1. common bot man we're already rolling, get with the progam. Oh and just incase you guys haven't noticed behave at this meeting, we only have three vamps... I edited my post KG, sorry I didn't see where you changed back the first time I read through. My fault...
2. Well I'm not a smoker so it doesn't affect me monetarily, but what does sort've agrevate me (at least in the states) is that they're raising these taxes so much. Which I guess I can't totally pin if they're trying to make people quit, or they think that only a small number will quit and that they will still make more money in taxes. Either way, America was founded with Tobacco being its "cash crop". So it's kind've saddening to see them start to drive people out, plus it is a choice and as long as I don't have to be in any enclosed buildings that people smoke in I don't mind at all. Not that I'm worried about second hand smoke killing me, it's more because the fact that I'm not a smoker makes the smell of smoke unappealing to me. So raising the tax a little is inevitable, but they're running away with it...
3. "Be careful Calil." Dean tried concentrating on his fight, but admitedly it was difficult. Lox charged again, Dean dodged bringing his blade in an arc and hacking a deap gash into the beast. With a roar the werewolf kicked Dean off, slamming him into a rock. With a smile he licked his wounds, and to Dean's amazement they healed right in front of him. "Guess little Karyn didn't tell you about my...'gift'. My saliva carries a special property that allows me to heal any wound inflicted to me or any other werewolf." As he talked Dean charged again, but he was ready. He dodged Dean's thursing blade and clamped his huge jaws down onto Dean's arm cutting deap. So deap that blood began pouring from the wound. "Oh no Dean...it looks like your losing blood. The more of yours you lose, the more of Sile's you lose. Bringing the moment closer, and closer...Holdren and I schemed for a long time about how to...infect somebody. How lovely it'll be to watch you tear your "team" to shreds. That is, if you survive this encounter with little Karyn's father." "Get out of my head!" Dean cried and charged Lox, at the last moment planting and switching directions. He charged Fabian, almost knocking Calil down in the process. He swung his sword straight for Fabian's middle. Only to be knocked back by a psychic blast. "Dean!" Dean saw Calil chargin Fabian, with Lox moving to intercept. Jumping to his feet Dean sprinted towards the werewolf, slamming a shoulder into him, knocking him to the ground. Dean heard his sword clatter, but didn't have time to grab it. He began slamming his fists into Lox's face, over and over again. Rage like he never felt brewing deap within him. As if he were nothing the werewolf tossed him off, Dean righted himself in the air and landed by his sword. Picking it up he charged again, the werewolf on his feet. Their claws met with a wicked clang, as if it was steel on steel. "I'm going to kill you, your bitch, and then whatever members of you team survive the fight." Lox growled. Dean could feel the bloodloss start to take it's toll, his arms begining to quiver... -------------------------------------------------------
4. I have an RP in the works and am going to need a pretty detailed map for it. Anybody interested in drawing something like this up for me please say so here.
5. hehe I guess we're all human, Matt possibly gained a life and could not continue. Or just decided he had more important things to do? Or he ate a ton of unpopped corn and walked into a sauna that was turned up to high and well...the rest would be history.
6. Yeah, she has some stuff going on (I talked to her via email awhile ago). It wasn't something she saw coming, and it was the same thing that was keeping her from posting.
7. wow he was pretty good for being 14. I do have to say the cain and moses bit was probably the funniest thing I've heard all morning (mind you it's 2 in the morning so it's still pretty young)
8. hmmm the tamagachi's of old were like the kids of old. Feed them, play with them, and clean up after them and they were fine...since kids these day's are more active do you need to by your tamagachi a cell phone to network with other tamagachi's? Or do they do their networking via facebook?
9. "I suggest your little friends leave Dean. Holdren isn't happy about them violating the rules of the game." It was then Dean thought of the werewolves who killed Sile, they were much more powerful then the first set the team faced. Plus one of them resembled Sile... Dean put his hand on Calil's and looked to Anya. "I'm so glad Dunan contacted you...I'm not sure what the hell his sister is doing here but you have to get him to finish her quick. Your real fight has just begun..." Anya didn't wait a second to make her way towards the cave entrance. "But Dean she'll be..." Dean shook his head, cutting her off. "They won't touch her, the same goes for you if you get out of here now." Dean could feel the pain in his voice, on his face as he spoke to her. "I'm not leaving you, I took way to long in tracking you down." "I'm not asking you too Calil, I only ask that you..." "You die now humans!" from nowhere Karyn's father lept from the shadows towards Calil and Dean. Barley escaping a certain death Calil lept back, and Dean rolled backwards and onto his feet, putting the wolf in between them. "Apparently your silly team was able to kill most of my family...but no matter." He put his head back and howled in the same manner Karyn had earlier..."We'll see how your team does when my real team attack now." "Oh god...Calil you have to get out of here and warn everybody. One of the wolves looks like Sile..." Dean was cut off as the wolf lept at him, barley dodging Dean drew his blade which was glowing again, that same glow as during the battle with Malachai. "I told you, I'm not leaving you Dean. You're too important to the team, to me." "Aww isn't that sweet, the little bitch loves her master." Karyn's father may have been brute force, but he wasn't stupid. He knew how to push buttons, and stir a fight. "Calil, i'm not asking. If Dunan is fighting his sister...for god knows what reason, the team won't be able to handle the others. They're smart, coordinated, and strong. They killed Sile without even trying..." Even though they were at odds about Dean for a long time, the pain of losing a teamate...a friend like Sile was evident on Calil's face. "Please go, I'll be fine. Holdren doesn't want to kill us, he wants us to live." Dean charged the huge wolf, ducked a claw and landed a kick to his stomach. He lurched a little, but not as much as Dean hoped. He recovered quickly and landed a back hand that sent Dean sailing back, luckily though he was able to correct himself and land on his feet beside Calil. Turning towards her he took her in his arms. "Calil I love you, but you're the only one who knows about Sile besides me. And you have to warn the others. I don't want to lose anybody else Calil...especially you." Dean pushed her away as they were seperated by Lox again. Dean didn't wait to see if she left, he rushed Karyn's father again with everything he had. Apparently this fight that Holdren had planned as a public showing was happening now, whether he wanted it too or not. "How does it feel to lie to the one you love Dean? Lie right to her face? You know the reason you wanted her to go, and with every second that draws closer to your normal "feeding" time you feel it more and more. I must admit that I didn't calculate you discovering the power the little bitches blood possessed, the angelic healing properties. But without that it's coming out isn't it Dean...my pet. It will emerge before this fight is over, and you will use it to kill Karyn's father. Who else will you kill? Will you be able to control it? What ever will you do?" It wasn't Holdren this time, it was Fabian invading his brain...what was happening? Dean only wished he had time to figure more out, but Karyn's father was coming at him again. ------------------------------------------------- As Syckle rushed Draco Azriel peered at the scence. He waited until he was almost upon him and lauched a fireball, striking Draco sending him realing. Another wolf emerged slowly making her way towards Draco and Karyn, a blue aura surrounding her... ------------------------------------------------ "Wow good job Dawner, you fought well." Sile emerged from the trees, making her way towards Dawner. He thoughts, emotions, everything perfectally emulating Sile... Behind Dawner, a thick black cloud of fog moved slowly in his direction...
10. "Can we go back yet?" Alucard protested playing with his sword, "don't even know why I bothered coming." "You came incase things went back remember?" Auron loved poking fun at Alucard, though he was as laid back as they came, trying to get him flustered was Auron's mission in life. "You don't actually think they'd try anything here do you Auron? They aren't stupid, well they all aren't stupid" Alexa chimed in, her joke drawing nervous laughter from the lower levels that were assembled incase of attack. "Just keep an ear open, if I need you I'll call." Auron smiled, turned and started up the stairs. The room at the top was the most ideal place for this meeting, two exits on oppisite sides. It was almost if the engineers who designed this, predicted this meeting. As Auron reached the top of the stairs, Terral, the large vampire who walked Tila in a moment before stood in the doorway blocking Auron's path. "Master Auron, it was agreed there would be no weapons allowed in the meeting hall." Terral was big, intelligent, one of the elders. Well he used to be before he was bested by both Auron and Alucard in a clan tournament. "Have you cut off the wolves claws and taped their jaws shut?" Auron asked, seemingly sincere. "N-No, why would we do such a thing?" "Well then they brought their weapons so I won't be relieved of mine." Auron pushed paste Terral and entered the room. It was evident why she would be the "leader" of this group, she carried herself in a certain way that demanded respect, it possibly could've been how cute she was, but Auron decided it was just something about her that said "I'll tear you a new one". Though she wasn't a large human, Auron guessed she was larged then life when she "phased". "You must be Miss Tila, I am Auron." Auron bowed, customs were a big part of the vampire lifestyle, unfortunetly not so much for the werewolves. "Blue eyes eh? That's odd for a vamp." "I may say the same, you don't see a lot of female leaders." Auron took a seat at a small square table at the center of the room. "Shall we get started?"
11. Well she pm'd me saying she had to abruptly leave OB... Though I did just see her on a moment ago...hmm
12. Nuttin' but Stringz I'd seen these guys on America's got Talent last year, but had no idea they had a CD out. I've only listened to a couple tracks so far but I am hooked.
13. "Aww it appears your clan is dwindling fast Lox...could it be your boasting is unfounded?" Dean could've swore Holdren would've been smiling...if he could've that is. "How many have I lost my lord?" Though obviously angry, he kept his cool. "Six down, I hope the rest of your clan puts up a better fight then they did. Dean's team is still whole and very much that way." Fabian chimed in, apparently the psychics had a link with the werewolves. "You can end this now. Call your dogs off Lox, you really don't want Karyn to get hurt do you? Or worse you don't want Karyn to kill anymore of your people do you? A little half-breed laying to waste your whole entire clan do you?" The comment about Karyn was enough to send the big beaset into a frenzy. He charged Dean, who until just a few moments before was still being held by Holdren. "Save it! You two will have you chance when this is over." Holdren cryed, but the big wolf was out for blood. He lunged at Dean who was already rolling to the side. Dean got to his feet drawing his blade, it appeared this "battle" Holdren wanted so dearly was going to happen now. Unfortunetly Dean didn't anticipate how fast the big beast was, and in an instant Lox was on him. Claws slashing, jaws trying to rip his throat out. It was all Dean could do to just steer clear of the vicious claws and jaw. Dean suddenly found an opening, but just as his sword was about to score a hit he was grabbed from behind. He wasn't just grabbed, but he was somehow thrust onto the battlefield. He was standing beside Sile who seemed to be alone, seperated from the others. "You shouldn't be out here alone girl." A female's voice sounded from behind Sile. Dean turned as she did, facing the foe. It was a girl, who looked very familiar...it was Sile's mother...Dean recognized her immediateally from the day they met...but she was dead. "Mom?" That was when everything around her went black. Dean watched in horror as she was surrounded by a thick black fog...which quickly turned into a werewolf. Sile hit the ground, chocking, coughing...She made it to one knee, and managed to loose a throwing dagger, only to have another female werewolf come out of nowhere. The dagger hit the ground, bouncing off a blue aura emiting from the female. "Wow Reaper, she sure is fighting that poison of yours. I'm amazed she's lasted this long." The blue girl said laughing. "Shut up Tamara, leave him alone. Dad said to make her suffer, and we've done that." That's when Dean noticed the odd werewolf that seemed to just appear behind Sile. Dean tried charging him, tried calling, but it was then he realized he was just watching...watching in horror as the wolfs fist punched straight through Sile. Leaving a gaping wound...her heart in his paw. "SILE!!!" Dean cried, but he couldn't make a noise in this world. It was all very real, and happening at that moment. But Dean could do nothing. "Holdren, end this. Get me out of here, I can't watch anymore..." "Ruby, take her form. Azriel go hide the body." That wolf must've been Karyn's brother, the second in command of the Lox clan. Everything dissolved, and Dean was back in the cave. Lox standing silently, staring at Dean with pure hate. "OH...looks like Dean's team finally is down a player." Holdren chuckled as he watched Dean on the ground...weaping...
14.
I often wonder if Botar is afraid of silence. If he replies to this message, does that make him needy?
That seems sort've cold blooded Allamorph...but I am curious as to what would happen if we'd put the afformentioned quote in every post...
15. OOC: For everybody who hasn't been checking the backstage. Nessaja has had to leave OB for an indefinite period of time. We're going to keep Sile until the end of this chapter and most likely start a new one (the chapter not the mission)... "You've taken good care of my team for me Dean. I must say I'm impressed" Dean recognized the voice, but couldn't place it. "Who's there?" Dean's eye's bounced from tree to tree. "Dean, are you okay?" Calil stared at him with a genuine look of concern on her face. "You shouldn't talk to yourself Dean, it'll make them question your leadership" "Don't you hear that? Where's that voice coming from?" Dean spun around scanning the tree line, the voice was so loud it had to be coming from barley inside the treeline. "Dean...I don't hear anything. And with these ears, believe me, I hear A LOT." Karyn chimed in looking at him "Aww now they've think you've lost it. Looks like it's time for you to be replaced. Why don't you come to Lox's hideout?" "No!" Dean could already feel himself lose control of his body. His arms started flailing as if he was a child with no motor skills. "Sorry about that, it's been awhile since I've drove like this...Okay there we have it. Tell the nice people good-bye Dean." Before Dean could utter a word his body stood itself up and took off running in the direction the wolf Karyn questioned pointed out. He couldn't believe the speed he was moving in, in a matter of seconds the shouting of his teamates became mere whispers. As he near'd the entrance to a rather large Cave. Dean tried putting up his hands in defense of the mass of wolves outside the cave entrance. He was still unable to control anything, and at once was in the cave running in the dark... Dean finally came to a stop in a large room. It was dimly lighted, but it was easy to make out the silouhetes of the other three in the room. One was the largest werewolf Dean had ever seen...the other two seemed human. But Dean was unable to make out their features. "Dean how lovely to finally meet the man who has been taking care of my Dawnie. You've done a fine job, he's quite the sorcerer." Dawner's dad, apparently. "Oh and we know you have that little bitch on stand-by. I don't know who she is, but if she's part of your team she's as good as dead" the wolf hissed, apparently that was Karyn's dad. "Well I wouldn't be so cocky, Dean and his team killed Malachai. Even with the enchancements to his sword I gave." The third voice... "Holdren..." Dean's voice trailed off. Apparently the scum used his telepathy to take over Dean's mind. "What is all this?" "Oh come now Dean, it should be pretty obvious by now. I know in all your reading, you've picked up on the prophecy of Satan's return. You and your team are fighting for the right to be the lead unit in the war, and bring about hell on earth...now doesn't that sound exciting?" "Why would you think we'd help you?" Dean decided that Holdren didn't look as human as he'd thought. He could actually see the bleach white of his skull as he stepped forward. It was evident that possessing a human for this many years yeilded consiquences to the host. "I just need the vessels. I have a horde of demons that will be taking the bodies of all those uncoroporative. and trust me, I've seen into the minds of your team. More then one of them would jump by yourside, no matter what path you choose." Dean knew he was smiling, but it was impossible to tell if the skull was smiling or not. "Mr. Lox. Tell your men the battle has begun. I suggest you prepare, because you and Mr. Remington here are going to fight after it's all said and done to see who will lead this unit." Dean gulped as the Wolf growled in amusement. Apparently he didn't see Dean as much of a challenge...hopefully he'd underestimate him enough. OOC: Okay boys and girls it's time or some serious werewolf pounding...or some team misfit pounding... There are 14 members of the Lox Clan that are charging towards the team. You're free to pair up, go solo, or cower and hide. These are going to be FIGHTS not one hit kills. I still don't have control overmyself so I can't use our pendents to send a message to Dawner, so you won't have much warning...good luck. Oh and share this, it's supposed to be fun. Here's an "outline" of the surrounding terrain... You guys are all currently in the forest, There is the town close by, a large field split in half by a gorge with a fierce river running through it. There is a rope bridge connecting the two halves of the field... Feel free to fight anywhere in any of those areas I mentioned. Like I said, this is meant to be a fun way for the story to come together. I'll be giving updates for the storyline AND what's going on in the battles... I have a Lox clan character list in the backstage area, I'll list the name of the wolf and a basic outline of his/her strengths. I mean basic too, so it'll be up to you to decide the specifics of him/her. I won't be on again until Monday due to my grandfathers funeral being Saturday...so enjoy this. And not everybody can keep up posting everyday, so don't get ancy and kill 3 or 4 or you'll sit in timeout for the rest of the mission.
16. Everybody, Nessaja is officially off the RP. This isn't due to her posting, she's left OB indefinitely... She wanted me to apologize to everyone... We're going to keep her alive until the end of this chapter (not mission chapter) just incase her situation changes and she's able to post again. Oh and I'm officially chibi's biatch... She beat me to senior member (1K posts)...grr Lox Clan members participating in battle: Rico: Large, powerfull Out of fight thanks to Karyn Sarah: Weaker, but can use some magic in her human form Killed by dunan Walker: Amazingly fast Killed by dunan Sam: Well balanced Killed by Karyn Trevor: Very smart wolf Killed by...have to get back to you Damien: Most experienced wolf fighter Killed by Dawner Daniella: Cunning, quick changing killed by anya Jensen: Large and Powerful (Currently fighting Karyn) The first list are the lower of the 14, doesn't mean they're pushovers. Make sure they go first... These last 6 are the "big boys". These are to be fought last, and each one rivals the skills of Karyn's father. I'm giving them a "special" ability, so it's up to you to get around it. Ruby: Has the ability to transform her human form into any others she wishes. Her scent resembles nothing of a werewolf...Killed Azriel: Yellow-eyed wolf...Can manipulate fire in human or wolf form. Fighting Dunan Reaper: Can transform into a cloud of poisonous fog that nothing can survive Killed by Anya Siera: An illusionist, can alter one's perception of the world around them. Tamara: Has the ability to create a psychic shield around herself Killed by Dawner Syckle: Karyn's half brother, only she knows the terrible power he holds... Killed by Karyn and Draco
17. I wonder how many more posts this thread wold need to officially become the "most popular" thread at OB? Of course that's really not fair since any other thread would've been shut down... But I'm still curious...
18. Lance Corporal Batle We were into our sixth or seventh hand of poker at this point, and the younger of the Marines began bragging about how many times his convoy had been hit on the way in. Nothing major, only small arms fire and nobody had been hurt. That was when the older of the two Marines, Lance Corporal Battle, decided to "school" the younger Marine on how inappropriate it was to talk about the 'dangers' of the current situation to those of us who hadn't been in country long. Of course, not wanting to sound pathetic, and not realizing the perverbial box we were opening up by agreeing to swaping tales, we all coaxed Battle into sharing one of his stories. You see Battle had been in Iraq longer then in at home in the past 5 years. Spending a mere 6 months at the home front, all his other time had been spent in the desert. After some coaxing, and a winning hand dealt by yours truley, Battle was ready to go. "I remember it so well, I'd been in Country for maybe two weeks and had been in a handfull of firefights, but nothing spectacular...." "Private Battle!" Gunery Sergeant Rex barked at the me, "get your gear. Your with Rogers tonight..." All I could think about was how cool this was going to be. The rumors of us taking Baghdad were flying around the platoon, hell even the officers were buzzing. Staff Sergeant Rogers was a hardass, simply put, he volunteer'd for patrols, was the first one into buildings, hell with his time he could sit back and let the grunts do the work. Instead, however, he choose to be in the shit with his boys, often times being the "doorman". I gathered up my gear, the whole time being assaulted by ,"You lucky ass, how'd you score a trip with Rogers. You're finally going to see some real good stuff in this sandbox. Hell you might actually come back with the first kill. Lucky bastard..." My "battlebuddy", the army's cute little nickname for a bunkmate. "That's right, I'll be in the shit and you'll be here holding yourself." I jabbed at him, slung my ruck, and stepped out. Heading for the rendevous point with Rogers, and a night I've taken with me ever since... --------------------------------------------------- I'm going to run these "stories" like this. Two chapter format, the first the "intro" by each person, and the other the story itself. I really would appreciate comments on this, I'm doing non-fiction so of course I can't add anything in, but there are several points in which the storyteller is interupted that I've left out to keep it at a reader friendly length. But can add it if people think the chapters are too short as it is...
19. "If I remember right, the bar should be..." Dean stopped in his tracks, almost causing Karyn to crash into him. "Dean what the...ohh" Karyn was cut off as she saw the bar in the distance. There was a line of wolves standing just inside the treeline, and it seemed they were about to attack. Dean could barley make out two figures just outside the doorway, Draco and Calil stood, pursed to fight. "They have no idea what's about to come." Dean scanned the trees and counted just about 20 of the wild "zombie" wolves, as Karyn and dubed them, and a single wolf much larger then the others at the rear making growling and snapping noises. "A friend of yours?" Dean pointed the huge wolf out. "Yeah, he's saying that once he leaves they're to wait for the signal and attack. I think he's probably going to use our code, so maybe I can trick them... "No, I doubt it this time." Dean watched as the big wolf took off. "Listen, I want you to transform and sprint as hard as you can towards the bar. Make sure you transform back before you make it, or Draco and Calil may mistake you for one of them. Warn them and get out the back before this happens." "B-but what are you gonna do? I can't leave you alone out here." Dean shurgged, "I'll be fine, I can hold my own out here I'm counting on you to keep the others safe." She still stood hesitantly, "Karyn go NOW!" he reached out and gave her a shove. He knew his team was strong, but 20 of those things...it wasn't possible. Karyn bolted out of sight, Dean could hear the sickening pop of bones as she transformed though. He saw her on a sprint just in front of the tree-line...and then it happened. An eerie howl, much like Karyn's from a moment ago rang in the sky. And the wolves started moving. "Damn, they'll be on them in no time" Dean took off like a bat out of hell, running full bore into the flank. Barreling into a werewolf, who knocked another down, and again another... Squaring off, Dean had three of the beasties on him. That took three away from the others...maybe they could do it now...for the first time since he was turned, Dean shot up a little prayer for them. Leaving himself out...three on one, this wasn't going to be easy.
20. Dean gulped, he'd hoped for a little bit more subtle of an approach. If this could help attract the clan wolves and not the wild ones it was worth a try. "Alright Karyn...I guess let's just give it a shot." Dean watched as Karyn tapped her chin, thinking deaply. "Okay, it's been awhile. But I'm pretty sure this is how it went..." Karyn cleared her throat in an overly exagerating way that couldn't help put a smile on Dean's face. Karyn tilted her head up to the moon and let out a sickening sweet howl that went on for a few seconds until ending in her hacking. "Sorry...had a tickle in my throat." Dean actually laughed outloud when she smiled shyly, apparently embarassed by her interuption. "Okay, this time I got it." The howl this time was much more sorrowful. Coming from a sweet girl like Karyn, it actually carried a note of terror and sent a chill up and down Dean's spine. As if by clockwork the trees exploded, 3 werewolves rushed out head long at Karyn. "Friends of yours?" Dean already had his blade out rushing to meet them. "No, these guys are just wild mutts. They wouldn't know anything, and probably couldn't even talk." Karyn landed a kick in the lead werewolfs chest that sent him reeling. Dean came in from behind, burying his blade in the beasts throat as it laid on the ground. A quick twist severed all but a few ligiments holding the head to the body, the beast didn't make a sound. The other two realized at that time they had ignored the second being, only concerned with the unknown wolf. Karyn picked up a branch and struck the wolf closest to her sending him flying. She was on him in an instant, and in a quick motion snapped the beasts neck. The other wolf had choosen Dean, apparently thinking him just a human with a blade. The wolf charged slamming into Dean sending them both to the ground. It pinned his arms down with it's clawed hands and went for his neck. Underestimating Dean for what he was, it was easy to roll backwards taking the beast with him. Dean was quickly on top and drove his sword through the beasts gapping jaws destroying the brain in an instant. Rising to his feet Dean looked towards Karyn to tell her she did good, but instead was met with a fully formed Karyn whose ears were back as if she was ready to pounce. *Clap Clap Clap* came ringing through the trees. "It seems like you've grown stronger Karyn, though regretfully you couldn't prove it before your father ripped your weakling of a mother's head off." Dean spotted the female werewolf standing atop a tree branch, partially conceled by the trees. "We really could've used you, our clan was devestated by a group of hunters. Only a handfull of us survived to rebuild, thanks to your father's new friends." "Dawner's dad and Holdren..." Dean thought to himself as the she-wolf talked. "Get down here" Karyn snarled, the viciousness in her voice startled Dean. "Oh I will, I want to show you how truley week you are. Oh and your little trick didn't work. The rest of the clan herded the wilds towards town before heading back to base. Oh wait...isn't that where the rest of your little group is heading?" Karyn had had enough. She lept into the trees with a speed that made Dean's head spin...he just hoped she left enough of that girl to find some info from.
21. Not sure how I missed this when I was going through stories a few days ago. I'm really impressed to tell you the truth, though I'm not sure what realm they would fall under. They're really well written, and really project the feelings of despair, happiness, and love. I'm with Lunar in that my favorite excerpt has to be the metaphor of the star. That part really grabbed at me. If you ever get the urge to write more of these make sure to post them.
22. I hadn't done a story in awhile, and a recent debate in my speech class made me recap my time over in the desert. A night in particular my crew and a few others were playing Texas Hold'em with a group of soldiers and Marines. We spent most of the night recapping different events, and by the end of the night most of us were pretty emotional... For personal reasons I'm going to change the names and ranks of those involved, though the stories are all very much real. Introduction I remember the night well, it was probably the best and worst night of my tour in Iraq. As most nights were in summer it seemed almost chilly, even though the temperature was still over 70 degrees. Our crew, which was made up of myself, Sergeant Bowers, and Senior Airman Miller, had met up with a group of army MP's just arriving back from the greenzone in downtown Baghdad. We invited them to our weekly Poker game, that was running pretty dry since the normal crew we played with had rotated out a few days prior. That night they brought 2 Marines with them, 2 men that had been augmented into their squad for the past month. We thought that the Marines would only bring a...more colorful evening. Instead one of them would be the man who changed the tone of the entire evening...more importantly he would be the man who would turn the simple evenings routine into the most memorable one of my military career...nay my life. Comments and criticisms are appreciated, don't hold back. I'm thinking about turning this into a book at one point, though this intro is just something I threw together.
23. Well there's nothing wrong with normal paparazzi, it's the ones from the magazines you find shots of celebrities downstairs and all sorts've other things you really could never have seen unless you stalked the person aimlessly for weeks on end waiting on that nip slip... Those paparazzi that take photos of red carpet and the like are okay, but the ones that take the time to find out when a famous person is going to be at an airport just to harass them is ridiculous and they deserve to be loaded into said airplane and dropped out at 30,000 ft... That or we should pants them somewhere when they're with their familes (that most of them probably don't have) and take all sort'sve pictures of them for hours on end.
24. "psst Cop" Jamel's unmisakeable voice was the first one Lance had actually heard in awhile. They'd stopped for a second to catch wind and everybody was dead silent. "Hey man, my boy Jarod's house is nearby. If we can get to his car he's got all kinda shit stashed. AK's, M16's, M14's, and all kinda crazy shit that explodes. We oughta get ourselves there. His apartment isn't too far from here, it's near the shopping distric." The thought of having some real kickassery sat pretty well with Lance. "Hey Kris, where's your apartment at? I'm going to take a couple people and go grab this car, if its still there. It'll give the rest of us a little better chance of knocking whatever the hell that was in their out for good." Lance stood up, motioned for Jamel to join him. "Anybody else who's interested is free to come with us." He silently stood there, waiting on an answer.
