Anime What Classic Books wouldn't you mind seeing an Anime version of?
Panache replied to onenuttytanuki's topic in Otaku Central
I just started reading H.P. Lovecraft's Dreams of Terror and Death. Man...that would be an anime full of win. I think it would be great in the guys who created the animatrix dealt with the storyline itself and transitioning it to anime form. Then of course Madhouse would have to animate it...because madhouse is ****ing awesome. @Ace you know adults that watch those shows on a regular basis(you watch those shows on a regular basis?)? I guess those must be really deep profound mature shows with hidden meanings throughout and great revelations weaved throughout the fart jokes. -
All I know is when I have kids, they are NOT growing up on stuff I can't stomach watching with them.
Err then I guess your kids are gonna have to play outside...a lot. Most of the kid's shows now are ****ing mind numbing for adults...and hell it was the same 10 years ago.(spongebob anyone?) I know this because my mom watched a whole episode of DBZ with me once and told me I a have terrible tastes in shows...but y'know I was like 8 so I didn't give a ****. All I knew is energy blasts=awesome. -
A Mix of Pantera's Cowboys from Hell,Walk ,Throes of Rejection,The Sleep and Beethovens 7th,9th, and 6th. Uhh my head is gonna fall off.
I'm afraid I'm going to have to stab you to death with a spatula over the above utterance. That's not to say that other dubbing companies can't pull stuff off just fine, It's just that they strip away what makes the shows popular, put horrible pun-filled dialogue in and hire voice can't-actors like Jason Griffith and still expect to make money.
That's subjective. I think if I were a seven year old most of the stuff they do work on would suit me just fine. I mean if your a pretentious 7 year old...goddammit you should be listening to classical music and reading novels by now not being overly critical of cartoons. -
Things don't usually translate very well from East to West, think 4Kids . . .
I disagree with that. 4kids translates kids shows from other countries just fine into kids shows fit for the U.S. Oh and think of all the things that have come from the east. Asian Food as a whole translates great into western culture. Asian Horror movies(mostly of Japanese decent) translate pretty well. Then of course there is dubbed anime...which is the best thing since sliced bread in my opinion. I certainly wouldn't watch it if it wasn't dubbed into my language. Then of course there are various clothing lines from Japan that became hugely popular here(Bape and Evisu for example). My final example is Asian martial art flicks...they have become a part of western culture and new American made genres even emerged from it. -
Last night I saw Perfect Blue for the first time with my Millennium Actress-loving friend. We both liked it well enough, but she managed to call the final plot twist within the first five minutes of the film. I thought the fake-out where they make you think for a second that
that the character Mima is playing in the TV drama is her real self--that the TV drama is the real story, and the frame story is in her head
was a whole lot more interesting and less predictable. The best scene was
the photographer's murder.
~Dagger~
That's I show I didn't enjoy that much to watch but I enjoy reflecting upon it. A friend of mine on another board described the show like this. Oh shii! Whew it was just a dream Oh shii! Whew it was just a dream Oh shii! Whew it was just a dream Oh shii!

No problem! Dystopia-Sleep Hmm this band is good. Their vocals aren't the best but the rhythm of their guitar and the bass is sexy

Tool-Every Album from Tool Every Tool album is different but awesome.
-
Pantera-A Vulgar Display of Power This album makes me want to do three things 1.Yell **** 2. Break **** 3.Go Apeshit Crazy This is one of those albums that is pure unmistakable metal.
-
Pantera-Cowboy From Hell: By far the best Pantera record.
I preferred vulgar display of power but that's only because I really really really really like walk...don't care how popular it is. That song makes me pissed every time. But primal concrete sledge is a no ****ing joke..
Slayer-Reign In Blood Slayer at their best, by far. Though, Christ Illusion ain't bad.
I prefer south of heaven to this because that albums sounds darker to me...but they are both ****ing great albums. (I have listened to Angel of Death about 100 times by itself...)
Well, I guess I'd go ahead and make a kickbutt English version, instead of making a kickbutt Japanese version.. Let's be honest, I could go ahead and make a Japanese version that kicked butt, but all of those later turn into Dubs for kids. So, yeah, Just to make things easier and avoid what's inevitable (because ofcourse America would want my excellent ideas, lol) I'd go for dub. But, a dub NOT for kids.
Dubbing really has nothing to do with the target audience. If you make a kids show it's gonna be dubbed in a kid friendly way. And a Bad *** kid's show would be 10xtimes as bad *** as a bad *** regular show.
-
If were awesome like JRR Tolkien I'd make up a language for my character cast and have subtitles in English.
YES! That would be bad ***. That would totally be worth any extra cash I had to pay. I would rather do that.
-
If I had my own anime the original voice cast would be English. It would be dubbed into Japanese. I mean I speak English so it would be stupid of me to try and translate my thoughts into another language just for the sake of making it more acceptable for another culture especially one that will probably not give me as much profit as my home country. It would be a waste of time and resources.

Acid Bath-When the kite string pops This is my favorite 90's metal band after Electric Wizard. The blue is my favorite song and my favorite line is "I have fallen in love with the sky." The way Dax sings it is amazing.
but it is only has 24 eps.
Only? Thats a full season... Megatokyo volume 2 (first few pages) It took a few minutes to get used to the new style. But now the series is just as good as it was before. Junk volume 4 (complete) Can't wait till volume 5

So yea today was fail. Just now I gave up on looking up electronica and now I am listening to We Versus the Shark. Pretty much just because Face put up a link... They aren't half bad.
Common and Kayne West are among my top two favorite of the pop-rap type stuff... Quite nice. :] I don't know what to make of Kayne's new album... I like alot of it, some parts I don't, Common never did me wrong however.
Isn't Pop Rap Redundant? I thought Rap was like..pop hip hop. I thought that was the definition. Anyway I like some of Kanye's Stuff and other stuff I don't. I prefer Mos Def to him by far. He takes some of the clever wordplay of Talib Kweli and some of the Aggression of Eminem and then spins it in his own little way. But Eminem is my favorite rapper shortly followed by Common and Mos Def. So it irks me if people say negative stuff about them...especially if it isn't true.(That was a general proclamation since you actually weren't talking about Eminem)
-
As far as rap goes, I listen to the kick-A rap... not some of the poser crap.
Eminem isn't poser rap...wtf? Just because his records sell he's instantly a poser? Unless you were just talking about 50 cent then sure he sucks ***. Common-Be Soulful beautiful poetry from an amazing thinker.
-
Eminem/DMX/Obie Trice Go to sleep ***** Man this is some mean ****.
-
Also, I have a sneaking suspicion that DigitalBoy would hate iwouldetc.'s vocals and immediately pass them off as garbage if he were to listen to them.
I did that at first. Then I came back and now I like them...well some of their songs.
I also can't bring myself to listen to Fur Elise, it's ridiculously depressing music.
I Like Beethovens 7th much better. Cat Power-Free Nice stuff. Feels like soul music mixed with Grunge.

"****...I'm Dead" Like the band.
-
The Mars Volta-Aberinkula Man these guys new stuff is SO much better than their old stuff in my opinion. This album is ****ing amazing.
Also of note is the same one I always bring up, Julie Christmas from Battle of Mice and Made Out of Babies. She can sing in various levels of evil, and she has a deeply emotional and piercing scream. Nothing quite moves me like her voice.
She is the best female vocalist period... She can talk and make you feel like your about to crap your pants in fear. THAT my friend is talent. If I met her in person though I think she would frighten me a tad...
