1. Hmm. I do not think I would really want to be anyone, honestly. Tori or Jenna maybe, just to try some things out- hehe. See what it is like as them. Tony just because he is Tony. Jealous? Hm. I wish I had the wisdom of a few people here, but it is not really a matter of jealousy. Nope, no jealous feelings twards anyone. For now, heh.
2. Name: Ensis Veneficus Age: 23 Gender: Male Race: Frae-Ren Location: Fenwyr, Ii?Kaer Occupation: [Wise?] Shaman/Healer/Herbal Doctor. Appearance: Ensis is an abnormally tall [6'9 or so] and somewhat muscular fellow, with tanned skin and long, black, unwieldily hair that stops just above his shoulder. He appears quite healthy and agile- clearly a fit man who could hold his own quite well. His eyes are a light gray- whats odder than the color is the mystical glow that resides within them. It mainly becomes noticeable when it is dark. Ensis mainly wears an outfit that consists of a dark green sleeveless shirt and black pants that are somewhat baggier than normal [for comfort]. He carries a long staff that holds within a deep channeling power for natural and white magics- but, it isn't that bad as a walking staff or melee weapon either. When on the go in dangerous territory, he also equips himself with a small satchel that he swings across his shoulders, carrying various healing herbs- just in case. Rumor states that amongst the normal healing herbs in his travel satchel reside some more offensive materials- ask Ensis and he will just smile. Personality: He is inquisitive, tactical, intellectual- but retains a cheerful, witty attitude on a more personal level. He avoids drowning people in unneccesary knowledge unless they geniunely want to know- if he didn't, he be highly annoying. Ensis adores parties, large or small, and participates in every celebration he can. He has alot to teach- and maybe some more to learn. Content with life, he has no reason to be overtly negetive- and hopefully he will stay that way. No one likes grumpy Healers. History: The Venefiscus family is a line of Frae-Ren that have focused on their innate connect with Earth and Nature to aid all who need it. There have been several famous Venefiscus' family members, and in general they are well respected- not only for their trade, but for their hearty, varied personalities. There are a good number of them strone about the whole world- occupations all varied forms of the generic 'healer'. Ensis was born in Shaar, son to a famous Healer named Kenneth- a pure herbal doctor, and an extraordinarily good one at that. From a young age Kenneth taught young Ensis all he could about the varying flora that graced Laeth E?Thae, from the mysterious to the rare and powerful. Ensis decided that he would focus mainly on the craft of herbal medicine, following in his fathers footsteps- however, he took a keen interest in his mother's magical ability. Her roots were strongly based in diviniation, healing magic and a strong sense of closeness with nature. She noted the ambitious curiousity of her son and that the potentional was there for him to master both parents' respective arts. So, both of the parents taught the young son their occupations. In the end, however, this cancelled all chances for the young man to learn anything remotely offensive magically- his mind filled with the encyclopedic knowledge of herbs, magic, mixtures and all sorts of things. This affects him negetively as his only offense is potions and his staff. So, it was that the young Ensis grew up under the careful eyes of his parents, his training continueing well into his late teens. When all was said and done, the parents had outstandingly succeeded in his upbringing- he could equally heal with concoxitions and just as easily do so with magic. It bears mentioning that all young Venefiscus' leave as soon as they are 21- in the spirit of nature, adventure, and the family tradition. And so it was Ensis left, his mother giving him his staff as a parting gift. Over a year he migrated slowly southeast, intill finally arriving at Fenwyr. The flora in the area was curious- mysterious, wonderous. The people were welcomeing, knew how to have a good time and were in need of a healer to settle there. The atmosphere was perfect for Ensis- and he settled down. For the past year he has lived there, frequently travelling around the region to study nature and collect the plantlife he needs to aid his friends. However content he is with life, Ensis has an undying yearning to just travel the world- to see all there is to see. In recent weeks he has considered packing up his belongings and just leaving for a few years, or indefinately. Tidbits: Ensis enjoys playing God with his potions at times, mixing magic with his mixtures. This can turn out either fantastically good or violently horrid- several large explosions in his house have given him serious injuries. Good thing his house is on the outskirts of town. Maybe someday he will get it down perfectly.. but for now it remains a more hit and miss situation. --- I hope this is alright, I just thought a lively shaman would be interesting.
3.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel I'd say that Tormented is quite a bit heavier than Dysfunction, but I don't know if that was being included when they were mentioned originally.
I have not been able to find Tormented around here, so I could not comment on it. I assumed that it would be heavier, but you never know- heh.
4. Staind was only metal on Dysfunction in my opinon. After that they kept bleeding into hard rock and other genres, but, like you said, they are still pretty good.
5.
Originally posted by Cyke I still don't get that. How come acting calm in any situation is a sign of maturity? People who don't care about their lives and want to die would act calm under any situation, like being under a falling chunk of debris or inside a burning house. Are those people mature? o_O
Maybe not to that degree. I think that if you can remain calm when it is in reason- in the midst of family difficulties, or arguements with close friends. But there is a difference between lack of emotion and maturity, heh. If you are trapped under a chunk of debries in a burning house, you might want to remain somewhat clear of mind so you can think- but still remember that there is an urgent situation that could go critical around you in a moment. So there is certain ranges that you have to stay in to remain being "mature", which makes it all the more debateable.
6. It is not our fault that the KKK parades it around, lol. We do not ask them to- do we? The KKK is in its cycle of rebirth anyway. But those in the south will use it because they want to- honestly, most people around here could care less what anyone from other states in the south or in the north would think of the things they want to represent with pride, lol.
7.
Originally posted by amibasuki the swastika and Confederate flag comparison is a stretch, I agree. like I said, I wasn't trying to make them seem equal in harshness by any means, lol. just naming examples of how something that started off with a good meaning can end up with a bad one. the swastika was just a magnified version of it 0_o'.
Yea I guess so. Plus, that was somewhat recent.. I would guess walking around in Europe with that on SHOULD piss some people off, heh.
8. No, it is not correct in my eyes. The reasons for which why both symbols have become 'evil' are radical, one is clearly more defined and "horrible" than the other. You have to take it as a whole- the swastika became a nightmare for people, sometimes literally. Just takeing the core symbols without looking at how they transformed through events in history seems wrong. I am not really pro+confederate south, but that is still a stretch. Surely there are other symbols you could compare it to. Something more reasonable than the swastika. Your example with 'gay', however, was good. I am not trying to attack you personally, or anything- sorry if I come off as such. =)
9. Poor Texas. lol. It had barely been in existance, but had already been through one war and was suddenly sent into another one. From what I have read, Texas was predominantly Confederate- and sent alot of its populace to the front line. Yet, with that said, I have honestly never seen anyone donning a Confederate flag in any form, ever. Plus, there are a few others things in Texas history that we can brag about if we wanted to [unfortunately some people do]. I see the Confederate flag as a symbol of someone takeing up a cause. If people want to cry "evil racist symbol" consistantly, then they can- if it was a real southerner wearing the confederate flag, then he would care less how people ract. With that said, there are many other things southern states could be proud of that are more modern- maybe to lessen the 'argh, evil' controversy about this- but, of course, I let them do as they wish.
Originally posted by amibasuki as an example, you wouldn't go over to Europe (or anywhere else, for that matter) and wear a swastika patch on your coat, would you?
lol. Please, spare me. That is a whole different thing. The Nazi's killed jews, gypsys, Jehovah's Witnesses. They started a World War that killed millions in civilians and military personnel. Trying to compare the Confederate symbol to the Nazi symbol is hailarious.
10. I think that a good sign of emotional maturity is when you begin to form opinons on a grander [what people might consider 'adult', ironically enough] scale. Things like religion, maybe polotics- or how you feel about things in the world, things that are being fiercely debated. Even those are bad examples- just things that make you more of who you are, that make you more than just a young person- it makes you a young adult. Maybe I am off on that- or there is a good chance I just cannot form what I am trying to say into the proper words, heh. I am just over a month into being 15 years old. I consider myself to be mature for my age. As a child, I was withdrawn alot. I enjoyed things that I now realize were mature for my age- nothing melodramatically major, but smaller things that pointed to how I would be in the future. The really big leap occured when I was 11 and a half, honestly- I fell in love then for the first time, was in a relationship for the first time. My eyes seemed to suddenly open wider, and I realized just how big the world was- heh. Further events since that altered my personality drastically, coupled with rememberance of my childhood, and forged how I am today. I enjoy being a bit more mature than I 'should be'. It is a fun expierence to baffle people older than you, heh.
11. Clairvoyance and Precognition. The line between the two is either not there, or they overlap it into each other a bit. The things I could achieve with those two abilities are truely outstanding. Other than that I cannot think of anything practical that I would need. Psychokinesis and the ability to call on a familiar would be somewhat entertaining- maybe even practical at times. I wonder what sort of Familiar I would have.
12. I have no idea why, but I seem to be afraid of the prospect of being in the middle of the deep ocean. In the zone where it begins to turn into a deep dark blue, where whales and such dwell. That scares the crap out of me that something- a something that is faster than me in the water, more atuned to being the water- will decide to drop in and say hello. I know that the water pressure would more than likely kill me at that prospective depth, but most fears make no sense anyway.
13. You know, another good band is Cradle of Filth. ;P I suggest the song "The Promise of Fever" or "An Enemy Led the Tempest".
14. Mastodon can be classified as Heavy Metal- the real genre, not the broad term for the general sound. They are still reletively unknown outside of people who have taste for metal, so retain that great freshness aspect. Vocals are a constant, heavy scream from word to word- not an annoying scream however, a more emotional one. You can feel the energy comeing off of it- it is choice. Their musical sound ranges from slow, whimsical guitar ballads to heavy, extreme earbusters. If I could reccomend a song to you I would reccomend 'Mother Puncher' and 'Elephant Man'. Pig Destroyer is a bit darker and louder than Mastodon. Their lyrics are awesome, however, somewhat fragmented with hidden meanings sometimes. Vocals are the same, generic screaming- not as emotional or 'heartfelt' as Mastodon's sometime, but I do not expect much in this genre. Their guitars remain brutal- almost always, honestly. Pissed off? This band is great. The drummer also does a very fine job as well, meshing the sound together for a package I can only reccomend. A good song is "Piss Angel", another called "Hyperviolet". Sevendust is popular, I know. "They are also mainly hard rock, Ken." That is a halftruth. The older the album, the harder the sound. Their debut self-titled album is a very good all-around metal album, with vocals that are not laden with screams of death and pain- ... in general, that is. Home also has a few good metal songs, but of course- the more present you get, the more soft tracks there seem to be. Not neccesarily bad, but more of a warning to those that live under rocks. Deftones- Whatever people say, I enjoy the Deftones sound. They have varying genres in their songs, but the metal ones are the best. You must have heard their sound, so I will not bore you to death with details. I reccomend songs like "Change (In The House of Flies)" or "Bloody Cape". "Battle-Axe". I could give you more if you want.
15. At the least, expierenceing this would be quite an amusing and dream fulfilling event. It stems from a sorrow-filled melodramatic story, but basically I have always dreamed about this in my own mind. I would more than likely, scarily enough, be about the same [unfortunately? ^_-]. There would be a few quirks- I can only imagine. Maybe a bit nicer, less arrogant- or more careing to those I trust, but retaining the arrogance. Maybe less fanatical about basketball, more fanatical about anime or games. The games part might sound odd, but my biological mother was a fanatical gamer- and, actually, still is. I would care more about my appearance for sure. Little things like that. I get along with both genders and many different people as a guy, so as a girl my friends would be the same I would judge. With the added charisma from not being as much of an *ss I might be more popular, lol. The problem with that is that more than likely as a female I might have had more.. problems.. with my stepfather. I can imagine some scenarios that might have caused critical problems mentally down the line. But it would be lovely if you could just peer through a window to see how you could be in so many infinate ways. Maybe in some other dimension, there is a female James or a male Tori. Hahaha. That would be a fun thing to see. >=D [Kenna will live, yet.]
16. I have not the faintest idea as to what accent I have. People just comment that I talk "different". Another, smaller few, say that it is definately a slight southern accent. I do know, however, that I do that skipping of the e's thing. My name, to me, is 'Kin'. Basically that is how everyone around here talks, even without a profound accent. Several people here have talked to me on the phone. Let them comment, because I truely cannot hear any sort of accent at all.
17. First off, Dragons forever. *raises fist* === I enjoy Doppelgangers. Although if I ever saw mine I would more than likely grin and pee my pants. It is such an interesting myth, one I tell frequently to my friends [all whom are not that much into myths, but ironically love a good story from Ken.] I have been fascinated by fairies since I played the role of Oberon in a Midsummer Nights Dream a while back. So I enjoy reading of them, too. Now that I look back on it the role of Oberon ironically fits me. o_O; Or I might have made a good Puck. If we shadows have offended, Think but this, and all is mended: That you have but slumbered here, While these visions did appear.
18.
Originally posted by Lady Macaiodh Ironically, this has all brought me closer to Jesus than ever.
Congradulations. I'll be getting you a Hallmark card just for the occasion. However you wish to cope with it, you may. Just remember that it makes you, somehow, a stronger person whenever you come out merely scarred. That's all I really have to say.
19.
Originally posted by Die Krähe I dislike the french because they dislike us
Beg your pardon? Tell me, do you follow that logical path with every such scenario of someone dislikeing something/someone you like? Or perhaps something that's personal to you? I'd hope not. The French as a whole do not hate America as James stated. The difference of opinon does not, or ever should, give either nation [or anyone] the right to arrogance or bigotry- excuses do not take away from the foolishness of that. Racism is silly, sort of like feminists.
20. No. You listen to SoAD and expect GOTHS of all social groups to tolerate that. They are goths for a reason, lol. There is nothing wrong with listening to music you like, but you have to remember whatever opinon you hold- even if its likeing a band- can make you dislikeable to some people. It doesnt matter if it's a stupid thing like that or not, thats just how silly the whole thing is.
21.
Originally posted by maladjusted I'm a poser since System of a Down isn't the 'real stuff'.
They are right. In the catagory of Nu Metal even there is better stuff than SoAD. If you want to get more hardcore then stray into the underground, lol. SoAD isn't the 'real stuff' for the genre their sound puts them in. *puts on some Mastodon* There we go. ---- I can't think of a stereotype that i'd match 100 percent. Take "angsty teen" and marinate it in "goth without the makeup". Add a dash of "intellectual", "cynic" and "pessimist" to your pleasure. Bake at 360 degrees for an hour. Maybe someone here could help me out on this. The best person to stereotype you are your peers- I think.
22. I'd prolly wish for the company of one of the OB ladies. What a happy eve.
23. Heh. Australia helped in greater ways in WW2 than that. The estimated casualties on an assult upon the Japanese islands was set at 550,000 thousand. This did not include any Japanese casulties or damages to the infastructure. The problem with that being that, in general, the estimations were much lower than the actuality. It could have been much worse, really. If the Japanese hadn't of surrendered after the first 2 attacks, then there were plans in the works for up to 7 more [note: UP TO] to be dropped- intill they decided the war wasnt worth it anymore. One big reason they dropped the bombs when they did was the Soviet Union's eyes- they were upon the Japanese assets in China, Manchuria and the homeland- if they didnt end the war, the million man red army would. More than likely that would have lead to another Communist leadership or another occurance of what had happened in Berlin when the Red Army 'mingled' with the female populace. So alot of factors were added in.. the best decison in their mind was made. I cant really say what would have happened if they decided to not do it. Thankfully, thats the only time its been dropped in a war.. maybe it will stay that way, at least a bit longer.
24. A few people have outlandishly long signatures- rediculous, really. I'd hate to see limits come back again, but it seems those people cant see the idiocy in a page long signature with pure crap in it. Ugh.
25. Silvanus: Is this irony? Or.. He had avoided the group that was hunting throughout the jungle with someease. Sitting, he had been watching the players near the waterfall- and the news that was read. Glanceing down to the players, his eyes glanced back into the forest to the small headquarters. Parting the foliage, he opened the door and grabbed a small parchment. Using his finger, he wrote a small message with the aid of his energies about the news and the postponement of the meeting intill further notice. The note firmly placed on the door, Silvanus sat on the edge of the waterfall quietly, drifting into his thoughts- completely ignoreing the party below him, whos discussions had distracted them from him- for now. He brought up the news file about the slaughter of the band of theifs, which had apparently been witnessed by some form of person. The articles the players wrote, detailing journeys they had, were beautifully written- and this detailed story of the lone mage standing up to greedy theives was made even better by the fact it was the first time he had been in something other than game news in a few months. Silently, he read the news for himself as well- just to confirm that he was on the list. Silvanus: Clever. His eyes drifted to the party, eyebrow raised. The first outsiders in months to get this far- surely they deserved some form of praise. But he had a double agenda- he wanted to know who they were on the list of players they had chosen. Silvanus: And perhaps size them up- assess the threat level.. yes. I best hurry, they might not like me just spying on them.
