Writing O' Brother not another, OB parody! [PG-13-LS}
Ellerby replied to Aberinkula's topic in Creative Works
Your comma is in the wrong place in the title. It should go after Brother if anything (think of the comma as a pause). On to the actual story... It was very bland. First of all, there was absolutely no story and it had some serious spelling errors. Second of all, you don't even know Will, Boris or Mike. Maybe you talk to Will, but I know you don't talk to Boris so you certainly don't know him well enough to put him in a story. The capitals in "WE DON'T SERVE MEAT" isn't necessary. There are bold and italics for that kind of thing. There were also quite a few grammar errors. I suggest using SpellCheck.net before posting. And I'm not sure if this was intentional or not, but it's 'Goo Goo Mai' not 'Moo Goo Gai'. -
Panting like he had never before, Coco, followed by Liam, finally caught up to their friend who was accompanied by two other teenagers around the same age. One was a stunning young lady and the other was a relaxed teenage guy with shockingly red hair. The three of them seemed to be getting along just fine. "Crap can you ever run," said Liam, who was still breathing heavily, "You should seriously consider Track and Field." Cody turned and looked at his old friend, patting him on the back with a small chuckle. "Nah, I'm just naturally talented at everything." he joked, causing the two new kids to laugh and Coco and Liam to roll their eyes. Cody wasn't normally cocky so it was obvious he was trying to impress the boy and girl. Liam stood up straight and stretched his arms while Coco nodded a small greeting to the visitors with a smile. "The name is Coco.." he smiled. The girl nodded back and bowed her head, taking Coco by surprise. "A pleasure, Coco." she said. The other boy also did the 'guy nod' and smirked. "I won't be bowing or anything, but the name's Archer if you're interested." he replied smoothly. Liam also introduced himself the group began chatting like old friends. The whole clump of them seemed to have a rare connection and instantly got along.

Meh. I couldn't care less. To be honest I never noticed that Link was left-handed and it really doesn't bother me. At the same time, I can understand why it would bug a Link-Fan such as yourself. If they say... changed Mario's eye colour to yellow or something in Super Mario Galaxy, I too would consider buying the Gamecube version (if there was one). Having a right handed Link never mattered in the past, but this time around you're not just pressing a button, you're swinging the controller, so having the sword in the same hand the controller is in makes things much easier (since the majority of us are right-handed). Though, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a left handed option like they seem to have in almost all DS games.

Alright, we have a winner! The correct answer was that I have never broken a bone in my body. I use Photoshop, not PSP, the only other country I've been to is USA and I've got zero Grandparents, not three. You're turn, Mewprincess. Three false, one true.

There actually isn't in real life but I won't get into that. XD And hey! The whole coincidence thing just adds to the story, right? *feels bad for the glasses girl* ;__;

Sandy has brought up the point of a City. I really don't think it matterr since we won't be there for long, but if you really need a name we'll go with Toronto, Canada (I don't know why you would assume USA, heh). In case any of you are wondering what to do, just introduce your characters into the story (maybe include something about their powers) and get them to Matchell Park. The way you find out about Matchell Park doesn't have to be Whisper Wind, either. Be creative. :p

"Alright," started Coco who had just finished his drink. "My hand just recently started glowing every once in a while and sometimes shadows around Cody move when the shadow's object isn't. There. I said it." he explained. Liam gave them a look of uncertainty until something clicked in his head. His eyes widened and he grabbed Cody by the shoulders, shaking him. "You guys too?!" "...what?" said a baffled Cody. Liam stepped back and let go of his friend, sinking into the couch nearby. Liam pulled out a lighter and switched it on. He grabbed a tissue from the Kleenex box beside him and dipped it into the flame. Putting the light away afterwards. To Coco and Cody's amazement, the fire on the tissue just stayed in one place, not spreading at all. Eventually the flame died out. Nobody said anything for a few seconds. "Where'd you get those tissues?!" Cody asked Coco jokingly. After all three guys laughed, Cody put his serious face on. "Really, though," he said. "I think it's obvious what's going on here. ...aliens." Just then, one of the windows nearby swung open and a strong a strong gust of wind flowed through the open hole. As if the wind itself was whispering in their ears, each boy heard the same thing. Elements. Gather at Matchell Park.

Alright, sorry this took so long. :animeswea

I use Paint Shop Pro.
I've traveled to another continent.
I've never broken a bone in my body.
I've got 3 Grandparents.

"Uh.. okay," Cody began, his voice stuttering a bit. "I know this is going to sound crazy but.." "You can make a flashlight too?!" Coco interupted. Cody stepped back a little bit and gave Coco the weirdest look he had ever given anyone. Coco slumped into the chair behind him and sighed. "Turn off the lights." he said to Cody. Cody flipped the switch and looked around. All of the sudden a light flickered on from where Coco was. Cody shrugged. "Wow. You can turn on a flashlight." he remarked. But his words slowed at the end when he realized what the source of the light was. "Is that..." "My finger? Yeah." "Shine it on me." Coco complied and was shocked when Cody's shadow began to move, where Cody wasn't. "..what does this mean?" The doorbell rang. "Shit! Turn the light on!" Coco curled his hand into a fist and stood up straight while Cody turned the light on. They both gave eachother quick "keep it secret" looks and walked casually towards the door. It was Liam.

Heya, Azarath! Just so you know, your post is currently a little difficult to read. Remember to put a space after each period and work on your grammar! Feel free to PM myself, Bombu, or Kei (OB's very own Grammar Fanatic) if you've got any questions about post quality. You should also read over the OtakuBoards Rules to get a better idea of what we expect from the members here at OtakuBoards. - White

Oh boy, that was awesome. I really can't think of much to say except that it was incredibly entertaining (especially considering I haven't seen Avenue 6). It really did seem like a broadway song and I could even play it through my head (even if the tune was different from the actual song it's based off). I expect more! And soon!

How did you come up with your internet/screen name ?
Ellerby replied to corpseman's topic in General Discussion
Seeing that this is the first and only online place I?ve ever joined (besides e-mail) I was clueless as to how one goes about choosing a name. So since my daughter is a member I finally settled on her user name followed up with the _Mom part as I?m her mother. I?ve been called mom for so long that the idea of having a different name just seems strange. And even if I did try to change it, I wouldn?t even know what to change it too. :animesigh
In all honesty, I think that almost all the teenagers (and some others) on OtakuBoards think of you as the OB Mom. I know that whenever I see you've posted in a thread I'll be posting in, I clean up my post a little bit just because it feels right. You should definitely just change your name to Mom. -
Well, since I don't have the money to get 2 next-gen gaming systems, I can only get one. And I chose the 360 over the Wii because of better games and over the Ps3 because of price. And I basically want my 360 just so I can have the joy of playing Halo 3 in high definition. Ah, what a fine January day that will be(I hope). So, as you can tell by my custom title, i'm really anticipating the release of Halo 3.[/COLOR']
...you wanted to spend less money so you bought a 360? O_o P.S. Nintendo has updated their Wii Website. Click here. Some interesting things to note on the new site would be...

Big Brain Academy for the Wii. Players: 1-2
Wario Ware: Smooth Moves. Players: 1 (it then says Players: some 2-5 players).
Super Mario Galaxy. Players: 1-2. Two players? Sweet.
The website has tons of other stuff to drool about, but something you should consider checking out is The Games List.

How did you come up with your internet/screen name ?
Ellerby replied to corpseman's topic in General Discussion
Let's see how my answers have changed over time! :whoops:
On that note.. My OB name comes from Scorpio. Which is a Zodiac, Scorpion! I myself am a Scorpio. Since, I couldn't think of anything better I put Scorpio. BUT! There are these things called Alt-Codes and § is one of them. Soo.... §corpio! There you have it. But I'm thinking of changing my name anyways... :cross: -=§=-

I chose mine because... I'm also a Scorpio. Like alot of other people here. Because Scorpio's rule! Ending with the great quote of Terpischore... I am SCORPIO - hear me ROAR!

This has got to be the third time I have posted in a thread similiar to this one. To start off, I first joined OB as Winged-Kid in January, 2003. I stayed around as Winged-Kid for about four months, which is when I decided I wanted a different screenname. So, because I was such a noob, I created a new account to get the different name. Thus creating, Roket. After that, not even a month later, I wanted another screenname. So, I made §corpio. After creating §corpio (when I wanted to change my name for the third time) is when I found out about the name changing. So much later (around the time Logan became Leh) I became Lrb. But enough about that, let's hear the background of each name.

Winged-Kid was originally chosen because, when I was in elementary school, I fantasized about being able to fly and all that. It also happened to be in my e-mail at the time. Nothing interesting there.
Roket was derived from me finding Sonic fan-art. It was an albino porcupine (it was made using a Knuckles sprite) and I decided to name it Roket. Thinking Roket was a cool name, I wanted it. Again, nothing interesting.
§corpio came from my zodiac. It was around the time I found this book all about star signs and such in my house. I read about Scorpio and the other symbols a lot and decided it'd be neat to take Scorpio as my screenname (but with the § because it "looked cool").
Lrb time! The only screenname I chose that has a fairly interesting story behind it. Basically, my friends (along with some friends' parents and some teachers) all call me by my last name (it's a nickname, I guess). It's Ellerby. A long time ago, I figured out that you could also spell it L-r-b (because of the way it's pronounced), so I took Lrb as my screenname.
Wasn't that fun? ^_~
And now I guess I should explain White. I was getting sick of Lrb and people making fun of it. Larb this, Lerb that. It was annoying as hell. However I never got my name changed just because I couldn't think of something. It was one day, when I was walking to my friend's highschool at lunch that I looked around at the snow surrounding me and thought... White. It was really just a spur of the moment thing. I got home, PMed Des for a name change and made a matching banner and avatar saying "FormerlyLrb" with a snowflake. -
I re-did number 3, switching the theme of it from Music to Text. Oddly enough, one of the games I'm looking forward to most is Wii Sports. When I was younger, my dad, my brother and I always played baseball games on the SNES. My dad hasn't played a baseball game with us since Ken Griffey Jr.'s Winning Run but with the easy-to-understand Wiimote controls, I'm sure the three of us will be playing baseball again. The reason I was sad to hear the delay of Super Mario Galaxy was simply because I'm about a ten times bigger Mario fan than I am a Zelda fan. Don't get me wrong, I love Zelda, but there's just something about Mario games that gets me overly-excited.

This is what I have so far, tell me if you like the ideas of any of them and I'll go back and play around some more.
Overall I'm happy with what I've heard, although I am not looking forward to waiting for Mario.
No kidding. I was mighty pissed when I heard it wasn't going to be a launch title. Hopefully it'll be out in time for Christmas because as soon as the Wii comes out I'm going to be dead broke for quite some time. Anyway, I'm not too thrilled about the price, but really I don't mind. Most of my friends are getting a Wii so when they come over to play, they can just bring their own controllers. Obviously in the future I'll buy more controllers, but I'm in no rush.

The only reason Time is overpowered is because.. well, they have power over time. If you could pause or rewind time whenever you felt like it, you could do anything. Sure, you can put restraints on the person but even so... Anyway, so far Adas and I have gotten these ideas down (from Sandy and Engel). Tell us what you guys think.

Arcane
Gravity
Energy (that's a big maybe since we're all using elemental energy)

Considering that I'm positive Gavin is from Ireland, I'm going to assume he can speak Irish. I also think number 4 is obviously true. I'm going to say that "Fact" Number 3 is false because I've never heard you say anything about you liking acting in anyway.

Actually they weren't trapped or helpless. The doors to the Cafeteria were all open, it was just a matter of getting to them. Anyway... I live about 5 hours away from Montreal and it really troubled me when I heard that someone would do this. Did he even attend the school? Blase, I realize what your trying to say about the School Security, but what can you do? I know with my school we have some police officers regularly check up on us from day to day, and we have specific "safe" locations for a Code Red (someone has a weapon and is in the school) all over the school.
