1. I used to be afraid of spiders, but the fear passed a few years ago. I guess nature got tired of using me as a joke and finally got rid of my phobia. I still jump a bit when I see them crawling on a wall, but that is just because it is usually dark, and they appear from nowhere. Being as I live in an unicoperated area of town there is a lot of woodlands, and thus a lot of spiders. During the winter they tend to get inside my room, which ticks me off. There is one simple rule that my father thought up about spiders/bugs in the house. "If they are outside they are fine. If they are inside and we see them, they're dead." :D
  2.
Originally posted by WW2 I want to know what is up with the title? Grand Prix? Is it some kind of race, or something?
From the looks of the ads it seems to me that it may be one of those "All-out, mecha-to-mecha, winner-take-all" fighting style of anime. Almost like G Gundam (just hope it is better).
  3. I have rented all the DVDs from my library's collection, and I must say that it is pretty good. I especially like the fact that Kenichi Sonoda does the design of the suits/characters (since I am reading a comic book of his design). The biggest problem I have is that the story near the end seems kind of cheesy compaired to the original Bubblegum Crisis. Other then that I really enjoyed it.
  4. *The Gunsniper skidded to a halt about seven meters from the crystal-encased Geno Sauer, and Evean & Nitsu. Kay popped open the cockpit windscreen and stood up. He looked down and met the eyes of both Evean and Nitsu, who were already looking up at him.* Kay: "You people need any help out here?"
  5. *A rapid beeping filled the Gunsniper's cockpit as the zoid's proximity alert was set off. The light sniper zoid shook under the impact of a large, fast object. Kay released his finger from the sniper rifle's trigger and the seat returned to its forward facing posistion. Greeting Kay just outside the cockpit window was a very large, and very angry looking organoid.* Kay: "Holy.... Where did you come from?" *The organoid growled back at Kay throught the screen. Moving slowly to avoid alerting the organoid, Kay placed both of his feet on a pair of pedals below the forward control panel. Once he was prepared Kay pressed them downward. The Gunsniper launched straight up as the jets kicked in, tossing the organoid off. The zoid landed behind its orginal posistion, and quickly turned and ran toward the battle.*
  6.
Originally posted by Shinji Ikari Perish the thought :p Religion threads usually just end up in bickering, If you read the last one, you'll see why I was asked not to create one. I would not be upset If I never saw another of those blasted things again.
Post about religion always end up like that, unfortunately. Things have been so bad in that respect at another board I frequent that all posts relating to real life religion and politics have been completely banned and are closed immediately by any mod/admin. I guess what I am saying is that I would suggest against starting a religion thread. They tend to draw people that feel the need to argue.
  7. *Kay's black Gunsniper crouched at the edge of a cliff. Normally Kay would only posistion his zoid like this if he was in a battle and planning to use his main gun. This time, however, he was simply using the advanced cameras to watch the scene taking place nearly 2 klicks (kilometers) away. On the screen a Konig Wolf had just landed a hit with one of its drills against a Pteramander.* Kay: "Whoever is in that Konig Wolf is good. Not many could pull of a move like that and not take some damage." *For a reason he could not understand, Kay decided to assist the Konig Wolf. There was just something about that Pteramander that he did not like, something that made him believe the pilot was part of the reason he was suddenly employed. While the Pteramander was stunned by the drill strike, Kay reset his aim and fired, sending a high-velocity round into the Pteramander's torso.*
  8. Yay! Crim kicked Sora's childish ***. *Does the happy dance* Personally, I would find it amusing if Crim had knocked Sora to the edge, where he had to place all his concentration into balancing to avoid a fall. Then have Helba gate in next to Crim and use her wand as a bat, and Sora's face as a ball. And of course, Sora would land on BT and knock her off the side and into the fog. Now that scene would have all the best elements of .Hack//SIGN. :D
  9. There is one thing about this episode that kind of bugged me. At the begining when the group was still in Net Slum Subaru realized that the Guardians were after here. I understand her not knowing it till then, since she was not near Bear when he thought it up in ep. 24, but why did Bear agree with her in a way that made it sound like he had never thought of it first? Oh, well. Guess I will just have to bang my head against a wall until the answer comes to me. :p
  10. I wonder if the growth of the plant symbolized Maha finally breaking away from Morganna's control. After all, that is the only plant that Morganna had not been able to destroy.
Originally posted by K.K.C. Yeah, I watched it again and noticed that. I saw Silver Knight and Mimiru healed, I guess I missed Bear.
No, you didn't. I thought I saw Bear get healed, but he did not. Only Mimiru and Silver Knight. When I wrote that I was working from memories of last night. Guess I should have rewatched it first. :p
  12. I (sort of) know what has happened to Maha, and just in case anyone else wishes to know here it is: Maha's fate: (warning, Major spoilers for .Hack//Outbreak)
From what I have read we learn that Maha will appear in .Hack//Outbreak, revealing that she was disguised as Mia.
As for the sound of Maha's scream, it almost sounded kind of human for a second, just before she disappeared.

    Defeat
Originally posted by K.K.C. That was BT who helped Silver Knight when he fell. I think Tsukasa healed someone, but I dont know who
If you rewatch the fight scene at pay attention to the people who glow green for a moment (when the veiw is from behing Tsukasa) that will tell you who healed. I think I saw Bear and Mimiru, at the very least. Also, if you watch carefully you will see a green sphere fly from Tsukasa's hand (the healing sphere).
  14. Rating: 10/10 This episode was awesome. One of the best ones yet, despite the lack Helba (though Bear did mention her). I agree with K.K.C. (hey, that rhymed) that the characters were drawn really well, but to me it seemed that Subaru looked kind of strange while she was hiding behing the statue with Tsukasa (I think she looked angry). Woohoo!!! Crim won! It was amusing to see Sora fall into the fog below the church. And just as amusing to hear Crim lecture him on how big of a "Total idiot" he was. I feel bad for Maha. On the upside, she managed to finally keep a piece of grass away from Morganna. And did anyone else notice that Maha yelled, even though she never made a sound before. Other intersting things: Tsukasa used magic for once, Bear wants to adopt Tsukasa, and someone finally defeated that Green/Blue Guardian.
  15. *Kay swerved to avoid a large stone pillar as the area was sent into a false noon by an explosion in the distance. It was obvious by the size of the explosion, and its elevation, that an airborn transport had exploded. Shifting gears Kay gunned the engine and made his way to the area. By the time he got there the only thing left was debris scattered across half the landscape.* Kay: "Darn. Not even the tiniest piece is worth salvaging. At least the crew seems to have gotten away. I don't have time to bury them." *As he began to pull away from the area Kay noticed that the ground had be pressed flat in one area, and that area was stretching the way Kay had to go.* Kay: "Hmm. This is interesting. Was it the crew or the saboteurs (sp?) that got away?" *The large transport's engine roared as Kay hit the accelerator and took off in the direction of the tracks. As he drove he began to wonder if it was a good thing that they were going the same way he was.*
  16. Well, with the disclaimer there is little she can do. Also, since when was FLCL rated TV-PG? I never once saw anything like that on the screen. Now, about some of the things she said: >>What we saw was nudity below the waist on a teenage girl>> From what I recall the only time they got close to that was a scene in the 3rd episode where Ninamori is in the bathroom, and even then she was sitting down. Unless they mean the scene later when her panties got caught on Kanti's head, but even then they never showed anything past mid-thigh after they came off. >>kids blowing people's brains out with machine guns>> Now that is total B.S. Yes in episode five Noata was shooting a machine gun, but it had fake bullets. There was also Haruko shooting her guitar, but there was no blood spray, just unconscious people in heaps on the floor. Maybe I missed the part where they blew out someone's brains, but I never remember FLCL going that far. >>extreme violence and sexual content - all being acted out by adolescent characters.>> What is the point there? I can turn on Fox and seen the same thing without having cable. Even standard cable channels do not compare to Fox. >>It doesn't do any good for The Cartoon Network to display a parental warning prior to its late-night programming because parental codes don't lock out a show based on that type of warning. What works is to rate a show correctly in the first place.>> Sounds like the problem is with the digital cable, or TiVo, or whatever they have in that house. Anyway, the parental warning are all you should need if you have a problem with what you watch. >>We have been in contact with the Federal Communications Commission, the ACLU and organizations dealing with violence against children. We have been spreading the word to educators and churches to raise public awareness about this incorrect rating.>> And these people claim they are not "extremists"? All I have to say to that is *coughbull@$#&cough*
  17. Ok, real simple. I am looking for each person's opinion on the greatest mecha in any anime, and a GOOD reason why you prefer that particular mecha. (Please note: I said a good reason because I want to avoid anyone spamming this thread) My opinion and reason: I prefere the Hardsuits shown in the series Bubblegum Crisis (also the Tokyo 2040 version). One of the main reasons I like them is because it is so rare in anime to see a group of women piloting mecha suits (especially ones shaped like that). Another reason is that the Hardsuit designs were done by Kenichi Sonoda, and I am a huge fan of his artwork. The final reason for this is that it is nice to not see mecha that do not dwarf entire buildings.
  18. There is one problem with your idea, Shinji Ikari. There are some Guru quizes that will not work with. For instance, the "Which Anime Mecha Are You?" does not have very specific URL's. In there I found the Hardsuits from Bubblgum Crisis, but the URL only used the word Bubble. That leads me to wonder how the other mecha pages are named. All the Guru really needs is a link on each result page that links to another page containing all of the answers to that quiz, or maybe all of them. That way everyone keeps their sanity, instead of having to waste a lot of time trying out numerous answers.
  19. >>X18999 Colony is an L-1 colony that the Wing Gundam was built. It is also where Heero took off from for Operation Meteor.>> Are you sure that is right? I wonder because in GW:EW X18999 is part of the L3 cluster and is where
Marimea (bad spelling) started her plans to take over Earth. Not to mention the colony that was set to crash on Earth if needed.
20. Go to www.animelyrics.com That site has a good selection of lyrics from a lot of anime titles. EDIT: BTW, for future reference, any Japanese words written with english letters are called Romanji.
  21.
Originally posted by Hack Helba Ok... now what about the killer snake?
First off, make sure you an elk are bulked up. Do not just jump into the dungeon blindly, clear the field first. Next, the Killer Snaker is an Earth Element monster (IIRC), so buy a lot of Wood Element attacks and just keep hitting it until you can Data Drain. Also, as for the weapons, make sure you check that the character you give them to can use them. Some weapons and armor cannot be used by certain character types. This will be listed in the weapon's description at the bottom of the screen.
  22.
Originally posted by Hyper No, Morganna sent the Phases after Aura, which caused her to awaken (or at least that's my theory). Skeith was instructed to chase her, and in his pursuit, Aura awoke and fled.
According to the last episode of .Hack//SIGN
Aura will awaken once Tsukasa if finally able to log out of the world.
That leads me to believe that the Phases were orignally sent after Tsukasa and the rest of the group since (IIRC) Skeith appeared before
Tsukasa logs out.
23. All of the .Hack opening are good, but in particular I prefer "Thousand and One Nights" from the .Hack//Liminality part 2 DVD. The music is played at a perfect pace and the lyrics sound great. Then again, the band, See-Saw, that sings for .Hack and Noir is my favorite band right now. :p
  24. *On his return to Kell's garage Kay was interupted by the beeping sound of the transport's communication system. There was only one person that knew what frequency and code to use, and only one reason why he would call. Kay placed an earpiece with attached boom microphone on his right ear and activated it.* Kay: "Go ahead, Kell." Kell: "You got a job offer over here. Of course the call alone should have told you that." Kay: "Of course. What is the job?" Kell: "I am not sure. Our contact 'Black Boxed' us. All that is here is the name Loyd and a contact point on the outskirts of Helic City." Kay: "Do you mean the bar that Cox always insists on?" Kell: "That would be the one, and based on the money transfered to you account it would have to be him. If he is calling this will be a hard assignment." Kay: "Good, I was getting tired of sitting around. I am going to head directly to Helic City. Send the info to my computer, then delete what was sent." *Kay turned the the transport down the next street and headed in the direction of Helic City. The ride there would take a few days, and the terrain along the way was bad enough to make Kay wish he had a chance to find air transportaion. Despite these problems it would be good to get away from any cities for a few days, and the mountains along the way tended to provide an excellent scenic route.*
  25. How dare you disgrace the phoenix myth with that pic....oh, wait. I see it now. :p (j/k) A very intersting picture, to say the least. It made me realize something. I have been wathing too many shows dealing with hospitals on TV. My first thought was of the inside of a person's esophagus (sp?). Maybe I should cut down on my TV watching. ;)
