July 12. I myself am looking forward to this...just because it's FMA. :-p
I wouldn't buy it just because it's FMA ~_~ The first one was horribly disappointing. I probably won't buy the second one unless I can rent it or try out a demo or something first. ( I work at EB and pre-ordered the first one... I was totally excited about it cause I totally heart the FMA series and after it ended I wanted more so I figured I'd play the game~ but then I got ahold of a demo while I was at work. I played it for like.... 2 minutes, stopped, walked over and took my money off it and put it on something else... it was just that bad). I hear the second game is supposed to be a lot better, but I haven't played it or anything (thought about importing it, but I went and bought something else instead). Has anyone here played the Japanese version? Care to give a review? Then again, I mostly just hate it because of the English voice over ^^; and, even if the 2nd game is alright, I probably won't buy it for that reason. The English dub makes my ears bleed *flails* It would be great if they allowed you to choose English or Japanese voice for it. There are just a few other games coming out the month before or month after that seem better and I'll probably buy those instead.
I haven't seen episode 7 yet... I'll probably get to it sometime tomorrow. I'm kind of wavering on this show now; it significantly slowed down after the first two episodes, and the art seems to have taken a dive as well. The issue isn't the animation--it's just that the character designs often look quite cheap. I guess the lack of detail kind of contributes to that, but in many scenes it comes across as being a low-budget production when chances are that it really isn't. Anyway, I hope future arcs are more interesting/suspenseful than the first one. I saw the resolution of episode 6 coming from miles away. ~Dagger~
Wow, I'm glad to know it isn't just me XD; I thought maybe I was the only one who thought it seemed kind of cheap looking. The anime seems horribly boring and plain next to the manga... which I guess is understandable, but still... It's really sad T_T cause I was all excited about it at first. Here's hoping it gets better as it goes on.

I can't remember what mine was XD;; but I think it was either Ghost in the Shell or Mai the Psychic Girl? That was way back when manga was like almost $20 normally, instead of $9 T_T And, randomly, the first raw Japanese manga I bought was either MPD Psycho or Slayers ^^; I have so much manga now ^^; My bookshelf can't hold it all *shot dead*

*squees* How cute XD Firstly, since you are new, welcome to the Otaku board XD I love both the pic and the icons ^_^ You have a very cute style~ Plus the design of the outfit in the original sketch is super cool~ I also totally heart the way you colored the Naruto stuff~ I'd love to see more art from you ^____^ Crit-- Sketch- Proportions are a bit off in places, but not horribly so. The arm not holding the book seems a tiny bit short from the elbow down...but it may only seem that way since you can't clearly see where his elbow is because of the little sleeve thingits? His foot also seems a bit flat T_T but that could probably be easily fixed by redrawing the belt so it follows the shape of the shoe better (as it's currently mostly just straight across) And, randomly... when holding a book, you may see 4 of his fingers instead of only 3... but I'm not totally 100% sure since I don't have a book to try it out on XD; so perhaps one can hold a book like that no problem? But he's got the cutest hair and facial expression! *loves* Completely random and you may have no idea what I'm talking about, but he totally reminds me of the Dollheart BJD clothing for the Vambane School (and I'm not sure I spelled that right) series they are doing...so cute! Naruto icons- I don't even like Naruto and these are horribly cute XD So you'll forgive me if I make any errors in making suggestions about improvement since I don't know anything about it ^^; Garra's (I think that's who it is ^^; ) eyes seem odd because there is no outline (while the rest of them have an outline around their eyes). Being just solid green, it seems really oddto me. Naruto's face seems a tiny bit off... but I think it's because his eyes look like they are too far up. If they were a bit lower, it would look great ^_^ No idea who the last one is XD;; *shot dead* but he looks great ^_^ I can't see any problems. Hope that helped XD;;;

Squee, Toby, how cute XD I feel horrible cause there are a crap load of frogs living in my yard and I don't know anything about them! T_T Since keeping him in a jar didn't work, maybe something a bit shallow with water inside? Something like those things you cook meatloaf or brownies in? (though I'm seconding the idea someone already mentioned of putting rocks or twigs or some such in there with him so he has a place to manifest) You couldn't keep him in the house in it XD;;; but it might help him outside? I'd wait to release him in a pond though T_T As you don't know if he's been eating or is able to eat. If you are really worried about Toby, you could always attempt calling a vet and asking about him? (or her XD;;;; I don't know how to tell the gender of a frog either *laughs*) Vet visits may be expensive though T_T but there's no harm in calling and asking? There may be other places that could have info to... like a pet store or other place that sells fish and such (there's one near me where the people are really nice and know all sorts of things...plus they own a freaking gator O_o; so they must know their stuff XD;; ) I don't know if someplace like the humane society could help? Maybe the zoo? XD;;; *dies*
That was some pretty neat stuff GTK ^~ Here's another of my latest and greatest. I had to do some tree climbing to get to this one. ((Image cut out cause it was huge and posting it again seemed silly XD;;; ))
*^-^* I like this photo lots~ It's very pretty ^_^ and just the one red leaf really makes it pop~

Manga the problem with Shonen Jump's translation of Naruto
GTK replied to Sailor Ganymede's topic in Otaku Central
Pretty much anything Shounen Jump that gets translated into English is sorta off in my opinion... but most Japanese words have multiple meanings anyway, so there's room for various interpretations. I don't read/like Naruto, but Desert Graveyard and Sand Funeral are simular enough that I wouldn't complain too much about it... the imploding part is a bit odd though... Sort of how they translated shinigami in Bleach to soul reaper (correct me if I'm wrong? I've only glanced through a translated copy). The meaning is pretty close, when you keep in mind that the "American" (for lack of a better word) version of a God of Death/Shinigami would probably be the Grim Reaper. (I still would've preferred Shinigami T_T) But it's prolly easier for someone who doesn't know any Japanese to relate to Soul Reaper than it is to relate to Shinigami (plus I guess it relates back to Soul Society, or something like that). In my opinion, it also seems like Shounen Jump in the US is trying to market towards younger readers. I'm sure someone who is, oh say, ten or twelve may not be able to prounounce a lot of complicated Japanese. I refuse to buy any US released Shounen Jump stuff anyway ~_~ Squee for the Japanese version. Haha XD; this seems almost OT, but there you have it. At least I kept talking about translation? -
Try Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles. There's also an anime, but it is still only Japanese. In an attempt to explain it without giving too much away (spoiler tags used just in case),
Tsubasa involves some of the characters from Card Captor Sakura, but it's about ten times cooler. Basic plot is Sakura is the princess of her world and, after an accident, looses her memories before she can confess to Syaoran that she loves him. Syaoran must then travel to other worlds in search of Sakura's memories or she'll die.

I have no idea how much they cost, or how large the pads come, but I do know that they are available in different sizes and such.
On average, a tablet will cost you around $100. Sometimes a bit less, sometimes a bit more... I love mine T_T I paid $100 for it (it's a bit bigger... I know they sell smaller ones for the same price) Using a tablet takes a while to get used to, but it's basically like using a pencil... depending on the program you're drawing in and/or the tablet, they are usually pressure sensative as well. Wacom is usually the brand you hear mentioned a lot... Mine is by Aiptek (which is alright... I've had it for maybe 3 or 4 years and it's starting to act up a bit, but it's also a bit old, so...) I haven't used a Wacom tablet, so I can't say much about that ^^ I think it's easier to draw/color with a mouse that doesn't have a ball...a fiber optic one? Not sure on terms... A ball mouse tends to stick a bit more and get dirty and generall cause problems. Hope that helps ^__^

The first few/the attached ones are just of plants and such... the rest of my photos involved flowers, but I was really taking photos of Sylvie ^^; (the doll)

I went to the Dear Friends concert up in Chicago that was earlier this year ^_^ (I had VIP tickets XD Got to meet Uematsu...Squee!) Hearing the music live was so cool T_T Definately worth paying to see... I'd love to go again~ I heard they are doing a tour with the Black Mages as well? That should be great as well ^__^ I'd like to see that one~ Did the girl you meet actually cosplay to the concert? O_O I think cosplay doesn't belong at an event like that ~_~ I mean, you would cosplay to any other symphany concert. It's just weird (though there were cosplayers a the one I went to also... O_o Final Fantasy cosplay, I could understand... but, wtf, there was an Edward Elric?)

Not sure the term Bishoujo can really be applied to her without getting an *** kicking, but my fave female character is Integra Hellsing. She's so cool~ Squee for tough chicks. Please she just looks super stylish. but if they should be the pretty type XD; Then Dokuro-chan from "Club 'em to Death" Angel Dokuro-chan. She's so adorable XD She's all cute when she beats people to a bloody mess ^^; you just can't top that *laughs* And I'm a sucker for cute girls with pigtails *dies* (I attached an image of her...since I'm not sure anyone will know what I'm talking about XD) Fave Bishounen is Kiriyama from Battle Royale...scary and pretty (though I don't like the slicked back hair so much T_T are his original fuufuu hair) I like him, but I hate him.
I mean, he's killing almost everyone T_T Volume 12 of the manga, where he killed Sugimura and Kayoko, was particularly brutal *angst* I also really liked his character in the novel... you feel kinda sorry for him T_T since he was born the way he was...not sure if they'll explain why he is the way he is the manga though
I guess I just like to hate him XD I also really like Fai from Tsubaba... it'd be nice to learn more about him though ^^; as, currently, like no info on his past has been revealed. But he's cute and I love the way her interacts with Kurogane and Mokona *heart*
Well, by definition it is anime, because anime is a Japanese word reffering to anything that is animated. How Americans reffer to it is what most people think of with anime. I think of anime as what most do from Japan, but i didn't question this, because technically it is.
~_~ the term anime is used in the US for the sake of referring to JAPANESE animation. Zim is an American cartoon, not "anime". It is, however, being put on DVD by Anime Works and is filed under anime at Target...not sure about other places. It's not Japanese (though if you wanna get technical, I believe some Korean people worked on it. Is there a Korean term for animation?) Seriously though, who cares. It's still an American show. Calling it anime seems weird. Anyway~ I totally heart Zim. I got to meet the guy who does the voice of Gir and he's super nice. I like Gir a lot, just like most people XD; Though all the characters are really great. Gaz is prolly my second fave character (squee for the game slave 2 episode~) The show probably got canned because it really wasn't Nickelodeon (sp? ) material... it's insanely different from everything else they show. I never bothered watching the extras though, so I don't know anything about them talking about bringing the show back. It would be nice to see more episodes, but I doubt Nick would bring it back (though could prolly get someone else to fund it though). Invader Zim is such a fun, random show to quote XD "Why is his head so big?"
I don't know if it's possible to do this, but I thought I'd ask anyway. The attached image of Edward Elric is really cool. It's also really hard to find one of him clapping his hands together (he's the main character, and the best at alchemy and there's no pictures of him clapping his hands?!?!?).
Do you have the DVD? You could just screepcap a simular scene of him at a better quality? I doubt you'll be able to get that image to look much nicer (unless you shrink it...that might help... but you already mentioned it can't be smaller)

Anime Best Anime Girl Tournament R1 M8: Akane(Ranma) vs. Kanzaki(GTO)
GTK replied to Bloodseeker's topic in Otaku Central
Kanzaki in the middle XD; She's a bit cuter here ^^; and less evil looking anyway XD;;;; http://www.spacecoyote.com/art/fanart/php/urumi.php and a link to some cute fanart of her (still evil though ^^; eek) -
Anime Best Anime Girl Tournament R1 M8: Akane(Ranma) vs. Kanzaki(GTO)
GTK replied to Bloodseeker's topic in Otaku Central
Squee for Urumi Kanzaki. She's way cooler than Akane. Akane is such a boring character when put up against someone like Urumi. -
^^ Yeah, that's exactly what I was looking for! Thank you so much! Wow, I guess I have a lot to work on! :animeswea But I thank you for all of that. :animestun It made my head spin a bit, but that's alright. But uh... yeah, you can tell I. can't. draw. backgrounds. :animeswea So, I'll try some of your suggestions... *~picture~* And is that page more what you had in mind? (if it doesn't come up, just refresh it...)
That's a lot better ^_^ And I totally think the board ate my first reply to this T_T *coughs* Anyway... Backgrounds are hard to draw XD; Like I said, try drawing random rooms when you go places. It helps. Let me know if I can do anything else to help you out ^_^

Not sure what kind of feedback you are looking for, but I think your website hates me cause it was crazy and opening widows all over the place for a while O_o I recommend you -don't- hand write the text. The text seems like it's squished into the text bubbles and doesn't look very neat (there are also a few spelling errors... typing up all your text into word and adding it in later with Photoshop or something would help that problem). As for your art, looking into studying anatomy might help you out TONS. Your main problem seems to be the face in profile. The eye shouldn't be right up against the side of the face... it needs to be back further. And I know anime characters have huge eyes, but maybe you are drawing the eyes a bit too big as well ^^; Characters could also use fluffier hair, as their heads seem a bit flat... (and I guess I'll randomly mention that the distance between two eyes roughly equals one eye... the bottom of your ear starts at the bottom of your nose, the top around the edge of your eyes... in some of your images, the ear is either up too high, or too low...and is usually too small ^^ The way you are drawing reminds me of chibi or super deformed characters... is this what you were going for? If not, their heads are too big ^^; (but I was sorta guessing everyone was chibi or something since they all had big heads and no hands Also keep proportion in mind (like a person's elbow is usually around where the top of their hips starts.... some of your arms are too long, some too short). Random stuff like that. Also, as a manga (though I didn't read it) it seems awfully boring because a lot of it seems to be nearly identical images repeated. Practicing different poses from different angles might help a lot. Some of your backgrounds seem a bit odd as well... I can't ever tell where people are supposed to be O_o; and everything seems very flat... for practice, try drawing rooms in your house or at school. (And, randomly, on page 15 or so... those glasses look really flat ^^; practice drawing circles and ellipses. Liquid isn't flat across either... it would be an ellipse, like the top of the glass. Liquid is also generally see through, so you should see the bottom of the glass as well). And your shading is a bit messy... if you want it to look nicer, try blending it or at least shading everything in the same direction (it looks odd when if half the panel all the strokes are going across, but the other half they are all vertical). Wow, I wrote a lot T_T I hope that as the sort of feedback you were looking for ^^; if I can do anything else to help you out, let me know. If you need me to illustrate anything I mentioned, let me know and I'll try and poop out some kind of tutorial.

Since someone mentioned hands being hard to draw, drawing your own hands helps a lot (just for art classes, I've drawn my hands more times than I can count T_T but it really helps a lot) To help with proportions and clothes and such, start out by drawing the figure "nude" and then draw the clothes over them afterwards. That way the clothes don't end up looking too flat (but make sure they don't get too puffy either XD;; ) I also keep TONS of magazine cutouts (of real people, not anime characters) to use as reference for poses and to see how folds in clothing look when a person is doing certain things. Drawing from a live model helps tons ^_^ Sometimes I get friends to pose for me XD (as an example... for this image (click XD), I asked my brother's girlfriend to be a model for me. I took a TON of photos. In the end, I ended up using one photo for the pose and for one of her hands, but used a different photo for the other hand.)
Hi there! So, I'm doing this manga called tomodachi - maybe you've seen me posting my chapter titles on the fanart section of theOtaku. Anyway, I'm kinda wondering if anyone ANYONE could tell me how to improve on the art. My storyline? I've already got that done, so I don't really need suggestions (although, if you wanna comment, go ahead.) I'm not going to post a specific picture because every page tends to show different levels, but I will post my Manga's Website. :catgirl: This is it - Tomodachi Oh, and one more thing... I suggest you make your judgements based on chapter four, my most recent. The first chapter and a half won't tell you (or me) much about my situation here.... :animeswea
Maybe it's just me, but the website comes up totally blank O_O
I've lived in england all my life and we hardly get any anime or manga over here!!! Does anyone know of any conventions i can go to? the last one sed i had to be over 16 *cries* Does anyone else come from england on here? :animestun
You might wanna remember to make your subjects more specific to what you are looking for in the future (like mentioning that you are looking for anime cons it whatever area) ^^ I'm not from England XD;; But I did a search on anime conventions and this is what I came up with http://www.ayacon.org.uk/ http://www.minamicon.org.uk/ http://www.redbrick.dcu.ie/%7Eams/eirtakon/ I found most of them on this site http://www.ryouko.demon.co.uk/ukcons.htm Hope that helps ^^;

Squee for Ninjai. The little bird gets to me T_T so cute~ My fave so far is prolly episode 12 (I think?)
Bouncing between all the gore and violence and Ninjai and the little bird is pretty crazy.
So totally not sure if this is what you wanted, but I liked the image so much I had to do something with it ^^
