The only thing that sort've....shoots down that idea. Is that it seems like during breaks from school there is a bigger drop off then when the 'pups' are still in school. Now of course during midterm and finals that's a different tune. Also common now Knuckles' Girl, I know how those Active duty guys work. 8-4 and home, so give him the kids and come back to us!

Can't help but be reminded of your "Bratz enter the toy museum" rant from a long time ago Chibi. Depending on the circumstances I do feel it may be sometimes necessary for lawmakers and the like to step in. Sure as Rach said, it is allowing parents to 'pass the buck' so to speak. On the flip side, however, if the toy is popular enough you may not be able to keep your child from being fully exposed no matter what you do. Other children's houses, school, or tv, they could be exposed somehow. Though for the most part, and most likely in this case, simple preventive parenting would suffice. Therefore making my ranting case purley unconsequential...

What did you want to be when you grew up?
Drizzt Do'urden replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
I think you and chibi-master should recount how many threads the both of you have started since she joined (just a feeling that it's a pretty darn high number for both of you).
But the rest of us do have jobs that we at least don't mind waking up to do (even if the supervisors do need to visit a proctologist to get their head removed from their butts) At one point I wanted to be a lion trainer. I'd end up playing circus with a friend of mine and held up a hula hoop saying: Jump Through the hoop my lion.
Hey first off easy on the supervisor comments, most of us have worse insurance then those who work for us. So the proctologist is out of the question, plus the company only pays for proceedures it deems "necessary". A lion trainer, just from your posts on here I have a feeling that would still be something you'd pursue if it didn't put to much strain on your family. I actually wanted to be a Hero of some sorts. Normally, like most boys, I'd juggle playing Knight and damsel in distress with the neighbor girl, and playing soldiers with my cousins. So I sort've went that route by enlisting, though the job I took keeps me from the 'frontlines' in any way...sort've. As far as normal jobs, I've finally decided (at 24) that I'm going to take the path of a psychotherapist. The human mind intrigues me, and i think that's one of the reasons I love OB (otakuboards not the medical field). -
There now you've learned something new. Today I had a day off from work so I took my daughter to the Strong Museum. I've also managed to twist my ankle playing DDR in Las Vegas and had to limp back to my room.
I thought 15 hands with my hands would've made for a tall horse. Thank you chibi I feel much more edumacated now. Also, what exactally is the Strong Museum? A museum in a place called strong? Or some sort've weight lifting museum? Genuinely curious, though I'll admit that was a smart alleckie way of asking. Learned the hard way about DDR myself in tech school....so many goats..

Wow, some serious scariness flying at the pinchers here. I actually get a kick out of that tradition, even though I'm great at forgetting to wear green. I would like to know where that came from, seems odd that dear St. Patrick would start pinching those who didn't wear green on his birthday. Seriously, that doesn't sound like him at all.

I had made plans for the backstage thread here, having a hyperlink to everybodies character sheet and the like. Due to some unforseen circumstances that's not going to happen just yet, but I'll get it up before the RP ends. I wanted to go ahead and make this though since I'm the liason between everybody right now, I thought this thread would make it easier to communicate between each other. If you have a question about something going on, or we're moving to fast. Feel free to ask here, or comment if you'd like. Just to recap the current situation as of right now.... Dunan, Karyn, and Draco are inside the townhall which has explosives that are detonating. They're at this point trying to fight their way out (remember vampires aren't easy foes no matter how low on the toem pole they are.) Calil and Sile are in the town schoolhouse. Sile just used her powers to create a portal and teleport the children to safety, though there's a problem with one (whatever could it be?) And Dean and Dawner are in the church battling familiars and a vampire. Saturday's post is coming fast. Make sure you've finished up in your prospective buildings by then, otherwise I'm going to move everybody along to the next "checkpoint" however I can (maybe limbless, who knows I'm crazy like that).

Manga Naruto Manga [Warning: Spoilers]
Drizzt Do'urden replied to Ryo the Tactician's topic in Otaku Central
OH, GAWD, NOOO!!! It's the end of the world! Even Ace can't rescue this chapter?!:animecry:
I don't normally post here since I, until recentally, only watched the anime. I've never really been into manga of any sorts, though I've checked out a few editions. Now thanks to the raving about the most recent chapter I've decided to recap and catch myself up. And it seems to me that its in a downward spiral. I think it may be time to start thinking of a way to get out of the current situation and move on to something....out of the ordinary. Now when I say I recapped I zoomed through....abbreviated versions of everything leading up to here so I could've missed something. But so far naruto's only managed 6 of the 9 tails. So the series has a way to go, but needs to go in a different direction. And that's my advice that doesn't matter and that nobody will like (those who are avid fans at least). -
I guess I'm just not fully understanding. So for each round the "contestants" will write three 200+ yarns based on topics of their choosing? If so I'm in, though I think you should refine a little. That's awfully tough to do in it's own right. Not so much to come up with three topics, more so that its going to be tougher on the first person. Whoever goes second in each round will have the advantage of seeing which direction the first goes. Then they can choose to either take the same topic or make compeltly different ones. I would almost have to say the best way to do this would be (and this would be diffcult to do based on the posting capabilities of the contestants) to have them post alternately. I post one, then my competitor, and so on till we've posted three times each. Or, thanks to the double posting rule, A goes then B, then B then A, then A then B agin. That way it offsets a bit.

Is it sad that I've found enjoyment in all of the movies mentioned so far? I'm pretty good about picking one aspect of a movie that I like and sticking with it. The Friday the 13th remake, Jared Padeleki (butchered the spelling) stars in one of my favorite television series' so there was reason for it. And there are countless other movies I like for reasons even more trivial then that, so it takes a lot for me just not to like a movie. As far as the stupidest movies I've ever seen are probably mostly movies nobody has ever heard of since they're IFC movies. But I didn't care for Anchorman and I'm a big Will Ferral (I just suck at peoples last names) fan, so for me not to like it was a BIG deal.

What's a Ninga? That sort've boosted my vote for Pirates. Plus we have/have had a few RP's right Vampires, but not as much with Pirates.
There's also the fact that this one horse where I ride I can not dismount him bareback without falling on my butt. I don't know why because he's not a tall horse, only about fifteen hands.
How does that work? I have large hands so would it be 12-13 for me? Smart remarks aside I have a horser story when I was younger. My cousin had a black horse (not sure what kind) that we'd all take turns riding. Well when it came mine, somehow somebody loosened (I'm sure not on purpose) the saddle up. So I'm riding along, my uncle walking the horse when the saddle starts slipping. I abandon ship halfway down and end up faceplanting.... Needless to say that was my last horse riding experience, not so much because I'd be afraid to ride. But they sold the horse a year or so later and I'm to unintereseted to find another to ride.

Ty always wondered what it would look like if all hell had literally broken loose, he assumed a little like the scene in front of him. Ty had Vanguard drawn, as well as using the sawed off. It was a little cumbersom, but so far very effective. He hadn't seen Rasic since the big half daemon charged into the mix, but he assumed he was fine....he hoped. For some reason, Ty couldn't quite figure out, he was being ignored for the most part. An acolyte would charge here or there, only to be cut down quickly. Only once, maybe twice, he'd resorted to the sawed off when a group would charge, but for now he was reserved to take the acolytes on as they came. Waiting for some sign that Rasic, or any of the other hunters here were okay, or until he finished cutting his path to the place where Rasic entered. Either way, he was thankfull for the daemons and acolytes hatred for Half-Daemons. It kept him out of the crosshairs, for now.
So this thread reminded me. Usually when an email goes out, people do come in to check out the updates.
So...an easy fix to the decreased membership would be an email every.....day or so? "If you send it...they will come!" Edit: For some reason I can't errase that, so whoever added the omnipotent message..NOT COOL!

Dean pulled Dawner inside, at the alter of the church the scene was unfolding like something straight out of a twisted fairy tale. Just as the "heros" arrive the villians kill the captives off....and this is just as it was. Standing at the twisted altar was 5 men, Dean could tell one was a vampire but couldn't tell which. As they duo finished the two familiars quickly, the others noted the carnage and decided the feast wasn't worth dying over. Just as Dean turned the corner blood was flowing from the alter as throats were slit. Dean saw the last to die, a child was bitten by the man that was apparently the vampire. Pulling Dawner into a doorway Dean was sure his face was as white as it seemed. "The redhead is a vampire Dawner, I'm pretty certain the others are familiars. But be careful." Dean errupted from the closet, a new rage he hadn't felt in ages. He launched a throwing knife as he drew his katana. The deadly blade landed him and a familiar went down, it wasn't a killing blow but it was enough. Dean then cut to the right, and having battled together before, in training missions at least, Dawner cut the oppisite way into the other rows of pews. Just before they got into battle Dawner called to Dean through their mindlink. "Dean, Dunan and them set off the bomb. Apparently the leader around here is Malachai." That was all Dean needed to here. "Dawner, send a message to everyone here. If they see a vampire with an upside down cross tatood on his face to RUN!" Dean lost focus and was tackled by one of the familiars. His vampire strength still coursing through his veins he easily threw the familiar off of him, slicing him in half as he rose. He noted the vampire smiling at the top of the stairs. Seeing the redheaded vampire in full view it was easy to recognize him, it was the nest of vampires that turned Dean all those years ago. Which meant that Malachai wasn't the biggest threat afterall.

hmm, well this chapter sort've threw me for a loop. I sort've took to the Catcher as a character who would have BEEN the con artist, don't ask me why but I did. Hmm...help from a con artist? I like it! Somehow you keep taking the expected and shaking it up, and its definitely keeping me interested. Good show.

I'm surprised nobody has posted yet to "rate" the game, so I guess I'll be the first to do the deed. I'm sort've split right in the middle on the game. At first the combat seemed horrendous, as it seemed choppy and whenever I'd knock a bug into the air (did anybody else get a Starship troopers vibe?) I'd begin attacking and not go airborne. After getting through the kinks of that, it seems that this is a pretty solid game. Since it's been forever since I've played the older games, didn't the other SO games let you use certain skills without using up MP? I seem to remember there being a distinct difference, but what the hey thanks to the bonus board it makes it almost impossible to lose MP. The storyline is much better then I expected, and the laugh out loud fact that the main character was named Edge Maverick (compensating for much?). It sort've made me think about when homer changed his name to Max Power (yes a simpsons reference). Well for the first 2 hours of gameplay I would've given this a 6/10, but after working through the kinks and getting involved in the storylife a 8.5/10 seems sufficient.
-
Well that maybe true but....well that's all I got. I'll probably do what I always do....forget to wear green. Become inconsolably angry over getting pinched, then top it off with pub hopping in Columbus. Then if I'm lucky, I'll make it back to my hotel room. If I'm unlucky I'll wake up in a stranger's car.....again. (Not in the good way like waking up in the backseat....not alone. In the way that you wake up in a 70,000 corvette by yourself.)

RPG Konoha Chronicles - The Torn Earth [M - V, L]
Drizzt Do'urden replied to Adas's topic in Theater
Okaru's eyes snapped open at first light to the smell of eggs. Why that surprised him he didn't know, but it did for some reason. Perhaps it was the prospect of the eggs being such a comfort food, the clash with the possible meaning of today seemed almost...evil in its own way. Arriving downstairs to his mother's smiling face meant only that his father had been out. Okaru wasn't the only victim of his father's obsession with the 'glorious Okiori clan'. When Okaru proved to be a dissapoint meant, many of times his father wailed on his mother. Those times of course when Okaru's body had been beaten to close to the thin line between life and death. Okaru sat down, only dismayed to find three plates. "Father's joining us?" He grimly observed as he sat and began eating. "Yes, but don't wait on him. He just wants to say good-bye before your mission." Okaru nearly spat out a mouthful of eggs. How did they know of the mission? He had not wanted anybody in his clan to find out. For his father would most likely ridicule him, saying that he was probably about to face a bunch of teenage bandits, no real danger, and therefore not a real mission. Okaru stood in respect as his father entered, dressed in his leisure robes. Apparently not planning on training today. "When were you going to tell me of your mission son? I heard it comes down from lady tsunade herself." In the Okiori clan you were taught only to speak when spoken too, and even then to only answer questions when speaking to a "superior", which meant Okaru's father. "Yes sir, investigating bandits. ryokotsu-sensei will be traveling with us." His father lite his pipe and smiled. "If they're sending somebody with Ryokotsu's skill, it must be a legitimat mission. Perform well and you will gain favor in the ladies eye. Favor that would bring much to our clan, report to me when you succeed." Okaru wanted to throw back at his father and say, "and what if we fail father? what if we end up facing shinobi far too powerful for us? What if they kill me? Am I allowed to report back here if I fail?" But alas, those words would have earned him a beating and a goodbye. He should just saver the moment, treat this as a 'good' moment. Okaru excused himself and made his way to the meating point with Ryokotsu. On the way he saw Hotaru approaching, and wondered if she was praised by her clan as he wasn't in his? Wondered if she receieved the recognition she desereved for her skills? He found himself staring at her when she looked up. He decided to wait for her to join him on their last walk as cat rescuing gennin. -
I've noticed that the boards seem to be like taking a hit to the Corotid (to lazy for spell check). It comes in spurts, then it'll stop almost dead. Then your sutchers (once again lazy) tear and your spurting again. Since you have faithful medical providers(senior members, mods, admins) it never dies. Hope that metaphor was sufficient to say I have no idea why, and i just wanted to be part of the conversation.

OOC: Hope you don't mind I'm not waiting on Tetra, though let her slide on this one Scream. She just got over being sick and probably didn't want you to think she just bailed. Ty clicked the phone shut and sat up in his seat. "Whoa you sure you're okay? That was some beating you took." Rasic's voice broke into Deans panic. "That wasn't half as bad as the beating I'm taking with your Driving. That was Night, we aren't the only ones to get hit. It's everywhere, 7 down so far. Cal and his group and taking a beating at the construction site." Rasic slamed on the gas forcing Ty all the way into the back seat again. As the duo pulled up, gunshots filled the night. Tracing them Ty saw Cal, Kurai, and a huge daemon that was rising to his feet. All around them the construction zone was filling with Acolytes racing to defend the summoned daemon. "What the hell do we do?" Rasic was in a panic. There were at least 20 Acolytes heading in Cal's direction. Luckily though they hadn't spoted the car yet. "Give me the keys, I have just the cure." Ty grabed the keys and opened the trunk. Seconds later he returned with a sawed up double barrel and a .45 revolver. "Can't kill a daemon with them, but I'll be damned if I've ever seen an Acolyte get back up from one of these babie. He handed Rasic the revolver, and loaded up the shotgun. "Not many rounds, I didn't expect to need them. We can at least cut a path to the others with them though." Ty got out, Rasic in tow. Sprinting towards the ocean of acolytes seperating them from their allies.

OOC: Not trying to discourage anybody from posting, but let's try not to get to far ahead of the other teams. The church was a looming old wooden church, apparently this town had forgone the decor of today's modern, gothic architecture, and elected for a more simple style. More like a log cabin then a church, the only distinguishing marker was the crucifix perched on the roof, over the door. "Hey Dean?" Dawner spoke as the two eyeballed the church from the shadowy rubble of a house across the street. "I thought vampires had to stay away from holy ground?" Dean looked up, a slight smile across his face. "Actually, that's a myth started by vampires several centuries ago. It was used to force small towns like these into the churches for easy harvesting. I thought an arcane expert like you would know that." Dean gave Dawner a playful punch and took off to the side of the church. Dean watched as Dawner carefully made his way through the darkened street. He'd always liked Dawner, the boys passion for helping the people who couldn't possibly understand what was going on around them. It always reminded him of the reason he and Sile choose to start the team years ago, and how they used it to make so many powerful allies. Most notably to him, Calil. He took to her beacuse like him, she didn't ask to be given her "gifts" as some would call it. "I'll have you know that I am an expert, but I can only learn what I'm taught." Dawner huffed when he reached Dean's spot. Suddenly Dawner's face grew pale. "Dean, we need to be careful. The town hall was rigged with explosives, Dunan's going to.... Then an explosion echoed throughout the small town in the direction of the town hall. That's the moment that all hell broke loose. The doors to the church flew open, and Dean and Dawner watched as a flock of humans flooded the streets. "I hate familiars" Dean growled as he drew his Katana from the sheeth on his back.

OOC: Sorry to hear you were sick Tetra, I know around where I live there's a nasty flu bug flying around. "I've Aveza, and I heard there were other warriors who had...visions." The girl introduced herself, still amazed by the girl Mori. "It's a pleasure to meet you Aveza, I'm Keith. Mori and I also experienced visions. Then we were sent East from Pandora in search of....well I guess I'm not totally sure what we're supposed to be searching for." "Well you two are more then welcome to join me. Supposedly there are more out there. I was told to head towards the setting sun." "Uh...isn't that where we came from Keith?" Mori plugged in "Yes, we were told to head east...err towards the raising sun." The trio looked at each other befuddled, it seemd that they were in a bit of a perdicament. Which way to go now? "I say we head South." Mori chirped in, an odd confidence in her voice. "Why do you think South?" Keith asked skeptically "I like South, it's like you're goind downhill." The young girl spoke. "This may be a long trip" Keith thought to himself. "South it is then, Aveza will you be joining us?" The girl looked as Dumbfounded as Keith felt. "Umm...I guess South is good." The trio set off South, hopefully towards others like them.

Dean motioned for everyone to follow him, he hadn't spoken a word since leaving Sile's room. He'd spent his time watching, trying to see how the team reacted to Dunan. So far everything had been going well, but once they learned of the mission they may end up singing a different tune. Dean listened why Dunan commented on the artwork and decor, speaking of some of the artists of which me'd met centuries before. "Where the hell are we going Dean?" Sile finally broke his concentration; still without a word Dean turned into a room that none of them even knew existed, because it had only been created the night before. Inside was a massive table, built to seat everybody on the team in a half circle, one chair at the oppisite end today to be used by Dean for the briefing. "Wow....this is nicer then our dinner table. This would be an AWESOME place for a pancake eating contest!" Karyn's voice boomed over the awe struck team. Dean stifled a laugh and took a seat, the others followed suit. "So what's up Dean? This isn't how we normally handle things." Calil chirpped up, apparently Dean's continued silence was starting to worry people, but he was trying his damndest to hide just how scared he was. "Today was supposed to be our final training mission. THEN I was going to reveal this new room that Gregory and some of our other residents have been working on for sometime now. Unfortunetly they had to rush it, and finished it last night." "Better keep it locked, otherwise Dawner and Karyn will have this place torn up before we get to make REAL use of it." Draco chimed in, drawing a laugh from everyone...well everyone except Dawner and Karyn. "Seriously though, cut to it Dean." Sile cut everyone else off who was adding to Draco's insult. Dean could've killed her at that moment... "Come in Gregory, it's time to tell them." The door opened and a white haired, frail looking old man entered carrying a bundle that looked far to heavy for him to be holding. "I would've told you about the vamp. But since he came in the front door I figured you'd have it covered." He said glancing at Dunan. "Yeah about that, we're going to need you to adjust the spells to admit him in here without being invited." The old man nodded at Dean's request. He then unbuttoned the package he was carrying and spread the contents on the table. Turned and left the room in the same way he came in. Dean allowed for everyone to see the stakes covered in blood in front of him. As he expected Dunan cringed away at the sight, it was unavoidable, and Dean couldn't help feel bad in a way. "Dead man's blood. The only surefire way to take care of the vampires we're about to face." Dean said, covereing them up for Dunan's sake. "The has obviously changed. Some intelligence has come down that in the city of Fairbreeze, about 20 kilometers south of here, has been completly overun by a nest of vampires and their familiars. Our boys say that out of the 500 citizens, 400 have been killed already. The others are being kept alive for future feedings." "So what's with the bloody stakes? I thought that Beheading them was the only way to kill them?" Draco asked, a bit of disgust in his voice. "Dead mans blood is a potent poison. It won't kill them, but it will paralyze them for hours at an end." Dawner answered. "Exactally, so take 20 minutes and pack your things. Our carriage is outfront." ------------------------------------------------- The trek to the town was uneventful, though uppon arrival the group could feel an omnious presence. The streets were completly deserted, and fires were still burning in places where houses once stood. The only recognizable features the town possessed was a church, schoolhouse, and the town hall. Any, or all, of which could've been home to the vampires that were running the show. ------------------------------------------------- "Okay guys, we're going to split up. Remember there are an unknown amount of vampires, but I'm guessing its small due to the size of this operation. They're most likely a group of elders, and if so they will pack a punch. What's worse is the familiars are supposedly great in number too, so don't trust anybody." Dean removed a handfull of tailsmans from his bag, each one a pentagram sitting atop an ankh, and began dispursing them between the team members. "These tailsmans will allow Dawners powers to be fully utilized. They will allow you to speak with him, and him to all of you. So when we split up, I'll still be in contact with all of you." Dean hated to split up, but with three giant buildings he couldn't risk anybody being hung out to dry. "Dawner and me will take the church, Sile and Calil the School, and Karyn, Dunan, and Draco the town hall. Nobody engage anything until they're sure what it is, remember most vampires will seem purley human until they want to be. Report anything you see to Dawner, and if you get in trouble get out of there. Oh and Dunan, Dawner will be keeping tabs. If you even seem like you're acting strange Karyn and Draco will cut you down before you can blink." "One last thing, stay out of the streets as much as you can. That's the last place we want to get in a fire fight." OOC: Sorry for the lengthy post, I wanted to keep us moving and sort've move us along, but got carried away. As most of you know I'm going to start doing similar posts like these every Saturday to keep us all on track. And btw great posts starting out, I had meant to send a pm out to everybody saying that but works been sort've hectic.

I just rented F.E.A.R.2 yesterday and played it last night before coming into work. It REALLY has some aspects that give you the chills, The way Alma pops in and out, and is always that sort've shadowy figure is freaky. The way the little creeps grab soldiers and rip them to shreds....oh yes cool and sort've freaky. For anyone who plays it, make sure you adjust the brightness to the bare minimum if you want the jumpy, what/where's it going to come from feeling.

Dearn and Calil turned at once towards the sound of the commotion coming from the main foryer. "Damn, not already." Dean sprinted from the room towards the entrance, Calil's voice fading "Already what?" but Dean was already there. Dean pushed past Dawner, grabed the man and yanked him inside. Pinning him to the wall, Dean was right in his face. "What do you want blood sucker?" Dean could not recall a moment when he was angrier. The man tried pushing free, but to no avail. "Do you honestly think I wasn't prepared for you? You'll see that I've already had my breakfast for the day. That and the spells cast on this house keep you full-bloods powerless, which you would've already known...." Dean's voice trailed off as he lowered the vampire to the floor. The nest that was to be the first test of the team had tried breaking into the mansion back when it was just him, Sile, and a few of the support persons. They knew of the spells on the house, this one wandered in unaware. "Spells huh? Must be high level stuff you have here. You're right, I don't work with any vampires around here. I've come looking for you for other reasons. My name's Dunan, and I'm here to join you." Dean felt foolish, though he wasn't sure why. Was it really so hard to believe that another vampire would choose the path he did? In fact it wasn't so long ago that he himself was one of them, a full-blood. And now look at what they had, a team full of the things many hunters wanted to kill. Just maybe this guy would be of some help. "Dawner, Draco escort our friend to the living area. I'll go grab Sile and we'll discus this. If he tries anything though, remember take the head off." "The head off? Sort've impersonal isn't it?" Dunan smiled as he followed the human and the werewolf towards the living area. Things were interesting enough around here, and it looked like a new ally may have been made. Dean shook his head as he walked up the stairs, it was now he wished even more that the mission hadn't been changed. At least with the spirits there was room for error, and trust with the new guy could be made. Now they had to go kill a bunch of vampires with a vampire....oh boy. OOC: Feel free to get acquainted with each other, once Nessaja posts we'll get moving with the revelation of the mission and the mission itself. (Nice first posts everybody)
