Okay, I skipped about the first five pages, so forgive me if I bring up something that was already mentioned. Someone said earlier, that God must have created magic, ergo, it must be either good or neutral. First, God created Lucifer. Is Lucifer good? NO. God created angels and humans with free will. He allows us to go against what he wishes b/c He loves us. Second, I'm sorry, but magic (any REAL magic) is demonic, whether you realize it or not. Do any of you know the real story behind "The Exorcist"? A little boy became possessed after playing around w/ a seemingly harmless ouiji board. Magic is really not something to get caught up in. It can become very dangerous. I'm not saying that Wiccans aren't nice people or they have bad intentions. I'm just saying that they're confused about what they're getting into. Ok, you guys can crucify the outspoken Catholic. I'm done now. ~Artemis~

We have awesome Indian Summers in Kansas and the trees here a gorgeous. Our Winters and Summers can get pretty harsh. Spring's okay, but I spend most of it spazzin' for finals and it switches b/t hot and cold too much here.

Anyone interested in purchasing a used heart?
Artemis replied to NightmareMage's topic in General Discussion
Yeah...you'd probably be better off writing poetry about it, but you can PM me if you want. I went through my first break up ever (after a year long relationship) back in January and most of my friends have gone through them in the last 6 months. -
I don't know if it's worth it to get into another one of these heated arguments, but here I go... I'm Pro-life and a practicing Catholic. As far as I'm concerned: abortion and contrception are wrong. NFP (natural family planning) is the way to go. If we're becoming too overcrowded, I trust that our human reason will help us discover ways of making room for everyone. I think population restriction policies can become very dangerous. Think 1984 and "Among the Hidden". It becomes a serious moral and social issue. I really don't think that overpopulation is an issue that will ever been that serious in our lifetime. People over-exagerrate it.
I feel it was very needed. There aren't any true witches nowadays and why? Because of these trials. I don't know why people keep on talking as if it was some kinda catastrophy.
What do you call Wicca? Anyway, I think people got into the mindset that there was something up. They psyched themselves into believing things that weren't true. I don't honestly think any of them were witches. I also believe that jealous and the quest for personal gain were part of the hysteria. They were a very superstitious people. The reason people keep discussing it is b/c it parallels other prejudices: McCarthyism, the Holucaust, etc.

How could I forget Une?!?! That's insane!! I'm so sorry, Karma!! I must have had some odd memory lapse! Yeah, I definitely rank her up there w/ Trowa, Zechs/Milliardo, and Heero. I think Une's pretty darn cool. I mean, talk about a kick-*** chick! She really weirded me out at first, but once she's cured of her split personality thing, she's a very admirable character. Thanks for noting her!:D ~Art~

Anime What is your favorite gundam/character?
Artemis replied to Belldandy Angel's topic in Otaku Central
I'm a big fan of Trowa and Zechs. Trowa's just quiet and professional. He always knows what he's doing....unlike Quatre...He's sweet, but I'd feel like I'm baby-sitting him after awhile. Zechs also has that professional attitude. I really go for that. (example: Brendan Fraiser had no appeal to me until he was in The Mummy. Before that, he was always playing the big idiots who didn't know what they were doing.) Anyway, Zechs is just plain awesome...and once he removes that mask...whew! *pant* -
Yeah, I'm thrilled about this one! I think I'm gonna see at midnight opening day. *giggles* Unlike a lot of people, I liked LotR before the movies, and I don't go back just for Orlando Bloom. Oh, yeah, and Bobba Fett, I gagged when I saw him shield surf down those stairs. That was pathetic. Anyway, I'm lookin' forward to Shelob, The Paths of the Dead, Eowyn's kick-*** heroism, and just about everything else! It's gonna be awesome. I'm a big Aragorn fan (yeah...I completely fell in love w/ him when I was reading the books...yeah I know..."pathetic"...):smooch: so I'm really excited.

I thought the movie was great! Like Arcadia, I just love musicals. My only complaint w/ Chicago is that the costumes were often very skimpy. I'd have to say that "Cell Block Tango" is my fave, but really, all of the songs are good. I would recommend the movie to anyone who doesn't get upset about girls in trashy clothes.

I really didn't like "Stupid Girl" when I first heard it, but it sort of grew on me. I saw Cold in concert with Evanesence at our state fair. I didn't think I'd really like Cold, but they were pretty good. (So was Revis who was also touring w/ them.) I guess I don't really know enough about them to be considered a big fan, but I think they're pretty cool. BTW, do you get "Ares" from Greek mythology or from an anime I don't know about? Just wonderin'! ~Artemis Goddess of the Night~

Letting political opinions affect relationships
Artemis replied to wrist cutter's topic in General Discussion
I never really thought about it. I guess, the abortion issue is so major to me (if you haven't read elsewhere, I'm a conservative Catholic from a family of 10) that I would have a very difficult time going out with a "pro-choice" guy. I believe your opinion on that issue is a bit of a commentary on the kind of person you are. (I don't feel like pro-choice people truly have complete respect for human life. If you get pregnant, it's your own fault (and the father's); you need to take care of it instead of just "getting rid of the problem.") I could date him if he simply believed in it, but not if he actively fought for it. It would put way too much stress on the relationship. I'm far too opinionated, and he would probably get sick of it after awhile. *shrugs* I'm better off w/o him! (whoever "him" is!) :) -
I've found that many people don't really understand the Roman Catholic Church and its teachings and often end up with bad opinions of it since they've been misinformed. :( I have to take an Apologetics class (learning to defend the Faith) next semester, and I like to get some practice and maybe start some interesting discussions. So, here's my challenge: post your questions about the Catholic Church. I'll try to check this as often as possible and answer them. I do request that you don't be rude or offensive about this; I understand that a lot of ppl have bones to pick with the Church, but I can't be held responsible for every bad Catholic out there. (Yes, there are good and bad Catholics, just like there are good and bad Americans and good and bad caucasians, etc.) Let me know what you guys think. And, moderators, if you think this is a bad idea, go ahead and get rid of it. I don't want to cause problems. :)

I have to say, that overall, I liked the movie. The color scheme (lack of any warm tones or even greens) worked well. When I saw it, my friends and I really needed a bad-***, shoot-em-up action flick (one of us recently broke up w/ a long time bf), so the fact that the love story was rather faint helped a lot. Unlike a lot of people, I wasn't really disappointed with Michael. I think that if I were suddenly thrown into an epic war b/t creatures I didn't even know existed, I'd be extremely weirded out as well. :wigout: As far as the vampire rules go, I really feel like the traditional ones should be in place: only daylight and wooden stakes through the heart kill them. Garlic and rosaries ward them off, and they don't have reflections. (Note the classic book "Dracula".) What I kept wondering, was why they never turned into bats!!:cross: I also thought the werewolves looked sort of lizard-like. They didn't seem like they had any hair. That was kinda weird...:drunk: I need to see some other vampire movies so I can really compare it. The only other I can think of that I've seen is "The Forsaken" (if I'm remembering the name properly...) I guess, like Drix, I'd probably give this show about a 7 out of 10.

I noticed that people keep calling Caucasians a majority race. For several years at the grade school I went to, I was a minority in my class. We only had scholarships (to our local parochial high school) for Hispanics. I was just as poor (if not more so) as the Hispanics and I wasn't allowed any scholarship. I have to say, the double standard really bugs me. If someone wants to have a club and they're not going to exclude anyone, let them have it!!

Funny, I've noticed the same thing! I think the popularity of this place grows exponentially. (Ergo, each time someone joins, they introduce 3 or 4 people to it, so the number of newbies will just keep on growing!) I think it's also b/c it takes so long to become a junior member. ~Artemis~

I've never done this before, so you guys may have to help me! Name: Tara Kari Age: 19 Gender: Female Class: Priestess by day, slayer by night... :smooch: Appearance: Gorgeous long, black hair with red and white streaks, bright, emerald green eyes, pale ivory skin, short and slender. During the day, she wears a long white robe and a silver circlet on her head and carries a silver staff (similar to Miroku's). At night, her hair is pulled back into a long braid and she wears the uniform of a black ninja. Bio: Tara was orphaned at the age of 7 when a wolf-demon killed not only her parents but also her older brother Koru who died protecting her moments after their parents' deaths. Since then, she has hated all demons (whether half or full blood) and is distrustful of the deities that "protect" her people b/c they did not protect her family when she prayed to them. She became a priestess at the age of 12 by the urgings of the village chief Ganou who adopted her, but it was never her wish. A strange traveller has introduced her to Western (Greek/Roman) Culture, and she now secretly worships the Greek gods whom she feels are the true ones. Under the influence of her own Japanese version of Artemis, she adopted the role of a slayer. I could use some help coming up with a name for her as her slayer alter ego. I don't know enough Japanese to come up with one! Personality-wise, she tends to be cold and distant. She is distrustful of most people on first contact, but, once her trust has been gained, she is faithful to the end. She is innocent in love having never really been in an relationship; it's not really very important to her (for now at least...:smooch: ). Weapons: Her silver staff and her ninja blade. Skills/magic/special attack: She has the ability to speak to the Greek gods/goddesses and can sometimes adopt their powers (when they let her). She is very skilled with her blade as she has spent years developing her talent, and she also has skills in the martial arts. If anyone has some suggestions for her character, I would appreciate them! I kinda just threw this together and I may decide to change some things later.

Man, I gotta agree with Zero Control here on two issues: IMHO, as I've said before, I really think Zechs is the most complex. (Remember the whole issue of being from the Peacecraft family. It's gotta be difficult to be so set on war when your entire family died for the ideal of total pacifism.) Secondly, Alter~Ego, if I were a moderator, I would have gotten rid of your post myself. It lacks any content whatsoever, and I'm insulted to have it in a thread I started. I wanted this to be a high-quality thread. And apparently I don't speak "gansta" very well, b/c the post didn't make any intelligent sense to me at all. So, note to all: please write decent, intellectual posts if your going to write at all in here! ~Artemis~

 Thanks for the tips, Baron Samedi! I'll be sure to use them! I do appreciate cops and everything they do; I just wasn't too pleased with the one who gave me that warning. Hey, Xyandar, what color is your Cutlass? Mine's this hideous gray-brown. The only good thing about it is the seats. (It feels like sitting on a couch!)
-
"This is an easy one! The most complex is the dude who was scared of clowns in G gundam! I mean, being kidnapped by clowns and them massacreing a circus? How could that not screw someone up?" Huh? Sure, why not, but the question was Gundam Wing. I've never even seen G Gundam, so I have absolutely no clue who you're talking about.

My grandpa owns a car lot and has local commercials, so everyone knows him (and lots know me b/c he's made me be in the commercials :roll eyes:) Um...let's see...my aunt by marriage touched Elvis' hair! I suppose I should look into that some more. I'd certainly like to know. Oh yeah, my great-grandmother was Cinderella. (Ask me sometime, she really had a true life Cinderella story!)

I spent nearly three hours this morning getting my senior pictures taken, and I'm kinda nervous to see how they turned out. I'm not exactly photogenic... :nervous:  I felt really goofy posing in odd, random places all over downtown. Why is it that we need senior pics, anyway? Did anyone ever think that maybe twenty years from now, I'd be very happy not having proof of what I look like right now?!?! Yeah...that's what I thought! *giggles* It's all the 'rents, huh? (Mom: "Now smile for the camera, you're so pretty!" Me thinks: "Yeah, whatever. Don't make me do this!") Oh well, it's over and done with. I'll just get ahold of the proofs and negatives, and there won't be any more evidence...:naughty:

The Goo Goo Dolls are awesome! I'm really mad b/c the had a concert here not too long ago, but I didn't know about it 'til I'd already shelled out $30 for a Weird Al concert and didn't want to pay for 2 within about 3 weeks. (Although the Weird Al concert was awesome!) Anyway, yeah, The Goo Goo Dolls is one of the best bands I've ever listened to. I'm listenin' to "Black Balloon" as I'm writing this. I never did buy any of their CDs, but lovelyEowyn recently lent out Dizzy Up the Girl and Gutterflower to me, so I copied several good songs on to my computer. :D :toothy: :D
Originally posted by GreenEyedDragon I think that was a really really great movie, i saw it last night. My favorite character was Captain Jack Sparrows (Johnny Depp) but he kinda annoyed me when he kept switching sides
I don't think he was really switching sides at all. I think he knew all along that he was going to do whatever possible to help Will. They just make you think he's switching sides. (They're tricksy like that... :demon:) *giggles* I just read the first few posts on this, but someone said that Elizabeth's character was kinda flat. I thought she did very well for this being her first (big) movie. She was only 18 at the time. I liked the way she wasn't just a damsel in distress the whole time. She actually tried to save Will and help Jack. I think that some girls just don't like her b/c she ends up w/ Orlando Bloom. (Get over it, okay?!?! ) Anyway, this is definitely one of my fave movies of all time. The music is awesome. I finally bought the soundtrack. (YAY!) The movie definitely ranks up there w/ LotR and The Princess Bride. :smooch:

I just saw the movie tonight for $2 at our second-run theatre. (one of my friends didn't want to spend much tonight...) I thought it was pretty good. I wasn't sure of the actor's name, but the guy who played Charlie (I'm gonna guess that was Edward Norton) was pretty pathetic. Within the first 3 minutes of seeing his character I was already thinking that. I assumed there would be a love story inter-woven in there somehow. I was very pleased that they didn't push it w/ a sex scene. They sort of imply that they got married at the end. I like that. I noticed the car colors, too. I tried to ignore them. (I kept thinking, "Who's not going to notice three identical odd little cars in bright red, white, and blue?" :roll eyes:) As far as the plan they had goes, I was more impressed w/ the plan in Ocean's Eleven, but both movies have their merits. I have to say, the movie was definitely worth $2.

Yeah, I've gotten a warning before, too. I got on to the highway, (speed limit: 65) and stayed on for about a mile w/ my windows down the whole time. As far as I could tell, I was being particularly careful about my speed (I truly think I never got up to 70.) b/c my 4 year old brother was sitting in the passenger's seat. I had gotten off the highway on to a major street, pulled on to another vaguely busy street and on to a residential before I realized that a black police car was following me w/ his lights on but not his siren. I pulled over scared stiff. (I truly thought that I was going to die the minute I got home and my mother found out.) The officer told me I had been going 79 on the highway!! Yet, he gave me warning and didn't show me the radar. I was too scared to say anything at the time other than, " Wow, I really thought I was only going 65!" I got home and told my mom, and she thought it was a load of ****, and I began to too. With my windows down, I should have been able to tell I was goin' that fast. Plus, my speedometer only goes up to 85. Here's the kicker: I drive a '85 Oldsmobile Cutlass. Those things are not that smooth! There's no way I could have driven at 79 and not realize it. He just wanted to get someone for speeding and clearly got the wrong person. (I think he clocked some else, and just picked out me instead. *grrrr*) This isn't to say I don't respect police officers b/c I do. I think they're definitely underrated in today's society. I just wish the guy hadn't put a warning I didn't deserve on to my record. Oh well.
