Request Witch Hunter Robin banner and avi!
Roxie Faye replied to Redemption's topic in Creative Works
Is there anything else you want on the banner/avatar, like words, or your name or anything? And, would you like the same image of Robin from the banner into the avatar, or would you rather have a diff. image? (and do you want words on the avvie?) Any particular color scheme you want? I hope to finish your request by later today (as it's 1:00 A.M. my time), but that's looking rather busy for me - if you don't mind waiting until Saturday. =) -
No, you can't learn "Japanese" from anime. You can't learn "Japanese" from music, and you can't learn it from teach yourself tapes. Like any other language, it's constantly changing and phrases I used with my friend were joked about because of how dated they were. Yes, "arigatou" is the correct romanization. Period. There aren't varied romanizations for that word because when you type Japanese, the correct hiragana combination comes out to be "a ri ga to u". Japanese is a fun language but people online make it seem so taboo.
I disagree. I used a "teach yourself" type of book to learn some basics last year (because I didn't use it, I forgot what I learned, lol), but I think it worked pretty well. When I had Japanese students over for dinner one time (school program), they said I had the basic idea, though, like you said, some of the words I used were a little outdated. I also think I'm doing fine with my Japanese manga of Chobits. Not that I learned any Kanji from it, yet, but I have most of the Hirigana. ^^;;;; *sweatdrop* I do agree, though, that romaji has to be written correctly, and paid close attention to. I think for anime fans who want to use Japanese (in sigs, banners, whatever), Romaji is like a godsend (because who spends hours looking up characters?), but yes, should be done correctly. Someone a while asked why foreign swear words are appealing (I think it was wrist cutter); they just are. I mean, if people constantly use swear words in English, foreign languages are highly appealing to them. O_o;;; And, yes, I know this is a very very unlikely situation, but knowing them actually was convenient when a Japanese friend wanted to know what "jerk" meant. (Needless to say, I've forgotten all the swear words, because, again, I haven't used them. >.>;; ) Er... yeah. What was I going to say now? Oh yeah. I do know a little Japanese, but I haven't used it, so it's lost somewhere, in my brain's filing cabinet. Right now, all I remember is stuff like "Eigo ga wakarimasu ka." (was that even the right verb?) and "Roxie desu. Amerikajin desu." Well, "Oyasumi!" ^^;;;;;

Squee, digitalshadow - somebody remembers the Digi-peeps! ^__^ I thought everyone had forgotten about us. lol. Oh, remember the many attempts to re-create the Digimon section after it got shut down on theOtaku? Heh. ^^; Dan: I also remember when we used blogs instead of myOs, and your name wasn't Dan. Good times. And I remember Nerdsey's boards, they were fun - I was a Nerdling!. ^_^ Er.. yeah. That's all I had to say. *_*;

Oh my gosh. That's quite good for MS Paint. I probably wouldn't have been able to spot it as something MS Paint if you hadn't said anything. It would be really cool though, if you could gradient "My Panda" in black and white - it would add to the Panda feel. But, if you were actually intending for a little splash of color, then it's okay. (Another way you could go for color is use the paintbucket to make all the lines another color...) And I don't think it's a cry for attention at all - I used to post my MS Paint banners all the time. lol. P.S.: If you haven't discovered this yet, there's a very good tool in MS Paint; go to "image" (four spaces down from "file"), and uncheck the last one, "Draw opaque." Then, when you use the select tool, to select different parts, the white doesn't come with it! ^.^

Women's washrooms at school (not perverted)
Roxie Faye replied to Burori's topic in General Discussion
Oh my gosh. My old middle school used to have so much crap written on the walls. Some insults, some "intitials-heart-initials," and there was this morbid poem written on there once. O_o; I think they do it, because of what Rachael said, and I also think that when they were cutting classes (so many people used to do that and not get caught), they got really bored so they wrote stuff. Pretty stupid. :/ I have to say, though, that at my high school, I haven't a lot of things written on the stalls. A couple here and there, but not really. I think it's because they're too busy smoking, you know? *laughs* haha. -

AEB vs. OB: YOu know, I wasn't going to mention that, but hey, what the heck. It was very insane and crazy, to say the least. I think it was very confusing, too. Besides that, wasn't I entertaining during it all? *chortles* Haha. (P.S.: Charles, you r0x0r - I will never stop thanking you.) Cloud - he ish cool, just lacked a little judgement in his actions. Love the guy. ShyMod... yeah! I remember when you were supervisor. Those were the good days. ^^ YYH: haha. *laughs* keke.. Cookies: You will ALWAYS be the cookie man. *steals cookie* Kujalyn... never heard of that one. Must have been pretty scary. *_*;
I remembered the Digimon forum as it used to be- for ages after I joined it remained a really prosperous forum, but over time (and probably thanks to Fox Kids/ABC mucking schedules about and not broadcasting Season 4 to the UK), the whole thing fell apart a bit. It was a great shame, because that's where I've replied to some of my favourite topics. I go back and read them again from time to time, heh.
oh my gosh!!! Someone remembers the Digimon forum! I LOVED that place. ^_____^ Oh, do you remember Devidramon's rants? What about the one long sticky thread for any digiart/FMD? Oh, members like Sara, and Nerdsey, and Shy, and Baron Samedi, and clowmet, and Nu'dao, and Kittylyn ("Calumon_luver" anyone?)! I loved the Digimon forum so much. It was great. Absolutely great. Just fantastic. Yeah. Definately. Also wanted to mention: -Mnemolth. To me, I can't say he was bad, wasn't a saint, either. But he was cool. I felt special when I was the only legitimate vote he gave during the OtakuAwards before last. -The Charles Vs. Heavens Cloud rap battles. Heh. -Charles and his colorful usernames. ultra uber cool. -The Vampire: Ed and THE CRACKER CLUB. BUWAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Some things that happened to me: -Well, I met a lot of people and had a lot of fun, but specifically, Kevin (Rick Hunter), and JCBaggee (Chris: *plugs shamelessly* Oooh! LOOK AT MY SIGGY AND CLICK!). Why? Because those lead to otherboard times, for me. I guess, in a sense, that OB is like a train or subway station. It is a crossroads of sorts. You meet new people which starts new friendships. You get to other boards you enjoy. So even if you don't like it, you can't deny that it hasn't lead to new opportunities. *sighs*

Ooo! Actually, I've never met guy, IRL, with long hair, but I would SOOO date someone with long hair. Not that it would be the only reason for me to date them (that would be shallow), but it would be a major plus. I mean, look at all the anime characters with long hair, that people like. Uhm... Ken from Digimon has somewhat long hair, Amon from Witch Hunter Robin has long hair, Inuyasha (whom many -though not me - find attractive) has long hair, and Duo Maxwell is *the* hottie with long hair. [Incidentally, TheVampire: Ed has hair just as long as Duo. He's just as cute, too.] Or, even in films with actors, guys with long hair are really cute. Just look at Orlando Bloom in LoTR! Also, if you saw Van Helsing (very mediocre movie), Richard Roxbury (Dracula), in a wig of long hair, was very cute. (er.. that might just be me....) Point is: more guys should let their hair grow so it's long; They'd look very attractive. ¬_¬

*laughs* Oh my gosh! I STILL have Kuja's ban thread. I swear to God, I do! XD (I also have one where he got in a fight with Charles. O_o''') This place has had some of the greatest times ever. I mean, gosh. I joined towards the end of v4 (OMG, I feel so old now!!!! @_@), but I've still had good times. I used to visit theOtaku for the Digimon section (It was better than Meg-chan's, at one point), and then I joined the boards. My old username used to be roxieortatiana, but I changed it to what I have now, and haven't changed it, since! I feel so so old, for having lots of memories on these boards! *laughs* Yes, I remember the whole kuja incident - I still have his ban thread, too. *laughs* Oh, oh, and who remembers when ProudClod impersonated Sephiroth... a bunch of times! Haha. I remember Ginny's Mod rod (Ginnylyn created the mod rod - but it was Sara's smiley). I remember "TehSillyCircus" chat - I have TWO banners for it! I can always show them to you, if you want them. *giggles* I remember the Digimon forum so much, too. Oh, Cera and DM (mod mop - haha), and Shy. Who else posted in there? Oh! Kittylyn, and Devidramon's rants, and Nerdsey, and a whole bunch of people! ^^; By the way, this is an old OB thread about older versions of OB. The links Cloricus posted still work, so I believe you can visit them. On the archived/linked to version of "theOtaku" (you'll see when you visit the thread), if you click on the advertisement for OB, you get a pink version of it. Here's the thread: http://otakuboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14821 Oh, and who, of course, who remembers the six page discussion on closing the Newbie Lounge! I'm very very sorry to say, but I have a confession to make about that particular forum. *is quite shifty eyed* Well, you see, I had the original idea about the evil penguins trying to take over the world, and I got so carried away (who remembers Herbert - My AIM buddy Icon! ^_^), and then before I knew it, everyone else had evil animals taking over OB and the world. I know that several people have claimed to have been the first creator of the Penguins, but in reference to the time they made them, mine came first. I do believe I even have the links to the threads that I first started welcoming people with Penguins - but it wouldn't work anyways, the forum is deleted. So yes, I, alone, made those penguins, and most probably caused the downfall of that forum. *packs bags and shuffles out*

Haha. This reminds me of the boggarts from Harry Potter. I don't really have too many fears, unless, like Sara, I think about it. My major fears change all the time, too. O_o;;; Currently, my greatest fears include: never having friends - ever, depression, and not finding a career I like. Heh. ^^;;

Thank you, Sesshomuru. That was very nice of you, I appreciate it. ^_^ *giggles* I can't believe you quoted me, Silent Angel. I feel special. ^^;; Oh, and is it just me, or is every woman on this planet doomed to be unsatisfied with the size cup they have? Everyone who is an A cup wants to be a C cup, and vice versa. Me included. @_@;;;

God, that must have been so embarrassing. That's just about as annoying as getting toilet paper for Christmas (happened to someone I know because their mum went shopping a little too late). So, bra stories? Well, my mom loves sports bras, so when she went with me so I could by my first bra (pretty embarrassing in itsself), she bought me a sports bra. I told her it was too tight, but she was like "Oh, you'll get used to it." Well it really was too tight. I was small enough that sometimes I didn't have to wear it, and when I did, I had to stretch it out first, so it wouldn't be so tight on me. After a while, she asked me why they were stretched out, and thank god, I got regular bras with straps and snaps. lol. Oh, by the way, who else thinks it's totally stupid to put the clasp for the bra on the back? And now, more of the plastic things to adjust the length of the strap are put in the back. And who thought up this rediculous concept? A man, Of course!

I 'preciate it. ^_^

I've noticed that guys have this strange obsession with tampons. Twice, this year, I saw older groups of teens hangin' around. And then they're talking about tampons, and some of the people are guys. So the girls show them a tampon, and they went berserk. They were like "IT'S A TAMPON!!!!!!! I HAVE A TAMPON!!!!!!!! DUDE, IT'S A TAMPON!!!!!" Which was highly annoying, and I really don't understand the need to do that. :\ The other lame tampon story was when we were talking about bacteria in science class, including the one that give you TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome). The guys wanted to know how you got it, so our science teacher said only women get it from feminine hygiene products, and some of them thought he meant shampoo and soap. The girls burst out laughing. Heh.

I'm from New Jersey, USA, just 30-40 min outside NYC. Yeah, that close. My town's alright. It's really... I dunno. It's one of those towns where someone's great grandma lived, and everyone in the family after that, and the old teacher in the schools will know the family ofa student, because they taught them all. Yeah, one of those places. We have a bunch of historical places, too, like this house that George Washington stayed in, for one night, and so everybody thinks it's amazing. :rolleyes: I think it's cool because I've heard there's ghosts in it. :whoops: I'm 15 and going to be a Sophomore in the fall. I play the piano and the flute (though I'm better at the piano), and I used to horseback ride. I agree - my instructor was very bitchy about the way I would ride. Meh. I still like horseback riding, but not the instructor. I like to read, write stories, go online, and kill time any way I can. I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do with my future, and it's freaking me out. However, I do know I want a college education, and I'm looking at/I want to apply to colleges/universities like: Harvard, Wellesley, Radcliffe, Dartmouth, and Yale. Well, that's all, folks! =)

Wow. It's an actual drawing from Roxie. :eek: I haven't drawn anything in a long time. Mostly owing to the fact that, well, I can't draw. ¬_¬; ...Right. So, anyways, this is actually my first time drawing where the image isn't fascing you directly. Yes, that's sad. Told you I had no artistic ability. Meh. The only reason I really drew this was because the person in the picture is from an RPG on another board, and I wanted everyone there to have a basic idea of what she looked like. She's supposed to be carrying a wand, not a spear. I decided to settle for the shape atop the staff that I have now because I went through a billion designs, and I'm probably not making a new one. The little red dots should be smaller, but that was the sharpest I could get my colored pencil. It's supposed to be like a colorful hemline or something - since the rest of the shirt is like a canvas-y white. An yes, her hair really is melon. I'm not looking for these to be the greatest images in the world, but any suggestions/comments would be appreciated. ^_^ =)

Oh, this thread is so sweet. Well, crushes are sweet, in general. I couldn't tell you whether or not it's okay to be with someone you're met on the internet - it depends on your preference. Crushes can last less than a week (er... at least the online kind), so just wait a week or two to make sure you really have a crush on them, and then tell them. Sometimes these things just fix themselves. And in the end, they usually do go away. Heh. I've had so many internet crushes, they're not all worth mentioning. I think I had about three major ones; so I'll explain them quickly. Two of them, I told them how I felt; one after I didn't have a crush on them anymore - I wanted to get it off my chest, - and another when I did have a crush on them. And both people were really cool about it. Of course, neither of them felt the way I did, but nothing drastic about our friendship changed after I told them. And they're still my friends today. =) (see how telling works out, even when it doesn't?) Oh, and you know who you are. And if you say anything, I know where you live. And the other crush? Well, it was for a while, but I didn't know it until one day when it hit me like a ton of bricks. Then I got all crushy-obsessive-like about them. I was hoping that it would go away. In the end, I ended up making a character of them on the PC game The Sims, and after three days of working on the character's work skills, my crush was gone. Now I know what to do next time. V_v;; But I'm sure that was boring for most of you. The bottom line: tell your crush how you feel. I'f they're any sort of decent person, they won't hate you. And g'luck to you people. ^_^;
I like how 16 year olds talk down to 14 year olds online like they're Vietnam veterans or something.
That's not really a nice analogy to 'Nam. :/ But moving on, I am 15; however, may I remind you, I did NOT tell him to abstain, either. Unauthorized use of anime image in Bush campaign ad?
Roxie Faye replied to MillieFan's topic in General Discussion
Sorry, I'm really late to the thread, but yes, I found the ad extremely amusing, because whoever put it together is well, not together. *suppresses fit of giggles* I personally don't care if he gets a lawsuit or not. If I were the creator, I'd make him take the ad off, simply because it's an insult to Trigun. >_< (It is from Trigun, isn't it? Sorry, I never saw Trigun, but I'm assuming. =\). -
I'll be honest with you people, I've got no problem saying I plan on having sex with my girlfriend pretty soon. Some people think we're too young but we're both mature and ready for it, and we really love each other.
I'm not going to waste my time telling you to wait (besides, I think Dan rather did a good job with getting the massage across), because it's really your decision. But I'll be practical. Just don't be stupid. Always, always, always use protection - latex condom (and if you don't know how to use one it means you're not ready). And whatever you do, use that noggin' of yours, and some common sense. But that's really off topic (sorry, I did want to say that, though). This, I hope, is a little more topic-ishy:
Is it really true that girls bleed when they first do it? I've heard of "popping the cherry" but do they really bleed while they're doin it?
Yes, it's only the first time when a girl has sex. It's not like a ton of blood, it's just a little bit. And sometimes it's so small, it's really not noticeable. I'd get technical, but nobody wants to hear that. Don't worry about it. Oh, I also wanted to say something else about those biodegradable tampons: no matter what they say, don't flush them down the toilet. Trust me, they're not biodegradable. ¬___¬ (not that I've done that - someone I know did it.)
EDIT: We're not mean just because we don't believe you, Peach. We just know what we believe and don't. Doesn't make us bad people in any way, shape, or form.
No, it simply makes people who don't believe, very apathetic. (which isn't a bad thing some times. I'm just stating it.) =P I'm really surprised, though, at the lack of people who wouldn't believe him. You do know that crimes are sometimes not reported because people are afraid of not being taken seriously, don't you? And not only rape, I've read about other cases, but none come to mind. But I do believe you, Julias. I don't think you have a reason to lie for attention (and if I was skeptical, who care?) I do hope you're okay. Be careful next time, won't you! Oh, and happy Canada day (not that it seemed very happy. :/).

I first learned in health class, fifth grade. And yes, the handed out pads and deodorant. lol. I really don't think there are any directions on some of the tampon boxes either (I know there used to be, but I haven't used them in a long time - I don't like them). Books do really help with using them - that's where my instruction came from. Ever read The care and keeping of you? Yes. Exactly. XD I used to be really embarrassed to talk about period and sex and stuff, but a whole.entire.marking.period of health will change you quickly. V_v; It was really funny, some of the discussions we would get into at the end of the year (4th MP was when everybody had health). Oh, BTW:
Especially since I've heard that losing your virginity hurts, and you bleed...[/COLOR']
I don't know if it hurts, I'm still a virgin. :/ but yes, you do bleed. Ever heard of the expression "popping the cherry"? The hymen breaks, and there's some bleeding. (Sorry if that's gross - I'm just trying to be informative). See what I mean about health class?!? *mumbles loudly* Damn it. I'd have to say, though, that this health class was the most straightforward. I think it's because I'm now in high school. I mean, come on, who else had those strange, awkward health classes in middle school? Heh.

*breathes hard* Sorry, I only just came down to this forum. I have somewhat confirmed news about HP book 6. I wasnt' sure if this should go in the HP book 5 thread, but I figured the title alone would generate it's own discussion. If it turns out the mods think this should go in the other thread, you can always merge them (er... I hope). Now, here's my news about HP book 6. I was watching CNN approximately 30 minutes ago; 10:40 A.M. EST. I have no way of confirming the following; CNN may be tricking us all, somebody may be tricking CNN for all I know. But as it stands currently, the title for Harry Potter book 6 is: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Thoughts, comments? Who could be the Half Blood Prince? Vicktor looks likely, or what about even old Voldie? Hmm...

I've gotten weird AIM things like that, but I don't remember the last one I did get - it was such a while ago (thank goodness). The chain e-mails are sometimes annoying, too. lol. I have my buddy list preferenced so that only if you're on my buddy list, can you IM me. And I don't have my IM SN in my OB profile, either, so that eliminates stuff, too. O_o (because I have AOL, and aol people's e-mail address are the same as their SNs). Jeeze, some people have waay too much time on their hands...
