I enjoy listening to a varity of metal. I used to be a huge SlipKnot fan but their songs became repetitive to me. Maybe I listened to them too much. >_> Right now I am heavily into Mastodon. If you like metal at all, you should give them a listen- I reccomend the songs "March of the Fire Ants" and "Mother Puncher". Good vocals, good lyrics, good sound- good all around. Nile, too. Pretty heavy stuff- more screaming vocals, not that I get tired of everyone screaming in metal or something. [^_~] I guess they are black metal- "Unas Slayer of the Gods" and "Churning the Maelstrom" are my favorite songs off their latest CD. Hm. Who else deserves a direct mention. I guess Opeth- they have alot of acoustic/softer parts to their songs, but they still are good metal. Plus, they can sing- wow. The guitaring is unique to me for some reason too- I like it. Gotta listen to "The Drapery Falls". I need to get their latest CD. Pig Destroyer. Definately. Just, worship them. Get whatever you can, however you can- they are Gods. o.o; I think that is about it. Other bands that deserve a passing mention- Strapping Young Lad, Devin Townsend Band, Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, Sepultura, Lamb of God, Alabama Thunderpussy ["Motor-ready" rocks], Glassjaw [not metal, deserves mention], December, Pantera, Cry for Dawn, Machine Head, Ion Dissonance, Circle Takes The Square, Dying Fetus, Ministry, Dog Fashion Disco, Deftones, Poison the Well, Meshuggah, Blindside [hard rock, deserves mention], Arch Enemy, As I Lay Dying, Chimaira, Skinlab, Otep. That about rounds it out.
Originally posted by OlgaTheDwarf I really hate to start a theological debate in the entertainment forum, but even if you do like COF a lot, hell, being good, is quite impossible.
You're funny. Anyway, Cradle of Filth is pretty good. I don't have any unique reasons for liking them, they are just a good band. Off of Damnation and a Day I like "An Enemy Led The Tempest" and "The Mordant Liquor of Tears". I need to purchase some of their older CDs, but I haven't gotten around to it. Hm. Online Relationships, and Impact therof
DeathKnight replied to Drix D'Zanth's topic in General Discussion
Romantically, it would be advisable to not do anything that was potentionally long distance for a great duration of time- it leads to alot of unneccesary pain and generally doesn't work out. Otherwise, all systems are go. It is just a different band of communication and I have acquired many good friends. I've met an OBer IRL and it was fine- no horrible revelation or anything of the sort. Still, keep your eyes open. You should be able to see the chinks in the armor if you are good enough. -
Vormir unlocked his fairly new looking Camry and they got inside- glancing back, Vormir muttered lightly at the mess in his rear seats. Hastily, he tried to make it look at least a bit organized- but promptly gave up. "If you'll excuse that. I- well, yeah." She chuckled a bit, "Got some paperwork dumped on you?" Buckling his seatbelt, he sighed a bit, "Horrendous amount- stuff dealing with that warehouse. I'm going to have a long night." He grinned a bit and pulled out of the office's parking lot, driving relatively fast- but not erratically. Already they hit a long red light, and thus ensued conversation. "So, what's new? Anything exciting going on in the life of miss Aura? Daring plots, great adventures? Or just the same old mediocrity?" There was an odd pause before she replied, ".. Just the same old mediocrity." He gave an odd glance, "Ah, that's bad. Yeap, just as I thought. You need some good food. Food cures all ills- that's the secret of life." She grinned, and the small talk continued on as they made their way through the increasingly packed streets..

I live in San Antonio, Texas. Home of the Alamo. Pretty nice city to live in, got alot of things to do. A small problem is with weather- we still manage to be on the tip of tornado alley, and aren't far enough inland to avoid getting hit by hurricanes who still have power left. Heh. Socially and culturally, all is well- there are moderate amounts of gang related things, but it is mainly in the south or east sides of town. Pretty diverse of a town, too. Great food as well.

A harsh paranoia undermined Ensis' thoughts, and he couldn't calm his mind. Glancing at Elda, he felt better knowing that he wasn't as alienated as he felt. He grabbed her hand and held it tightly, smiling a bit. "If nothing else eases your mind, that at least know how grateful I am that you came." She smiled back at him, and the world outside of them seemed to phase out of focus. What he had said was the truth- dealing with all of this without anyone around would have been dreadful. Content, he settled back, trying to ignore his lingering questions, fears and concerns.

I cannot imagine how that could appear offensive. Most men who do that for women would probably do that for anyone- as said, it is just common politeness. Some of the ideas of chivalry might be outdated, but otherwise it seems to be quite good to do in real life. I find myself doing some aspects of it, especially for the ladies. Some things I just find silly and skip, though. Silly people.

I hope QA and Wondershot are still about. >_> ---- After the several dramatic incidents, Ensis rubbed his chin thoughtfully and began to think, remembering some old texts he had read on his trip south. It had mentioned as a side note an old kingdom of some sort, but it didn't detail it's ending- nor did it point at a large scale destruction, military or otherwise. An uncomfortable silence fell over the deck of the ship. Stepping out of his mind for a moment, he glanced around noting Elda's absence. Worry crept through his heart and he searched around for her everywhere- until finally catching a slight glimpse of a figure in the shadows. Approaching it carefully- you'd do it too, if you had just been told of how 'ill-fated' the trip you were on was- it turned out to be Elda. Confused, he approached further and kneeled down, resting his hand on her shoulder. "Elda, are you alright?" -- [OOC]Pardon the shortness.

Name: Vormir Zhukov. Age: 34. Gender: Male. Occupation: Protector of Aura. Appearance: A large, husky man he is generally unkept looking- light beard, black [also the color of his eyes], messy hair. He is of pure-Russian descent, luckily not acquiring too noticeable of an accent- but you can clearly tell his nationality from looking at him. He is around 6'4 or so and quite muscular. There are several light scars on his body from serving in the First Chechen War. Personality: He is a pessimist usually- though, he would never be bitingly pessimistic to any of his friends. Having been through a good deal of bullshit, he is a comedian- humor being bred through laughing at his scars. Secretly, he is consistently cynical from experience, but keeps most of his doubts to himself. Weapons: AK-101 with attached sight, Pm-84 Glauberyt. Bio: Born in the late 60's in Stalingrad, Vormir was taken at the age of 7 from the tyranny of the post-Stalin USSR straight to England, where he grew up normally and studied deeply into military tactics, modern history and dabbled in chemistry. He, however, was the most interested in the military and pursued the path quite throughly, graduating from a military academy in northern Britain. Graduating about the time the USSR collapsed, he felt a great swell of pride for his homeland, and wanted to give his military skills to Russia. Packing up his things and leaving his saddened parents behind, he relocated to Moscow and joined the military service- the first action he saw was in the first Chechen War. When the conflict finally ended [only to start back up again a few years later], he saw, still, the corruption in the upper ranks of the Russian military. Wanting no part of it, he resigned and moved to the United States and joined the police force, becoming a SWAT team member in late 2001. Meeting and befriending Aura, he learned of the information she attained- animosity from the corruption he witnessed in Russia was reopened, and- with illegal weapons in hand- decided to help her in whatever ways he could. -
I'm sort of tired of this battle, between conformity and non-conformity. If you are going to not conform, you can't really be concerned or listen to the lackluster opinons your local social order has- that's part of the deal with going down the path you believe to be pretty much not trodden. Boy. It's popular to try to be different these days.

Either gender has it's fools, that much is obvious. Unfortunately, it can be hard to tell when you're the puppet- or it can be insultingly obvious. The latter is quite annoying when it still seems to somehow 'work' for them. As for me? I don't find myself overtly worried about how I am. I do seem to flirt quite frequently as I go about my business, heh. ^_~

Is life really like a box of chocolates?
DeathKnight replied to Ashley_the_blr's topic in General Discussion
It is pretty good metaphor for what it is trying to do- which is describe the broad, expansive idea of "life". I'm alright with that idea- still.. Too bad you can't get a refund. -

"So where is your Goddess? I'm not exactly keen on the locations of respective dieties anymore." "I'll point us in the right direction- Though, I suggest you grab your sword." His sword floated up from the floor and into his hands, while he gave her a curious look. She grinned a bit and blew a kiss- it seemed normal at first. Arching an eyebrow he was about to say something- but his senses picked up the fact that the room around them was changing. In slow motion the terrain was changing into what he could eventually tell was a piece of the forest. They chatted for a few moments before the terrain finally was done, the final picture- another lush part of the forest, from what he could tell. She pointed, "That way is the way we wish to wander. Eventually we will arrive at my Goddess' home. I hope you do enjoy long journeys, Kenneth." "I hope I pick up work along the way." He said, walking past her in the direction she had given him. "If not that, I can guaratee a run in with- well.. you know- people who don't appreciate asura like I do." He laughed a bit at that, "I'm sure with you here I certainly have nothing to be worried about." They continued walking and talking, a few hours being needed even to get out of the lush forest- Kenneth, not being blinded by tons of trees for the first time in awhile, knew what direction they were heading now. This would prove to be an interesting trip..

I had a furby. Got annoyed with it and I made it go to sleep- carefully placed it in a location where it would never wake up, letting it die in it's sleep. My parents were the sukers in this. They thought it would be a craze for a long time and bought several of them- storing them in a cool place, not opened. As we all know.. they stuck around, but not for as long as a someone seeking to make a profit off them being collectable would wish. Oh well. At least I didn't stab that little black furred guy or burn him. What a waste of resources.

I can see myself performing hate crimes based on religion. But, whenever it drifts into something like skin color or sexual preference it becomes quite stupid. I can see some insane or overtly zealous individual performing specific crimes based on religion, polotical ideals and things where you form a decided stance or opinon- but when you don't have much choice in the matter [skin color, sexual preference, etc.] then really- why? Seems like a waste of time, then.

I don't really get alot of spam. Hotmail has some inane settings which kills most of it- but the main thing I do is have an email adress for private use. Just for friends and I. I guess it is sad that it has gotten to that point, but what can you do. *walks away to get his penis enlarged, to save money on car insurance and to get bigger breasts*

Press conference confirming it now, apparently. This is great news, no matter if you oppose it or support it- finally, maybe things will quiet down at least a bit for the Iraqi's and the Coalition.

You never know. On the other side of the coin, you have to remember some of the stupid questionable fads that have marked the younger generation over the years. But this is a far stretch for overconcerned parents- there are many legitamate things to worry about when dealing with teenagers, but they choose to worry about bracelets.. Idiots.

Both having supurb endurance and expierence with sex, it was quite good and continued on for who knows how long. Kenneth sat up, quite pleased with the events of the day- best day he had had in a good while. Stareing absentmindedly into space, thinking quite hard. His eyes refocused, right on a nearby vine that was growing upon and around the bed- grapes, perfectly ready to be picked, rested quietly. A single fang pierced one of the grapes, tearing off of the cluster with ease. He turned, traceing the juices from the grape along her bare body- she stirred a bit with this, but shuddered as his tongue lapped it up- slowly, purposefully, carefully. He continued up to her ear where, in a whisper, he spoke. "I have a proposition for you." "You definately have my attention.." "I would like you to join me, travelling. I think you and I would be good working together.." "Oh, a business propostion?" "... Not entirely." She smiled at this, "That sounds like a promising deal. I've needed a.. vacation." "So you accept?"

As previously mentioned, both genders have pros and cons. The main thing I hear about is intelligence- that women are, generally, smarter than men. Maybe this isn't as much of a debate anymore, but that is the main thing I seem to be hit with whenever I listen in on these debates. I've met alot of stupid men and alot of stupid women- I don't really think either gender has a natural proficency with IQ. But this is my opinon. The truth might be stranger than the fiction.
