1.
The best way to stop a meteor is to kill a pretty girl you know and hope that she carried the Holy Materia. Also, those options suck. Having sex with someone from the office?! What office? It's not like every person in the world works in an office. ;P If it were so, the world would be so scary that it would deserve to be abolished by a meteor. XP
Says the person with the Light Yagami avatar. Actually kind of interesting that you would say that. I would probably go put my boots on, start a bonfire, and shoot the bull untill the final minutes. Sadly there is no way I would be able to be with my loved one in the final minutes, the mass panic at the time would make trying to visit her impossible especially since she is four hours away.
 2. OOC: I forgot one thing- I have not yet thought up a name for Martel?s ship. For now just refer to it as the Alutri Arrow, but I do plan on making an official name. Oh, and sorry if this is a bit long. I am kind of doing a flyby and slow entry- describing the ship before finally introducing my character. The Arrow is Martel Alutri?s personal ship. ~Lunar Parking Orbit, Alutri Arrow~ A cluster of debris floated in a steady orbit around Nightside?s moon, looking like a fragment of destroyed space station that still had a debris cloud of it?s own orbiting it. As it continued its orbit, it entered the lunar shadow region. Looking closely, lights could be seen on the center hull- flickering in and out of view as the debris orbiting it passed. An angry yellow and red flame briefly lashed out from one side, while it looked like a dead junkyard at first glance it very clearly was a powered and active ship with station keeping thrusters holding it in it?s orbit. Soon it crossed back across the lunar sunrise, and as the sun shown down on the hull the junk cloud that had gathered around it suddenly began to disperse, revealing a clean-lined ship?s hull in the center. ~Alutri Arrow, bridge~ Humming electronics, flashing lights. The ship may not look like much, and at first glance seemed abandoned, but it very clearly still had power- and where there was power there could still be life. An indicator flashed on the board near the controls, and nearby a computer screen showed a cycling slideshow of photos as its screen saver. Four empty seats lined the bridge- two near the controls up front, the other two merely passenger seats. Passing the hatch in the back of the bridge, footsteps could be heard from down the hallway; someone was still alive on board. ~Alutri Arrow, center lounge~ ?I wonder if I went and fixed myself out of business.? a plush woman sighed, talking out loud even though there was nobody else on board. She had been laying on one of the lounge couches, staring at the ceiling and listening to the communication channels on the radio in case anyone was looking for repairs to their ship or something. ?At least I will still have onboard power if I run out of helium again, but I will end up stranded if that happens since I won?t have money to buy more.? She looked to a display panel near the entertainment center; a gauge on the panel was blinking because it was reading low. Sighing out of boredom again, she shut off the radio in that room and made her way towards the bridge. Sitting down in the captain?s chair, a few adjustments to the controls were made. The computer near her chair awoke from screensaver, and along with the cracking of a sound connection coming through the image of an older man in a white lab coat appeared on screen. ?Martel, are you alright? How have you been?? ?I?m fine. Just bored, I?m orbiting the Nightshade moon right now and finding that there really isn?t much work right now. Hopefully I?ll find something before I run out of Helium completely, otherwise I?ll end up owing you guys money again.? Martel answered back, turning her chair to face the computer screen. ?Just be careful. Long-term isolation like this is not good for your mental health, that?s why I talk to you from time to time. But things have been busy here at the station too, we have another project coming onto the prototyping floor and are all busy with it.? The scientist answered her. ?I?ll be fine Dr. Edison. Hopefully someone will call for repairs soon, and I will be back in business. I have enough left to get me to Mars in about a week, so if things stay quiet around here I will head out that way.? She replied back. ?Have you been watching the news feeds? Apparently the Vamtyrs have started to spread to other planets too. I guess Mars is in the midst of an intense war now as people are trying to fight them off, and Jupiter has been invaded too.? ?They?ve been spotted searching near Venus too, but there have not been any observed landings, and no stations have been attacked yet. I didn?t know they had reached Jupiter already, news of that hasn?t reached us yet.? Dr. Edison remarked. Another voice could be heard in the background, it seems he was needed in the drawing room. ?Well, I have to go now. Designs have a problem, and they want me to help fix it. Take care of yourself Martel. We all miss you here on the station.? ?You take care too Dr Edison. I?ll be around the system, contact me at any time. You are right about being alone all the time not being good for someone, I feel it from time to time when I don?t have enough work and nobody else on here to keep me company.? Martel answered back. The computer screen went back to desktop as the doctor disconnected- a picture of her at about age 14 standing next to the blueprint of the ship that was now hers, the background being the entertainment center of the Lounge on board the ship. This ship was a design she made when she was only 10 years old, and after the prototype was proven so useful for freight hauling and long-range passenger service it was only fitting that when she left the station the station director gave her the original to keep. She turned on the radio again and leaned back in the chair, for all it?s junkyard outer appearances the interior of the ship was very well furnished with comfortable furniture and recently updated technology. Hopefully someone would broadcast a distress call, needing his or her ship repaired. Then she would have work, and would have money again when they paid her for the repairs.
 3. I was just notified today that some people have sex whenever they are bored. Absolutely terrible IMO. I have no issue with cuddling with a partner when bored and maybe sharing a book, or maybe a somewhat cliche romantic scene for a couple. But sex just to relieve boredom somehow seems even worse than sex itself. Also, I kind of understand what some people are saying about the first time being awkward, but something to consider- by waiting for the first time, you get to share that awkward moment with someone you might be with the rest of your life, and later on in life might just look back at your first time and enjoy what you see.
 4.
In an attempt to make this thread feel less...I guess you can say, menial, here's a burning question I'll pose that I believe is relevant: Why is it that, if a male [teen] loses his virginity, he's applauded and high fived by all his buddies, but if a female [teen] loses her virginity, more often than not, she's looked down upon and called "whorish" and "sluttish"? Maybe this exists only in media, but I've had friends the latter has happened to before.
And it's not just the media, though it may be the media's influence. I recall observing that phenomena more than once in the dorms.
 5. My weapon of choice: 12-Gauge Coach Gun. Shortest legal barrel on a sawed-off, and mounted side by side is the classic shotgun wedding gun. Loading #8 bird shot, it will convert a silhouette target to a pile of paper pulp at 25 yards with each barrel. There are others around too, in the event of a zombie invasion I think I would be pretty well set since there's plenty of guns and ammo, spare fuel in teh basement, the well would continue running even if I did have to switch to Aux power As for food, we've got cows. I doubt I'll be running out of food anytime soon.
 6. ~Ruins of Thundering Irons Blacksmith Shop, Knotthole~ Shaun headed off to look for Sue, as Odin and Lucy drew weapons and gazed intently at each other as they slowly circled, as if trying to gauge who would make the first move. ?It?s unusual for you to hesitate Lucy. Isn?t your specialty killing before the enemy even knows they are targeted?? Odin taunted the black-iron clad woman who was facing him. I was thinking the same of you Odin. Normally when you realize you have the surprise advantage, you quietly tell your companions and make use of it. This time you outright gave it away.? Lucy taunted back ?Becoming overconfident in your abilities because I haven?t killed you yet?? ?Actually I was making it a point to get my friends clear before you showed yourself, since you forgot to not look at the same place for too long and gave yourself away.? Odin answered back. ?If I really did have to worry about you killing me, I would have been dead a long time ago.? ?Well, enough chat. Maybe this time you had best not hold back, or your friends won?t even find a corpse.? Lucy called out interrupting Odin. She switched stances with her daggers and charged, hearing the solid clash as Odin parried one of the two daggers with his hammer, cleanly dodging the other. Another clash of steel as Odin?s free hammer came down, rattling the chains of Lucy?s armor as it struck her near the hip- the older hammer had a poor balance, and Odin had trouble hitting his target with it. Lucy winced at the force of the blow, even though Odin was not a normal fighter he did have surprising strength with his hammers from using them at the forge. ?Twin Fangs!? Shouted Lucy as after jumping back from Odin?s strike, her daggers moved and a dark purple beam shot down the blade as her energy gathered on them. Odin turned to the side and the beam shot past, but Lucy fully expected this and turned one of the blades to bite into his arm as the other hit a tool in the apron side pocket- glancing off the steel piece inside. Cloth tearing on the blade was heard, and Odin?s sleeve had been torn off. On the section of his right arm that was showing, among the fresh cut that was beginning to seep blood, was a series of other scars, very closely aligned to the new cut. ?Same spot again Lucy? I swear you must be trying not to hit my vitals since you always hit me there.? Odin remarked as Lucy recovered from her strike and dodged a swing from Odin at her head. ?If I had really wanted you dead, I would have killed you in your sleep years ago.? Lucy shot back. In a way, the fighting between these two reflected both strength and skill, but in a sense also seemed like a strange sort of bonding or potentially even a ghost of the past. ?Anvil Breaker!? Odin called out, the runes of his hammers lighting up as the heads began to glow. He swung a series of furious blows at Lucy, first for the shoulder, then the knee, the last one in the gut. Lucy elegantly dodged all except the last one, and soon found herself sent airborne as she was thrown off balance by the force of it. ?That?s the first time you?ve hit me with that Odin, and goddamit that really hurt.? She shouted as she landed on her feet and came at him again. It was her turn now, the daggars in her hands moving like a whirling blade of a lawn mower as towards Odin. At the last second before hitting him, she stopped her motion, and instead struck him dead center in the chest- with the handle of her blades. Odin was forced backwards, he stared to fall due to her strike having fully knocked the wind out of him. Lucy rushed quickly to him, catching the unconscious form and easing him onto the ground. ?You?ve gotten stronger Odin.? Lucy remarked as Odin lay in a daze on the ground. ?Next Time I may have to use everything to beat you, even if it means killing you. She knelt briefly before his form, bending over him as if respecting a fallen friend. There was a rustling in the leaves, and a burst of cold and shadow, and all that remained was the dying campfire and the ruins of the town, and a ?sleeping? blacksmith- dreaming about the life that might have been.
 7. 1. Do you have anyone who you'd like to take your virginity? Yes, but it is a personal matter. If she reads this she would know what I mean 2. How or where would you like to loose your virginity? The night of our honeymoon. 3. Are any conditions you consider that must be met for you to loose your virginity? The 'Absolute Condition' specifies no sex untill marriage. Making out is fine, but the pants stay on. 4. How does it feel being a virgin? Are you ever made fun of for it? I'm 20 years old, a virgin, and dammed proud of it. If I don't ever find the girl I dream of, I'll die a virgin. And I see absolutely nothing wrong with that. Yes I get picked on for it, but I don't see what the big deal is. I hear of it being regarded as a curse for a man. I think it is a gift for a true love.
 8.
A disk drive. Or somewhere for you to put your floppy disk =)
...sorry, I kid, but only a little =p

Nobody even uses floppy disks anymore. Still, that would be a minor problem I think. Probably they would use a special slot for it, since you really wouldn't want to put anything else there. @Gunslinger: A practical real-world robot would have to be waterproofed enough to bathe or get rained on, otherwise it would end up getting dirty and foul smelling on short order. If you really were into that kind of thing, you probably could take a hot shower with one, just make sure the charger port is plugged.
 9.
Ah, so we can't tell the Egyptians they're having sex with a human trapped inside a metal casing? They wouldn't know the difference! So I'm not going off topic, haha, maybe sometime in the future robots, whilst having sex with humans, will have sex with each other and instead of AIDs, they get viruses. Sexually Transmitted Trojans =/ There could be a whole career in the study of Robot Sex in the future. Yesss, the perfect University Course!
What do you think the best way to spread computer viruses is? Attach them to a porn site. Somebody goes to such a site bent on pleasuring themselves, and while they are having a good FAP, their computer gets raped. Of course I have a feeling that robots would have that even worse, since a male robot of the pleasure variety might go to a porn site without using a PC interface, and get personally raped by the same viruses. Could probably happen with robot-robot deals too, though I think that is a bit farfetched. I doubt a machine would have the drive that causes humans to seek out a mate and do That, so the odds of a robot-robot bed sharing would be very low. That is kind of a different topic though.
 10.
Robots (at least in Data's case) don't get tired. Robots (at least in Data's case) are ten times as strong and fast as a human. Robots (at least in Data's case) can perform a trillion functions per second. And if robots (at least in Data's case) are fully functional and programmed in multiple techniques... ...then I'd ****ing do a robot (in Data's case especially). Now let's all blame Allamorph for mentioning Data =)
Last I had heard, Data lacked a few 'parts'. Also, something that would be a good cause to worry about all this, is if you ever offended or tried to break up with a robot partner, what is to say they won't use those multitrillion calculations per second to plot your untimely demise in such a way that nobody would ever know it was them? Just hypothetically anyway. Sorry SunfallE, I got you and Sandy mixed up. Still crappy with names. Also Allamorph, the movie I,Robot is fully irrelevant. It was in fact basing off of two of Asimov's books- I, Robot; and Caves of Steel, in a wierd mix of the two that made sense. Ever notice that in the move "VIKI" is considered a she? That is because VIKI is typical of a prototype. Having been the first, she is built using the designer's love and care. The main body of the rest of the robots, being mass-produced, could have taken on the masculine form because the masculine form is symbolic of strength- which is something that those units clearly posessed. But they were not full human replacement either, while they were humanoid form they were lacking in a lot of places. More likely, something which this thread was meant to be about would be a scenario like Chobits- which is why I mentioned that before. You would have the human-like artificial intelligences, and shortly after their mainstream appearance they would have variants for different functions. Actually there was at least one Male persocon in that series, but the majority were female.
 11.
Ok, this is just bizarre. You say that there are no male robots, which is true, I suppose, but that's because there are also no female robots either. Robots, as they exist now, are sexless (by which I don't mean they're not getting any, I mean they're genderless). Do you believe that your microwave is a girl? Your TV? So I don't think SunfallE is jealous, I think you are misguided as to other people's opinions on the matter. Technically, there will never be male or female robots, as being male or female is dependant on genes, which robots are somewhat lacking in.
You are not aware of the tradition for machines to always be considered female? Even though what you say is true- they have no gender and are mere things instead of beings, that tradition still stands, that all machines are considered female. Probably because the tinkerers who first created them put passion and love into them, something that on a normal person would have been spent on another human. It may explain some of the 'personalities' that these machines get, due to unknown effects of love that cant be observed in the laboratory. My desktop computer for example- I built that machine, and for the past few months now if anybody else tries to use it that machine will lag badly and soon freeze up, yet works perfectly fine for me. Though I suppose it would depend on who built a particular machine. I usually refer to all of the machines I build and maintain as female, between the peculiarities of their operation being comparable to a bad-tempered woman who becomes sweet to a particular person and the tradition of machines being considered female. I suppose it would be sexist to not think that in this day and age it may be possible for a machine to be considered male- if it was built by a woman, and had a nature of operation comparable to a man. Though it really depends, and being that they are genderless you can call them either. It's not so much as i am for this idea, i may be a nerd but having experienced the the feelings of being with a real woman I doubt that anything better would come along in our lifetimes. What I am saying is that we don't know what the future holds, the fact is such machines could conceivably be made at some point in time.
 12. OOC: I noticed. And I wonder if Momishin will post again, but I have no plans to wait for her at this point. There is a story here, shall we make it great? ______________________________________________________________________ ~Ruins of Thundering Irons Blacksmith Shop, Knotthole~ ?If it was Lucy, she would not have been shining unless you saw her under a full moon. We were once childhood friends, however she was stolen away by darkness. Now she could easily kill me, the last time we met I managed to evade her only by hiding in the wilderness. There are large scars near my shoulders and on my left leg from that incident. I?m surprised she hasn?t attacked yet, the way she has grown she would likely be able to overpower all three of us.? Odin answered Shaun. ?And that bug I squashed, a more direct observer of the demon lord she serves. Whatever our next move will be, we need to figure it out and do it.? Lucy?s gaze swept across the ruins again, a cold wind blowing causing Odin to put another piece of wood into the campfire to stay warm. He sat down near the blaze and turned his apron behind him, forming a cloak of sorts against the cold. ?It has been a long time since I have felt the cold stare of Lucy?s gaze. Hopefully she will go away on her own, to face her would be futile without the remaining survivors so that we could challenge her as a group. Shaun, promise me. Do not let Sue fall to harm because of Lucy. I have tried to watch out for everyone in this town as best I can, but I have strayed too close to my limit. You must do it now, for yourself and for everyone. The fact that Lucy has returned to this town means that my time is up.? ?Odin you?ve gotten so futile as you aged. Why on earth would I be interested in this Sue? Of course, if that jewel you guys had wasn?t so explosive, I would have been much more satisfied with that.? Came a young sounding voice from the bush, which carried with it a sense of cruelty and power despite seeming childish. ?So that?s what this is about Lucy? You wanted to give that jewel to the demon lord, and since we made it explode decided to extract retribution? What?s so special about it? Odin shouted back, pretending not to know where Lucy was, even though they both knew exactly where each other were. Standing up, both of Odin?s hammers were drawn- one looking fairly new, the runes fresh cut and the handle recently fitted, the other old and stained, the runes rubbed down and the head chipped. ?I?ll dance with you if you want, since it would be just like old times. But you know, you could just head home and tell the dark lord we?re dead and the jewel is still being searched for.? ?Odin, when have you ever known me to do things the easy way. The Jewel is what my master wants, and the jewel is what I will get. Pity I would have to kill an old friend and all his companions to get it.? came the strange voice again, and with a sharp rustling as though a sudden wind passed through, the servant of the night appeared before Odin- rudely yanking out several of his hairs. ?Same as always Lucy, torn between embracing you as tightly as I can and running like a dog in a thunderstorm away from you.? Odin answered back. ?However, I would much prefer not to die this time, after the last incident I don?t find such experiences pleasant.?
 13.
No. :animesigh It's a statement based on the fact that we don't have enough information to say one way or the other. Just as there is no 'should' as for how one would react to an idea like this. I don't know about the others, but my first thought is to cringe over the idea. Robots are not real people, is it really so hard to grasp that one would prefer to connect with their own kind? Or that they are not interested in considering the alternative that in my mind is no alternative at all? Even if it were real I know that I am not interested in it. Maybe it's because living without sex isn't the end of the world. Not having a close relationship isn't the end of the world. So unless it's with something that isn't 'fake' I'd rather do without. You guys are making me wonder as to why you want to defend it so. There's no need to be nitpicky. You think people should give it a try and I'll say I've no interest. I'm not going to lie and say I don't know how I'd feel because just thinking about it is enough to turn me off to the idea. If I had a robot that complex I wouldn't be using it for sex or companionship, I'd want it programmed to do useful things like clean the house or maintain the yards. Because that's the context in which I see robots. Not for other things.
Weren't you gay? Last I checked, all machines are female by tradition, which means you are a bit jealous because they don't and probably won't make male robots. And what is to say that a machine could not be constructed that can't love and be affectionate the same as a human can? Nature has rules for how it works, if you reproduce those rules into another medium they will ideally still work the same. TO date it has proven more difficult than we believed it would be, but that doesn't mean it won't ever be done. The only real issue with a human falling in love with a robot is that it would dead-end the reproduction tree, being that it would be similar to when two different species of animals mate typically they do not produce young- or when they do it is sterile.
 14. Well it seems I am back in the same lot as most of you. I got dumped last night. Apparently I had overlooked one thing, and it took 6 months before it became apparent. Our interests weren't close enough to have material to talk about. Oh well, I still got good experience from that.
 15. ~Ruins of Thundering Irons Blacksmith Shop, Knotthole~ “Shaun, we didn’t know what it would do. Still, might want to stick in the area. The only presences I am sensing at the moment are the 10 of us who were at the crystal, and that spy that is hiding near here. Let her be for the time being, there are still not enough of us to face her and be able to win. Odin remarked, two of the survivors having come near the fire. He set down the small bellows and pulled his iron out of the fire- a saw blade being retempered so he could saw the boards for the big bellows. Immersing it in a barrel of water he had filled from the still running spring, it gave a resounding sizzle and then was ready to be used again. Basing from her Aura, that is Lucy the demon. The feeling I am getting from these ruins is that whoever burned the town did so with no warning, nor with any mercy for those who wouldn’t be able to defend themselves anyway. It is a cold sadness, which is why I am not wasting time repairing my forge so that once again we can bring life to this wilderness.” “Still, there were 10 people at the crystal, and I only see three of them counting myself now. My root cellar survived intact; there is some food and supplies down there. We should regroup and plan our next move, since that stockpile will not last for more than a few days with this many people.” He continued, putting another scrap of iron into the fire and starting with the small bellows again to bring it up to forging temperature. “I don’t think that spy will attack me yet, if she was going to she would have by now. Still we do need to be careful, there may be other agents in the area.” A small black bug crawled across the anvil; catching sight of it the anvil rang once as Odin’s hammer smashed it- a dark aura dispersing as the fragments of the bug evaporated.
 16. Dunno if I am too late or not, but I would like to join this too. Name: Martel ?Stardust? Alutri Age: 19 Gender: Female Race: 100% human. Birthplace: E451-002 research station, orbiting Venus Something strange about you: Despite looking like an innocent teenage girl, she is surprisingly well learned with regard to technology. Frequently she will have problems talking to other people in terms that they will understand, having a known addiction to using large words. Also, an accident in her past left her with a severely weakened left leg. Over time she has tinkered with mechanics, and now wears a brace of her own design to reinforce that leg. She hopes that someday it will no longer be needed, but for now if she is going to walk for any length of time it must be used. Typically she always wears it, hiding it under her jeans so that nobody knows about it. She does arm herself when alone- using a concealed carry revolver, but despite her body being in lesser condition she is fearsome with the tactics of mental and digital warfare. Appearance: Click to enlarge. This art should do, even though it was originally a different character from a different RP. Yes, she has a larger-size body. Standing 5? 3? and about 180 lbs, she doesn?t look anything at all like what you might find she is capable of. Other: Using parts obtained at the research station, and assistance from her mentor, she has constructed a small flyer. While it looks like a flying junkyard, having been made from scrap parts, it is capable of holding four people but usually goes alone with only her aboard. Fitted with an autopilot designed by her from the ground up, it not only allows her to travel to other planets and stations, but serves as her living quarters. It only has two machine guns (front and rear), but does posses an experimental magnetic shield device that sometimes deflects incoming projectiles using a strong magnetic field to cause them to orbit the hull of her ship. Typically when the field is energized, you will see a cloud of junk orbiting her ship, made of debris that have been trapped in the field. It has been found by her that by keeping the field full of junk, projectiles that might not be deflected sufficiently to not strike her ship will sometimes hit the junk. At present, she is working as a freelance tinkerer. Traveling the Sol system fixing technology (mostly repairing other?s ships) and avoids battle since her ship is not meant for such things. She is still continuing her research that was started at the station where most of her life was spent, but since she went on her own a year ago more time is spent earning the money to stay alive than continuing it. She has landed on Nightside once before, but was soon driven off the planet by the vamtyrs and escaped with a lot of damage to her ship. Fortunately, it was repairable. Presently she is in lunar orbit waiting for a repair call and hoping to earn more money before she runs out of propellant again.
 17.
Why would a robot want to be called human? I imagine that a sentient robot would take pride in being the technological marvel that they are. Calling them human almost seems like an insult.
Typical lines of thought indicate that prototype humanoid robots of sentient ability would always be facing the comparison between themselves and humans- through the course of interaction with people having similar opinions to Indifference would likely be given the impression that they are inferior to humans, when in reality they may very well be equal or even superior to the humans they interact with. Due course of thought process though, a robot being degraded by interaction with such people would then be likely to follow a course that would be such as to make it more human, and in theory calling a robot human would be a complement. Later versions of Robots, after they have been in the world for a while, may wish to take pride in what they are- and calling such a machine human would be insulting since they would have probably gotten their own sense of pride in not being human. In any case, while I might construct a robot with a female-form body that would rival the looks of a human, I would not in my right mind consider adding the fine gender-specific details that would be used for sex. While later robots may be equipped with them once they have become common, the chances are high that most early machines will not have them. I still think that explaining the feeling of sex to a robot is a lost cause. Because they would not have the same pleasure mechanism associated with it that we do, even letting them experience it would not satisfactorily explain why we like it so much. And a robot would not be able to reproduce, not without a lot more technology than we are even close to. Plus there would be the ethics of such a thing, since the only way that a robot would be able to reproduce with a human is if the robot was carrying human internals.
 18.
Not real and therefore irrelevant to this debate.
I know that it is entirely made up, but what is to say that we might not eventually enter into a scenario of similar nature to that. A persocon body could easily be constructed using the methods I described, however it would have issues with a power source and it's computing potential- both of which will be answered in due time by technological progress maintaining present rate of advancements.
And you're not taking into account that all of this is still out of the realm of knowing if it actually is possible or not. And your talk of constructing something that looks human proves this out. The materials in such a robot are artificial and man made. It's not human it's simply emulating one. That's my point to begin with.
It is impossible to predict exactly when, all that can be certain is eventually we will figure it out. So far, most of the predictions made in the 1970s have failed to come true, most weren't even close. However, a lot of them have come true, and I would like to point out a great example- The modern flip-phone cellular device, the prototype of that device is actually the Star Trek communicator from the original series, made back then. Still need a little bit more improvement, but the companies are working on it. It doesn't matter if the materials are artificial or not, if need be a truly cunning inventor could potentially make an android that uses carbon-based flesh maintained by blood like ours, over a metallic or organic frame. Though too much organic and you become a cyborg-clone type instead of an actual robot. Also, look at the fashion industry. How many of those models are actually still all natural and organic? Less than 1% I'd bet, they are all artificially modified to look better than real people are meant to.
And we may never reach this point and even if we do being considered human is still not human. And even gaining sentience won't change the fact that they wouldn't be human. It would still be something else altogether.Though that is possible, I don't see it happening in my life time. And honestly debating over marriage? Just as I have no problem with gay marriage I wouldn't care if someone considered themselves married to something that isn't human. I'll save the debate over civil rights and other legal issues for another time since I don't see this happening anytime soon if at all.
For the time being, it would be as pointless to argue as gay rights are, yet someday assuming that technology continues evolving, people will be arguing over them same as they are arguing over gay rights now. The fact is not everybody carries the same opinions as you do on such things, and those difference of opinions are the reason why debates exist as one side argues their point and tries to win over the other side. Eventually though, machine intelligences of that nature may exist, and be passable as human in all definitions except for being made of metal and plastic instead of flesh and blood. That still doesn't mean they can't be alive- there is a machine in the world that is powered entirely by human food, meaning they could engauge in respiration and metabolism same as we do.
And that's just it... It's still nothing more than a theory. ;) And though it's repetitive, I have no interest in something that isn't human like I am.
I'll give you that one, since it is a theory used in my own work and to date I do not have any publishable evidence to prove or disprove that theory. However, other machines using similar concepts do exist and are proving to be functional in real world environments- machines like MIT's COG, the Honda ASIMO, and various others that have a level of machine intelligence that permits them to learn how to interact in our world.
 19.
Robot, android, no matter what the fancy name. It's still not real. I can see the sex toy aspect here, but marriage? As John said, that would be delusional. And I agree. I'd rather stick with what I already do, date real guys. If I ever get married, it certainly won't be to an object that isn't even human. lol
Chobits But you are not accounting for the fact that at some point in time it may be possible to construct a machine that is passible in all accounts as human. Already it is possible to construct a robotic body that at least looks human. Using dyed silicone skin for realistic color and feeling, aluminum tube frame for comparable weight, pneumatic-sheath muscles for realistic movement patterns and comparable strength, we even have means by which to construct realistic and working humanoid faces that only need a suitable control mechanism to perfectly emulate facial expression. The only part we can't construct yet is a brain and soul that would fit inside such a construct. It is really the only missing piece to having a robot that could be considered human. Unfortunately our present computing technology is too large to be used, nor is it capable of providing the intelligence thresholds for sentience. I would just as soon stick with a flesh and blood woman, but there may be a point in time where such things are in fact practical and potentially even widespread. While I doubt a robot could be fertile, at the very least they would still qualify as being human enough for marriage. Instead of the gay marriage debates we have now we would be arguing over if robots should be allowed to marry or not. Imagine that. Sorry about the nerd rant, but Artificial Intelligence is among my lines of interest and one of my own theories say that while we cannot engineer AI directly, if we engineer a humanoid compatible form and give it the capability to learn, eventually by experience it would grow a soul of it's own.
 20.
Also, if it is the power cable, do not cut and try to reattach it. That's just asking for trouble. And by trouble I mean the cable possibly causing a short circuit and catching fire.
Only if you are an amateur. Anyone who knows a good bit about wiring can easily repair a damaged power cord with it being no more dangerous than it originally was as long as it is done right and in accordance with electrical code. It mostly depends on what cable exactly. an AV cable can be obtained at wal-mart probably (though depending on the signal it might work if spliced), a power cord is repairable or replaceable. A wire inside it though, that the whole unit may be beyond repair.
 21. J Geils Band CENTERFOLD It reminded me of the girl I love when I heard it the other day, and it didn't take long to get it. So now it plays fairly often and is high up on my main playlist. *sigh*... I wonder when she will be online today.
 22. Trying to explain to the scouts in the troop I was once in that the scout camps of today are hotels compared to what the camps used to be like. To be honest I liked the old-style better. You really knew you were camping. No hot showers, the toilet is a large concrete pit with a shed over it, and most of the tents were more duct tape than canvas. Good Times... Good times.

 24. Dang, I was going to be L so that I could make sure he stayed true to character. Oh well, Momishin does know what she is doing and I can always help her if she wants. In that case I would like to claim Misa, since we'll probably be needing her somewhat soon and it also opens up some of my subplot.
