Well here I be after vacation, doesn't look like it's too far! :)
--------------------------------------------------------

Harru looked out the misty carrige window from the edge of his seat with slight anxiety, this was his first year at hogwarts, his first year away from his family. Wich wasn't at all a bad thing, because they never really seemed to act like family.

"Young Master Ashton, I would advise that you stay in your seat" A drawling, proper voice spoke from over his shoulder.

"Yes, Harris, I-I'm sorry." He appologised to the man sitting next to him, an ancient fossil of a man.

Harris had been his makeshift nanny and personal buttler for as long as he could remember, not very comforting as a child holding an age spotted hand and smelling musty robes covered by mint calogne everywhere he went. Harru was just glad he could get away from the old stickler, and have fun with people that weren't balding in Merlin's time. Harru Glanced out the window again at the school looming out of the wild, secretly hoping that no one would see his arrival. It was embarassing enough to have a reputation of a Castle brat, but to arrive in your own carriage according to your parent's will? That was terrible...

Harru swallowed down his fears as the carriage slowed to a stop in front of the grand oak doors. He could see that turning heads were pointed in his dirrection, as the driver hopped from his mount and went to open the cabin door. Harru heaved a sigh again attracting Harris's attention.

"Would it please Young Master Ashton to forget Hogwarts and learn at home as Mistress Ashton suggested?" Harris spoke in his usual monotone. Harru shook his head jerkingly, the last thing he wanted right now was to be dragged back home.

"No Harris, this will be fine, So, I shall see you......" Harru thought about hlidays and didn't even want to dwell on the thought for long, "...For Summer" Even admitting that was painfull.

"I see Young Master, But i have been advised to be here when the winter holidays begin, do you understand?"

Great, being found again in this stupid carriage.

"Yes Harris, I shall be going now." Harru fixed his Robes and hopped from the seat and out of the cabin so fast that the bony hand almost didn't catch him. Harru's white mopped head whipped around irritably at his reeking escort, "Yes Harris?"

"shouldn't I accompany you into the school Young Master?" It was more of a statement than a question.

"No, I'll be fine." Harru grinned meekly backing away into a line of younger students who eyed him with suspicion and humor.

"Your things will be taken inside then, Young Master" Harris called after him, rousing a collective giggle from a nearby group of girls.

Harru knew then, that this was to be an interesting year.

***

After what seemed a millenia later, Harru had near forgoten his arrival, but wasn't talking to any of the first year students around him. A great releif befell him though, when the sorting was to begin, announced by a proffessor in the front with a yellowed scroll.

Holy hell, I could write a novel eh?

OOC: Heh let's see if I can't liven the wait up a little O_o;;
~~~~~
The professers all sat at the front of the Great Hall, and the wait was making Ron decidedly uneasy. Maybe they realised I was coming... the thought struck him sudden. And they're going to throw me out before I'm even sorted! Then he paused, before reminding himself sternly that you can't be expelled for breathing. And he'd done nothing else since getting off the train. After all, he hadn't argued with Malfoy. No, that was Harry. Speaking of whom, Harry was looking pretty nervous too.
Then, from under Ron's feet, there was an almighty "RIBBET!" making some of the girls shriek in surprised horror, and take a few steps back. Surprised himself, Ron took a step back and looked down at the toad. It stared at him, it's large eyes bulging and gleaming black. Ron shuddered. He'd never liked frogs.
Hearing the shriek, one of the professors had come up to the crowd. "What's going on?"
Ron didn't like the way she was looking right at him, already. Fred and George've got me a reputation already... he thought angrily to himself, before saying, "there's a toad there miss."
"Where?"
"Right..." Ron looked down. "Well it was there." He looked around, trying to see where the unfortunate animal had hopped off to. It was unfortunate, you see, because when Ron got his hands on the slimey little beast it was going to wish it'd never been born.
"Well?" hissed the teacher, keeping her voice down as low as she could, even though the entire hall could hear exactly what she was saying.
"I... uhh..."
"Oh, c'mon!" Liz muttered under her breath. "How long could this possibly take? This must be some sort of torture they dreamt up for the first years!"
A boy off to her left began snickering, "You're American, aren't you?"
If there was one thing Elizabeth couldn't stand, it was being mocked. She turned to see an odd boy, wearing a scarf. He had insanely poofy, curly brown hair.
"Is there something wrong with my accent? At least I don't have a muggle afro!"
The boy shrugge nonchalantly, "It was more the impatience that gave you away. Americans have no sense of waiting patiently. For them, everything has to be now, now, now! It's quite amusing, in fact."
"You don't look like you're enjoying the wait!"
He shrugged again, quite smugly (oh, how that irked her), "I didn't say I enjoyed waiting. But I'm not complaining about it either."
The two children were silenced by a glare from the forbidding Professor McGonagall. Liz turned away from the rude boy and proceeded to ignore him. She was quite struck by the way she could be so shy and timid until a smart ass started hackling her.
"Well," she thought to herself, "that's 2 people who I need to avoid now. This is looking like a rather promising school year..."
OOC: Okay, if I'm not mistaken, we still have 2 ppl who haven't posted yet. One of them is older, so she really doesn't need to post before the sorting. The other is Malfoy (I think). Since he's a main character (as in, from the books), he really doesn't require opening exposition. Could we just go, duo? Please?!? :p I could always take Pippin hostage... *cackles evilly*
OOC: Alright I think we've waiting long enough. I guess certain people are just ignoring me, or don't want to be apart of our story. But for those of you who were nice and waited, here we go!!!
Karen looked at the American girl and couldn't help but smile. "She's going to be fun," she thought to herself.
"Quiet down," the old lady in front of the first years said as she walked over to the side, and revealed a stool, on which was placed a very worn and teathered hat.
"Is this some sort of test?" Harry whispered to Ron. Karen had just begun wondering what the point of the hat was when it seemed to rip open at the brim, and started to sing: (i don't want to copyright enfringe so i won't write the song).
The hat sung about the four different houses. How Gryffindor was where the brave and daring made their home. How Hufflepuffs were patient, loyal, and true. "That probably won't be that American," Karen thought How Ravenclaw were witty, and smart, and always of ready mind. The Slytherins, cunning folk who would do anything to achieve their goals.
The entire audence burst into applause as the hat finished it's song. Ron let out a sigh of relief once it had finished. "All we have to do is put it on! Fred had said something about having to fight a troll..."
Harry smiled back at him as he clapped along with all the other students. The old lady once again resumed her post at the center of the students, this time with a piece of parchment in her hands.
"When I call out your names, come and put the Hat on, and then take your seat at your house table." Karen was starting to feel really nervous. I hope i get put in Gryffindor she quietly prayed to herself. The old lady cleared her throat and began to shout out the names.
"Harru Ashton" the prof. called. A young boy with shaggy white hair walked up to the stool and put the hat on.
"SLYTHERIN!" the hat shouted out. The Slytherins clapped loudly as Harru went to join them. The noise quieted down as the prof. said the next name.
"Karen Black". Karen swallowed hard as she walked past Ron and the new friends she had made on the train. She walked up to the stool and put the hat on. She heard a voice inside her head."Well, well, well. Who do we have here? Ah, i see. I know just where to put you!"
"GRYIFFINDOR!" the hat shouted out. A wave of relief swept through Karen's body as she ran over to Fred and George, who where yelling there lungs off. The rest of the Gryiffindors where clapping as well. The hall quieted down once again.
"Alex Firebolt". Alex walked up to the stool, her hair changing colors as she walked.
"HUFFLEPUFF!!" Alex ran over to the Hufflepuff table as the hall grew louder and then quieted back down.
"Hermione Granger." Hermione was talking quietly to herself as she walked up and slammed the hat down on her head.
"GRYIFFINDOR!!!" Hermione ran over to the table and sat down next to Karen.
"Elizabeth Jones" Elizabeth walked up to the hat and put it on.
"RAVENCLAW!!"
"Draco Malfoy". Malfoy walked over to the hat, but it never made it to his head before it shouted. "SLYTHERIN!" Malfoy smirked as he walked over to the table.
"Remus Mythen". Remus walked up, looking slightly nervous, and put the hat on. "GRYIFFINDOR!" Remus went and joined the Gryiffindor table, looking slightly relaxed.
"Harry Potter." The room fell silent as all eyes where on Harry as he went and tried the Sorting Hat on. There was a moments pause, in which it seemed everyone was holding their breathe. "GRYFFINDOR!!"
The entire side of the Gryiffindor hall went crazy as people, such as Fred and George, where yelling "We got Potter! We got Potter!"
The old lady cleared her throat once more and read: "Illidas Sigma." The young boy with brown hair came up and tried the hat on for himself. "SLYTHERIN!"
The Slytherin table once again cheered as Ron was now the only one left.
"Ronald Weasley." Ron shiffted his steps a little as he walked up to the stool. Fred and George where pratically standing on the table, waiting to see what their little brother would get sorted into. Ron put on the hat, which went slightly over his face.
"GRYIFFINDOR!!"
Fred and George led the yelling that followed as Ron came and joined his brothers, and his friends at his table.
Karen looked up as Ron joined the table, and sat down next to Harry. She looked at the people who where surrounding her. The Weasleys, Remus, Hermione, and Harry. Never before had she felt such an eminse wave of happiness sweep through her body. She knew that she could be happy in this place, with her new friends. Karen watched as the old man stood up ready to speak. She was ready to start her new life.
OOC: *wips away sweat drop* that took awhile but here we finally are! Let the story start again!! :)
OOC: I guess it's the next morning now....And if nobody has any objections I suppose Draco will be a free controlable character.
-------------------------------------------
Harru didn't sleep well that night, being how he was in a very different place for the first time in his life. The other Slytherins weren't really a friendly bunch, and the other houses didn't seem to be any different torwards him.
Maybe it's just me...
Harru thought as he quietly dressed amongst the snores of his roomates, One large thug of a boy named Goyle, an oppinionated brown haired boy and Draco who had a fit of not getting his own room.
Harru didn't mind other people at all actualy, since he was never really allowed to have any privacy whatsoever, countless years of being followed around a castle with an aging bag of bones was nowhere near as bad as sharing a room with three other boys. Harru Adjusted his silver and green Tie once more before he quietly slipped out of the room.
***
The lunch hall wasn't as full as he had imagined it would be, figuring some students like his room mates were still sleeping, it was only six in the morning after all. He took a seat at the Baron Slytherin Table helping himself to some bacon and pumpkin juice, listening to the quiet chit-chat of the other students.
Remus sat on the window sill of the domoramtry with his arm outstretched and a large long-earred owl on his arm. He called it Falco, it was black and grey and a fast owl, plus it was one of the most perious breed in his eyes. Remus wasn't going down for anything to eat.... not yet. He'd rather stay in the common room.
"Send this letter to home, and come back even if they don't reply." Remus said. He said 'they' as his parents. He lifted his hand and the owl spread out its wings and flew out of the window and into the air. Remus jumped down and began to walk down the staricase. Harry and Ron had already left for breakfast.
--
Remus sat down in the common room staring at the sphere he brought with him which was a gift from his grand father. It was blue, and clear, but didn't do anything. Maybe it did, but maybe it didn't.
Oh well... this won't be long... oh... yeah... also a year. I'm used to being alone, but not this alone. Remus thought to himself. The common room wasn't crowded, it seemed Remus was the only one here...
OOC: So do we have a Harry yet?
-------------
Illidas woke up and threw on his scarf. He walked towards the common room and noticed that everyone was either asleep or eating. He walked out the portrait and went to go eat.
He sat down at the Slytherin table and started eating.
'So,' he thought, while looking around the Slytherin table, 'I wonder what kind of reputation this group has... By the looks of it they seemed rather unfriendly and very self-absorbed'
He ran his hand through his hair.
'Arg... It's impossible to get this hair any other way... Of course, it is starting to grow on me'
He paused.
'That has to be the most horrible pun in existence...'
Hermione awoke early and excited. The first day of classes! She hadn't gotten to know many people besides the inept boy who lost his toad on the train. His name was Nevil. He was a nice boy though. She couldn't believe that she had actually met Harry Potter. That had been the highlight of the train ride. She wanted to come across his patha gain, but that red headed boy had been rude to her.
She dressed and headed to the dining hall. She spotted Karen, the girl who had been with Harry yesterday and asked if she could sit with her. There was another girl there too. The formal introductions commenced and Hermione sat. "So, are you really excited about classes?" Hermione asked the other girls.
"Are you kidding? School is nothing to be excited about. I am nervous though." Karen replied. As she did they three girls were joined by Harry and Ron.
"Have a good nights sleep?" Karen asked Ron as he sat down beside her. Harry sat down next to Hermione, across from Ron.
"Yep. The bed's are nice and soft!" Ron leaned into Karen. "Better than the ones back home."
Karen couldn't help think that this was true, but she didn't want the others to know what they were talking about, seeing as how they were all looking at them.
"Why do you care about the beds?" Hermione asked. "The school is what you should be worried about! Today's our first day..."
"Well, duh," Ron cut in. She ignored him and contiuned.
"And i personally can't wait to learn about magic! I mean, I hardly knew it existed until I got my letter!"
Ron snickered, as Karen hit him in the side. "Not everone is from a full-blooded family like us." she said. Hermione glared at Ron, as a wierd sound made it's entrance into the hall.
"Look!" Harry said as he pointed up. Hundreds of birds, owls, in fact, where soaring through the windows of the castle hall. Harry, and Hermione looked on in awe as Karen looked up and saw what she was looking for.
"Grant!" she said, as her owl flew down to her, holding a letter in his beak, and a paper in his feet. Karen took the letter from his mouth, as he nipped her playfully. She handed the letter to Ron as she untied the paper from his foot.
"It's from your Uncle," Ron said as he was about to open it, but Karen ripped it from his hands.
"Read this. I'd like to keep my letters to myself thank you very much." She said as she shoved the paper into his hands.
A brown owl came down and landed in front of Hermione.
"What...what is this?" she asked as the bird looked right at her.
"Take the letter," Karen instructed her as Hermione grabbed the letter, and the bird flew off.
"Look" Ron read as he opened the paper. "They still haven't caught that person doing those killings." he said as he showed the paper to Karen. Karen looked at the picture, which was of the forest where the attacks where taking place. The people where moving, as if looking for something.
"What are you talking about?" Hermione asked.
OOC: Erm, I didn't know what to write so i didn't post, sorry for the late appearance.
Draco was at the great hall eating breakfast with his thugs, Crabbe and Goyle when suddenly an owl came to the Gryffinddor table towards a chubby kid named "Neville Longbottom" and dropped an orb.
"A remembrall, from my grandmother, it's supposed to turn red if I forgot something," commented Neville. When he caught the remembrall, it immediatly turned red. "What did I forget...."
"What a brainless git," insulted Draco. His chronies chuckled a bit then continued grabbing everything in their reach. "Crabbe, Goyle, keep an eye on that Harry Potter."
Remus stepped out of the common room and began to make his way down to the hall, or whatever. He was really regrating coming here now, just another reason for his parents to ignore him. Oh well... lonely or not, Remus couldn't careless he had a sink feeling he wouldn't reach the age of 18 anyway. Remus made his way down to the table of his house, looking down at the floor as normal. He saw Karen, Ron, Harry and Hermione and a few other girls. He made his way too them and sat down oppisite Hermione and Karen looking glum and bored.
"What's wrong with you?" Karen asked him. Remus shrugged.
"Ever thought you've gotten yourself into a big mistake and can't get out until it's over?" Remus mumbled. Karen nodded, either not knowing what he was talking about, or had been in a sticky mistake.
"Uhh... Well..." Karen started. Remus looked up and sighed.
"I'm in one." He replied leading on his hand.
"Oh come on! It will be fun!" Hermione said to him. Remus rolled his eyes.
"Problem is, you're not like me, you can make friends easier while I'm normally the one who scares people off. I'm no good in situations with people in it. As much as I hate being alone, I'd rather be alone than with people and things. It's just the way I am." Remus replied looking over at a few other people. Remus looked at what Karen and Ron where looking at before. "What's that?" He asked.
"That's what I wanted to know." Hermione said. Remus caught a glimpse of the picture and shrugged.
"Oh... I know about that... still, it seems like it's taking about a world I'm not part of." Remus said.
"What do you mean?" Asked Karen.
Harru gave a sidelong glance to Draco who didn't even seem to acknowlage him today, all as well since he had already gotten himself a pair of "friends" to werak havoc with. Harru sighed pushing his plate away from him watching the last of the Letter owls take flight to their designated tower. Nobody would write him this year, it's not like they needed a reason. Harru did however have a pet, his one true friend Thimbal, a pocket Gryffin, but unfortunately he had to leave him home.
An elbow butted Harru in the side irritably as a small stack of cards was pressed into his hand.
"Ah, Our scheduals are being passed out." An older student remarked looking over his own card.
Harru pulled his card from the stack and passed the pile along, hearing moans of dissapointment or gleefull laughter depending on the classes ordered. Harru looked down the list of classes on his card, it seemed he'd have a full day ahead of him, nothing short of exciting at Hogwarts, that was for sure...
"Let's see, Transfiguration first with Gryffindor" He spoke quietly to himself.
"Gryffindor?!" A fourth year girl sitting accross the table from him squealed, "Ooh that's a rotten house that is, nothing but a bunch of do-gooders, stuck up brats if you ask me."
Her volume drew attention furthur up the table receiving grins and small applause, it seemed that The Slytherin Table wasn't the only group of students that had heard the remarks, for a few heads at Gryffindor turned to look as well.
One Boy in particular met eyes with Harru, He had a wild mop of black hair, and the clearest of green eyes hidden behind round glasses along with a small wiry build that wasn't that much different from Harru. A deep burning anger grew inside of the young Slytherin student that he couldn't explain, when he suddenly heard:
"Kill him, He must Die!"
inside of his own head! Harru averted his gaze to his clenched hands that were clammy with sweat.
"That's Potter" Draco hissed at him from around Crabbe, "Remember that Git I always used to tell you about?"
"uh, yes" Harru lied, He couldn't even remember his age because he was terrified of the hate and anger that dissapeared as suddenly as it appeared. Without hesitation Harru stood from the table and made a beeline for the exit as quickly as possible, he needed space away from this boy before class started.
"Some people have no manners," Hermione replied as everyone turned back around from looking at the Slytherin table. "Well, what about this story?" she said again turning back to Karen and Ron.
"Well, I guess you wouldn't have heard but there have been some incidents lately of people who have been camping in the forest and well, have just disappeared. People go to search for them, and when they find them...they're dead."
"Which forest is this?" Alex asked.
"It's a forest called Kilkia. And actually, it's really not that far from where we are." Karen replied.
Alex looked a little frighten by this fact, as her hair changed color.
"Don't worry," Hermione said in her airy voice. "Nothing can get through the defenses of this castle!"
"And how do you know that?" Ron asked as he looked at her.
"It's all in Hogwarts: A History. I've read it."
Ron rolled his eyes, as Prof. M. handed out the schedules.
"Looks like we have Transfiguration first," Remus said as he glanced at his schedule. "What's that?"
"Just stop," Ron said as he picked up his bag, and motioned toward Hermione as she started to open her mouth. "Let the man figure it out."
"Come on Remus," Karen said as she too grabbed her bag and slipped her letter inside of it. "It's going to be fun!"
Remus looked slightly confussed as he grabbed his bag.
"Oh man. We're having it with the Slytherins," Ron said as he checked his schedule again.
"What's so bad about that?" Hermione asked.
"You'll see," Ron replied as he lead the group out of the great hall.
"See ya later, Alex!" Karen called as she followed suit.
Elizabeth woke up suddenly to realize that all the other girls in her dorm were gone. She quickly threw on her uniform and rushed from the Ravenclaw common room trying to find the Great Hall. Liz generally had a good sense of direction, but everything about the castle seemed to be constantly changing.
After 20 minutes and 3 wrong turns, she reached the Great Hall just as some of the first years she'd seen the night before left the room. She began walking to the Ravenclaw table, but, as she passed her cousin, Draco called out mockingly, "Would you like to sit with us, Liz? You look like you could use a few friends."
She glanced over at the Ravenclaw table, and, upon seeing no other first years, relunctantly sat down with the Slytherins, as far from Draco as possible.
The boy with the curly brown hair, who she remembered as Illidas, noticed her and called out, "Ah, so it's the Yank!"
Liz responded with a cold glare, "I have a name thank you very much fro-boy!"
He shrugged and turned back to his food.
"This is going to be a really bad year if I don't make some Ravenclaw friends soon!" Liz thought to herself.
Harru sat quietly in the back of the transfiguration classroom, hands clenched in his lap. Proffessor McGonagle(sp?) Stood Idly at the front of the classroom by her desk sorting out papers and scrolls. Morning sun poured into the room from the tall glass windows on the left side of the room that reached from your waist up to the ceiling. The golden warmth spread accross two rows of double seated tables onto the right wall adorned with charts of written spells and a few moving pictures.
Harru took a deep breath as he pulled a thick leatherbound book from his bag with TRANSFIGURATION LEVEL 1 etched in gold accross its surface. He looked around the empty room, the heard the footsteps and tell tale voices of approaching students.
"Please, don't let potter be in this class, please" He begged quietly to himself. The little episode of internal hate and terror was enough to send him back to his room this morning. But he had to do his best, he had to be the best, or be sent back home.
"I don't want to go back there, ever."
"you don't have to"
Harru started, jumping a bit in his seat, He looked about the room to see who had spoken to him. The classroom was still empty spare him and the Proffessor, who couldn't even hear his own thoughts. He sighed again.
"Calm down Harru, you're just getting jitters from your first day, I bet this happens to a lot of first years." He assured himself reaching into his bag to retreive his quill and ink.
"Not many first years are quite like you"
Harru gave a yelp jerking his hand from his bag. A small drop of blood lay still on his finger from a small self inflicted wound.
"Is everything alright?" The proffessor asked from the front of the room hearing his shocked cry.
"Y-Yes Proffessor, I just pricked myself on my quill" He held it up as to show proof, but what was really worrying him was that voice. That wheezy high pitched voice.
The subject no longer dwelled on his mind, as he watched a small group of students file into the room, looking for suitable seats.
"Herbology first," Elizabeth thought to herself. "We have it with the Hufflepuffs."
Liz began walking outside, several steps behind the other Ravenclaw girls. They all seemed to have become friends quite quickly since the night before. She glanced over at the Hufflepuff girls and noticed one who's hair was rapidly changing color.
"I remember her from last night!" Liz thought.
The girl seemed to be somewhat alone, so Liz approached her cautiously.
"Hi, my name's Elizabeth. What's yours?"
"Alex," the girl replied with a smile. "Do you know anything about herbology?"
"Sure! I've always loved plants! I'm really excited to learn more about them!"
"I heard we have to partner up. Do you want to work with me?"
"That sounds great!"
"It seems like I'm making a friend," Liz thought.
Remus looked around for a seat near his 'friends' or whatever, but quickly sat down next to Hermione since there was no were else. Karen and Ron where behind them, and Harry was somewhere nearby too.
Hey look Remus you found yourself a group of friends! He said to himself, not knowing if he was being stupid or just honest. Everyone seemed nice in this class, but the Slytherins seemed... bad. That kid with the white hair looked a mean nasty little kid.
Isn't he that Malfoy kid? Oh well... Remus thought. He still didn't have a clue what this class was about.
What is trans-whatcha... thing... damnit! Remus said to himself. He sighed heavily.
"Hey, d'you know what Transfiguration is about Hermione? Sounds stupid, but I have no idea." He asked the girl beside him. She was about to answer, but the teacher started talking.
Nice timing... Remus said to himself.
OOC: Sorry, I've been away.
Hermione walked to transfiguration with the others from the table. They all seemed really nice except the red haired boy. She had not had a chance to open her letter that she had received at the breakfast table. Her curiousity was piqued, but she was so excited about classes that she decided it would wait for lunch.
As they reached the classroom, she was somewhat happy to see the quiet boy, Remus, sit next to her. It kept the red head away.
Hermione kind of liked this Remus boy, though he did seem a little insecure. She thought that he seemed very nice, but lonely. She turned as he started to ask her questions about class. She was elated to think that someone might be as excited about classes as she. As she was about to answer his question, the teacher began to speak, and she immediately turned around.
As she whipped her head around to the front, she caught sight of Malfoy staring a hole in their direction. She wondered what is was that made him look so angry all the time. He doesn't seem very nice at all. He's got those yes-man cronies as well... I think I shall try and stay away from him. At this point the teacher had turned herself into a cat and there was a murmur amongst the students. Hermione became sure then that she is going to love Hogwarts.
Karen took her seat next to Ron as she entered the room. She saw a kid sitting all by himself as she entered, and was about to ask him what was wrong, but decided to stick close to Ron and the group.
Karen knew what this class was about. She'd read books about it before, espically the part that pertained to warewolfs. She probably knew it better than anyone else, but she decided to keep quiet. "I don't want to look like a show-off or something. Espcially since i've made some nice friends."
Karen watched as more students filtered into the room, Malfoy amoung them. He gave an evil glance in their direction, and Karen figured she was looking right at Harry, who was seated behind Ron and herself. It looked like he was about to open his mouth and shout something, when the Professor magically entered the room. She had been just a small cat sitting on the desk, now she was standing right in front of them.
"That was awesome, miss!" came a voice that Karen did not know.
"Why thank you Dean." Prof. M. said. "Now, who can tell me what transfiguration is?" she asked.
Hermione shot her hand in the air, ready and willing to answer the question.
After hermione had answered the question above and beyond the call of duty she received a few dirty looks from other students, but Harry grinned at her as the Professor announced 5 points to Gryffindor. She felt only slightly embarrassed that she had been so eager. She got over it very quickly though. I have worked very hard, and I must prove that even though my parents are muggles, I do deserve to be here. I am surprised, however that Harry didn't know that. Isn't he supposed to be really great? Hermione finally returned his smile and then looked to Remus. "if you need help with your studies, I'd do that. You look like you may need a good friend anyway." She gave him a wide smile, thn returned her focus to the class work.
After class on the way out Ron sneered at her and called her a know-it-all. Karen broke in at that point, "Be nice, Ron. Just because she works harder than you do!" Hermione smiled at Karen while trying desperately to hide her contampt for Ron. At this point, she remembered her letter and went off by herself to read it. Just as she were about to open it, Remus appearred behind her.
"Thank you for offering to be my friend. I'm Remus, what's your name? I missed it on the train. Everyone else seems nice, but you're the first to offer to be my friend."
"I'm Hermione Granger, and it's nice to actually meet you, Remus. As I said before, if you need any help with your studies, I will be happy to do so. Right now, though, maay I be alone to read my letter?"
"Oh, of course, I'm sorry to have bothered you." They both smiled at each other on their parting. Hermione wondered who her letter was from. Her parents wouldn't send something by owl...She opened the envelop. Inside was a piece of black parchment that didn't appear to say anything. When she took it out of the envelope, it burst into flames. Her screams caught the attention of her new classmates.
Harru stopped sharply on his way to the next class when he heard someone scream. He veered off in the dirrection partly out of curriosity, and to get his mind somewhere else at the moment. Transfiguration with the potter boy had put him in a bad way, he was surprised he could even pay attention under the circumstances.
Soon enough he came to a small girl with fluffy brown hair, she was holding her books close to her in shock looking at a burn peice of parchment on the floor. She seemed terrified and for the most part alone. Harru hesitated before he approached her, eyeing her Gryffindor badge carefully, maybe he's be told off? He chanced it anyway, checking first to see if Potter was around.
"excuse me." Harru began, approaching the frightened girl, "Are you alright?"
Hermione Eyed him cautiously, he was a Slytherin and from what she heard, most were no good. But the boy seemed sincere, and obviously worried for her well being. She looked up at him timidly.
"well, There was a letter I received, and it just burst into flames." She looked down at her hands that were slightly burnt and beginning to sting.
"I see" Harru spoke softly looking at the charred remains of the letter on the coblestone floor, it looked like a prank, and a very childish one at that, seeing something like this made him feel sad for the fellow first year. He pulled a slivery white hankercheif from his pocket that had an Emerald H magicaly woven into it, He pressed it into Hermione's hand. She looked at him curriously.
"It'll help with the burn untill you get it treated at the infirmary"
"But I can't-" Hermione began, handing it back to him. Harru pressed it backto her hands.
"Keep it." He said with a ghost of a smile, one that used to exist years ago.
Before Hermione Could oppose again he turned heel and headed off into another hallway, feeling better about his deed, and forgotten about this morning's events. One close look at his classes card told him that he had Potions next.
Remus had just heard a scream and ran back to where Hermione was. He saw a kid walking away, and as he came up to Hermoine he asked her if she was ok.
"What ha-" He started, but before he could finish he lost his balance and slipped over onto his back. Remus blinked hard as a sharp pain went through his back, and Hermione looked over at him.
"Are YOU okay?" She asked staring down. Remus nodded slightly.
"...Ouch... what's wrong?" He asked stragging up. Hermione grabbed his hand and pulled Remus up.
"Nothing, just a scroll of parchment, it burned in my hands." She explained. Remus looked down and saw he hadn't slipped on anything, he must have tripped over his own feet, or maybe he just flew off balance.
"Oh... who was that guy?" Remus asked. Hermione shrugged. "What class do we have next?" Remus said breaking the silence.
Man this place just gets weirder by the second... Remus thought to himself.
There is no way I tripped over my own feet. Oh well, who cares it's not like I broke my back or something. He added in his head, then looked back at Hermione.
OOC: Well, well, Molleta, looks like all the boys are after you...lol..."Hermione the Bombshell"...it's got a nice ring to it...:p
Professor Sprout's class was fascinating. Liz soaked up all the information like a sponge. Slowly, she began to feel like her old self again, before her parents' untimely deaths. Having a new friend also helped. Even in one class period, she was able to determine that Hufflepuffs were quite friendly people and that the Ravenclaws tended to be quite bright like her.
The class ended as quickly as it began. Liz looked down at her schedule for her next class: Defense Against the Dark Arts with Hufflepuff. Liz tried not to shout for joy.
"We've got the next class together!" She said, turning to Alex.
"I know!" Alex nodded. "Most of our day is together!"
"By the end of the week, we'll be sick of each other!" Liz replied jokingly.
"I doubt it," Alex responded with a smile.
"I've definitely made a friend," Liz thought to herself happily as she and Alex walked in doors.
