THE UNSEEN RISING
Due to the sheer amount of people that signed-up (about twice the amount I expected) I've decided that there's no point in separating the rookies from the Elites. If you signed-up as a Rookie you are now an Elite. There is a lot of characters here to remember and if someone wants to back out now is the time to do it to save us the trouble of writing you in/out. Let me know (no hard feelings!). Otherwise we're good to go. Enjoy!

VOLUME I
A crack in the worst of places...

One by one Zachary watched his investigation team assemble before him. Cho Eun Jung, the young Psychometric, able to pick up on certain details of an objects history simply by touching it. Cross Rumore, the cautious empath, always prepared for any situation and has the ability to sense the mood and intent of any form of creature, a useful talent indeed. Cross arrived with a Pizza as well, just incase he was the last to arrive. But he was not.

Next arrived Philip, or "He Who Walks Among Us" an old friend of Zach's. Able to see and perceive the spirit realm at a glance, his power has proved useful many times. Blayze Frost followed, the silent but strong-willed childhood friend of Zach's had many dreams in the past that allowed PIT to be one step ahead of their rivals and enemies. She arrived with a frown on her face, clearly she'd dreamed something bad the night before. Before Zach could ask what, more of his team arrived.

Silje "Trin" Holan, another childhood friend of Blayze and Zach, arrived without a word but a simple nod to Zach and the others. For the longest time Zach was sure they were the same in that they were the only ones in the group without any paranormal power or talent, but it's become a bit more obvious lately that Trin always seems to be the center of any unusual occurrence perhaps making her a sort of magnet for the paranormal.

After that Ally Harper, the young, genius strategist, popped in with not one, but two pizzas and a huge, wide grin.

"I'm not late am I?" she said. Zach smiled and motioned to put the pizza on the table behind him.

"Nah, you're right on time. We're just waiting on a few more." he replied and without a pause the next member arrived. A tall, muscular man with a gray fur-lined jacket and a beige cowboy hat stood with a grin at his blood circle that brought him there.

"Cowboy's here?! This must be serious." said Eun Jung. Before anyone could reply the final three members appeared before them. The first, a young girl with brown hair whom everyone called Blu, a sort of empath but for spirits. And finally the twins, Lucas and Ayeika DuVaull arrived. The blonde-haired chaotic duo not only had excellent photographic memory, but they provided PIT with an easier way of luring out spirits from their dark corners. Zachary examined everyone in the room and smirked.

"Alright, everyone is here. Listen up!" he yelled. The members of PIT all sat down at a large round table they used for case briefings. "I'm sorry to have called a lot of you off from your vacation, but this is serious." he paused and took a moment to collect his thoughts.

"Earlier today I received a call about a woman who's been possessed. The demon has requested specifically for PIT to come see him. We're going to go check it out, see what this thing has to say, get rid of it and hopefully save this woman in the process." Zach wished that was all there was to it.

"There's more, though. I went to a meeting the other week with leaders from Paranormal Teams all over the world. We all know of the huge spike in activity over the past years, but we now have a confirmed source. One of the teams has a member much like Phil who can see the Spirit Realm. They've found a huge crack in the barrier between our two worlds that stretches from one side of Antarctica to the other. Apparently ghosts and ghoulies of all kinds are just pouring out of there." Zach explained.

"We can't let this crack keep opening like this, and we need to find out what this demon wants. I'm going to split us into two team right now. I'll lead the team going to see the demon as he'll likely want to talk to me personally and Cowboy will lead the team going to Antarctica as there may be more than a few creatures to fight. Protect them with your life, Cowboy." Cowboy nodded in response. "Now, Phil, Eun Jung, Ally and Blu, you guys head with Cowboy to the crack in the barrier. See if you can find out how it happened, if it truly is getting worse, etc. Don't get yourselves killed if you are attacked by anything do not engage, only retreat you're there to collect information. The rest of you are coming with me. Let's go." and with that the members of PIT stood up from their seats and walked back to their blood circles.

"You guys heading to Antarctica will be using Para-1's small base they've set up there." Zach handed Cowboy a scroll with a blood circle on it, the pattern was vastly different from the one they used to get to the HQ however. "Use this blood pattern to get there. I think only their medical specialist and bodyguard are there at the moment, but they'll provide you with proper attire to face the weather and a place to call home base for a while."

"The rest of us are using my blood circle. The victim is fairly close to my apartment so we'll go from there. Text or call me if anything should happen. Good luck everyone."

So there you have it! Half of you are going with Zach to the house where this woman is possessed and the other half is going to Antarctica to examine this rift between two worlds. I've separated you based on your powers and their usefulness in those situations.

Those of you heading to the crack, your first few posts will consist of arriving at Para-1's (another research team allied with PIT) small base of operations there, getting equipped properly, and heading out to the crack to see what's happening. What happens while you're there is up to you just remember this crack is indeed getting bigger and it may be dangerous (i.e. you could get attacked by multiple spirits, maybe even a creature or two).

For those of you coming with me your first posts will be us heading from Zach's apartment to a small town a few hours away where this demon is waiting. Don't rush us getting there as we can talk a bit on the way. When we do arrive at the town you'll notice it's very desolate and supernaturally active. As we get closer to the house we'll find the entire town is basically haunted and then I'll post the beginning of our actual encounter with the demon to start the real story. We can start having encounters with ghosts and such before we even get to house (as we near the town) if you need something to write about. Nothing dangerous really, just weird.

If you have ANY questions or concerns please post them in the Underground thread here. I'm going to introduce the Psychic-pet idea fairly soon but I need to know what pet everyone wants (if you want one). Happy posting, everyone!

Lucas smirked as they stood to leave. "Sister, think we'll have any fun?"

"I don't know, I hope so." Turning to the others traveling with Zach, they both flashed their million dollar smiles. "Zach, do you think we'll have any fun?" Ayeika asked.

"You two are nuts." came his reply. They both laughed, and, like mirror images of one another, held up their forefingers and thumbs to signify 'just a little' while Lucas grabbed his violin case before heading out.

They walked along with Zach and the others, everyone bidding the other team a pleasant and safe journey.Lucas and Ayeika's team one by one stepped into the blood circle, and were teleported to Zach's apartment. Ayeika stretched, and Lucas shivered. "Blech... I never did like moving about in that manner."

"You're telling me..." Ayeika responded. Looking around, she smiled. It wasn't often that she had the priveledge of being in Zach's apartment. "You know, Zach, you should clean up some. The underwear on the sofa is a nice touch, though."

Looking over to his sofa rapidly, he snorted after realizing Ayeika was joking. Lucas only smiled, shaking his head. "Une dame devrait vraiment essayer d'être plus élégant.." he said in French. A lady really should try to be more elegant.

"Je vais laisser l'élégance à vous, cher frère." she replied. "Après tout, tu es le seul qui joue du violon." I'll leave the elegance to you, brother dear. After all, you're the one who plays the violin.

"And you do opera." he retorted. Looking down at his violin case, he sighed. "I hope this will be enough to protect us. Demons never were something I've been too fond of." Thinking back to the fire, he zoned out for a few moments while the plan of action was discussed. Transportation was already handled, the twins kept two cars in the parking lot of Zach's complex, a sports car for them, and a van for buisness. Unconciously, Lucas was rubbing the back of his right leg, and feeling the marred, twisted flesh from his burns. The others still had yet to discover he or his sister's scars, and they intended to keep it that way.

Ayeika noticed her brother's absent mind, and began snapping her fingers in his face. "Earth to Lucas...Come in, Lucas..." Tuning back into reality, he noticed everyone was staring at him. Blushing, he looked down at his feet and stopped messing with his leg. "Oh... um..."

"Head in the clouds?" Trin asked, and Lucas's face reddened. "It's n-nothing." Ayeika eyed her brother, snorting in contempt. "Menteur." Liar.

OOC: Just so everyone knows, the twin have a bad habit of talking in French to one another and switching out with English randomly. www.babblefish.com is the website I use to translate what they say. Edited by Inuyasha Fandom

Ally stepped into the room and tapped Bluâ??s shoulder â??Blu? We gotta get outside with the rest of our group. its been four minutes... and though i doubt we will be left behind i would like a better reason to get on Cowboy's bad side.â? Ally walked back through the hallway and out the door into the night. She liked the moderate weather here, but the arctic did give her the chance to try out her more elaborate jackets.

â??Sorry you had to come and get me, Iâ??m usually fairly on the ball with these things.â? Blu Seemed to be as focused as ever, she just had a lot on her mind.

â??Donâ??t worry about it, I am good at keeping track of people remember?â? Ally shot her a smile, then ran on ahead to greet the rest of her team. â?? I got her Cowboy, so did you decide which cars we are taking on this trip?â?

â??I hardly think it matters little miss Harper, as we are using a blood circle.â? Cowboy could tell she was joking with him, but he still preferred not to joke back as of now, there would be time for laughs when the mission was over, â??So I suppose everyoneâ??s already to be heading off?â?

Each member agreed, the group gathered and clutched onto there bags tightly. Few brought more than a backpack or a suitcase, since they expected to be taken care of at Para-1 and they hoped the trip would be short.

====================================================

The team arrived at Para-1 and were immediately greeted by the bodyguards. The group shook hands and Cowboy walked with them to discuss the groups arrangements.

â??Thatâ??s quite a bit of fun!â? Ally stated, as the group dusted themselves off and checked there bags.

â??I can't say I like it as much as you do allyâ?¦ you donâ??t really use Blood circles much do you?â? Eun Jung replied with a smile.

â??I am just glad we got here in one pieceâ?¦ I am never sure how those things work at long distances, feels like one of my mornings after a night on the townâ? Phil was not too excited with getting this close to the spirit world again, though he hid it well.

Cowboys discussion with the bodyguards ended and he reproached the rest of the group.
Ally of course took the first word â??so whatâ??s the vacation itinerary Cowboy?â?

â??You ought to listen before speaking miss Harper, I will tell you all about how this mission, not the vacation you recently enjoyed, is going to be settled. Also, when are you going to dye your hair something normal?â?

â??That would be never,â? she beamed.

Cowboy had to wipe the look of disdain from his face before continuing.. â??We have been permitted full access to the facilities, and I have a key card for each of you, there is plenty of room here since this place is located in the most unpleasant part of the living world I have been to since I left the service. Earlier that morning

A buzzing, chirping noise roused Phil Tennant from his restless slumber. He groaned and rolled over to grab his phone, seeing a message from Zach as the screen lit up. He was momentarily tempted to ignore it and go back to sleep, but he pushed this notion to the back of his head and opened the message.

Team! A sudden A-Class case has emerged and needs immediate response by the elites. This is an order not a request! Meet at the Elite HQ ASAP! Bring pizza if you're late!

Phil groaned again and rubbed his eyes, slowly shifting so he was sitting on the edge of his low bed. He coughed a few times to clear his throat and got to his feet, pulling his t-shirt from the night before off the top of his dresser and pulling it over his head. As he moved he grabbed his jeans and pulled them on too, followed by a dark plaid shirt over the t-shirt.

"Where are you going?" came a voice from behind him. He started, and turned to face the woman lying on the other side of his bed, the woman he had forgotten was there. Her blonde hair was tousled and her eyes were puffy, but she was still extremely attractive.

"I'm really sorry but I have to go into work," he said, ambling over to the bed, leaning over and kissing her on the forehead, "There's some coffee in the cupboard, grab a cup when you get up and let yourself out, I'll call you later, ok?" She nodded and flopped back down onto the bed, falling asleep almost instantly. Phil sighed with relief, grabbed his boots and left his bedroom.

After the meeting...

The large assembly trailed out of the meeting room, avoiding the numerous blood circles the team members had used to get to the headquarters. Cowboy stayed behind to discuss assignments with Zach, but the rest of his team moved towards the equipment room to grab a few cold-weather clothes: while the Antarctic branch of PIT would provide them with full equipment when they got there, they would need something to stave off the initial chill when they arrived. The equipment room was filled with shelves and clothes rails, each of which were full of clothes and equipment belonging to the various members of the team. Phil moved over to his own, fairly messy corner of the room and started sorting through his things. The other members of the Antarctic team followed suit, grabbing heavy-duty boots and jackets from the equipment shelves.

"Antarctica?" said Ally in disbelief, grabbing clothes as she spoke, "They get to go to some woman's house and we have to go to Antarctica?"

"Come on, Antarctica's not so bad if you don't mind freezing your arse off," replied Phil with a smirk, pulling his own warm jacket from the rail, "Plus, who wants to go visit some woman's house and have a chinwag with a demon when you can go see a crack in the fabric of the universe? Have a little curiosity, Ally!"

"You've been there before?" asked Eun Jung.

"Well, no. I've been to Scotland in winter, I can't imagine they're too much different," he replied with a wink, "I met the head of the Antarctic research team last year, though, and he says it's not so bad. There's emperor penguins, and if you can catch the aurora australis then it's a pretty nifty place to be."

"Emperor penguins?" Eun Jung replied excitedly, and Blu seemed to perk up as well.

"Yeah, but we probably won't have time to see them. Might get a little distracted by creepy ghosts and ghoulies pouring out of the aforementioned crack in the universe..." Eun Jung gave Phil a slightly scathing look in return for his sarcastic comment, and he grinned back at her. Her disdain could only last so long, however, and after a moment her face broken into an even wider grin than Phil's own. Phil pulled off his Doc Martens and exchanged them for a thicker, more heavy-duty pair as Cowboy strolled into the room.

That swagger has to be an affectation, thought Phil, No-one is that much of a dandy Southern gent...

"We're heading off, people. Five minutes and I'm drawing the circle," he said. Phil fired off a mock salute, to which Cowboy responded with a playful but withering look before leaving the room again. Phil laughed a little and returned to lacing his boots.

She knew she should have brought pizza. Not that any of them would probably be eating much in the frigid temperatures. Blu did have a lot on her mind - she always seemed to, even though her life was... fairly simple. Working at the flower and herb greenhouse. Volunteering at church now and again, though she didn't really care much for the services. Normal things for a normal girl....

Right. Normal.

She still felt a little out of place with the PIT team, but they were all always so very nice, she knew it was just her. She had smiled a little sheepishly at Ally, but there wasn't really much time for small talk before they were whisked away through the circle. Blu could feel the tingling of things she couldn't see, echoes and almost half seen faces and moments through the veil of their protected spirits' travel. She didn't much like traveling this way. She usually ended up having strange - and unpleasant, dreams after using the circles. It was lessening a little, the more she used them, but she shivered anyway as they all stepped out into their destination, partially from the cold, and partially from the lingering feeling.

What would it be like, to get lost in that swirling, half existent state...?

There was not much time to wonder on that either, Cowboy taking the lead and the rest of them going to get their gear.

A crack in the universe... It was quite a concept. And a rather frightening one at that, when you thought about it. But... there wasn't time for thought. Not too much, at least. She was getting better at the 'less thinking, more doing' part of the job. Sort of.

"Five minutes," she repeated to herself after Cowboy came in to inform them of their imminent departure. She looked around, mirroring the others' movements on what gear to take. Heavy jackets, gloves, goggles, thermal packs, and all other manner that screamed, welcome to hostile territory. Stepping closer to Ally, she smiled softly at the other girl. "I suppose this is a bit like an adventure."

"Yeah," Phil quipped, "An adventure where were we all could die at any moment."

Blu paled a little, hand going absently to the pendant around her neck, but her smile didn't fade. The silver pendant was chilly against her fingers. "Well," she shrugged, outwardly calm as ever, "At least we have penguins."

At the facility...

â??We have been permitted full access to the facilities, and I have a key card for each of you, there is plenty of room here since this place is located in the most unpleasant part of the living world I have been to since I left the service. We are going to take a little bit of time to get settled in our rooms and then we'll head out to check this 'Crack in the universe' business." Cowboy took a few minutes to distribute the keycards, each would open any common area of the facility as well as was specific to one guest room for each member of the team. Once they had been passed out, he began again.

"Take some time to find your rooms, as well as to get acquainted to the facility. We'll meet up again in about an hour - dress warmly. And Miss Harper," he turned to look at her, "this means you. Please seriously consider my motto of comfort trumps fashion." Ally simply scoffed at the advice and rolled her eyes. Cowboy sighed but said nothing further on the subject. "Dismissed. See you all in an hour." He picked up his bag and tipped his hat at them, before turning and heading down the hallway towards the accommodation rooms.

The group began to break up, some heading straight to their rooms to rest and mentally prepare themselves, others drifted towards the common areas to survey their new surroundings. Eun Jung wandered down the long hallway of bedrooms, looking down from the number of her key to the doors and back again.

"137... 137... Umm... 133, 135, ah, here we go! 137." She stopped in front of the door, indistinguishable from any of the others, besides the bold black numbers proclaiming the identity of the room. She flashed the keycard in front of the sensor to the side of the door, the light changing from red to green and a nearly inaudible click as the lock opened. Eun Jung pushed down on the handle and stepped in, the door shutting behind her, the lock latching securely back into place.

The room was clean, simple and modern. The furniture was sparse but tasteful, a large window covering most of the far wall that looked out onto stretching snow covered plains. It was different from what Eun Jung had ever seen before and she looked out in awe as she placed her small bag of personal belongings on her small but comfy twin sized bed, white and grey bed spread with matching pillows and curtains. There was a bathroom just off to the right of the door, decorated similarly with sporadic yet eloquent touches of decorating, monochromatic and metal. Urban and manufactured.

Eun Jung pulled out a pair of dark blue skinny jeans, a long white tunic and a long grey wool sweater that would cover it. She pulled off her cardigan, skirt and leggings, changing quickly. Even though she was inside, the room was chilly and she shivered as she pulled the sweater on over the tunic. She brushed her hair out with her fingers and then pulled it up into a loose bun on top of her head. She wound a long white scarf around her neck, grabbed her heavy overcoat, and then jammed a toque and mittens into the pockets. She put on her heavy fur-lined boots and stopped to examine herself in the mirror.

Satisfied with what she saw, she grabbed the keycard off the table and headed out the door into the hallway. She shut it securely behind her and didn't look up as she turned, ploughing straight into Phil.

"Ah! Ouch!" Her jacket was on the ground. So was Phil.

"Oh my gosh! I am so sorry, Phil! Oh my gosh..." She clamoured over to help him, apologizing profusely, and reached out a hand to help him up. Phil just grinned as she pulled him to his feet and picked up his jacket to hand it to him.

"You know, you don't have to apologize so much. It's fine, I'm fine!" he laughed, "It's not like you haven't done that to me before... or every other member of our team, for that matter." Eun Jung grimaced sheepishly. it wasn't exactly an exaggeration.

"Sorry..." she mumbled. She stood up after picking up her own jacket, and he grabbed her gently but firmly by the shoulders.

"It's O.K. Okay? O.K." She gave him an awkward grimace/smile and he simply laughed. "Where are you off to? Join me for lunch, would you? I want to check out this place's kitchen facilities." Eun Jung nodded.

"Sure, I was on my way there already, myself." She smiled.

"Excellent, it's settled."

The two set off in the direction of the common areas, passing a few regular employees of the base, stopping to chat for a minute each time before continuing on. They passed a simple lounge room with some comfy worn in over-stuffed chairs and a TV, a small gym with some weights, treadmills, bikes and mats.

"Not too shabby at all." Phil commented.

"I wouldn't mind living her for a little while, I think..." Eun Jung replied.

"You say that now... wait til' we get outside for real." She pulled a face in response.

"I'm not so much looking forward to that part. We need team robots... send them to go check out this place for us, make sure it's worth going outside and freezing our bums off for!"

"Now there's an idea. Ghost sensing robots. We should definitely tell Zach about that." Phil and Eun Jung grinned at one another.

They passed a doorway. "Ah, here it is, the best part of any living space - the kitchen." They walked in and immediately Phil made a bee-line for the fridge, Eun Jung heading towards the cupboards. She moved things this way and that, until -

"Aha! Here we go!" She emerged triumphantly from one of the cupboards with Nutella.

"Yuck! How can you eat that stuff. It's so sweet!" Phil wrinkled his nose.

"I know! We never had sweet stuff for breakfast back in Korea... and wouldn't you know, turns out I love it!" She beamed at the little jar of chocolate hazelnut spread. She grabbed a piece of bread out of a bag on the counter, a knife from a drawer and slathered some Nutella on the bread before folding it in half and taking a huge bite.

Phil on his part had found a bottle of vodka in the freezer.

"Well hello, there's one of my own favourites." He pointed to it. "I'll be saving that for later." It was Eun Jung's turn to wrinkle her nose. "Not much of a drinker, I take it?"

"I've just got no tolerance. Plus it tastes just awful!"

"Hey, different strokes..." He shut the freezer door, and watched Eun Jung for a moment as she demolished the sandwich. "Hey, E - when you pick up stuff like a knife, do you see into it's past when someone used it for something else?"

"Oh, haha, very funny." Eun Jung rolled her eyes. "I can usually only see something from an object if something big happened to it or around it or with it. You know, it'd have to be something big in the knife's life. Haha. Knife's life. That's funny." Their conversation was cut short by the sound of Cowboy's voice booming down the hallway.

"Team, assemble! It's time we move out."

Cowboy paced in the garage waiting for the others to arrive. He had traded in his usual attire for the more snow acclimated gear they had on site. His jacket now a thick navy blue parka with a faux-fur liner and a â??P-1â? patch on the right arm sleeve, jeans now a pair of black snow pants, and a pair of bulky boots. Cowboy flexed his fingers trying to get used to the winter gloves. He gripped the silver survival knife sheathed in his beltline comforted in the thought of having it on his person.

The room filled with the sound of hurried footsteps. Blu rushed into the garage in a white blur. â??Iâ??m here!â? She announced excitedly. Looking around the room she noticed that she was the first to arrive. â??I thought I was late. . .â?

â??Not at all, first on deck Blu.â? Cowboy replied with a small smile. â??It is goinâ?? to be pretty damn hard to keep an eye on you when youâ??re the same color as everything around you.â? He teased.

â??Itâ??s all I had.â? She replied looking down at herself.

At this point both Phil and Eun Jung strolled into the room, both dressed and packed for the venture and engrossed in quiet conversation. They both nodded to Cowboy and Blu. Phil stared at Cowboy for a moment with a studious expression. â??You know Cowboy; I think this is the first time I have since you sans your hat. In fact, I am sure of it.â?

Cowboy ran his hand through his hair. â??I didnâ??t really want to risk my Stetson.â? He reached into the pocket of his parka and pulled out a black knit cap, sliding it onto his head. â??Figured this would suit the occasion much better.â?

Lastly Ally joined the group. She walked stiffly with her arms wrapped around her, shivering ever so slightly. Cowboy eyeballed her for a moment but gave up on telling her to dress warmly.

â??Now that everyone is present, we are goinâ?? to head out and see what we are dealinâ?? with. Hopefully it is just an overreaction, but letâ??s be prepared likewise. We are going to take their Snowcat to the rift; it is about ten klicks north of here.â?

Phil nodded in confirmation, both Blu and Ally looked at each other and Eun just cocked her head slightly.

â??That is roughly six miles.â? Phil murmured to the others, garnering two appreciated nods from Blu and Eun.

â??Right, well we arenâ??t exactly sure where the location is, we do have an area we could check out due to some activity. And seeinâ?? as we got so many of you being able to feel the presence of these folks, I donâ??t worry too much about us findinâ?? the place. So if youâ??ll follow me, we can get goinâ??.â? Cowboy finished flicking a thumb to the side door of the garage.

Ally jogged up beside of Cowboy. â??Hey Cowboy! What is a Snowcat? I thought we would take snowmobiles or something.â?

Cowboy chuckled to himself as he opened the door to the garage, windswept snow into the doorway and Ally quickly went rigid as the temperature hit her, making her inhale sharply and hold onto herself tighter.

â??Ainâ??t really the temperature youâ??d wanna take a vehicle with no heater or windshield. Wouldnâ??t you agree?â? He drawled with a smirk. They rounded the back of the building where a red truck, roughly the size of an RV, that sat high on treads was idling for them. â??Figured I would have Para-1 get her warmed up for us. And that, Miss Harper, is a Snowcat.â?

They all piled in with Cowboy holding the door and nodding as each climbed the stairs. When he climbed in he noticed how spacious the vehicle actually was. With seating for about ten people, along with allotted areas for research to be conducted, there was plenty of room for the team to spread out. Phil jumped in the driverâ??s seat and started looking over the controls. Blu and Eun took their seats near the back and were just staring out into the tundra, most likely hoping to catch a glimpse of a penguin. While Ally huddled next to the closest heating vent she could find to fend off hypothermia.

Cowboy started checking the compartments of the Snowcat. He had almost soured the whole cabin before he found what he was looking for. He flung the heavy brown coat towards Ally. She caught it and gave it a questioning look before resigning to putting it on. She wrapped it around herself and gave Cowboy a grave look before turning her attention back to the heating vent.

-----

An hour passed on their trek to the rift. Phil was taking his time traversing the terrain. Both Eun Jung and Blu gave up on spotting the penguins and had sunk back into their seat both looking quite bored and Ally had taken up their position at the window. Cowboy sat shotgun watching the horizon. The cabin was silent except for the growl of the engine.

â??This the right way Phil?â? Cowboy asked breaking the silence. He just received a glare from Phil as a reply. â??Sorry friend, meant nothinâ?? by it.â?

â??This is taking forever! I could have walked there by now.â? Moaned Ally from the back.

â??Were almost there.â? Replied Phil.

Cowboy checked the GPS that was left in the cabin of the Snowcat. It read that they were just about to the projected location of the rift when it suddenly cut out into static. The engine suddenly seized with a vicious groan and shut off.

â??I think that means we are close.â? Ally murmured wryly.

â??Iâ??d say so.â? Cowboy said getting up from his seat. â??Looks like we are hoofinâ?? it from here folks.â? He looked over to Phil.

He sat in the drivers seat, knuckles white as he gripped the steering wheel tight. He stared blankly forward.

â??You okay there bud?â? Cowboy asked putting a hand on Philâ??s shoulder.

â??Something big is out there, something very big.â? He replied dryly.

â??The rift?â? asked Eun stepping forward from the back. Phil just shook his head in reply. â??What about you Blu?â? asked Eun turning around. â??What do you feel?â?

Blue closed her eyes and pushed her senses out around her, feeling for the being. She sat for a moment, her face twisting in concentration. Then suddenly her eyes shot open and she stumbled back out of her seat, startled.

â??It is very violent. It wants us out of its territory.â? Blu gasped, trying to catch her breath.

â??So we are trapped in a broken down truck in the middle of the tundra with an angry being circling us?â? Asked Ally.

â??Seems that way.â? Replied Cowboy as he drew his knife and started darting between windows.

Ally rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. â??Perfect.â?

Phil gave a casual shrug, â??Well look on the bright side Ally, at least the heat is stiâ?¦.â? before the sentence was finished the lights in the Snowcat flickered out. Even with the darkness Phil could see the fire in Allyâ??s eyes. â??Before you get mad at me for jinxing it, Iâ??d like to point out that whatever it was probably just overheard me.â?

â??That doesnâ??t make it any better Philip!â? today wasnâ??t going the way she planned it. This cold was a lot colder than any cold she had experienced. Instead of wearing the cute rhinestone leather jacket she had this brown atrocity (which she liked more and more the colder she got) now we were being threatened by some ghostly jerk two minutes from the crack.

Cowboy stepped to the door, â??alright folks what do we have out there?â?

â??Itâ??s a poltergeist Cowboy,â? Eun Jung stated, â??there is only this one fiddling with the Snowcat but I cant tell if what we will run into along the way to the crack.â?

â??I can take us down a safe path once we are outside guys, I can feel everything from here to the crack pretty clearly.â? Ally looked at Cowboy hopefully, and he eventually nodded.

Cowboy grasped the manual release handle on the side of the Snowcat, â??before we head on out of here, does anyone know how we can rid ourselves of our new friend?â?

The group glanced at each other then shook their heads.
â??We need a body to burn,â? Phil grunted uneasily â??with the crack releasing ghosts from the other realm, this is no longer a simple matter of severing ties to the mortal world.â?

Cowboy sighed, â??looks like we are going to have to avoid it then. Remember that Poltergeists feed of your energy, so keep your hat on when things start movingâ?¦ we donâ??t want it to get strong enough to grab one of us.â?

â??Or worse,â? Phil smiled, â??damage the Snowcat!â? the joke got a chuckle from Ally, but everyone else was focused on the task ahead. Cowboy yanked the handle, immediately letting in freezing cold wind. The Snowcat began to shake as they stepped out, but the team quickly exited the vehicle without issue.

Ally was last out, when she turned around to shut the door her arm was grasped by the poltergeist, she knew not to lose control of herself but there was a treble in her voice when she spoke â??Guys! I... it grabbed me, its got my arm!â? Blu rushed to the door but with the sudden shift in the groups emotional state to worried, the poltergeist yanked Ally back into the Snowcat and slammed the door shut.

Blu pulled the handle to no avail. â??Donâ??t worry, just keep calm and she will be fineâ? Cowboy said, giving the handle a strong pull, slowly opening it.

â??Blu, Eun Jung , get on the other side of the hatch and make sure it doesnâ??t close!â? Phil exclaimed as he and Cowboy entered the Snowcat. Phil stepped inside and noticed the ghostly field holding Ally to the ceiling. â??Cowboy, its got her pinned to the roof.â?

â??Sooorry guys!â? Ally apologized while spinning slowly in circles on ceiling, â??I guess it doesnâ??t like me very much.â?

The seat-belt straps snapped off of there seats, then soared across the area, the two P.I.T. veterans ducked behind the passenger seats to avoid them. â??On the contrary Ally, This one likes you so much it doesnâ??t want to give you upâ? Ally laughed, but the spinning hastened and she bumped her head on a light fixture."

â??Just stay calm miss Harperâ? Cowboy implored, â??we will get you down.â?

â??No worries Cowboy, Iâ??m cool as a cucumber. The only thing Iâ??m afraid of is loosing my lunch on your jacket.â? Edited by CaNz

Lucas started up the engine of the van, and smiled as he heard it turn over. Unfortunately, the twin's sportscar was going to have to sit this one out, it just was big enough for the seating required for this mission. Ayeika slipped a CD into the player, and smiled when her faveorite song began to blare out of the speakers. Kerli's 'Tea Party' blasted out of the sound system. Trin bobbed her head with Ayeika singing, and Cross looked rather unimpressed with the girls making merry.

Lucas pulled the van out of the parking space, and revved the engine. Turning his head, Zach's eyebrow twitched. "Don't you dare."

"Dare what?" Lucas asked innocently, smiling. He stomped on the gas pedal, the back tires spinning out until they had acheived traction on the pavement. Tearing out of the apartment complex, Lucas gunned the engine, speeding torwards the highway like a madman. Ayeika giggled now, and changed the music, to something more fitting of her brother's tyranical driving. Ozzy Osbourne's Crazy Train belted out of the sound system, and she turned to look at the others, who were all hastily fastening their seat belts. Cross yelled out, "DID YOU GET YOUR LISCENCE OUT OF A CEREAL BOX, YOU PSYCHO?!"

"Relax, Cross." Ayeika spoke, rocking out to the music. "We've been hearing interesting things ourselves about the highway leading to our destination, even before this mission."

Zach looked at the twins in confusion. "And why didn't you tell me?"

"Because it wasn't important at the time. However... with this new information it might be something to concern ourselves with." Ayeika answered. Glancing over at her brother, he nodded his unspoken answer to her silent question. Turning to face the others, she asked, "Would you hand me the violin case back there?"

Cross leaned over the backseat, into the storage area of the van, and became confused when he saw two. "Which one?"

"The Amati one, please."

"Sure thing." Cross passed it up to Ayeika, and she popped the latches on the case. Inside, there was no violin. Inside the case were several magazines filled with enchanted bullets, nicknamed 'the Gospel" as they were quite effective on the paranormal, especially demons. Also housed within the case was a massive handgun, the kind that didn't just leave a hole, but also blew chunks out of the target when hit. Along side the handgun were several sonic grenades, again designed to affect the paranormal, though without injuring those here on the mortal coil.

Looking on, the other's eyes grew wide with surprise. Trin was the first to voice what the others were thinking. "How the hell did you get that kind of artillery?"

"You'd be surprised what money can buy," Lucas replied in his sister's stead. He snorted in contempt for those who could be persuaded by money. "My sister simply offered the cash and..." He smiled along with his sister, who leaned over to give the 'mock seduction look' and continued with "Well, it's not hard to imagine other things offered..."

Lucas was still barreling down the highway, and wasn't slowing down, either. "It's unfortunate that we carry around such things, but it's nessessary what with the things we've all encountered." his sister loaded the hand gun, and cocked it. She readied it, though hoped it wouldn't be nessessary, as did he.

"Zach.... Please forgive us. We know you don't like exterminating the ghosts and ghoulies right off the bat, but you should also know me and L:ucas are ALWAYS prepared."

Lucas sighed, his foot putting the pedal to the medal. Even if the artillary wasn't nessassary, the things he and his sister dealt with were no laughing matters. Both he and Ayeika had the scars to prove that the supernatural wasn't something to take for granted. But, even as conceited the role as he and his sister protrayed, they were not something the sibling would even dare guess prepared for whatever might attack them.

Lucas and Ayeika had both been caught off guard once, and nearly paid the ultimate price. They would not do so again. Edited by Inuyasha Fandom

Blu and Eun Jung struggled to keep the door open against the force of the Poltergeist, it's tug still quite considerable, despite it's attentions being focused on Ally.

"Ally, reach for my hands!" Cowboy called to her, extending his arms up, his plan being to outmuscle what was, for all intents and purposes, muscle-less. She strained her face, but her arms made no move. "Ally, now!"

"I'm trying!" She shouted back at him, her irritation getting the better of her.

"****." muttered Phil. "It's got a good grip on her."

"Then we'll have to get a better one." Cowboy maneuvered himself so that he had one leg on the floor of the SnowCat, the other up on the seat in front of him, to gain him better leverage. "Ally, I need you to relax, and do your best to make yourself limp."

"I'll uh... I'll do my best, in the circumstances." She replied, laughing nervously now.

"That's all I can ask."

Outside the SnowCat, Eun Jung was looking at Blu with some concern.

"Blu, you're white... Are you okay?" Blu was shivering and looking more than a little uncomfortable.

"It's got so much... rage! We are very very unwelcome here." Eun Jung didn't want to let on that she was a little alarmed at these words, so she did her best to comfort Blu.

"It'll be okay, really! It must be able to sense we mean it no harm... we're here to observe, that's all, nothing more. We'll be fine." She pulled one arm away from the door for a moment to pat the other girl on the back genially. "You'll see, it'll be okay."

Back inside, Cowboy had his hands wrapped firmly around Ally's ankles, and Phil had taken up a similar position, his hands around her wrists.

"Are you ready? We pull on three..."

"Oh no... I cannot see this turning out well..." Ally mumbled from her upright position.

"Shush it, darlin'. We're doing our damndest. Ready? One... two... THREE!" At the exact same moment Phil and Cowboy pulled, the mysterious force disappeared as quickly as it had come, gravity doing the work of pulling Ally down and Cowboy and Phil tumbling under the surprise of no resistance to their force. The floor of the SnowCat became a tangled sprawl of bodies.

"... Ouch." came Phil's voice from somewhere under Ally.

"...Er, sorry, guys... Thank you, though." Ally got up meekly and grabbed the extended hand of Eun Jung who helped her down and out of the SnowCat. After Cowboy and Phil untangled themselves, they followed suit. The five members stood outside of the vehicle now, Ally, Phil and Cowboy dusting themselves off and readjusting their heavy snow gear.

As soon as Ally got her bearings, she let her power loose for a moment, feeling the area. "It's clear." She confirmed what they all felt.

"For now," added Blu, who still looked no more comfortable."I think that was just a warning. It was making itself known to us."

"And we were making ourselves known to it. We'll be ready, next time." Phil replied. Cowboy nodded, but they all looked uneasy.

"Well, I suppose we better get going if we don't want to blindly grope our way back here in the dark." Cowboy tried to seem cheerful. "Come on y'all, move it." He herded them away from the vehicle, Ally in the lead using her ability to steer them in the direction of the rift.

They weren't far, now.

Eun Jung plodded alongside Blu, her mittened hands were jammed into her pockets for warmth, concentrating too hard on not freezing to be much good for conversation. They all were, really. The arctic wind was biting cold, and it nipped and stung any exposed flesh it could find. It was like another invisible enemy all together. The wind howled, whipping up more snow around them, assaulting their senses of sight and touch.

"Christ, Ally, we almost there?" Phil called out to her from the middle of the group, his voice nearly lost in the tempestuous gusts. Ally didn't turn around, only a slight nod indicated she'd even heard him at all. She was focused intently, feeling for the rift, calling out for it, waiting for it to call back. She stopped abruptly, and said nothing, waiting for the group to huddle around her.

"It's there," She indicated to a small ridge. "it lies there, over the ridge." She nodded. Blu also nodded, confirming what Ally had said with her own feelings. Phil clenched his fists inside his pockets but said nothing to hint at his own feelings of disquiet.

They all stood in silence. When nobody made a move to react or go, Eun Jung decided to take on the role of leader for a moment.

"Well, what are we waiting for?" Eun Jung grinned at them all, her voice light and positive as ever. "Let's go see what all the fuss is about." She turned her back to them and without waiting, started off over the ridge and toward the crack.

Blu shivered in the brutal cold. But it wasn't just the weather that made her unable to keep from shaking.

"I think that was just a warning. It was making itself known to us."

Why did she say that? She didn't want to have scared anyone. And the anomaly did seem to have backed off, for the moment. But... Her hand crept unconsciously around the pendant at her neck, numb gloved fingers closing tightly around it. Why hadn't she just said what she'd felt initially...?

Rage...

Hate.

The creature, whatever manifestation of poltergeist, spirit, or demon it was was certainly angry. But... it was more than just a simple standoff. More than just a show of power, or anger.

This thing was hungry. It wanted to hurt Ally. To hurt all of them. Such ferocious, malicious intent... Blu hadn't felt something so strong in a while. It felt... well, evil. She didn't really like to put the labels of "good" or "evil" on any creature, but. But.

"Hey, Blu," Ally nudged the girl. "Are you okay?" Blu hadn't moved since En Jung headed off towards the rift, as merrily as one might go to the grocery store.

Blu smiled a little, trying to put on a calm face. Calm in the face of danger. Cool mind, level head--

Death...

It was more of a touch - a sensation, than a voice. Blue's eyes grew slightly wide at the feeling, cold, tingling fear trickling up her spine. She still didn't have full control over her "powers"... it just came and went. But this feeling... was unmistakable. It shook her to the bone.

"Irissa!" Ally tried again, getting in front of the girl and leaning in, almost nose to chilly nose with her. "Earth to Blu!"

"What??" Blu shook herself, blinking and taking an unsteady step back from Ally. "I'm fine. I should be asking you that. You're the one who just got taken on the supernatural merry-go-round."

Ally made a face at the memory, then shook her head. "Just a bit sea -- er-- roof sick! I'm good as gold!"

"Hey," Phil called. "Are we gonna check this thing out, or stand chit chatting all day?"

"Oh," Blu looked down, her white booted feet almost invisible against the snowy terrain. If her cheeks weren't frozen, she might have blushed. "Sorry. I'm just... a little out of it. You're right. Standing here all day won't do anyone any good."

"Easy now," Cowboy looked back at them, one eye still on the advancing En Jung. "No need to rush in to things. We can't just stand here, but we got to keep our heads on straight." He looked at Blu a moment. "Everyone good?"

Blu nodded a little. "Good." she murmured. At least as good as it got.

But as they started to trudge after En Jung... she couldn't shake the permeating feeling. They were being watched. And the spectators weren't on their side. Edited by PseudoWhim

"Bingly! Bingly! Bing!"

Pedr could hear the phone ringing somewhere, the ringer the one he only used for text messages. Judging by the way that it was vibrating, it was rubbing up against something hard. He looked around the small, dark room. The only light was coming from the glow of the computer monitors. He could see the vauge forms of various links and connections he had never taken the time to organize and some robotics parts here and there.

He stood up from his spot on the floor surrounded but the computer monitors and went to his desk which, ironically, did not have a computer on it. Just some papers, books, and a couple of random things he had jotted down. Not like he needed to take notes on anything; he just liked how it made him seem more normal.

After shuffling around the desk for a few minutes, he found what he was looking for: his cell phone.
He opened up the text message and read it.

"Cachi." Pedr ran his fingers through his white hair and looked around the room for his shoes. When he found them, he pulled them on haphazardly. He grabbed his shoulder bag and right before he left out the door, he grabbed some money that was lying on top of the small table by the door. He hoped it was enough to buy a ton of pizza.

-----

After arriving at PIT HQ, arms loaded with pizza, Pedr's heart sank to see that no one was there.

"Stupid phone!" He grumbled as he threw his phone against the wall. Normally, he hated to abuse technology, but his phone had a nasty habit of delating text messages and not recieving calls, especially at the most inappropriate times.

He left the pizzas on the meeting room table and headed out to his "Man Cave", gumpy at having missed the find of the meeting. When he entered, the dozens of computer monitors that had been asleep whirled to life. Something about that made him smile.

He sat in his chair and pulled up the GPS locator. He had tagged certain equipment that the team used frequently and could even tell who was using it with the program that he had written. He was surprised to see half the team in Antartica.

"What would they be doing all the way out there?" He thought.

The other half of the team was heading out from Zach's apartment. Well, not exactly heading out. They must have been traveling for a good half hour to an hour.

He weighed his options. He could either stay in HQ and support both teams from there, or head out to join the others wherever they were going.

One thing was for certain. He sure as hell wasn't going to Antartica.

Phil followed Eun Jung over the ridge, the rest of the team clambering up the snow drifts behind them. The going was made slightly easier by the lack of snow, which could become a blizzard in moments. Instead the sun was glaring overhead reflecting off the tundra, making Phil glad for his tinted goggles. Eun Jung scrambled up the ridge, somehow managing to be both clumsy and graceful as she did. Phil smiled to himself as they reached the top of the ridge and looked down.

"Well, that's disappointing," Eun Jung said, looking down into a deep but virtually featureless ravine below them. Wind blustered through the canyon, dragging snow from the walls and creating something of a blizzard down below, which luckily didn't carry up to their position. She giggled and little and turned to Phil, who stood transfixed, paralysed with fear, staring blankly down into the ravine.

"Phil? Phil, what is it?" she asked, beginning to panic as the rest of the team reached the top of the ridge. As they did, Blu seemed to freeze in her tracks as well, and Ally seemed hesitant.

"What happened to him?" asked Cowboy, rushing to Phil's side.

"He just looked down and froze, I don't know what he can see!" replied Eun Jung, worry etched over her face.

"What is it, Phil? What can you see?" asked Cowboy, shaking Phil by the shoulders.

"This...this is definitely not good..." he replied shakily. He took a deep breath and looked down again. A huge, shimmering silvery-blue crack hung in the air down in the ravine. In fact, it ran the entire length of the ravine and continued far past his own line of vision, a slight glow emanating from it. But it wasn't the presence of the crack itself which had stunned Phil, it was something else.

Ghosts. Hundreds, probably thousands of them, pouring out of the crack, humanoid and each with a slight blue glow, some floating gently from the point they emerged from the crack, others flying across the tundra with incredible speed and force. The ghosts were flying out of mid-air along the entire length of the crack, dozens coming through every minute. Phil stood, wanting to tear his eyes away from the incredible sight, but unable to move. Whether this was out of fear or some supernatural force holding him down, he wasn't sure.

"Sorry, buddy, this has to be done," said Cowboy, genuine regret in his voice as he pulled his arm back and punched his colleague square in the face. The force of the blow knocked Phil off his feet, snapping him out of whatever strange trance he had fallen into and simultaneously forcing blood to shoot out of both nostrils. He swore loudly, pressing a thick glove to his nose to try and stem the blood flow, and got to his feet.

"There's got to be a gentler way to do that," he complained, but patted Cowboy on the shoulder as he did, showing his grudging gratitude. Ally was kneeling on the floor, next to Blu as she knelt on the icy ground, her head in her hands.

"So much...anger..." she whispered, her voice small and quavering. Phil knelt down next to her, wiping the worst of the blood off his face with a glove which he then threw to the ground, and pressed his bare hand next to her face, lifting it gently so she could look into his eyes.

"Look at me," he said, his voice serious, none of the usual humour in his expression, "Keep looking. Blu, listen to me. They can't hurt you. They may be angry, they may be full of hate, but there's nothing they can do to you now, do you understand? I was the same as you when I first felt them, it almost broke me, but I realised that the dead have more to fear from us than we do from them. You have two choices, you can either let the rage and the hate consume you, or you can use it to prove that you're better than them. I know you, Blu, and you're stronger than these things. So, and I'll only say this once, SNAP OUT OF IT!" he yelled, startling her and bringing her back to the land of the living. She collapsed into him, and he held her head next to his chest as she cried, more from relief than from fear.

"What was it?" asked Cowboy softly. Phil gestured to Ally, who took hold of Blu so he could stand up and speak to Cowboy.

"The crack, it's down in that ravine," he replied, still a little shaky, "Cowboy, it's huge. I mean massive, I can't even see the end of it. And the ghosts. There's thousands of them, pouring out of it, pulling themselves through from the other side."

"Is that so bad?" asked Eun Jung, listening in, "I mean, there's loads of ghosts in the world anyway, what's the harm in a few more coming through?"

"It's not just the ghosts," replied Cowboy, "If they keep coming through at such a rate, there's every chance the crack's going to keep getting bigger and bigger."

"And then what?" asked Eun Jung, looking between the two men. Phil took a deep breath and told her his theory.

"If the crack gets bigger, it won't just be ghosts coming through. Bigger and more dangerous stuff will start coming through, until corporeal creatures can get through. And if they can get through, it's possible that our world and the spirit world could start bleeding into each other."

"And what would that cause?" Eun Jung asked, and Phil and Cowboy exchanged concerned looks.

"Hell on Earth. Literally."

They were too close for Allyâ??s senses. There was no safe place anymore. There was so much spiritual activity that every time she tried to reach out, her head would throb, but she still had to do her best as they drew closer to the crack. The ravine looked as though it wasnâ??t even supposed to be there. â??The crack looks like its pushing the land away from it.â?

â??If thatâ??s the case it just furthers my pointâ? Phil warned, â??The crack has a drastic influence on our world.â?

â??We need to stop this, our worlds are separated for a reason.â? Eun Jung made a lot of sense, but no one really knew what to do.

â??Ally, the spirit that attacked you is coming, I could tell he was not finishedâ?¦ we need to move.â? Bluâ??s warning got the the team on their toes.

Ally could stand a headache, but another joyride seemed like the last thing she wanted. She reached out to her surroundings. The pain was instantaneous, but more bearable now, â??Philâ?¦ look to your eight O'clock. Something is moving fast towards us.â? Phil nodded and faced in that direction. â??Cowboy, can you please keep me on the ground this time?â?

â??Iâ??ll give it my best miss Harper, but you wouldnâ??t be so easy to lift if you ate something once an a while.â? he jested, the team needed to be relaxed in order to combat this poltergeist. If they could keep relaxed the ghost would run out of energy. The most it could do then is hurl a snowball at them.

â??I have a safe weight for my height and age id like you to know! I may have even gained a pound from that pizza..." After saying this she immediately had to check her stomach with a quick pat to make sure it hadnâ??t ballooned on her when she wasnâ??t looking.

â??I know what your trying to do Cowboy, but talking about a girl's weight doesnâ??t help to keep her calm.â? Eun Jung stated, putting an arm around Ally. Cowboy thought of apologizing, but when he looked at Ally she stuck her tongue out . Instead he pushed his hat farther down his brow.

Phil motioned for attention using his right arm and fanning his fingers, â??Ally's chauffeur is about one minute away. Any plan before it shows up?â?

The group looked to Cowboy. "I am guessing this things not gonna take kindly to persuasion from Bluâ??s testimony,â? they all nodded, â??we form a sky divers circle. Ally and Blu, take my hand. Phil, you take Allyâ??s and Eun Jungâ??s. Bluâ?¦ grab on to Eun Jung.â??

Eun Jung had the last word before the Poltergeist was on them, â??Keep your cool no matter what, and donâ??t let go!â? Ally sighed as she felt her feet loose the luxury of solid ground (it had to be her, she thought). Phil shot her a confident smile. His face said everything was going to be fineâ?¦ until he too fell out of gravity's good graces.

â??Well this is unexpected.â? Phil stated calmly

â??Have you been losing weight Phil?â? Ally cracked.

Phil let out a laugh, but was answered with turbulence. When the shaking eased up he replied. â??We should really focus I thinkâ?¦ how is everyone holding up?â?

â??I would give you a thumbs up but I would have to let you go.â? Eun Jung stated.

â??We are all chipper down here. You hang tight up there.â? Cowboy reassured. This poltergeist didnâ??t seem to be getting any weaker, but he knew his team could outlast anything.

â??Guys, unless a ghost learned how to drive I think we might be getting some help.â? Phil could make out a Bombardier twelve person snow coach closing in on them.

â??Who could be out here with us?â? Blu questioned.

Cowboy caught a logo, â??The Paranormal World Navigatorsâ?¦ the team must have arrived here first.â? Cowboy answered. The Bombardier pulled to the side of Cowboy and Blu.

The car door opened and a white male in a trench coat shouted â??Everyone in! we are getting you out of here."

â??You donâ??t have to say it twice Matt,â? Cowboy beamed as they began moving at a slow crawl towards the snow coach.

â??Cowboy? Didnâ??t recognize you without the hat. Common and put some muscle into it!â? The poltergeist began shaking more furiously. The team held on but Eun Jung lost connection with the snowy ground. Blu was the first n the snow coach followed by Cowboy. The man with the trench coat, Matt, helped pull Eun Jung in but in the process she let Phil's hand slip. The chain of P.I.T. elites began making a horrible up and down wave, becoming a human sine/cosine graph.

â??Donâ??t you dare let him go miss Harper!â? Cowboy exclaimed now with the predicament of pulling two people inside.

â??I couldnâ??t if I wanted to partner, he would sooner take my arm off then let me go,â? she said painfully. Phil had now grasped Allyâ??s slender wrist with his free hand in a iron grip.

Matt shifted positions and grabbed on to the coat collar at the back of Allyâ??s neck â??Common in you little poker shark you.â?

â??What was that?â? Ally said as she was being pulled in.

â??Matt here is a powerful user of psychometry.â? Cowboy told her as they placed her safely inside and tended to Phil.

â??Howâ??s it hanging?â? Matt joked, taking one of Philâ??s hands, followed by Cowboy. They pulled him in while Blu shut the door closed â??Step on it Aleksander!â?

â??A lot better now thank you very much Mrâ?¦..â? Phil said relived. This wasnâ??t the most fun he had ever had.

â??Venon, but pleaseâ?¦ Matt works fine. â?? he sat down in the front row and buckled up then motioned for the others to do the same. Ally took a seat up front in the row next to Matt, while the others stayed back next to the door. â??Thatâ??s Aleksander Jay Gatsby, our wheel-man and power dampener, and the passenger seat is taken up by the lovely Hyun Jae Park, we call her Emily. Her intuition has saved us more than any detail I have caught.â?? Emily waved and Aleksander gave a friendly â??Yoâ? they all introduced themselves as they headed back to the P.W.N. headquarters.

Once they arrived they had stopped at the Snowcat and picked up their possessions, so they all changed socks and met up in the meeting hall. Cowboy and Matt were discussing their mission, making arrangements for the Snowcat to be relocated and repaired, as well as sending word to P.I.T. However when all the members joined the room, their attention shifted.

â??So I take it everyone saw the crack.â? Matt queried. The group slowly nodded affirmatively. â??Then I would say you completed the mission safelyâ?¦ you can report back now, but if you feel you have more business I suggest taking some of our supplies and personnel with you.â?

â??We knew Para-1 was out here, but I wasnâ??t informed McNamaraâ??s Aces were out here as well... Antarctica is a small world,â? Eun Jung added.

â??We werenâ??t aware of your arrival either. We were on the lookout for Nicki McNamara actually. The cocky bastard wanted to take a picture of the freaking thing!â? Aleksander slammed his fist on the table.

â??Well.. we have been searching for the last forty-eight hoursâ?¦ I would hate to fail on the first assignment I made as team captainâ?¦ but I donâ??t think heâ??s showing upâ?¦ though I am glad we kept searching as long as we did.â? Matt looked a down at his laptop. Burying his emotions into work as always.

Ally sat down next to him and gave him a peck on the cheek. â??I am glad you did too!â? He was a bit startled at first, but then sat up straight again.

â??Anyways if you do need to go back out there, we will help youâ?¦ but it is your call,â? Matt and his team left the room to the group. They all stood up and made a closer circle.

â??I never got a chance to thank you for pulling me down twice Cowboy.â? Ally said sincerely. Cowboy patted her back, a simple 'it was nothing' action.

â??Hey! I helped the first time!â? Phil interjected

â??I think we all know who was putting more force into itâ? Eun Jung speculated.

â??Psssh I am strong too! Iâ??d say I am right up there with Cowboy,â? Phil said playfully.

â??Sorry partner, but I recon I am on a tier of my own, in that department.â? he stretched his arm out motioning Ally to grab it. She hooked her fingers into a loose pull-up position and he raised her a good nine inches off the ground while flexing his bicep. He dangled her there for a moment then let her down. Cowboy felt like giving her a bit of fun, she deserved it since she was able to hold herself together even when trapped alone with that ghost. He had seen many rookies panic and give a poltergeist enough energy to take a whole building down. His whole team preformed exceptionally.

A Big smile was now in her face, You wanna try Phil?

â??I might be able to pick you up, but I might also feel like chucking you like the poltergeist!â? Phil stated in a false temper. They all laughed.for or a while, but soon enough it was back to business.

â??We have a decision to make.â? Blu began, â??we all know the risks of going back, and even with this help we may not have enough to deal with the task. What do you think?â?

Trin just shook her head and laughed to herself at Lucas' explanation of acquiring their weaponry.
She was going to take her vespa and follow after the van, but it was much easier to stick together with everyone else.
"Wait, everyone?" Trin thought to herself
She suddenly looked around the van and did a quick headcount. Then she counted the ones who were sent to Antartica. Like she thought, someone was missing. It was Pedr. Trin tried to keep track of the newer members but she got so caught up in the mission that she forgot all about him. She pulled out her cellphone and gave him a call.
"Come on, come on...Answer your phone, Pedr."
However, there was no answer so she left him a message.
"Hey Pedr, it's Trin. If you want to come meet us, I'll give you the address just in case. You also have permission to use my vespa. It's the pink one. Wait, why am I telling you the color? It's the only vespa there. Just be careful with it please! If you're staying at HQ though, text me back and let me know. Bye."
Trin hung up the phone and then texted Pedr the address, along with a little message that said.
"Save me some pizza please! ;-D"
Trin closed up her phone, but kept it out in case Pedr responded.
She never got car sick, but with the way Lucas was driving, her stomach kept telling her it might be a good idea. She fought it though and decided to make small talk. Trin looked over to Ayeika.
"So, Ayeika? How long has Lucas played the violin? I would ask him myself, but I think he's too busy trying not to kill all of us." Trin said, smirking at Lucas to show that she was teasing, even though he couldn't see her.
"I play myself, but my playing isn't as nearly as important to our missions. It's more of a hobby for me."

OOC: Okay, I got my first post in. I wanted to make it longer, but I'll let Elk decide if he comes with us or not. Edited by Lilt

Lucas smiled at Trin's question. "Trying not to kill you all?"

Cross paled, and Ayeika laughed as Lucas swung onto another freeway, this one headed directly to the town with the demonic possession. Lucas gunned the engine again, jetting down the highway. "For your question, Trin, I've been playing since I was a child."

"And I've been singing." Ayeika quipped. Reaching for the violin case, Ayeika's jovial smile turned evil. "Lucas, I beleive we have company."

Looking into the rear view mirror, Lucas couldn't see a thing, his team members made better doors than windows. However, he could hear the roar of a motorcycle, as well as see a red glow. "That's not normal..." He could hear Trin say.

Ayeika opened the violin case again, this time removing one of the sound grenades. "Red Eye." She stated. "Let's give him a challenge, shall we?"

"Let's."

Ayeika rolled her window down, and pulled the pin on the grenade. Waiting about two seconds, she tossed it behind the van. There were no cars on the highway, and the road was continually becoming worse and worse so she had no problems destroying some of the road, as now there was no risk what so ever of injuring innocent people.

The grenade blew, sending a huge plume of smoke and concrete into the air. The black motorcycle swerved, and raced up to the van. On closer inspection, there was no inclination of the motorcycle being anything but ordinary, aside from the eerie red glow surrounding it and the leather clad rider. They could see no facial features as his head was sheilded by a black helmet. Lucas stomped on the pedal again, though now began to recite words.

"Be there power in my wheels
Be there justice in my actions
Rue the day you challenged me."

A strange calm filled the van, and the violent shaking it was doing stopped as Lucas' spell went into effect. "Ayeika! Now!" He cried, and Ayeika leaned out of her window, tossing another grenade. It bounced off of the helmet, though there was no reaction as it exploded, enveloping the motorcyclist in thick smoke.

"GOT HIM!" Cross yelled, and the twins' expressions did not change. They simply looked on, and sighed when the motorcycle tore at them again. Ayeika pulled the handgun from the case, and recited her own spell.

"Let my aim be true,
That mine enemies be vanquished."

Ayeika aimed the gun, and began firing. She was hotting her target, though merely putting dents into the motorcycle.

"Please.... HIT THE MARK!" Blasting another round, the red headlight blew out, and the motorcyclist toppled over.

"Now we got him..." Ayeika said.

Lucas smiled, and began to slow down the van finally. " I guess he hadn't heard that speeding causes accidents...." Edited by Inuyasha Fandom

Pedr stuffed a handful of green grapes into his mouth. Turning away from the monitor that was showing his current music selection, which was soft, mellow music, he turned back to the GPS tracker he had for the team.

Those in Antartica must have been freezing their butts off because they were some way off from the base there, Para-1. With another monitor, he brought up the same map, except this one highlighted to show the levels of paranormal activity.

What he saw shocked him. The area around the Antartica team was absolutely alive with paranormal activity. It was fierce and fluxuating, reaching peaks and then dipping back down to a more stable level, but it was more activity than he had ever seen in his entire time at PIT put together.

Whatever the meeting had been about, it had to be something big.

He watched as the dots on the screen that represented the Antartica team began to move, fast.

"Must have hitched a ride on something." He thought to himself as popped a couple of more grapes into his mouth. He checked his phone, which he had retrived from where he had thrown it. The was a voicemail message from Trin, telling him about what that half of the team was doing. He also had a text message with the address of where they were going. His stupid phone hadn't notified him of either message or call.

He really needed an upgrade or service change.

That was just like Trin, always looking out for everyone else. She'd been one of the first people to talk to him at PIT. He'd been so nervous and awkward those first couple of weeks. Heck, he was still pretty awkward now. He'd settled into a work place at PIT, but not a social place.

There was really nothing Pedr could do alone at HQ, at least not now anyway.

He decided to take Trin up on her offer, although the thought of riding a pink vespa for a prolonged period of time wasn't very appealing.

He typed out a quick message on his phone to Trin, something simple about how he'd meet the team there but he, sadly, couldn't bring the pizza with him.

Pedr got up from his chair and stretched. He walked over to the blood circle that would take him to Zach's apartment. Secretly, he loved to travel through blood cirlces. The danger of it thrilled him, the never knowing if you would make it back. He wasn't a thrill seeker, but what was life without a little danger?

At Zach's apartment, he found the keys to Trin's vespa which were, lo and behold, pink as well. He put on the pink helmet, feeling very much like Kimberly Hart, the Pink Power Ranger, and set off to meet up with his teammates.

The road to the town grew more and more bumpy, as was the road obviously ill maintained. As they moved along, the trees and plants on either side of the road looked more and more sinister, eventually making a kind of canopy over the road, blocking out the dimming light of the sun. Taking a deep breath to steady his nerves, he listened to the others chatting, though maintained his concentration on the road. His relatively new van looked out of place here, and this seemed to be made all the more obvious with they passing a wrecked car, though with no one inside. The car appeared to have been there awhile, rust had completely corroded through the metal on the body, and vines had over taken the front.

"A message, do you think?" Ayeika asked, and turned to her brother. "I hope we don't have to buy a new van when this is all over with... We've gone through several these past few years."

Zach shrugged. "Not like you two have to worry about money... so why be concerned?"

Lucas smiled. "It's just wasteful, that's all. Money isn't everything, you know. But, it does have it's advantages."

"Speaking of money...." Cross chimed in, "You still owe me for that game of cards you lost. When are you going to pay up?"

"How about a nice dinner with me?" Ayeika replied, turning around to reveal an evil smile. "I promise I'll be gentle."

"You scare me." Cross eyeballed Ayeika, and glanced over to her brother. "And you too, Lucas."

"They are not scary..." Trin responded. "They're wild."

"Interesting way to see it..." Zach added in. Turning his attention up the road, he guestured to the clearing ahead. "Lucas, pull over up there for a minute. I have to piss."

"No probs. Anyone else have to go?" Zach slid the door open so he could step out and do his buisness.

"I am so not peeing in a can, if that's your answer for me." Trin said, looking unamused at potential jokes. "I can hold it."

"It doesn't matter." came Zach's voice. He was facing away from the van, looking off to the nearby north. "The town is just around the bend in the road."

"Strange...." Ayeika spoke, her eyes closed, she listening for anything. "No birds... no crickets.... no cars... no people. I don't hear anything." Mirroring Ayeika, the others also tried to hone in on any kind of noise, but instead could only hear dead silence as a thick grey fog rolled in. "That doesn't bode well." Cross muttered.

Returning to the van, Lucas again put it into motion. The trees thinned out, and they found themself driving down what appeared to be the main strip. Looking around, there were no people, no dogs, no cats, and no birds. The fog wasn't letting them see more than twenty feet in front of their faces, the buildings looming up to become massive shadows fading into the fog. The street lights blazed, blinking the different colors, a strange reminder that they weren't in any kind of dream. Parking the van in the parking lot of an empty diner, they all piled out into the foggy air.

The air was chilly, much cooler than it had been outside the town. Ayeika moved to her brother, and handed him his violin case, keeping the other case in her own hand. A distant noise made them turn their heads, though they could hear nothing else.

"That... wasn't a zombie, was it?" Cross questioned, looking a little pale.

"You play too many video games." Ayeika snorted, and began to walk. "Think it'll be okay to leave the van here?"

Lucas sighed. "It's not like anywhere in town will be safer than any other place..." Looking back at the van, he sighed. "My insurance premiums are probably going to go up AGAIN... Let's just go. Maybe we can find someone here..."

Walking up to the diner, they could all see the lights on, and it was one of the few buildings lit up. Across the street, a hotel loomed into the sky, but there was no signs of life other than in the lobby, and even then there were no visible people. On entering the diner, they all heard a female voice say, "Be right with you!" Looking around, it was obvious no one had set foot in this place in some time. Dust caked all of the tables, chairs, display cases, cups, plates, menus and silverware. The paper napkins had all yellowed with age, and the brightly colored tableclothes had faded. A cold shiver went down the twins' spines, And this was paired with an icy feeling in their stomachs.

"This... isn't right..." Zach uttered what they all were thinking. Trin inched to the bar, and wiped a thick coating of dust from the stool, and looked into one of the display cases at the fake food, which still looked disturbingly tasty, even though of course it was made from various kinds of gels and other such things.

"Where is everyone?" She asked. "Hello? Can we see someone to help us order?" Silence greeted her, and the power went out. "Great..." she muttered. "a smart ass."

Lucas and Ayeika fumbled through the dark, getting outside in a hurry. Being caught in the dark in a confined space wasn't something that appealed to any of them. From down the street, the echo of a child's laughter rang out, and in the dim light, the street lights began to flicker on, though didn't provide much help.

"Looks like things are becoming more active...." Trin laughed nervously. "I think you twins will get your fun."

"That suits us just fine." The twins turned to face the rest of their little team, and wore matching grins on their faces. All in all, it wasn't all that reassuring, when the twins wore that particular smile, bad things happened. Ayeika's hand rose to her neck to grasp her mother's locket before asking. "Zach, where's this house? And who reported this old lady's possession? Judging from how this town looks, no one's lived here for a long time. We might have just waltzed into a trap."

"You're right... but now that we're here, we might as well deal with it. The house should be a few blocks down the street from the hotel. Let's go."

Moving along, they looked into the windows of the hotel, and eveything was the same as it had been in the diner. Continueing along, they could all see the disturbing qualities of the town. Some lawns of the homes were manicured, and others not. Some cars looked to be only a few years old, while others were ancient. Passing a park, they all spotted the swings moving, as if a child had just hopped off. Rust covered vast portions of metal, and a child's tricycle lied in the street, bent beyond repair. What appeared to be tire tracks led right at the child's toy, and mere feet from it, a large brown stain on the cracked and weed strewn pavement. It was all too obvious what was meant to be derived from the sight, and it made Ayeika's stomach churn.

"I hope that's just a message... and not what I think might have happened...." Trin said.

"Ugh... me too." Lucas added.

A small humming sound came to their ears, the 'put-put' of a high powered motor scooter. Turning around, they saw the bright pink of the infamous Vespa. Pedr was coming down the road, and he stopped and parked the scooter. "Miss me folks?"

"Not really." Ayeika said jokingly."So why didn't you message or call us you were coming behind us here?" Lucas chimed in with his laughter, seeing Pedr taking off the pink helmet. "Pink suits you so well..."

"I did. But I sent it to Trin's phone. And thanks, Lucas. Why don't you try to ride it?"

"I have a Mercedes and a Porche. Why would I?"

Looking down and pulling out her cell, Trin frowned. "I never got any message...."

Gritting his teeth, Pedr took out his own phone. "Stupid... little.... cock... fucker..."

"Anyway... we can deal with that later. We've got more pressing issues to deal with. Let's get a move on." Zach was taking charge again, ushering them on on their little trip. Continueing on, they were all caught off guard by the very real sound of a motor vehicle... a big one. Soon, they came upon the school, with a bus parked in front of it, the engine still running, lights and radio on. The bus itself however was again caked in rust with flat tires.

"That's not creepy... no not all..." Cross stared at the bus, and they all jumped when it started to move, it's massive diesel engine sounding like it was gutterally ripping itself apart with the horrible condition it had to be in. It rumbled at them, picking up speed. They all jumped out of the way as it smashed into a house behind them, the engine conking out and the lights dying. "That was way too close. Let's hurry!" Zach yelled.

Moving along the sidewalk, they darted for the house. "There! 219 West Elm!"

"I better not be meeting Freddy Kruger in there!" Trin shouted as they ran up to the porch. Edited by Inuyasha Fandom

Cross could feel his blood pumping as the team darted up the porch and away from their almost demise. Along with everyone else he crowded around the door, knowing that whatever was inside would probably be ten times worse than haunted buses, but wanting to get in nonetheless. Zach rapped on the door rapidly, still trying to keep up business formalities despite the situation.

â??Hello! Anyone home?" he called out. Ayeika and Lucas looked at him incredulously.

â??Are you serious? I donâ??t think theyâ??ll mind,â? they cried out in unison, simultaneously pushing past Zach and pouring into the house. Everybody else followed without hesitation past the somewhat irritated Zach, although Cross did mutter an apology and flash a smile as he ran past Zach. Unfortunately, as soon as he had entered, his whole body exploded with agony. He cried out in surprise and crashed to the ground.

â??Cross!â? he heard Trin yell over the ringing in his ears. â??Cross whatâ??s wrong?â?

â??We shouldnâ??t be here. We shouldnâ??t be here. We shouldnâ??t be here.â? Was all Cross could mutter over and over again. He could barely feel the fear and worry of his teammates over the demonâ??s overwhelming presenceâ??it was burning through every bone in his body. Simply from sensing its emotions Cross knew that it was definitively a factor in the sorry state of affairs the rest of the town was seeing. What was worse, or rather, what was weirder, was that Cross has simply expected blistering, relentless anger, but that wasnâ??t the only emotion the demon was feeling. It had just become happy. Happy because they had arrived.

â??Daminit Cross! This is no time to be broken!â? Ayeikaâ??s voice tore into his thoughts again. Cross suddenly felt a wave of warmthâ??humor and concernâ??that helped him to cut through the demonâ??s hold and return to his sentences. His vision came back to him slowly, but he could make out the shapes of his allies standing over him. Pedr eyed him worriedly and spoke up.

â??You alright buddy? Took a pretty bad fall there.â? Another wave of nervous humor washed over him. He couldnâ??t help but chuckle, now entirely in control again. Zach extended his hand out, and Cross grabbed it readily. Back on his feet, Cross dusted himself off and gave everyone a thumbs up.

â??Well that was fun.â? Everyone chuckled again, although Cross could still feel the noticeably uneasy air in the room. Lucas placed his hand on Crossâ?? shoulder comfortingly.

â??What happened?â? Everybody looked at Cross anxiously.

â??Itâ??s belligerent, itâ??s responsible for the state of the town, it knows weâ??re here and it is surprisingly happy that we are here. At least thatâ??s what I managed to gather before Ayeika started flirting with me,â? another chuckle from the group, â??I mean seriously Ayeika, first you ask me out on a date, and now this, I think youâ??re moving a bit fast, donâ??t you?â? As soon as his sentence was done Ayeika put on a sinisterly sweet smile.

"Don't flatter yourself. Although if chains and whips are your thing I'd be glad to make you criss-Cross-ed." Cross shuddered violently, and the warm feeling in his chest was replaced with the familiar frosty fear he got whenever the twins were around and enjoying themselves. Zach rolled his eyes at the whole situation and went back into his business like mindset, quickly looking over the house.

â??Based on that information, our lives are already in danger, and thus our primary objective is to find the demon as quickly as possible. Traveling in a group would be safer, but we need to find it immediately, so letâ??s split up into two groups. Pedr and Trin with me upstairs, Ayeika and Lucas accompany Cross.â? Cross gave a nervous look to Ayeika and Lucas, who were both grinning deviously at him. He shifted his eyes around for a second and grinned worriedly. Zach continued talking.

â??Whoever finds the Demon first call out to the others.â? Everyone nodded and split ways. Ayeika and Lucas both grabbed one of Crossâ?? arms and dragged him down a nearby hallway. Cross shuddered slightly, but sauntered along nevertheless. Despite having Ayeika and Lucasâ??s â??positiveâ? emotions keeping him steady, he couldnâ??t shake the demonâ??s anger. It was amazing, all of that anger, all of that rage pent up in one being. Most of all he couldnâ??t shake one nagging questionâ?? what did it want with us? He inhaled and exhaled deeply, regaining his calm. Ayeika and Lucas both looked at Cross and tightened their grip.

â??You alright?â? Lucas said cautiously. Ayeika shook Cross a bit before speaking up.

â??Are we going to have to scare you back into working order?â? Cross pursed his lips, attempting not to laugh, and took his arms back from the twins.

â??Donâ??t worry you two. Iâ??d rather walk on my own is all. But thank you.â? He took a step forward and immediately teetered again, reaching out to the wall to balance himself. He grinned back at the twins before they could get close to him.

â??Donâ??t worry. Iâ??m a..o..kâ?¦â? His sentence trailed off as he noticed the odd substance coating his hand. It only took a moment for him to realize what it was, and his eyes widened with shock.

â??Blood.â? He whispered, his eyes trailing down the hallway. His heart skipped a beat at the sight. As if in a trance he wordlessly walked away from Ayeika and Lucas, who were both extremely confused. They followed behind closely, whispering Crossâ?? name to get his attention. Unfortunately he couldnâ??t hear them anymore. He knew this place. There was no possible way he could be back in that place, yet here he was staring down the hallway of his house, his fatherâ??s blood on the walls again. Perhapsâ?¦

â??Cross, where are you going?â? Lucas said quickly. The twins were looking down the empty hallway, trying to figure out what had caught his attention. They walked up to Crossâ?? side, trying to keep him from entering into the bathroom the hall led to, but before they could say anything, the two open doors on both sides of the bathroom caught their attention. Simultaneously, all three stepped away from one another and into the room in front of them, drawn in by some image straight from their nightmares.

OOC: I hope this is alright with everyone. Since I didn't know when White was going to post, I wanted to leave it open for us to possibly have experiences on our own, or for White to just skip those experiences altogether and get on with the story. As Zach walked upstairs with Trin and Pedr he couldn't help shake the feeling that splitting up might've been a bad idea. While they would potentially find the demon sooner, it was in Zach's experience that demons find you. That being said he had the best of the best on his team and he found confidence in that. Walking up the old dusty stairs, Trin noticed something odd.

"Okay, before we reach the top of these steps." she started. Zach and Pedr both stopped just before the last step, staring blanky at her. "All of the pictures in this house... They're all faceless." she said pointing to one on the wall beside them.

"What?!" Zach said. Before he could explain to the other two what that meant it was too late. The picture hanging over the staircase that Trin initially noticed suddenly fell off the wall and smashed on the ground.

"Up the stairs!" Zach yelled. The three of them darted up the staircase and down the hallway. They took a sharp right at a bedroom and Zach slammed the door behind them, locking it. The moment he let go of the locked door, the knob began shaking furiously as if someone was trying to open it from the other side.

"Faceless pictures..." Zach muttered.

"What is it?" asked Pedr. "Sign of a demon?" Zach gave Pedr a grave stare.

"Just one specifically." Zack swallowed the lump in his throat. "Beelzebub." The moment Zach muttered the name, the door knob immediately stopped shaking. There was a silent pause before being interrupted by a loud and obnoxiously maniacal cackle. The laugh progressively got louder and louder, to the point where the three investigators could take it no more. Hands clamped over his ears, Pedr went to unlock the door.

"NO!" Zach shouted reaching out to stop him, but it was too late. The door swung open violently sending Pedr flying back into the far wall of the room. He slid to the ground conscious but wounded. Another silent moment filled the room, giving Zach a moment to think clearly.

"He must have gone to finish off the others, we need to go help!" said Zach. Trin shot Pedr a worried look as he was still sitting against the back wall, clenching his neck.

"I'll be fine," Pedr grinned wickedly as he created a salt circle around him. "This should be enough protection to last until you guys come back with the rest of the group." The other two nodded and raced out of the bedroom. Zach noted how much the house had already changed. Blood, vomit and black ooze spattered the walls all over, rips and claw scrapes tore the old wallpaper apart and it now seemed like there was a portrait of a faceless person at every step.

He definitely put a lot of effort into making this house seem nicer than it was originally. he thought. Arriving at the top of the staircase Trin and Zach looked at each other wearily.

"I hate demons." said Trin. Standing at the top of what used to be a 20 step staircase a spiraling stair case now stretched down into complete darkness. They could not see the bottom floor whatsover, and looking behind them they found the hallway had completely stretched away into the black as well.

"Jump." Zach said. Trin looked at him, shocked.

"What?! Are you crazy? You jump!" she challenged. Zach pushed his glasses back to the top of his nose with his index finger and took a deep breath.

"The trick to escaping demonic illusions like this." he explained. "Is to do the unexpected. Whatever path is the least obvious is the way out." and with that Zach ignored the staircase and jumped right over the side railing. Trin watched in horror as he disappeared into the shadows.

"Zachary!" she screamed, hand stretched forward.

Spiritual Guidance

Zachary... Zachary...

Wh-what? Zach floated weightlessly in total blackness. A voice echoed through his head.

Zach, you and your team have done an exceptional job over the past few centuries.

Centuries? What? What are you talking about? Who are you?! Suddenly the black turned to pure white and a spirit manifested before Zach's very eyes. It was a young boy who seemed to be around the age of 12 with bright blonde hair and piercing green eyes.

My name is Michael. I was once an investigator like yourself years and years ago.

You're just a boy... Zach noted. The spirit smiled.

Indeed, my human form is a young boy. But I've existed for nearly 600 years in the spirit realm. 300 of which I've watched your team battle demons and ghosts alike.

Three hundred years...? I think you've got us confused with-- the spirit interrupted Zach.

Nay, you are the Zachary Cherub I've been watching. You must realize that one year in the human world does not equal one in the spirit realm. I do not know the exact conversion, but that does not matter. I'm here to aid you. a sense of calm swept over Zach as he hadn't been sure wether or not this was another of the demon's tricks.

Zachary, this is a turning point in paranormal activity on Earth. There is no stopping that crack from spreading. It will open, the other side has assured it. You must do battle with the worst of the worst if you want to save your world as you know it. And I want to help you. the spirit paused to let Zach take that in. He'd already known about the crack but hearing that there was no closing it was a bit disheartening.

There are other spirits like myself, who have found members of your group that they've watched, respect, and feel a connection too. We wish to help your team. Unfortunately, we cannot just appear before you in spirit form whenever and wherever we feel like it. We've devised a plan that will let us escape our spiritual forms and enter the physical world to help, but it will be in the form of small animals. Our powers have dwindled greatly in the spirit realm and we cannot take human form.

This is where you must help us. the spirit opened his palm revealing a handful of colored stones. These stones contain the other dormant spirits who want to help. Tell your companions to find an animal and to release the spirit into the animal as soon as they can. The stones appeared in Zach's palm and he stared blankly.

Wait, how do I know which coloured stone goes to whom? Zach asked. The spirit grinned.

They will know which belongs to them. It will seem right.

Zach sighed.

What about this demon? Can you help us escape?

Use your stone, find me an animal. Then I will help you. My time is up. and with that the spirit vanished. The white that had enveloped Zach turned back to darkness and he continued to fall. He hit the ground hard and winced his eyes open. The black had faded and Trin stood over him with a worried expression. Cross and the twins were there as well. Zach rubbed his head and sat up.

"What happened?" he asked. Trin put her hands on her hips.

"Well, you just jumped over the side of the railing like an imbecile and soon after the illusion faded. Apparently these guys were trapped in some sort of illusion/nightmare of their own and you managed to break it." Trin frowned at the blood dripping from Zach's forehead.

"I don't think that's all he broke." Cross noted. Zach smiled and stood to his feet.

"I think I'm fine. It only feels like I fell those 20 steps and not the thousands it seemed like. Let's go get Pedr and get the hell out of here. Forget the demon." and just with that the demons loud and obnoxious voice rang throughout the house.

"BAHAHA! Forget the demon, he says! Easier said than done my friend!" he yelled. Suddenly all the windows and doors in the house slammed shut. Furniture and loose wooden planks lunged themselves at the doors and windows, blocking them off even more. The team raced up the stairs to where Pedr stayed. As they arrived he was just standing to his feet. Unfortunately when they walked into the bedroom, the door slammed behind them.

"****." Cross muttered. The twins grinned wickedly, knowing they'd get a chance to fight for sure now. It was a stand off.

"Back away from the door." Zach said. The team stood at the back wall and watched as dark energy poured into the room from underneath the door. The black smoke-like energy swirled a bit in the middle before taking the shape of a humanoid. However when the smoke dissipated they could tell this was no human.

A pale gray demon with large black wings and two spiraling horns stared them down with his red eyes. The demon concentrated the black energy that was swirling around his legs into the palm of his hand. Just before charging forward with his attack he exclaimed.

"It's been a while since I've tasted human flesh!"

Don't worry about the pets right now, just wanted to throw that in there. There aren't any animals in this town anyway. Let's kill this demon! Remember this is Beelzebub, one of the devils right hand man so even if we wound him really badly, have him escape with an inch of his life or so he can come back for revenge or something, haha. Edited by White

Okay, first off, SO sorry for the late post, my comp gained an unwelcome virus that lets me open nothing, but I'm borrowing a friends laptop til it is back to normal. I'll catch up as best as I can.

Blayze recalled everything that Zach had said on the van ride over to his apartment, she leaned her head against the window and just let things mull over in her mind. A crack in the void as it were, a space for them to get through; this is what she had dreamt those few nights ago but had held it back hoping it was just a fluke...a mistake. But as she watched the trees go by in the town and felt her eyes getting heavy, she fought it best she could; she hated to sleep during the day...that was when the worst dreams came to her. But as she leaned on the window and let the music the others had chosen, and the manic driving to couple with it she was lulled miraculously to sleep. The others didn't bother waking her under Zach's orders to let her sleep no matter what, as he put it, you never know what she might dream of. This dream was not one that she was happy for, it came with darkness, darkness and unwelcome visions of her friends being killed. Trin being thrown into a wall, the audible sound of her spine breaking into pieces, the twins being thrown from a window only to land on a black steel fence and become skewered; their eyes blank and lifeless, Pedr in a circle of salt having to watch until his time when his barrier became broken and he too was slaughtered. She felt the scream bubbling in her throat as she watched Zach attacked by an ugly demon, the clawed hand piercing Zach's chest only to emerge through his back and dropping him lifeless to the ground, laughing and licking his blood from it's claws. The demons eyes met her's and flashed red, smiling an evil smile it pointed at her.
Your next girl...

"Bastard!"
Lurching forward in her seat Blayze inspected the empty van and looked through the window at the house they were parked infront of, she knew it instantly, the large bay window at the top being the very one she had seen the twins crash through. Letting out a silent curse she yanked a dagger from her boot and ran to the front door, she could feel chills creep up her arm as she neared the house and knew her friends were there. Reaching the door she tried the knob as was less than surprised to find she couldn't turn it, forcing her dagger into the jam of the door she ripped the wood and kicked open the door and froze. Standing before her friends was the very demon she saw in her dream not five minutes ago. Hesitating for a split second as she decided she didn't care if the dagger went through him or not as long as she got his attention, she threw it with all her might and felt satisfaction well up inside her as he growled and turned in her direction. Leaning on the door she closed her eyes and lit a cigarette, looking at Zach and blowing out a stream of smoke.
"Am I to late?"

A smile spread across the twins' identical faces. "Lucas... Let's do it."

"I agree. We owe him big."

Ayeika popped the latches, and grasped a string attached to all of the grenades remaining in the case. Yanking on it, she removed all of the pins from the remaining grenades, and tossed the case while simultaneously removing the massive handgun. The case slammed into the head of the massive demon, and Ayeika's smile became all that much more sinister. "Too bad it's not enough..."

The case exploded, enveloping the demon's head in smoke. His claws stretched, and a far more evil intent filled the room. "Little girl... Did you think I would succumb so easily?"

"I had hoped." Ayeika aimed her gun, though he was too fast. He moved with startling speed, causing Ayeika to lose her balance when she tried to dodge. Lucas delivered a high strung kick to the demon's face, at least so he'd forget about Ayeika. The dmon's head turned to Lucas, and slammed his fist into Lucas' side, sending him flying across the room. Trin and Zach were looking lost, though far from helpless. They raced over to Lucas, to help him up from the tangled heap he was lying in, consisting of a broken glass table and the shreds of his clothing.

Ayeika aimed her gun again, this time for the demon's foot. "Here's a hot foot you'll never forget." Shooting, she did hit her target, if only to be grasped bodily by the demon, he roaring in pain.

He began to put the squeeze on her, she screaming out in pain.

"YOU GET YOUR FILTHY PAWS OFF MY SISTER!" Lucas screamed, shrugging off the attempted aid of his teamates. Cross was racing up to the demon, jumping at it an, pounding away with his fists. Ayeika screamed again, dropping her handgun. It clattered loudly on the carpeted floor. Lucas ran head first at the demon, his anger causing him to be oblivious to anything around him. Using his strength, he jumped, placing his hands onto the shoulder's of Cross. Using Cross as leverage, Lucas flipped over him, his legs landing around the shoulders of the demon. Reaching around before the demon had a chance, Lucas jabbed his fingers into the right eye of the demon. "YOU BASTARD! LET HER GO!" Removing his hand, Lucas was oblivious to the fact his hand was now covered in thick black goop, the farthest thing from blood there could be.

Ayeika slipped to the floor, falling to her knees as the demon releasing her. The demon roared, reaching up to grab Lucas. Spotting it's attempt, he stomped his foot into the back of the head. Lucas was fast enough to avoid being skewered alive, but not fast enough to avoid his shirt being shredded. Lucas landed on his feet, And launched himself at his sister, enveloping his arms around her and rolling away to safety.

"Ayeika! Ayeika! Speak to me!" Lucas looked down at his sister's face, her eyes opening. "The fun's... just getting started." Ayeika smiled, and Lucas did as well. They both moved away, while the others sprung into action. The others noted all too well the horrible burns on Lucas' back as he moved his sister away through his ruined shirt. His team was too occupied to say anything at the moment about it, nor was Lucas giving them a chance. He rolled across the room, and sat his sister against the wall, unbuttoning her shirt. The demon was attacking his team, though the glint of the handgun caught his eyes as he inspected his sister's ribs. and collar bone. Finding nothing but some bruises, he let her cover up her bra again.

"Shall we?" Ayeika asked, knowing her brother was satisfied finally with her apparent health. "I want to have some more fun."

"Fine. But be careful."

"And what's the fun in that?" She replied.

"True enough. Let's do it." Lucas turned his attention back to the demon, who was still screaming in rage, his attacks missing his team, at least for now. Edited by Inuyasha Fandom

Phil stood on a small balcony that branched off from one of the rooms at PWN headquarters. He was still trying to shake off the sight of the crack, he had never seen that many ghosts in one place before, and he could only assume it was the start of something big. He pulled his jacket around him a little tighter as he watched his breath billow out of his mouth in great vaporous clouds.

"Penny for them?" asked Eun Jung, emerging from the sliding door and wrapping her arms around herself.

"It's nothing really. I just don't fully trust these guys. They've known something big is going down out here and they never made contact, never shared any intel with Para 1, let alone us or any of the other Paranormal teams anywhere. It stinks of something dodgy," he replied, talking business but secretly glad of the company Eun Jung was providing.

"I guess it's a little strange, I never thought of it like that. But maybe they're just secretive."

"You really are all about the bright side, arent you?" Phil asked with a smile.

"Is there any point in being miserable all the time?" she replied with a broad grin. Phil eventually cracked and grinned back at her, the moment of connection between friends interrupted by Cowboy rapping his knuckles smartly on the glass door behind them, then beckoning them inside. They crept back through the door, and were greeted by the entire PIT group sitting around the common area, Cowboy stood in the middle, addressing the whole team. The members of the PWN were noticeably absent.

"We're going back to the crack," he said, "If we can't close it, at the very least we can do a little more research on it before we head back. PWN say they'll take us part of the way, but they need to continue the search for Nicki McNamara. We have a better idea of what we're looking at now, so we can do some more detailed research. We move out in ten, make sure you're prepared. If there's anything you need before we head out, just come tell me." The team got to their feet and started milling around, preparing equipment and clothing for venturing back out into the wilderness. Phil approached Cowboy, who slapped him on the shoulder.

"No hard feelings about the punch, right buddy?" he asked.

"Oh, I'll get you back one of these days, pard'ner," he replied, adopting a faux Southern drawl on the last word, "But listen, do you have a magic marker? I could really use one."

"I don't have one on me," he replied, patting his pockets down, "But I can go get you one, ok?"

"Much appreciated."

***

Half an hour later, they were looking at the retreating PWN vehicle, close to the ravine, this time with a pile of equipment around them. Snow was coming down thicker and faster now, beginning to obscure the team's view, but they still had a couple of hours before they were totally swamped.

"We need to move quickly," shouted Cowboy, "We have to investigate the crack and take readings before we lose all visibility. Phil, Blu, get to the crack and guide the others to where it is!" Phil once more snapped off a quick salute before grabbing Blu gently but firmly by the arm and marching her over to the edge of the ravine. He looked down and saw the crack once more, the flow of ghosts and spirits as strong as ever, perhaps even stronger. It sent a shiver down his spine, but he swallowed the fear and got on with the job in hand.

"Come on, Blu," he said to his partner, shaky on her feet but standing her ground this time. She shuddered and moved a few steps further forward, before she froze and turned back to the tundra, her back on the ravine.

"What is it? Blu, what are you doing, the crack's this way!" he shouted, before she raised her arm and pointed into the tundra, past the rest of the team who were setting up bits of equipment. Phil followed the line of her arm, and saw Ally holding her head. Phil ran over to her, and grabbed her before she fell to the floor.

"Something's coming..." she said, quietly but firmly, and Phil hauled her to her feet and looked around them. As soon as he was sure she could stand on her own, he let go of her, looked into the tundra, and shouted:

"Where are you?" He spun around, taking in the sights all around him, until he saw a shimmering blue shape hurtling towards the team from the direction they had come. He braced himself, looking directly and unbinkingly at the shape as it grew and became more and more clear.

Eventually it came into view, and Phil saw it. The poltergeist, warped and hideous as it flew towards the team, ready to attack them again, screaming and howling. It slowed as it reached the team, twisting and writhing into the air above them, picking it's target carefully this time. The rest of the team looked around themselves warily as Phil stared directly at the malevolent spirit. He cracked the tendons in his neck, and grinned wickedly up at the ghost, ripping his gloves off as he did. The poltergeist spotted him, snarled and flew down towards him. He flicked up the palm of his left hand, a symbol scrawled across it in Magic Marker that was similar in shape to the blood circles they had used earlier, but apparently with more physical force, as the poltergeist slammed into his outstretched hand and stopped in mid air.

"God bless Sharpie," Phil said with a smirk, as the ghost circled off, apparently a little dazed, about to come round for another attack, "Come on, beastie." The poltergeist hurtled in again, aiming for Phil again. It managed to grab him by the wrist this time and drag him off his feet, the other team members just missing his ankles as they tried to grab him and pull him back down to earth.

As it rose into the air, Phil pulled his marked hand back and thrust it into the midst of the energy that made up the poltergeist. With a little added will, the touch exploded with what looked like blue flames inside the ghost, which howled and let go of the cocky young exorcist. He fell the ten feet or so to the ground, rolled with the impact and got back to his feet. He yanked a pouch from his belt, knowing he had a few minutes before the poltergeist collected itself and came around for another attack. He opened the pouch and tipped salt in an almost complete circle around him, perhaps two or three feet in diameter. Then he waited, watching the skies for the spirit.

Suddenly, it howled out of the sky, grabbing Ally once again as it soared towards him. As it reached the inside of the circle, Phil dropped a final pile of salt to complete the circle, and barrier of energy stopping the poltergeist from moving. The shock of being trapped caused the spirit to drop Ally, who crumpled harmlessly to the ground. The spirit howled as light began to emanate from the interior of the circle.

"What's he doing?" Blu asked Cowboy, having not seen one of Phil's exorcisms before.

"He doesn't do things normally," replied Eun Jung, chiming in, "Most exorcists try and trap the ghost in a circle before banishing them. Phil prefers to trap himself in the circle as well."

"Crazy bastard's like a ghostly cagefighter," said Cowboy with a grin that was half berating his team mate for his insanity, but half admiring of his chutzpah.

"Time for you to go, Casper," Phil shouted, ethereal wind joining the light coming from the circle and ruffling his hair as he ripped off his hat, "Get out of this world, it's not yours!"

"What can you do?" the spirit hissed, taunting him even as it's form was dissipating in the ethereal wind, "You are powerless to stop what is coming!"

"Powerless? I am known as He Who Walks Among Us!" shouted Phil, smiling as he saw the ghost's face fall. He took a small amount of pride in the nickname the spirit world had bestowed upon him.

"Doesn't that just scare the **** out of you?" he smirked, sending a little more of his will into the circle, and the poltergeist rapidly faded away.

"You are unprepared for the Other Side, Phil Tennant. Something in the darkness is waiting..." the ghost's voice hissed as it vanished, and the circle broke, the "cage" falling away and the salt blowing away harmlessly in the wind. Phil stood, panting a little. Poltergeists always took more effort to exorcise than standard ghosts, and they left him a little out of breath.

"Nice work, Phil," said Ally, clambering to her feet, "But what did it say to you?"

"Nothing important," he said, but the thought stuck with him.

Something in the darkness is waiting...

When Cowboy returned with the magic mark he got from the P.W.N main room, Phil took it and begun drawing a familiar circle, "I figure we may as well be prepared, encase something attacks before we can make it to the crack."

"Good thinking, but draw it quick, we still had better be on our way soon."
The team gathered what little belongings the had brought and stepped into the main room.

â??We have decided we want to take a second go at the crack Matt.â? Cowboy stated, the three PWN members stood. up

â??We figured as much,â? Emily said timidly. Grabbing her jacket.

â??So how far can you take us handsome?â? Ally playfully locked elbows with Matt..

â??I suppose we can drop you off where we found youâ?¦ but driving that close is always a risk, even with a great piece of machinery like our Bombardierâ?¦â? Matt said as he struggled to get his arm back.

â??I call shotgun then! I can scope out the surroundings to make sure we donâ??t have any more run -ins. I have been tossed enough already.â? Ally said, without releasing him.

â??If you are gonna do that I would stay away from shotgun. If youâ??re that close to me my power dampening will be too strong.â? Aleksander mentioned

â??Just sit up in the front row with Matt again. You donâ??t mind do you?â? Eun Jung interjected with a grin.

â??That sounds like a perfect idea.â? Ally boomed. A very heavy sigh came from Matt as she tugged him through the garage door.
The ride was uneventful up until the last mile. At that distance there was no avoiding spirits. â??Most of these ghosts seem harmless, but if the crack keeps extending there is no telling what can come out.â? Blu explained, â??we should look for the cause. â??

â??I really donâ??t like being so close to this thing.â? Phil said anxiously.

â??I know how you feel, but this is too big for us to ignore.â? Eun Jung rationalized, â??if we donâ??t find out as much as we can I donâ??t think it will stop.â?

â??From my research, cracks in the dimensions have happened before, but they are usually small, because larger creatures like demons can get out by using other, more simple means. Also the worlds donâ??t react well to one another, so the cracks usually repair themselves.â? Matt added.

â??I would wager something is forcing it open, and purposely making it worse. Some spirits just want to start more chaosâ? Cowboy said sullenly.

â??Thatâ??s a good possibilityâ? said Phil, â??but I wouldnâ??t put any money down yet. Certain spots have been known to border the other realm. The crack could be on one of those hot spots, and the preexisting condition of the land could be fueling a rip caused by something small.â?

â??We wonâ??t know for sure till we get there.â? Ally said briskly. â??luckily we are almost there. As much as I hate to leave the seat next to you empty we should get out. The ghosts are getting bigger, and we donâ??t want to get you stuck out here.â? Aleksander brought the bus to a stop. Everyone said their goodbyes, including an especially awkward hug from Ally to Matt when she slipped her phone number in his trench coat pocket. Everyone else kept it professional, and they all somehow knew it wasnâ??t the last time they would meet.

Cowboy was the last one out. â??Give McNamara a good punch for me when you find him. Good hunting.â? Matt nodded and closed the door. They sped off into the white wall of falling snow. There wasnâ??t much wind, but snow was falling in waves, making the trip to the ravine a difficult one.

"We need to move quickly," shouted Cowboy....

===================================================

After playing the role of human rag doll for the third time, Ally decided she was done with orange hair. Maybe it aroused ghostly fury. TThe reason behind the crack was shrouded in mystery, and there was no way they could return with the little information they had.

â??We need to be careful. They areâ?¦ frantic,â? Blu cautioned,. feeling many passerby spirits.

â??Lets just get this over with.â? Phil said in his normal cheery fashion. The poltergeists words weighed heavily on his mind.

They got to the edge of the ravine. Shadows stretched across the icy slopes, the dark corners seemed to twist, forming slight spirals. â??The crack is bending the light.â? Eun Jung stated in awe. The crack was not as clear to the others as it was to Phil, but it was slightly visible to the group. To them it looked like a giant curtain made of plastic wrap. You could clearly see it, as well as everything behind it.

â??We should be hesitant about getting much closer if we can suffice without it. The ravine is rather steep and if we need to make an exit we should do it on level ground. I can make a blood circle here while the wind is low, but it would be a fools errand to try on that slope.â? Cowboy deliberated.

Everyone except for Phil acknowledged him with agreement. Phil however spotted something in the crack. It was moving too fast to see. â??Something is coming out!â? the blur soared through the air covering the distance between the crack and the P.I.T. elites in seconds. He could see it heading for Blu. With no time to spare he leaped to push her out of the way.

They avoided it by inches, Eun Jung however was inconveniently located right behind them. The collision threw her backwards two yards and laying in the snow. She didnâ??t stay down for long. Without moving her legs she arose from the snow, as if she was lifted by someone pulling her head. Her eyes opened to reveal a lifeless white and a voice not her own came forward, loud and bold, â??we meet at last."
She smiledâ?¦

Ayeika stood, and her brother stood behind her, ready to spring into action. The demon's attention was on their allies, so they could all but move freely. The large handgun was lying directly under the demon, so close yet so far. Lucas' violin was much closer, and he and his sister moved to seize it. Ayeika chanted a spell as she did, one to giver her more strength, and enough to fight this monster. His teammates were busy trying to avoid it's blows, but they were doing rather well for themselves.

Ayeika froze, suddenly feeling the demon's power. "I can feel it.... Come.... You big thing." She raced at the demon, a smile on her face. Planting both of her feet firmly onto the floor, she jumped at the demon, smashing her leg into the side of its head. It reeled from the force of the blow, staggering from the sheer force. Ayeika landed on the floor, snatching up her gun. The demon lunged at her, though she raised her legs up to kick it in the groin and then seize one of its arms to throw it through the neibouring wall. Laughing, Ayeika stood, watching the dust clear. Lucas was now playing his violin, his sinister tune quite helpful to his team, as Ayeika began to sing. Her voice carried with it a mystical quality, it weaving about the room. Lucas played a fast paced melody, his eyes lighting up as he and his sister summoned forth their power. The demon clasped its head in between its clawed hands, screeching from the noise. Ayeika ceased singing, her pitch dying out. "COME ON!" She laughed. "Come at us, unless you're too afraid."

The demon charged, and Ayeika simply stepped back. The demon reached out, ready to tear through her chest and devour her heart. But, he slammed into an invisible wall, breaking the claws on his hand. Lucas hit the E-string, and the demon let loose with a blood curdling scream of pain from the sheer shrillness of the note. Unfortunately, his team had to cover their ears as well. Ayeika stepped out of the force of Lucas' sheild, And brought her high heeled boot down into its good eye.

The demon took a blind swipe at her, but she had already moved out of reach and back within the safety of Lucas' sheild.

"Wretches! Insolent trash! I will return to get you all!" The demon stumbled back, the wall behind him becoming as black as coals, and he vanishing within it. Ayeika snorted, disapponted that she hadn't gotten to strangle the demon with Lucas' violin strings. Edited by Inuyasha Fandom
