In what I think, the games nowadays can't even be compared in funness to those of the pre-playstation era. I don't know, maybe the innovation and creativity's all been used before. Bleh. But, there certainly are going to be good games now and then, no matter what. Just believe that, and I'm certain you'll wait patiently.

Eh, isn't it an exploding star? Not certain. Eh. What's a nematacyst?

You know what? What somone does is actually made by who they are. And, opposingly, people are who they are because of what they do. It's all interchangable and rather contradictory. But, I'd have to say, that is, if I had to chose one of the two, I'd say who they are. It's a bigger part, I believe. Sure, someone can do something, possibly out of ability, or luck, but with who they are, it's something they can't really try to fake. Eventually the real them will come out, and even if that doesn't happen, it's very easy to tell if someone is being a liar or not. Plus, if I want to be friends with someone, if they're a wonderful drawer, ect, ect, but they're a complete jerk, then I won't be friends with them. That also further expresses my point that who someone is is really a much better part of the complexion of a human being.

Gurthang: They will taste mine blade as well. He withdrew his sword, Gurthang. They then approached the group of Orcs, and Tarlain quickly ran ahead of Gurthang, entering the fray. Gurthang stopped, surprised. Gurthang: But, you shall die! Let a man do a man's job! She only turned and looked up from the Orc she had slain and made a smirk.

Why 'm I here? Eh, it's a rather broad question, also a meticulous one. Well, mainly I'm here because, eh, well, I'm addicted to t'es boards. What caused the addiction? Well, all of the very interesting and varying people, and their replies and the such. Eh, also because I'm rather...shy. And anti-social. So in a way, t'is place is my l'il social corner. Heh.

Bottom line here: buy the real game. It's cheap, it's a wonderful and classic game, so why are you so apprehensive to shell out the slight dough needed? Bleh.

Gurthang: Alone, my fair maiden? Hah, you shall die on the stake. I shall go with you. Tarlain: If it must be so. Gurthang quickly walked over to his father, Eomer, and bade him good leave. He then returned to Tarlain, and escorted her.

I believe you had no right to say that, you don't even know me. It's kind of presumptions to say something like that. I just was unclear as to exactly what happend. Geez, so bite me and call me frank.
Originally posted by gokents Mitch, whats your problem with my comments. I made a valid point that no one had made, and even if it was known by everyone, then why is this discussion even up here. I mean, my point in this reply is, why pick on me. Do the things I say bother you, And most of all, the point to the post I had put up that you qouted was not to show what will or may happpen with the subject, it was to avoid what you were saying. Why do something just to say "well atleast we tried." Why not try to come up with a valid solution and not do any futile efforts in the mean time. That way, when our solution is finally at hand, we can use it and say "well, we took care of that."
I have no problems with your points. They are valid, and they have meaning. I wasn't saying you were a fool at all. Do some of the things you say bother me? Certainly. Not in a bad way, no. It's just that some of the things you say are uneducated and based purely upon what you find factual, or not so. But, I'm also uneducated in some views, so I really have no right to condemn you in that action. Now, as for why do it and say 'at least we tried'. Well, it is also human nature to try and make what little penance we can seemingly obtain for our errors, or errors of others. To tell you the truth, there really isn't anything better that they could do other than banning the word. I mean, there really isn't a way we could ever fully extinguish prejudice from our society. It's a part of our society in a twisted way, it's our human nature, our very contradiction upon our judgement.
Originally posted by gokents The above example about the word "gay" for example. Why would you want to ban it, because people are making offensive comments? Well dont you think the second you ban "gay" another even more offensive one will be brought up and used offensivly. Ban that one too you say, another after that will come up. The whole time the real issue will be some sort of prejudice against "gays." So instead of dealing with that issue, lets just make special allowances for "gays," that way they keep quiet and the rest of us can just try and ignore them. ( I have no desire to ignore homosexuals, nor any prejudice for them)
Gokents, don't you think that's already known? I mean, it's basic human nature, prejudice is, everyone's been prejudice more than once. It's human nature. There's nothing wrong with at least trying to topple it. Even if it may be hopeless, at least then they can say they tried. It certainly wouldn't make people stop magically being prejudice forever and after. Of course not. It would do the almost opposite I believe, it would cause the word gay to be used that much more as prejudice in its context.

Do something to expel that strong negative energy from your mind. Something that puts it to good use. Such as I usually write a poem or something of the such when I'm feeling like you are. I'll tell you, as you already know, it all piles up, like a trashcan, if you don't expel some, and it eventually topples over.
Originally posted by James Mitch, yeah...queer does have a meaning. But I was referring more to how it is used today. Over time, I think the meaning of the word has changed. And it really has become a slang term in a sense.
Heh, I'm oldschool man. To me it's always meant strange :) Yeh, I see what you're saying. But that still doesn't cover up that it really means strange, heh. But yes, I know exactly what you mean.
Originally posted by wrist cutter You'd have to make me moderator. THEN the boards would be cleaned up.
Lol, heh. Well, I really have no clue as to where the boards may go. They might go to the trash, or they might stay forever. Really, who knows? Heh, I'd know that if James wanted me to, I'd certainly Admin. the boards.
Originally posted by James Homosexual is not an offensive word. It's a factual word. Just like heterosexual or something else. To actually legislate a word like that out of use is overzealous at best, in my opinion. Words like "queer", etc were all designed to be offensive...so they are different. They have no factual meaning, they're just insulting slang.
Actually James, queer does have a factual meaning. The factual meaning of it is 'strange'....such as I might use it in the context of a sentence like this: "It is certainly a queer day today, is it not?" or something of that sort. This brings up another good point--most words are offensive because people make them that way. A word alone cannot do anything without someone giving it a sense of meaning, of direction. That's why there's all this slang off of factual words which in their own right are not offensive. Now, as for the question, do I believe gay to be a bad word. It depends upon where it would be to be used, and whom or what it would be aimed toward. In all honesty, I myself sometimes use that expression that something's gay when I really loathe something, so, I guess I'm an idiot, heh. Anyways, gay is a very racial and prejudice word. Well, in its own right it isn't, but people make it that way. Thus, I do believe it would be possibly viable to place it on this so called list. I mean, if that's all gay is going to be used for--to cause pain and hurt--I believe that is a correct turn in measure. As for homosexual, that word isn't all to offensive. It can be, that is, and only if, people make it that way. Otherwise it doesn't seem as strongly prejudiced as the word 'gay'.
Originally posted by PiroMunkie You could very easily make that into a question: Who is like god, great blacksmith? So, in a way, it does make sense... assuming you are a great blacksmith, lol.
I'm not a great blacksmith, heh. So it doesn't work. Damn, and I could've used it...or something...to trick people into not knowing what the heck I'm talking about Oo
Originally posted by PiroMunkie Haha! Wow, if you put the meanings of my names together you get "god gave plum from the bright valley", lol. I also find it odd how in the musical Clue I was Professor Plum. It is almost like it was meant to be, heh. The only part I do not like about it is the first word. >_< *looks at it spitefully*
Lol, at least mine isn't that bad. My real name's, as I said, Mitchell Grant Smith...so, if you put that all together, it means who is like god great blacksmith Oo...it doesn't realy make sense. But, oh well, what do you expect?

Ah, Anne Rice. I just started reading The Witching Hour awhile ago. That book is so slow, and I'm already on page 300ish of 1000. Hopefully it'll get better. Well, it hasn't been that bad, but it's suddenly gotten slow again. Now, to the movie. Yes, it was a rather good movie. Althougn Brad Pitt's too good looking to be a vampire, heh.

I believe true intelligence is found through correctifying the wrongs and rights, via experience. But, there's also book smarts, and the whatnot else. Media, by no means, is complete intelligence. It has its intelligence increasing ways, but to truely be intelligent, one has to take the initiative to find it. As for society. Things such as TV only serve, as CWB said, to dumbify the country as a whole into believing that questions should not be asked, and that they should contrast their lives by it. Ah, yet again, this brings up another good thing. Farenheit 451. In the book, Montag's wife is consumed by her 'family' as she calls it. This 'family' is her 'viewing wall', a futuristic interpatation of what TV's would maybe once become. It's a large screen, four of them, covering all sides of a room. And in the society in the book, the people are not allowed to think, to ask why. They watch TV, they let that become their answers, let it entertain them. Also in this society, fireman do the ironic opposite of what they should. They burn books, and any people whom read them, and keep them. But, this is mainly done because these books would allow the people to 'think' 'ask' and 'wonder'. In the story, Montag is a fireman. He then comes across a peculiar girl, and his thoughts change. I'm not going to give it all away...because I've rather gone off topice, but, suffice to say, my main point is that is how our society may one day become. A mindless whole entity that never asks, only does.

You are welcome. We weren't saying you should tell, that's your decision through and through. I was just saying it would be the best thing to do.

Mitch replied to Syk3's topic in Otaku Central
I'm excited to see Trigun finally in its full. I've only boughten the first tape, so I'm going to be glad to see that. To tell you the truth, I haven't really been watching any Anime anymore, but I'm certainly going to too see Trigun. -
I suppose I'll check it out when it finally does come here to America. Also, I'm very excited about the game...it comes out sometime next year, early, I do believe. I'm very excited about the game. Only thing is, I've been really slow in my Anime watchings, since I don't even have a job yet, and am tight on money. But, I'm going to get a job soon, so I'll certainly try to purchase this when it comes.
