1. Last July I met my best online friend. Another friend of mine first met her on an AOL message board in 2004, and the since the two of us had similar interests, the friend had us talk to each other. Unfortunately we live about seventeen hours apart, so up until last July I wasn't ever expecting to be able to meet her face to face. We've mailed each other packages, and that was the closest I thought we'd get. Then my family decided to vacation in Maryland/Washington D.C., and somehow I managed to convince them to devote a whole day to driving to New Jersey so I could meet this friend. It was a really surreal experience, and now whenever I think about it I feel almost sick with excitement. Now I think we'll meet again whenever the opportunity presents itself, and I really can't wait. :]
 2. I haven't been able to write any lyrics in a very long time, maybe partially because I've signed that duty over to the vocalist of my band. I have been wanting to write some about a particular subject, though, and I knew it the instant I wrote the music for it. Tonight I finally took care of the lyrics myself. --- When first he came, it was without warning. And oh, how every human heart was hungering. She watched from far away and only saw surprise: There was such black hatred and hunger in his eyes. He warned her to stay away at any cost. Her sense of self-preservation was forever lost. Never was never an option, No matter the danger, "I can't live without you," She said, "Please don't ever think I could. I'm not made of diamonds. I'll shatter if you ever let me go." And though impermanence numbered her days, He couldn't bring himself to take her soul away. Forever is ever an option, No matter the danger. "I can't love without you," He said, "Please love, please think this through. You're not made of diamonds, but I'll shatter if I end up losing you." Diamond hearts around a chain, Entwined together by their fate. He said, "my love, you are the first And only one I'd end the world for. Eternity awaits." Diamond hearts and diamond skin, Despite the stone he may be made of, He's easier to break. And now the world will never end, Now the world has only begun In this story of starlight. Diamond hearts from the same gem Never quite fit just as perfectly as this. He said, "my love, the deed is done. And now we've died to live forever. We are one." --- I know there are some parts that seem like they don't really fit or may be worded strangely, but I've been able to sing the whole song over and over again and I'm very happy with the way it works out. Unfortunately I don't have the means to record it at the moment, and I don't think I will for a very long time. Besides, I subconsciously did not write this song for MY voice, so I really doubt I'd be able to perform it very well.
 3. I love this story SO much, that I actually wrote a song about Edward and Bella. I'm probably going to post the lyrics as soon as I finish with this message, haha. I just reread Eclipse the other day, and I've been browsing the information available on the Twilight Lexicon, so I'm craving more Twilight like crazy. I was even willing to read some fan-fiction for a little bit, but I couldn't really get past the first paragraph before I had to stop and knock some sense into myself. I am more excited for this movie than I have ever been for any film in my whole life. :]]]]
 4. This was probably the best Christmas ever. The first box I opened was Guitar Hero III, which I fully expected it to be because I could see the Playstation 2 label through the wrapping paper. Lulz. My parents need to wrap presents better. Then there was the knife I knew I was getting, and a $25 Borders gift card. In the last box there was a note with the words "did you leave something in the van?" written backwards. So I went to the van and found a huge package, which I knew would contain my brand new Epiphone Les Paul standard guitar. It is SO pretty and amazing, I love it so much. I'm pretty sure my day of receiving isn't over yet, because I have a lot of relatives who are coming over for dinner.
 5.
I have a feeling, because I am addicted to the food network and cooking in general, that I will get a lot of stuff for my kitchen. It is sort of cool, but sort of pointless, because I already have everything I need to cook the types of food that I cook.
That's exactly how I am; Food Network is the only thing I watch on TV and I really like cooking. I know my parents got me some cookware (thanks to a little snooping, hahaha. I've figured out that one of my two packages contains a
chef's knife
, just based on the
large knife
shaped dent in the wrapping paper). I think they other one is some sort of chef hat, but that's a 100% guess. The only thing I really wanted this year was an Epiphone Les Paul Standard guitar. For a while I was afraid they were only going to give me money to help me buy one, which would end up being about $100 short. But I did some more snooping and I discovered a HUGE box in my mom's closet, which, by process of elimination and deductive reason, I believe belongs to me.
 6.
My SN is my real name. No simpler than that.
Mine is too, but only slightly different. My real name is Claire, but all of my friends call me Clurr every now and then. I have no idea who started it or when, but I really like it. :] The reason I chose it is that I was bored of using a completely made up name online. I first signed up as Ailes de Velour (which was supposed to mean wings of velvet in French, because apparently I had an obsession with velvet and everything French at the time), then again as Amelia (my favorite name for a girl). After a while I had my name changed to Marsh, which makes even less sense than the first two. It had something to do with an inherited character in runescape and the nickname other players called me by when I used it.
 7. I suppose I'm an alright cook for someone my age. Since I'm the only vegetarian in the family I always have to cook my own meal, so it's helpful to know how to make certain dishes. All I ever watch on TV is the Food Network, anyway, so I'm usually in the mood to cook something. I can't really make a lot of stuff yet, but I would love to get a vegetarian cookbook so I can extend my repertoire of recipes. Right now my best dish is probably my yellow rice, which I make according to the directions on the package, then mix with sauteed peppers, onions, and garlic. Everyone who has eaten it so far has really liked it - one teacher jokingly asked me to cook Christmas dinner for him. XD I also know how to make a vegetable tian, which consists of potatoes, tomatoes, zucchini, and caramelized onions; and cream cheese canapes with caramelized onions (both recipes are from Food Network shows).
 8. OMGOMGOMG http://stepheniemeyer.com/twilight_movie.html THEY CAST EDWARD. It's definitely not who I wanted, and I can't really see Edward in that guy based on his picture. He looks kind of like a jerk. Oh well, this doesn't change how friggin' excited I am for this movie. EDIT- Oh, apparently this is Cedric Diggory.
 9.
One of the better vampire related books I have read is Vamped by David Sosnowski. It is a humorus novel about a world populated almost entirely by vampires. It is more a chaacter driven story and less a traditional horror story, but it makes for a wonderful light and quick read.
I'll have to find that sometime, it sort of sounds like what I've been writing; at least with the light-hearted humorous thing. EDIT: I just read its summary on GoodReads and I already love it. It feels good to be excited over a book. :D Thanks for the recommendation!
 10.
Clurr: How'd you like Cat's Cradle? I read it about a month-and-a-half ago, and I thought it was pretty good. Wasn't as interested in the overall story as I'd liked to have been, but there was some hilarious stuff and some interesting ideas (ice-nine, Bokononism, etc.). If you liked this and haven't read Slaughterhouse-Five, then you should get on that right away.
It was nice, but the ending left me a little sad. (Isn't it weird how people can complain about movies/books/tv shows always having a happy ending, and when they don't they just get depressed? D: ) I'll borrow Slaughterhouse Five from my friend as soon as I can, but at the moment it just seems like Vonnegut's books are something good to read that I can do so for my AP language class, but I don't know how well I'd like them for pleasure.
 11. Oohh! This sounds good to me. Here's my profile. Unfortunately I don't read a whole lot because I'm so picky, and whenever I'm in a library or bookstore nothing ever really jumps out at me. Except the library I go to has a really crappy stock and I usually don't want to spend money on a book I've never read before because I could end up disliking it. Vampires are my FAVORITE thing to read about, but I haven't found a lot of books that portray them to my liking. I'd like to find something other than a dumb vampire novel to read, but I have to be specific when it comes to that and I just don't know what else I want to read about. I'd like a book that's well-written, interesting, and unique, but nothing bombastic or ridiculously long like Anne Rice (I cannot pay attention to her books!) or a lot of books written in the 1800s and earlier. I don't like fantasy books anymore, either. Nowadays I just feel silly reading such, and I don't really know why. Right now I'm rereading A Clockwork Orange for my AP Language class. Previously I had to read Catcher in the Rye and Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut, and soon I'll have to pick up 1984 by George Orwell. I like how GoodReads lets you upload your own work, though. I might have to do that sometime.
 12. Some of the energy drinks I've tried are gross. I really don't like Red Bull or Celsius very much, but if I feel like staying up all night I usually like to get a lemon lime Celsius to split with my friends; it has about 200 mg of caffeine and is claimed to burn calories. Regular Full Throttle is one of my favorites. When I drink it, it doesn't really taste very good, but afterwards I start to crave it again. I love Vault, especially cherry, and I can buy a bottle of it very cheaply from the gas station across the street from my school. Energy drinks don't really have an effect on me anymore. Usually, the first time I try one, I'll just start trembling a lot. It never really gives me an energy boost or anything.
 13. I haven't really been able to get into too many bands this year, and none of my old favorites released anything (to my knowledge, at least). So I have only three. The Academy Is - Santi At the time this came out, I had only heard a few of their other songs that I really liked. But I did/do have a tremendous crush on their singer, William Beckett, so when I found out they were coming to play in my favorite venue here I didn't hesitate to buy a ticket. Then my friend gave me this CD and a couple of weeks before the concert I couldn't stop listening to it. Almost every single song stands out, so much that I have a hard time picking a favorite. It was enough to make me consider the Academy Is my second favorite band. Blaqk Audio - CexCells This is a two-person electronica group made up of Davey Havok and Jade Puget from AFI. They've been talking about doing this for years but never really had the time or means, but they finally buckled down and put out this album. I absolutely love it (I don't know if there are any techno songs I can't like, xD). At first it was a little weird to hear Davey sing about having sex or stripping, but now I can just laugh it off. My favorite songs are probably Stiff Kittens, Cities of Night, Snuff on Digital, Bitter for Sweet, and their cover of Boys and Girls by Blur. Circa Survive - On Letting Go Kevin (Goodbye, Face) urged me to listen to them, so I did, and I fell in love pretty fast. I don't have this whole album yet, but even the few songs I've heard make it amazing. It's better than a lot of other new songs I've heard this year, anyway. I'm definitely buying it after Christmas. I haven't had a true 3rd favorite band in a long time, but now I do. :D
 14.
Eyes. You know what, I love eyes. I'm obsessed with eyes - I love writing about eyes, looking at people's eyes, you know. Eyes mean everything. 'Gate way to the soul' stuff may or may not be true, but your eyes hold the majority of your emotions. You know people can't tell when I'm angry or sarcastic with my sunglasses on, but immediately can with them off? It's the eyes.
I can be really interested in eyes, too, but not really so much for the emotions they can express. Although sharing eye contact with someone is pretty powerful. But mostly I just love eyes because of their color. Bright colors, mostly. My own eyes are nice if there's enough light around them; they take on a kind of amber tint. In regular light, though, they're mostly green with brown lines surrounding the pupil. My friend has the most amazing eyes I've ever seen; very pale, steel blue. Sometimes when I'm with her I can't help but gush over them. XD. One of her dogs has cool eyes, too, they're pure white with a dark outline so you can differentiate them from the rest of the eyeball. Of course, dark eyes can be awesome, too. They sort of give people a kind of puppy dog quality. But when I think of characters for my stories and stuff, they mostly have bright, unnaturally colored eyes (usually because they're vampires). Which reminds me! Vampires When I was in the eighth grade, my friend convinced me to read Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice. It was kind of boring, and I couldn't even get halfway through the second book because it was so dull and sometimes pseudo-bombastic. But I saw the movie Queen of the Damned and became hopelessly obsessed with vampires. At the time I was still a Christian, so I felt really guilty about my interest. I couldn't bring myself to ever write about them, and whenever I DID think of a vampire character, I would eventually change him/her into something similar, but not the same. When I grew out of it, vampires became all I ever wanted to write or read about. Just last year I came up with a huge story series idea involving nothing BUT vampires, and I'm still planning on taking it somewhere. (I'm just constantly plagued with writer's block. :[ ) I do have a new vampire story in the works, but it's already turning out to be quite long. I'm hoping it will end up at least long enough to be considered a novella.
 15. I really doubt any of these are severe enough to be considered phobias. :P Insects and spiders I seriously cannot even stay in the same room as them. Ants aren't so bad, because they're so small and I've just been exposed to them pretty much every day. But spiders, roaches, silverfish, etc., are so so so so so creepy. Usually I'll just get one of my parents to come and get rid of it, because I can't even bring myself to kill it. One day there was a tiny, dead roach sitting near my computer monitor, and I grabbed a million paper towels to dispose of it. Heights I suppose I'm mostly afraid of falling and getting hurt, but if I'm very high off the ground I'll be so paranoid and jittery. Even if I'm inside a tall building, if I can see how high up I am I'll freak out. I can hardly climb the stairs of my school's gym or stadium. Darkness Pitch darkness, at least. It's not so bad if it's my closet or bathroom or something, since I can just easily reach a light or leave. But whenever the power goes out at night, even for a couple seconds, I panic. The last time the power flickered, I screamed and started shaking. One night it went out after midnight and woke me up, and it kept coming on and off. When it finally stayed off, I had to run to my parents room to sleep on their floor. xD Being alone at night I used to be scared of walking to the bus stop in the dark in the morning, but I'm over that now. The bigger problem is if I have to stay by myself somewhere at night. It's only happened a couple of times, but I was such a wreck the last time it happened. I kept calling my parents to find out when they were coming home. I even left my house because I kept hearing noises, and I walked (in the dark at night!) to my friend's house. He wasn't home, though, so walking home by myself was pretty terrifying. I plan on always having a roommate when I have to move out of here. The paranormal Another one that only happens at night. I can read about ghosts and hauntings all day long and it just becomes more and more interesting, but once I start thinking about all of it at night, it scares the crap out of me. What's more, my mom has always told my sisters and me that her father's house used to have strange occurrences, like door knobs turning on their own or music boxes randomly starting. Whenever we have to spend the night there, I have a terrible time sleeping. I usually won't even go to the bathroom at night, I'm so scared of being alone in that house. We used to go there all the time over the summer and I would have to spend my birthday there. Once the entire household went to shop for my party and left me by myself in that creepy house (my mother had already told us about the "ghost" by then). I really wish I never had to go back, but we're going after Christmas. :[[ Now, for the things I LOVE: Cats Whenever I see one, I can't help but squeal in delight. They're so adorable, and despite many having grumpy, mean personalities, I find them so fun to be around. I would love to have, liiiike, 300 cats, as long as I didn't have to worry about feeding them or cleaning up their crap. Hah. Winter It's my favorite season, and I'm so happy when it starts getting cooler here. My part of Florida never really gets very cold, but when it gets anywhere near 40 degrees I'm ecstatic. Plus, Christmas is basically my favorite holiday; the decorations, music, holiday from school, seeing family, and most importantly, PRESENTS. Rain I'm only happy when it rains! Or at least I become TWICE as happy when it rains (because I'm never really unhappy :P). This one is weird, because if it storms at night, I get really scared. But if it's both cold and rainy, I get incredibly hyper. It's the best weather I could ask for. You would think with all these nighttime fears I'd be afraid of night, but I actually really like it. I usually prefer it to daytime.
 16. I don't know if it's possible for me to dislike a techno song. I don't know much about the genre, but if I hear it on the radio or anywhere I'll most likely enjoy it. My favorite electronica group is Blaqk Audio, which consists of Davey and Jade from AFI. It's claimed to be very Depeche Mode-esque, which I can't necessarily confirm because I haven't listened to any DM. They only have one album out right now, CexCells, but it's excellent. Jade is really good at programming, and of course Davey's lyrics are always perfect. Most of the tracks are my favorites, but the ones that stand out the most right now are Cities of Night, Stiff Kittens, Bitter for Sweet, Semiotic Love, and Snuff on Digital. Oh! A trailer for the US remake of The Eye used parts of Blaqk Audio songs; Between Breaths (an XX Perspective) and The Love Letter. I haven't seen the trailer offline, but it was so awesome to recognize those songs in it.

 18. Haha, I just made a list like this on Livejournal earlier today. I'm pretty much only hoping for one thing for Christmas because it would be pretty expensive. Chances are I will not be able to afford anything remotely similar. As long as the set I do get is decent quality, I guess I can handle it not being white or from a brand name of merit. Since there's a lot of stuff I want, I went ahead and made a full blown list. Here's another case of just settling for something not exactly what I want. This is an Epiphone Les Paul, which looks pretty much exactly the same as a Gibson Les Paul, but I suppose it's nowhere near as good a guitar (because it's about $900 cheaper). There's the Gibson. :[ I am not really counting on owning one anytime soon. Too bad the PS2 guitar is hella ugly. :[ Circa Survive - Juturna; On Letting Go
 19. I usually don't see many of my friends outside of school, because I don't have a car, and those that do are usually busy anyway. I just talk to them during school, online, or by text messaging. There's one friend I can always hang out with, though, and whenever she comes over we usually just watch a movie or work on our band. Occasionally we'll go out driving somewhere, like to Guitar Center, Fresh Market, Chipotle, or this amazing Chinese place we found. Sometimes she and another friend, the bassist of our band, can come over together and then we'd practice. We used to have sleepovers with two other friends a lot, and we'd stay up all night watching movies or TV and baking. It was a ton of fun, so I really hope we can have one again. A lot of my friends like Guitar Hero, too, so we'll play that if we're together and bored.
 20. OMFG. SWEET. I was hoping Stephenie Meyer's main choice for Bella, Emily Browning (from Series of Unfortunate Events) would be cast, though. You're right, Dagger, she doesn't really strike me as Bella-ish. And I think Gaspard Ulliel would be the most perfect choice for Edward. Oh my goodness. He's even DRESSED like Edward!
 21. I actually consider myself asexual, as I've never actually desired that kind of intimacy with anyone (male or female). Of course, I find people attractive all the time, usually more boys than girls, but as Vicky said that definitely doesn't mean I want to be in a relationship with them. I'm crushing on two people right now, which, disregarding the fact that they're both famous singers and I'll never have a chance with them anyway, is as far as I think I can go. Most of the guys I do find attractive are either gay or incredibly girly, though. It's just a lot more fun to be in love with someone without having to put a title on it or being expected to share physical affection. For me, there's no point in it. There have been times I thought I might have been at least bisexual, but what I just mentioned pretty much makes that idea impossible. I just really really love some people, and I can't imagine a future without them.
 22.
No...
the buggers intended to come to Earth to invade. The whole twist involving them was that they didn't realize that humans weren't a hive mind soceity, and therefore didn't realize that they were killing sentient life. They likened it to "clipping toenails." They simply didn't think it was really damaging.

Ah, I guess I've been remembering it wrongly. D: Sorry about that. Even still, disregarding my blunder, two beings that can't communicate will either try to learn how to do so or simply perceive each other as a threat and try to exterminate each other. But I don't think that just because every life form on earth may not be able to survive under conditions on Europa or the earth-like planets, it means that any life at all is impossible. If we're considering the existence of aliens we should consider that they would probably not survive the same way we do.
 23.
It always seems that aliens get this bad rap of being these evil super advanced guys that are just out to get rid of us. This seems silly to me. I personally think if a race has evolved to the point of space travel then they probably have evolved in all other places as well, including morally. I don't see any reason to think that these creatures would be violent. If they were then it seems like the probably wouldn't have gotten so advanced, they'd just keep killing each other off. I think it would be much more likely that if we ever do come in contact with an alien species it will be a peaceful one. Especially if they make contact with us. I do think the existence of intelligent beings besides our own would have interesting implications in religion, though.
In Ender's Game,
the Buggers were not actually out to destroy the human race. But because the two species couldn't communicate with each other, one of them (I believe the humans) attacked out of fear, and that's how all the Bugger Wars got started.
So if there are sentient, peaceful beings out there, the chances of them becoming a threat (disregarding any slim chance of discovery to begin with) or remaining harmless are probably 50/50. Reading this thread, a science-fiction future seems really realistic. xD
 24. I don't have any reason at all to disbelieve in "extraterrestrial life." It would be extremely arrogant to think that Earth is the only planet in the entire universe with lifeforms, considering how humongous the universe is. I can't say for sure whether or not I believe that some of those other lifeforms are sentient or not, though. And even if they ARE "sentient," we would most likely either never come in contact with them or would not be able to communicate with them whatsoever (which we know from Ender's Game would can lead to some VERY VERY BAD things). But even if someone did discover life on other planets, I'm pretty sure the government would do everything it could to withhold the information from everyone, lest it cause extreme panic. :/ Now that I think about it, lots of things written about in science fiction books are highly likely. Extraterrestrial life, worldwide chaos over its discovery, a full-fledge war against the "aliens..." ...this is why I'm afraid of outer space. :[
 25. Okay, I figured out what to do with the song so far, so I removed the link to the current mp3 download. I don't know when I'll be able to add to it, but I'll do so as soon as I can.
