Oh my, I'm the first high schooler to post. D: From above, my school looks like a hand. I think it was supposed to be more like a wheel with the cafeteria and three hallways as spokes connected to the main hallway, but they had to add hallways in between. So even though it would be six-fingered, it definitely looks like a hand. It's not the best school. Last year it smelled like a bathroom, though they fixed the pipes over the summer. I've always heard about colonies of rats, but I've never actually seen one. It's also common knowledge that the floor is covered with the AIDs virus. =P Last year some really interesting things happened. A teacher was arrested for stealing money meant for some senior event, and much later in the year a girl tried to stab another girl and ended up "lacerating her own finger." Everyone refers to it as "the shanking incident." There are plenty of fights, though my luck is horrible and I've never been able to see one. Another of our sort of inside jokes is that the resource officer often tazes people who are too out of control. There are also several pregnant people, such that when we were held back in class the day of the shanking incident my friend exclaimed "are they done having a baby yet?" Despite all the grossness and seeming negativity, I absolutely love my school.
Dragon Ball Z: It should have stopped at Cell.
OMG yes. :[ "Teen" Gohan was my favorite character in the whole show but when he turned 16 he became incredibly lame and stupid. Talk about a disappointment. I haven't watched it interestedly in over a year, but Degrassi has probably jumped quite a few sharks. I actually liked the first few seasons (when I was between the ages of 13 and 14, by the way) but after
Rick died
I discovered how dumb the show actually was. I don't understand how one group of friends can have
two pregnancies, two deaths, eating disorders, mental health issues, drug problems, STDs, and who knows what else
. Just ONE group of friends. It's ridiculous.

Now, this doesn't just have to be about your favorite instruments. Talk about your favorite brand, favorite strings/picks/drum heads/sticks/whatever, amplifier, effects, whatever. Since I know how to play it the best, my favorite instrument is the guitar. I'm really picky when it comes to the outward appearance, though. I find any oblong shape (Flying V and such) completely ugly. The Gibson Les Paul is the most beautiful guitar in the world. I had the honor of playing one this evening (through a Marshall amp, which is my favorite amp brand) and it was absolutely AMAZING. I really really want that exact guitar, but any color is just as pretty. It's over a thousand dollars, though. :[ The only guitar with a double cut body that I like is the Gibson SG. Everything else is just kind of bleh looking. I don't like Fenders that much. (I'll have to play one live until I can get a new guitar, though, meh). As for strings, I love D'addario. I'm not a strings connoisseur or anything, but I've been using D'addario since I've been able to restring my own guitar and the feel and sound great. I think my second favorite instrument is probably the cello. It makes the most beautiful sound of all the bowed stringed instruments, in my opinion, and when I was in ninth grade I was obsessed with Rasputina (an amazing band that is made up of only cellos). I say anything = songs that remind me of winter in the middle of the night. 1. The Church; "Under the Milky Way" 2. Smashing Pumpkins; "Tonight, Tonight" 3. London After Midnight; "Claire's Horrors" 4. Smashing Pumpkins; "Disarm" 5. Smashing Pumpkins; "Zero" 6. Rufiomercutiopistachioadagio; "Lucio" 7. AFI; "On the Arrow" 8. AFI; "Jack the Ripper" 9. AFI; "Love Like Winter" 10. Nectar of the Gods; "Invierno" 11. The Used; "Blue and Yellow" 12. The Used; "The Taste of Ink" 13. The Cult; "Big Neon Glitter" 14. Paper Rival; "Love You Dead" 15. Coalesce; "Blue Collar Lullaby" The reason these all remind me of winter/the middle of the night is that last December I would stay up till maybe 3 or 4 AM listening to these and many other songs trying to write stories and stuff. I can't wait for winter so I can repeat that process; hopefully I'll break my writer's block then. Okay, next playlist...songs you like to dance to.
I just get annoyed by how much Bella
switched between Edward and Jacob in New Moon. She like, makes the whole big deal of, "Oh Jacob, I like you, but I'm a broken woman... you don't want me..." and he OBVIOUSLY does.
:p
I remember Bella
getting closer to Jacob
in New Moon, but not necessarily the quote (or any version of it). I haven't read it in a long while, though, and I don't really plan on reading it again anytime soon (because what you just mentioned makes me really mad, xD. NM is my least favorite in the series). It becomes even worse in Eclipse, but
at least the vampires are IN that one. Bella's "love you like a brother" stance changes. Big time. So there's this one part in Eclipse that's super intense just because of her split emotions.
I was actually scared during that part. I was like
"PICK EDWARD. PICK EDWARD. PICK EDWEEEEERD."

I've always hated those inconsistencies as well.
Well, because vampires don't actually exist, and they're not trademarked by anyone, there are no consistent facts about them and people can portray them however they want. And boo hiss on MT Anderson!

I vote vampires, but it pretty much depends entirely on how they're being portrayed. I hate vampires that are just mindless bloodsucking animals, like in Salem's Lot (I think, I've only seen a snippet of it once). I wasn't too fond of the ones in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie, either, if only because their ringleader used a sword instead of his own supernatural abilities. I also can't stand the book Thirsty because of how annoying the vampires were (and also because it was written pretty badly). If they're not done just right, I don't like them. Anne Rice and Stephenie Meyer have done them the best in my opinion. My own vampire characters are a mix between those two portrayals, but much more lighthearted. Werewolves can be alright, but I'm just a lot more fond of vampires in general. When I still loved fantasy books and such, I created a race who had the appearance of vampires, with pale skin and fangs, as well as an aversion to sunlight and a sort of immortality, but they could transform into wolves.
*wow, long wait* Thank you. Do you have any idea how many books are in this series???
I think there are just four regarding Bella's story. There will be at least one more book after Breaking Dawn, which is the events of Twilight told by Edward: "Midnight Sun." The first chapter is on Stephenie Meyer's website. I really hope there will be more books in the franchise, though.
Personally I consider 'otaku' to be a race. It's somthing your born as and cannot change. As said by the greatest otaku who ever lived, Madarame, 'you can't just stop being an otaku. It is who you are.' This si true no matter what country you live in.
That might be the way you feel, but that's not always the case. In middle school I loved anime and manga more than any other TV show or book that wasn't made in Japan. I'd stay up late, despite being exhausted, to watch it, and video tape it when I couldn't afford to stay awake. I'd buy manga whenever I had enough money for it. I don't know how it happened, considering how obsessed I was, but eventually I just stopped caring. I didn't want to draw anymore because all I could draw was anime-style. When I did draw, I tried my best to make it as non-anime-esque as I could, but when someone saw and asked me if it was anime, I vehemently denied it. The other day in Physics, I doodled on an assignment and when I got it back, the teacher wrote "Physics is an anime free zone!" If that had happened three years ago I would have been shocked that he knew what anime was. I was just appalled that he associated me with it. (No offense to anyone, of course). So, yeah. Anyone who is considered an otaku can definitely stop being one.

Like Lunox, I'm pretty detached from everything about 9/11. I was in fifth grade when it happened, which, for me, was too young to realize what exactly had happened. All I remember is that I was sitting in math class when the science teacher ran in and turned on the TV, and for the rest of the class we watched the news. Back in my regular class, students were getting signed out every minute. I went home later that afternoon, miffed with my parents that they hadn't signed ME out. Even with my parents in a panic, I didn't understand the gravity of the situation. The only thing that affected me then was that Cartoon Network was showing the same episodes of DBZ and Pokemon that they did the day before, and I was frustrated because of it. Now it's six years later and I suppose I won't ever be very affected by that day. It's kind of like losing a relative when you're too young to understand that they're dead, and by the time you can grasp that concept it's been far too long for their death to impact you anymore. It's something that I just can't help. Not much happened today, in any case. It started like every other morning, with the pledge and a moment of silence. I thought that everyone had forgotten it was 9/11, until someone came over the PA with a brief reminder and conducted another short moment of silence at 8:46. Then school went on as it usually does and no one mentioned it again.
I saw this live the other day and I was just blown away: http://youtube.com/watch?v=8fUJxOS0BGw It's the middle part of three, if you want to see more. I think the video is pretty self-explanatory. They're Invisible, I think they're pretty new, and they play some ridiculously weird music that I can't even explain. They play a lot more instruments than what's shown in any of the videos.
O_O That's freaking amazing. I'm in love. ...and I'm speechless.

Not all horror movies have gore and violence, though...or at least not as much as certain other movies. Halloween, The Exorcist, The Shining, and the Ring rely more on emotional horror than physical disgust (although they do have moments of blood and grossness and such). For years I was afraid to watch horror movies because I thought they would keep me up at night or give me nightmares or something. I finally watched The Shining when I was in the ninth grade and I loved it. After that, I could calmly watch all the movies I mentioned above without getting scared at all, and I loved them (except for Halloween, which was really just boring). Horror books don't bother me, either, unless I'm reading them at night. However, there is no possible way for me to watch gorey torture/murder scenes without feeling sick. My friends wanted to watch Hostel one night, and I spent more than half the movie with my face buried in the couch. It wasn't just feeling disgusted because of the snot and vomit and guts; it was extremely disturbing to watch people getting cut up and tortured. I don't think I can handle horror games, though. I rented Fatal Frame and couldn't even get past the first part of the game (partly because it was confusing, but trying to play it was incredibly nervewracking). I'm still a baby when it comes to real life horror. I can't sleep without my lamp and TV on, or else I'll hear random noises in the house and over-think them. It's also pretty hard for me to not believe in ghosts, what with the stories my mom has told me about her father's house. The last time I had to spend the night there I couldn't sleep AT ALL.

The only problem I can see with this is that peoples' favorite things can change quite often. I know I've had a different favorite band every year since the sixth grade (even though AFI has always been a favorite and THE favorite for two years now, :P), and I do change a lot outside of my entertainment interests. I don't know about anyone else, but if I go back and read a post about something that is no longer my favorite, then I feel compelled to update it. Some people change a lot more often than every year, though, so a sticky like that would rack up lots of posts very quickly.

I can think of three times when I was actually able to predict something. Once, I went to turn on my radio, and I suddenly thought of "Miss Murder" by AFI. Surprisingly, that song started as soon as I turned the radio on. Another time I thought of "Lips Like Morphine" by Kill Hannah before turning on the radio, and it was playing. Uh, the third time.... I woke up one morning and turned my TV to MTV, thinking about the Love Like Winter video, and blam! It was playing. :] Any other time I've "predicted" something, it was only because whatever I predicted was obvious. My sisters were watching a show on the Disney Channel where a kid had a huge party and his house was a wreck, so his dad said "Don't worry, I'll call a maid." And I knew the dad was calling the kid's cell phone, which he did. But Disney is just really predictable anyway. I don't really believe in psychic powers or anything like that. I really can't help but laugh when someone takes a "psychic" completely seriously: That Sylvia someoneorother was on Montel once, and someone in the audience asked if the psychic could foresee her giving birth, and the psychic told her something like "yes, a boy!" And the lady seemed really excited. :/

REBORN'D! 1. The Beatles; "Twist and Shout" ...I'm assuming it's the Beatles, but it really doesn't sound like them. I'm not all that fond of them or this song, anyway. :/ 2. As I Lay Dying; "Collision"

I don't remember if I mentioned my "solo project," so here it is: The Cheshire Clurr It was basically just a place to put any covers I wanted to do but couldn't get my band's vocalist over to do them, so I did them myself. Now, however, I'm planning on recording an EP to sell in order to help fund NOG. There's only one song up right now, but I've got two other songs written. I think if I can finish two more, then I'll start working on the EP.

I go through long periods where I'll only drink one kind of soda, eventually getting sick of it and finding a different obsession. I think it started with Cherry Coke and lasted for months. When I couldn't tell the difference between cherry coke and regular coke anymore, I started drinking Code Red Mountain Dew (I love cherry flavored things). Eventually the cherry taste disappeared in that, too, so I tried regular Mountain Dew. That lasted the shortest, I think, and now my favorite soda is rootbeer.

Oh, the irony! Welcome to Otakuboards, machiko8119. I'm going to close this thread, because there is already an AFI thread listed in the Thread Directory. You also need to work on your post quality: please try to use capitalization and proper spelling. You should explain more about your post than just ask a question. Talk about why you like the band, what your favorite songs are, etc., and why. And for future reference, AFI is my all time favorite band. In the history of forever.
Have you listened to Black Audio? It's Havocs side project and it rules. Thats what i am listening to right now.
Of course! I went through great pains to get CexCells (meaning I had my friend buy it for me so I could hide it from my parents =X). I have absolutely no idea what I'm listening to right now. I just turned on my radio out of boredom. Apparently the local rock station is doing some kind of Labor Day Countdown (which I think they were doing yesterday).

My birthday is July 20. I don't know of any famous people born on that day, but I met someone working in Arlington National Cemetery that shares it with me. According to Wikipedia... ...no one I've heard of or that I'm particularly interested in was born on my birthday. :[
