We all ready have a thread for Japanese Music. Please post there if you want to talk about your favorite J-Pop or J-Rock group. Remember, whenever creating a thread, please make sure that there's not already an active thread (available on the first page of threads) for what you want to discuss. Thread closed.
  2. Welcome to OtakuBoards, LilyBebeboo. Here we encourage threads that spawn intelligent discussion. I honestly don't think that this one has the potential to do that. OtakuBoards is a forum, not a search engine. If you really want to know something about a song, please try Google or another search engine. If you have any questions, please read the rules, or feel free to PM me or another mod. Enjoy your stay. Thread closed.
  3. Welcome to OtakuBoards, BlueEyedAngel. Here, we encourage intelligent discussion that can only spawn from a good thread-starting post. Yours is almost there, but it doesn't really give people much to talk about. Why do you like this band? What kind of music do they play? Answering questions such as these are a good idea when trying to start a thread. If you have any questions, please read the rules, or feel free to PM me or one of the other moderators. Enjoy your stay at the OB.
  4. I'm writing again. This is the most recent (of about ten minutes), and it's definitely a song, as all of my previous works have been. --- I thought the pain had ceased And that I could feel relieved But the tear was there to contradict Everything I had believed. Nothing I did could save you. "I can't do this anymore." No tears are falling now as they might have fallen once before. Thought there was nothing better. Thoughts died a week ago. Four months wasted in one night. In a vicious undertow. I've searched for absolution But we had no wrong to clear The only thing you could've done Would affirm my deepest fear. I've become apprehensive Waiting for climactic light. I'm still exhausted from the note Poured out to you that night. And a million words would not suffice If they were all I had to say to you And a field of roses bleeding dry Could never get the feeling through I know we're linked in such a way No cuts could ever break. We're going to make it out alive If this is what it takes. I'm burning with your stigmata And I have to make it stay. Perfection reached in sharing pain You'd rather wash away. --- I feel like I've matured as a writer, if not just a little. I've never been this personal with my lyrics before.
  5. Just imagining the "opening theme" and reading about the characters made me giggle. I'm eager to read the first episode; I've heard you're a boards renowned comedian. =) (I've also read your works myself, of course).
  6.
Abstract NYC Tunnel - New York City
I love distorted light photos. Your pictures are really nice - I love sky shots and city scapes, and NYC is my favorite place in the world (regardless that I've never been there). I just wish I could manage to take a really good light photo like that. I don't really have anything new, but I'm trying to find some nice photos I've taken in the past. This was in biology on after the final exam. Nothing special. I really love taking candid pictures; while they may not always come out the best, they always look better than posed pictures. It's especially great if I get the subject making a weird face. I'd give an example, but I don't know if my friends would mind me posting them here.

    Screaming
It's screaming. It's supposed to only come out when you're surprised/scared, not as a way of scaring.[/FONT']
That's not true, you silly. Haven't you ever seen a screamer flash file? The image that pops out isn't always scary, but the scream that accompanies it can make me jump out of my skin. My middle school principal was very scary when he screamed. And I bet kidnappers scream at kids or their older hostages to be quiet or follow their directions, which is probably really frightening for the captive. So, you see, screaming of all sorts can be used to scare people! Anyway, on topic. Screaming is a lot harder than it sounds. Just the other day, I was trying to record a guitar and vocal version of Miss Murder by AFI, and I could NOT scream well at all. It may just be that I'm a 15-year old girl with three and a half years of choral training, or that I'm just afraid a neighbor will hear me and wonder what in the world is going on in my house. I even screamed into a couch pillow so I wouldn't be so loud. But when I listened to the playback, it sounded really dumb. While I can't really help you scream, I do know that dairy products are really bad for your voice because they create mucus in your throat, which coats your vocal chords. So, don't drink milk or eat yogurt or ice cream or anything made out of dairy before a show.
  8. Okay, I'm back with my 600 song playlist. It's strange how addictive this thing is, when there's not much to it.

AFI - "Girls Not Grey"
Five Iron Frenzy - "Canada"
Placebo - "Plasticine"
See-Saw - "Mai"
Trans-Siberian Orchestra - "Christmas Nights in Blue"
Johann Sebastian Bach - "Toccata and Fugue in D Minor"
Yuki Kajiura - "Labyrinth"
Trans-Siberian Orchestra - "O Come All Ye Faithful/O Holy Night"
Rasputina - "Dig Ophelia"
Rasputina - "Cooped"
AFI - "Days of the Phoenix"
Taking Back Sunday - "Cute Without the E (Acoustic)"
AFI - "Who Said You Could Touch Me Anyway?"
Nightwish - "Phantom of the Opera"
Five Iron Frenzy - "When I Go Out"
This one isn't that much different from my first one, except for the newly added anime and ska. There's also an early AFI song, which further proves my infinite love for everything they've ever done.
  9. I was taking photography at school, but I'm switching to a school that doesn't offer the course. I managed to learn a few nifty things I can do with a camera, though. I took a few cool-looking pictures, so I decided to post them. They may not be very good picture wise, but remember that I did all of them with a regular digital camera, and I didn't edit any of them. Some tricks with lamps and glowing screens: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v630/ShikyoKasu/Sunday0813036.jpg Some "ghosts" around my house: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v630/ShikyoKasu/Sunday0813037.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v630/ShikyoKasu/Sunday0813038.jpg It's not very hard to take pictures like this, but it is a little tricky to make them look the way you want them to. What I did in the "ghost" pictures was change the shutter speed to five or more seconds, set the camera down somewhere, press the shutter button, and move in an out of the field of the camera's view. I did the same for the light pictures, but instead I aimed at a TV and shook the camera everywhere. This thread shouldn't be restricted to just my pictures, or just special effects pictures like mine. If you're a photographer, feel free to share your work.
  10. I had a thread like this a while ago, and I decided to bring it back. The gist of it is that you open your media player (or iPod, whatever you use to listen to music) and put it on shuffle. Then you post the next fifteen songs that play, no matter how embarassing it is. If one artist comes on twice or more in a row, you're allowed to skip them, but you don't have to. In order to make this more than just posting a random list, try to explain what it reflects on your musical interests.

AFI - "Bleed Black"
Nightwish - "Slaying the Dreamer"
AFI - "But Home is Nowhere"
Queen - "Bicycle Race"
The Killers - "All These Things That I've Done"
Nightwish - "Phantom of the Opera"
Misfits - "Nike A Go Go"
Trans-Siberian Orchestra - "Christmas Canon Rock"
The Cure - "Lovecats"
Joel Grey - "A Sentimental Man"
Misfits - "She"
AFI - "Narrative of Soul Against Soul"
AFI - "Days of the Phoenix"
AFI - "This Celluloid Dream"
Adicts - "4321"
Apocalyptica - "Legend of Zelda theme"
Other than showing how much I love AFI, most of the things that played are either punk (Adicts, Misfits) or metal (Nightwish, TSO, Apocalyptica). There's also a a smidgeon of Broadway and alternative. I don't really listen to the Killers, so I'm not sure why I left them on my iTunes. I only have 181 songs on this computer as well, so I may come back later, armed with my near 600 song playlist computer.

    HxC Dance

I was watching some videos of people hardcore dancing, and all I could think to myself was "They look so dumb, yet hilarious."
Then my friend reminded me that there's hardcore dancing in AFI's video for "The Leaving Song pt. II," and I rewatched it, and it instantly became cool. I really don't think you'd be able to dance to that song in real life, though.
I'm afraid that if, for some reason, I go to a hardcore show and try to thrash about like that, I'd get knocked down. Then I wouldn't want to do it anymore, and I'd feel really stupid. I do headbang to two specific songs; Nightwish "Slaying the Dreamer" and Queen "Bohemian Rhapsody." Nothing else really does it for me like that.
  12. Crocodile: I don't feel like we're fitting in very well... Camel: You're the one who chose to leave the house wearing nothing but a hat and an ascot, and frankly, you look ridiculous.
  13. Preschool: You're gonna have to learn how to tie your own shoes SOMETIME. Kindergarten: It's better to learn how to read than play with blocks. First Grade: You can get in trouble for doing absolutely nothing wrong. Second Grade: Alphabet books are awesome. Third Grade: It sucks to be mistaken for a boy. Fourth Grade: You're not supposed to wear a costume on wear-a-costume day! Jesus Christ! Fifth Grade: Elementary school is no fun at all. Sixth Grade: Lockers are a pain. Down with lockers. Seventh Grade: Irish teachers are really awesome. Eighth Grade: It's possible to have fun playing Kick the Can. Ninth Grade: High school - friends = the worst possible time ever. Tenth Grade: Currently learning things. I'm really happy, because I'm finally switching schools. If I wasn't going to, the one thing I learned in ninth grade would be the same for all four years. I'm finally going to enjoy going to school. (OMGZ?)
  14. I'm going to go ahead an post in here so I don't have to live with the fact that I'm going to be a part of this game for the rest of my life. Losing is cool.
  15. Shy came up with the idea to make it an event, sort of like American Idol (but of much better quality), to decide the band members. I like his idea better, so that's probably what's going to happen if something happens. As for the original genre, we'd probably go for a variety of different ones so that the whole of OB can find something to like; even if we had to venture out of rock genres or something.
  16. Would anybody be interested in helping create one? An OB band would be a just-for-fun kind of thing, and the members wouldn't even have to leave there living room (or wherever their computer may be). I think an official band would be pretty nifty, and it would probably be a lot of fun. We could play music from video games (such songs from Legend of Zelda, Super Mario, etc.), as well as maybe even write original songs that have to do with OB and every weird little thing that goes on around here.
Prick Wizard and his obsession with elves, for example. =P
Perhaps we could even compose a theme song for the boards. Since the band members wouldn't be able to come together, practice, and record songs, we could pull a Jakehammaren (his band's members are located in different states, as I recall) and have each member record their part as an Mp3 on to their computer and send it to the band manager to have it included in a song. I don't think it would be too hard. I can play guitar, so what the band will need is at least a bassist and a drummer. If anyone wants to help and can play another instrument - cello, piano, trumpet, whatever - then we could probably work those in as well. So, is anyone interested?
  17.
You probably know this already, but protein is for everything, not just for muscle. Chances are, if you are fine, you are getting proteins from some source. Milk, for instance, is a great protein source, and certain vegatables have protein.
Though I do hate milk, I sort of knew some vegetables had protein. It's very annoying, though, because everytime I say "I'm going vegetarian again," someone will always pester me with "omgzz!! how are you going to get protein!?"
  18. I'm going to guess that #7 is PWNED...=/ [strike]Either that or Strongbadia.[/strike]
  19. I promised myself I would never get all the way up to 180, but I'm close. At 5'6-7", it's not so bad, but I'm extremely self concious. I haven't gained or lost much since last March, but I haven't really been trying. Sometimes I ride my bike a long ways (I rode six miles last week, but I stopped a lot because I went to some stores and stuff along the way). I used to play DDR, and I can do a few songs on heavy, but mostly on standard. I haven't really been that interested in it lately, though. The most important thing for me right now, though, is to be vegetarian. I'm on day 3 and I'm pretty proud, because this is the longest I've been able to be vegetarian. I guess it helps that I found a really good veggie burger product, and that I can eat those for dinner instead of sloppy joes or pot roast that my mom made. I also eat spanish rice, macaroni and cheese, and lots of vegetables. I don't really care that I'm not getting protein, because I don't ever do any heavy lifting or anything. Besides, I normally starve myself for hours by not eating breakfast before school. If I'm not dead or dying yet, I'll be fine. =P I just remembered that I was boiling water for rice and I left it alone for about an hour. Duuuh.
  20. How ironic that as soon as the squirrel finished as much as he could, he stumbled into the road and was squashed by a drunk driver.
  21.
As for mine, Claire, it originates from the Greek and Latin languages. In general, it means bright, smart. Or shining and clear. Something like that. I'm not so sure how that would fit me. I guess most people would consider me smart, but that's about it. Unless being extremely pale counts as being "shining and clear." :P Haha. Because I'm no social butterfly if we are talking personality-wise.
I'm shocked that someone else has the same name that I do. Seriously, I was the only Claire in my entire middle school, and now in a high school of maybe 2350 students, I'm one of two (or at least such was the case last year). I'm really glad that it's such an uncommon name that I'm usually the only one, but it's kind of plain. If I think of my name being on a playbill or in credits, it doesn't seem to fit. Maybe it's just because of my stupid last name, but Claire is just kind of bleh. (That's why I used to be called Amelia, don'tchaknow). As for the deeper parts of it, it seems you and I are similar. I guess I'm supposed to be smart; I'm in all honors classes, as well as AP World History (which is supposed to be similar to a college course or something). I guess intelligence and will-to-do-things are different, though, eh? I'm seriously lacking in that last part. I've also gotten some pretty nice reviews of my acting and writing, so I guess that could be considered "shining" in some peoples eyes. As for clear, I think I'm sometimes hard to understand, due to my random nature and complete ability to manipulate the English language (and apathy to the fact that "I just lol-ed all over the floor" is not an appropriate substitute for laughter). I've also got super pale skin. We're some silly vampires, us Clurrs. EDIT.
Skip all the elf name generators
But how will the elves be able to respond to this thread?!
  22. I used to be scared of wolves, though I don't know why. I also forgot that I'm scared of heights, sharks, and whales. Heights because of the fear of falling and dying, sharks because of their creepy lifeless eyes and menacing teeth, and whales because they're humongous. I was just reading a story about a whale one night, and I thought to myself, "You know, I'm scared of whales." I think I'm frightened of sea creatures in general.
  23. I know we all can't be completely unscareable. We may not have something we can call our biggest fear, but surely we have things that creep us out. I'm somewhat the latter. I don't get scared all that much anymore, but I just can't handle somethings for very long. The dark, for instance. It's not really a problem if I'm in the same room as other people, but I can't be alone in a dark room. It's the feeling of uncertainty, and paranoid thoughts that people are hiding in my closet...as well as not being able to see anything. I'm not afraid of monsters anymore, but I think every single noise I hear outside (such as plants tapping on my window, or that one cat that sometimes comes into my yard and sickly meow) will be the death of me. That's just with the light on. I'm also terrified of frogs. I was stuck in a bathroom with one a couple weeks ago, and I couldn't help but scream as it hopped around. =( I suppose there's not much I'm afraid of anymore. I used to be very scared of thunderstorms, but I've gotten over that. I can also watch scary movies now, such as Halloween (which I've yet to see, but I really want to) and The Shining. I haven't seen any recent horror movies, though. They might actually affect me. So, what are you afraid of?
  24. While I don't have a reasonable solution to your problem, I would just like to enviously point out that I took care of my neighbors two puppies for a week, letting them out, cleaning their indoor messes, and making sure they had food. All I got was $20. ='( Though, if for some reason this ends up going to court, I say you should appear in a neck brace and crutches
  25.
The world doesn't revolve around you. The public buses don't stop only for you. The library is not five minutes away from everyone. Your personal situation is an absolutely useless example. I don't mean to be rude, but the way you present yourself as an example, it sounds like you only are annoyed by this legislation simply because it makes it inconvenient for you, failing to look at the greater good/bigger picture of the matter, because your 5 minutes will turn into... umm... more minutes.
Actually, I don't have a "net cafe" where I live, either, and every city I've ever been to hasn't had one (as far as I know). Now, I'm not worried about the new law because it will keep ME from using myspace or anything. I have three internet-capable computers at my house that I can use for almost as long as I want. My main problem with this is the friend I mentioned in an earlier post. She goes to a completely different high school than I do, and she has no internet at her house. She used to go to the library to check her myspace, which was one of the best sources of communication we could use. Without it, I'm not going to be able to talk to her as often. It's bad enough that I'm forced to go to a school where none of my friends go, but now I can't talk to one of my best friends. She doesn't have a cell phone, either, so I don't have that option. I can't call her all the time. My library is only about a 10 minute bike ride away. Retribution's not the only one with a convenient way to access the internet. I know of about ten other libraries in my city, too; they're generally there to convenience EVERYONE, not one or two people. Why is it that in serious discussion threads, there's always a heated argument? =(
