The worst is that in the anime, they play with 40 cards deck... Theorically, that is.

Taylor? As far as I remember, Russia remains the largest country in the world, However, Canada is no longer the coldest one, since Russia's southern parts are now independant countries :D

It must be noted about valkyrion that it was not actually a card in the show. Same for fusion monsters and (previous to yugi vs bandit keith) rituals. I've always considered the whole situation in the show to be much, much different than in real life: there's no comparison. I think the number of existing cards in the anime is about tenfolds what we have in real life, but the rarity is always much higher. This explain why the level 4 1800s are 1400-1600 in the show. Also, the slight rules modification, and complete inexistence of several cards (direct dammage cards, or mass monster removal are banned in Battle City, Snatch Steal, hand disruption...) makes the game compeltely different. "Staples" are almost inexistent in the show, or so much rarer that it's not worth calling them staples!
Originally posted by Altron Gundam Gravity Bind shouldn't be used that way. Even with your reasoning, Bind should be used in conjunction with Lava Golem, Mask of the Accursed and that direct damage deck. OR even in a Lily Focus Deck.
Then, do you have a better idea to protect your little level 3 in Clown Control decks? Gravity Bind doesn't have just one possibility, and Lava Golem doesn't either.
Nobody uses Dust Tornado. Too slow. Nobody uses Giant Turnade anymore, unless they're running with major m/t removal. Imperial Order is the only magic negation you should have unless you're running Magical Scientist, Devil Franken or an Jinzo rush deck. You don't have space for specified cards such as Jammer, Drain(which is lame), and Curse of Royal. Curse of Royal is also too specified for certain situations. .
Dust Tornado tend to be used by kids becasue a) it's on the show, b) It DOES it's work. And did you read my article? (Sorry for the rudeness, but, for god's sake, don't put arguments at the wrong places!) I'm talking about the specific case of a Clown Control deck that runs Curse of Royal, which IS a fantastic anti-m/t removal card. Giant Trunade may not be able to destroy the cards, but it WILL remove them from the field. If you're annoyed at the fact they were not discarded, play Card Destruction.
With the base form of a deck, relying on forms of cards that require a specific card in the depths of your deck is crazy. That means you'll have to pile up 3 of the card you need, say G-Bind, and support it with 3 Curse of Royal to keep up consistency. You've already taken up 6 spots that could be used for support magic semi-staples, or other staples.
I actually use 3 GB, 2 Dark Coffins and 2 Curse of Royal in the current form of the deck I made to test this theory, and it actually worked superbly so far. There's always a certain amount of tech you can do on a deck. Mind you, deck that focus around a specific card are certainly not rare, and decks focussing around GB are just the most common. [classic burners, weenie decks, vampire burners, drug burners, Exodia(a deck that usually relies a lot on GB for defense)...]
The Board Eraser trap, should be something run in a sideboard. Not everybody will come at you with direct damage. Destructing Ring and Cylinder are only 2/40 in a deck, due to Ring soon to be restricted.
The idea for the deck is to use cards that will deal you some dammages, so you can send it back screaming at your opponent! When I try out this deck, I'm planning for some tremendous fire along the lines too.
Unless you run a trample deck, a Meteor Strike(FMC) shouldn't be run in beatdown, because Spear Dragon should be taking that. Use the extra space to run a Scapegoat, Power of Union(United WE Stand), or whatever..
The Idea is to make 4000+ attack monster REALLY worth it, by keeping an opponent from defending himself with Meteor Crush. Power of Union is not necessary whan you can already have a 4400 ATK monster without the trouble of summoning 2 others.
Dice Pot? lol. Funny when you take 6000 damage. 6k is way too much to gamble.
Well, that's just the idea to use it: it makes barrel and board eraser worth it. 6k with a protection is way too good to pass.

Decks evolve, and I've always believed a once successfull deck type never completely disappear. When people says a specific deck type become obsolete because so and so, they more than often forget to consider new cards that have been released since that can modify these sayings. Two exemples: Suicide beatdown and Gravity Bind based decks. Suicide beatdown was quite popular back in december/january, however, the release of Legacy of Darkness and the infamous Magic Cylinder ended that, says you. I don't think so. First thing first, when you think of it, Magic Cylinder IS restricted, and basing the reject of a deck over a single and restricted card is the worst argument ever. Finding Dark Elves and Jirai Gumos is easy as hell, so you can now invest the monney you saved from Gemini Elves and Goblin Attack forces into Barrel Behind the Door and Trap of Board Eraser (though Spear Dragon does well in this archetype). Now you're protected against Ring of Destruction (yours and your opponent's) and Magic Cylinder! You can also throw a Life Absorbing machine in the mix to keep them elves and Solemn Judgement from wearing you down too much. Pile down some Fairy Meteor Crushes and Dice Pots and you've got yourself a quite mean deck. Gravity Bind is usually considered a pain to maintain for 6 reasons: Jinzo, Harpie's feather Duster, Heavy Storm and 3 MSTs. The main problem is most GB players don't want to get in the trouble of actually maintaining their Gravity Binds on the field! However, no less than 5 of these threats can be controlled by a single card, and it still leaves you with more m/t removal than your opponent! Curse of Royal is a simple rare continuous trap from Pharaonic Guardian that keep virtually all m/ts on the field to be destroyed! So it also protects you against annoying Dust Tornadoes! However, it doesn't keep you from using your 3 Giant Trunades and 3 Spiritualisms (Which won't be stopped by Imperial Order)... If you want to reach in the commoner cards, Timidity does the same job for 2 turns. Next to these are all these cards that makes your opponent think twice before playing a m/t removal: Dark Coffin, Blast with Chain, Black Pendant, Statue of the Wicked... And who could forget the oh-so-classic Magic Drain, Magic Jammer and Fake Trap? If you don't want to play a real Gravity Bind deck, switch to generic beatdown! IMHO is based on my very own opinion and should probably not be considered the universal truth.

Anime Yu-Gi-Oh! English CCG Article 1 - Best of Pharaonic Guardian
Circ replied to a topic in Otaku Central
I DO see all the power the Zaloog's effect is. It's is attack I'm complaining about. It's effect may be powerfull, but it will never affects it's attack. And frankly, I have better things to do with my MSTs than waiting for a Mirage of Nightmares. Like blowing that pesky face-down M/T into oblivion, maybe? As for Reckless Greed, NEVER out of Exodia, kinda like Card of Safe Return... (Well, at least I wouldn't play it outside of Exodia) -

Wow... That's really not much. I frankly expected a bit of things in the M/T field too. What should we think about Metamorphosis, Raigeki Break, Ring of Destruction, Mirage of Nightmare (A card I absolutely despise)? And frankly, Don Zaloog doesn't look that dangerous to me for 2 reasons: 1. He's a level 4 that can't attack under Gravity Bind (a field in which he's owned by WMH) 2. He's only a damned 1400 ATK monster!! Remember, it's because of low base attacks that Hayabusa Knight, Maha Vailo and White Magical Hat dropped from the metagame. Heck, even 1800s are not played anymore outside Necrofear and a few Kycoo here and there. All new staple and semi-staple monsters nowadays are monsters that are NOT meant to be kept on the field (Yata, X-Force, Two-Headed Behemoth) or have protective/swarming habilities (Marauding Captain). Only time will tell, I suppose. -
most certainly As for the Waboku ruling, you should lookthere

K(a)K-05.10.5 (Often nicknamed Kak, Zero-Five-Ten or Kakosios) had never asked more than being a faithful servent to the habitants of the city. After all, insanian robotics weren't that advanced yet. His logics remained just as performant as a human's, however, and these logics still didn't understand why he couldn't remember his normal tasks. It must have been the thwack from the Grand Tonks that had dammaged his memories. Sure, he did know Insanian history (He'd existed for much longer than most Insanians), but he wasn't scared by the Tonk. That would have been illogical. After all, he wasn't programmed for fear. He was a bit worried about his destruction, but that was another matter altogether. This thwack proved he was most evidently one of the few chosen to destroy the Tonk. He looked around himself, noticing a large plate or tray. Something into his ravaged memories told him it was his, by such he took it and walked away, looking for other Chosen. Now the question was: How in holly Insania do you tell someone is a chosen one??

Writing How Many of You Have Fanfiction.net Accounts?
Circ replied to Brood_Mayran's topic in Creative Works
I used to have a fanfiction net account, but all my poetry work was moved to FictionPress when they divided the site. -
he's cool! As for the gadget, they're very simple things (toothbrush/paste, fork, electric plug, ), but I don't mind.
-
(I've got an ok from Psycho) Name: K(a)K-05.10.5 (Kakosios for short) Race: Robot Appearance: Humanoid-type torso on a three-legged spherical body. Green all over, except some black decorations. Weapon: A 1-feet large circular silver tray normally used for serving champagne flutes Beginning Abilities: Boomerang Tray (throws the tray like a frisbee, after a circular movements, it goes back to him) Hammering Tray (repeatedly smack an object or someone with the side of the tray)

Yata IS a staple. Hand destruction is part of most decks nowadays anyway.
-
Good point here. The only true staple out of those 4 is Yata Garasu. All others are far from being staples, even in beatdown, but THAT is my opinion.
-
You're right, Maha is Super rare, if I correctly remember, while Hyozanryu and Giant Germs aresimple rares.

Assumptions of a Newbie (and other short stories)
Circ replied to Doukeshi's topic in General Discussion
I tend bot to notice newbies... Until they have a weird username or do a post I don't like (usually a a bad RPG post or a simply lame thread/post). I think rather highlier of newbies who know what they are doing, whatever the reason is (lurkers, used to boards etc.) -
www.abctoyme.com, I think, has the pics for all english cards but Ring of Destruction

X-man caracter I used back for the "Unofficial Otaku Survivor: The Freakshow", slightly updated. Name: Kevin Lefebvre Position: "Mini" Bouncer Description: 18 years old, grey eyes, black hair in a short ponytail Medium height, rather muscular, has a blue tribal tatoo spiraling on the left part of his face. Equipment: a 25 cm-wide chakram (sharp metal ring) Abilities: Trained in several martial arts, he can also attract and repell metal from any chosen parts of his body for various resulting effects. Bio of Char: After the Otaku Survivor ended, Kevin was sent tumbling through various planes of reality, and finally ended up crashing down in the City, since it is one of the few actually stable planes. Kevin still has his pet, a small talking fairy dragon by the name of Dreggron (which he just can't pronounce correctly). Kevin tend to be forgetfull and a bit lunatic, but he is also very loyal and reliable. No matter what it takes, he will always achieve the tasks asked out of him. He is still passionated about chemistry, and still tend to blow up his room in his experiences. However, te survivor left him

Mine would be Yata Garasu, and several Ultra Rares (2 Marauding Captains, Delinquent Duo, Forceful Sentry among others), not counting those that aren't in my deck. Yata-Garasu I had bought a (24) box of LoD hoping to get said Yata (or a sellable Lilly), but only got my second Marauding Captain and some rares (2nd Bottomless TH, 2nd Fusion Sword) for my deck from it, God, I was so pissed off... A week later, I was showcasing all these super-ultra and managed to trade Last Turn and Airknight Parshath for Yata-Garasu. I'm still very happy about it. 1rst Marauding Captain I had been looking out for that card for a long time, and there was only one around, however, when I pulled a Spear Dragon out of a pack, the guy immediately wanted it, so I finally my hungry hands on the guy. I also possessed a Blue Eyes Toon Dragon at a time, but I exchanged it for a couple or rares and commons. This ought to be my worst mistake ever in TCGing...

Animeintro states very well that both are actually different series. They were not produced by the same companies, nor did they even followed each other (the first one was produced in 1998, the other in 2000) or have same names (it's the reason why the serie is actually called Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters). From edo's page:
Is it true that there was a previous Yu-Gi-Oh! season? Why didn't they broadcast it here? No, there was not a previous season. There was a previous series. There are several reasons that the previous series was not released in English, among them being: both series are animated by different companies, the first series had a lack of good animation quality (it was somewhat low budget -- most of the money went to hire big-name voice actors), and it parallels the early part of the comic book. Now, that usually is a good thing, but the earlier portion of the comic was very violent. If the first series would have been brought over, it would have been sliced up beyond belief. However, one of the final reasons is that sake of money: companies like 4Kids Entertainment don't make much money off the series; they actually make their money off of derivitive works, such as toys. The earlier portion of the series didn't have much to offer in the sake of those items, which means a lack of derivitive renevue. The second series involves a card game, which means a lot of derivitive games.
My small point over the subject is when I first started getting interested in anime fanfiction, I saw so much yaoi it looked as if heterosexual relationships where exceptionnal among anime fans o.O Actually, it doesn't seems to matter whether or not there are "official" couples to Yaoi fans. Even married caracters have a roaming troup of rabid yaoi fan. 0.0

Urgh, that straw is longer than me and I still can't reach the bottom!

Sage, I think a thing like what you are suggesting could only be achieved by combining a forum-specific post count to the regular post count. I think title that take account of the forums we post most in would be cool in that way. (if you have more game post or artist post/threads etc.)

Writing Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix
Circ replied to Queen Asuka's topic in Creative Works
That's the cover I have. Frankly, I like it better than the other.
