Originally posted by Blanko "if you had to chose between your sonAND daughter which would you chose" that kind of question from the begginign makes little sence... if any to begin with.. for it to even seem somewhat like a question it should be "if you had to chose between your son OR daughter...bleh bleh bleh"
So you're telling me, if you ever have to choose between life and death, you're gonna try and go for some third option? the key thing is the word "between".. it can be worded in two ways: If you had to choose your son or daughter, and If you had to choose BETWEEN you son and daughter so no.. he actually worded it right.. but the riddle was terrible.. ENIGMA:
You tell him he's going to kill you with a spell..
I think.. o_O.. I haven't heard that one before but it makes sense..
if you tell him he'll kill you with a spell, then he can't kill you, because if he kills you with a spell, you were telling the truth, and he should kill you with a sword.. but if he kills you with a sword you were lying, so he should kill you with a spell.. so he can't do either
It seems very stupid to me.. Personally I think the whole war thing is very irrational.. but this.. re-naming food because someone doesn't agree with you? how petty can you get?.. The majority of England doesn't agree with this war, despite the fact that our prime minister does.. and the majority of europe doesn't either. The American leaders should just accept that and perhaps pay a little attention to other people's viewpoints rather than doing something petty like this.

I'd pick neither, then say "before you point to a road, bear in mind that you are going first..." but seriously.. I actually don't see how there's a right answer to this.. however, the guy never said the son or daughter was actually going to die. The question was purely hypothetical. From what I gather you're on your own (ie your son and daughter aren't there, if you have any) and a guy appears and says he'll show you the right way if you answer a hypothetical question correctly. And since it's a purely hypothetical question (within another hypothetical question.. heh). Things like "I don't want kids" don't even apply. If I follow logic.. Assuming you can't have more kids afterwards (dunno why.. maybe in an accident you became impotent or something).. the son

I don't think I'm really that picky.. heh.. although really, appearances don't bother me.. I mean yeah, as James said, I, like anyone else, wouldn't like someone I wasn't attracted to.. I mean.. that's the whole point.. what I mean is I don't have a set ideal about what my ideal partner would look like.. cos it kind of varies, y'know. I always used to go for women either the same age or no more than 2 years younger.. whereas at this moment I'm actually pushing into the "a little older" region, which I found quite bizarre at first but hey.. it's not as if I'm going for a 40 year old (or even as little as 25) or anything like that (me being 20). but generally I like someone I can relate to. And me being me right now, that means ideally I'd have to have a Christian partner.. not because I'm descriminative of other races, but because you can't really get encouragement in your beliefs from someone of a different belief, or lack thereof. I'm not particularly bothered about intelligence as such.. not in the IQ area anyway.. as long as they're a decent person, fun to be with, and someone I can relate to I don't care what they do or don't know personally ^^.. in short, I'm never sure what I'm after, until I'm after it, pretty much sums me up.. ^^

Removal of Expectations is the key to contentment
Dan L replied to Harry's topic in General Discussion
(to Harry) Dude!.. that has to be your best post ever.. and I completely agree.. cos when it comes to planning stuff I'm absolutely terrible and nothing ever goes that way.. things work out far better for me when I'm spontaneous instead. -
Liberals or Conservatives: Who is the bigger threat?
Dan L replied to Harry's topic in General Discussion
Originally posted by gokents What was the very next post after that...? A long spew about bush and saddam.
correction: The second half was a fairly short spew about Bush and Saddam, when taken out of context.. but the first half was actually about the topic of the thread.. and when the second half of the post is taken into the context of the first, it isn't really off topic at all.. As opposed to previous posts consisting of a sentence or two about why Saddam is bad, or something else along those lines w.r.t. the original topic.. I really have no idea, seeing as the liberal party over here (the liberal democrats) are kind of the third choice at the moment. Labour and conservative are pretty much as bad as each other though.. I'm probably more on the liberal side myself, but I wouldn't necessarily class either one as a "threat" -
*is lost in the psychodelicness* *falls over, giving it a 9/10* that's pretty good, in my opinion *thumbs up*
Originally posted by Blanko Heh.. I really am on that stupid no carb thing... my sister is like.... crazy... heh..
no carbohydrates seems pretty stupid considering they only turn to fat if you don't actually do anything.. it makes more sense to have a no fat diet but yeah.. anyway.. I think most special offers (over here at least) have a small print which says "only while stocks last". And obviously, they didn't last in this case.. still, I'm one of those guys who just can't deal with an unhappy customer so I'd probably try to find a way around, or call someone who could deal with an unhappy customer.. (not that I've ever worked in a fast food place, but you get unhappy customers everywhere..)
Originally posted by treton_noir 2. you have Professor Roy Hinkley (Gilligan's Island) there to make some sort of power source.
That, and Harry could use him for food once that runs out.. heh -
Originally posted by DarkOrderKnight I'd have to agree with Dues when he said that most religious attacks are toward Christianity.
I said that?. o_O.. I didn't mean to but heh.. maybe I did.. To be honest I don't mind a good religious debate.. it's when it turns into an argument that it just turns stupid.. but yeah.. If this thread turns into one big religious argument it'd be a shame.. -

hmm.. U2 - The Joshua Tree yep.. ^^ there was a brief moment where I nearly said "Atchung Baby" but there's no competition with the Joshua Tree. -

Dan L replied to Soulstone's topic in General Discussion
Firstly, that was pretty well written.. and not long ago (about a year) I would have agreed totally.. but now I don't completely.. just don't take this as a personal attack as such, but as a different opinion ;) I'm not in the mood for a quote-by-quote analysis, as I kind of feel that that's nit-picking in this case, and I don't think it does justice to your arguments, so instead I'm just gonna write a whole post without quotes. Note: references to faith are generally with regards to Christianity rather than religion as a whole, as I don't have much knowledge of other religions.. (You kind of set me going w.r.t. the philosophical approach) _____________________________________ 1- the issue of Faith Mortality, as you said, is something everyone should come to terms with at some point. It doesn't matter whether you believe man dies because of his sin, or just because he is not immortal, and it doesn't matter whether you believe there is something or nothing after death. The only certainty in the situation is death itself. Thus it is something you should expect sooner or later. Beliefs are all very well and good, but a man who believes purely so that he may not die, will never have a deep faith. Instead a belief should be worth more than that, one who is truly humble in beliefs will not fear the death he claims to deserve, whereas a man who wishes to be eternal alone is not as humble as he claims to be. Faith isn't merely a belief, but it is a way of life. A man with a deep rooted faith will not only believe, but he will act on his beliefs for he does not fear that others may think of him as weak, which they may, but only those who acknowledge their weakness can hope to gain God's strength, such a man doesn't fear being told he is weak, as he already knows this. A man with a deep rooted faith also acknowledges his own failings, where he has been, and will yet be, much less than perfect. Through this he should put himself on equal ground with others, acknowledging that he is no better than anyone, and that he has no more right to call a man evil, than he has to be called evil by another. Sadly, the majority of Christian leaders do not see this when they read it, understand it when they hear it, or put it into action when they are instructed to do it, so instead the stereotype of faith becomes one of judgement, punishment, and condemnation. ________________________________ OK... after that.. o_O.. whatever that was, I'm gonna switch to my more usual style.. 2- The issue of proof When you say "you believe in nothing you can not prove", you are making a huge assumption. The assumption being that there is no evidence to contribute towards a proof of God. I study Physics and Biochemistry at uni, and I've been scientifically minded for 9 times longer than I've been a Christian (I don't count the first 10 years of my life as "scientifically minded", though I had no faith either), so I don't exactly take decisions like that lightly. And yet I still chose to believe in God.. why?.. well, I won't go into the details of how I got into the situation, but I felt something which I didn't feel from anything else, and I saw things which by my own scientific laws were impossible, or highly unlikely (highly unlikely). And this was just at a small, local church with a real faith for God. People who I'd never seen before said thing which just hit home.. and I don't mean like "well, if I choose to do this, then that, then you take this away, then it kind of sounds right", but rather "whoa, that was spot on". After not too long I started praying, and the prayers were always answered. By "answered" though, it doesn't mean "I always got what I prayed for". Sometimes you ask for something and you get told "no", purely because it's not really any good for you, much as you'd hate to admit it. None of that actually means anything to you though, because it's a very personal thing.. I can't prove God to you, using my own personal experience. There is proof, but you have to actually want to find it, or you won't, because no-one can prove it to you but yourself. ______________________________________________ That's about all I really have to say.. heh.. but yeah.. decent bit of writing, dude ;) -
Who would play you? Dunno.. can't think of anyone who looks a great deal like me.. heh.. let me edit that later.. What music would play when you were... Happy? 'Gareth Robinson- Good and Gracious'.. but probably without the lyrics.. Sad? 'Even In The Desert'.. it's kind of about the hope that's there even when things are bad In Love? 'Gareth Robinson- To Be In Love' confused? 'U2 - Love Is Blindness'.. that song just sounds really screwed up and confused, it's perfect What would happen in the end? I don't know.. and I hope that it stays that way for a while.. unless of course it ends before my death.. How long would it be? 2 hours maybe.. any longer than that and it may be good, but it'd just be boring..

oh right.. y'see I thought it was something like that but I thought they said
the last lunar cry] was on the Centra continent, hence there's nothing there anymore..
.. maybe I made that up in my head or something.. heh

If I'm sick enough to be affected in any noticable way, I'm usually far too busy being sick to be doing anything that requires inspiration.. so no.. I don't get inspired when I'm sick..

Hmmm... so I have a big, high-up, pyramid-sized ego, which is clear (it was glass) My friends are standing up pretty well without any support from me.. and my love interest is a great deal smaller and lower than me (or rather, my ego looks down on them) I hope that doesn't describe me very well..

Whenever I go somewhere I have to sit on the floor (like a youth Christian conference I was at in the summer) I prepare for agony.. I can't sit with my legs straight forward, without just lying down, so I end up crossing my legs.. which kind of hurts after your legs and feet go numb.. but I don't sit on my foot on a chair.. no way.. heh

my only criticism is that it doesn't flow very well, cos it kind of goes back to a black area.. but apart from that, cool..

I've been using liquid pretty much since James put it on.. cos I was talking to him on AIM at the time, so I knew when it went on.. heh.. but yeah.. me likes it..

One thing I just kind of wondered but never actually figured out... That big crater in FF8 (the vaguely star-shaped one), which you can't go over using the garden.. what exactly is it.. cos I have no idea.. I kind of had a few ideas but they've all been systematically proven wrong during the game.. so.. any know / have any ideas about it?.. (In case I was too vague, the crater is on the Trabia continent)
