Any posts from this point on need to be better quality than the previous two. Saying things like "I like it" or using poor grammar (not using punctuation, for example) aren't going to be sufficient enough to keep the thread alive. Please elaborate on why you like the show.
2.
MINE! I hope... EDIT: OK its done, I didnt include electricity or color, because when i color things i ruin them *Shrug* i just dont have the color skill yet :p This guy is Azari. Clothes can be different and colors can be whatever you choose. Same for shoes. He has green eyes and those earings... they are like tsume's from Wolf's Rain (the hooks that point forward...) and his hair always has the brown with the golden blonde streaks in it.
An actual opening? No way! Thank goodness it's a guy this time. I will do it. Edit - Sorry, my time ran out without me realizing it. Azari is reclaimable.
3. Today at camp, the kids cast as orphans (I'm going to be in the musical Annie) were practicing "Maybe." Listening to them with the piano underneath gave me goosebumps. I think I might cry when we actually perform in a few weeks. (Hard Knock Life was also amazing and also made me shiver, but it wasn't really pretty like Maybe was).
4. Well, I don't really know a lot about it, but there's a 70 something page thread of speculation about this "mystery" on the AFI message board on their website. Supposedly, DU is linked with Sing the Sorrow (which was supposedly a concept album about a man who died and could not be reincarnated because he was born in the year of the rabbit...or something like that. I don't know if this is true at all, since wikipedia isn't completely reliable). I just know that there were hidden phone numbers that you could call and hear clues about it. There's also clues through out the album booklet...such as the little notes beneath the lyrics. Some people think it's a little connected to the book, Interview With the Vampire. Personally. I think that Davey is actually a rabbit. And that's all there is to it. =P I don't know why, but learning this makes me love this album and band ten million times more.
5. Okay, after a little over a week of contemplation, my slight disappointment turned into extreme love. I never knew there was this big mystery with clues inside the album. My absolute favorite song from this album is probably Kiss and Control, but I love them all almost equally. I'm also partial to The Interview now, and Endlessly She Said. Has anyone heard the Miss Murder remix on their myspace? They weren't responsible for it, but regardless...it's awkward to think of AFI producing techno after listening to Art of Drowning and Black Sails in the Sunset for the better half of my day.
6. It's amazing how hypocritical the whole US system is. People may be free to practice their own religion, or write what they want without fearing execution for their beliefs. The church and state are separate, yet we can't give people their basic rights because of their sexual preference. Crap like this is everywhere, and everyone is subject to it. After the Christians and other people have been banned from saying "Merry Christmas" to people in schools and workplaces, the ultra religious try for a law against gay marriage. I personally don't have any problem with homosexuality anymore...rather, I don't think I ever did. It doesn't make sense how we can be so blind to things like racism and homophobia, which are so constant in society. The government is supposed to grant basic rights to every citizen. So, why doesn't it?
7. I'll preface by saying that I've joined many other forums, but none of them have ever held me hostage as long as OtakuBoards has. All rise in the presence of OB! But yeah, OB is definitely one of the best message boards that the interwebnet has to offer. I know I haven't been to every single message board available, but I don't care. OB is the best. That's reason enough. I love how intelligent everyone here is, and I love how involved all the mods are. I also love my own mod job, which is a pretty good reason to stick around. But I've hardly had any problems with anyone here, and the friendly nature of the boards is something that can be hard to find. However, there's one other message board I like to go to, and they have no moderation or what seems to be any form of authority there at all. Regardless of that, everyone is amazingly witty and thoughtful. There's even a Random Thread in which you can talk about absolutely anything you want, and there's no spam there at all (except for the few bots that leak through the security system every now and then). It's probably just because it's the message board of a very obscure band, though. Viva la OB =D
8. Is Nintendo 64 considered classic? My sister just found it last night, and I've fallen in love with it again. Right now I'm playing Pokemon Stadium, but I also have Legend of Zelda (Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time), Star Fox 64, Donkey Kong 64, Mario Kart, NFL Blitz 2000, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, Hey You Pikachu (but we couldn't find the microphone or anything), a Nascar game, and Fighter's Destiny. The only problem with the system is that the reset button is slightly stuck, and I had to beat it up a bit to make it work. I even had to hit it with a hammer a couple of times! It seems to be working normally now, though, so I hope it will stay that way. I also like to play Pokemon Red and Blue, because I'm too poor to afford the game boy advance remakes. (Just so you know, there is a way to get Mew without a gameshark or any outside party. I did it and it worked. =)
9.
All thats really left is that there has to be an end to it. Just like Nirvana killed hair metal. Does anyone agree with me or si this some dumb conspiracy?
As long as there's money, there won't be an end to rap or MTV. It's what everyone wants and if you can appeal to millions of people, it's easy to get. And Nirvana wasn't hair metal. Hair metal applies to bands like Guns N' Roses, ZZTop, the Scorpions, Heart, etc. Nirvana was alternative at their time, and I don't know if they were called grunge then or only now. Nirvana and Pearl Jam are examples of grunge, I believe.
Well I was talking about rap more specifically but I guess it can be used on other genres(The only genre that it bothers me in is rap though). Oh and name one good hair metal song.
I particularly like "Love is a Battlefield" and "Barracuda" by Heart. I consider them hair metal, because they came from the eighties and had hair. But my definition of good may not be your definition of good, nor may it be Cygnus'. You don't have to like hair metal, but that doesn't mean someone else won't.

Welcome to OtakuBoards, frozenchaos. This thread doesn't have much anything to do with music, movies, or TV. If you want to talk about Japanese music, we all ready have a thread for that here. If you need someone to make you a wallpaper for a Japanese artist, the Art by Request forum is specifically for that. Please read the Rules, if you haven't all ready. Enjoy your stay here at Otakuboards; thread closed.
12. Welcome to Otakuboards, Sunsetjenn. We encourage a little more detail in threads to spawn discussion. The basis is good, but we need to know more. What other new music do you like? Who agrees that newer music is normally better? What new music does everyone else love? Try to talk about more than one song, because we all ready have a favorite song thread here. Enjoy your stay here, please. Most new music doesn't adhere to my tastes. I don't listen to the radio, nor do I watch music television. The newest music I like is from AFI's Decemberunderground, but I'm a bit iffy on some of the songs on the album. Basically, I don't really care for newer music most of the time...but if I hear something I could adore, I'll look into it.
13. I woke up around 10 AM on 06/06/06, excited that AFI's new album was finally out and that I was going to get it very shortly. To be honest, I was afraid that they had changed too much, but I was willing to get the CD to find out, and to add another album to my collection. So, I got to Borders around noon, bought Decemberunderground, and promptly began to listen to it. Prelude 12/21 - I don't think there is an AFI album that doesn't feature a shorter, less complex song to introduce it. The soft bells at the beginning are beautifully haunting, and Davey's voice comes in meekly. Once the hip-hoppish sounding beat comes in, he becomes more passionate about the lyrics. Overall, I really like this one. It's quite catchy. Kill Caustic - It starts with screaming and goes back and forth between that and singing. I'm not too fond of the verses, but I really like the chorus. My favorite part is near the end, when Davey whispers "Don't ever speak my name." The guitar becomes loud and heavy, and I want to thrash about. This is definitely one of the better songs on the album. Miss Murder - This is the single that most everybody knows. It was catchy when they released it, and it's even more so now that I can hear the electronica that they used in it. This one reminds me the most of AFI's previous albums, which is probably why I love it so much. I adore the part where Davey says, "without hope..." then escalates into a passionate scream. I can tell why they released this song before the album. Summer Shudder - I think a lot of AFI fans really like this one, and I'm right there with them. I really like everything about it, especially the chorus. Sadly, it seems the best songs decided to stay around the beginning. I can hardly remember the rest of the album without listening to it. The Interview - The opening guitar makes me want to listen to "Halloween" by Siouxsie and the Banshees. It's a slow song, but I like the parts before the chorus and the chorus. The organ at the end reminds me of...it's either an emo band or a slowed down version of horrorpunk. Love Like Winter - I don't like how Davey sings in the beginning. It reminds me of that girl in my chorus class last year who thought she was singing in a really good popstyle, but she didn't sound very good. The chorus, as usual, is catchy, and there's some very good instrumentation and electronica in this one. There's a tiny tiny bit of foreign language in this one, but not enough to actually impact the song. It might be Italian. Affliction - I can't decide whether I love or hate the intro. The repeating bassline is kind of annoying. I really like the guitar right before the chorus, and I love the chorus as well (when haven't I?). There's a part near the end that really shows off Davey's range, but I don't much care for it. At the very end is a sort of instrumental with a poppy beat and clean sounding guitar. It reminds me of a rainy day outside a hospital. There's a panicky sounding lady speaking, but I have no idea what she's saying. The Missing Frame - Not one of my favorites. I don't much care for the "ooh" synth sound, or the chorus. It reminds me a lot of The Bravery or the Postal Service with a distortion guitar. If I wanted the Bravey or the Postal Service, I would listen to them...but this is AFI. The chorus sounds surprisingly upbeat despite the lyrics, which isn't quite what I'm looking for in an AFI album. It makes me miss the despair of Black Sails, or even Sing the Sorrow. I like the part where Davey sings "with the flag behind me, put out the fire inside me," though. Kiss and Control - The intro is strongly reminscent of the verses of Silver and Cold, sung in a soft voice that gets louder with the guitar. That turns into a scream for the chorus, and I can hear the passion behind it. My favorite part is when Davey begins to speak, and he gradually gets angry and more urgent, then finally screams. The electronica fits nicely with this song, probably because there isn't much. The Killing Lights - This one has the newer sound that is still AFI. There's not much to say, other than it's pretty catchy, and I like it a bit. It sort of sounds emo around the part that goes, "cut cut cut cut cut cut cut you up," and the very short guitar solo sounds kind of messy and panicky. There's a longer guitar part that isn't a solo that's very clean and pretty, and fits the song really well. 37mm - I like the electronica in the beginning. This song is more despairing than some of the others; "if you believe in me, how can I be dissolving?" The chorus is very nice, as well. At some point, he sings "your sins into me," which DEFINITELY reminds me of Sing the Sorrow. (Hm, can you figure out why?) There's a strange electronic part at the end that I don't like very much, backed by the trademark "ooooohs" that can be found in at least most of the songs from the past four or five AFI albums (be it an "oh" or a "woah). Endlessly, She Said - This is a very nice closer to the album, filled with passion and bits of despair, made known by the chorus, "'I will wait for you,' she said, 'endlessly.'" The melody sounds like a rainy day at the beginning, then like a storm near the chorus. This song mixes hope and hopelessness together perfectly, as contradicting as that sounds. Surprisingly, there's no hidden track behind this one, which leaves a kind of empty feeling...considering Black Sails, Art of Drowning, and Sing the Sorrow had "Midnight Sun," "Battled," and "Spoken Word/This Time Imperfect," respectively. Without the hidden song, this track would've done better ending explosively and not acapella. Ah, such is life. Anticipation can often end in disappointment. I still love it, simply because it's AFI, but I really REALLY miss the amazing work they did on Black Sails through Sing the Sorrow. A perk, for me, is that my random band member on the lyric book cover happened to be Davey. Who we all know is the most beautiful man in the world. Candy for my ears AND eyes! So, did anyone else get AFI's new album? What do you think? Have they changed too much? Are they sexy or what? Let's have some discussion. Fixed your picture. - Petie
14. I'm afraid it wouldn't be live, because I don't have the proper equipment to do that sort of thing with sound. I'm pretty sure I have NetMeeting on the main computer, but I can't check right now. My movies hardly ever have a defined script. Improv can make for a fantastic show. >=D
15.
Agreed. I'm going to see if Justin can remove this feature as soon as possible. That is, unless Desbreko can do this...but I'm not quite sure how difficult it is to take this feature out of vB itself.
If it's possible, it would be better to remove it for everyone who isn't a mod. I don't know anything about what it would take for something like that, but I've read lots of moderator's posts about a time when the read receipt function helped them decide on whether to ban or not ban an out of control member. I'm waiting on a read receipt acknowledgement myself.

6-6-06
First of all, the date isn't even 6-6-06. It's 6-6-2006. Secondly, after the apocalypse ends today, the Easter Bunny and I are going to be having dinner at the North Pole with Santa, if anyone's interested in joining us. We're having frozen foods. Edited so the idiots who reply after me can see that it's NOT 6-6-06.
If you're going to type out the whole year, why not just make it June 6, 2006? It's not 6-6-6. It's not 6-6-06. It's 06-06-06. Crazy tinfoil hat wearers. (Wouldn't that include me?) tin foil top hat. and lightsaber. Well, the day's almost over down here, and there's been no seven plagues, no splitting of the eastern sky, no beasts breathing fire, no witnesses at the wall, no catastrophe, and no demon possessed rapists. At least not around my city. But there is/was a demon movie marathon on the Monster Channel. Yay, Monster Channel. Oh yeah, it is D-Day, isn't it?
17. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to do it. I absolutely love making satirical short movies, which, more often than not, contain spoofs of horror movies and such. I would have so much fun making a series of satirical horror shows based on campy classics and whatnot. I really hope this thing can come together, because I'm super eager to work on it! I have a feeling I'd call it "Hallowe'en Cinema," and I'd bring my sisters and friends into the works to peak the plot of each show. =D! Count me in!
18. Erkay! I overcame my obstacles (of which there were many) and managed to halfway complete Han-ki-tae's character (I'm nervous about posting images). Yech, my scanner is horrible, and my coloring is so bad, it might as well be done by a person with no arms. Anyway, the doll she's holding has pins in it's head, and it's smoking a little. I took the background that you mentioned in the PM and put in a little dark humor. Hope you don't mind. =P Here's my character: Jager Garnrolle. He's quite tall and muscular, and he doesn't know what the heck he is (though he does have a huge fox tail). I never draw him wearing the same outfit, so whoever claims him can feel free to dress him up differently. I never draw him without his little blue flying fox friend, either, but if you absolutely don't want to, I can forgive you. =);; He's also blind, so his eyes are always closed. Other than that, have fun. (BAH, the picture's quite small. I'll try to resize it later).

6-6-06

Let's not forget the sixth of every month in 1966, either. I checked wikipedia and absolutely nothing bad in history has happened on a 6-6-06 or x-6-66 day. Save for some activist getting shot...but that hardly counts as apocalyptic. Besides. It's not 6-6-6, it's 6-6-06. The extra digit negates all Satan crap! So, it's been a pretty normal day for me, other than the 666 myspace profile views I had for a while. I woke up earlyish, got on the computer, drew something, and then I went to Borders and bought AFI's new album, Decemberunderground. I also got fast food for lunch. I sure hope I don't have a heart attack. Now I'm either going to stay inside all day, or go out. I don't think my mom will let me go to Sam Ash without a helmet, or when my dad is at work (?!?), so I'll probably just stay around the neighborhood. I AM going to make a tinfoil top hat, though. My supposedly genius friend is afraid to go out because of crazy people fearing the end of the world. He says he knows a ton about human nature, but I've been out all ready and no one is losing their mind. What a loser!

Yay, I finally got one. >=D!! It's the girl, correct? Do you want me to leave her without facial features? And do you need just that much of her, or should I do a full body and improvise for her bottom half? (I don't like drawing girls all that much, but I'm going to grab whatever I can!)

MySpace

Yeah, I have a myspace. I've been waiting for my parents to interrogate me about the internet and lecture me about predators or whatever. I'm not stupid. I know how to handle something like that. My profile doesn't share any important information at all. It says I'm ninety-nine, that I live "not in finland" and my hometown is "nightmares," that I'm two inches tall. It doesn't have any contact information (I hardly use the email address I signed up with), and yes, it has pictures. I don't see how pictures can put me in danger if there's no way anyone knows where I am. The only problem is that my profile isn't private due to the age of ninetynine, and the majority of my 9real life) friends list their actually location. I'm thinking about putting my age around one or two, if it will let me do that, so I eliminate this idea. I also don't like to friend people I haven't met in real life unless I've known them previously. The majority of my friend requests come from bands, though. I use myspace because it can relieve boredom, and it's a way to leave friends notes that they can read, because I might not have their email address or whatever. I also use it for music, and I often leave comments for my favorite bands to (hopefully) read. Since I try to maintain a band, it's useful for that sort of thing. Holy crap. I have 666 profile views on 6/6/06. =(
22. While they're not conventionally mystical creatures, I would have to say either Saiyans or Pokemon. Saiyans intrigue me to no end. Dragonball Z was probably the first anime I saw and loved, and I still like it a lot. I love that Saiyans can raise their energy so high that even their appearance changes, and tails are pretty darn awesome. Pokemon are the same in that I love the franchise, and constantly wish that they were real. I think that catching them and strengthening them would make life so much better. Other than that, I really like vampires and werewolves. I created a breed of elf that was basically a humanoid werewolf, called Snow Elves. They have fangs, black claws, and the keen senses of a wolf. Their skin is unusually pale, and they sunburn very easily. Snow Elves are naturally vain and sophisticated, but like a challenge every now and then. They play an important part in my book idea, "Seven Swords;" especially the one called Opallo. The other Snow Elves are Leif Amarillo, Azhiroth Grav, and Amelia Revenant (whom I liked so much, I stole the name for myself >=D).
23. There's only one song that had a single part that I fell completely in love with, I think, and that's "Slaying the Dreamer" by Nightwish. Near the end of the song, it breaks down into this amazing segment that compels you to crank up the volume and headbang until your neck breaks. I always explain it as "DUN. DUN. DUN DUNNA NUNNA NAAAH!" And it's extremely powerful. After that, the bassist, Marco, starts screaming an angry rant that just furthers the need to thrash around like a viking covered in poisonous, steaming mosquito bites. Urgh, I'm trying to think of other parts of songs, but nothing really comes to mind. Whenever I hear something I like played live, I tear up as I sing along and dance to it or something. At a Battle of the Bands I went to, a band (an EXTREMELY talented one, at that...I'd post their myspace link, but they took their music off) played "Unholy Confessions," and Ambuh (notorious best friend person) and I just sang along and went crazy. I'm pretty sure we were the only ones in the whole auditorium headbanging and thrashing about. Oh, also! At a Talent Show, a different band played Bohemian Rhapsody, and Ambuh and I sang along. She even headbanged all the way through the "...so you think you can stone me and spit in my eye..." part! Crazy girl. Okay, so they aren't exactly song MOMENTS, but I had to share my personal life story!
24. Suppose we could try again, but this time have sign ups as a preliminary thing (like some of the graphics contests). After a deadline is met (say one or two days), Sara, or whoever else is in charge of the thread, can make a schedule that shows the order of posting. Something like...: Person 1 Person 2 Person 3 Person 4 ...etc. The first person in the lineup will post their character, then Person 2 will redraw it and post their own character. That way, you don't have to worry about double posting or missing a post because the artist edited their original one. This will continue until the last person accepted posts their character, and the first person will redraw it. This will eliminate confusion and keep the thread from going on endlessly. It could become a annual-ish kind of thing, if it's really all that popular...and judging from the current response, it is. I'm just eager for my turn. :D
25. I guess I'll give it a shot. Though I'm nowhere near as skillful as most other people who'd want to participate...what could it hurt? =P;; I'm afraid they're all too big to post here, though, so here are the hyperlinks. love exists you are beautiful no one can see me ipod Photography in Love Exists and You Are Beautiful are by one of my best friends, Ambuh. The "no one can see me" picture from the AFI myspace, and I did a google image search for iPod for the last one. The smaller picture is of me, by me. I did all this in about an hour or two...or less...on Corel Painter IX.
