Anime Everything I Need To Know I Learned from Anime
Panache replied to The Spectacular Professor's topic in Otaku Central
It should probably be positive, yeah. And if it's just reinforced that should be fine. It's just anything that is present in said anime, pretty much.
Well that leaves me with slightly less room to be humorous but that's ok. Arjuna Taught me to eat my freakin vegetables and not litter or nature will kick my ****ing ***. Don't **** with nature... Kino's Journey Taught me that you better keep your vehicle in good shape or it will give you some serious sas...seriously Hermes is sharp as a tack. Kaleido Star Taught me that vigorous practice leads to...people yelling at you a lot anyway...but your proud of yourself! Sorta... Elfen Lied Taught me that sometimes its OK to turn your TV off and storm out of your own room if the show is bad enough. -
Anime Everything I Need To Know I Learned from Anime
Panache replied to The Spectacular Professor's topic in Otaku Central
Anyway, what we gonna do is count off the valuable life lessons various anime have taught us and how.
Does it have to be positive and do I have to actually have learned it from said anime specifically(or can it just be an idea that is reinforced by an anime)? -
Anime My Mama Always Told Me Stupid is as Stupid Does...

Considering that his "opinion" is based on ******** I think he will get some sort of reprimand soon. -
Anime My Mama Always Told Me Stupid is as Stupid Does...
Panache replied to The Spectacular Professor's topic in Otaku Central
This guys brain is made of earwax. He clearly has no understanding of anime at all. What he is doing is the equivalent of reading a cat and the hat book and saying all books are for children. -
I have been listening to Gojira. I was sleepin on em before because I never heard a promising French Metal band besides nightmare in my life. These guys are really good. They remind me of a French Meshuggah.

Anime Best Anime Character Pairings / Relationships
Panache replied to XKaoriChanX's topic in Otaku Central
I find the relationship between Mike(sp?) and his sisters/girlfriends/whatever pretty interesting. The fact that you know they all love each other but none of the understand exactly what kind of love it is is interesting. Also Miyazawa and
Arima
in Kare Kano was a very well developed and well thought out relationship that was fairly dynamic and it progressed very well. -
Anime The Battle Between Manga and Anime (Anime Side)
Panache replied to Nomurah!'s topic in Otaku Central
I like them both equally for different reasons. What anime has over manga is that -Anime is generally cheaper(box sets>10 bucks per volume and there is 20 volumes...) -Anime usually portrays events on a clear fashion and you don;t get confused because of poorly thought out panels -Anime has sound, color, and voices...(most of the time for each) What manga has over anime is that -Portability(you can read it wherever you want) -It's a bit easier to keep your place(you don;t have to rewind and skip around just use a bookmark). -Your imagination makes up what the colors, sounds and voices are. That's my stance on the whole thing. Oh and
no real reading comprehension required.
That depends their is some wordy manga out there but in general I guess that is true. -
I am listening ot the .Hack//Sign ost. Man this is by far my favorite anime ost. I lvoe every song but I really love Fake Wings.
Disturbed's new single. "Inside The Fire." I attach the very adorable artwork to give you an idea, and you can find a rather high quality sound version in youtube. I find the sinister laughter to be coquettishly charming.
Ohh I haven't heard about this. Thanks for the heads up.
one of the shortest anime series,
It's 26 episodes long that isn't short at all. That's the average season length. Anyway I have read the first volume of the manga and I've seen a few episodes. I really wanna watch it in its entirely but the dvds are way to expensive since they were licenced by geneon in the U.S.
Right now, I know we've already covered this subject. But I'm listening to This Is Your Captain Speaking. For the reason... Well. They broke up. I was informed today by D.J (Drummer)... And it's kind of sad. They were only around for maybe two months, and I only got to see them live once (out of four total shows). I'm just really glad I get their demo before they broke up. Because, now the myspace is gone too. I'm sorry to all the people that liked them. :[
You have to be shitting me...It's been like a month since I discovered them. That's just grand.

I listened to more Miles Davis today. I don't really know what genre of jazz he is in but he sounds vaguely similar to this avant garde jazz musician named Pharaoh Sanders(at least in quality of music). They both are really incredible jazz musicians. Pharaoh can create a really amazing atmosphere that reminds me a lot of my favorite prog rock bands(Rush and Porcupine Tree). It's very easy stuff to listen to but it is sort of lively as well. Miles has easy to listen to music but I think it's less atmosphere but it's a whole lot...for lack of a better word "cooler." I just felt really good when I listen to Miles. At first I was sort of listening to him to get a feel of jazz music as a genre but I am really starting to fall in love with his music. Hell on the radio today they played Tchaikovsky and Mozart but I couldn't pull the headphones away from my ears because I needed to hear Miles. I can't wait to hear more.
That's what makes it such a good show, they didn't make the mistake of dragging it out with unnecessary filler episodes and such. Just thirteen altogether. Short, to the point and a fun retelling of Cinderella. I actually like this version a whole lot better than the Disney one and most Cinderella retellings. I never did care for that fairy tell to tell the truth. Well other than EverAfter... that was well done too. But it's not anime.
I was never much of a cinderella fan myself...but I am a guy so thats probably normal. Oh and it is most definitely better than the disney version. One of these days after I finish up Marmalade Boy and School Rumble I will finish it up.

I am listening to KoRn. No particular reason. I am listening to See You on the Other Side at this very moment. I think it's one of their best simply because of hypocrites liar and coming undone.

I watched about 6 episodes of this and then put it off to watch outlaw star. It's good I think but if it were any longer it would be tedious and terrible(I haven't seen it all but the pacing of the series makes that fact clear to me).
Hah, I can see why most people would hate that song. It's not really the A7X people are used to listening to, but I do find the song really good in terms of "Switiching it Up-ness". I do wonder why the Rev chose to do the drum lick he did before, during and after Syn's solo though....it kinda didn't fit what I'm used to hearing from him. It was a little Pop-ish. But, on another note, that would be a pretty good song to hear someone sing at a funeral (acoustically, of course).
The damn song reminds me of November Rain from Guns N roses...which is my least favorite song from them(although I still think it's better than this song). It's one thing to do a soft song but it's another thing to do a bad soft song. I mean all hard bands do at least one. Metallica had Fade to Black,Slipknot has Circle ect... I really just don't like his voice at all. It reminds me of Axel Rose with a cold and poor pitch control. Plus the video makes me wanna yack. Besides that song though that album was probably their best work. Right now I am listening to Escape from Metallica. For a long time I forgot how god damn good Metallica was. Their songs from the 80's were really aggressive but they had things that were interesting and sort of profound in their lyrics. Plus their singer didn't sound like a ****ing idiot like he does now on his new albums. I really want Tool to make a new ****ing album...I don't wanna wait till 2011 dammit...
Let's just say I lost a lot of body fluid to that song. I'd always cry while I listened to it... and I said 'let's just say' a second ago didn't I?
Really? That song makes me wanna stop listening to Avenged Sevenfold forever. To me that's easily their crappiest song to date. Anyway I have been listening to Eddie Vedder. This guy is ****ing amazing. Easily as good as Chris Cornell if not better. He has a lot of soul and sorrow in his voice but it's still really beautiful.
My Neighbour Totoro is perhaps the sweetest movie ever! I watched it yesterday. It's one of those films I could watch over and over!

That movie sorta hit me as dark near the end. I mean when the little girl started crying and they talked about her mother dying...it was really a sorrowful part of the movie. I was actually shocked to see it. To me it made the rest of the movie seem like an escape from the pain of their everyday world and pain.
It was still a great flick though. Not my Favorite Miyazaki Flick but a good one for damn sure.
Yeah, Miles is an interesting guy. Hard, free stuff. You like him, though, you might also want to check out Charlie "The Bird" Parker.
He's easily my favorite Jazz Musician. Miles just has a really relaxing and interesting sound. I took your recommendation and his kind of Jazz seems a lot more old school than Miles Davis. It sounds very swing like to me. I like it but it doesn't quite have the pizazz of Miles. Oh yea and I am listening to the Melvin's...Punk and Jazz what a combo...(The Melvin's bassist is now my new favorite bassist)

Cyngus...Vismund Cygnus by The Mars Volta and ******* Brew By Miles Davis. I wanted to compare a really long prog rock song to a really long jazz song. ******* Brew is miles ahead of TMV.

Well people in the amphitheater always seem to want some kind of music or another recommended to them so I figured I would make a thread for it. This thread is where you ask for recommendations for music if you haven't gathered that by this point. Basically just ask for recommendations and give as much information that is needed for you to find what you are looking for. For example "Hey I want some good Irish pop from the 40's anyone know of any good groups or artists?" Then if you know of anything give as much info as you can on the band and what type of music they play. Oh and linkage to helpful sites about the bands you mention are appreciated. An example response would be "Oh man you should check out the clover bandits their lead harmonica player was amazing! here's a link to their website(www.cloverbandits.com)" So I will go ahead and ask for a rec from you guys first. Anyone know of any indie groups from the 90's with a similar sound and general song structure as Beck(the band not Jeff Beck...)?
