I know that only a select few of us have Wiis right now, but I decided that this game was good enough to get a thread anyway. And the people who don't have Wii's yet that are hesitant should know that it's actually a lot of fun. Baseball: 1-2 players. 2 Players requires 2 Wiimotes. You hold the Wiimote like a baseball bat (straight in the air behind your head) and swing when the ball gets close to your Mii. If you hit it, you can get either a triple (three bases), double (two bases), single (one base), home run, foul ball (counts as a strike unless you're on your last strike), and Out (when they catch it close to a base or they catch it before it hits the ground). Once your turn is done (there are three innings), you pitch. You can do fastballs and curveballs, overhand throws and underhand throws. Pitching is incredibly easy. Tennis: 1-4 players. 4 Players requires 4 Wiimotes. You hold the Wiimote how you would a tennis racket and hit either front hand or back hand when the ball gets to your character. Very simple stuff. Bowling: 1-4 players. 4 Players can be done with 1 Wiimote. You hold the Wiimote up at your head and press B, holding it down. You bring the Wiimote back as your Mii walks forward and swing the Wiimote forward, letting go of B, as if you were throwing the ball. Takes some getting used to, but fun nonetheless. You can also move your character left and right, and angle shots. Golf: 1-4 players. 4 Players can be done with 1 Wiimote. You hold the Wiimote like a club and swing. But not too hard, it's pretty picky about that. You've got a driver, an iron, a wedge and a putter. There's wind that pushes against your ball, 9 holes, and hills on the green. Lots of fun. Boxing: 1-2 players. 2 Players requires 2 Wiimotes and 2 Nunchuk attachments. You use both the Wiimote and the Nunchuk as hands and just jab away. You can also lift them to your face to block, sway to the left to dodge and punch in combos for extra damage. This is A LOT of fun once you get the hang of it. And, on top of all that, there are also three training modes for each sport, and a daily fitness age tracker (very much like the brain one in Brain Age). I recommend you play this with a friend because it makes the experience a lot more fun but it's still good with just yourself.

So far the difficulty has seemed to be about on par with Ocarina of Time. Meaning that, for me, it's basically a walk in the park. But then Zelda is[/i'] kind of my specialty. Though I did actually die once. It was my first encounter with the shadow beast things while in wolf form. I was charging up the area attack when all three of them jumped me at the same time, killing me before I could do anything; three hearts, three hits, and down I went. :animesigh
Just wait until you get
Epona
back. There's a nice
horseback fight waiting somewhere
. ;)
But other than that I've never been in much danger of dying. All the enemies I've encountered so far are easy prey (the shadow beasts haven't hit me since, now that I know how to deal with them) and hearts are abundant. The first boss has about eight hearts stocked in its room, I think it was.
Yeah, the enemies are extremely easy I find. In fact I mostly just die from falling. ...come to think of it, that's the only way I've died (though falling off a bridge and falling into a river of lava are two very different things).
Okay, so, the Gale Boomerang. Yeah, it's frickin' awesome[/i'] when combined with pointer control. I absolutely love being able to whip it out toss it where I want with just a quick aim of the pointer. Another great thing is the ability to set lock-on points wherever you want, unlike in TWW where only targetable objects could be locked onto. The boomerang has finally become just as useful as in the 2D Zeldas and that makes me very happy.
The boomerang is so cool. The Z lock-on, like you mentioned, just rocks your socks off immediately and the whole mini-tornado is sweet too. I just loved throwing the boomerang at those tile guys and watching them fly into the air.
My favorite part about Wolf Link, in fact, is his jump attack. He leaps forward, bites the enemy and, if the baddie is large enough, latches on for you to keep biting by tapping the A button. It seriously looks like you're ripping the thing's throat out while it flails around helplessly. It's just . . . satisfying. :toothy:
Yeah, I actually like it more when you use it on a small enemy like a bat. You literally bite in its wing, flail it around a bit, and then throw it away, killing it.

Just so nobody can try and use the image URL of the cards I sent via PM to try and prove who they are, I'm posting all four images here as well. :) http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/5890/2mk0.png http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/2741/aceyc3.png http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/6003/jokerdu2.png http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/6452/kingav5.png There. Even though the URLs are a bit different, it's still the same image so if someone tries to say "But my URL is the real one!" they could have just re-uploaded it on ImageShack. :whoops:
Another question for everyone who has Twilight Princess. So, what's with the storyline? Are you guys too early into the game to tell or is it really that good?
The storyline is fairly deep for what you would think to be such a simple game. Though, Zelda games always have great storylines. But yeah, it's really cool. A breath of fresh air when you compare it to more recent games (though it's very similar to a couple other LoZ games). As for the difficulty, I haven't had a whole lot of trouble yet. I didn't die the first dungeon, but I have died a few times in the second so I can tell it's getting a bit harder. The puzzles aren't complicated either, but they can take some time to figure out. However, once you do figure them out, it's easy as pie (unlike other Zelda games *coughwatertemplecough*). So, yeah. Just got my
Hero's Bow
and I'm now going to bed.
Wait, why would you call Epona
while you're a wolf? It's not like you can ride her (... cough cough

Alright, I got my Wii and rented Zelda. I've now racked up a near 7 hours in two days (though I was home from school today so I did get some time in there, ha ha) and I love it. How can you tell? The last 5 hours were all played continuously, no bathroom or food breaks at all. In fact, I'm only now having my first meal of the day. The sad life of an addicted gamer, I tell you. lol Camera: As far as the camera goes, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I don't have to do anything at all. Some of you like to have a little more control but for me, just a simple "follow your characters back when he moves" view is just dandy. That, combined with pressing the "Z" button (lock on mode) to move the camera back behind your character makes for perfect view. Fight System: I'm in the second dungeon right now, equipped with
Rusl's sword and a Hylian shield
. I've mastered
two hidden techniques - the finishing blow and shield attack -
and I just adore how you fight. The Wiimote usage is perfect. Not too much, not too little. You feel part of the game, even though you're just sitting on your couch (Yeah, you don't have to be incredibly active to play WiiTP. At one point I was laying down with my cat sleeping on my legs and I did just fine). To swing your sword you just swing your Wiimote. A lot of the time your sword doesn't swing the same direction you swung the Remote, but you get used to it. To jab, you press forward on the analog stick and simply make a jabbing or swinging motion with the remote. To lock on, you press Z (on the Nunchuk attachment) and hold it. While locked on, you can press A to jump and do a downward slice. The
shield push is a fun one. While locked on, you just jab your left hand (the Nunchuk hand) forward and Link will jab his shield forward.
Neat, huh? Epona: Lots of fun on the horse. Instead of an Ocarina or Wind.. Thing.. from TWW, Link uses
grass (in Human form) and howls (in Wolf form)!
Anyway, once you call Epona over, you get on her with A and just steer with the analog stick, pressing A to dash. Simple stuff. I won't say much more than that because I'd really like for you guys to just try it and find out for yourselves some of the fun stuff that comes up. So far some highlights include
sumo wrestling, goat herding (yeah, that was a highlight for me), the hawk and jousting
. Cheers. EDIT: I forgot to mention that fishing is done really easily. It's done entirely (no buttons once you bring out the rod) with motion, which is nice.

I'd really just like a couple Wii Remotes (maybe one with a nunchaku attachment) and a party game for the Wii, since I'm getting my Wii in a few hours. This'll make for fun times with friends, because playing video games alone is nowhere near as much fun as it is with friends*. :) I'd also like... ah who am I kidding, I really just want Wii games and Wii accessories. That's it. And maybe some clothes. *By friends, I mean real friends. Not the ones you play against on Xbox Live or Warcraft.
I mean, yeah, there are flaws in everyone's work no matter how many times we double or triple check our work and there always will be. The only thing you can do about that is take what other people like and try to transmorgify your own styles; whether the opinion comes from members like Dagger and Retribution or members like DeadSeraphim and PapaSmurf - no offense to any of you four. I would've said to Sandy, '...just take the helpful posts of the other members here and decide what to do later.'; but since Sandy has beaten me to the punch whilst I was away making money, i'll just leave the situation alone. The last thing I wanna do is play with an unstable nuclear missle during takeoff, vis a vis: Members trying to help Sandy with opinions and facts concerning his upcoming event in Otaku Idol 2.[/size']
Sandy wouldn't have gotten half the criticism he did if he hadn't reacted so defensively.

Holy... Alright, I've finally read through all of this and while I would love to respond to every little post like Sandy has, I won't. Why? Because I don't want to. Mafia has gotten it's fair share of compliments, yeah, but it's not like it hasn't gotten any criticism either.
What are you even trying to do, get me to drop out of this contest? No matter how much resistance I get for my event, I'm going to pull it through with people who are actually interested in it, and in the end it's Shy[/I']'s decision if it was good enough or not.
Not entirely true. While it is Shy that ultimately decides who wins (if he chooses a winner, that is) he won't go picking someone that the majority of the community doesn't approve of. I mean, it's the Community Event Master, after all. Anyways, I appreciate all the compliments and constructive criticism Mafia has recieved. I'm actually trying to think of a way I could make Mafia a little bit more OtakuBoards-related, but it's turning out to be easier said than done, lol. I have, however, thought of a way to involve members of OB that won't be signing up for Mafia in the event. They won't have a huge influence on the event, but it will be enough to get rid of a few people (not directly). Something to look forward to, I guess. ;)
My questions are these. All candidates are required to answer them in full: 1) How do you feel your standing in the OtakuBoards community has impacted the success (or lack thereof) of your event's sign-ups? Be specific. 2) How do you feel the standing of each other candidate in the OtakuBoards community has impacted their own success (or lack thereof)? Be specific. 3) Do you feel you have adequately promoted your event to the OtakuBoards community? How are you doing that? 4) Will your event be able to continue if you do not receive the quantity or quality of sign-ups you expected? What will need to change? 5) How have your expectations for member interest compared to actual member interest in your event? How do you feel about that? 6) What do you blame for a lack of interest in these events so far? Please be specific. -Shy
1) I like to think that the fact that I'm a mod and/or a well-known member has nothing to do with getting good views, but I think we all know that isn't entirely true. A lot of people, I've noticed, won't even take a second glance at an Event/RP if the layout doesn't appeal to them or if the font is all wrong and the same goes for the creator of the thread. For some (and I won't say most, because I don't think that) people, they won't even read a thread if the creator has a bad past or is fairly new. Sometimes I wonder if Adam and some no-name member with a string of numbers attached to their screen name posted the exact same sign-up (with a different thread title) in the Adventure Inn a week apart, would there be any difference in the amount of views and replies? While it's impossible to know for sure, I think we can safely say that Adam would at least get more views than Noname123. However that, I do not think, is the case here. Gavin, Sandy and I are all very well-known members. I would even argue that Gavin is more well-known than myself (in the adventure square, at least) so I really don't think member status has affected anything so far. 2) My answer to number 1 is also an answer to number 2, really. Sandy, Gavin and I have basically the same standing on OB (aside from Sandy and I being staff members, but that would only attract very new members) so I doubt our status has affected the replies/views of our events. If you look, Mafia [The Town] may have the most views, but Mafia [The Underground] has the least. Both of them are mine. 3) Two days before the event was posted, I changed my avatar to a Mafia-like icon with the text "don't sleep" on it (if anyone had read the summary in this thread, they would know it was a reference to Mafia). Same with the custom title I made at the same time, "kill or be killed" which is a bit less obvious but still something. When the thread was posted on Monday, I changed my signature to a completely Mafia-inspired piece. I've had a Mafia banner (you know it's Mafia because of the text) in there since Monday and there are two links underneath the banner which forward you to my event. There isn't a whole lot you can do other than that (though I do have plans for some other stuff) aside from spreading the news by mouth. I know for a fact that just telling friends to check out the Community Events forum has gotten me at least one sign-up. 4) My event isn't very specific with the amount of members needed. I said 12 but I could easily fit in more or have less if I needed. The beauty of it is if you sign-up, and your answers to the questions are decent, you're basically guaranteed a spot. I've played Mafia with upwards to 30 people before and it worked out just as well as 8. 5) I was actually a little shocked at how interested some people were in Mafia. I guess I should have expected it, since nothing like this has been done on OB before, but it was still a nice surprise. Initially I thought Mafia would be slaughtered by Kumite and Labyrinth. So much writing.. so much though put into them... and Sandy and Gavin are both way better with words than I am. However, I didn't really think from a member's perspective. What they see are two glorified RP's and an Event. That's what I think, anyway. 6) I think part of the lack of interest isn't lack of interest at all, but just a lack of members. A lot of my normal OB friends haven't even checked out the Community Events forum in a while and therefor didn't even know about Mafia, Labyrinth and Kumite. However, there is still lack of interest. Part of this may be because of bad experiences with Mafia (though the majority of members have never even heard of Mafia before) but I think it's mostly because (in Mafia's case) members just don't feel like it. They don't have time for an event, or they don't think they could do it (although Mafia is extremely easy to pick up on!) so they just don't bother. This is why they need some serious motivation! :)
Just the other day I was reading that Sony apparently will now only really be pushing their first units towards major store chains.
Yeah, I heard that they broke half (probably an exaggerated number) of their consoles they had planned on releasing for launch day. I think I'll give you guys a few more days (until Monday, we'll say) and then we'll get this show on the road. All of your submissions are just fine, by the way. I'll let in about six more people.
Hmmm.....I would probably go with eating a spider for unknown reasons. I guess it just all depends on how big the scorpion and/or type it is, same goes for the spider. Here I go again. Would you rather be on the Oprah Winfrey show? Or.... Would you rather be on the Dr. Phil show? P.S. I loved that WTF about the pool of chili ChibiHorsewoman, that really cracked me up. Thank you.
I would definitely go on the Oprah show. Because if I'm on the Dr. Phil show, it means I had a problem and he's helping me fix it, but if I'm on Oprah, then I already fixed my problem. :) And since my questions were blatantly ignored by CHW and Kurayami, I'll repost them. Would you rather... Be forced to sit in front of a computer for the rest of your life? OR Never be able to use a computer again (ever!).
Hmmm....I'm going to have to go with the three year's of love. Because, I stick strong to the saying "Better to have loved and lost than never loved at all." So basically that mean's that I would rather loved than not have loved, even if it's only for a short time. Here we go again. Would you rather drown in a pool of chili? Or..... Would you rather drown in a pool of chili with hot sauce? (Tricky one ain't it?)
Not very tricky at all. I definitely enjoy my chili with hot sauce so if I'm going to die eating chili it better taste the way I like it, damn it. Anyway, would you rather... You obviously didn't have a very "deep" group then. I don't know about you, but when my friends play we are really into it. One of my older friends was the Mafia once and he pinned the blame on his pregnant wife, calling her the devil (he's a youth pastor, by the way) just so he wouldn't get killed off. If someone is constantly accusing Mafia, chances are they're either the Detective or the Mafia. So, if they would have said they were the detective before they died then they actually did die, obviously they were the detective and you now know who the Mafia is. EDIT: As for the Priest, his/her skills will start becoming useful when there are less people in the game (a better chance they bless someone being killed).

If they forgot a rating, then it's their own fault. They deserve to have to recreate the thread. lol

Hey, kaiyukianime. First of all, welcome (back) to OtakuBoards. Second of all, you have unfortunately broken the rules (eek!). I know it may seem bad, but it can be fixed. Your grammar and spelling seems to be alright (which is a nice change compared to some other recent new members), though the double question marks worries me so that's OK. But you need to fill out your post a bit more. I love how you posed some questions but you should answer them yourself too. Give other members an example, y'know? So, for now, the Thread is Closed but you can recreate the topic with a better introduction post if you like. :)

Welcome, one and all, to the Mafia underground. This is where anything and everything that doesn't involve actual in-event topics. You can ask me questions about the event (if there are enough, I'll put up an FAQ), discuss who you think the Mafia is (though I encourage you to do that in private, lol), or even just motivate people to do their tasks (accusations, defending, etc). The Game Based on the popular real life game "Mafia." This event will involve 13 members, not including myself or Shy. Through the Private Messaging system on OtakuBoards, I will send each of the 13 members a "card." There are four cards in total: One Ace (the Detective), one King (the Priest), two Jokers (the Mafia) and cards 2 through 10 (the townsfolk). The aim of the game is, if you are not the Mafia, to get rid of the Mafia. If you are the Mafia, however, the aim of the game is to kill off everyone in the town. To do this, the game will go through a one week process involving a few steps. The Steps Day 1 and 2: The entire town "goes to sleep" and the Priest wakes up Private Messaging me with the name of someone they would like to "bless." If this person was the person elected by the Mafia then they do not die. The Priest goes to sleep and the Mafia wake up to PM me with the name of someone they would like to kill. This person will die when the town wakes up. The Mafia go to sleep. The Detective wakes up and Private Messaging me with who they think the Mafia is. If they are right, I will tell them they so. Detective goes to sleep. Town wakes up to find so-and-so dead (unless they were blessed that night). Day 2 - 4: The most interesting part of the game. This is the time period in which the town has to "discuss" who they think is the mafia. Only the Mafia, the Priest and the Detective can lie. The townsfolk may not lie. Once the time limit is up, the next step begins. Day 4 - 6: Accusations. Three members participating in the game will post one member they think is the Mafia and a reason why. Once three accusations have been made, everyone has 2 days to add onto the accusations and after that... Day 6 and 7: Defense. The three members that were accused will get one post to defend themselves, responding to the accusations. Once all three defense posts have been made, everyone will PM me with who they vote for and the most popular person is killed off. After this, everyone goes back to sleep and we go back to step 1. The game ends when either the Mafia kills off all but 3 people (or 1, depending on the amount of Mafia left) or when both Mafia have been hung at trial. Extra Info... The nice thing about Mafia is almost anyone can play it and it's just incredibly easy to pick up on. The game still involves a lot of strategy, though. The Mafia must wield the ability to lie correctly or else they may end up screwing themselves over. If the Detective does find out who the Mafia is, he/she's still got to convince other townsfolk that he knows to get rid of them. But you've got to be careful because you might accidentally be trying to convince another Mafia person. To Sign Up! Simply fill out the following form. Just a few well-written sentences per question is fine. Why do you think being Mafia would be the best? Why do you think being Townspeople would be the best? Have you played a version of Mafia before?
If so, did you like it? If not, why do you want to try it?
Please ask all questions in the underground! All sign-ups should be posted in this thread.

Is Jeff the new Jigsaw? Because after Jigsaw dies, he says he wants to play a new game. And he has Jeff's daughter hidden somewhere. Also I heard Saw was going to be made into a continuing franchise so yeah, imo it would make sense for him to 'live for revenge' as the new Jigsaw.

Nah, the whole new game thing was just a way to say "haha, you're an idiot" and to give the audience even more reason to laugh at Jeff and his stupidity. If Jeff played off of vengeance then it wouldn't be Saw. It would be what happened with Amanda and that's not cool, lol. I also recall hearing Tobin Bell (Jigsaw) saying Saw was a trilogy somewhere.
:)
So can I have a second chance?
No. I'm sure you'll be fine on your own for now, maybe your character and ours will meet up at a later time, but for now I don't think having you travel with us is the best idea. The way you commented on Tekkaman's post was just a little harsh sounding and you could've been just a little bit kinder. :)
[spoiler']And to correct an earlier comment about the room with chains, the victim actually did take all the chains off, I think. The bomb blew up anyway. One of the whole points of the film was that Amanda (I forget her name, I think that was it) isn't like Jigsaw - she's not teaching a lesson and providing a chance to escape, she's simply murdering people.

Well, he didn't take the one off of his mouth/jaw, which is why he died. The whole Amanda not letting him live thing was the favt that the only door in the room was welded shut. Actually I thought the whole first three traps that Jeff had to do was really neat. In the first Ice Shower one, he's "running away" from the witness who ran away from the scene of the crime. He was "judging" the judge, deciding whether or not to free him. And the twisting crucifix has still got me stumped.
