1.
Trigun was supposed to be funny like that. Its far more light than Bebop. Its more action, while Bebop is smooth. I'm not sure which I like better although I'm leaning towards Bebop.
I think they pulled that off in the first bunch of episodes, but the last half got kinda serious and didn't seem right. Bebop pulled off the serious vs. funny thing a lot better. Sometimes when shows have episodes that you can watch non-sequentially it gets dull because they are repetitive, but all of CB's episodes were very different. I think they did just as good a job making the mushroom episode funny as they did making Pierrot scary and sad.
2. The Acne-clad guy at the videogame store said that this game was coming out tomorrow (10/12/04), so i thought I'd pop in this post so It'd spring back off page 3. I think semjaza has managed to cover all information about the game itself in previous posts, and it does sound like a lot of fun. When someone has actually played it or seen a good review, I encourage you to post about it.
3.
However, I did find Vicious a bit underwhelming as a villain. I mean, he's good and he fits in with the series and everything, but ... I guess I just can't help comparing him to Trigun's Legato Bluesummers because they look so similar, and out of the two, Legato is the better, more sinister, more manipulative villain.
I totally disagree with that, there isn't a single recorded second of Trigun that is better than Cowboy bebop. The whole crowd of villians in Trigun were so cheesy, you just can't take them seriously. How many times in anime can you stand there being the 7 demons, or sinister 12, or whatever they always call the group of bad guys that come one at a time, each with some specific skill. Same thing in Outlaw Star and Ninja Scroll, Trigun...it gets so old. Legato was supposed to be the scary serious one but it was weak. The whole thing of trying to get him to kill was weak. If vash was a vegetarian would he have snuck beef into his food to get to him?
4.
I find it funny how you go and say punk rock is dead when really, it's still alive, only hard to find. Ever heard of the germs? Adolescents? The Briefs? Riot 99? TSOL? Anti Nowhere league? Like...god...open your eyes, and SEARCH for punk, rather than dismiss it as dead because you can't find any real punk. Punk has just become popular is all. Deal with it. There are thousands of people out their who agree with you, and I am one of them, but punk is not DEAD. Thats a very bold and FINAL statement. As for goodcharlotte and those idiots, don't mind them, they're doing what they love...playing music. If anyone thinks they're punk, astleast you're their to correct them, and show them real bands...AKA Misfits.
Exactly, Punk music is probably way better off now since the pop-punk is mainstream. Its cheesy and generic, and popular and argueably not even punk music at all. Punk music is alive with indie bands and local music scenes, which makes more sense anyway. Everyone agree's that its not all about band T-shirts, so "punk" music can now make a return to being a scene based more on live shows, crappy demo tapes and vinyls. Only major record label punk is dead, and thank god for that.
5. I think its just best for me to not have any idea what goes on here. I've been on OB for a while but don't have close relationships with anyone, and none of my real friends go here. I'm not really even sure who the popular or important members are besides a couple of mods and James (obviously). A few people I will remember, like wrist cutter because he's a Japanese music buff but I have little insight. It does make sense that people would want to do the RPG's with their friends though, internet or real.
6.
Oakland Raiders 0-1 :( The Pats beat Indy, does anyone consider that a portent of things to come? Lets rock and Roll baby!
Well your raiders didn't look very good against my Bills (Oh why do I follow them) but luckily for them they were playing the Bills or they would have lost. Buffalo is realy a cruel team to love, because you look at them and think that they should be a really good team, especially with a killer defense but they end up sucking it up all the time. Whenever things start looking good they throw an inteception or fumble in the red zone or Bledsoe gets sacked (his favorite pastime). I think since I live in Oregon now I'm going to get more into the Seahawks (closest pro team).
7. They're playing ads for it on TV here, but it didn't come out on last friday. I hope that it will relatively soon so I don't have to drive to Portland or something. I'm definitely planning on seeing it, the first movie was one of the forst anime's I had ever seen. I haven't watched the anime TV series yet, but its on my Netflix list so it'll come eventually. Its funny that this movie is supposed to be more philosophical then the last, I wonder if its worse than the second comic (manga). I read that issue by issue when it was coming out and it was super hard to understand. Especially reading parts of it at a time. I guess Shirow's style is pretty much crazy confusing plot and a lot of crotch-shots but I can't really understand why its good. I like it, but I don't know why exactly.
8. My most recent experience in this line of thought was Final Fantasy 11. I was really excited to try it out and I did really like the game at first. It was also the first online game I've ever played so meeting people and working with them was novel and interesting. I think I made it to Level 25 before the love was lost. The problem with the game is that all most people want to do ever is level their character. The best way to do that is to go to a specific map and fight a particular monster over and over again to get EXP. This is all fine and good for a while, but what I found myself doing mostly was log on, spend an hour trying to join a party of 5 or 6 people, then killing crabs repeatedly (or something like that). The thing is though, you level to 18 then get your subjob. Then you level your subjob, then you level your main character up to 30 and try to get an advanced job. Blah, blah, blah... Really You spend hours and hours gaining just one level, not exploring and not advancing the story. I finally got fed up with it and just never played anymore. Its funny but it took me a week of drudgery to give up completely because there's the hope of getting powerful and whatnot. I don't know why I put myself through that much tediousness.
9. Thankfully Rudy isn't in power anymore, I never liked him. My impression of him was always as a power addicted mayor. I guess that immediately draws the same comparasins, though some of the examples are interesting and some are silly. I think that there are a few types of people in power (government) that are drawn to it and seem alike in that manner. On another note, back when I was recording with my band (former) the producer had a big box of porno mags in his booth, including the magazine Oui. A local band named themselves Oui 73 based on the french porn from 1973. Is that the same magazine? :D
10. Its not unheard of, my eyes range from grey to blue to green. Granted I don't look at them much, but they can change for whatever reason. I'm pretty sure its not just perception or light effects, although that would certainly make a difference. I never tried to pay attention to see if anything changes with mood. I could imagine that the iris maight be able to change color a little. Since the color that you see is the color that is reflected and not absorbed. Some change in body chemistry might have an effect on your iris and change some chemical process to alter the absorbed light. This is all speculation and I haven't looked it up at all but it seems possible.
11. Well really I'm just happy that its coming out. Advent children is a big tease because I wish that it was a game and not a movie. The movie looks really cool and all, but I'd rather be able to play it and see the CGI as cut scenes. Then they release a Turks based game but only on cell phones! Urghh! So this is in a way what we all have wanted, a FF7 game based off a cool character from the series. He's got guns and can turn into monsters so that if done right are cool gameplay options. I think it'll be good, but the reviews will let us know. In the mean time I'll be waiting for more screen captures.
12. Nope, you're right about it. I saw it for some reason and enjoyed it in its pointlessness. There is virtually no character development, and its an actionfest with virtually no scares. They reuse the same tactics like having a zombie get shot that you didn't see to make it look like the characters are shooting at each other. That and having zombies facing away from the screen so you can't tell if they're alive or not. It has a few neat homages to the game, but although I liked it in a brainless fashion, I wouldn't recommend it to anybody.
13. It looks and sounds good, but you never really know until the game comes out and people start playing it. You and PSM will be my Guinea pigs Semjaza.
14. I can't really think of a RPG I liked better than FF7, even though its not the greatest thing ever. It just has a great mix of characters, involving story and enough freedom to roam around and find places on the map you don't necessarily need to go to. The minigames like snowboarding and the motorcycles races are a lot of fun and the levelbuilding with materia is kinda addicting too. It all adds up pretty well. I think the Onimusha series is overrated. Why in the world they decided to use the Resident evil control scheme in a more action oriented game is beyond me. Movement is so clunky that it just wasn't worth playing. Resident evil falls in along those same lines with me. The series was great on PSone, but its fallen into too many tricks to get you. While I liked RE: zero I was playing the Gamecube remake of the first RE, and it angered me so much I had to quit. Instead of making it clever and scary, they give you such evil camera angles that you can't see whats right in front of you sometimes. It makes walking around the mansion so difficult that I had to check the map to see what direction I was facing every 30 seconds. Its just to frustrating to be fun.
15. Ebay is fantastic. I have had very few problems as a buyer and a seller on ebay by just paying attention to the people I deal with. Sellers that change their name a lot or have just started are to be avoided. One time a kid bought something from me and never responded til 2 weeks later he said he was grounded. Ebay is also not as good as it used to be. Since it exploded, there are more sellers just looking to make oney rather than unload stuff that they don't want. People sell things at cost and it basically ruins the idea of an auction. I think 90% of the auctions I look at are like that now and it takes the fun and value out of it.
16. The latest run of Superman with Azzarello as writer is the only superman that is worth anything currently in my opinion (comics). It pretty much deals with Superman's omnipotence and his decision making; like is his help always desired and is he making the right decisions stopping a war between nations. Anyway its really well written besides my terrible interpretation. I imagine the movie will eventually come out and I hope it deals with superman's powers well. X-men can easily survive the loss of a few actors. Berry didn't really add that much to the movie so I think that she can either be replaced of just write Storm out of the movie. X-men has a ton of great characters to use anyway. I'd personally like to see her replaced because she's overrated. Batman is going to be the real movie to watch when that manages to make it out.
17. I'm guessing that he's trying to regain his credibility to the people who loved clerks/mallrats and such. He got popular for his weird 20's age characters in Clerks and Mallrats (great movies) and then started to descend into more dramatic movies rather than comedies. Maybe it will get people to start going to his movies again after Jersey Girl. Personally I would have been happier if the cartoon series came back instead of the weird sequel, but it might just be really funny and regain our faith in K. Smith's movies.
18. 1. Beast Wars Transformers 2. the Simpsons 3. Batman TAS 4. Invader Zim 5. Family Guy 6. Futurama 7. Transformers (original series) 8. GI JOE 9. Aqua teen hunger force 10. Batman Beyond I had to put the simpsons in second place because the last five years or so have been unwatchably bad. They basically took the funniest show ever and completely ruined it. Beast Wars is the best Transformers show they ever made, even if the toy and character designs were weaker. All of the TF shows since beast wars/machines ended have been a huge step down (I blame the Japanese). Batman is fantastic, Bruce Timm is pretty good at superhero shows as he has proven with this show and everythiong that came later. Invader Zim deserves to rank up there, but I have no idea why it was on Nickelodeon...which killed it. Family Guy and futurama are pretty even. Futurama has better characters and overall is better except that Family guy just had some of the funniest shows out of any cartoon so maybe edges it out. The Original TF's and GI JOE were the pinacle of action cartoons with cool characters. The animation for the most part holds up watching it today, and so far there haven't been many new cartoons to match them. ATHF deserves mention simply because it is insane, and they've improved it a lot since the beginning when it wasn't really very smooth or funny. Batman Beyond I really liked, in spite of the horrible concept of making a teenage batman from the future. They pulled it off and created some cool characters in the process. The Return of the Joker movie which ended up killing the show was fantastic and evil.

What console is this for?
20.
What Aqua teen hunger force character do you think your like??? Why do you think you are like them??? :tasty: I know who I am like... Master Shake, why because I'm kind of bossy and don't really care what people are doing unless it involves me or my stuff, and I have a chair that I like to sit in and I always get mad if someone sits in it and I always say "Dont sit in my chair!!" :D
If any of you are like these characters...then you are the most messed up people in the world and should probably be institutionalized. Don't buy your friends a snake and pretend like its a bunny! You WILL go to jail.
21. I've always kinda liked Bad Religion, but never have owned any of their albums. A few months back though I borrowed 6 or 7 CD's of BR from my pal and decided that they are really good driving music. Unfortunately thats about it for me, I probably won't hear their new album until my friend buys it and just listen to it in the lab. To this day it will make me sad to see them open up for more popular cheese-punk bands though. Blink 182/Bad Religion tour was damn scary.
22. Honestly I'm going to just go out and buy Final Fantasy 12 when it comes out, and not pay too much attention to these other games. I think I might have room to play one other RPG but I'm not sure which one. I may just have to give it to Tales of Symphonia (Gamecube) simply so that I can use my GC, which has been pretty good as a dust collector lately. I think I would skip the Megaman RPG in favor of the Megaman Legends set and just play the old games. I think they should give up on megaman games because they really haven't been that great ever. I'm sure they never will because the series has a lot of hardcore fans, but just maybe they should let it die.
23. A US/Japan one would be cool for anime nerds in general. How many region numbers are there? Does Europe have a seperate one? I happen to know first hand now about how expensive it is to ship to the states now, cost me 60 bones to ship a box of toys and stuff from my vacation in Japan. I can't wait for my Japanese t-shirt with the Famicom system on it (Japanese NES). I also got two little pins with controllers on them :) Do you/anyone have one of those all region players? Do they work well with few hiccups? Thanks
24. I have a pretty decent understanding of region codes on DVD's, but what it amounts to for me is the inability of my PS2 to play region 2 DVD's (from Japan). I was 99% sure they wouldn't work on my PS2, but I'm also in the market for a true DVD player. Does anyone know a good DVD player that can play region 1 and 2 DVD's? I know of one guy who had one but it he bought it fairly early in the days of DVD's and I'm not sure if they still exist or not. I'm not really into modifying my PS2 or anything, but maybe someone knows of such a player or a good internet resource for finding one? side note: I almost bought a Japanese PS2 which would have worked but I wasn't sure it was worth it to play import games w/o being able to actually read them. Thanks for any help!
25. As per the whole Aeris ressurection thing, I'm pretty sure that they wanted to do that in the original game. I know its all rumor, but Aeris has four limit breaks in FF7 and they are basically impossible to get because She dies pretty early on in the game. They weren't able to finish the game completely and just released it from what I understand w/o putting in the ressurection part. Maybe it was a last-minute idea that they couldn't pull off? If the movie is released on DVD and is popular, indie theatres might pick it up and play it. You can project DVD's on a movie screen even if they don't release a "film" version.
