1. There are actually rumors going around that there will be a second series due to the nature of the title of the final episode.
2. What a coincidence. Currently watching both Basilisk and Trinity Blood in my Anime club this semester. Anyway seen the first 4 eps of Trinity Blood and I love it. According to a friend Abel is kind of a mix Vash and the main character from Hellsing. I also can see how he is similar to Vash but never seen Hellsing.
3. I just saw the subbed version of this at the Melbourne International film festival and I must say it was a marvelous film. In a way this was my introduction to Studio Ghibli as I haven't seen any of their other works. Also having not read the book gave me a great joy. My sister who saw it with me and has read the book said it was completely different in most aspects.
4. I've seen the first two episodes and thought it looked very promising during the first ep. It was the second that pretty much turned me off it completely. I mean Ginta's ARM (the talking thing, whatever it's called) pretty much pisses me off. It is the most annoying thing I've ever seen/heard.
5. I can see that everyone seems to be completely anti-hentai. Me, well I'm indifferent. I don't really care that there is hentai out there. I just love anime. I can understand that parents may have a problem with there kids seeing hentai but if their kids and they ever saw the original Japanese episodes of some of the "kiddie" shows they would probably be shocked. I have a friend who has the subbed version of Cardcaptor Sakura who says that the show has themes of incest in it. I know the dubbed version, Cardcaptors, removes this and is toned down sufficiently for younger audiences. Sailormoon is another example which had gay and lesbian themes in the original series but this was removed, with characters sexes being changed. I remember that Australia never saw the whole series, and so Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune never appeared and so avoiding the lesbian relationship. In Australia though the only stores that stock hentai are actually adult only stores. You won't see it in your ordinary video store. Also in the point made by ChemAngel about Hentai on the playboy channel, I remember reading a while back in a videogame magazine I subscribe to that Playboy was actually gonna release an issue where they showed female characters from videogames completely nude.
6. I'm actually enjoying the Tsubasa Chronicle TV series at the moment. Have only seen the first 8 episodes but it is different to what I usually watch. I'm actually watching it in fansubs which is quite good. If they've already anounced a movie it would be interesting to see if this is stand alone or not.
7.
Omg I SO wanna download that movie. Hey, if your anime club does get it, tell us the website they got it from ;)! Although I'm not a big fan of fan subs, at this point I don't care, I need that movie O_O!
Will do. May be a couple of months wait though.
8. I'm seeing the Japanese Subbed version of this at The Melbourne International Film Festival. It's still a couple of weeks away but I can't wait to see it. My sister has read the book, but I haven't.
9.
I've been thinking. "Self, why would I wait 2 years to see the movie version of my favorite anime in English when I could see it in Japanese, it's purest and original form? I have no idea!" I'm probably going to take off a week and go see FMA: Conqueror of Shambala in Tokyo! As a matter of fact, I'm going to book my trip right now! I'll add my trip to the calendar. Sayonara!
My anime club will probably download this as soon as it's fansubbed (probably 2 months after release), so I'll get it off them as soon as they have it.
10. I have to go Winry. I like both but I prefer Winry over Rei. Probably because as you said she is more outgoing and energetic. If it was Rose from FMA there would be no competition in my opinion...Rose hands down.
11. I have to say xmystic_silverx that on that point we'll have to wait until the film is released to find out how that point is answered. The trailer also shows Ed using Alchemy in Munich as well.
12.
[adult swim] last showed episode 26 "Her Reason". Episodes 50&51(the last two) are ep. 50: "Death" and ep. 51(it has no name.) They are absolutely tear jerking, because of the large amounts of sad scenes. Trust me, you'll be overly satisfied.
Episode 51 has no name but I've seen it referred to as "Munich 1941" on a lot of synopsis websites. In a way that could be it's unofficial name or it could have been intended that 50 and 51 be shown together.
13.
While that is a valid point, it doesn't have much of a bearing on the actual topic--you know, anime dubs. While there are plenty of women who voice young males in the English versions of various anime, on the whole I'd say that many more male roles are played by female seiyuu. As an example, take Mitsuki Saiga. When you look over the dubs of her male roles, some of the characters (such as Tsukasa from .hack//SIGN, Junior from R.O.D the TV and Wolfram from Kyo Kara Maoh) are also played by women in English, but the majority of them (such as Makubex from Get Backers, Jing from King of Bandit Jing, Okita from Peacemaker, Kyosuke from The Soul Taker & Nurse Witch Komugi, Masaru from Stellvia, Raven from Zoids, Jamie from Zoids/ZERO, etc.) have been played by men. This pretty much applies across the board, especially in regards to shounen series like DBZ. I can see where Morpheus is coming from, although I have to say that my tastes differ from his. I love hearing women in male roles. :animesmil ~Dagger~
Thats true but I'd like to take bearing on one of the characters that you mentioned was male but is in fact not. Though Tsukasa from .hack//SIGN is voiced by a female that is expected because
the twist to the series is that Tsukasa is in fact a female in the real world of the anime.
So in this way you would expect the character to be voiced by a female.
14. I believe that Envy would have done it no matter what the circumstance. Envy was one of the most Psychotic characters in the show along with the Crimson Alchemist and Archer. Hughes did have the proof, you just don't know if he would have been believed.
15.
I cannot stand subs. I can't understand the audio, and reading the text while soemthing is going on is annoying. I also find the fact that most voices are women annoying. In a serious meditation scene from DBZ, piccolo sounded like a chipmunk. As said, a few anime surpass their japanese counterparts when dubbed. Most notably Cowboy Bebop, Lupin the 3rd, and especially The Excel Saga.
Umm have you ever noticed that in the majority of your US cartoon shows that male characters are also voiced be women. As a famous example, the Simpsons. So wouldn't you also find that annoying? I can understand your other reasons even if I am a sub fan.
16. This won't be a direct sequel to Tales of Symphonia, similar to how Tales of Symphonia wasn't a direct sequel to Tales of Phantasia. I'm sure there is another game that comes between the two that didn't get a US or European release though.
17. Ok I said before that I would post up a site for the Neon Genesis Evangelion Live action movie so here it is: http://www.cgnetworks.com/story.php?story_id=1901 It's not much but it tells some things that people will probably be shocked, annoyed and frustrated about. It may also turn some of you off from even considering to see it.
18. I must say I've read first four volumes of X manga and really need to get the rest. Anyway for those who are fans of CLAMP, manga or anime, check out Tsubasa Chronicle (also called Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle). This show brings a number of CLAMP characters from different series together and is awesome. I've seen 8 eps and want to watch more.
19. Wild ARms 3: Great storyline with some great roleplaying fun. Similar battle system to the FF games thoughthe characters didn't stand still in one place while attacking. This game was sweet because instead of buying new weaponry or armor just customised the original weapons and AC just rose with the characters lvl. Also battles could be conducted over the wasteland type areas in a tank type transport and in the air using a 'dragon'. Disgaea: Ok so this game is hughly popular and probably shouldn't be put here but I'm talking about the way it was treated in Australia by the Publishing company EA games. This game was released with enough copies to last out the month and once they were gone that was it. No more. Phantom Brave and La Pucelle Tactics lasted longer but also were met by similar treatment by different companies. Only difference is I didn't get a copy of Disgaea as it had been discontinued by the time I heard about it.
20. Ok I've now changed to the American server so I can be added to the guild. Thankyou James and Siren for informing me how to make the change.
21. I'm not sure if anyone has brought this up but the Is a live action Neon Genesis movie in the works. From what I've seen and read though it will be appaling even though Gainex does have some imput. Will put up a few links later. One thing is they are changing all the names i.e. Asuka Langley is now Kate Rose.
22. got this finally today. loving it already. Is it possible if I'm using a european server to join the otakuboards guild? Edit: Just got into Old Ascalon. Man this game rocks my world. Anyway my character's name is Salmac Neirat and is a necromancer/elementalist. If it's possible can I be added to the guild?
23. ABout half a year ago I would have said dubbed. Since then it has changed and I will say subbed. My anime club watches a lot of anime in subs so I've got use to it and come to prefer it. I also went back and watched .hack//sign in subs and I have to say Sora is no where near as annoying. I also watched FMA and Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu in subs and currently watching Bleach the same way.
24. Ok I got heaps and am going to start from my very first...I'll also give the systems so ya know how long it's been. 1. Sonic the Hedgehog 1 - 3 (sega master system II) - These were all great fun as are most sonic games. The sidescrolling action game where your a little blue hedgehog. 2. Asterix and Obelisk (Sega Master System II) - how can anyone say no to an Asterix game. Also cool because of a few Dogmatix stages. 3. Final Fantasy 4 (SNES) - The first of the final fantasy games on snes also the second last to include the storyline revolving around the crystals. 4. Final Fantasy 5 (snes) - A great use of the class change system unlike the recent FFX-2. 5. Final Fantasy 6 (snes) - Probably in my opinion one of the best FF games ever. great storyline, the most amount of characters in an FF game, and Kefka was bloody evil. 6. Secret of Mana (snes) - A great realtime RPG. I love the battle system but the magic system was a bit annoying to get used to. 7. Front Mission (snes) - great storyline and the first strategy RPG I ever played. Interesting use of mechs. And only confined to one island. 8. Pokemon (GB, GBC and GBA) - Most addictive RPG and I've played and completed all. Didn't buy all the games though. 9. Conker (GBC) - Can't remember the actual name but you get the point. Completely different gameplay on GBC and GB. 10. Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (GB) - The first Zelda game I ever played. great fun and good storyline. 11. Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (snes) - I played this later than most and got it as a rom. I also played it through on the GBA version. 12. Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Season (GBC) 13. Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages (GBC) - counting these together as the only way to complete them properly was to link them together and take down Ganon. 14. Pokemon Trading Card Game (GBC) - I sadly admit I owned and played through this game. Not one of my best purchases. Those are the old systems. As for the more recent systems such as N64, PSO, GCN, PS2 and GBA I'll go through them later. Also can't forget PC. I'm also sure I missed a few. It's been so long.
25.
I saw the episode when Ed was going to sacrifice all those people for Al. It was a very hard choice.Cause Camilla was going to destroy Al's soul. And at the end they barely made it. I cant wait to see towards the end of the series.
Wait...Camilla? Are you telling me that the homunculus characters names were changed in the dubbed version? In the subbed/Japanese version of the show each homunculus is named after one of the seven deadly sins. So instead of Camilla (hoping I have the right character which I'm positive I have) her names is Lust.
