[i]Alan struck down one of the demonic creatures and turned around to pull another off his brother. Peregrine was ripping and tearing through them like paper as Viper fought frivilously to keep the others alive. However the pack began to get overwhelming as many more surfaced through the grond and they surrounded the group. Outlaw fell to his knees and laid his club in the sand.[/i]

Outlaw:We're all gonna die..

Viper:Shut your mouth! No we are not! Have you dared to forget that you are in the presence of the Goddess of Protection?!

[i]Viper angrily yelled at Outlaw, who cringed in fear, of the demons, and Viper. Viper's eyes glistened and she turned away from him. Viper raised her arms into the sky and a transparent blue sheild surrounded the group like a bubble. Viper alone remained out of the bubble and she turned to the largest of the demons.[/i]

Viper:ANGORA! Show yourself you COAWRDICE WHORE!

[i]The eyes of the monstrous demon in front of Viper began to suddenly glow a shocking red and a cloud of black mist srrounded the creature breifly. When the mist lifted, a beautiful woman with a sinister, horrible expression on her face stood before Viper. Her black hair glistened as she faced the new goddess.[/i]

Angora:So then.. long time no see.. Viper.. Amazing to think that the gods would make us both celestial.. Ironic isn't it?

Viper:A stroke of bad luck.. but that aside.. how dare you attack our group without subsequent reason or warning? What right have you to do such a deed?

Angora:I attacked your group.. because I could.. and no reason more.. I only wanted a little fun.. when your the Goddess of Scorn.. killing a few mortals to have revenge on a known enemy is a just thing to do..

Viper:Enough.. leave now.. lest I finish what I started as a child..

Angora:Your mouth is big enough Viper.. but can you back it up?

[i]The sand beneath their feet began to swirl and a huge sand dragon shot up beneath Angora, killing the rest of her pack. Upon the back of the dragon rode a beautiful young girl who appeared no more than 10 or 11. Angora stared up at the girl in fear and disappeared in a swirl of black mist. The dragon melted away and the young girl rode the sand to the floor of the cave.[/i]

Girl:You are safe now, Angora will bother you no more, you are granted safe passage through the remainder of the desert. Good luck.

[i]The girl became sand herself and blew away in the wind.[/i]

Chole:Who was that?

Viper:That was Kekare. She is the goddess of the sands and the desert. Angora's younger sister. Angora has always feared what she can't explain, and she can't explain why her sister is more pwoerful than she. Kekare was always a kind girl, and she took a liking to me. I'm not sure why, but Kekare was my only friend before I became a Dragonheart.

Alan:Key-who-ay?

Viper:Key-kar-ay

Alan:Oh.. okay..

Liam:Viper.. how did you know Angora?

Viper:Nevermind that.. lets keep moving..

[i]Viper turned and planted a kiss on Alan's cheek. She slipped one of her arms around his and began to walk forward.[/i]

[COLOR=royalblue][i]Viper and Peregrine exchanged a knowing glance.......then looked forward and continued onwards, eyes steadily gazing across the shimmering sands.......Soon, they passed out of the Desolation and into the foothills of Arethrei.[/i]

Liam: *polishes sword* You can't say it wasn't an interesting walk through the desert....

[i]Peregrine picked the blood from her upper lip and unconciously rubbed the scar on her side......[/i]

Chole: You okay?

Peri: Yeah....my mouth tastes like blood...that's all.

Outlaw: Just don't kill like Pantheris again.

Peri: :demon: Don't patronize me.

Outlaw: *looks away*[/COLOR]

Liam: *finishes polishing and sheathes his sword* is there a safe place nearby where we can recouperate? After that I think we all need to rest.

[COLOR=darkblue][i]They came upon a small village with rows and rows of assorted fruit trees...the villagers were walking about, doing their daily chores when one of them noticed the party coming in and he ran up to them.[/i]

Boy: Hey, have you seen my uncle?

Chole: Umm, nope...I don't know who he is?

[i]The other villagers started to notice and, within a few minutes, nearly the entire village was around them, asking about their relatives.[/i]

Liam: What are they talking about?

Peri: I think I might know why...

Viper: I got it taken care of...Peri, Chole, Liam, Alan, Outlaw? Rest up...I'll be with you in a few...

Outlaw: Okay...

[i]The group walked over to the shady portion of the town, aside from all the villagers while Viper explained to them that they haven't seen their relatives.[/i]

Liam: I don't get it...why are they asking us? We just got here...

Alan: They probably have relatives who went out on an expidition through the desert and never came back.

Peri: But look at the guy over there...the one that asked Chole first...

[i]Alan looked at the guy over and over again...other than him missing both of his hands...he was fine.[/i]

Alan: What?

Peri: Don't you get it? Do you think these people live on only fruits and vegetables?

Alan: Well...it could happen.

Chole: Yeah, to a town made up of vegetables...

All: :nope:

Chole: *falls to the ground*

Peri: Nevertheless...they were asking about their relatives because they were hiding in the mountains...and we happened to kill them...all of them...

Liam: Are you saying this town is full of bandits?

Peri: Yeah...

Outlaw: I wonder what Viper's gonna tell them...[/COLOR]

[Pressure]

[i]As Liam and the others talked, Viper walked slowly away from the villagers and back to her own group. She stopped before Peregrine.[/i]

Viper:This town consists solely of bandits. The ones we saw lying in the gorge, the ones killed by Angora, were the relatives of these people. They now know that and while they are all sad about their losses, their melancholy spirits haven't kept them from their manners. They offer us food and a good nights sleep.

Chole:Cool! Let's eat!

Viper:You are truly retarded Chole, it's not that simple..

Alan:OOOOOOOh dissed by a goddess! Ouch..

Chole:Shut up!

[i]Chole made a swat for Alan but Peregrine caught is arm and gave him a look that could kill an army. Chole backed down instantly.[/i]

Viper:Right, like I was saying. We will accept the food and warm hospitatlity, but we will decline any drink they may offer or any beds. Even if they are being generous, they are still bandits none the less.

Outlaw:Right then, okay, let's go.

[i]As they moved farther into town, they were approached by a man who appeared to be the leader of the villagers. He knelt before Viper and kissed Lady Peregrine's hand. When he looked up at Chole and Alan, they saw that he was blind in one eye. He turned away from Liam and Outlaw and offered two necklaces of flowers to the women. Viper chose the one made from Lilies, and Peregrine the one made from Lilacs.

Viper turned hr head so she faced Peregrine.[/i]

Viper:Isn't there something you wanted from Chole when you got out of the desert?

The man turned away and began to walk toward a long house, gesturing for them to follow. As his back was turned, Peregrine pulled a pouch from her dress sleeve and sprinkled some glittering white powder on her wreath necklace and Viper's. After a few minutes, Viper watched several tiny but poisonous snakes fall lifeless from her necklace.

Peregrine and Viper recoiled and snapped the necklaces from their thraots, disgarding them on the ground as they walked by. The group arrived at the long house and was very hesitant to sit down, even though a glorious feast was set out.

Peregrine sat down first, Chole to her right, Viper to her left. Then Alan sat down next to Viper, Liam next to him, and finally Outlaw. Viper and Peregrine exchanged knowing glances and before anyone began to eat, they mentally told everyone in their group to eat nothing but bread, rice, and fruit. Viper snorted as Alan wiggled in his seat and Outlaw dropped a chiken bone angrily on the table.

As they waited, the man that had given them the wreaths stood up. He raised his glass and motioned to Viper's group. Viper flicked her hand softly under the table and the goblets that lay before them were magically filled with nectar. Viper nodded her head to the man and lifted her glass. She took a drink and so did everyone in the group.[/i]

Man:We are grateful to this traveling group for telling us the whereabouts of our relatives and their murderer. We are very grateful. We invite you to our feast, please. Enjoy!

[i]Cheers of[i] HERE HERE! [i]rang out through the long house as the other bandits lifted their glasses and drank to the good health of the travelers. Meanwhile, the group merely nibbled their food and talked qietly among themselves. When the feast was over, Viper rose to her feet.[/i]

Viper:Thanks be to this town. On behalf of my group I would like to say that we feel for your loss and are sorry that it happened.

All:Here here!

Viper:But..

[i]The room got quiet as Viper spoke again.[/i]

Viper:The passage of family members onto a new world is no reason to dare try and poison a goddess and her friends. For this I would normally destroy the entire town and it's people. But because I have a kind heart I will punish you differently.

[i]Viper raised a hand and snapped her fingers.[/i]

Viper:Half your livestock and crops are dead. Because half this group would have died from eating your poisoned food or from having their throats slit in the night, so have your crops and animals. This is a lesson to never dare to hamr an all-seeing goddess. For your treachery you are punished. With hope, you will reform your town.

[i]Viper finished speaking and the villagers were silent. Her group rose to their feet and the left the long house. When they were safely out of town, they began to talk again.[/i]

Chole:Geez Viper, wasn't that kinda rough, killing half their livestock and crops?

Viper:Their livestock are fine. I didn't kill any of them. Just a scare.

Alan:And their crops?

[i]Viper smirked and turned around to face the entire group.[/i]

Viper:Your cloak and robes seem to be a bit heavier don't they? Turn out your sleeves and pockets all.

[i]With weird, confused looks on their faces, the group did as they were told and their faces lit up and the fruit from the trees fell onto the ground before them.[/i]

Peri:Wow! But will it all keep?

Viper:In my presence yes it will.

Liam:Wow! Thanks Viper!

[i]Viper smiled and picked up a peach. She bit into it and felt the tang in the back of her mouth. She smiled again and wiped the juice from her mouth. Alan approaced her and nuzzled his forehead against hers so their noses touched.[/i]

Alan:Thank you, my love.

[Raiha]

[COLOR=royalblue][i]Lady Peregrine smiled and turned to Chole, winking at him roguishly.[/i]

Chole: What?!?

Peri: We're out of the Desolation. And you owe me an answer.

Chole: ....I......don't recall.....

Peri: VIPER!!!! HE'S BEING DIFFICULT!!!

Viper: Huh? Oh, let him take his time!

Peri: *sigh* Alright........[/COLOR]

Liam: *notices something in the corner of his eye* it seems that our bandit friends are following us

Peri: must have noticed half their stock isn't dead

Liam: *laughs* well, we could always oblidge and make half of their human stock dead :demon:

[i]She leapt onto Tidus's back, drawing in the reins and whipping her sword free. The two raced forward.............melded into one.....Tidus leapt high and hit the first wave of villages quickly, knocking them back.[/i]

Chole: Like a teenager.

Outlaw: It must be the sunlight....

Viper: Oh give me a break.......it's Peregrine being herself![/COLOR]

[i]Liam unsheathes his blade and promptly sheathes it again in a bandits skull. Pulling it out he spins around, stabbing it deep into another vagabond, warm red blood seeping onto his blade, running onto his arm[/i]

Chole: So anyways.......how far to Arethrei?

Peri: We cross this next stretch of hot sand, and reach the foothills of the Dreaming Mountains, a place where gods have no power......and dreams run rampant....it should be fun......:devil:[/COLOR]

Liam:Does Viper know she won't have any power there?

Viper:Actually Liam.. I will..

Liam:But Peregrine said..

Viper:Very few gods and goddesses are granted power in the Dreaming Mountains.. I was one of them.. along with the gods of life, death, mystery, and obviously, the goddess of dreams..

Liam:Oh.. I see. why were you granted power?

Viper:Though beautiful, the dreaming mountains are very dangerous.. in them lurks the creatures from beautiful dreams.. as well as the ones from horrible nightmares..

Liam:I see..

[i]Viper nodded her head and turned away from Liam. She walked over to Chole with such a fierce look on her face that he backed into a wall. Viper sood on the tips of he toes and stared up into his dark green eyes. With one hand she pointed at Viper and without moving her teeth, she growled in the back of her throat.[/i]

Viper:There is something you need to say to her.. NOW!

[i]Chole winced and Viper's eyes flashed. Choled nodded quickly and he walked into the woods. Peregrine followed, smiling gently to Viper as she passed.[/i]

Viper:Now the rest of you lie down .. the sun will be up in just a few short hours.. rest..

[i]Viper turned and laid back down next to Alan. He looked at her with open eyes and smiled. Viper laid on her back and Alan rolled over ontop of her. Alan shut his eyes and Viper mimicked. Alander lowered his mouth onto hers and Viper felt a thousand tiny fires light up in her mouth as he kissed her. Alan and Viper were on Cloud Nine, floating on a weightless bed of air.

Viper lifted her hand and pulled on Alan's neck so that he was brought even closer to her. Viper and Alan's tounges carressed each other lovingly and they both began to feel warmth in the pits of their stomachs.

Alan pulled away and opened his eyes. They fell on the miraculous woman below him that he loved so much. Viper's eyes were half open as she panted slowly, gasping for air. Alan kissed her quickly again and rolled off of her.

Alan stretched out his arms and when he brought them back down he felt them close around Viper's warm body. Alan smiled to himself as he saw the always beautiful Viper wrapped peacefully in a dream. No hostility, just peace and relaxation. Alan smiled again and closed his own eyes, slipping also into a warm sleep.[/i]

[Raiha]

[COLOR=skyblue][i]Lady Peregrine followed Chole quietly and calmly, silently thanking Viper for her intrusion.[/i]

Chole: Um......

Peri: Yes?

His dreams that night were wrong, in every sense of the word. They were plagued with demons, proud and fearless; colossi bestriding the earth without check or opponent. He saw death, everywhere, not plant nor bird nor beast escaped, least of all men. He saw fear, a world gone crazy, without reprieve, and he wept like a baby in his sleep.

For he saw death, and it was Viper who was commanding it.

Chole: It is about time we got out of the desolation.

Chole: After walking and walking for hours and hours in a silent stupor, I began to think of what you said...of how you had feelings for me, even though we got of to a bad start.

Peri: I know...but things are okay now.

Chole: I realize that..and I promised you an answer.

Peri: Which is?

Chole: I have feelings for you as well...probably not as strong as yours, but still...they're there.

Peri: Is that all?

Chole: That's all I can give you right now...and a strong helping hand when you need me.

Peri: *looks up* Well at least we got that far..

Chole: I'm sorry if I can't give you what you want right now...whatever it is...[/COLOR]

[i]Viper smiled at Peregrine and winked. Peregrine smiled back and she left with Chole. Viper stood on the path and stared at the starry sky. It was beautiful. She smiled softly to herself and shut her eyes. Viper took in a deep breath and opened her eyes again. She turned back and walked slowly back to the camp. When she got there, Peregrine was already nestled asleep in Chole's arms, though Chole stayed awake. Viper shook her head and rolled her eyes. Outlaw was sleeping under a large conifer and Liam and was asleep in his cloak. Viper strode forward and found Alan in a cold sweat and shaking vigorously as if he was fighting demons in his sleep. Viper raced forward and knelt beside him. She shook his shoulder and lifted his head from the ground. He continued to quake but less and finally he opened his eyes and looked up into Viper's.[/i]

Viper:Alan..

Alan:Viper! You.. you.. in my dream.. I..

Viper:Alan.. shhhh.. it's okay now.. I'm here.. and I promise.. I'm not going to kill man plant and beast alike.. I'm going to protect them.. that's my duty..

Alan:How did you?

Viper:You forget I'm a goddess.. and even if I wasn't.. I love you.. and I know what's bothering you.. I can see it in your eyes..

[i]Alan lifted his right arm and brought Viper's lips down onto his own. Viper smiled mentally as she kissed him back. Without warning, Alan flipped Viper over and savagly held her down as he put his mouth all voer her body.[/i]

The love that night was frenetic and intense, as Alan sought to purge the nightmare by imersing himself in sensations and ecstacy. It did not last for long, but it was powerful and invigorating while it did. It worked, too. When his head hit the knapsack he was asleep, and this time his sleep was untroubled.

[COLOR=royalblue][i]Peregrine sighed deeply, and burried herself deeper into Chole's arms, then she began to dream.....a far-seeing dream, one of her future, present, and past mingled together.......

At first, she was standing on the edge of a vast expanse, looking over the city of Thenyalli, then the rest of the towns and villages..........a dark shadow loomed over it, then spread outwards...towards the Lands of Man.

Then faces spread out in front of her, then disapeared, Chole, Liam, Alander, Viper, Outlaw, and even Lord Obsidian. Each face glowed the color she saw them as, then fadded as white as the magic of Meleani.

Almost immediatly, she saw another star in front of her, seven pointed, sparkling with an amazingly pure light, then the darkness disipated, and everything was completely calm, still, and pure....the cities and villages disapeared, and all she could feel was Chole's hand in hers, and the cool winds from the east......[/i][/COLOR]

[i]Viper's eyes flickered open and she sat up. Turning to her left to face the mountains, Viper saw that they had found themselves at the base of Mount Sapphire and as she craned her neck she saw the very top of the mountain was beginning to turn a lighter shade of blue.

She hastily stood and awoke Peregrine, shaking a groggy Chole awake in the process. She pulled Peregrine up by the arm and pointed to the top of the mountain.[/i]

Viper:Up for a challenge? Your magic is the second strongest here..

Peri:This will be easy as cake..

Viper:But fun at the same time.. To the top before sunrise.. we start at opposite sides of the mountain.. you take the nearest.. I'll take the farthest.. I'll get there faster.. which will give you a head start up the mountian while I'm getting to the other side..

Peri:Ready?

Viper:Gone..

[i]Viper ran faster than any mortal into the forest, intent on coming out the other side. Chole sat with his legs crossed as Alander woke up and sat next to him. He looked around and saw Viper and Peregrine missing.[/i]

Alan:Where are the girls?

[i]Chole lifted one finger and pointed tot he trail of dust and the dark figure scrambling up the closest side of the mountain.[/i]

Chole:Race..

Chole: What?

Liam: You look like a little kid...with no armor on.

Chole: We're safe for now...it's morning, and we're we have a lot of anti-ghost crap.

Alan: *looks up at the mountain* Do they expect us to go after them?

Chole: We can hold on our own.

Liam: *Picks up Viper's pack* and take their stuff with them?

Chole: Hold on...

[i]Chole stared at the tiny dot in the distance and focused in...he saw Perigrine breathing hard with sweat dripping down her face, hair and clothes soaked.[/i]

Liam: Shall we start?

Alan: Let's just take the horses...where are they?

[i]Liam looked into an empty ravine nearby...[/i]

Liam: Don't wanna say it...[/COLOR]

[i]Viper turns her final corner and flies stright up the side of the mountain, top speed when she sees a brilliant white flash, telling her that Peregrine is more than half-way, and that Peregrine has transformed into some animal. Viper's eyes narrowed and she landed on the mountain top. Tranforming quickly, a silver gazzel flew up the mountain's final stretch of land. It could smell the sun sweet air and almost taste the victory as it took a final leap and tranforming back into Viper, landed perfectly on her feet, skirt fluttering around her. Amazingly, aftre Viper had bent forward to brace the impact and was coming back up, Peregrine, or rather a white elk, leapt over the bushes and landed next to Viper, also transofrming back into Peregrine.[/i]

Peri:Should have known not to take on a goddess..

Viper:Quite the contrary really, you did famously, actually, you almost had that goddess.. you were already in the running for goddess but I think your chances just increased 10 fold..

Peri:Well.. complimented by a goddess.. what more can a girl want..

Viper:Ummm..

[i]Viper scanned the area from Mt.Sapphire's peak.[/i]

Peri:What?

Viper:I'd like to know where the horses went..

Peri:What?!

[i]Peregrine transformed into a ... Peregrine.. O_o;; Falcon and flew down to the ground, settling on the dust before changing back to her original self. Viper shrugged and simply leapt from the peak, landing delicately on the soles of her feet, silver hair careening down her shoulders.[/i]

Peri:What do you MEAN you don't know where the horses are?!

Chole:Sorry Peregrine.. I just.. don't..
