1. Why do people enjoy anything they like? It's just your tastes, certain things attract you and that's that. Anime/manga are just another category to add to the world of tastes. Makes life a little less pointless. As for me, I don't really know how I got into anime. My first anime was Digimon and I'm proud to say so. I remember, when I was younger, racing home every day from school just to catch the newest episode at 4:00 on FOX. I never had cable, so it was really the only interesting thing (besides Power Rangers, of course) for a first/second grader to watch. When I was older and finally had access to cable, I stumbled across Toonami/Midnight Run and Adult Swim. Something about anime just captivated me. Sparked my interest. I really loved the artwork, not like your everyday animation and sloppy, nothing special American works. The story lines were something different, too. Then I got away from more of the "mainstream" stuff shown on Cartoon Network and found out how interesting, original, and mature some anime could be. With that I found manga, too. Which I found to be superior to most of the anime I'd watched before. Another thing I loved was the variety, I'm sure if everyone looked, they'd be able to find an anime series they enjoyed. I don't know. Anime is just... in my tastes. "Cult" you say? No, no. You want to know a cult? ... my Charlie the Unicorn followers. I regret ever showing that to ANYONE. Now, wherever I go... all I hear is... "Chaaaarrrrrrrllllliiiiiiiieeeeeeeee"... well, at least it's better than people quoting Harry Potter Puppet Pals. XD I hate cults. [/rant]
2. Even though anime takes up a huge chunk of my interests, I only really watch it on Saturday nights... mainly only Naruto and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. Unless I watch one of my DVDs or such. Now, if I had the Anime Network, I'm sure I'd be watching more than that. I could live without anime for awhile, it's no huge sacrifice to me, I suppose. But it'd be pointless for me, since I'm no addict. XP I think I'm more addicted to manga than anime, actually. *pets her manga collection*
3. I really need a vampire banner, haha. I've had the custom title as "Vampyre Love" for the past two months and I've yet failed to find a signature to match. Since I currently don't have Photoshop in my possession, I'm asking you talented souls to make me something. This is going to be a very open thing. I don't ask for much, and I don't have a picture for you to base it on (so... hopefully, you guys are willing to do a bit of hunting for my sake...). Basically, I want a banner that's approximately 400x80 pixels. Then, have two lovely vamps, if possible, on it.... (preferably girls... we all know it's better when it's lesbian vampires... XD but some hetersexual-ness is just as well. So, actually, it doesn't matter.) And, naturally, as it's vampires... a darker palette. Also, for text... either one of two things: "Vampyre Love" or my user name, but not both. So... uh... have fun. Wow, I think that's the oddest banner request I've EVER made. Good luck and thanks in advance. Well, that is, if anyone takes up this request. Which I hope you do. >> By the way, if you can't find any good picture of two vampire lovers, just having one on the banner is perfectly fine.
4. I'm going to go with jigglyness. There, me and Boo contradict you all. >> Why do I go with jigglyness? Because I can tell time went into it, and it just over-rides r2vq's piece overall, in my opinion. I really like the feeling of the whole thing. The red fades and mixes nicely with the tones of grey and white. It's a very smooth piece, I see no problems with distortion or cropping. The background letters and designs just heighten my interest and impression. Oh, and
5. XD (I use too many of those...) In the sixth panel of the most recent comic... the look on that woman's face... priceless. Haha. You had me worried, not posting any new ones for awhile. But, they are back. Whoo! Keep it up, my pirate friend.
6. Yes... a chat forum would sort of defeat the purpose of the quality of the OtakuBoards. Plus, when new members would join, see that certain chat forum, then they would more than likely assume the rest of the OB is accepting of that sort of... "format." I do, however, miss the old TheOtaku chat room. How many years has it been since they shut that down? Too long, I think. I had some good times back in that chat room, and I'd be game if they put up a new one.
7. Generally I lay on the couch and talk with my sister, light some candles. But that is when it's night. I also raid the fridge of spoilable items, so no food is wasted in the absence of power. One time I got out my hand-held Tetris game and just played it for three hours. Oh man, after that, every time I closed my eyes, all I could see were those little block clusters falling. It was even worse when I tried to fall asleep, because then the music played in the background. >.< Damn you, Tetris. XD
8. OOC: mushrumluvr, your posts seriously confuse me. When someone is somewhere else, according to your post, they are automatically in a new place. I... I'm not even going to go into it. Trying to decode all this shit is like being on a bad acid trip. So, sorry, I'm just ignoring that post. Besides, it sort of defeats the purpose of my whole being. Miloe doesn't run away when needed. >> And... Sazabi... who is Vincent? XD If you mean Char, then apparently you are mixing up him and a character from another RPG. Don't do that to me, it screws me up. Lol. ----------------------- After being forced out of control of Derrick, Miloe built up as much energy as she could, just to grab the cables to the machine. That machine had to be what was doing all this, it just had to. An electric current went through Char, throwing him back against the wall. Everyone was watching, Mika, Daemon, Derrick, and Miloe. Hoefully she hadn't killed him, she didn't want that on her record. Char got up, rubbing his head. "... Where the hell am I?" He asked. Mika and Derrick suddenly rounded on Miloe. "Look what you did!" Derrick said. "Trying to kill everyone else, now, huh? You little bitch!" Mika yelled. They lunged at her. "Daemon... Char...! Help me out!" Miloe yelped and she dodged them. "Help you with what...? Who are you?" Char demanded. Daemon pulled him up. "Shut up and just do as she says," Daemon replied. "... Daemon, you take Mika... I can't really deal with fire right now..." Miloe said while passing him, still a little shaky because of Char stirring up her memories. "Right."
9. Miloe was left feeling defeated, the bars Daemon had transmuted caging her in. Daemon and Char had been having a struggled conversation, clearly over her, but she was tuning it out. She was so tired. A swift movement, however, made her snap back to reality. The door a few feet away had opened, and Mika and Derrick had now joined the crowd. Mika seemed to be blaming Miloe for something. Trying to kill her? What? "Mika... don't.... don't believe them, please..." Miloe said desperately. "I should kill you..." Mika said, staring down at Miloe was hatred. "Witch." The flames were suddenly surrounding Miloe. Why did she have to know a fire conjurer? She huddled up into a ball, trying to block out the sight. She was trying hard to fight back the tears, the word 'witch' still echoing in her mind. The heat of the flames was on her back. Smoke was starting to fill her lung. No... don't want to die... gotta fight.... "Stop," Someone demanded. Derrick had pushed Mika's hands away from the bars. The fire had dispersed. "Why?" Mika nearly screeched. "We need her, we don't need her to have any injuries inflicted upon her. It would be a waste of good power," Derrick replied. He slipped his arm in through the bars, toward Miloe's trembling chin. He cupped his hand around her chin and brought her face forward. "Isn't that right, Miloe?" "... What do you want from me? What are you doing?... What the fuck is that?" She whispered, and pointed at Mika. In response, Mika kicked the bars. "FUCK YOU!" She screamed. "Let me kill her, Derrick." "No." He said firmly. He let his gaze fall back to Miloe. "You want to know what we are doing? Fine. I'll tell you, for you will be apart of this cause very soon. We, here at Serenity View... are restoring the power to mutants. Restoring the importance. For too long humans have belittled us, classified and treated us as freaks... when it's really them that are freaks. They are inferior. They deserve to be tortured for what they've done to us... all this time. Don't you agree?" "No. It's sick.... that's what it is. So.... you brainwash fellow mutants... to want to destroy humans? That's.... some pretty... pretty messed up shit." Miloe replied. Derrick smiled at her softly. "And that's exactly the reason why we must... 'brainwash', as you say, our fellow mutants. It's because of that exact attitude. You're next, Ms. Rouge," Derrick said silkily. Energy or no energy, this was her time. She had to do something. Miloe's hands flew to Derrick's wrists. Her arms melded with his. "I don't think so," Miloe said, pulling him closer to her through the bars. His eyes widened, realizing he was no longer in control of his arms. Miloe shoved herself through the bars and fused with him. Mika stepped back as Miloe swaggered toward her in Derrick's towering body. "Oh, shit... CHAR!!!" She screamed. "A little too late to call for backup, I think..." Miloe said. "Let's take Derrick's powers for a little joy ride." She held up his hand. Apparently she'd done something, because the shine in Mika's eyes were gone, they were clouded over. "I... I... I can't see!" Mika yelled. Miloe took this opportunity to run at Mika, whom was flailing her arms, blind as a bat. Miloe jabbed her in the neck, hard, then slammed her head into a nearby wall. She let Mika fall, unconscious. "I'll come back for you later," Miloe whispered, heading down the hall, still in complete control of Derrick.
10. Miloe stared at Daemon. So something had happened to him. To make him try to capture her. But... why did he care so much. She felt something slip, she was losing her concentration and it was getting harder to breathe correctly. No, no... just a little longer... Miloe begged. She couldn't lose her grip on Char now, information was valuable. But how was she supposed to pump Daemon without seeming suspicious? "Answer me, dude," Daemon said, waving his hand in front of Char's face. "Sorry. I don't know... I just, don't know...." "What kind of answer is that? What do you mean, you don't know? Aren't you supposed to be the brains of this operation.. or what?" Daemon replied. Daemon thought a moment. "... Are you going to do the same thing to Miloe as you did to Mika? With the... brainwashy thing? Or whatever the hell it was? Because... I don't... I don't want to see it..." "Brainwash?" Miloe suddenly said. Oh damn, she had let that slip. "Ummm. Yeah, or whatever it was..." Miloe felt Char fighting back now, fighting to regain control. She couldn't keep this up for too much longer. "Maybe... maybe we should go back to where Mika and the others are..." Miloe tried. "Others? Oh, you mean Derrick and them, okay. But what about Miloe?" "You said you didn't want to chase her... so... we'll let her get a head start, okay? Derrick and I can get her later. So you don't have to watch..." Miloe said. Jesus, she hoped she was saying the right things. Daemon started walking away. "I... I guess that'd be alright." He said. Miloe struggled to hold on, it was getting worse with every step. Daemon suddenly stopped. Miloe guessed this was where the others were. She couldn't take it any more. She exhaled sharply, falling back out of Char, colliding with the floor. She was sucking in air as if she had never breathed properly in her entire life. "... Miloe...?" Daemon asked, puzzled. There was a cough behind her and a raspy voice suddenly said, "Get her, dammit!" But she felt to weak to get up.
11. Something had grabbed onto her ankles and Miloe fell forward, hitting her chin on the tiled floor. She felt herself being dragged back. In her state of Fight or Flight, she could hardly hear what Daemon was saying. He didn't look like he was about to attack, but she didn't want to take her chances. She leapt up, ramming her knee into Daemon's stomach. Blood pounding in her ears, she ran again. But as soon as she was up again, she was being pulled into a dark area. A hand cupped over her mouth, she couldn't have screamed even if she had wanted to. "Be quiet or he'll hear you..." A husky voice came, right next to her ear. After Daemon ran past, Miloe was released and she spun around. It was Char. "What.... what are you doing? How am I supposed to know what you... what you're really up to?" Miloe asked feverishly. "Nothing. Why don't you trust me?" Char looked at her seriously. Miloe opened her mouth to speak, but took advantage of the moment. Taking a deep breath, Miloe leaned into Char. "What the hell do you think you're doi-," But his voice faded. Miloe was in and had taken control. She lifted his hand, flexed it, then let it drop back to his side. She made him walk out of the shadows. Daemon was turning the corner, back toward Char and Miloe. Miloe slipped Char's body into a defensive stance. "Char... what happened? I thought you grabbed Miloe." Daemon said, looking around. What? They had planned this? Miloe thought, but relaxed Char's body. She didn't want to seem suspicious. "I don't know. Somehow she escaped," Char's voice replied. "Shouldn't we go after her, then? Do you think she went back to her dorm?" Daemon said, coming closer. "Maybe, let's go see." Char's voice corresponding with the words Miloe was picking out. She had to think, what could she do to find out what was happening? Obviously Char had a lot to do with it. But how could she make this work? ------- Edit: OOC- Darn you, Sazabi... deleting your post. Oh well, see.. I'm good. I made both yours and tanukioh's posts work out. XD
12. OOC: mushrumluver, not to be mean, but you need to learn how to read. It would make everyone else's job a lot easier. ------------------- Still dizzy from the collision with the door, Miloe was laying on the ground. She pressed her palms into her eyes until she saw little neon bursts in her eyelids. She was getting a migrane. God, I could use a cigarette... She thought. As she pressed harder onto her eyes, short flashes of her past played in her mind. Witch. Demon. Go back to Hell. They were pushing her into the janitors closet. Away from sight, away from view. But the younger Miloe stayed silent. They locked her in, knocking down chemicals as they shoved her deeper into the room. Something had spilled and it got dark. Miloe couldn't breathe, couldn't see. She thought she was going to die. Half hour later, the janitor found her. "Mommy..." She choked. That was the only word she said all that year. Why was she rembering this? It was this school. Something wasn't right. It made her think of all the wrong things. Where were the students? It was so... silent. Serene. Suddenly Miloe bolted up. She had sworn she had heard her name. "... Miloe!... found... something... see!" She could only hear parts of it, echoing through the halls. It sounded strangely like... "Daemon?" Miloe whispered. She steadied herself and crept forward, the pain in her head forgotten. As she wandered closer to the calling and footsteps, she grew hesitant. Where had he gone? "Daemon?" She called out soflty in response. He suddenly came hurtling out of the hall to her left. He stopped short at her side. The way he looked at her was so bizarre. A chill ran down her spine. "Miloe." He said, giving her a weird little grin. "C'mere, I found something. It'll blow your mind." He fumbled for her hand, but she pulled back. "... Where were you all this time?" She demanded. "What do you mean? I've been here, of course!" "... What? But... you... you disappeared. Daemon... there is something... strange about this place." Miloe spoke carefully. "Strange? It seems like an average school to me. C'mon, I've got something to show you." "No..." "Miloe, c'mon, you can trust me." "I can't trust anyone, I learned that a long time ago," She replied firmly, taking a step back. "Sorry." Daemon looked down at his feet for a moment, then snapped his gaze back to her. "Then we'll have to do this the hard way." "W... what?" Miloe could hardly let out before he dipped down and placed his hand on the floor. She knew she was going to transmute something. And she didn't really want to find out what. Miloe ran. I knew it, I knew this place was odd... I wasn't just going crazy...
13. Miloe stared at Char. Something was wrong, she made some panicky motions with her hands. She ended up grabbing onto Mika's arm. "Yo, let go," She brushed Miloe off. "I'll go with you, I guess, Chad." "It's Char, like I said before..." "It makes no difference to me, you know?" Mika shrugged. "Mika..." Miloe whispered. "Okay, come on, then," Char said, leading Mika away. Miloe's feeble voice was ignored. "... Mika ..." She whispered again, more desperate. Panic was welling up inside her, she didn't want to be left alone. Yet, she didn't want to go anywhere unfamiliar. "MIKA!" Miloe yelled. Possibly for the first time in her life, she spoke clearly. The first time ever since her mom died. Mika and Char turned back around. Mika had an eyebrow raised. "What?" She sounded irritated. Miloe made a pathetic gesture with her arms. Mika snapped her fingers, flames leaping from them, an inch away from Miloe's face. Her eyes widened. "Bug off. Got it?" Miloe stepped back, the heat still on her face. Her hands flew up to her hair. Witch... She pivoted and ran down the hall. Had to get out of here. It was no better than back home. Witch... Miloe rammed into a door blindly and fell over. "Dammit..."
14. I recieved the first dubbed volume of Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok the other day as a belated birthday gift. I didn't really know what to expect, because I had never heard of it. When I read the box description, I was rather intrigued. I really like the idea of the use of Norse gods and a paranormal detective agency. Because, if you know me, you know my interest in Roman/Norse gods and, well, paranormal/sinister things. When I watched it, I enjoyed it, yet was bothered by a good number of things, too. From what I've heard from reviews, it's a really slow-paced anime. Now, I didn't exactly get that feel from the first four episodes. Yet, the "formatting" of the series somewhat... I don't know how to explain it... annoyed me. It seemed like everything was just thrown at me, and nothing was quiet explained. I realize that they don't really want to get into Loki's past in a hurry, but I felt the way the first four episodes were presented didn't really make it flow right. The introduction of many of the characters seemed a little sudden, too. Though, I must admit, I was very excited at the entrance of Heimdall. I can tell he'll be my favorite of the series. Throw in a bit of scandal. Heh. I love the idea of the whole paranormal thing, but I haven't really seen it show through so far, and that let me down a bit. From the summary and description, I was expecting more of a sinister and creepy edge. But, I never quite got that feeling. I can never seem to find a series that gives me that sinister and gothic feeling, you know? It's hard to find it displayed correctly. As for the characters, I have no problem with any of them besides Mayura. I really cringe at the way she acts, and it didn't help that the voice actress's portrayal simply rips at my eardrums. I wish that, for once, I could watch something that didn't have your typical, accident-prone, irritating, happy-go-lucky energetic high school girl. I get really sick of it, and Mayura is no exception for me. Loki, I completely adore him. Cute, intellegent, exhiled god. What not to love? The only thing is, his clothes absolutely reek of Zatch Bell for me. Also, when he summons his cresent staff thing... I am reminded heavily of the Sailor Moon transformation sequences. I was hoping that it wouldn't take place every single episode, but I think I'll have to bear with it, sadly. Don't even get me started on Heimdall. He is adorable. I love him already. Lol. As far as the animation, it's breathtaking. It's so crisp and just... lovely. I could hardly restrain myself from eating the collectors box when it was given to me. I've rarely seen an anime that has left that sort of affect on me animation-wise. I can only hope that the quality doesn't lessen as the show continues. When I first saw the opening and ending credits, I giggled with delight. Literally. The way it is all organized and shown, the music fits almpst perfectly. I wished that the show gave me tha same feel as the credits did. That was nothing short of amazing to me. Well, that's basically my analysis, first impression-wise. I'm overall very interested, but this show has yet to prove it's anything spectacular. I'm looking forward to getting the second volume, maybe it'll be even more promising. I'll continue to look for the darker tones, and I really want to see more of Loki's past. So, tell me my dear Otaku friends, have you seen Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok? What are your impressions? And is it worth it in the long run? I want to know.
15. "...Wait... what?" Miloe said faintly as Char and Mika walked away toward the west wing of the school. Pierrot had gone out to the school grounds, and Miloe didn't exactly know the rest of these people. All it looked like was a few scattered students here and there. She looked around at the others helplessly. It made her feel like she'd been the one left to babysit, or something. Scanning the small crowd for familiar faces, she chose a guy in a blue suit and a younger girl with biker shorts on. "Uh, what are we doing, exactly?" The girl asked as Miloe as they headed off for the east wing. "... Looking for a friend," Miloe replied, checking rooms here and there. "Well, I don't know about you two, but I have no idea who you are." The boy said, running his fingers through his hair. "... Miloe..." She replied distantly. "I'm Amithi," The girl said, her boots thudding against the floor. "I'm Ricky. Wild first day, huh?" "You can say that again," Amithi replied. "... Could you two... possibly.... shut up?" Miloe cut in, pushing her hair out of her face. From what she'd seen from Daemon so far, she knew he wasn't the type to pull a disappearing act. Something was seriously wrong, and Miloe had a feeling only Char knew what was up. It made her uneasy, because she had no idea what they were getting into.
16. Miloe had been wandering around the school grounds for the past two class periods, deciding to not go back to her room. It was too empty in there, she'd have to write herself a note. To decorate a bit more, or something. Besides, it was a nice day, and everyone else was off in their classes. So, it was pretty quiet. Miloe was almost surprised no teachers had caught her. Eyes closed, Miloe was sitting on a bench. On habit she reached into her pocket, grabbing a loose cigarette. She put it in her mouth, but didn't have a lighter. Lighters and matches were something she didn't like to have around anymore. "Need a light?" A voice intruded her thought. She opened her eyes. A girl was standing in front of her. The girl held out her hand and snapped her middle finger to her thumb. A small flame shot up. Eyebrow arched, Miloe shrugged then bent the cigarette to the flame. As soon as the tip was lit, the girl shook her hand, the flame going out. "... Thanks," Miloe muttered out the side of her mouth before taking a drag. "I'm Mika, by the way. You cutting sports, too?" She said, sitting down on the bench by Miloe. Miloe nodded in reply. She was almost getting irritated by how many people were paying attention to her. It was a weird feeling. "When I saw you earlier, you didn't look like the smoking type." "... Bad habit," Miloe replied, inhaling again. The two fell silent for awhile. Miloe liked the quiet better, enjoying the rest of her cigarette. The bell rang in the distance. "Great, here comes everyone else." Mika said, sighing. Miloe just shrugged and let her cigarette butt fall to the ground. She stepped on it with her boot. As students spilled out from the sport fields, Miloe spotted a figure moving toward her and Mika. "Hey, Miloe, Fire chick!" It was Char. He seemed to be in a hurry. "You know, I do have a name," Mika said hotly. Char put his hands up. "Woah, sorry... so.. you are..?" "Mika." "Anyway, you guys have to help me. Something's up, and Daemon is in the middle of it. He was dragged off somewhere..." Char explained. "Why does it matter to me? I don't even know this Daemon kid." Mika cut in, picking at her finger nails. "Fine. Then, Miloe. At least you come with me." Char dragged Miloe away from Mika and started in the other direction. "Oh fuck. Fine." Mika followed the two, hands behind her head.
17. OOC: Oh noes, poor neglected Serenity View. Let's not let this die so soon, deal? ---------------------------- Miloe's foods class was refreshing. She had done all the cooking back at home, so she had skills when it came to the kitchen. They didn't do much in class, mainly went over safety rules and so forth, but it had been enough to make her excited for tomorrow's class. After foods, Miloe decided to skip her last two classes: Math and Field Hockey. She didn't feel like dealing with numbers and symbols flowing pointlessly in her brain, and physical fitness had always been on the shaky side with her. Though she enjoyed Field Hockey, she couldn't bring herself to run today. And with that, she hurried off toward her dorm room, planning to enjoy the rest of her afternoon curled up on her bed.
18. Damn you, Gavin. Tempting me with Oblivion pictures. >.< Anyway, on with the caption.... Corpse: Rhett! I only know that I love you. Guy holding torch: That's your misfortune. Corpse: But, Rhett! If you go... where shall I go, what shall I do? Guy holding torch: Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn. I don't know why that made me think of Gone With the Wind. It just did. And I know it's not funny, but I don't care. XD
19.
Know true love for a year ? Or Know friendship for a lifetime ?
Know friendship for a lifetime, definitely. I have a hard time staying with friends, geting close to people can make me uneasy, because I know one day I'll be left behind anyway. Being in a romantic relationship with someone just doesn't appeal to me at the moment, and I'd much rather be able to have at least one person I have has a friend for my entire life. One person I can count on, and not be afriad of them hating me one day. I think that would be a true lift of burden for me. Be in a life or death situation only once, momentarily, having no idea what to do? Or Always be in a life or death situation, knowing how to handle it?
20. For blood and empire ? malla ssla Hint: An "action figure" I made up for myself awhile ago. If you can't figure it out, I will guide you to the ever-useful OB Search. But, I think it's fairly easy.
21. Done. You have a Cuban cigar. However, after you have enjoyed it, you somehow find out how you obtained it. It was a Black Market Cuban cigar. That's right. BLACK MARKET. And, investigating further, you trace the person who was, err... 'distributing' these cigars. You find out the makers of this type of cigar has the main ingredient of, oh noes, Cuban children. Good job. You smoked a Cuban child. Now you wonder why you ever investigated at all. (Why? Because I told you to.) I wish I owned the Cookie Monster. So we could make sweet cookies.
22. Wheatus - Too Soon Monsoon: It took me forever to find a Wheatus CD... and I finally got one...! That was enough to make me happy. I went to a rather eccentric store in Minesota called "The Electric Fetus." It had 'stoner store' written all over it. XD But, yes. I really love this CD, I listen to it almost every day. I'm so glad I can finally be together with music that counts. Lol. So, am I glad I spent $14 on it? Hell yes.
23.
But in all seriousness, don't you think vengeful spirits have better things to do than wait around inside of bathroom mirrors? ...and even if they didn't, why on earth would you want to lure one out?
Exactly. I would rather keep them there. I hate mirrors enough as it is. Lol. Besides, I'd rather... not get scratched. My cat already does that for me. What is "Bloody Mary" supposed to do anyway? Besides have you ogle her?
24. XD Sara, you are my hero. I, personally, have never tried it (for I am assuming you mean the whole mirror-spirit-thing). And I don't know how that whole thing got started anyway. Why would Queen Mary show up in my mirror?
