Yea well if you listen to music with vocals you probably have a favorite vocalist. So here is the place where you tell us about them! This is not however a place to bash other peoples favorite vocalist. You can express your opinion obviously but there is no bad mouthing. I encourage you to update us on who your favorite vocalists are whenever they have changed. Also don't forget to tell us why. Oh and feel free to discuss Lyrics written by them as well as that also goes into being a good vocalist. having a good voice is useless if you have nothing to say after all. Anyway here are a few favorites of mine. Maynard James Keenan of Tool ,Puscifer ,Children of the Anachronistic Dynasty ,Shandi's Addiction ,A Perfect Circle, and Tapeworm He has a a very flexible and beautiful voice. He can make a crude sounding angry sound or a beautiful vigorous sound. His voice almost always meshes with whatever band or sound that plays with him. He is my definite favorite number one vocalist. Layne Staley of Alice In Chains In his lifetime his voice has added that special edge to many great songs. Man in the box, Got Me wrong ect...He is also very flexible. He can do a tender voice unlike anyone I have ever heard but he also can have a thick abrasive sound which I also like a lot. Chris Cornell of Soundgarden,Temple of the Dog, and Audioslave Chris is just plain great .It seems as if people just can't get enough of his voice. He has an amazing soft sounding voice and an an epic angry almost violent voice. Also no matter what you can still hear some sort of melody in his voice.

Ok so I have a lot of time on my hands so I am gonna go ahead and break down my favorite anime by type. There will be some changes from my initial post. First up is Long *** Shounen Ranma 1/2 This anime from the start was fun and action packed. It also had a weird concept that strangely worked for it. All of the characters even though at some points were annoying were fun to get to know. It kinda got tedious near the end but that didn't really bother me because I was so engrossed by the world itself. Yu Yu Hakasho It played in the same time slot with all the other shounen so I consider it shounen even if it is sorta kinda mystery like at points. Anyway the action in this anime was great. It took what DBZ did and made it better in my opinion. I would put RRK here instead of this but I have only read the manga for that and not very much of the manga. Shoujo Kare Kano I like this because it first starts out as strait romance(which was done brilliantly) then it turns into a sort of romantic slice of life. Also every character is wonderful. Every single one. Even the girls goddamn dog is charming. The whole story...every single subplot is interesting engrossing and enlightening. This show actually taught me something about people. Han Yori Dango This is a very VERY close second. This anime managed work work with flawed characters and MAKE you like them even if they did despicable things. And every new arc was surprising. You really never new what to expect. Overall the only thing that takes away from it is the animation. But if you can get past that this series is amazing. This taught me something about love. Super happy kawaii fun!(a.k.a crazy comedy) Azu Manga Diaoh/Cromartie High School Yea this is a dead tie. I like them both so equally that I can't pick one. Azu Manga had an absolutely charming cast. And their wacky antics always had me laughing. Even though that is true the ending managed to be surprisingly touching. Cromartie High School was freakin crazy...no other way to put it. Old school rock stars Monkeys outta no where Robots...nuts. This is the only anime I have ever seen where I laughed straight through it...basically no breaks. Holy **** from outer space!(a.k.a Funny Sci Fi) Dead Leaves Ok the story...was really weird and nonesensical. But the crazy **** everyone did made up for it completely. It's like cromartie on crack... The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Well of course there are the amazing characters. Then there is the crazy *** concept. Then there is the great humor. The greatest thing about it in my opinion is the subtlety of some of their jokes. Harem Ai Yori Aoishi Well first of all unlike most harems it wasn't completely "Look at mah boobz dey is big and in yuh face!!!." It is slice of life mixed with romance with lots of caring character development thrown in. Then there is the fact that every character gets some aspect of themselves shows. Just a great show. Happy Lesson Random+Sexy+Awesome Teacher mom characters=Win Mechanical girl Saber Marionette J First there is the incredibly engrossing world . Then there is the fact that almost every episode brings forth an important aspect of a person/machine's character. Oh and the ending of the first season and second season were both incredibly touching I cried after each. Mahoromatic/Chobits Again a tie. Mohoromatic has great action great characters and a REALLY good story. It has epic plot twists and all the elements of a good anime. Buuut Chobits had better characters and was more slice of life which I prefer. GTO It is in it's own type. It had so many elements that blended so well I can't just say oh it was this or that. This whole anime was incredible. Just...perfect. Last but not least Awesome Philosophical stuff Kino's Journey Every aspect of this anime is perfect. Every mini arc is isnightful, entertaining and beautiful. Kino and Hermes are both great characters(Hermes is HILARIOUS). This is in my opinion a modern classic. Haibanei Renmei Yea there is nothing I can say about this that hasn't been said before. It's unique beautiful and enlightening. honorable mention Digimon Esaflowne Excel Saga Kurogane Communication Love hina Hand Maid May A Wind Named Amnesia Bah that's not all of it but it's all I feel like doing now...
i hate astro boy, it may be classic or whatever and i don't know if it really is official anime, but it is so gay, i can't focus because it's so lame!
...I can't ****ing believe you said that...how can you...Wow ok I am gonna go ahead and assume you haven't been watching anime for a very short period of time and know nothing about it's creation. (Yaoi=Gay) (Yuri=Gay) (Astro Boy=/=Gay)

David Bowie+Maynard James Keenan(and some other guy)-Bring me the Disco King(Underworld Edition) ...Oh my God this song is ****ing crazy. How the **** did they do that? Serioulsy what the...I need to listen to this again.
-
Do wooden swords/Playing cards count? Because that's really all I have besides my Goku action figure.
-
Junk volume 2 More Nudity Less action More plot Me likes :animesigh

So I finished the Matrix comic. Pretty damn spiffy. My favorite story was Goliath. Great little story there. I also read a snazzy snippet of Shaman Warrior volume 5. Some of it was confusing but most of it was awesome and touching.

I listened to that coheed Song. It was pretty meh for me. It ain't even close to Welcome Home. Anyway I rediscovered Mayhem. I used to listen to them but then stopped for some reason. Deahtcrush makes me ready to break ****...like no joke it makes me wanna break ****. So yea lot's of really strong anger there.
Those guys are pretty cool. They got really old after a while though. The music is really bland for their genre (which is basically post-hardcore, I wouldn't go too much deeper with that) and the vocalist just kind of rhythmically shouts. You might like Transistor Transistor. It's the same thing but heavier and better. Also, a band I'm friends with put up some new recordings of old songs and they sound really good. They sound a little like a mix of Chiodos and Between the Buried and Me. If you're into the stuff, you should check them out: Fastest Kid in 5th Grade
OH ****! Fastest Kid in 5th Grade is bad ***. I don't know much about hardcore or punk or anything that much and I usually have to wade through a bunch of stinkers to find a winner....but when I find a winner I REALLY like them. Oh and I will mess with Transistor Transistor a tad thanks for the rec. Oh yea I am listening to Fastest Kid in 5th grade.
-
Oh yea I almost forgot that Dying Fetus sucks. Yea since I said I didn't like them a while back I did in fact give them another chance. I still hate the vocals. Not because they are death metal vocals but because the vocals are terrible vocals. Not only does it sound completely stupid but it meshes very poorly with their mediocre instrumentals....(especially the guitar...yuck). Cannibal Corpse is a thousand times better than them and they are mediocre too.

AThese Arms Are Snakes medley. I like these guys a lot. I can't really put my finger on what genre they are.
Actually, the older Mudvayne is a tiny bit heavier and comes with more screaming. But it's not that notciable, and it's just the songs that make the later ones suck.
What do you mean by the songs? The Lyrics? The Lyrics are basically the same...at least they seem that way.
Oh, good job editing your post so I look like a tool, Panache.
It would end up causing problems and I was wrong anyway so I edited it out. Just delete your post...
That's funny considereing that the thread being linked is mine too
Which is why that is funny, ironic, and fail.
Hanna Montana - I don't want to even talk about it. she is very talented, but annoying as all hell.
Can you really consider that music?
Mudvayne (Later albums
They sound the same basically every album...
M. Shadows looks like a rip-off of Maynard James Keenan
No not even a little. Maynard is a flamboyant sometimes feminine multi hairstyle/color ugly mother ****er. M.Shadows is generic looking white guy with tattoos and sleeveless shirt. When M.Shadows strips to his underpants goes bald and then paints half of himself blue and the other half white then we'll talk.
Vicarious by Tool, this song makes me want to kill soemthing and watch it be tortured. Not a person, an animal. When Maynard says "You all need it too, don't lie," I get the feeling that I need to open a can of Hulk on soemone.
I kinda thought the song was suppose to have the opposite effect. It sorta makes me feel disgusted with us as a species.
@ Panache: Bottom is a good one - I've actaully gotten tired f the ong from playing it too damn much, but I can't help but listen to it when it comes on - it gets you in the '**** the world' attitude where you look around, see everything you hate, and just start screaming. Another one I like to sing loud.
I almost got in trouble on my bus once for screaming "**** ADDS UP ON THE BOTTOM!" The only song I sing out loud besides that one is Rosetta Stoned("**** my bead again!" My Friends who only listen to go-go(I mentioned it in premonitions thread...it is garbage) think I am crazy. Speaking of Rosetta Stoned that song makes me feel really desperate when he says, "You believe me don't you? Please believe what I just said." He says it with such desperation in his voice that I feel it. It's kinda haunting.
Depeche Mode have some songs that provoke some sort of emotion in me, mostly Enjoy the Silence and Blasphemous Rumours. The Acoustic remix for Blasphemous Rumours makes me real sad and the lyrics, though simple like every other song they seem to do, make me smile ironically even though I'm sad.
All of the Depeche mode songs provoke emotion for me. Enjoy the Silence most of all. Their songs make me feel the same way Undertow by Tool makes me feel but Depeche puts me in the mood even more. Very gloomy.
-
Wings of Marie part 2-Tool This song if I listen to the whole thing brings me to tears every time. I am not really sad or anything but God damn the song is full of passion. I dunno what exact emotion I feel when I listen to it....but it is damn strong. Bottom-Tool This song makes me feel angry. Not a violent angry....more of a "Man I ****** hate this ****" angry. Calling Doctor Love-Shandis Addiction This song makes me feel smug and happy. When MJK says "I got the cure your thinkin of" I always laugh. What's goin on-(covered) by A Perfect Circle This song always makes me feel happy and sorta empathetic. It also makes me wanna be nice to everyone even if they are being dicks. Last but not least Cassie Eats Cockroaches-Acid Bath This song makes me wanna break ****...

Lol Ober0n you mentioned more than a few of my favorite bands. At least we agree that go-go sucks.
Panache. I have no idea who you were talking about.
It's some local fanfare that started in DC. I would link you to the wiki article but a certain someone has made me completely distrust wiki's analysis of music as a whole. So here is my explanation. They take a crappy rock beat. They take a Crappy rap hook. They combine that. Then they play the drums like a 5 year old kid with poor motor skills. Oh and that guy is always high. Then there is another guy. He sits there and yells **** **** and the N word a whole lot. Then people dance and have sex to that. Basically it is the end of western civilization as we know it. If you see it run far away from it. Trash Here is a link to some of the garbage. If I have to explain it any more than this I am gonna bang my head against the wall.

Yea I don't see this going anywhere good. But what the hell. I think my least favorite group is CCB/TOB/TCB/BYB/Any go-go band period. A high black guy beating the hell out of a drum while his high friend yells is not music. Period.
-
Aww that sucks. Even if your douchebaggery was aimed at me sometimes you made the amphitheater a whole helluva lot more interesting.
-
So I am a sellout. I was listening to Paramore this morning. emergency and Misery business were my poisons of choice. The lead signer just has an uber voice. reminds me of flyleafs lead singer. I kinda did have an ulterior motive though...this hawt chick in my math class likes them. I wanted a common interest there. But that's besides the point. Anyway to make up for it with myself I listened to Porcupine Tree's Hatesong. Man Porcupine Tree is such a flexible unique band. They can play a crude heavy song one moment then a slow beautiful one the next.

Anime The anime here in america...is it getting childish?
Panache replied to Humaru's topic in Otaku Central
Not really lol. Unless they have something I'm not aware of? (I don't really consider Tenjho Tenge and Ergo Proxy good. Another conversation for another day lol.)
Well Ergo Proxy is good from what I've seen. So is petite Cosette. But I didn't mean good. I meant non childish... -

Watch Fuse. It has some good anime on it. -
The very mediocre Marvin. He lives in his moms basement does crystal meth and plays World of Warcraft all day. Also on weekends he invites whores over and has a mediocre time with them. He would put a hole in his head but he is to stoned to find the gun. And he needs to level up his warlock some more.
So instead of watching NGE or Blood+, I found Devil May Cry. I've got to say, it's pretty good. Dante is well characterized in his brooding, 'you-have-no-idea-what-you're-getting-yourself-into' personality. It is only the first episode, so we'll see if it fares well. And my prediction is, it'll probably be the best damn thing I've watched in a long time.
The Novels and Games are all good. And the main character is perfect for an anime. There is no way it can fail!
