When you ask if we should focus on events back home, I don't see where space exploration takes our focus of the events, and problems on earth. If you're asking if NASA should quit blasting monkeys into space and begin worrying about our planets problems-- Then no; I don't believe it should. I may not know much concerning this topic but, I don't see where space exploration is our main focus. I find it no different than deep sea exploration in the matter of "is there anything to be gained". There are many oraganizations, industries, governmental, etc etc, That main concerns are the events here on earth. Space exploration is a small issue in the long run. Now getting back to the question "Is there anything to be gained in space?", There is always a possibility, and that's what we're trying to answer-- What's out there? There literally is a universe to discover, and with it many things could be gained, or it may be a complete waste. Who knows? I'm sure there are many factors that could be used to argue that there is much to be gained from all forms of research. I'm sure there were people in history who may of asked "Is there anything to be gained from a microscope, and cell research?" That may be a poor example, but it gets the point across. [FONT=Trebuchet MS]I, as a mod, rarely post in something that isn't mod related. I believe the Otaku Lounge, for one, is keep well under control, and that no more mods are needed in that area. I am on VERY often, and spend a great deal of time to read all current threads, and review all posts. When I am not able to do so, there is Panda, Dagger, Des, James, and Raiyuu who all can moderate over that forum. If you, or anyone feels there is a post, or member who needs to be dealt with, the best thing you can do is report that post. Report post instantly sends an e-mail to all of that forum's moderators. I don't know about Raiyuu, or Panda, but I check my e-mail very regulary. So, though I do not engage myself in discussions, I am well active on the boards. Now, that is just for the Otaku Lounge. I can't tell you how well the other forums are being dealt with. I guess I do not fully understand your concerns. Do you feel the forums are not well under wraps? That there are not dealt with quickly? Or are you just trying to help us few out? Maybe this was already stated in your opening post, but it was not clear to me. In the future we will see several staff changes. I assume at around the time the new site is created. But, that is an issue only James could say.[/FONT]

Next we have the other 75% of the banner. Which is all gray. However! I am pleased with fading between the picture and the gray filling. So atleast it isn't just a block of gray off to the side, but it appears to be a part of the picture to make it a whole. Lastly we have the text. Which is quite large, but acceptable, seeing as there is a great amount of space to use up. The text appears a tad on the blurry side. Nice drop shadow, though.[/COLOR] Keep trying![/FONT]

It is a well-made hoax, an elaborate dead baby joke. The site is in part a parody of the Japanese art of bonsai, but also resembles the mythical practice of comprachicos (in which the subjects are human). The site appears to have fooled a number of people, who fell for the hoax and believed that the website was both advocating and engaging in animal cruelty. Some went as far as to complain to animal welfare organisations about the site and to set up online petitions to have the site banned. Others, while aware that the site is a hoax, believe that the site will induce children and mentally unbalanced adults to attempt to create a bonsai kitten, and thus should still be banned. Due to activists' protests several web hosting services have refused to host Bonsai Kitten or its mirror sites. Bonsai Kitten is currently hosted by rotten.com [1]. The site was investigated by the F.B.I. in February of 2001, and MIT was served with a subpoena, asking for "any and all subscriber information" of the website. Apparently the F.B.I. has quietly dropped the case, as the site is still alive and running [2].
