Could I suggest something like at LiveJournal? You know, where you can replace 'Comments' with 'Growls', 'Tags' or something like that. I don't know how feasible it is but you know... it'd be a nice feature.

That sounds really excellent. I think all of those are great ideas. Can I ask one more thing though- that could [possibly] be applied to both OB and mO?

Sometimes I don't visit this place all of the time- but I need to come here to read PMs. Could you have some system, wherebye, as it does for a reply to a subscribed thread, it emails you what they wrote to you, and provides a quick link to the 'Reply' page? That would be incredibly useful, I think.

I don't have any complaints with any of the suggestions you put up there, and particularly like the section for 'Fields for: 'Currently Listening To', 'Mood'

That'd be wonderful. Much thanks Justin.
It should tell you, in your back room, how many friends you have so that you dont have to count them! Why not? can this be done?

-Peach
Why would you need to count them? Is that number really important? I don't see cluttering up the backroom anymore just to show a count of how many online friends you have.

Thats my opinion..

Well there is this thing I do. I look at my Guest book signings and see how many friends I have. I then compare the two and see if there was a person who signed my GB that didnt what to be my friend, or if I forgot to check out someone's site. That kinda thing. I just thought it would be helpful to know how many friends you have.

I think it would be a good idea if private messaging and fanart and wallpaper comments had html enabled. I tried to make my message in a specific color (using hex code) and it just came out black.

I also really miss the html helper. Posting in general just got harder after it was removed. I liked having the html tags insterted with a single click and then putting in the hex code I wanted. It also helped with images and links. I know some people prefer the drop down menu with the color or font names, but those give us less choices. Maybe we can have an option to change settings in the backroom, to switch between the old method and the new one. Or you can have the drop down menu with the color or font names, and then beside it an option button with a spot to put a hex code or font name of your choice if you want to use that instead.

Maybe we can make posting in myOtaku similar to that of Otakuboards. It's definitely a lot easier to personalize your posts here. I think this idea would be most realistic in private messaging because it's similar to email.

Oh, and why was linking disabled? It's even disabled in our own posts. I think it should be enabled again.
A way to link to specific archive posts would be brilliant.
Agreed. This is something I have thought about doing for quite some time, and would be very easy to implement.

I'll let Adam 'design' how he wants it and then I'll implement it soon enough.

A kind of 'Post Styles' thing for commenting would be nice. I use a different font/colour than the ones available, so it'd be nice if we could set our own font code so we don't have to type it in every time we comment. ~.~;

And yurs. Archives would be really nice. I really want to print out my myO posts so I can keep them safe somewhere, but it's hard to do that since the posts keep moving back each time.

Guest DarkWizard
One more suggestion. I think there should be something to block off swear words, or the ability to report an offensive post by someone. There are some posts by some myOtaku users that I have found to be offensive, or is flaming someone else. i suggest this to keep myOtaku a friendly community.

myOtaku's like, a place to express yourself so implementing a word filter could hinder some people's freedom of expression.

However, a sort of, user preference word filter would be a good suggestion. Such as, letting the user choose what kinds of things they would like to have blocked(ie: No blockage, no swear words are censored, mild blockage, offensive swear words are censored, complete blockage, all swear words are censored).

I don't really see how you could stop people from flaming others in their posts, really. Then a report an offensive post feature could be very time consuming since probably 1,000's of posts would be reported every day and the Admin's of the site would have to take a large chunk of their time to read through all of those posts that were reported, time that could have been spent doing things elsewhere on the site.

DarkWizard, please don't double post. It's against the rules here.

In reference to your questions, I have a few comments to make about that.

One thing we don't want to do at the moment is implement a censor of any kind. myOtaku is designed to be a place where you can write down your personal thoughts; it's a journal. There is a reason why none of the major online journal communities provide censors. And I think it's the same reason why we don't do it. We don't want to limit people's expression and we don't want to dictate what kind of content they can include on their page (although there are obviously some boundaries, like pornography and so on).

In terms of flaming, that's a different issue. We do want to keep myOtaku as friendly as possible and we want to avoid having members flame each other. If someone is posting offensive comments on your page, that would be considered a violation and it's something that we'd deal with.

Other than that, it comes down to a case by case basis.

In regard to background images, I'm not quite sure what you're talking about. We already allow background graphics to be put up, via the Style Editor. You may have to be more specific about that.

Vould you make it so whenever you do a simple action (like adding a Quiz, for example) you aren't taken back to the backroom just to see the confirmation/error message. It can get very tedious when trying to do something like adding and then displaying a quiz and you get redirected to the backroom after each action.

A mass delete Guestbook feature, or Guestbook flush feature, would be nice too.

You know how when you edit the Post Styles, you can do personalized editing on the post, but not the heading? See below.

That's the only way I could describe it. Sorry for the big image..

Much more advanced customization will be coming to myOtaku, however.. currently all of our efforts are pointed towards relaunching theOtaku at the moment. After October 1st, then we will have time to add more features and build upon what we currently have at myOtaku.
