Yuna entered the cave, she took a few steps in and stopped, allowing her eyes to adjust to the darkness. She could make out a few shapes of rocks faintly, but it was dark, with illumination from behind because of outside.

She cautiously walked forward, holding her arms out in case she bumped into something. Yuna wondered if even if there was a pokemon in the area, if she would be able to see it.

"Di....tto..." he called unsurely, he wasn't able to see either unless he crashed right into something or another pokemon.

There was a screech and something flew past them quickly. Yuna screamed and ducked, covering her head. She was afraid of things she couldn't see. It continued to screech as it flew around them, it seems they had disturbed it in some way. It flew behind her and shrieked, Yuna spun and saw it's shape illuminated by the light coming from the mouth of the cave, it was a bat-like creature. She threw her pokeball at it, hoping that it wouldn't suddenly move. It hit the creature on the head and it cried as it disappeared in red light.

"Zubat, the poison/flying pokemon. Capable of flying safely in dark places, it emits ultrasonic cries to check for any obstacles."

Yuna ran over and felt around on the ground, picking up the sphere. She raised an eyebrow, and grinned after hearing the information, it would come in handy indeed. She released the bat and it fluttered in front of her, she asked the Zubat to help her through the cave and to find more pokemon. Zubat flew ahead and emitted sharp cries to tell her where it was to help, unfortunately she got lost and fell into a hole, it was too deep that she wasn't able to climb out, and none of her pokemon could help in the least.

Ditto called sadly on her shoulder, and Zubat flew down and clicked constantly in apology. Yuna comforted the pokemon and it started to see if there was a way out. It shrieked frantically and she assumed a new pokemon had been found, maybe it could help her out. That was when she faintly saw the light of a pile of rocks moving and stretching out into a long chain.

Ada grunted as Pretty jumped out of her arms. Also, a Survivor Ball flew out of Ada?s backpack and released itself, the elegant Gardevior standing where the ball once hovered. Ada was too scared of the sparks to look funny, but Gardevior sensed her confusion.

?You?re in danger. Mortal danger. The Pokemon up there is Raikou, the Thunder Dog. He?s one of the oldest Pokemon in existence and in that same statement, one of the most powerful. Ada, turn away now.? It told her telepathically.

?Ling Xiayou. Get back in the tree. This one I need to handle on my own!? Ada called.

Ling Xiayou only nodded as she scampered up the tree and sat, her Pokeball in her hand. Ada waved her thanks and pushed forward into the sparks. Within two steps, Raikou revealed himself and released a Thunder attack at Gardevior.

She sent up a Light Shield and Ada yelled out to Pretty, ?Sing to him! Put him to sleep!?

Pretty nodded, shook off her fear and began to sing. The haunting melody slowly snaked itself around the forest and even Ling Xiayou began to feel drowsy. Ada could only keep her eyes open thanks to the electricity in the air.

Raikou showed no sign of sleep at first. He sent off another Thunder which shattered Gardevior?s defenses. Gardevior stumbled and Ada looked unsure. Gardevior then fell over asleep. Ada could have cursed. Raikou still looked strong and the electricity in the air was picking up, signaling another attack.

Just then, it all together stopped as Raikou also slumped over, his snores loud. Ada could have cheered, if she wasn?t afraid of waking the slumbering beast. Ada quickly tossed a ball out and waited. The ball shook, shook, shook and clicked with a satisfying sound.

?Raikou, The Thunder Pokemon, This POKEMON is supposedly descended from a lighting bolt. Its roar causes seismic activity on the ground.? The Pokedex chirped.

?We did it Pretty. You too, Gardevior. Great Job team. You deserve a rest, Gardevior.? Ada said, recalling her.

Ada then walked over and picked up Raikou. She shrunk him, stuck him in her backpack, and walked over to Ling Xiayou?s tree.

?Oi! You still awake?? Ada asked.

A snore greeted Ada and she smiled. She?d leave Ling Xiayou to sleep and keep going. Yeah, that was a good plan. That is, it was a great plan.

Pretty, in her excitement, forgot about her song?s effect and began to sing for Ada. She quickly fell asleep.

?Puff, Puff, Jiggly, Jiggly.? Pretty said, smiling.

Crash grinned rufeully at Laura as she helped him to his feet. It was good to see her again, if slightly awkward due to the fact that they were now in competition. He briefly considered getting Ariados to web her up, if for nothing but a laugh. But she was not only a former teammate, but a friend. And it wasn't fair, she could have left him there anyway.

"What are you smiling about?" Laura asked him. Crash just shrugged it off with a grin.

"Nothing" he said. The two of them walked through the forest for some time, talking about their new teams and the antics of their team-mates, as well as prior challenges, and how they were doing in this one. It was good to catch up with her, and a pleasant detour from the challenge.

"Alas" she said "all good things come to an end, and so will this conversation because I have to go and catch myself some pokemon, so I can beat you". She grinned cheekily and playfully shoved him.

"Hey, if you wanna delude yourself, it's no fur off my back. You know that you're going down" Crash returned. With a mock serious salute, Laura turned and disappeared into the forest eaves.

Crash sighed and glanced around, looking for the next capture. He wandered off in the opposite direction to Laura, and as he walked further on he figured his route must have been the best. The forest was getting more and more beautiful with each step he took. He swore that he saw the flowers just sprouting out of the ground up ahead of him, and such beautiful and colourful flowers he had never seen. The air smelled pure, clean and fresh. The trees were even.... nicer, somehow. It was damn near magical.

And then Crash watched in amazement, as right next to his foot, a flower burst from the ground, uncurling and rapidly growing, so that many days of growth were accomplished in mere seconds. This wasn't natural. And probably nothing to do with fertile soil either. Crash glanced over his shoulder, and scanned the forest. This was obviously the work of a pokemon.

As Crash turned back, for the second time that day he found himself face to face with a pokemon. Nose to nose, even. With a wild shriek and much giggling the pokemon [again!] shot up into the air, seeking the cover of the trees. Crash grinned. Whatever this pokemon was, it was as if it was innocent and childish. It's merry laugh echoed throughout the trees. However, these trees were taller than the pines, and had no branches low enough down that Crash could hope to reach. Crash pondered his predicament, but the answer came easily enough to him. Reaching into his jacket, he withdrew Ariados' ball, and with a flash of red light the large spider pokemon stood before him.

"I need to get up into that tree. Can you help me get up there?"

The Ariados almost seemed to pause, as if in contemplation, before nodding. Crash hopped onto it's back, and awkwardly seated himself just beind it's head, holding onto it's spike with one hand, whilst he gripped a pokeball tightly in the other. The Ariados began climbing the tree, crawling higher and higher.

"Uh, this isn't the right tree" Crash said, but the pokemon ignored him. And then it dawned on Crash. "Oh no..." he muttered, but it was too late. The Ariados pulled itself closer to the trunk, and then pushed off, flying through the air towards the tree where the mysterious pokemon had taken refuge. It made the distance, but began to slip from the unaccustomed weight on it's back. Crash quickly let go, and grabbed ahold of a branch, pulling himself safely onto it. With the impediment removed, the Ariados grabbed a firmer hold of the tree, and stopped sliding down. With a flash of red light Crash returned it to it's pokeball.

A tiny giggle came from somewhere nearby, and a small pale green head poked out from around the trunk. Wide blue eyes gazed into his, and in their reflection a pokeball grew larger and larger....

"Zzzsscshrt". And it was his.

"Congratulations." came the obligatory spiel from the pokedex "You Have Just Captured Celebi. This Pokémon wanders across time. Grass and trees flourish in the forests in which it has appeared."

Wanders across time? Crash thought to himself. He struggled internally for a moment, but then decided against it. That would be unfair. And who knows if it could be done anyway.

Yuna felt around and her hand landed on the chain of moving rocks. It's head turned toward her and made a sound of curiosity.

"Can you help me out of this hole?" she asked carefully.

"Nix." it said and put it's head on the ground.

Yuna didn't know what to do but it shook it's head, telling her to get on it. She cautiously climbed on and he rose quickly, easily lifting her out of the hole after he stretched out his body. Yuna rolled onto the normal ground again, she was now on the otherside.

"Wanna come with me?" she asked, holding out a pokeball.

It made a groaning sound and nodded it's big head. She tapped it against the surface, and there was a moment of bright light before she was in darkness again.

"Onix, the rock/ground pokemon. As it grows, the stone portions of its body harden to become similar to diamond, but colored black."

Yuna put away the ball and wandered through the cave, wondering if it was a tunnel and thus had an exit, or whether it was just a cave with a dead end.

She saw a bright light up ahead and ran toward it, hoping it was the exit because she couldn't stand the darkness. As she rounded the corner, she was disappointed at the lack of exit but there was a strange looking pokemon standing in the center of the room, it was constantly letting off light and electricity and there was a constant sparking noise. Yuna carefully decided to approach it.

"Just five more minutes..." Xiaoyu mumbled, rolling over in her bed.

Except, of course, she was up a tree. As she found herself falling through the air instead of burying herself deeper in the bedclothes, she yelped and flailed her arms about for a handhold. She just managed to catch a protruding branch, stopping her fall with a jolt.

"... tress ... Forretressss ..."

She opened her eyes and found herself staring into two dark pits. They peered at her from the inside of a grey clamshell-looking thing, with pink fleshy tubes studded around its equator. As she stared, the tubes bulged.

"Forretress!"

Xiaoyu just managed to swing herself up onto the branch she'd caught before razor-sharp shards of shell started scything out of the tubes.

Forretress, Bug/Steel Pokemon. It remains immovably rooted to its tree. It scatters pieces of its hard shell to drive its enemies away.

"Immovably, huh?" pondered Xiaoyu aloud. If it couldn't move, then it couldn't hurt her now she was out of its line of fire. She relaxed, took out a Pokeball and tapped it against the Pokemon's hard shell.

Congratulations. You have captured a Forretress.

Shadow leapt over a clump of bushes, Pokeball in one hand, Pokedex in the other, charging towards a little caterpillar. He knew he could catch it easily, but it was avoiding his Pokeballs, and he had been chasing it for ten minutes.

Finally, he lobbed the Pokeball at it, and it struck, but before the little thing could be sucked into the little red ball, it unleashed a barrage of tiny needle-like objects from its mouth, and they flew through the air towards Shadow, striking him in the shoulder, sending him spinning to the ground.

Congratulations. You have captured a Caterpie.

But Shadow couldn't hear this. He lay on the ground and groaned as he felt the poison rushing through his veins. Bloody Poison Needle attack. He felt sick. He was even hallucinating. He saw a big pink marshmallow standing over him, cooing gently.

"Blissey..." it said, looking concerned.

Yuna cautiously approached the sparking pokemon, she didn't want to get hurt, but it was successfully lighting up the room so she could see. Zubat flew around the area, letting out cries to see if there were any other pokemon around.

"Ditto, transform." Yuna said quietly, not wanting to panic the spiky creature.

Ditto jumped down and glowed brightly, transforming into a perfect replica. That caught the attention of the Jolteon and it turned, growling angrily and more sparks appeared. Ditto quickly started emitting his own to try to neutralise the area.

Zubat swooped in too close and was shocked by a bolt, he was jolted and his flying became impaired. Yuna quickly returned him to his ball and got out Onix to protect her. Onix was a fence line between Jolteon and Yuna , protecting her from any bolts.

Yuna moved around Jolteon and carefully threw her pokeball, it hit some of it's spikes and it turned to glare at her, before being sucked in.

"Jolteon, the electric pokemon. It concentrates the weak electric charges emitted by its cells and launches wicked lightning bolts."

Ditto changed back and sighed, tiredly climbing back on to her shoulder. Yuna rubbed his head and returned Onix to his ball before picking up the one that now held Jolteon. She opened it and the creature looked at her, sitting on his hind legs like a dog obediently, it made a sparking noise and little thunderbolts surrounded it as it's hairs stood rigid.

"Jolteon, can you help me find the way out and light the way?"

"Jolt!" it nodded and stood, walking through, a constant source of light which helped since she could now see again.

Eventually they reached outside, and Yuna returned it to it's pokeball. She could see a forest not too far ahead of her, that was her next destination.

Shadow looked at the large pink Pokemon now standing over him, with one "paw" in the white pouch that was on it's stomach.

"Blissey..." it said in a soothing voice. It bent over Shadow, who was now sweating profusely. He groaned as the Pokemon lowered something large and round into his mouth. He forced himself to take a bite.

Immediately a warm sensation rushed through his body, and he jumped to his feet. Then he regretted it as a rush of blood thundered into his brain and he felt extremely dizzy. Then he doubled over and threw up, ejecting the poison from his system.

"Thank you," he said in a strained voice to the Blissey, placing a hand softly on her head. She purred softly.

"Blissey..."

"Do you mind if I take you with me?" asked Shadow, "We really need to win this challenge."

The Blissey purred again and nodded, so Shadow took out a Pokeball and tapped it lightly against the Blissey's head. It was sucked into the Pokeball.

Congratulations. You have captured a Blissey.

"Yay!" said Shadow, and he skipped off into the woods. Wait a minute, that didn't sound right. Skipping? Shadow?

There was something in that egg...

Ada snored lightly, with Pretty standing over her smiling. It had been about twenty minutes since the catch. Pretty did not want to wake Ada, but they needed to keep moving.

Luckily for her, Ling Xiayou?s falling out of the tree brought Ada to attention as she shot up, looking for her gun. She did not have it and she calmed down when she realized where she was. ?Where is ling Xiayou??

Pretty pointed upwards and Ada smiled as the woman sprung down from the tree. ?Did ya get the dog thing??

?Of course. What do you take me for, weak?? Ada replied.

?No, nothing of the sort. Well, we?re both up a Pokemon now!? Ling Xiayou cheered, pumping her hand up.

?Good, good. How about we leave this little ?grove? in the forest, I?m getting the creeps.? Ada said, shivering.

?You get the creeps?? Ling Xiayou chuckled.

?Yeah, now let?s go.? Ada responded, walking towards the sunlight.

?Are you sure?? Ling Xiayou asked.

?Yes! Now stop Ling, I?m starting to?? Ada started as something dropped in front of her.

Ada let out a yell as it landed on her head. She began running in circles, trying to get it off. Pretty and Ling Xiayou had to hold onto each other in an attempt to hold their laughter in. Ada let out another yell and whipped her head around, tossing the thing onto the ground. Ada quickly tossed a Survivor Ball at it and smiled savagely as it disappeared into the ball.

?Wurmple, the Worm POKEMON. This POKEMON likes tree sap and it uses the spikes on it?s back to retrieve it.? The Pokedex chirped.

?We?re going. Now.? Ada stonely said.

Ling Xiayou and Pretty followed behind Ada, still chuckling. Ada was never going to live this down.

Crash clambered down from the tree, and set off through the forest again. He didn't see hide nor hair of any pokemon whilst he was walking, and eventually it began to rain. A fairly light drizzle, but miserable enough to walk in anyway. After perhaps twenty minutes of trudging through the forest Crash emerged into yet another field.

'It might be large, but the terrain is fairly monotonous' Crash thought to himself. He was about to start walking along the edge of the forest towards a large solitary mountain that was some distance away, when a sudden sparking captured his attention.

Approaching cautiously, he found a very wet and miserable looking sheep trying to shelter underneath a small bush. As Crash reached out to pet it, a flurry of sparks burst out, and Crash quickly withdrew his hand. He reached into his jacket and withdrew a pokeball. As he prepared to throw it, the sheep ran around to the other side of the bush.

"Oi, come back here!" Crash called, running around to the other side of the bush. It wasn't there. He heard a quiet "Baaa" from the other side of the bush, and ran back around, just in time to see the tip of the sheep's bulbous tail disappearing from sight. He began to chase it around the bush, but after five laps he gave up.

"This is ridiculous.... it's a bloody sheep!" Crash muttered. With a yell he leapt straight over the bush, throwing his pokeball at the surprised sheep pokemon. A red glow enveloped it, and it disappeared.

"Congratulations." Announced his pokedex "You Have Just Captured A Flaaffy. As a result of storing too much electricity, this sheep pokemon develops patches where even downy wool won't grow."

At almost that exact same instant the drizzle stopped, and the clouds began to disperse. As Crash looked up at the welcome sun, a rainbow began to form. Crash squinted struggling to make out something which bothered him.... the rainbow was forming behind something, a small speck high up in the sky. It arced downwards, towards the mountain, and that was where the rainbow ended. Crash was mystified. He had to check this out.

Lara chuckled as she watched Crash sprint off back into the woods. He seemed to have grown quite competative in their time apart. Shouldering her pack Lara took off towards the tree-line of the forest. Coming to the forest's end Lara closed her eyes and heaved a great sigh of relief, finally to be out in the open, to see the sun. Opening her eyes in anticipation Lara looked up towards the sky...only to be met with a huge expanse of solid, imovable rock. A mountain.

Great She thought, gritting her teeth in annoyance. What does a girl have to do for a little bit of sunshine around here?

A low rumble met her silent question, a light tremor running through the ground. Lara crouched instinctively, steadying herself with one hand on the ground. A few loose rocks came tumbling town the rocky incline of the mountain and as Lara looked up towards the peak she could see a small plume of smoke rising from the top.

This day just keeps getting better and better

As the tremor dissipated Lara straightened up and walked forwards slowly towards the base of what now appear to be a slightly active volcano. Toeing a rock she grumbled under her breath and started to climb.

-------------------------------One long climb later-----------------------

Lara heaved herself up over the edge of the rock she was hanging from. Covered in grit and grime she was sweating and breathing heavily as she sat herself down upon the ledge. The ascent had been tiring to say the least, no thanks to several loose rocks and a particularly strong wind. Shuffling back Lara put out her hand to brace herself against the rocks. Her fingers brushed something smooth and metallic, making a clinking noise as it tapped against a rock. Raising an eyebrow in curiosity Lara turned her head, and her eyes shot open wide when she saw what it was.

A large stash of gold and silver objects sat, hoarded in a corner of the ledge. Most was surrounded by twigs and leaves intertwined, but a few had gone stray across the stony platform. Reaching forward Lara took a piece, running her fingers over its smooth surface. It was odd to see such a hoard simply lying out in the open like this. Despite being a rather long way up it still didn't seem like a particularly safe place to keep it. Edging closer Lara was suddenly startled by a loud squawk and a bundle of black feathers came barreling across her view.

"Murk-row, murkrow!"

A large, crow-like looking bird stood before her, glaring fiercely. Its feathers were pure black and a sort of rim encircled the plumage on its head. It stalked towards her, clacking its beak in a meanacing fashion.

Smirking Lara reached into her bag of trusty, if not now slightly grubby, pokeballs. Taking one out she tossed it about in her hands.

"Look, I've just come from facing down a bear. I'm not afriad of you." Hefting the ball she threw it towards the advancing Murkrow, engulfing it in red light and capturing it securely within its confines.

CONGRATULATIONS YOU HAVE CAPTURED A MURKROW! a muffled voice called from within her pack. Removing the small pokedex Lara chuckled.

"Oh yeah, I had forgotten about you."

Ada was still fuming over the whole Wurmple incident as she broke through the forest. The stupid thing just had to pick that exact moment to land on her head. Just had to be the annoying pain in butt after Ada had lost her nerve. She swore, as soon as she could, she would kick the thing in the butt.

Sunlight hit Ada?s face and all her anger seemed to melt away. The bonus was that Ada had found the beach. She could have squealed as Ling and Pretty followed behind her on the sand. Ada took off her shoes and took off running across the beach, savoring the feeling of sand between her toes.

She stopped when she realized she had an audience. There, sitting on a rock next to the water was a seal.

?Seel! Seel!? It said, clapping its fins together.

?I call it!? Ada yelled at no one in particular as she pulled out another Survivor Ball.

Pretty stood at the ready, but Ada shook her off, saving this one for herself. She let the ball fly and waited for the sound. Instead of that, Ada got the ball back in her face. Ada could have strangled the thing as it happily called, ?Seel! Seel!? and clapped its fins together.

?I swear, I?m going to ***** 8**** 8*#$@# *** you **$$(%** (%(%** (%(%? * Ada snarled, running up to the seal.

It just sat there and smiled, never suspecting Ada to tap him with the ball. She then proceeded to hold the ball shut as it fought capture. The cling only caused Ada to smile wickedly.

?Seel, the Sea Lion POKEMON, this POKEMON?s horn is used for bashing in ice. It likes colder climates.? The Pokedex chirped.

Ada didn?t care and was already planning how she was going to make this Seel?s life a little more difficult.

As Yuna entered the forest she noticed it got a lot darker, she looked up and saw the canopy above was incredibly thick which blocked out a lot of light from entering, though there was still enough that she could see. She noticed some pokemon running around that looked like they were nocturnal, she guessed that since it was so dark, they thought it was constantly night time and roamed freely. Most of the pokemon were high up in the trees that she didn't want to climb just yet.

Yuna walked along slowly, Ditto looked around. There was a sound behind them and she whirled, looking around. There was a little blue turnip looking thing except it was round at the bottom and had feet and a face.

"Oddish, Oddish." it said as it swayed while walking, waving it's bright green leaves, it's little red eyes were curved up happily.

Yuna raised an eyebrow and sneaked up behind it, picking it up by the leaves. It screamed and kicked it's little legs futilely. It pulled out of her grip and glared, it wasn't happy any more. It shook it's leaves and purplish spores surrounded her and Ditto. Ditto curled up into a ball with no eyes or mouth to have the spores enter. Yuna breathed some in and felt sick, she gasped as she fell to her knees. Yuna threw a pokeball at the Oddish and gripped her chest.

"Oddish, the grass/poison pokemon. It may be mistaken for a clump of weeds. If you try to yank it out the ground, it shrieks horribly. It roams actively at night. In the day, it stays quietly underground." Yuna heard the pokedex say but she wasn't paying attention as the poison burned it's way through her body.

She weakly scrambled for her dress spheres and changed into White Mage. She was lying on the ground, staff in hand as she muttered the spell to heal effects. "Esuna..."

She felt the healing power flow through her body, cleansing her being of the poison as she changed back to Gunner. Yuna got up and brushed herself off, picking up the pink ball and stroking it, letting him know everything was alright. Ditto changed back into his normal shape and took his perch on Yuna's left shoulder.

She picked up the pokeball and rubbed the dirt of it, shrinking it down and tucking it away. Yuna looked around and decided it would be better to find pokemon if she climbed up into the trees. She moved over to a tree and found a foothold, scaling into the branches in search of pokemon. She wanted to win this challenge, they had lost too many as the Green team, this was her chance.

Mario walked through the jungle looking left and right for any more spiders or rocks masquerading as trees. Alas, he did not find any and was quite disappointed when he came to the end of the forestry.

However, the picture-perfect display he was seeing infront of him made up for it. At the end of the tree-filled jungle was a beach and a lovely ocean. It almost glimmered in the sunlight and seemingly flowed without a care in the world. But that's not what was so spectacular.

It was superb. There were almost two dozen Pokemon in front of Mario all enjoying the water or basking in the sunlight along the shore. For a split second, Mario spotted a blue sea dragon with a large shell on it's back in the water.

As Mario trotted forward, he came to pass two red and white crabs, one much larger and a lot more muscular than the other. More muscular? A crab? This world was a strange one.

Well-a.. I guess I should capture as many as I can then. thought Mario. He sat down and decided he would wait for the Pokemon to come to him instead. To show he posed no threat. Overtime nothing happened, a brown worm had poked its head up in front of Mario, but buried itself underground to quickly for Mario to even get out his Pokeball.

It was no longer after that when the bird perched on a rock beside him. It had a petit body and small legs but long wings. They fell down over the boulder practically covering it's torso. The segull looking Pokemon was white with some blue patterns on it. It's beak also had a black spot on the end.

Curiously, it twitched its head left and right, possibly looking for food. Slowly, Mario stood up and picked up the the Pokeball he had left on the ground from the visiting worm. He quietly tossed it at the bird and watched as it was sucked right into the ball.

"Wa-hoo!" yelped the ecstatic plumber. He walked over and clipped the Pokeball onto his belt where he had decided all his full Pokeballs would go.

"Congratulations! You have captured a Wingull!" the Pokedex said. "New Entry!" Mario mouthed along with the New Entry part, mocking the mechanism. "Wingull, the Seagull Pokemon. Wingull rides updrafts rising from the sea by extending its long and narrow wings to glide. This Pokemon's long beak is useful for catching prey."

Mario had started making his way towards the sea. He waded into the water and plotted himself down, the ocean only rising to his shoulders. That's when he saw the sea dragon again.

It rose out of the water, not 10 feet away and glared at Mario.

Crash withdrew the pokeball containing Feraligator, and looked at it thoughtfully, before returning it to his jacket pocket. Not that one... but perhaps...?

Crash withdrew a different pokeball. Holding it out in his hand, he pressed the white button, and in a blast of red light Suicune appeared. Crash was unsure about asking this majestic pokemon to allow him to ride it, but no sooner had the thought crossed his mind than he found himself mounted and racing off towards the distant mountain.

'He must be psychic or something' Crash thought, and immediately Suicune let out a long howl, putting on a further burst of speed. It wasn't long before the swift pokemon drew to a stop on the lower foothills of the mountain. Crash looked behind him. The distant forest was just a smudge on the horizon. It would have taken him many hours to walk that far, perhaps a whole day even. It was then that Crash realised that he hadn't actually 'caught' Suicune. If it had wanted to get away he would never have seen it after the initial encounter.

"Thankyou" he said, and Suicune gravely bowed. He returned it to it's pokeball and began the long hike up the mountain. Obviously this was important, otherwise he felt sure that Suicune wouldn't have just halted for no apparent reason.

Crash struggled up the steep sides of the mountain. Often he was forced to backtrack, due to a scree fall, or an un-climbable cliff. It took him three hours of hard labouring to reach the spot roughly two-thirds of the way up the mountain where he figured the black speck had landed. There was a large grassy plateau, and against the mountain cliffs which surrounded it on three of the four sides [the other side being open, and here Crash had climbed up the mountain], was a large cave mouth. Crash approached it stealthily, for surely this was where the creature he had glimpsed from afar resided. As he drew closer to the mouth of the cave he felt warm breezes emanating from the cave, as converse to the cool damp air he would have expected. Swallowing nervously, and grabbing two pokeballs from his jacket, Crash snuck into the cave. It was warm, but not uncomfortably so, and Crash managed to keep a reign on his fear. He came out of the tunnel and into a large hollowed out cavern. In the center, perched regally upon a long slab of rock, was a magnificent golden bird. It appaeared to be asleep, but as Crash got within throwing distance, both of the creatures golden eyes burst open, and pierced Crash, rooting him to the spot. It spread it's wing, and flapped them wildy.

"Ho-oh!" it screeched, and a blinding blast of rainbow light came forth. Suddenly Crash could move again, and he desperately threw both pokeballs in the direction where the pokemon had been before. As he blinked his eyes wildly, trying to make the spots disappear, Crash heard the now familiar sound of a capture, which was confirmed when his pokedex announced the capture of 'Ho-oh'.

As Crash walked over to get the two pokeballs he had thrown [one now full], he felt a chill in his bones. No sooner had he retrieved the balls from where they had fallen on the rock slab, then it iced over. As Crash watched, icicles began to form from the ceiling, and spread out from the slab. Crash ran for the entrance, frantically stuffing the balls into his pocket, racing to keep ahead of the ice sheet. He burst out onto the grassy plateau, and turned to watch as the tunnel he had just come from was filled with ice. It came no further than the cave mouth, indeed it ended suddenly as a perfectly flat wall. Crash gulped nervously. That had been too close.

It slowly drifted towards Mario. The sea serpeant that is. He jumped when it opened it's mouth and started singing. Having an 8 foot blue creature wade towards you with its jaw hanging wasn't the most soothing thing in the world. But the song was nice.

It was.. very nice. In fact it was so nice that no more than 5 minutes of Mario listening to it he fell asleep.

Swish.. swish.. Mario peered open his eyes and looked around. There was something jabbing at his butt. He sat up and saw he was in the middle of the ocean.. on the sea serpeant. How pleasent.

Staying as calm as possible he moved forward and held onto the Pokemon's neck like reins.

"Hello-a.." he said. "I realize.. this is very exciting. But I have some catching to--" he stopped right there. As fast as humanly possible, he snatched a Pokeball from his bag and tapped it on the gray shell. As fast as you could say "captured!" the monstrous Pokemon was enveloped in a red light and tucked neatly inside the Pokeball with a 'ping'.

"Congratulations! You have captured Lapras!"

Mario dropped down into the water and threw the Pokeball back into the air. Lapras was released back into the water and lifted Mario onto her shell using her mouth. He rubbed her neck in thanks and listened to what his Pokedex had to say. Figuring it would be a long journey he chose the option of more information using the menu.

"New Entry! Lapras, the transport Pokemon. This Pokemon has been over hunted almost to extinction. It can ferry people across the water using its comfortable shell on its back. A gentle soul that can read the minds of people, Lapras may sing an enchanting cry if it is in a good mood. In the evenings, this Pokemon is said to sing plaintively as it seeks what few others of its kind still remain."

Mario soothingly patted his new found friend on the back of her neck and spoke out softly. "You are-a my favourite."

The ground shook, and a small stream of pebbles tumbled down the mountainside. Samus braced her feet to keep her balance, blowing apart any larger boulders careening her way. An earthquake? She activated her x-ray visor and peered down through the ground. No, it wasn't an earthquake. There was something alive down there, and it was heading towards the surface.

Morphology: #208 Steelix
Its body has been compressed deep under the ground. As a result, it is even harder than a diamond.
Samus' eyes widened as the outline of a huge snake-like creature came into view on her visor mere moments before it burst through the surface ahead. It was all she could do to shield her visor with her arm cannon as rocks and pebbles rained down upon her, ricocheting off her suit. Blindly leaping aside as the huge snake lunged forward on her radar, Samus flipped to her scan visor to get a look at the thing as she landed. She sidestepped again, narrowly dodging the Steelix's massive jaws. If it lives underground, Samus thought irritably as she jumped and dodged, what is it doing up here?

Her patience was running out. With things progressing as they were, catching the Steelix in one of her Pokéballs would be impossible; she had to subdue the creature. After further analysis with her scan visor, Samus charged up her plasma beam and waited for the Steelix's next lunge. Leaping back with mere inches between her and its gaping maw, she let loose a massive burst of flame straight into its mouth. Roaring in pain, the Steelix reared back from the super effective attack.

It wasn't over yet, but Samus was now on the offensive. She fired a super missile, hitting the Pokémon under its chin and blowing its head back. The rest of the rock snake's body followed, tumbling backwards towards the ground -- and straight into the tunnel it had emerged from. Samus swore under her breath as the Pokémon tried to escape, then shot out her grappling beam, catching it around its tail.

The Steelix burrowed back underground, traveling in reverse the same path it had taken to the surface, with Samus being dragged along behind. Fumbling for a Pokéball with her free hand, Samus threw it at the creature's exposed back. It roared again as it was sucked into the ball, which Samus caught in mid-air. She had captured another Pokémon . . . but there was something she had failed to take into account. She was still falling, and she had no idea how deep the tunnel descended.

Shadow skipped through the forest area of the Safari Zone, humming to himself. He was smiling broadly, and stopped along the way to sniff every flower and pet every small animal he could. He was enjoying life.

He stopped suddenly. Why was he skipping? Why the humming? What was wrong with him?

It must have been that egg the Blissey gave me. I'll check it out.

Blissey, buzzed the Pokedex, Anyone who takes a bite of Blissey's egg becomes unfailingly caring and pleasant to everyone.

Dammit.

"Eevee..." said a small voice from behind him. He whirled around and saw a tiny little chihuahua-like Pokemon looking up at him with wide eyes. He took out his Pokedex and pointed it at the Pokemon.

Eevee. It's genetic structure is irregular. It may mutate if exposed to radiation from Element Stones. Evolutions are Jolteon, Flareon, Vaporeon, Espeon and Umbreon.

Shadow chucked a Pokeball at the little thing. It was absorbed, and he picked the ball up.

"I have to catch those other five," he said, deciding there and then that it was his mission.

?These monsters are going to be the end of me.? Ada thought as she continued walking along the beach.

Ling Xiayou had slowed down behind and was now talking with Pretty. Ada turned around and Ling waved at her. Ada walked over with a puzzled look.

?I?m going to go head down the other side of the beach. That way, there?s no competition in catching.? Long said, smiling. ?Besides, you?ve got Pretty. I?ll stay away from the more dangerous ones.?

?Alright, you do that. We?ll see each other later?? Ada asked.

?Of course!? Ling replied, waving.

Ada and Pretty watched her go and Pretty started looking sad.

?What?s up?? Ada asked

?Puff.? Pretty replied.

?She?ll be OK. She has Tauros. Besides, we have to keep going. We have to beat the Iron Fists I told you about.? Ada told Pretty.

Pretty nodded and started walking, humming to herself along the way. Farther down the beach, Ada noticed something floundering in the sand. She walked up and noticed an ugly looking fish trying without effort to get back into the water. Ada, feeling sorry for it, walked over and tried to help it by kicking it.

The fish did not like this very much, so he jumped up and smacked Ada in the stomach with his tailfin. Ada did not like this very much, so she kicked the fish again. So the fish jumped and smacked Ada again.

Pretty watched this game continue for what seemed like forever and finally got bored. She walked over to Ada?s backpack, grabbed a Pokeball, and hit the fish with it. She sighed as it glowed and stilled.

Ada on the other hand, was still ready to pound the little pain in the butt into the ground. That would be the second Pokemon that decided that playing with her was fun. It was at this time that the Pokedex decided to reveal which Pokemon she needed to hate the rest of her life.

?Feebas, the Fish POKEMON. This POKEMON lives in weed choked ponds and is very ugly. Nobody loves Feebas, although some are daring enough to try and train it in the hopes that a Miltoc may come out of their labors. Most trainers are very disappointed.?

?It?s no wonder.? Ada muttered as she picked the ball up.

Ada was about to keep walking, when Pretty went rigid, like she did when Raikou was around. Ada looked around, but saw nothing. It wasn?t until she looked closer to the see that she noticed anything unusual.

?I see it, but what is it?? Ada asked Pretty.

Pretty started shaking and didn?t say anything. In that moment, Ada noticed the shadow change course. New destination, Ada and Pretty.

Yuna crouched carefully, judging the distance to the next branch, she lunged forward and caught the branch in the next tree. She swung herself for a while, gaining momentum before she swung up and landed in a crouched position on top of the branch.

Her arms were getting sore so she decided to use her legs to push herself more instead of pulling up with her arms. Yuna wobbled as a foothold snapped beneath her weight. She grunted as she moved onto a steadier perch and swiped her arm across her forehead, staring around for a trace of movement. She saw some things fly around but they were too far, and she noticed a few discrete leaf movements, but she wasn't sure. Up a lot higher in the current tree she could see what looked like a nest, so she was headed there to see whether there was anything, or if she could see anything.

Yuna rested on another thick branch and sighed heavily, frustration evident. She pulled her sphere grids from her pouch and made a swift change to Berserker, she could get a lot more done, a lot faster in that form.

In no time Yuna had scaled the tree and was crouched on the limb with the nest perched on it. She approached and saw a group of six pink eggs with cracks and faces. She wondered if each was a different pokemon, she quickly threw a pokeball before they did anything and was surprised when all six were sucked into the ball, making the nest empty.

"Exeggcute, the grass/psychic pokemon. Using telepathy only they can receive, they always form a cluster of six Exeggcute. If even one is separated from the group, the energy bond between the six will make them rejoin instantly."

She stood and put away the ball as she looked around for another pokemon she could catch. Yuna saw a bird fly past her swiftly, she could only follow it because she was fast as well.

"Pidgeot!" it screeched as it flew by.

Yuna grinned, she wanted that pokemon next, and she would follow it everywhere just to get a hold of it. She sprung from the limb and followed in the direction it had gone.

The shadow?s tempo began to pick up as it neared shore and it completely disappeared seconds before impact. Ada started to relax, but that was soon shot as the shadow burst from the ocean, sending water everywhere. It then twirled around and opened its wings, sending even more water everywhere.

Luckily for Ada, most of it stayed in the ocean, so she wasn?t going to walk away from this a sopping mess. Ada was not surprised when Gardevior once again appeared, not invited.

?Lemme guess, old Pokemon, powerful, should run, right?? Ada asked sarcastically.

?Well yeah, but if you?re going to be stubborn, Pretty?s not going to work here. Lugia is immune to petty songs and if you?re not careful, she?ll annihilate you with one blast.? Gardevior replied.

?Yeah, like I haven?t heard that line before.? Ada snorted.

?Oh, and Lugia?s also telepathic. Don?t think at all, just do.? Gardevior advised, stealing a glance at Ada.

That?s when Ada had the greatest idea of all time. The one Pokemon Ada let laugh at her. It was going to save the day.

?OK you annoying piece of crap, you?d better come through!? Ada called out as she threw the ball.

?Seel!? It called out as it appeared.

?Foolish mortal! I can defeat such a weakling in one simple attack!? Lugia proudly shouted at Ada in her head.

?We?ll see.? Ada replied.

Ada tossed a Survivor Ball at Lugia and could have almost laughed as she knocked it directly at Seel. That started it all. Sell knocked the ball back and hit Lugia with it, forcing her into the ball. Of course, she was not going to go on without a fight and she quickly broke out, eyes blazing with anger.

?Cheap Tricks Are Not Going To Catch Me.? Lugia informed Ada, putting emphasis on every syllable.

?No, but the annoying thing sitting in front of you is.? Ada said, smirking, ?Seel, show Lugia your new move, Mock.?

Seel did a backflip and barked ?Seel!?. He then began to clap his fins together and bark at Lugia. To Ada, it was just noise, but in his own language, Seel was insulting Lugia with every known insult. She finally threw her head up and shouted at Ada, ?If You Don?t Catch Me Now, I?m Going To GO INSANE!?

Ada could only smile and toss the same Survivor Ball as before. ?Of course, master.?

The ball didn?t even shudder as Lugia entered. Ada?s plan had worked. Of course, she didn?t notice Seel creeping up behind her. As she bent over to pick up the ball, Seel smacked her on the behind with his fin. ?Seel! Seel, Seel!?

Ada fell over with a howl, her eyes blazing red. ?I?m GONNA KILL YOU!?

Pretty could only shake her head. Seel was not going to live through the challenge. Instead of violence, Ada just returned Seel to his Pokeball. ?I?ll get you later.?

It was then that Ada had a good idea. Lugia could fly her around. She could find Ling again, or someone else from the team. She smiled as she called out Lugia.

?Is it gone?? She asked, fear dripping in her voice.

?Yeah, don?t worry, I?ll let you have free reign upon him as soon as the challenge?s over.? Ada responded. ?Now, could you fly me around??

Lugia nodded and motioned for Ada to climb on her back. Pokemon catching was going to be a breeze now.

Yuna growled as she looked around, she'd lost track of the bird, but she knew it was still close by because she could hear it's distinct wing beats with her sharp hearing, Ditto looked concerned as it looked at her, he had a tight grip on her shoulder to keep from flying away as she leapt around crazily. She took off again in the direction she could hear the beat slowing as it prepared to land. Yuna leaped around carefully, less reckless than before. She wanted to stay as quiet as possible to not alarm the Pidgeot and scare it away.

She peered past a bunch of leaves and could see it preening itself. Yuna narrowed her eyes with a sly smile on her lips, she would catch this pokemon yet. She scampered across the branch and climbed higher so she could have an advantage if it decided to take off again.

Yuna took out a pokeball and shrunk it, holding it in her mouth since she needed her hands. She leaped across the gap between the trees powerfully. Pidgeot looked up suddenly, eyes alert and it took off. Yuna spit the ball into her right hand and she smoothly enlarged it as she tossed it, turning in midair. It screeched as it was taken in, and the ball plummeted.

"Pidgeot, the normal/flying pokemon. This pokemon flies at Mach 2 speed, seeking prey. Its large talons are feared as wicked weapons."

Yuna swore as she landed on the branch Pidgeot had been on previously. She pushed off immediately and dived down, looking around for the sphere. Ditto screamed as they fell rapidly, the ground getting much closer.

Yuna heard some laughter and she grabbed a hold of the tree she was falling beside and looked around wildly. She smiled as she saw Ada on the back of of a large bird looking pokemon coloured silver and navy blue. Ada was brandishing a pokeball.

"Yours?" she asked.

"Yeah, I caught him while he was flying away, no where for the ball to go but down. Didn't expect to see you around here." Yuna replied, shuffling.

Ada grinned and tossed it to her, Yuna released the bird and got on it's back, hovering beside the other flying pokemon as she changed back to Gunner.

"Yeah, Lugia was just taking us on a shortcut to the other side to see what pokemon we could find."

"Let's travel together, it'll be a lot easier on both of us."

"I was just travelling with Xiaoyu, and she wanted to split up, but sure, let's go." Ada smiled.

Ditto smiled and Yuna, who smiled in return, the two of them lifted off with their flying pokemon as they decided to head toward a desert not too far away, still on their side of the tunnel. It wouldn't take long at all for them to arrive, then they could continue catching pokemon. Yuna was glad to have company and they talked animately while they flew.

?So you?re at 12 Pokemon now? Wow.? Ada said, surprised.

?Yeah, Ponyta, Magikarp, Psyduck, Dratini, Ditto, Poochyena, Zubat, Onix, Jolteon, Oddish, Exeggcute, and Pidgeot.? Yuna replied, patting her bird.

?I?ve only got eight.? Ada almost whispered, seeming embarrassed. ?A Jigglypuff which I named Pretty, Swablu, Gardevior, Raikou, Wurmple, Seel, Feebas, and Lugia.?

?Well, maybe you can catch up to me.? Yuna said, chuckling.

?Maybe. Although I warn you, Feebas and Seel are the two biggest pain in the butts ever made. Seel likes to mock people and Feebas likes to hit people.? Ada warned.

?Seems you got the short end of the stick there.? Yuna replied.

?Yeah. Oh well. We?re here, so let?s go searching.? Ada said, pointing to the ground.

Already, a sandstorm had kicked up and the only thing Ada could see was the withered out tree ahead. It was then Ada was grateful for Lugia as she started a rain shower which calmed the storm and brought a Pokemon out from the sand.

?Vibrava!? It called happily.

?Must like the rain.? Ada commented.

?Or just the fact that water?s been brought.? Yuna replied.

?Touché.? Ada responded.

Yuna smiled. ?So, shall you take it, or I??

?I?d like it, if you don?t mind.? Ada said, readying a Ball.

?Be my guest.? Yuna replied.

Ada quickly tossed the ball and waited for the ping. It came and the Pokedex quickly followed. ?Vibrava, the Vibrations POKEMON, Vibrava?s wings are not used for flying. Instead, they?re used as a supersonic device which can cause headaches in people and cause other POKEMON to faint.?

?Nice catch.? Yuna applauded.

?Thanks, now you?re up.? Ada said, bowing.

?Why thank you. Although, if I may ask, where?s Pretty?? Yuna asked, looking around.

?She?s not standing by Lugia?? Ada asked, starting to get worried.

?No, I?m afraid not.? Yuna replied, looking around.

?Oh no.? Ada said.

Yuna landed and returned Pidgeot to his ball, putting away. She rubbed Ditto's head, he had gone through a bit of trauma after clinging on as Yuna bounced around the trees. She saw Ditto looked a little tired and decided to return him to his pokeball too.

She watched as Ada captured Vibrava, as she was invited to catch a pokemon, she noticed the lack of the other pink pokemon that had been out of it's ball. She looked around quickly and alerted Ada to the fact that Pretty was missing.

The two of them rushed out to search, Ada got back onto Lugia and took to the sky, looking for the pink puffball. She saw her and called down to Yuna, she ran along the ground to the area as Lugia landed. Ada gathered Pretty into her arms and scolded her for running away from them, she looked sad, and Ada smiled, just telling her not to do it again, the Jigglypuff immediately brightened and started waving and pointing in the direction she had been standing.

Ada and Yuna looked at each other, and at Pretty. Yuna squinted and looked over in the direction she was pointing but couldn't see anything but a small wind tornado moving across the plains. Pretty's hand followed the small sandstorm.

"There is a pokemon in that sandstorm. I know so, as does Pretty." Lugia said in their heads.

"Really?" Yuna watched it and swiftly pulled out Pidgeot's pokeball.

She took off into the sky, getting to the sandstorm in no time. Pidgeot gave a strong beat of her wings and blew away the sand tornado, revealing a dragon-ish pokemon. Yuna was about to throw a pokeball at it when it flapped it's wings and was surrounded by another sandstorm, it was moving faster than before.

"Flygon, the ground/dragon pokemon. Flygon is nicknamed the elemental spirit of the desert. Because its flapping wings whip up a cloud of sand, this pokemon is always enveloped in a sandstorm while flying."

"Damn, that thing gets annoying." Yuna muttered.

Pidgeot flew up to it again and once again blew away the sand, Yuna hurled the ball quickly and it hit it's mark, netting her another pokemon. It fell and created an indentation in the sand. Pidgeot flew by slowly and Yuna leaned over, scooping it up and brushing off the grains of sand that clung.

They flew back to where Ada was and she brandished the pokeball that held her new capture.

"Ta da~!" Yuna grinned.

Ada smiled and got onto Lugia, they took off into the air and Ada and Yuna continued on their search for pokemon.

Crouching on the ledge Lara rested, getting her breath back. Glancing askance at the hoarded shinies in the corner Lara licked her bottom lip. Tempting as such items were to the adventerous tomb raider, the extra weight from the gems and coins would not be a welcome addition as she scaled the rest of the volcano.

Prehaps on my way back down Lara mused

Stretching out her tired limbs Lara stood and assessed her remaining trek. There was a short climb between her and the crater. There had been few tremors and the plume of smoke seemed to have lessened considerably since the beginning of her ascent. Lara hoped this was a good sign and began her climb once more.

The incline was much steeper and lara found it increasingly harder to find hand and foots holds the closer she gre to the top. Prehaps the movement of lava from previous eruptions had something to do with it. Grappling with the edge of the summit Lara heaved herself up. Getting to her knees Lara crouched low, unsure of what she would find in this unknown place. Looking around she heaved a dissappointed sigh. The place was entirely empty. Sliding forward slightly Lara peered over the craters edge. What met her gaze was a bubbling mass of molten rock and hot lava, a low rumble echoing within the steep walls. Lara whistled lowly but, forgetting about the sulpherous air around her, fell back coughing as she tried to breath in, her eyes watering profusely.

Trying to catch her breath Lara coughed violently upon the craters edge, wiping at her eyes to clear them. Blinking Lara's vision again became blocked by a large red and orange blot, swimming in and out of focus. Lara yelped and stumbled backwards, her hand brushing the edge of the precepace.

The pokemon inclined its head and look at her with an inquisitive expression.

"Mag-mar?"

Lara gritted her teeth and grabbed a pokeball, cursing Mog for such a crazy and annoying challenge. Hefting the ball she threw it with all the strength she could muster, however, due to her obscured vision the ball went wide, falling lamely on the rocky ledge beside the creature. Magmar frowned, looking from the pokeball to Lara and back again. A low growl rumbled from the creatures throat, an echoing tremor running through the volcano. Lara grimaced.

"Oh sh**" Lara yelled as the Magmar inhaled sharply and a strong yet of flame burst from its mouth towards her. Lara only just managed to avoid it by leaping ungracefully to the side, the flames scorching her bare right leg slighly. Hissing in pain Lara scrambled for the discarded ball, diving forward into a roll as another jet of flame shot over her head with a loud whooshing sound.

"Magmar! Magmaar!" The pokemon bellowed, obviously angered by Lara's evasive actions. Grasping at the ball Lara ducked again under the pokemons attacks, running in a crouch towards the edge furthest from the crater. Gripping the ball tightly she glared at the Magmar.

"I've had just about enough of pokemon." Lara growled before launching the ball once more. This time her aim was true and the magmar disappeared. Breathing heavily Lara retrieved the ball, wiping a hand over her grimy face. Walking slowly to the edge of the summit Lara took in a deep breath of clean air, looking out over the surrounding countryside.
