3. This just came to me on a whim. It really only makes sense if you've seen the commercials for Dairy Queen's soft serve and waffle thing, and quite possibly seen Natalie Dee's webcomics. How can I eat this... (um, explicit warning? :P)
4.
I'd rather die than be normal...
Exactly. I'm sure if I was ever faced with the choice of being homeless and having a boring but normal life, I'd probably go with the latter. But as I'm pretty positive I'll never have to pick either lifestyle, it's not a big worry. I'm only optimistic about things that I really really want, but the positive outlook combined with the motivation to work for it is most likely better than focusing half my time on being able to get a normal career should I not make it with my band or my stories not generate any interest. It's like trying to fly off a building in a lucid dream. If you have any smidgen of doubt that you'll stay in the air, you'll just fall flat on the ground.
5.
I want to prove that I don't need anything else but my talents to get along in life.
I would love to do this too. My parents spent two hours lecturing me on a plethora of things a while ago, and the one that bothered me the most was how little they seem to think I'm capable of as far as my interests go. I'm pretty sure they want me to graduate high school with near perfect grades and go to college and major in something useful and get some sort of degree. Then go out into the real world and get a real job and start a family and blah blah blah. But there is no way in hell I can do any of that. Sure, I'll graduate high school, but I won't be in the top students. Sure, I'll try to go to college, but if I don't get accepted into where I want to go, it really won't hinder me very much. And I definitely don't want to get married or have kids or have a ridiculously dull career. I'm a musician and a writer, and I am determined to live off of my songs and stories when I go out in the "real world." I'm not going to let myself fail. What really offended me, though, was when they claimed they weren't trying to discourage me, but insisted that I'd have to have some extremely unique sound to survive off my music, and that people don't want to listen to ten hundred bands that all sound the same (which isn't exactly true, if you know anything about the hugely successful bands of today). That shows how much faith they really have in my creative ability. Urggghhh. Sorry, I thought I finished ranting about this in my LiveJournal, but I guess I still had things to say. So yeah. I want to prove that I'm capable of doing whatever the hell I want.
6. In the meantime, Julian was laying on his bed, boredly breezing through a game of Solitaire on his iPod. Holding the thin black device in his hand, he felt a bit self conscious. He had seen all the people here who seemed to be homeless, and he knew how different he was from them. After all, his family was slightly wealthier than most. There came a sudden knock at his door. He chose to ignore it, hoping that whoever it was would figure the room was empty and leave. However, the door swung open, and Joe peeked his head in. "Julian? What are you doing in here?" he asked. Julian nearly scowled, but managed to keep the expression mental. "Resting," he replied, glancing back at his game. Joe frowned. "Did you sign up for any classes?" "No." "Well, why not? Don't you want to learn new abilities, or improve the ones you already have?" Julian finished the game and turned the iPod off. "Not really," he shrugged. Joe arched his eyebrows, almost indignantly. "You should at least get to know your fellow espers." "I like solitude." Julian sat up. "Besides, I have a headache. You shouldn't rip people out of one place and drop them in another unexpectedly." A smile twitched slightly on Joe's face; this was the most Julian had said since his arrival. Even if it was a brief complaint. "Well, if you don't spend less time in your room, it might happen often," Joe warned, then walked away without closing the door. Julian sighed and fell back on the bed, glancing toward the makeshift curtains he created out of newspapers he found in a rack in the library. He thought for a moment; it couldn't hurt to find something else to do, I guess. He checked himself in the mirror before leaving the room and heading back to the library.
7.
(With the possible exception of crepes with Nutella.)
Those are amazing as well. My friend and I once made crepes out of pancake mix and smothered them in nutella. Best breakfast ever. Also, banana pancakes are quite good in nutella.
8. Hey; just because the clues aren't in MY blogs doesn't mean they aren't IN blogs. Here's one more hint to help you out: SHIFT your eyes to your hands Help is right below. Yay for being cryptic.
9. Caribou Coffee Granola Bars. Holy crap. I used get these all the time when school was still in, since they were sold in the gas station across the street. They are INCREDIBLE. I have a really bad craving for one right now. I could definitely eat the hell out of some vanilla latte granola.
10. I've been obsessing over rootbeer floats for some reason lately. I think it all started with the commercials for Wendy's and Sonic's new floats and I just started craving one. I had two this weekend alone, hah. I've also eaten vegetarian bacon sandwiches pretty much every day for the past week. It hardly counts as an addiction though, since there's not much else I can eat.
11. This is pretty much my first time RPing in a forum (and my first time RPing in an incredibly long time), so I'm afraid I'm not very/any good at it. I would love to mingle with the other characters, but I just HAD to make Julian antisocial. I guess I'm kind of hesitant to have any kind of encounter at all since they're not my own characters. If anyone wants to speak to him, please do. :P And as for him being straight...that's a good one. xD
12. Oh geez, I'm just gonna fall into a trap here. AFI - A Fire Inside EP and AFI - Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes (02/01/07) I got these at the concert because they were a lot cheaper than they would've been in the store ($10 for the full length and $7 for the EP, which I've only found in distant places such as the Disney World music store). Both of them are amaaazing (of course), even though they're pre-Jade Puget. Shut Your Mouth is pretty much the crossroads album, hinting that the band would be moving in a darker direction. AFI - Decemberunderground (06/06/06) This album is different from the first two on so many levels. For one thing, the lyrics are far more poetic. The genre itself has changed almost completely, and the musicianship is incredible (as I said, the first two albums had a different guitarist. Jade Puget is seriously a musical genius). And though it's very easy to discern Davey Havok's voice from that of any other singer, his voice has definitely matured over the years (partly due to the problem he had with his vocal chords and the surgery he had to undergo). If I got anything else in between those two dates, I seriously can't remember. I mean, of course I acquired new music (non-AFI even! shock!) but I very rarely have money to spend on CDs, and a lot of the time my friends will have the music I want so I'll just get it from them.
13.
Considering it is still Monday, I'm hoping I'm not too late to say I'm in.
No problem! :] I'm considering nulling the sign-ups and letting whoever wants to join do so. I just didn't think it would be good form to post the game without having this kind of thread generating interest beforehand.
14.
I believe the correct spelling is "Pokeymanz."
Actually, I didn't caption that one. My friend, Dani, likes to add cute things to her pictures every now and then. :P
15.
You people are glossing over all kinds[/i'] of subtle nuances in scene kid fashion.
Yeah, I always understood it that "emo kids" and "scene kids" were two different things, despite how similar everyone makes them out to be. And for the record, I love both of them a lot.
16. AAH, make it stop! :[ 1. Papa Roach; "Dead Cell" OMGZ. The only reason I have this song is that it's on the Queen of the Damned soundtrack. I really haven't liked any other PR songs I've heard. I just love screaming "DEAD CELL!" in the middle of the night along with the movie. Hah. 2. Rufiomercutiopistachioadagio; "Lucio" This guy has an incredibly long name, but this has got to be my favorite indie song ever. And by indie I mean he has four songs on a myspace and that's it. No albums or anything. I don't know if he even plays shows anywhere. But I love this so much it's been on my myspace for months and months. It's also pretty ironic that after all the "-io's" in his name, the song title also ends in "-io." Whee. 3. Nightwish; "Forever Yours" Meh, I never liked this one. Not even when I was obsessed with the band. It's just really boring in the beginning, and the few times I've gotten past it I've found there wasn't much else to the song. 4. Regina Spektor; "I Want to Sing" I'm not so sure how I like this one. The a capella aspect of it is just a little dull. 5. Rise Against; "Swing Life Away" acoustic Eeeeh. I'm not so fond of this song, either. 6. AFI; "The New Patron Saints and Angels" This is one of my favorites off their Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes album (which was right before they started writing darker music). 7. Queen; "Bicycle Race" Pretty much every Queen song I know has some kind of nostalgic background to it. This has the same story as Bohemian Rhapsody; my friends and I were belting it out the last day of eighth grade, as well as making up dances for it. 8. Rasputina; "Gingerbread Coffin" The intro to this is a little boring, but once the music box stops playing it's a very good song. As usual, the lyrics are weird, but that's Rasputina for you. 9. Thursday; "Hole in the World" acoustic This was the first Thursday song I've ever heard, and I adore it. 10. AFI; "Miss Murder" This song actually makes me kind of mad. I mean, I do like it, but only because it's AFI. I think Decemberunderground is full of better songs that would've made even better singles because they're either easier to interpret (when he says "take my life," he's making a metaphor, not threatening suicide) or are just plain BETTER. It annoys me that they end their concerts with this song--especially since when I went to see them there were two or three songs that I really wanted to hear and didn't get to. 12. Incubus; "Talk Shows On Mute" Haha, I put this song on my Fahrenheit 451 soundtrack that I made for my english teacher last year. It was probably one of the only songs that could actually fit with the book...the rest just had "fire" in the title. xD 13. AFI; "Bleed Black" Yum. This song is incredibly fun to play and I plan on closing one of my own shows with it someday in the near future. 14. Rasputina; "Rose K." This is one of their historical songs, about Rose Kennedy. I don't really listen to it that often, though. 15. David Bowie; "Within You" Hooray, Labyrinth! That's all I have to say. :]
17. Mmkay, the thread is up for posting. Thanks to all who signed up (you're all in, in case you didn't realize :P). Good luck. :]
18. Welcome, once again. Before we start, I just want to clarify. The point of this game is to decipher the clues and answer the question that helps solve the murder mystery. Once found, clues should be posted and talked about in this thread and helped deciphered as a collective effort (or if you want, you can try to do it all on your own. In any event, I hope my premiere "RPG" turns out to be fun. :] PART ONE - With What? In this section, you need to find out what weapon was used in the murder. Our ghost only had enough time to pass this short clue over from the other world. Those words Belong in a place for friends What words? They're around here somewhere You have all the time in the world to work on this (I'm still not sure how hard it is :/). Good luck!
19.
>_< I swear DB there should be a method where the member gets infamous for being a known pervert. Or for finding a way to mention sex in most of their posts. Like that horrible would you rather one you did. o_O That and reading that was seriously freaky! So yeah, no pats on the back, especially [/I']if it's you! :p
That could probably fall under obsession. :P
20.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPhAHYAsWgQ Seriously, though, that yogurt commercial for the yoplait whips. That song... ugh. "My Little Fluffy One..." What the crap is that supposed to mean, anyway? Plus the whole stereotypical obnoxious french lover voice just turns it into a train wreck. The worst part is probably the fact that the song is STUCK IN MY HEAD.
It's a parody of a song from the musical Cabaret, I think. If not from Cabaret then from SOME musical. The first time I heard it I laughed really hard, because one of my friends used to sing the real song all the time to get on my nerves. Hah.
21. Julian followed the muffled sound of conversation to the cafeteria, where he instantly wrinkled his nose in disgust. He could smell the standard breakfast foods, none of which would be deemed edible in his diet. He wasn't planning to eat breakfast anyway, however; he never had in his life and never really wanted to. He just wanted to get a good look at the members of his new community. As he turned to leave, his shoulder collided with Shayla's as she stepped into the cafeteria. "Sorry," they both muttered. The two locked eyes for a moment, as if they subconsciously shared some kind of understanding...or maybe a lifestyle. Julian broke the gaze first, nodding once and continuing down the hallway. He realized he had no idea where to go or what to do. He walked towards his corridor as if he were returning to his bedroom, but decided to explore the building and turned down a different hallway. There he saw Joe, leafing through papers on a clipboard and not paying much attention to where he was walking. Julian inched against the wall, hoping the man would keep his nose in his busywork. Of course, he wouldn't. "Are you still looking for the cafeteria?" He asked, skidding to a stop. "No." Julian replied, still walking away. Joe made a curious noise, but went back to his clipboard and turned out of the hallway. Julian walked slowly, memorizing his path.
22. There was a really bad car sales-place commercial on TV a lot when I was in the smallest town in Florida this weekend. It started out with two younger girls sitting on a big yellow SUV. They both had southern accents (which is strange, considering where I live is even more southern than that town and nobody speaks that way here. Maybe it's their proximity to the culturally southern states?) Girl 1: "Daddy said he's bringin' in a celebrity to help sell cars next month. Who do you think it'll be?" Girl 2" "I don't know, but I shore' hope he's kee-yoot!" Then there's a transition for some reason. A boy sticks his head up from behind the hood of the car. Boy: "Kee-yoot? Oh my goodness, girls." Hand flap. Another transition. Girl 2: (Broadway style shrug) "What's wrong with Brandon?" ANOTHER transition. Girl 1: (weird pause) "Boys!" Hand flap. At the end the girl kept saying "Tee-yota" instead of Toyota. It made me giggle for a while.
23.
I realise that if I actually cared about being an OB star, I'd most likely fall under "Method 10: Be obsessive and proud of it." given that I adore Transformers and any of my OB friends will tell you this. Also my avi and banner should tip you off as well.
I would as well, even though I rarely have banners or my avatar set up to show it. I do post their lyrics in my signature more often than not, though. I'm sure tons of people know how AFI-crazy I am. =P But in all honesty, I don't see how that would make me some kind of "star." People just might think I don't listen to anything other than AFI, which isn't exactly how I'd prefer to be viewed. (I guess it would be all my fault, though. Ghghghghrhrgh.)
24.
that commercial for freecreditreport dot com... that guy is so annoying.. "and it happens to be 720!".. he's really obnoxiously smug.. hmm yeah i guess that's it, i guess those head on commercials are pretty awful, but they quit with them months ago (mostly)... @Kuja... well i guess there are only so many ways you can say "buy this coz itll make ur hair rly shiny!!!!!!!!!!!111!!"
I can't stand that credit score commercial, either. Whenever I hear "I'm thiiiinking of a number," I can't help but laugh in remembrance. I hate commercials advertising food products in which the people eating them are enjoying the food as if it were an amusement park. It's even worse when I've had the food product and it's nowhere near as tasty as they made it out to be.
