoy shirt. XD -
Bad news everyone. A major Half Blood Price leak has occured. 15 copies were accidentally sold in a Canadian store. Be very careful, because some people have been posting spoilers.
Yes, I heard about that. My friend said she had found that out, then researched the subject. Supposedly 14-15 copies can released to a few customers early Monday. I wonder what morons could "accidentally" release such a tensely anticipated book. But, the people who the books were released to, were threatened by some judge that if they told anybody what happened, they'd be sent to jail. Lol, I don't know if that's true... but, funny. That's what my friend told me. I wonder where she found that? News perhaps? Anyway.
Not Hargrid, you say? Well... so much for that. But there was some valid proof that it could have been him. I mean, he's a half Giant, half Wizard.... and he doesn't know anything about his mothers past. Not much anyway. But if J.K. Rowling says so, I guess we should believe her... after all, she is the author.
XD
Originally posted by Syk3 Rowling has already confirmed that it isn?t Harry, Voldemort, and certainly not Hagrid; it?s obviously a guy, and he has wizard blood from only one parent; lastly, she has said that Chamber of Secrets was such a big clue that the book almost had this title. I did a little looking around on the internet earlier, and I found one site that brings up an excellent point for a possible candidate.
If you recall in CoS, when Dobby was saying who would be terrorizing Hogwarts, he said it wasn?t ?he-who-must-not-be-named? but rather, we would find out later, Tom Riddle, before he had that title. If J.K. is going on the same sort of trick, then the rest would fit. Tom Riddle is both the heir of Slytherin and half blood, so maybe we?ll get more information about him and his background.

Hmm... I don't know...
If the half-blood prince isn't Voldemort, then how could it be Tom Riddle? If Tom was the half-blood prince, then Voldemort would be too. Since, obviously, they are the same person. Maybe J.K. Rowling was indicating something else from the book.
But, of course, we can't be sure until we read it for ourselves, now can we? I was discussing this with my older sister earlier, and she made a very good point:
What if it's Dumbledore? Since the man is so mysterious, who would suspect? Plus, we know basically nothing about his past. It could also be a new character, or so she said, but I found that very hard to agree with. J.K. Rowling wouldn't conjure a completey new character and slap on the title "Half-Blood Prince." I definitely think it's someone we've seen from book one.
As I talk further into this subject with people, the answers and points get stranger. Like this one,
someone said that it could be Hermione... and she just changed her sex... or will change her sex... etc.
Though it's amusing. I find it very unlikely. Lol. Ah! I was waiting for someone to start up this thread. I would have done it myself, if I had more access to a computer at the moment. As for me, I've been counting down the days since I got out of school. Right now it is currently four days, six hours, and 4 minutes... well, according to the time in which I am writing this. Unfortunately, I will not be able to get it at midnight, the moment it is released. For one, I didn't know I'd be at my father's when it would be released, so, I didn't reserve on at Barns&Noble. I would have been able to get a copy at home, since our town is rather small and not as many people would be there. Ah well, I can always get it for half price at Target on Saturday morning. That's what I did for OotP. Anyway, I honestly can't wait for it to come out. I didn't need to re-read the books to prepare for it to come out... because I re-read them at least twice a year anyway. >> Yeah, yeah, everyone knows that the Claire is a total HP geek. I do think that we haven't seen the last of our favorite big black dog, Sirius. And yes, Harry's whole angst stage was rather... annoying... but I guess you can't blame him. After all, he is a teenage boy... and with all the crap he has to put up with... I was waiting for him to finally start yelling at everybody. I'd also like to see a lot more of Draco. Heh, I'm definitely a hardcore fangirl when it comes to Draco Malfoy. But, J.K. Rowling doesn't always add the much needed growth of Draco. Sure, we see him making some snide remarks here and there. But I want more of a history behind him. Come on, he's Harry's schoolmate rival, you need to see how he grows, and give him a bit more history. I have another HP obsessed friend, and he always insists on having heated discussions on who the half-blood prince is. I've reasoned that it could be
Hagrid
, but everyone gets upset with me when I bring that up and explain my reasoning. Some people just simply say it's
Harry
, but that would be to obvious and dissappointing. I think J.K. Rowling can whip out better plot twists than that. But, we'll just have to see. I'll definitely be posting again once I read it. And trust me, I'll be shut up somewhere, reading, as soon as my fingertips brush against the spine. -
Anime Do you notice any comparisions between your favorite anime characters?
Fyxe replied to gaarasgirl90's topic in Otaku Central
Ehem, the reasons for these comparisons are... With the whole hair color thing... yes, a lot of anime characters have the same hair color. And a lot of people in the real world have the same hair color. Anime creators have different tastes, and yet, a lot of them like certian looks... and that look can be very common. Plus, there are only so many colors. And with the way characters act... normally animes have the typical stereotypes. The quiet person; the pessimistic person; the happy-go-lucky optimistic person; the clueless blonde/ditz; the short tempered/blunt person; the joker; the dark person... etc. Just all your normal stereotypes. There will normally be a lot of those in an anime, no matter whom the writter is, no matter where they are from... and so on. -
Exactly. Most people mainly want to have the comfort that there is someone up in the skies, watching down on us, taking care of us, and providing a miracle here and there. And fate and desiny work the same way. People want an excuse for why they are where they are, how they got there, and why their life is so great or why their life sucks to much. And so on. People tell me I am so blunt about these subjects, but, seriously... you can't just blame something, or hold something responsible for every move you make. But a lot of people like the secruity of that, so they continue believing in those things... or they were just taught to believe in those things. And yes, The Sims is a rather addicting game, though I prefer The Sims 2 so much more.
